Starting point is 00:02:23 And you know what time it is? It's time for the special guest. Big Play Slate. What up, brother? What's good? My good. It was good, man. How you been?
Starting point is 00:02:31 I've been good. I've been good. Yes, sir. I'm going off a tough game for y'all. Y'all got a great game. Sunday night football, perfect opportunity, prime time to make a statement against the Green Bay Packers. And Aaron Rogers' revenge game is, you know, I know he didn't play before, but I know he's feeling some type of way about this. Oh, you know, of course.
Starting point is 00:02:52 That's A-Rod, man. He, you know, so the game for sure, we want to win for ourselves, but for sure a lot with A-Rod, man. He's been in the organization for so long, did so much for that team. He won a Super Bowl for him. So it's big for him, man. I know he's not going to try to take it too personal. You know what I'm saying? But I know A-Ride, it's personal.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Right, right, right. Yeah, he took a person with the Jaxe, and he wouldn't be that long in there with him. So I got to understand what he feels about Green Bay. That boy going to be in the bottom, scraping the bottom of his bag, trying to get these boys. All in it, all in it, man. Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Green Bay Packers,
Starting point is 00:03:32 said he's not worried about Aaron Rogers revenge game. He's not worried about, you know, any of that narrative. Matt, you're doing great as a coach. It don't matter if you're not worried about it. Aaron is worried about it. And for good reason, he means a lot to this franchise. He meant a lot to that franchise. Four MVP's there.
Starting point is 00:03:53 He's going to bring his best. Come on now. Hey, we all been in that situation before because, shoot, you got a chance to get revenge on your boys. I had a chance to get paid against my boys. I don't know what we're talking about. I'm coaches know it's know it be personal. It'd be personal, but you can't never say it.
Starting point is 00:04:08 You can't, you can't. You can't ever say what you really want to say in the media without it being a negative spin and all this. Like, if people wasn't so bad about people telling the truth and, like, if people would say it more, people used to get mad at me for saying what I had to say, but I mean, I'm telling you, I'm keeping it a buck. Like, if I think somebody weak, I'm going to do it,
Starting point is 00:04:29 and I'm going to say it, and then I'm going to show you that day week, and I'm going to say it again. And it is what it is. But if it's a revenge game, you've got to say, no, I don't mean that much. You know what I mean? Because what are you going to say? Yeah, it means a lot to me.
Starting point is 00:04:41 And I hope we beat the heck out of them. If we can be up 50, that would make my day. You can't say that. You can't say that. You can't say that. Because what's making the difference? I'll be trying to tell folks would make stuff a revenge game
Starting point is 00:04:52 is when you get rid of that team release you. Now, if you go somewhere on your own, it's a better thought. But if you release me or trade me, Yeah, bro, it's always a reaction. It's all, every time I see it. Every time. I remember I still remember that day with Marshawn.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Like, man, you're family. No, they cut me. Right, right. And Marshawn talking to all that mess. He went to, he went to the Raiders. He was talking about, I'm whole. I said, Marshawn, you ain't got no more loyalty than anybody else. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I remember that like yesterday, boy, boy, was too funny. That was funny. That boy is a character. So how can y'all win this game? Green Bay Packers have a really good receiving core. They got a nice young receiver and Matthew Golden, a speedster. I believe Christian Watson is starting to work his way back, if I'm not mistaken. Romeo Dobbs.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Tucker Kraft is a go-to guy. And then Brandon Jacobs. What do you guys got to do to slow this offense down this week? First, we got to do a lot, man. We got to contain a run. I know our last couple of games is going just realistic. What's out there on film, you know, guys has not been averaging, you know, 20 carries or 30 carries with 100 yards. It's been like 12, 15, 11.
