I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me.
What you know.

In sports, there are smart moves and not so smart moves, like calling a timeout to set up a final touchdown attempt.
That's smart.
But calling a timeout with no timeouts left, that's not smart.
Same as true when you're hiring.
Smart ways and not so smart ways to get things done.
Like job sites that overwork.
you with tons of the wrong resumes. That's not smart. But posting a job on ZipRecruiter and letting
them find the right candidate for you, that's smart. ZipRecruiter has powerful matching technology
that scans thousands of resumes, identifies people with the right skills and education,
and experience for your job, and then actively invites them to apply, which is why it's rated
number one by employers in the U.S. based on trust pilot rating of hiring sites with at least a thousand

Joy Taylor is joining me, and I think my favorite Tuesday show ever on this network.
It's a pretty good Tuesday for you.
At least prediction-wise, you're in good shape.
By the way, one hour from now, we unveil our really our first herd hierarchy.
We do it every Tuesday.
Ten best teams, in our opinion.
A couple of shakeups in there, obviously.
Let me start with this.
Is that if there were a group of guys that were my kind of guys in the NFL at quarterback.
Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz, Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Sam Darnold,
They're my kind of guys.
No bragging when they win.
Shake off failure.
And failure,
Peyton Manning,
Brett Farb, Drew Breeze.
Failure is everywhere in this league.
You're going to win games.
Mark Sanchez won.
Tebow won.
You're going to win games.
How do you deal with failure?
I've never said that Sam Darnold had a great arm.
It's good enough.
I've never said he has the innate skills of Andrew Luck,
the size in the town of Cam Newton.
I've also said he's a little reckless.
He plays a little fast and loose.
So it was absolutely perfect
that he threw a pick six to start his career.
It was perfect
because then it allowed you to see
the Sam Darnold I know.
From that point forward,
he had a quarterback rating of 141.
Here's a kid, youngest quarterback to ever start,
week one in the NFL.
on the road, Monday night football against a former number one pick Matt Stafford and a coach, Matt Patricia,
who's helped guide along with Belichick and Brady, those Patriots, to win after win after win.
There was a lot to be nervous about.
And after Sam Darnold threw that pick, he was 16 to 20, two touchdowns, no picks, and a passer rating at 141.
And that is the Sam Darnold.
I saw four years ago at a USC practice, and I came out the very next day on the air,
I said, folks, we got another Andrew Luck.
I just saw him for the first time.
He's 18.
And I sat there with the time Steve Sarkesian was USC's coach.
And I walked over to Steve Sarkisian.
It was the first practice.
And I said,
I kid is.
And Sark looked at me and went,
Don't say it.
I know what you're thinking.
And I said, he looks like him, plays like him.
He's big like him.
He's thick like him.
And Andrew Luck, by the way, doesn't have the world's greatest arms.
And Andrew Luck, by the way, throws pick sixes and is going to throw more.
Sam's going to throw more of those.
Brett Farve had 29 interceptions in what is, 15th year?
Remember Brett Farve's last memorable pass threw across his body, picked off.
Ruined the Vikings' chance to get to a Super Bowl.
After the game last night, Darren Lee, quote,
dude smooth under pressure, doesn't get rattled.
We weren't worried whatsoever.
He needed to throw that.
pick six. And it was all his fault, by the way. It was nobody else's fault. It was a hundred percent
Sam Darnold's fault. And I've seen him do that at USC. And I saw him do it last night and you're
going to see him do it again. And I saw Fav do it in his 18th year. And Andrew Luck, he'll be doing it
the rest of his career. But there's instincts and you can't coach him. And there's something
called maturity and leadership and dude qualities. Sam Darnold is a dude. We've all had guys like this
in our life. When the fit hits the shan, who do you turn to? You get in a divorce. You got to move.
Your life stinks for 48 hours. Who's the dude you turn to? That's what Sam Donald is.
That's what the great ones are. That pick six wasn't a problem. It's the first of many. I predicted
you have 18 interceptions this year. But the pick six last night provided me the opportunity
to let you see what I've been talking about.
There's no reason to compare him to Baker-Mayfield.
I think Cleveland took the wrong guy.
I think the Giants in New York made a tragic mistake.
They were afraid of the pushback if they drafted Sam Darnold.
And because of that, for the next 15 years,
Giants fans are going to watch the best quarterback in New York on somebody else's team.
It's not about arm.
Tom Brady doesn't have a great arm.
Montana to have a great arm. It's not about mobility. Peyton Manning ran like a batting cage.
It's about dude qualities. Are you a dude? Will other alphas, rich guys, follow you over a hill?
You watched Donald on the sidelines last night? Do you watch him? Like just high five and
slap and talking? Watch the lion sideline? Like nobody talked. Last night, here's what I want.
I don't want moods.
I don't want poses.
I don't want nicknames.
I don't want bragging.
I want humble and victory, strong in defeat.
Congratulations to the New York Jets.
The next 12 to 15 years,
and Chiefs fans are feeling it after the weekend, too.
You got your dude.
That is a great feeling in the NFL.
You got your dude.
now fix that offensive line get a tight end draft another running back but you got your dude let me shift
to john gruden i've been a doubter since day one i have been a doubter since day one and let me say
first of all Oakland the organization it'd be tough for belichick to win there this is this is not
easy they actually are being sued by their city
They don't really know where they're going to play next year.
Last night, my wife said, is that a baseball stadium they're playing in?
And I said, yes.
And it's actually not only a bad football stadium.
It's the worst baseball stadium.
So the Raiders are playing in a baseball stadium, and it's also the worst.
They tarp off the upper deck.
They've got the poorest owner.
You know what?
The Raiders Stadium right now is the restaurant my wife refuses to go into because the
bathrooms are filthy and the floors are.
dirty. It's hard to win there. But that wasn't good. That wasn't good last night. Second half,
no communication. Derek Carr, receivers grew no communication. Outscored 23-0 second half.
And by the way, the Rams didn't play any of their top players in preseason. They didn't play
any of them. The Rams had the fewest starters taking snaps of any team in the NFL in the preseason.
So they needed a first half to warm up on the road, and they did, and then it was like embarrassing.
And I'm not saying it's easy because outside of linebacker, the Rams are good everywhere.
And even at linebacker, it's not like it's a massive liability.
They are loaded in the secondary, loaded defensive line, terrific offensive line,
superstar at running back, way above average, wide receivers, and a really good head coach,
and a top defensive coordinator.
And Jared Gopp is really special.
So I'm not saying it's easy.
are a mess and the Rams are exceptional.
I mean, the Rams last year had the coach of the year,
they had the offensive player of the year, they had the defensive player of the year,
they had the special teams coach of the year, they're good.
And the Raiders are a mess.
But 10 penalties in the first half,
no adjustments couldn't score in the second half,
lack of communication, Derek Carr,
called a timeout, two and a half minutes into the game.
That wasn't good.
I didn't buy the John Gruden.
higher. I like him as a broadcaster, and I thought he was a fine coach. But I do think his brand has always
been better than his accomplishments. But last night, 20 years ago, John Gruden was Sean McVeigh.
Last night, John Gruden was schooled by Sean McVeigh. He was. That's what it looked like.
This league is not about scripted plays.
The Chicago Bears on scripted plays looked like they were way better than the Packers.
Alex Smith is excellent on scripted plays.
Brady's good.
Rogers is good.
Breeze is good when you're off script and you've got to make stuff happen and you've got to adjust.
This is a league of adjustments.
Rams didn't play anybody in the preseason, none of their stars.
So they needed a half to get going.
and that second half, man, that's bad.
That looked disorganized.
And like, you know, we all know
good sometimes can be difficult.
What's the difference between good, pretty good, really good,
but bad, bad food, bad movie, bad restaurant, bad traffic,
you can spot that.
Bad coaching.
That looked second half.
Detroit looked like a poorly coached team.
And Oakland in the second half looked like they got completely absolutely.
out-schemed, out-communicated, and worked.
Didn't buy the hire.
Still don't buy it.
Maybe it'll all come together in Vegas.
Coming up next, oh, I know what you're going to say.
I know you're going to crush me.
I know you're just going to go to that Twitter
and not like what I have to say, millennials.
But it's true.
Did you say off Twitter last night?
Oh, no, I was on Twitter last night.
I was on Twitter last night.
You're going to crush me next, but it needs to be said.
I'm going to say it.
45 minutes from now,
heard hierarchy at the top of next hour.
Peter King, we got Trent Dilfer.
We got a lot of stuff today.

I see.
Oh, I know you're going to crush me for this,
but there are generals and there are soldiers.
In appearance matters.
It does.
You don't want to look like a frat boy,
especially when you've never accomplished anything,
especially when all of Bill Belichick's assistants flame out.
But Colin, Bill Belichick wears on the sideline,
it doesn't matter.
He's the greatest coach ever.
Okay. Certain guys can come to work. They have the corner office. They don't have to wear a tie. You're an intern. Champ, do better. Matt Patricia on the sidelines looked like a chump. That's a mess. Hat on backwards guy? First gig. Had on backwards guy? If somebody applied for an internship came into my office looking like Matt Patricia on the sidelines, I'd be like hard pass. Come on man. Don't talk about Belichick.
You're not Belichick's valet.
It's your first NFL job.
This is Monday night football.
You're on the sidelines.
That whole sideline.
Did anybody ever talk to him for three and a half hours?
A coach, a player, any communication?
I mean, that just didn't look good.
Nothing about that looked good.
Everything about that looked like a soldier, not a general.
In the last two games, Matt Patricia has been shredded by Nick Foles
and the youngest rookie quarterback ever.
I mean, that just, there was nothing about Matt Patricia.
I know what you're saying.
Colin, looks don't.
Hey, they do.
You ever see Sean McVan on the sideline?
Dude, look sharp.
You ever see Kyle Shanahan on the sideline?
He looks sharp.
You don't look like a slob.