Starting point is 00:06:13 So we got to stop the explosives in the run game, you know, definitely with Jacobs coming in the game. You know, that's going to be a bell cow. And he's one of the best backs in this lead too. So we got to for sure start the run. And then, you know, of course, with that being said, you know, maybe try to make a one-dimensional. We got to be way better than we was last week. past game. So.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Clay, I'm looking at these uniforms and they're making me squint. Oh, man. Hey, look. It's a day and, hey, boy, we look like we're incarcerated, man. We're in the jailhouse. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Yeah, y'all better, y'all better, y'all better pull out that jailhouse mentality, put them on clamps under locking key. But how are you feeling about this? Obviously, this is the tradition and historic and all that stuff. And you're part of one of the most historic franchise in the National Football League.
Starting point is 00:07:00 these jerseys are interested though. Yeah, man, I'm finding out of look at them for the first time, man, yesterday. So, I mean, I'm going to try to see what I can do with him, you know what I'm saying? Because I got to try to see, you know what I'm a traditional guy. That's a lot of loud colors right there. Boy, I'm going to have to figure it out, man, because, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got to get my clique game, right? Because if I don't feel good, I don't play good. So we go out to figure that out, though, because, yeah, that might be a little bit too much yellow.
Starting point is 00:07:26 But we go do what we do, though. We go do what we do. See, if I had a name like Slay, I could come up with some cool saying. Like Dion had that cool saying. If you look good, you feel good, you feel good, you play good, you play good, they pay good. And then if they pay good, then Slay good. And you know what I mean? If I'm just trying to be a rapper or something.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Hey, go on now, you got the ball now. You got some balls. You've got real late. Y'all rap now. Every now and then. But those are interesting journeys. My question is going to be, what's your clique combo? What footwear are you wearing with this?
Starting point is 00:07:59 That's the yellow. It got to be yellow. Like, I'm trying to put that together right now. And most of my cleats are more like yellow with some black in it. But I don't think we got no black in that dog on jersey or nothing at all. So I'm over his species right now. I'm really still trying to figure this out right now because that's going to be my tough part. Because I love my cleats.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Now, my cleats be, they be on point. So I'm still debating. I'm going to be very locked into your swag this Sunday night. And all the viewers, all this, the Steelers fans, pay attention to the slight swag this week. I know y'all frustrated about the game last week. Keep the toxic comments and all the nonsense out of it. I just want one day for fans to try their best after a loss to say something positive. I challenge y'all.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Try to, if you can say something positive to the player, instead of eating, look, there's enough hate in the world. There's nonsense. There's enough all this. love to watch these sports, and I guarantee you these young men are doing the best they can. They don't mean to lose. They don't mean to give up balls. They don't mean to drop passes or interceptions, any of that. They're doing their best. They don't always work out how you want it to work out. But I challenge y'all. After a tough game, after a good game, say something nice about your team. Say something nice about your players. If you're going to write a comment,
Starting point is 00:09:18 challenge yourself to say something nice. Even if it's like, hey, you had a nice haircut today. It's okay. Something. Something. Because Because the hate, it don't help nobody. It don't make them feel better, and it's definitely not going to help them play better than the next game. You never know. The positive comment might be to pick me up they need to get them over the hump for the next game.
Starting point is 00:09:38 So how about we try a new strategy, everybody? Say something positive to your guy after tough games. I'm trying to tell you, boy, but you know how these fans are they let you have it. I was talking about in a heartbeat, but, you know, but that's something part of the game, man. So we don't got used to it now, but I wish one day they just had something nice to. say everybody.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Yeah, but it's such a toxic part of the game. Like, it's such a toxic part of the game. Y'all still got a winning record. And they think the NFL, they think, oh, man, this team has been struggling or this team has been up and down. Like, they must be bad. You guys are going to blow them out. Like, you just never know.
Starting point is 00:10:14 A one win, I mean, a one lost team might get beat by a one win team in the National Football League. And it shouldn't be that much. It'll be considered an upset. But these are NFL players. Best in the world. best in the world. Speaking of positive, was there anything positive you or maybe Tomlin had to say after this game?