Well, it matters, especially when you're new and you're young and you're unproven
and you come from an organization where everybody like you that got a job, it doesn't
work, especially when you're in a losing culture, especially when you're on Monday night football,
especially when you're in an organization that's looking for the guy.
And you look like kind of a chump.
Come on, do better.
You're not a frat boy.
There's only 32 of these jobs in the National Football League.
I've said this before.
Jerry Seinfeld would be just as funny if he was in Bermuda trunks.
But Jerry Seinfeld goes on stage and Chris Rock goes on stage.
And they look the part.
They make you feel like that $150 for your ticket, you're getting a performance.
I mean, Muhammad Ali is the best fighter I've ever seen.
He always wore those clean white trunks.
He could have worn Bermuda trunks.
He'd have still beaten Foreman.
He'd have still beaten Joe Frazier two times.
But Ali was more than boxing.
Ali was iconic.
Rinaldo, Messi, Ali.
It matters.
Pat Riley's appearance, it matters.
I'm not saying it's everything.
I'm not saying it's a huge thing.
But if you apply for an internship and look like that, dude, no thanks.
And a kid came in, worked his tail off.
At least he would be paying me the respect if he put his hat on.
I wouldn't want a hat, period.
But I mean, that was almost disrespectful.
Like, this is an NFL head coaching job.
You're a rookie.
All the guys from New England failed.
It's Monday Night Football.
You're representing a city, an organization.
And by the way, kind of a dysfunctional one.
You look dysfunctional.
Go ahead, rip me.
Go to social media.
What do we all got to be robots?
No, just don't be a frat boy.
Don't wear a hat to a steakhouse.
Dress like Seinfeld on stage.
You want to be taken seriously?
Part of it is when you walk in the door.
What do they always say?
Women make a decision in two minutes, guys make it in eight seconds.
Impressions matter.
And when you haven't proven anything,
and the last time I saw you coach, Nick Foles through for 19,000 yards against you,
and you're the Detroit Lions and it's Monday Night Football,
and you're facing Sam Darnold, and that's not good enough.
Sorry.
I'm not saying it.
Listen, it's not like I'm not expecting George Clooney on Oceans 11.
I don't need James Bond.
I don't need Pierce Brosnan.
I don't need Denzel.
I don't need a tuxedo.
But it was something.
I can't be the only person that looked at that and thought, come on.
Pencil, hat backwards.
It's not good enough.
Sorry.
Joy Taylor.
She's probably mad at me too.
She's closer to a millennial.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
You know, I'm a millennial, but I believe in the old school.
What do they say?
Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
Yeah, and again, people are going to say, what about Belichick?
Have you ever noticed Belichick dresses worse after every ring he gets?
Right.
I'm not with you on the backwards hat thing, but...
But I will say when you are coaching a organization like the Lions,
which truly I think go under the radar with really how dysfunctional in that they are.
They're Cleveland, but they've had slightly better quarterbacks.
I mean, Matt Stafford's a real quarterback.
Right, he's a respectable quarterback.
Speaking of Matt Stafford, he is in year two of his five-year, $135 million contract, $90 million guaranteed.
And he threw four picks against the Jets last night.
It was atrocious.
This gives him five career games with at least four interceptions.
It does.
The most of any quarterback in the NFL since he entered the league in 2009.
So let's compare that to some other starters.
Drew Brees.
So Matt Safford has done that five times.
Drew Brees has done at three.
Flack O.2.
Matt Ryan, Sue.
Cam Newton won.
And not surprisingly, because he has the greatest touchdown interception ratio in NFL history.
Aaron Rogers has none.
But that was impressive last night.
You know what?
You know, it's interesting because my knock on Stafford has been that his mechanics, he's sloppy.
Like, I think Matt's a terrific arm.
One of the best arms, you know, he's maybe not Cam, but it's in that Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco.
But his mechanics can erode.
His details aren't great.
And that stat you just pulled out.
I had no idea.
And then I look at that stat and I'm like, yeah, yeah, that doesn't surprise me.
Because he's always been a guy where I'm like, he just isn't buttoned up all the time with his mechanics.
I feel like at this point, if you are an NFL level quarterback, you probably have a pretty good arm.
I'm starting to kind of waver on the like, oh, he has a big arm thing.
Like, most of the quarterbacks in the NFL can throw the ball really far and really hard.
Terad Taylor, Alex Smith, Case Keenham are below what I'd want.
But to your point, most guys are good or good or better.
Right. I'm much more concerned with you being accurate and with you making quick, great decisions
than how far you can throw the ball over those mountains.
So John Gruden, one day after Kalil Mack proved emphatically
why he's a former defensive player of the year
and probably future defensive player of the year,
John Gruden wasn't going to let that be the final word.
No, not Mr. Gruden.
In an interview with ESPN's Lisa Salters,
Gruden had this to say.
Obviously, Kalil Mack didn't want a player.
You know, that's what's being missed here.
He was under contract, Lisa.
He was under contract.
He never showed up for an OTA.
He never showed up for training camp, and it was obvious he wasn't going to show up for the season.
So, you know, don't forget that.
Well, you could make that argument for Aaron Donald.
The difference is the Rams were in constant communication with Aaron Donald through the process,
and Khalil Mack and the Raiders were not, according to reports, not in constant communication.
Holding out for more money does not mean that you don't want to be somewhere.
That's right.
It means actually that you do want to be somewhere.
You just want to be compensated based off of your skill set.
Yes.
You know what it is with Gruden and I just noticed it watching his interview?
He is a master at saying something while smiling.
So it doesn't seem like he's taking a shot because he's like, you know, he's smiling.
He's like, he didn't want to be here.
Yeah.
That's what's not, you're not paying attention to the fact he doesn't want to be here.
Well, I mean, one of the things that I always thought made John Gruden a star on TV.
And he was, he's, I'll tell you something.
John is really good on TV.
He is a...
He's one of the all-time best.
He is absolute...
I mean, I've been in TV 30 years.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a former coach go on the air
and hit it out of the park day one.
I mean, Parcells wasn't great on TV.
Bill Walsh, there's been a lot of guys that go on TV.
They're smart, but they don't work.
Gruden's a TV star.
He has an absolute presence about him.
But you can keep...
A president can have a great presence.
If the economy goes into the tank,
We're done with your presence.
And so with Gruden, if you're one in five, being a TV star is going to have a lot less influence.
And people are going to start looking around the room going, where's Cleo Mac?
Right.
Well, I mean, it's a little premature to determine how successful he's going to be with the Raiders.
But I would say taking a shot at Calio Mac this week is probably not the way you want to go.
Right, right.
You may be waiting until he has a bad game.
Finally, after the Seahawks lost their regular season opener 2724 to the Broncos.
There was a lot of attention on Russell Wilson and his performance.
And Pete Carroll gave his thoughts on Wilson's season opener.
Yeah.
It always goes back to the QV.
Everybody's going to focus on that.
Russ needed to do better than he did yesterday, but we needed to help him a lot.
He could play way better.
He could have got us out of some issues early by getting rid of the football a couple times,
but things got taken away and so that he got resourceful like he's going to do.
Um, I mean, I could maybe see what he's saying.
if he hadn't been sacks six times.
The offensive line, anybody who watched that game,
I mean, when you, just think about anything else.
If you, and I'm not saying if you're watching the show,
but the easiest way to say it is,
when Sam Darnold played last night,
one of the reasons it worked was he had a couple of seconds.
1001, 1002.
Then you get some deterioration.
103, I got to get it out.
I mean, Russell Wilson was in these 1001, 100,
I mean, it was, you didn't.
get to the two count and Russell had to move. Well, now you're off your platform. Now you've got to
add lib. I mean, you can't, I'm sorry, here's the one thing. I don't know how good Denver is this
year. Here's what I know about Denver. That'd be great pass rush. Von Miller, Bradley Chubb. Denver.
That is the one thing we know about Denver. They are up front, nasty. And Russell, and the
Seahawks, here's what we know about them. The offensive line spotty. They're returning a bunch
of guys. And we know that Russell Wilson has to sometimes make miracles happen. I mean, look,
You can say what you want about Russell Wilson, but you get sacked six times.
I don't know what else you're supposed to do.
Six times for 53 yards.
I mean, that's what more can he do?
Yeah.
Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
You know, you can tell when companies or businesses are people are truly special by the number of people they affect.
I mean, when Howard Stern went to.
satellite, he ended FM morning radio and created satellite radio in one move.
He changed two industries, created one new one satellite and ended another one,
FM morning radio, like stations literally switch formats that had Howard on because they
couldn't get ratings.
Kaleel Mack, think of the impact, and I was a big believer in Chicago getting Kaleel Mack,
Oakland keeping him, or the Packers getting him.
Think of the impact
Kaleel Mack has had this week.
Story this morning, Aaron Rogers might not play.
Against Minnesota.
I don't know if you've noticed.
They will be Green Bay's
primary challenger
for the NFC North Crown.
Aaron Rogers is hurt, and he's hurt
because with Kaleel Mack
playing basically a half,
you can't double him,
and if you do it, leave somebody else open,
and Aaron Rogers was under duress in the first half.
Oh, by the way,
Here's the other impact.
The L.A. Rams, Jared Goff, had all day to throw last night.
He, of course, would not have had all day to throw if Khalil Mack was on the Raiders.
Then there's the other impact that the Chicago Bears' defensive front is going to be filthy for several years.
That's a real team.
Now, I think they're limited at quarterback with Mitch Trubesky.
I think that's a college offense, but they led the Green Bay Packers in Lambo with Aaron Rogers 20-0.
and Aaron Rogers was this close to being gone maybe for several weeks.
And all I heard yesterday was Aaron Rogers is this and Aaron Rogers is that.
You know what Aaron Rogers is?
Hurt again because of Khalil Mack and the pressure and the schemes you have to change when facing Kalil Mack.
He has affected four teams.