Starting point is 00:10:36 You know, I know there were enough criticisms, enough criticism to go around. Hey, man, look, you know, we know my team, my team straightforward. Ain't too much positive. All the thing is a positive. Come on, this is a learning experience of what we need to do better. So, hey, man, we had a little meeting. You know, he's one thing about my team, man. What I do appreciate it, he's thorough.
Starting point is 00:10:58 He's thorough now. He's going to tell you what it is. He's going to tell you what it is. And, you know, I know me, my, our first meeting, he told us what we're here for. And we got our chance to get out there. And we can perform the way we need to. So, you know, and, you know, so we know we got to better. Got to be better.
Starting point is 00:11:14 And, you know what? And, you know, one thing I knew about this, by being in the division, you got another chance. You got another chance. So we got another chance at that, man. We're going to wait to that. But we got worried about this week coming up because this is a big game, too, as well. So, but yeah, man, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:28 he's, straightforward. You know, he ain't old, should coat nothing. Yeah, I'm mad at that. One thing I'll tell you about Pete Carroll, Pete Carroll, we're going there, and mind you, he'd sometimes be extra tough on us in game.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Like, if we had five turnovers in the game, he'll show the three, four bad plays in front of the whole team and be like, hey, you got to be better on it, which is perfect, keep your humble and all that. But we can lose the game. And he'd come in there showing all the highlights,
Starting point is 00:11:53 all the good stuff. Like, look at all the great things we did. We weren't able to pull it out. But, man, one play here. One play here. You see how special this can be? And be like, you know what? We damn sure. We damn sure did could have won that game. But you can be a better.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Dude, that's a good way. Yeah, that's a good way. It's a different way how you can go about it, man. But they ain't got... Mighty has some of that in them, but he ain't got a lot of that in them. No. White T. Phil let you have it, buddy. Like, hey, look, we got some good stuff on tape.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Now, it is some good tape out here. But we're going to talk about this right here, though. And y'all love him, man. I love it like the, he played around. Yeah, but hey, but we're all grown men. We're all grown men. And you're getting paid to do the job. And, you know, the criticism comes with it.
Starting point is 00:12:41 What did you think of when Brider Jones jumped on A-Rah back? Man, look, at first I didn't see it. I'm like, I ain't know what happened. You know what I saw. I got on the plane, da-da-da. Everybody talking about it. So I look, all right, that. And then that boy, A-Raw, look, unhappy.
Starting point is 00:12:54 we look unhappy. You know, Arroy, like, boy, I'm 41, boy, I don't like, it's hard for me already to get up off this ground. You put it back on the ground? Oh, no, no, no, I got something. And landed on him? He laid there for a second, like, I know he didn't. I know he didn't. I know he did. Hey, but, uh, whoo, I don't know how they talked was, but, man, I'm going to have to find out because I'm going to work tomorrow. I'm like, I ain't know you just laid on Aeron like that. What's got going on? Yeah, I need, I need you to ask you. Aeron's like,
Starting point is 00:13:24 I didn't avoid these big 300-pounders with the opposite jerseys on all day, but it's going to be my own guy that just lands on me. That's roughen the past year for D-Lyman do it. You can't do that. Yeah, I'm talking about he did it until I don't do, man. I know he was excited, man. Emotions was crazy, though, because that was a hell of a play he made. But my God, hey, I ain't a lot too.
Starting point is 00:13:44 A-Rod looked like he was about 34 again, we're moving around and standing them plays like that, too, though, man. He was looking weird. The fact you said 34 like it's young. Yeah, 34. He wasn't looking like, and I've never seen him in, when he was 27, 28. I don't see him at that age.
Starting point is 00:14:00 I was not seen him, he could really run, run. So I finally gave him out 34, so I'm, you know what I'm saying? Gave me a little cushion. A little cushion. Y'all, y'all been on the field a lot this year. Yes. Y'all been on the field a lot. Y'all averaging 72.5 plays again.