Chicago is now a force to be reckoned with.
They would have won that game if it was in Soldier.
Oakland, they have no pass rush.
Rams, second half last night, Jared Goff,
he might as well been in a lazy boy recliner.
And Green Bay, their star quarterback is hurt again.
I always said this about Uber.
You know Uber is a force.
It's ending taxi cabs, ending them.
The DUI rate in America has plummeted.
People aren't in their cars.
restaurants and bars have gone through like a seven-year climb.
Why?
You can have an extra drink and get in an Uber.
Don't have to drive home.
Employment rates all over America, if you accept Uber, your unemployment rate goes down.
I mean, because you have so many drivers in the city.
I went to Vancouver, B.C. about three weeks ago, if they don't have Uber, it's no fun.
it's no fun
I'm so addicted to Uber I'm like
I'm supposed to get around
I'm supposed to get around for cabs
cabs
well you know is blockbuster video around
cabs
seriously what did you do
hitchhite I mean it was ridiculous
I took a bike
I biked around a couple places
I walked a lot in dress shoes
it's terrible I ubered to
get my nails on a few weeks ago
and my phone started malfunctioning
and I started panicking
I was like I'm too far away from my house to walk
I don't know how I'm going to get home.
I'm going to have to ask a stranger to call for me and give them cash.
What do I do?
That's when you have an impact.
When you impact several different areas, just look at Cleo Mac.
One week, he affected four teams.
I'm going to call a cabin, wait 40 minutes for them to get here.
Listen, I've said before, there's just certain positions in football.
Quarterback left tackle pass rusher.
Let's pay whatever it takes.
I don't care what it is.
I don't want to hear about it.
Tyron Smith, Dallas Cowboys left tackle.
Just pay him.
Figure out the rest later.
Go to your account and say, we pay this guy a lot.
You pay your quarterback if he's a star.
You pay your left tackle if he's a pass rusher.
Well, you didn't say JJ Watts.
JJ Watts never healthy.
He's always hurt.
Kaleo Max never hurt.
He plays every game.
He's never hurt.
You pay him.
That was big time first world problems.
That conversation we just asked.
Yeah, it is.
What do we do without an Uber?
You know, something else.
I'm going to get my first heard hierarchy in about 30,
minutes from now at the top of the hour. Peter King is going to be joining me in less than eight
minutes. I will say, though, I do want to say this. I need a touch on this.
Is that when I was at ESPN, one of the things I always tried to make a point of is given the
West Coast some love. East Coast, ESPN was East Coast. And I always felt like, you know what,
man, I don't want people out West, Denver West to feel like nobody's paying attention to
them. So I was the one guy at that network. They did recent.
that was embraced by the West Coast.
Oh, he's our guy. He talks West Coast.
Now I'm out west.
So I'm out West now, and I drive to work every morning thinking,
how can I include the East?
I don't want you to see me as just some guy out here.
So when LeBron, I was told six months ago by somebody in Los Angeles of note,
LeBron's going to the Lakers.
And I'm like, how do you know?
He said, because Magic's telling people he's ours.
Okay.
But I kept saying on the air, yes, Lakers, Lakers, Lakers.
But I would include Cleveland, I would include Philly, even though I knew he had no chance.
He couldn't stand Dan Gilbert because I didn't want to come off as an abject homer.
It matters to me.
When I was out east, I wanted to west to know I care.
Now I'm out west, I want the east to know I care.
So I've been very, very reluctant to say what I'm about to say.
Rams are outrageously talented.
There's three teams in this league that were really good last year.
Eagles, Vikings and Rams,
and the Rams added stars.
Akib Talib, Marcus Peters, and Domen Su.
And Jared Goff now is no long...
Let's be honest.
Jared Goff last year, it was his rookie year.
That was a wasted first year.
Last year was a rookie year.
Jared Goff looks really poised.
His arm looks stronger.
He just looks better.
Aaron Roger's arm got better over his career.
It did.
He didn't throw like that out of college.
He threw like that 50 years in the league.
Jared Goff's arm looks stronger.
He looks a little bigger.
He looks more in control.
Sean McVeigh is no longer a rookie coach.
He's not a rookie coach anymore.
Not trying to figure out how do I coach.
It's what do I do next level.
Chris Carter said this on first things first, man.
That offense, that defensive line, those special teams, that punter, that kicker,
those corners, that safety, I mean, they are absolutely stacked.
Here's Chris Carter this morning.
I can predict a lot, because I've seen so many games, so many films.
I can predict where the ball is going to go, formation and tendencies.
But when I watch the Rams, they're one of the few teams.
I don't know where the ball is going to go.
Jared Golf running this offense and their ability to attack all parts of the field
and running the ball, passing the ball, play action.
I think it's very special.
It's going to be an exciting year for Rams fans.
Listen, the Vikings, the Eagles, and the Rams were all good last year.
The Rams added stars.
Nothing wrong with Michael Ben.
in Philadelphia, he's a good player.
And not long with Kirk Cousins, he's better
than Case Keen. You're adding like
two, three elite corners, elite
defensive tackle. Now you have a
quarterback. They are
stacked.
Most of you East Coast fans didn't see it. You went to bed
because it was Monday night football. There were two games last night.
So mostly you didn't see the second half
of last night's Rams Raiders game.
They didn't play any other players in preseason.
They didn't play any of them. So the first half
was a preseason game for the Rams. But the second
and half, 20s 3-0-0, they were just destroying the Raiders.
The Raiders, it looked like a Rams TV show and the Raiders were extras.
That's what it looked like.
Peter King, next, The Herd.

Doug Gottlieb, Trent Dilfer,
Peter King, Rod Woodson,
Peter King, NBC Sports Scheduled to come on the show.
We're enabling that,
working through some problems right now.
We'll have him.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
So one of the things, you know,
I make predictions going into a season,
and I've said, like this morning,
obviously, I said,
Sam Darnold's the best of these quarterbacks.
Nobody in Ohio.
Yep, yep, yap, yap, yep, yep, no talking.
Baker Mayfield cannot beat out Terrod Taylor.
Teddy Bridgewater is better than Terod Taylor.
Jets were like, let's trade Teddy Bridgewater.
Sam's ready to go.
So all you Oklahoma Sooner fans, yep, yep, yep, yep.
All you Browns fans, yep, yep, yep.
I could just rub it in all day.
I could rub it in all day.
I won you lost, but I'm not going to.
because I want to see Baker Mayfield succeed.
I do.
Football stinks when quarterback plays bad.
Wouldn't it be fun to have like this guy that's Johnny Mansell but actually can play?
And Baker's got some Johnny Mansell quality.
A little small, little mobile guy.
He's a way better quarterback.
He's a way better thrower than Johnny Mansell.
And plus I think he has his act together personally.
A little cocky for my taste.
Not quite as athletic as Johnny Manzell.
I mean, Baker's a two-time walk-on.
There's no value in it for me.
I don't get paralyzed by being right.
I want to get it right.
Fans, you want to be right.
I get paid the same right or wrong.
I want to get it right.
And I've said from the very beginning, Baker-Mafield can play.
So if Baker-Mayfield's a bust, I don't look good.
I don't look good.
Everybody's going to go, oh, you said he could play.
I don't want him to bust.
I just think his ceiling is way lower than people in Ohio.
do. And I think Sam Darnold's ceiling, though maybe not Andrew Luck, is way higher than Baker Mayfield.
Here's what I worry about.
Is that I do think there's a handful of players that are so good they can overcome dysfunction.
Carson Wentz, you could have put him in Cleveland, and he's so damn talented, he'd overcome it.
Andrew Luck is so talented, you can put him with Jim Ursay and Ryan Griggs and the GM and a battle line, wrong coat.
He can overcome it.
I'm not even sure Sam Darnold could do that.
One of the reasons I like Sam Darnold, I like the Jets coaches, I like their offensive
coordinator, I like their backup quarterback, I like their defense.
I'm not sure Sam Darnold's good enough to overcome Cleveland, but he would have had a
better chance.
Sam Darnold's good.
I still don't think he's as talented as Andrew Luck.
But I think he's close.
He's the closest thing to Andrew Luck.
And if Andrew Luck had gone into the league and not had a dysfunctional organization, he would
be on his like seventh straight great season.
Instead, we're crossing our fingers hoping he can stay healthy.
There's no value in it for me.
I could just stomp on the Browns all day today.
There's no value in it for me, Baker-Veyfield's stinking.
By the way, the NFL ratings at the end of the year last year were going down.
Part of it was, Deshaun Watson got hurt.
Aaron Rogers got heard.
Carson Wentz got hurt.
Andrew Luck got hurt.
Football stinks when quarterback plays bad.
That's why I love Garoppolo going to the 49ers.
It's like, okay, I'd rather watch him start somewhere than sit behind Tom Brady.
I don't want to see great backup quarterback play.
I want to see backups get jobs.
I like Kirk Cousins now.
Case Keenham can go somewhere.
I want to see good quarterback play.
And I do believe Baker Mayfield can play.
Not as good as Donald, but can play.
Here's my concern.
People with low self-esteem are like teams with low self-esteem.
They overreact.
They overreach.
They're easily influenced.
They're easily persuaded.
They have a plan and they just scrap it because they freak out.
And when Sam Darnold was doing what Sam Darnold did last night,
owner of the Cleveland Brown, Jimmy Haslam, is watching that.
And he's already getting dog for not taking Carson Wentz.
And by week four or five, if Sam Darnold's like three and two,
he's going to be getting dogged.
You took the wrong dog.
You should have taken him.
and you took Baker.
So every time
Sam Darnold wins,
don't kid yourself. Tarad Taylor's got no chance here.
Hugh Jackson's got no chance here.
Every time, I'm watching that game last night,
and Sam's doing what Sam does.
He throws a pick six, he's a little reckless,
and that's what Sam does.
And then goes to the sideline,
mad, focuses in, comes back, doesn't bother him.
That's what Sam does.
And Sam runs, and he throws well when he runs,
and he sends his pressure and he's tough and he's mature and he's a dude.
But as I'm watching that, I'm also thinking, you know who's watching that?
Low self-esteem Cleveland Browns.
And every W. Sam posts, Cleveland doesn't look good.
Looks like they don't know what they're doing.
And you start looking at the jet schedule.
Now let's put the jet schedule up for our radio listeners.
I'll try to make this as easy to consume as you can.
But the Jets are already won an O, and now they get a host of Miami.
They can be 2-0.
And then they face Cleveland, certainly could win that game.
They could be 3-0.
Donald will struggle at Jacksonville.
That may be a three-pick game for him.
He'll lose.
But then they get Denver at home, and they get Indianapolis at home.
And then they'll struggle against Minnesota, but they go to Chicago, Miami, and Buffalo, and Tennessee, and you get my point.
Sam Darnold could win some games, and especially in September.
Those first three games, he could be three and no.
My guess is he's probably two and one.
We have a stinker in there.
Sam Darnal's going to have a few of those.
It's going to have 18 picks I predicted.
But Cleveland, if you look at their schedule, oh, no, no, it's tough.
And I would, if I was Cleveland, now look at Cleveland's schedule.
They're in New Orleans this week.
The Saints are pissed.
they lost at home to Tampa.
That is an angry Saints team at home.
And then they have to play Baltimore and the Chargers
at Pittsburgh and Kansas City in Atlanta and Houston.
Oh, there's a lot of good defenses.
There's a lot of good pass rushes.
You've seen Carolina's front seven?
Oh, they go in a row.
Cincinnati's front, Houston's front,
Carolina's front, Denver front, Cincinnati.
Oh, oh, there's a lot of sacks there.
and what I worry about,
Tarad Taylor's a better athlete than Baker-Mayfield,
and Terrod Taylor can run around and avoid some of that stuff.
And I just, I'm watching Sam last night,
and my takeaway is Jimmy Haslam,
Hughes got no chance, Terraud's got no chance.
Cleveland's not, you know, I had Cleveland as a six-win team.
That's about what they are.
They really should have won the opener.
But Darnold last night throwing that deep ball to Robbie Anderson,
everybody's like, whoo!
Everybody forgot about that pick six.
Cleveland's watching that game.
And I just have a feeling.
NBA camps open October 7.
I've told you the week I think it is.
October 7.
They're going to lose to New Orleans.
They're going to lose to either the Jets or Oakland, one of those two.
They may split.
And Baltimore's coming to town.
And it's a division rival.
And Baltimore's pulling away from them in the division.
And Cincinnati's want to know they're pulling away from them in division.
And they know they're not as good as Pittsburgh.
and LeBron's not in town, and it's October 7th, and the NBA camp starts,
that Baltimore game October 7th, that feels like the week.
Jimmy Haslam comes in, and Terrod Taylor has no chance.
The problem is Baltimore and L.A., back-to-back weeks are good.
Don't fall in love.
Don't worry about the Chargers week one.
That's good.
They're good.
So it worries me.
It worries me.
And I know a lot of you think this, that all I ever think about is being right.
No, I want to get it right.
This league, at the end of last year, there were a lot of games as a sportscaster.
I was like, this is a bad quarterback game.
Do you watch Houston play at the last six or seven weeks of last year?
They were unwatchable unless you live in Houston.
And even then, I don't think they were very watchable.
Do you watch the Colts last year?
Do you watch the Packers without Aaron Rogers?
It weren't very fun.
This league is as good as its coaching and its quarterback play.
Rams were fun to watch last night.
The Jets were fun to watch.
You want to know who wasn't fun to watch last night?
Detroit, Oakland in the second half.
That's not any fun.
Herd hierarchy.
Top of the hour.
Coming up next.
This is the herd.
Wherever you may be, however you may be listening, live in Los Angeles.
Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
Joy Taylor is joined.
me, Peter King in five minutes, for what was a glorious Monday night football game.
We're not paralyzed by being right.
We like to get it right.
We like to gloat a little when we do get it right.
Sam Darnel was really good.
We like that.
John Gruden struggled, which we sort of predicted.
But every Tuesday at this time for the rest of the year, 20 straight weeks,
before we get to Peter King, I do the herd hierarchy.
I spend a lot of time on this.
I have no social life.
I rank the top 10 teams.
Here we go.
Herd hierarchy.
Time is now, let's go.
The top 10 NFL teams, according to college.
Number 10.
Pittsburgh Steelers, they're like riding an amazing roller coaster.
It's exhilarating.
It's fun.
You laugh.
But if you ride it too often, you get sick.
I mean, sorry.
12 penalties, six turnovers.
But the opposite is they had seven sacks.
That led the NFL.
J.J. Watt had four.
That leads the NFL.
And they got you almost six yards.
a play. But man, they got to button it up. They got to tighten it up. They're a mess right now.
And now Cleveland's good enough. So when you don't play well, you just tie them.
Pittsburgh 10. Number nine. Said before the season, Carolina Panthers have the best front seven
defense in the NFL. And they proved it. Cowboys couldn't run the football.
21 straight games for Carolina's defense without allowing a hundred yard rusher. Ezekiel Elliott got off two
runs all day. And they're also sneaky good at home. Six straight wins at home. They were six
and two last year at home. They also had six sacks. That was the second behind the Steelers in the
NFL. I may sometimes struggle with Cam Newton, but this front seven defensively is just
men, Carolina number nine. Number eight. Green Bay Packers, everybody has them going to the Super Bowl.
My reservation is this. They still can't run the football. You can't every week need Aaron Rogers
to be a superhero.
And I like their offensive line.
They've upgraded at corners.
They have a decent pass rush.
But of the 32 NFL teams, only three had a worst day run in the football.
Well, Chicago's good.
You looked at the NFC?
A lot of good defenses.
They play another one this week.
It's called Minnesota.
I like Green Bay, but I just, you can't ask Aaron Rogers,
who, for the record, heard again, to carry this franchise every week.
Number seven.
Minnesota Vikings.
Now, again, I like the Minnesota Vikings.
I've said they're going to pull back a little this year.
New quarterback, new coordinator, way tougher schedule.
But they are allowing only 15.8 points a game dating back to last year, and that's the best in the league.
There is no roster in the NFL.
They may not have as many A players as the Rams or the Eagles, but I don't know if there's a roster with more B-to-B-plus players than Minnesota.
Jimmy G, there were moments, and I know the Niners are really.
rebuilding that O-line and that running game, but there were moments he looked petrified, Vikings
at 7.
Number six.
Let's not sell all our stock on the Atlanta Falcons.
Memo, it's hard to win in Philadelphia.
They keep losing in Philadelphia.
They only allowed 232 yards against the Eagles.
That was the third best defensive performance of the weekend, and they had the second
best past defense in the NFL after week one.
So their problem was, they had 15 penalties, and they were bad in the red zone.
But it's a team that's probably going to win seven of the next eight weeks.
I have him winning the division.
Yeah, Matt Ryan drives me crazy in the red zone.
But he's not mobile enough to run it in the red zone.
He doesn't have a cannon to squeeze it in little, you know, keyholes in the red zone.
They're not going to be a great red zone team.
But they're still a really, really good football team.
Number five.
New England Patriots.
Best coach in the league, best quarterback in the league, and they had 36 yards in penalties.
Fewest in the league.
times they're the opposite of the Steelers.
You question New England's talent,
but Lordy,
are they buttoned up?
36 penalty yards. Here's what's amazing.
Even when you think
Houston's coming to town and they got
JJ Watt and they got
G'dadian Clowny and you're like,
oh, pass rush. They didn't touch Brady until the fourth quarter.
They audible out of problems.
New England five.
Number four. Kansas City,
nine straight wins over the Chargers.
And that's saying something because the Chargers got players.
Here's the other thing.
Even Vegas acknowledges that fumbles are sort of random.
But after a while, if you keep being randomly good, I'm going to go with your just good.
They have the fewest turnovers since the beginning of last year.
Like, they just don't give you opportunities.
I don't love their defense, but Patrick Mahomes is real.
Andy Reid's one of the great game planners and strategists in the league
and their offensive personnel, wow.
Tyreek Hill makes fast guys look slow.
He's got that Dion Sanders gear.
I got the Chiefs at four.
Number three.
Philadelphia, they were good.
They added better players.
They had Michael Bennett.
Helodianata.
They were already good.
And they were also without Carson Wenton in week one and beat a team that's going to be around at
the end of the year, Atlanta.
Philadelphia is good.
I was wrong on Doug Peterson.
When he came over, I was like, he didn't even call plays with Andy Reed.
How good is Doug Peterson?
They're clever, they're smart.
When it calls for it, they're wildly creative.
And they've held Atlanta, a high-powered offense to 22 points in their last two meetings.
Philadelphia 3.
Number two.
Set it before the season started.
My dark horse to win it all is the Baltimore Ravens.
They're good on the lines.
That was the most points scored in three years in the NFL.
My bad.
Four.
Held Buffalo to 153 yards.
Now, the bills are rebuilding their O line.
and Baltimore always has a Mike Tyson quality at home against bad quarterback play.
I mean, they are just, they'll just beat you up.
But there's something about Joe Flacco.
Joe Flacco, when he feels a little heat, is a different quarterback.
He just is.
Remember that Super Bowl run?
He was looking for a contract.
He was outstanding.
Joe Flacko's 10 and 5 in the playoffs.
Joe Flackos got into Foxboro and beating Tom Brady.
I got the Ravens at two.
Number one.
I'm not trying to be an L.A. Homer, but like what's the Rams weakness?
O-line, above average, D-line, scary, receivers, good to really good.
Secondary now.
Fantastic.
Running back, amazing.
Head coach, amazing.
Defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips, exceptional.
Special teams, best punter, best kicker.