Starting point is 00:14:17 For the fans who don't understand what that means, they on the field a lot. Two damn months. That's about 28. extra plays a game. The average of about 50, maybe 55, you might get a 60 play game here and there, but 72 as an average, I know your legs gone. Come on, man. That's on us as a defense, man. We got to be better. You know, we got to be accountable. Don't matter what the call is, we got to execute, just beat the man in front of you
Starting point is 00:14:45 as a team and as a player. We're not the best on third downs. We're not best at, you know, coming out there at three and outs. Like we just ain't playing, you know, compromere the ball on the defensive side. Fool the game. You know what I'm saying? We might have some sports in here, sports in there.
Starting point is 00:15:00 And that's what I was saying earlier in the year. We've got to stop depending on splash plays. And, you know, that's what we've been living off for for too long. And guys that can manage the ball, control the clock, not force turnovers. We got to force the turnover steady, you know, just trying to wait until they just make a mistake. You know, we got to force them.
Starting point is 00:15:18 And that's why I think we need to just pick it up, You know, I know this will be a big week. We're going to be focused on, like, one play at a time, and all is doing them together. Yeah, yeah, it's another prime time game, another prime time opportunity to showcase this defense and everything y'all are capable of. But let's talk about this out of the NFL news.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas, we invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down?
Starting point is 00:16:17 Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing about... bit for the podcast for people could call in and say, hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious
Starting point is 00:16:47 guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman helped make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Starting point is 00:18:00 Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsLice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And for more, follow Timbo Slicelife-Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. J.C. Horn was strapped. Come on now. Yes. Oh, yeah, fuck. You know, seat belt. Hey, boy, I love.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Hey, these boys bought the cornerbacks back into it again, man. That was a generation that came back. They bought us back to like us. We had a little stink a little minute in the drive a little bit. We had a little stink. But now the boys, that class dealt, that class bought a Mac Man. And the Cid is because it was packed right before him. No, it was no.
Starting point is 00:18:56 J.C. first, then it was pat after him in the drive. That drive, so they had two good corners that really paid. And then the next drive was sauce. The sauce and then stingily. Yep, stay out. And then the more than that. Whithful? Yep.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Wetherspoon. The next one. Yeah. So it's like they started to get back up. So to see J.C. what he do? Man, look, this is probably the first time I've seen him play, you know, injury-free. Like, he'd been injured for a couple years, and people have been like, oh, man, he injured. I've been knew he was nice. But I know the injuries kept him from being limited on the field,
Starting point is 00:19:31 but now he's finally getting himself together. I'm quite sure he's probably doing a lot differently to take care of his body to make sure he's available to play. And it's showing his work right now. He's showing what that $25 million look like. No question. I mean, the one-hander, the one-hander was clean. The other one was clutch. And he's just playing all around good football, man. You love to see him healthy and reaching his potential because he kind of gets lost in the best cornerback conversation sometimes because of the injuries, not because his talent or anything like that or his performance,
Starting point is 00:20:00 just because he's so beat up and he hasn't had enough plays and enough games under it. And he kind of stuck in Carolina, in Carolina, you know, and they haven't been, yeah, they haven't been showcased as a team very often. So it's good to see him getting some love. You see Monday night football, JSCN, Jackson Smith, and Jigbaugh, continues his run. That man is eating right now, Sway. Hey, well. What do you think he's doing so good that make him special?
Starting point is 00:20:27 Man, look, he got to be doing a lot. And they got a great connection, man. There's some guys that, them two guys right there are really connecting, man. And when I tell you, I know when we played him, we're like, okay, he's going. He's getting out there. He's making good catch, he contesting catches. Like, he don't seem as fast on film. But he run routes real.