I guess their linebackers are a little okay, but I mean, I watched their linebackers last night against Derek Carr.
If that's the weakness, this team's probably going to be playing early in February.
They were already good.
They added Marcus Peters and Domen Su, Brandon Cooks, Akeeb Taleb, Sam Shields.
And Jared Cook, Jared Gough, now, boy, he looked comfortable last night.
I had the Rams at number one.
And with that via the Coward Global Satellite Network.
Peter King joining us.
You know, because I broadcast in L.A., I don't want to be a homer.
And I want to be, you know, like, oh, my local team's great.
But I'm watching that second half last night.
Remember, Peter, the Rams didn't play their starters in the preseason.
So, you know, they kind of needed a half to get going.
I watched them in the second half, Peter.
What is the Rams weakness?
You tell me, what is their weakness as a team right now?
Well, in the first half, particularly, they gave Derek Carr a lot of time.
And because they're very stout, the Raiders are in the middle of the offensive line.
You know, Sue and I think their defensive front, you know, obviously everybody loves it.
Everybody says, you know, that is the state of the art defensive front.
And in my opinion, just my opinion, if one thing's going to hold them back,
it's going to be the pressure on the quarterback.
You know, corners can't hold forever, Colin.
And in the first half of that game last night, they did not pester, bother, you know,
get in the face of Derek Carr enough.
But again, that's one thing.
They're pretty good everywhere else.
I was shocked.
I said this.
If I was the Packers, I would have gone after Khalil Mack.
Listen, if I'm the Bears and I've got to face Aaron Rogers at least 10 more times over the next five years and I got Mitch Trubisky,
I have no problems paying massive money for statistically the closest thing to Lawrence Taylor I've seen.
I totally get what the Bears did.
We don't have Aaron Rogers.
How do we reduce his effectiveness?
Let's go get the modern LT.
I am shocked by how many people said,
well, you know, the Raiders, they want draft picks.
I thought it was a great move by the Bears.
What was your takeaway on it?
You simply, Booger McFarland said it on TV last night.
I wrote it a week ago.
You simply do not trade 27-year-old Hall of Fame football players in their prime.
And make no mistake about it.
If Kalea Mac plays.
in his next eight years the way he's played in the last three, he's going to Canton.
Now, that's a big if, but you draft in the NFL to find players like Khalil Mack,
and to get rid of them after he's had two years, after he's had two years in a row,
where he's had more sacks, quarterback hits, quarterback pressures than any player in football,
don't give me any justification for that.
there isn't any justification for it.
And he's a guy who over the next seven years, on average,
is going to take up about annually, about 11% of your cap.
Yep.
I just don't see the downside to that at all.
Sam Darnold, I was lucky enough to watch his first practice at USC,
and I came on the next day on the air.
I was at another company at the time, and I said,
there's this kid at USC that's 18 years old,
and I just watched them at practice, and I got to tell you,
He's the closest thing to Andrew Luck I've seen.
But I also know that Sam Darnold can be a little reckless, and he was last night.
But your initial impressions of what you saw from the Jets and Sam Darnold.
I thought that was the best team performance of the weekend.
The defense basically read Matthew Stafford's mind.
And afterwards, they said we knew where they were going with the ball.
Special teams, they had the best all around in my own.
opinion return game, even though there were a bunch of big returns over the weekend.
You know, for Andre Roberts to have two big returns and score a touchdown in the return game,
that's very unjet-like. And so I would, I say this not to demean or to take away from
Sam Darnold, but Sam Darnold played a B game last night. Yeah. He was good. And in a first NFL start
at age 21, fantastic.
But I think this, we're sort of confusing,
welcoming the next Joe Namath,
the next Johnny Unitas to football
with a great team victory.
And so I think Sam Darnel was good to very good,
and I think the rest of the team was very good to excellent.
Yeah, by the way, I think that's completely fair.
You know, I said about three,
weeks ago, I said on the air, Peter,
Todd Bowles
is the best coach in the league
with a losing record.
Every time I, first of all, they tackle
well. They adjust well at half.
They get every ounce.
Players get better for the record.
Jamal Adams is really special.
So I think your kind of summation
of it's incredibly fair. I thought
Sam
was what I've seen at Sam, but
nowhere near what he can beat. Now,
I want to go to another quarterback.
I said this yesterday that I'm a different guy today than I was in my 20s, then I have kids.
Now my kids are in college.
I see the world differently, right?
And Jerry Jones is 75.
He used to hate Vegas.
Then he greenlit Vegas.
And he used to be a player enabler and he got rid of his best receiver Des.
And I'm watching him Sunday.
And I'm watching Dak.
And I'm thinking to myself, Jerry's 75.
And he has a decision to make at the end of this year because right now Dak's outperforming his
contract.
And I'm watching that and I'm like, man, Dak looked like he had an engagement.
incredibly low ceiling.
What do you make of Dallas?
I mean, Jerry's older.
He's not blind.
He knows the NFC's loaded.
He knows Carson Wentz.
He knows these Packers, Aaron Rogers, Minnesota.
What do you make of this Dak Prescott performance this year?
What was your takeaway?
It was a terrible first game for both him and for Jason Garrett for Scott Lenehan.
You know, the offense looked poor.
and I guess I would make just two points. Number one, I understand why the question is being asked on
September 11th, but it's impossible to answer the question on September 11th. The question will be
answered on December 11 or January 11th. That's when you're going to know if long term you're going
to want to invest in Dak Prescott. Or if you're just going to want to let him play it out and
then you want to bring in a quarterback to compete with him maybe next year. We'll see.
But, you know, Dak Prescott needs to play better, consistently better, to be given a
trillion dollars in a contract. Yeah. If he plays a bunch of games like he did on Sunday,
I wouldn't pay him. And I think Jerry Jones knows he can't pay him either. He's got to be
what he was a couple of years ago and not what he has been in the last one year in one game.
By the way, Football Morning in America by Peter King at NBCSports.com, three-time national sports writer of the year.
Aaron Rogers did what Aaron Rogers does.
Not sure if he's going to play this week, but you interviewed Randall Cobb after that game.
What did Randall tell you?
Basically that at halftime, he went looking for Rogers to see how he was doing.
He went into the trainer's room and they said, hey, he's out testing it.
He's trying to get ready to play.
And then the next he saw him was Rogers was walking on the field.
after having, he said, what's going on?
He goes, I'm fine. I'm going.
And he didn't really
see a lot of,
because we're watching it on
high-deaf TV, we're watching
Aaron Rogers on one leg.
Randall Cobb
and the receivers are watching
the field. So they
can't really see, when I
talk to him, he didn't know that he only played
on one leg, but he figured it was
fairly, a fairly great
accomplishment, particularly
Colin because obviously the Packers had been zero and 111 when trailing by 17 points or more starting
a fourth quarter in their history. And so to me, that was the best game, all things considered,
of Aaron Rogers' life. You know, it's funny. And I'm sitting there and I'm watching Brady
against New England. And I said before the week, I said, I think Houston's going to win this game.
I don't know about their perenter game right now, New England. Edelman's not there. And
that first hour of football, I don't have words anymore.
Like, here's the other thing, that Brady, Aaron gets hit from time to time.
Brady didn't get hit much.
I think I've been told by players who have played with him, he audibles out of sacks
better than anybody that's ever played the game, including Peyton Manning.
But I was watching that Belichick.
And by the way, when Gronk spike the ball, Belichick after the game laughed at the
gronk spike. And I kind of feel like Brady is forcing Bill to lighten up a little bit
because Belichick would never in a million years say, oh, that gronk spike was funny, that was great.
It feels like this thing's a little fluid, but in the end, Belichick and Tom are just going to
kind of functionally make it work. Because what I saw Sunday, that first hour, Peter,
that's, that was surgical. It was surgical.
I thought that going into that game, I thought that Josh
McDaniel's biggest job in this game was not trying to invent a passing game when he only had
three wide receivers active, okay, you know, who he thought he could even remotely trust.
His job was to throw everything quick. You know, in the NFL, the average pass is thrown
at 2.7 seconds after the quarterback receives the ball. I would just bet that Tom Brady's number was
at about two or maybe 2.1.
And the reason that that's so important is he got clowny, you got merciless, you got Watt.
J.J. Watt touched Tom Brady twice in the whole game.
While his brother is getting four sacks and a field goal block in Pittsburgh, in Cleveland for Pittsburgh,
J.J. Watt has zero sacks and three tackles.
And the big reason is Josh McDaniels game planned to make sure that
J.J. Watt was not going to wreck the game. So great game for Brady.
Great game for some receivers who people don't trust like Philip Dorset, but a great game also with Josh McDaniels.
Peter King, NBCSports.com, formerly at Sports Illustrated. Great having you on a Monday, Peter.
Wonderful first week of NFL football. Good, close games. Fun. Thank you.
Thank you, Colin.
Trent Dilfer is here with us today on a Tuesday.
What a first week.
Now, last night, the Raiders Rams was actually really entertaining until about like 30 minutes left of the Rams pulled away.
I got to be honest, I thought Jets Detroit was really entertaining.
It was really entertaining.
I very rarely at this point pump my fist because I'm supposed to be like a judge, right?
I'm not supposed to be impartial.
I don't think you have to be unbiased.
No, I think it's better when I don't have a bias.
But I'm also human.
like Sam Darnold, I like the kid.
I met his parents.
I like him.
Listen, I like LeBron.
I like what he stands for.
I'm going to dinner tonight with somebody in LeBron's inner circle.
Oh, see?
Hey, I am a journalist.
Hold on.
Capital J journalism.
I have to get scoops and stuff.
Well, I am not unbiased.
I will be open about that.
Yes.
I mean, I think it's better if you're just, you know,
you're just real about it.
I'm real.
Last night I punched my fist.
I literally, I was in a setting last night with about six people.
I work out at a little club.
I go upstairs.
I grab a beer.
My son's swimming.
And I'm waiting for him.