Starting point is 00:20:44 polished. Like, it's real controlling. It's not rush. You're not dictating him. Like, you know what I'm saying? He really, he really controlling the pace of the whole thing. And you're watching a man. I'm like, look, y'all better start doubling this boy because he's starting to be in that conversation of, you know, them top five guys right now. You know, right now he's doing it. And everybody could have this, whatever, you know, everybody had this question about Sam Darner. Can he do this? Can he do that? Sam Dana looking like first team all pro too as well. And, and playing and leading elite team to this. So they're doing a damn thing.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I'm talking about he's nice with it, boy. He ain't plugged around. No, he ain't playing around at all. He's running good routes. He's efficient. He's effective. They know he's getting the ball and he's still getting it done. And he doing it against really good players.
Starting point is 00:21:32 You know, y'all game, he had a good couple catches against Jalen. This week he had a touchdown against Stingley on the post. And Stingley was right there on his shoulder, you know. And Stingley made a play in that game. later on got him a book to help try to change this game because their offense wasn't giving them a lot in this game their defense scored a touch so their defense almost scored too yes in his game they was they was really keeping them in there but that was that was great to see that jesc and i mean he he almost he got 819 yards already four touchdowns and what about seven eight eight games seven games
Starting point is 00:22:05 yeah we're going into week eight i know hey look i know a receiver that wish he he could have that going on right now but i go see it right and we can't say his name I ain't going to be Beyonce. Hey, yeah, yeah. Jonathan Taylor is also eating right now. The Indianapolis coach are the big surprise for me. I mean, anybody that's, I can't say people in Indianapolis, they might have known and felt that way.
Starting point is 00:22:30 But anybody else saying they thought, oh, Daniel Jones was going to be an MVP candidate, the Indianapolis coach was going to be the best team in the NFC, I mean, the AFC, and maybe in the league, you was lying to yourself. But they are. And look, well, I can tell you one thing, man. Shane, you know, he's,
Starting point is 00:22:46 doing. I'm trying to tell you when shangles with us in Philly, he put that thing together now. That's what, you know what I'm saying? And I'm not saying I'm not surprised, but I knew if he find a quarterback that can just do as he needs and makes it, he know how to scheme it up and get right. And you see Daniel Jones looking like,
Starting point is 00:23:06 now that John's going to ask them a question like, what do we go wrong at? Right, right. A lot of the blacks in the matter. You know what I'm saying? So, you know, and if you look at the Coke's team, man, not to, no offense, I'm saying they just as talented on the roster as them, but they just, same way built as the Eagles, you know, running them all heavy, good run game, you know, quarterback.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Big receivers. You know, big receiver quarterback can stand the play that can reuse his legs. He can want a quarterback draw if he wanted to with them. So they kind of been. They're running back. Yeah, and their defense is playing very well. So it's like, they built just like us, you know, just like, not like us, but like the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:23:41 I said like us. Like, well, because I was referring them back to 22. So, but, yeah, man. So I ain't surprised with Shane, man. I knew Shane's going to get it going. I knew that. But Jonathan Taylor has 697 yards and 11 touchdowns already. 10 of them rushing touchdowns on the season.
Starting point is 00:23:59 And I know you biased and I know, I think I know the answer to this. But you think a running back can win MVP? They should. They need to, man. If you're doing stuff like that as a running back, man, you take something people to take their running back off that team, and stuff don't happen. And I understand the quarterback is it the most.