I'm sitting up to watch the game.
And I did this.
Yeah!
And I was like, what are you doing?
You're an idiot.
You can't be just going out there going, yeah.
People are like, who, and I'm like, nothing.
I'm a journalist.
Did you do that?
Did you do that because Sam Donald threw a touchdown.
You're excited about being right about Sam Donald?
that I like the kid.
When you like, I root for people, not teams as much.
I'm literally sitting there in a group of six people and there's a guy at the end going,
yeah, yeah.
And I'm thinking, what are you doing?
You're screaming.
What are you doing?
You're being honest.
I was honestly very happy in that moment.

Good to have you in. So Jerry Jones was on, like he has a radio station in Dallas.
There's a bunch of sports talk radio stations in Dallas.
and one of them, like either he owns or the Cowboys' Own or something.
I don't have the Cowboy Games or something.
He's always on it every week.
And ideally, you don't want your owner talking every week after games,
especially games in which are terrible.
But here's Jerry Jones talking about Dak Prescott's quarterback.
We've got a quarterback somewhere between the one that you saw.
He can do some of what both of those guys do.
Our receivers did not play bad.
They did get separation.
I take issue with that.
They did get separation.
We just didn't get the ball to them.
Okay, first of all, it's a bad comp.
He's not nearly as big and strong, powerful as Cam Newton,
and he doesn't throw a ball as well as Jared Gough.
He's never going to throw it quite as well as Jared,
who throws a beautiful football.
I don't like that comp.
You know, is he a franchise quarterback, in my opinion?
Yes.
Is he mobile, strong, sturdy, and great leader?
Yes.
But he's a middle of the pack guy.
And he's always going to be a middle of the pack guy.
He's going to need help.
And I would say this.
He's got, he's a lot like Andy Dalton.
And I know what all of you think.
Colin, you're always crushing Andy Dalton.
No, I crushed Andy Dalton because all you fans out there gave him a nickname, the red rifle.
Did Dan Marino have a nickname?
Did John Elway have a nickname?
Did Dan Fouts have a nickname?
Does Tom Brady have a nickname?
Does Aaron Rogers have a nickname?
Don't be giving Andy Dalton the nickname, the Red Rifle.
And I said, no, he's like the beige water pistol because you gave him a stupid nickname.
We've all met a guy.
Like when I went to college, I met a guy.
name is Cougar. And I'm like, no, it's Bob and you're kind of a loser. Like, don't give
yourself a nickname. I don't want, and even if Andy Dalton didn't give himself a nickname, you can't
give Andy Dalton a nickname. I'm not into Maddie Ice. I'm not into nicknames for
quarterbacks. The great ones don't have nicknames. Joe Montana, what was his nickname? Four
Rings. That's all I care about. You know, Tom Brady, goat. That's not really a nickname.
It describes what he is. But, you know, so I think when I say, you know, Dez is Andy
Andy Dalton's won a division. Andy Dalton can win games.
If Andy Dalton has protection, he can make things happen.
He's sturdy. He's solid.
But he's not a...
I watched Dak in college, I think...
I said he's a better Tim Tebow.
I didn't see him as an NFL quarterback. Then he got into the league and I'm like, no,
he's got some stuff. He's a leader. He's big. He's strong. He's sturdy.
He doesn't throw a great ball. He's got an average arm.
He really has an average arm. It's not, it's not like wildly below average, but it's
pretty average. It's okay. It's not flacco.
but I don't think that comp is, I think
Dak Prescott's one of those guys.
What are your expectations?
That's it.
What are your expectations?
What are they?
If Andy Dalton is, we can win a division,
but we need some help and some breaks.
Okay.
My question is Jerry Jones is 75 years old.
And at 75 years old,
if you sign him to a four or five year contract,
that's sort of, I'm not being fatalistic here,
but that's Jerry's last franchise quarterback, like when he's really running the organization going on radio.
Look around. Carson wins twice a year.
I got back.
I'm going to disadvantage at the most important position in football.
Joy Taylor with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So obviously there was a feeling of panic in Green Bay watching Aaron Rogers go down against the Bears Sunday night.
Yeah.
But he did manage to return and bring the pack back for a 24 to 23 win.
and he told NBC's Michelle Tofoya after the game,
I'm playing next week.
Well, his head coach, Mike McCarthy,
is not so confident about that.
First off, as far as Aaron Rogers,
we're still collecting all the information
in his specific situation.
And, you know, I know Aaron wants to play
and is always driven to play,
but that's all I have for right now.
Do have some information and no decision has been made.
We're still collecting all the information.
So basically, we have no.
no new information for you.
It doesn't get any easier for the backers next week.
They have the Vikings.
And they just got a winner for the 49ers, 2316.
Well, the good news is they'll play the Lions twice, and that team's a mess.
So you've got your 2-0 against the Lions, but Chicago and Minnesota, those defensive fronts, yikes.
The Lions are a disaster.
I don't really know.
I never know really what to do in this spot because you do have to play through injuries in the NFL.
And obviously, Aaron was doing that.
I mean, you could see that he was on one leg.
But that's not sustainable for an entire year.
No, no.
Ike, you could make an argument that you got away with a win that should have been a loss.
Don't play Aaron against Minnesota.
Take a loss, go one in one.
Make sure that he's 100%.
Yeah, I mean, you kind of stole a win that you should have lost.
You really did.
You were behind 20-0 at home.
You were being outplayed.
You stole one.
And you got lucky.
You didn't win.
You escaped.
Don't push your luck.
Rest Aaron for a.
Unless Aaron is just adamant, you know.
I mean, but sometimes you have to make a decision for a player.
Players generally want to be out there.
Thank you.
But if you're your Aaron Rogers, you know, you just got that contract.
You're Aaron Rogers without that contract.
You want to be out there.
I get that.
But when you look not only just to the season, you have Super Bowl aspirations this year.
You need to make sure that you're healthy for the entire year.
Yep.
They can't win without him.
So they got to make sure he's 100%.
So the Ravens laid on the bills, 47 to 3 with a notorious Nate Pee as the starter.
He was yanked in the third quarter after going 5 of 19 for 24 yards and two interceptions.
And Josh Allen didn't do much better.
He was 6 of 15 for 74 yards and was sacked three times.
So now the bills have a big decision to make at quarterback.
And as far as the quarterback position goes, I know you guys will be asking that surely,
if not with the first question.
I'm still going through it.
Certainly respect where everyone's coming from on it.
And, you know, I'm going to continue to evaluate where we are.
dotting the eyes, crossing the T's, taking one step at a time.
Couldn't you just kept Terrod Taylor and drafted Josh Allen so you'd be competent?
I mean, did you have to bottom out?
The Boston Celtics never bottomed out in their rebuild.
Why do you got to bottom out?
Draft Josh Allen say, look what a pro-Tarad Taylor is.
Be a pro like that.
Watch film.
Tarad Taylor will show you how to do it.
You know, Baker Mayfield's lucky.
The guy that's in Cleveland now is like, that's Baker, that's what a pro plays like.
Because Terod Taylor is overachieved in most circles.
Nobody thought he was going to be, you know,
a playoff quarterback coming out of college.
Did you have to just, he wasn't the problems, clearly.
I feel like the Browns just handed the baton over to the bills.
Like, here you go.
You can have our season from last year.
This is not a position that I envy having to choose between.
And look, I'm not trying to bash on Nathan Peterman or a Josh Allen,
but that was a disaster.
Oh, it's awful.
So, I mean, what are you really picking between?
I'd go with Josh.
I think you have to go with Josh down on this point.
You're going to lose.
At least give the fans something to enjoy.
That and at least get him out there
and let him get reps. Whether they're
bad reps or not, hopefully you, this is
what you drafted him for. So, you
might as well go with the future because I think you know what
Nate Peterman is at this point.
Finally, let's end on a positive note.
Your guy, Sam Darnold, couldn't really have asked for
much better of a performance for a rookie
on a Monday night in his first start,
except for the first pass of his career, obviously a pick six,
which I think you're okay with.
Yeah. Obviously, easy fodder for Twitter and overreactors.
But he did complete 16 of 21 for 198 yards and two touchdowns,
and he thought he played pretty well.
I hate to say it, but those types of things are going to happen in the first game.
Just kind of starting to get a rhythm with all the guys.
And I'll start hitting those throws.
But other than that, I thought I played pretty well.
On that interception, I was pretty nervous.
I'm not going to lie to you guys.
But after that, you know, put it behind me right when I let it go.
I thought I had him.
And then out of the corner, you know, right when I released it,
I saw the defender and I just thought, oh, shoot.
Oh, shoot.
Yeah.
Well, to his credit, he only had four incomplete passes after that pick six.
So I know you were fist pumping at your club last night.
Actually, I missed the first three minutes of the game.
I heard this on radio.
Oh, so you didn't get to see that.
I didn't get to see this.
Well, imagine if you had seen this and then got to experience the rest of the game.
It would have been even more excitement for you.
I would have had a second and third beer, is what I would have done.
No, this is good, though.
You got, I mean, you have to be, especially for Jets fans.
I was a Jets fan for one year, one fateful year when Jason was there.
So I got to experience all of that.
And it's a good feeling to know that you have a quarterback for the future.
Absolutely.
Especially when you're looking at organizations like the Bills and the lions and Browns.
Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

work. All right, I call, I text, I lean on you all the time for stuff when I'm confused.
I thought Sam Darnal was good, not super but good. I saw a lot of Sam. He throws pretty well in the
run. What was your takeaway? Yeah, he's just Sam, we've known since he was 17. He's a kid that
has no flinch in his system. I love how he starts off as bad as you can start off, but yet he
comes back to next series, and he's decisive with his throws. He throws some balls in the middle
field with some authority, takes them down,
converts a big third down,
where he shows his movement ability,
his ability to be accurate off platform.
You know,
whenever I study these young quarterback,
so there'd be high school guys, college guys,
even guys young in the NFL.
One of the things I look for is what I call pace opportunities,
plays after critical errors.
And going back and studying Sam in high school,
studying his career at USC,
he's always better after he makes a mistake.
It's just, you know,
he's that kind of personality.
it makes everybody feel better. He doesn't panic.
He doesn't have extreme highs, doesn't have extreme lows.
I think that's one of the reasons why people were so excited to see him start as a rookie,
because it won't be too big for him.
There's going to be massive ups and downs, like there are with any young quarterback,
but he's going to handle them better than most,
and I think that's what the Jets love about him.
That's why he was in dirt, and that's why he was so like the USC,
and I think it's going to really help him have a great career.
So I get a lot of text emails today, tweets, Derek Carr's regressing.
And you know, it's week one.
But I will say this.
I do believe there are very few players that come into this league.
Andrew Luck, Carson, and Wents jump out to me that they can overcome organizational chaos.
I don't even know if Sam can do that.
I think Luck can.
I think Wendz can.
And I think Aaron Rogers could.
He's not had to face that.
But, I mean, this Oakland situation, they don't even know where they're playing next year.
You got a GM and a coach that may not get along.
The Khalil Mack thing, how's that playing in the locker room?
I like Derek Carr.
But have we, are people, is he, if I said to you, he was a 12th best quarterback in the league,
and that's a hell of an accomplishment.
Is he regressing, or did he have one or two amazing years, and we've overstated what he is, Trent?
Well, I think he's a unique passer.
I think people fall in love that they watch Aaron Rogers consider the best throw of the football,
maybe ever.
and they look at Derek Carr, and there's some similarities, the compact delivery, the way the ball comes off the hand.
He has a unique throwing skill set.
And he's had some immediate success.
And I think because of that, people maybe raise the expectations a little too high, a little too soon.
I think he can be a great player in this league.
He's had great moments so far.
I love his relationship with John Gruden.
I love the fact that Gruden wanted him and he won Bruton.
I think Gruden needs a certain type of quarterback that can handle a lot.
mentally you can put a lot on his table the quarterback needs to embrace that not get overwhelmed by
it i think that's true with derrick but the same stuff keeps getting derrick in trouble um he falls off
of his throws you saw it on the under throw of interception in the end zone yep when there's pressure
in the middle of the pocket when the pocket is being pushed at him uh he tends to fade away from
throws and make mistakes uh all correctable things and i don't think it don't think it means he's
not tough or anything that people are going to jump to conclusions, they're just aspect of his
game that he needs to sharpen. He needs to be more decisive with his perimeter goal ball throws.
Going back to Fresno State, it was a weakness and still a weakness. And again, when that
pocket collapses in the middle and he gets that people around his feet, he needs to be better.
And he corrects those two things. He continues to grow with John Gruden. The people around him get
better. And he's going to be a really, really good quarterback from this league.
What concerns you most shifting to Dallas?
I could come out and say DAC didn't look good.
It's obvious.
But specifically, Trent, what concerns you about DAC?
You know, it's the same thing that concerns me with all these guys that come out of,
let's not call it spread because that gets convoluted these days,
but kind of these pick and stick college offenses where the majority of the throws they made,
Robert Griffin third at Baylor, I can go on and on down the line.
of these guys, the majority of throws they make in college or to the primary receiver where they
pick a guy and they stick on that guy. You can be very accurate and really fool everybody that way.
True accuracy comes when you redirect your eyes. When you get to number two, when you get to
number three, are you still accurate as you're picking up receivers late as you're gathering
information on the move, as you're reloading your mechanics? Can you be consistently accurate
to two and three? I think that's why Tom Brady's the goat, because he's just,
just as accurate going to two, three, and four as he is one.
Aaron Rogers, just as accurate.
Drew Brees, just as accurate.
Philip Rivers, just is accurate.
But this new generation of quarterback that puts up these gaudy numbers and has tons of talent,
most of that is on their primary receiver.
Most of that is playing catch, not quarterback.
And playing quarterback is getting deep into your reads and maintaining that consistency.
And Dak, Marcus, Mariotas is the same way.
I can go on and on.
they get considerably less effective as their eyes moved through a play.
And DAC was that way on Sunday.
Every time his eyes had to redirect, he made some throws that weren't NFL caliber.
So again, correctable stuff, but you have to own it.
As a quarterback, you have to own it a young agency.
Yeah, this is a weakness.
And this is something I'm going on every Wednesday, every Thursday, every Friday,
and working on.
And my coaches need to script plays so that I'm not just throwing.
to number one in practice all the time. But that's high level coaching. That's high level
coordinating. That's high level quarterbacking that has kind of gone away in the national
football league because it's about chalk. It's about out scheming people. It's about getting
number one open. And that works on first and second down. That works for run the ball well. That
works in the quarterback's running. Doesn't work on third down. Doesn't work in the red zone. Doesn't
work in two minutes. Doesn't work at the end of games. You know, when you were in Tampa,
I was just about leaving and you were coming in as a quarterback
and we had guys like Hardy Nickerson, a tough dude.
And it's very rare that you can get a guy who's great,
plays a really important position, and is just a dude.
Everybody likes him.
And I'm just going to lean on you on this
because I, you know, I wasn't even a college athlete,
but to me, I think so much of football is momentum and psychology.
I would have kept Kaleel,
not just because he's great, not just because he plays pass rusher,
but because in that room, if you don't pay Khalil Mack,
you're not going to pay me if I'm the second best corner.
What did you make of that move?
I 100% agree.
Some guys have DQs, dude qualities.
We have dude qualities, the entire locker room gravitates around you.
And they respect you and they look to you.
And Kalil Mack, not just a Hall of Fame talent,
one of the top eight players in national football league,
has massive DQs.
So when you don't resign him, when you trade him, all of a sudden, now you're just giving
away all the production, which has been talked about in Nazi in the last few days.
But you also give up that sense of everybody that wants to have DQs in the locker room
that's looking at Cleo Mac, then I want to be like that guy.
Well, now that guy's gone.
So who are you looking to now?
And I think that might be one of the parts of this situation that hasn't been talked about
enough.
I mean, it's obvious.
You go to the draft.
your draft team works tire so you try to find a talent like Glyleelmaq.
And they're not going to find another one with the draft fix they have.
And that part's obvious.
But then there's that other part, that locker room chemistry part, that team building
the chemistry that Glilmac got a big part of in building that young franchise.
Now that's gone.
So I think they're probably really searching that locker room for leadership and people they can look
up to that have those DQs.
Boy, this was fun.
13 years in the NFL, a Super Bowl ring, a buddy of mine, Trent Dillford.
Wikipedia is wrong. It's 14. You know how hard that 14th year was?
I caught my butt kick.
I'm sorry, I cheated you out of a tough year. My bad.
Oh, it's brutal.
Great talking to you, bud.
Thanks, buddy. Always fun.
All right. Trent Delford.
Yeah, it's funny. I didn't have time, but I got some texts this morning.
I said earlier, what
what's the Rams
weakness? And Gottlieb's like
maybe quarterback's their
weakness. I don't know.
I think Jared Goth throws a great ball.
They should be so grateful for Jared
Gough. And I'm sure they are.
The reason that the rest of their team is excellent
because they don't have to pay Jared Gough.
Yeah, right now he's outperforming his contract.
I'm not, again, I just
feel like last year was his
rookie year. I really do. I think
yeah, I mean, his first year was a mess. I feel like last
year was Jared Goff's rookie year. I don't think anyone
blames Jared Goff for his rookie
his rookie year performance. It's pretty
obvious that that was a coaching
situation. By the way, we found out
LeBron James' weakness. That's the final hour.
We got a lot of show left. This
is the
herd. Live hour
number three. Wherever
you may be, however you may be
listening. Iheart
Radio, Fox Sports Radio and FS1,
football seasons here. Rating's up first week.
So much fun. So, so, so,
so much fun.
Last night, I wish Monday night football.
Sometimes I wish we got two games every Monday night.
I really do.
I know East Coast people don't want it because the second half of the Raiders Rams nobody saw.
But I just loved it.
I'm so happy football's back.
I got until like February 5th.
I can just talk football every day.
It's been a strong start for you too.
No.
The Ravens.
No question.
I am darn old.
John Gruden.
good about myself right now.
You want to give me the lottery numbers this week?
Blazing 5 winning week.
Thanks to the Jets.
Now, 15 minutes from now, Rod Woodson, Hall of Famer stops by.
He is fired up on John Gruden.
He is fired up on John Gruden.
Later, best for last.
I found the one thing.
I can do better than LeBron James.
But I tried to tell you about Sam Darnold.
I really did.
Some of you didn't want to listen to me about Sam Darnel.
You should have.
So hour three, let me start right there.
If there were a group of guys that were my kind of guys
and the NFL at quarterback.
Andrew Luck, Carson Wentz,
Russell Wilson,
Tom Brady,
Sam Darnold.
They're my kind of guys.
No bragging when they win.
Shake off failure.
And failure,
Peyton Manning,
Brett Farr, Drew Breeze.
Failure is everywhere in this league.
You're going to win games.
Mark Sanchez won.
Tebow won.
You're going to win games.
How do you deal with failure?
I've never said that Sam Darnold had a great arm.
It's good enough.
I've never said he has the innate skills of Andrew Luck, the size and the talent of Cam Newton.
I've also said he's a little reckless.
He plays a little fast and loose.
So it was absolutely perfect that he threw a pick six to start his career.
It was perfect because then it allowed you to see the Sam Darnold I know.
From that point forward, he had a quarterback rating of 141.
Here's a kid, youngest quarterback to ever start week one in the NFL.
On the road, Monday night football against a former number one pick Matt Stafford
and a coach, Matt Patricia, who's helped guide along with Belichick and Brady,
those Patriots to win after win after win.
There was a lot to be nervous about.