Starting point is 00:24:16 important position and you can't win a little bit. But, man, if you're doing numbers like that, that's big time. And he on a pace for, I know for some crazy stuff right now. I can't even imagine what he on pace for us. Yeah, the last runner back to win MVP was Adrian Peterson in 2012. He had
Starting point is 00:24:32 2,097 yards in his MVP season. Taylor is on track for 2,142 yards. That's 105. Right now, right now his 697 yards are 105 more than
Starting point is 00:24:46 the next closest guy. But the deal is, and this is why I hate the MVP right now, and I don't like the award, I don't like how they're doing it because I don't even like how they voting for it or the people they're allowing to vote. It's a lot, I've got to say about that. But if Sequin didn't win it last year and Christian McCaffrey didn't win it the year before, I just don't see it happening. And it don't seem like there's anything a running back could necessarily do to elevate
Starting point is 00:25:13 himself into that conversation because they'll be. sitting there looking like at Daniel Jones as the MVP before before Taylor before John Taylor and I wish they had an individual award for the QBs where they said best QB award you know I mean call it Tom break call it the Joe Montana Tom Brady call it the best QB MVP most valuable quarterback whatever you want to do but take them out of the equation because then you then you could be more fair about how you pick it yeah wait you you might even get a potential defensive player from time of time. If you take them guys out of the equation because you're going to give it to them because
Starting point is 00:25:52 they touch the ball every play. So no matter what, they're going to be the most productive. They're going to have a most touchdown. Somebody, one of them is going to be Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes or, you know, right now, you can make argument for Dak Prescott the way he's been playing. Your Mississippi State boy have been playing. They don't want to give him the credit he deserved because they've been in shootouts. But I'm telling you, his part of the shootout, he's been holding up his end of the bargain.
Starting point is 00:26:15 I'm talking about and letting his shoot too do-doo-doo-doo-to-do-do and you're your young boy George Pickett's right that little hey look he got him some of the best body
Starting point is 00:26:25 control with the case in that rock I ever seen boy that's doing some stuff boy godly he he's the only one I look like that I say I don't want no separation in front of the DB
Starting point is 00:26:33 I just want you to be close to me so I can wash you this is like he's just looking for that like I'm not I don't even want to run a good route I want you to feel like you've covered me and let you know you can't cover me you can't cover me
Starting point is 00:26:43 he say stay right here I don't want you too far away. I find it. Witness. Witness it. I want you to witness this. I want you on my highlight tape.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, that MVP stuff, stuff, it's different, though. I don't like that. I don't like that. You made the point, though. They need to make a quarterback one by themselves,
Starting point is 00:27:00 for sure. They need to. It's different. And then it's the logic of some of the voters, and I hate when they try to explain themselves. They're like, well, you know, Lamar's won the last, if you start any conversation with something from the past,
Starting point is 00:27:12 influencing your decision about this season, you're wrong, you're dead wrong. Oh, well, he won too many. I don't care. I mean, I don't care if he won 50 of them. If he deserves to win 51, then you give it to him. If that's what the numbers and that's what the tape says, then you give him an award. You don't give it because you're like, hey, somebody else needs to win this.
Starting point is 00:27:29 No, they don't. No, they don't. You don't need to get bored of somebody's greatness. That's why I don't like LeBron and that conversation of him not getting MVP's when he's supposed to. Like, people are too sympathetic in this day and age. There's nothing wrong with somebody just being dominant. Dominant. And us recognizing that.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Like, hey, that was honestly maybe the best season of Lamar Jackson has ever had. And he can't. He got two MVP. He didn't get it. You gave him first team all pro, but you didn't give him MVP. That's only happened a couple times in the National Football League. And it shouldn't have happened. But big play, I just don't see a running back getting it done.
Starting point is 00:28:07 I don't see them giving it. Not getting it done because I think Jonathan Taylor is getting it done. But I don't see them giving it to a. running back, unfortunately. He'll be offensive player the year because that's the standard. The deal there. Yeah, that's the backup prize. That's the
Starting point is 00:28:21 second place trophy for anybody who's not going to be MVP or anybody they think probably should have got MVP, but we got to give it to a quarterback, so we'll give you this consolation prize. But what are the top three running backs you face in your career? In my career, for sure. I mean, I was in the North. Adrian Peterson for sure.
Starting point is 00:28:39 And shoot, another one, man, I ain't I caught him. I ain't catch him in his good year, Chris Johnson. I can catch him his great, crazy years, so no. But, shoot, I mean, I played with Sequan, so it's different with that. But, man, that's tough for me right there. Like, crazy runner bats, because the next best one I kind of went against, really,
Starting point is 00:29:04 was, like, Matt Forte. You know what I'm saying? We've been to Chicago because he was a scat back. He was doing everything. but the only back I was really truly, truly, I ain't gonna lot. Was Marshall Lynch. I ain't gonna lie.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Whenever you played y'all, like, please don't let anybody steal this man to the edge. And he just see. I was going to be scared. I ain't a lie. You got to find a way to get him. And you got wide legs so you can't just chit him down. I can't jump right up where that was. But see, Chris McArthur, though, he didn't have too.
Starting point is 00:29:37 So I'll just say them. I'll just add him to both. I would say. say AP and obviously Marshaun to be in there for me. I did face it because I played in San Francisco in here so I can count him. AP, Marchon, and probably Derek Henry. Derek Henry was a lot for us to deal with that day. You know, it's just not that many running backs with that kind of longevity and that kind of, you know, that you,
Starting point is 00:30:01 because you could say Levion, Labion had some good years in there, but, you know, I can say Frank Gore, Frank Gore deserves to be in that conversation. We had some tough games against him. Man, lady was crazy, though. God, got up by Labion. Oh, my God. He had my drive class. That boy was stupid, nice.
Starting point is 00:30:18 Jesus, who was crazy. Yeah, yeah, he was crazy. It was crazy. It's so much parody in the NFL right now. It's so much parody. I can't predict it. Like, so many games you're going, you're like, I think this is a win for this team.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Like, they won the last two, and then you turn around and they've lost. Like the Buffalo Bills losing two in a row to who they lose to? They lost to the Patriots and then he lost to the Falcons. And you're like, Like, well, I could not have predicted that. There's nothing in the analytics. There's nothing on the tape where you're like, oh, man, they're going to struggle in these two games.
Starting point is 00:30:49 And then you got, like, Philadelphia Eagles. We talked about that. They lost to, who they lose to? They lost to the Giants. And then they lost to the Broncos' fourth quarter comeback. Broncos, they find a way. They find a way. Look, I did not know the score was eight to twenty-seous.
Starting point is 00:31:11 or something like that with like six minutes left in the game. Like that's crazy. Oh, Dada. I'd have been a part of some comeback and got beat by four, but not like that. Not like, not that, not big, not that small of the gap. Like, boy, no, because I've been in an office that take at least three minutes off the clock. That must mean, boy, they're taking 30 seconds off the clock. Three and out of beat.
Starting point is 00:31:33 Yeah, they couldn't, they couldn't get nothing going offensively. And then they had that PI call on, on Riley Moss. I said, come on now, y'all. Y'all, don't do it like this, refs. Because, first off, these underthrown footballs are getting ridiculous. He turning around looking for the ball, putting his hand. Like, what else do you, like, there's nothing else you could expect him to do. The receiver grabbing him.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Like, he don't, if I knew the ball was underthrown, then I would turn around and catch it. Catch it. That's the thing I hate about this. That's the only thing I hate about DBs, about us playing DVDs, because Davey wore these quarterbacks for underthrown balls, bro. And they'd be like, and you see the quarterback, they put him on that. But they up there. You threw a bad ball that you threw behind him.
Starting point is 00:32:13 And he came to see, now you're asking for a flag because what? Like, that's the jump. That's why, that's what, they don't need me to be a referee. I need to be officiating because underthrown. I wouldn't call none of that. None of that. If you, if you, if both y'all can't catch that, it's no call. Right.
Starting point is 00:32:29 And that, but that's the hard part of this game. And I think they're going to have to find a solution to that, whether, whether it, you turn those into 15 yarders, but then it's hard to distinguish which is which. or you can't call it, you know what I mean? Especially when the DB is getting his head around, you can't call those plays because you're rewarding them for not being effective, for not doing a great job. If they threw it on time and we're supposed to be,
Starting point is 00:32:51 then the receiver doesn't have to come back. But a DB, even if you're in good coverage, I don't know you're stopping. So I'm at full speed. You know the ball's stopping. So unless I looked and located it and saw it, get thrown, and know, oh, its trajectory is this. I'm not going to see it.
Starting point is 00:33:06 So my only thing to do is to either just get out of your way, and let you catch it or I'm going to turn around but I it's just not realistic it's not realistic I'm not just going to let somebody slip by me at the end and I know the ball's in air like so it's it's just weird but right now the coats are the one seed in the in the afc the packers are one seed in the nfc patriots are two patriots are two I'll say that again the 49ers are two in the nfc Broncos are three in the afc Eagles are three in the nfc Steelers are four in the afc bucks are four in the NFC
Starting point is 00:33:41 Lions are five in the NFC Bills are five in the AFC Chargers are six in the AFC Sea Hawks are six in the NFC Rams are seventh in the NFC and Jags are seventh in the AFC That's big and that's crazy that The NFC for the because they got a lot of
Starting point is 00:33:59 teens that's five and two So that's tough That's a lot of teens over that's five and two That's six and seven Right Yeah that's tough That's big. That's a, whew, that's the only thing I hate by that playoff bracket, man.
Starting point is 00:34:13 You can have a good-ass record, boy, but you could be the 60th, and you over there traveling all year. And they're thinking about changing that. And I know it was up for debate at the Competition Committee meeting this year, and I think they're going to look to implement that either the next year or the following year. I know it's a point of conversation, at least in terms of, like, a 14-win team, going to a 9-win team and a 9-win division winner,
Starting point is 00:34:36 like winning your division may not necessarily mean you, getting a home game in the future is what they it's what they said so they may change the seating i think that would be a good decision uh because like you said i mean you got 14 win teams that didn't win a division because their division is really tough one and nine win teams and nine win teams getting a home game and it's like what what's the point of the season if i win 14 games and i got to go track going on the road oh what really is the point yeah no that's bad that's bad and they got to fix that man but it'll be hard to fix then because then that thing you know it'll be it'll be too much now everybody go just play for running records and then
Starting point is 00:35:09 and then it's like all games matter. Instead of just division games. It's going to be all games matter. It's going to come down to the wire because every team ain't going to be five and two down the stretch but right now it's about tie breakers and stuff like that but this four, this tie that the Packers has is
Starting point is 00:35:27 playing today advantage right now. It's not a loss so they got four wins and everybody else got five but they don't top because they got the tie and the Hawks. Yep, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's, yeah, we'll see how that goes as it continues. But I think, I think a lot of these teams on the, on the NFC side are going to be there. I think I got a feeling the charges may fall off because one, one glaring omission from this AFC side is who? Hmm.
Starting point is 00:35:57 What do you mean about that? Somebody, somebody that's just a shocker? Yeah, somebody that's not there. That is always there. Oh, Kansas City. Yeah. I didn't even hear you not say that name. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I'm thinking, you don't said it. I'm like, I even if you're saying Kansas City. Yeah, they ain't there. Somebody got to be removed. Yeah. So I think the Chargers are probably going to be out. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:21 You know, the Jag got a, their division has gotten tougher with Indianapolis being, you know, it depends on how they play against Indianapolis. But I think the charges are going to be out. They're missing both tackles. I mean, Joe Alt's going to come back eventually, but their offensive line is depleted. Omarion Hampton is out.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Their backs are beat up. defensively, they got Khalil Mack back, but it's just a tough road. We got them this week playing Minnesota Vikings on Thursday nighters and fall. So that game will go a long way to determine how this shakes out. But I know the chief's going to be in there. If the chiefs ain't in there, everybody runs it, then color me surprised.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I'm going to tell me, look, I'll be surprised. Look, I bet my house. They're in the playoffs. They're going to be in playoffs. They're going to be in playoffs. Yeah, I'd be safe money. Real good, safe. Well, I appreciate you, as always, Big Play.