And after Sam Darnold threw that pick, he was 16 a 20, two touchdowns, no picks,
and a passer rating at 141.
and that is the Sam Darnold.
I saw four years ago at a USC practice,
and I came out the very next day on the air,
and I said, folks, we got another Andrew Luck.
I just saw him for the first time.
He's 18.
And Andrew Luck, by the way, doesn't have the world's greatest arms.
And Andrew Luck, by the way, throws pick sixes,
and is going to throw more.
Sam's going to throw more to those.
Brett Farve had 29 interceptions in what is 15th year?
Remember Brett Farve's last memorable pass
threw across his body, picked off.
Ruined the Vikings' chance to get to a Super Bowl.
After the game last night, Darren Lee, quote,
dude smooth under pressure, doesn't get rattled.
We weren't worried whatsoever.
He needed to throw that pick six.
And it was all his fault, by the way.
It was nobody else's fault.
It was 100% Sam Donald's fault.
And I've seen him do that at USC,
and I saw him do it last night,
and you're going to see him do it again.
And I saw Fav do it in his 18th year.
and Andrew Luck, he'll be doing it the rest of his career.
But there's instincts and you can't coach him,
and there's something called maturity and leadership and dude qualities.
Sam Darnold is a dude.
We've all had guys like this in our life.
I predicted you have 18 interceptions this year.
But the pick six last night provided me the opportunity to let you see what I've been talking about.
There's no reason to compare him to Baker-Mayfield.
I think Cleveland took the wrong guy.
I think the giants in New York made a tragic mistake.
They were afraid of the pushback if they drafted Sam Darnold.
And because of that, for the next 15 years,
years, Giants fans are going to watch the best quarterback in New York on somebody else's team.
I don't want moods. I don't want poses. I don't want nicknames. I don't want bragging. I want
humble and victory, strong in defeat. Congratulations to the New York Jets. The next 12 to 15 years
and Chiefs fans are feeling it after the weekend too. You got your dude. That is a great.
feeling in the NFL.
You got your dude.
Now,
fix that offensive line.
Get a tight end.
Draft another running back.
But you got your dude.
Let me shift to John Gruden.
I've been a doubter since day one.
I have been a doubter since day one.
And let me say,
first of all,
Oakland,
the organization,
it'd be tough for Belichick to win there.
This is not easy.
They actually are being sued by their city.
They don't really know where they're going to play next year.
Last night, my wife said,
is that a baseball stadium they're playing in?
And I said, yes.
And it's actually not only a bad football stadium.
It's the worst baseball stadium.
So the Raiders are playing in a baseball stadium,
and it's also the worst.
They tarp off the upper deck.
They've got the poorest owner.
You know what?
The Raiders Stadium right now is the restaurant,
my wife refuses to go into because the bathrooms are filthy and the floors are dirty.
It's hard to win there.
But that wasn't good.
That wasn't good last night.
Second half, no communication.
Derek Carr, receivers grew no communication.
Outscored 23-0 second half.
And by the way, the Rams didn't play any of their top players in preseason.
They didn't play any of them.
the Rams had the fewest starters taking snaps of any team in the NFL in the preseason.
So they needed a first half to warm up on the road.
And they did.
And then it was like embarrassing.
And I'm not saying it's easy because outside of linebacker, the Rams are good everywhere.
And even at linebacker, it's not like it's a massive liability.
They are loaded in the secondary.
Loaded defensive line.
Terrific offensive line.
Superstar at running back.
Way above average, wide receivers.
And a really good head coach.
and a top defensive coordinator.
And Jared Goff is really special.
So I'm not saying it's easy.
The Raiders are a mess and the Rams are exceptional.
I mean, the Rams last year had the coach of the year,
they had the offensive player of the year,
they had the defensive player of the year,
they had the special teams coach of the year,
they're good.
And the Raiders are a mess.
But 10 penalties in the first half,
no adjustments couldn't score in the second half.
Lack of communication, Derek Carr,
called a two-time.
out two and a half minutes into the game, that wasn't good.
I didn't buy the John Gruden higher.
I like him as a broadcaster, and I thought he was a fine coach.
But I do think his brand has always been better than his accomplishments.
But last night, 20 years ago, John Gruden was Sean McVeigh.
Last night, John Gruden was schooled by Sean McVeigh.
Good sometimes can be difficult.
What's the difference between good, pretty good, really good, but bad, bad food, bad food, bad movie, bad restaurant, bad traffic, you can spot that.
Bad coaching.
That looked second half.
Detroit looked like a poorly coached team.
And Oakland in the second half looked like they got completely absubstable.
out-schemed, out-communicated, and worked.
Didn't buy the hire.
Still don't buy it.
Maybe it'll all come together in Vegas.
Coming up next, Rod Woodson, Hall of Famer,
strong opinions on what he saw with the Raiders and John Gruden.
Plus, I found the one thing I do better than LeBron.
That's all coming up.

Very good chemistry for the first show.
Chemistry is hard to create.
You and I add chemistry instantly.
And that's hard to create.
Well, we're Capricorns.
That's right, we're Capricorns.
We're demanding.
What else is?
We're impossible.
We're crazy.
Crazy.
Dramatic.
Irrational.
Super smart, though.
Stubborn.
Yeah, we're stubborn too.
But you know what is?
It's because we're climbers.
That's right.
We're always trying to be better.
Is that mean we're insecure or secure?
What does that mean?
I think we just, we're just always, we're striving for more.
You know, we don't settle.
Yeah.
Who settles?
You know what?
Except settlers.
Keep up.
That's not settlers.
Lewis and Clark settled.
We're not settlers.
We're going places.
Yeah.
Advancing.
Yeah, exactly.
That's how I see it.
Not instability.
We're advancing.
17 years in the NFL.
I've had multiple players in my life tell me.
Rod Woodson's one of the all-time great teammates, a Super Bowl champ,
11-time Pro Bowl, which is inconceivable.
Hall of Fame member, let's bring in Rod Woodson.
By the way, 10 years were the Steelers, but also a couple with the Raiders.
If I'm a Pisci, what does that show me?
Let me think.
Gemini are two different people.
A Pisces is a scorpion?
So somebody look up Pisces.
Pisces are a fish, right?
Yeah, Pisces is a fish.
They are selfless.
They're willing to help others.
Good teammate.
Without hoping to get anything back.
It's a water sign.
It's a water sign.
Empathy.
Oh, empathy.
Emotional capacity.
Yeah, I cry a lot.
I cry a lot, too.
Your willing planet is Neptune.
Your what is Neptune?
Your ruling planet is Neptune.
Your ruling planet.
You're intuitive.
Yeah, so if you have time, get a condo up there, go visit.
Yeah, I guess I go visit.
So when they traded Khalil Mack as a defensive guy,
I mean, I know it's an offensive league.
I know the rules now are all lean heavily offense.
What was your takeaway in getting rid of Khalil Mack?
Because he looked good for the Bears.
He helped hurt Aaron Rogers.
The Rams could sit back in the pocket with no pass rush,
and the Raiders couldn't get to Jared Goss,
so he affected four teams.
You know, I mean, the problem I had, you know,
it's hard to have a player like,
Khalil Mack and arguably one of the best outside pass rushers outside of Von Miller in the
National Football League and you get rid of them.
I mean, you draft a guy and you got a hope in four years, he's a Kalil Mack.
But the problem I have with more than anything is, look, John Gruden came on before the
game last night and he said, it's Kalil Mack's fault.
He didn't want to be here.
He was under contract.
He wasn't in OTAs.
He wasn't in training camp.
obviously he wasn't going to be here for the regular season,
so we had to do something.
So what he's telling all the other players that's in that locker room,
if you have a contract and you're not here,
I'm going to believe you don't want to be here,
I'm going to get rid of you.
You can't think that way.
Just because he's not there doesn't mean he doesn't want to be here.
He sees his value a certain way.
I held out twice.
With the Steelers.
With the Steelers.
And the second time I held out, Bill Cowher was the coach.
And Bill and I talked multiple times in that holdout.
and he was letting me know that he wanted me,
and I was letting him know I wanted to be there.
We just had to find that mutual ground.
Sure.
And he didn't want to find that mutual ground.
So he'll blame Khalil Mack,
and I have a problem with that because when I saw that,
Khalil's not going to say anything.
Kululul's not going to be disparaging to the Oakland Raiders.
That's not his personal now.
That's not him.
I really want to climb through that TV and slap him in the eye
because I'm just thinking, man,
this guy is such a good person,
and to say it was his fault
and you didn't take any of the blame,
is not the right thing to do.
What do you make a Derek Carr?
Some are saying he regressed.
Did you see something last night that worried me?
Or worried you?
I think for the most part, when I look at Derek,
he has such a great talent.
Go back to his, you know,
Fresno State.
He was all over the place.
I mean, he was athletic.
He could run around.
He's making plays with his feet.
He's throwing these awesome passes in the air.
And then there are certain times that, you know,
when you look at Derek Carr,
And if, you know, let's go to a certain, I want to show you a clip of the game last night.
And it was in the third quarter and he's there.
And, I mean, there's no pressure.
It's third and five.
There's no pressure.
And instead of trying to find, you know, some room or extend to play with his feet,
panicked.
He panics and throws a ball away.
And I know he's been hurt the last two years.
I get that.
But if you play that whole time in your mind frame that you're always going to get hurt
and you can never use your God-given ability, which he has.
this talent. Some of those times
he just makes those type of plays and then the
last play for the interception
with the linebacker, you know, why he
threw the ball into the flats and then he get to
pick six with Marcus Peters. You know, those type
of things you question like
what was he seeing, but I think he
does have talent. But listen, in
1987, I came into the league. Chuck Noah's
my coach. Yeah. And the first
week I was there, he said, it's not about talent.
Everybody's talented.
It's about two to one mental capacity
to physical. And he
has to learn how to play this game at a certain level if you want to be the best.
And you have to apply that in the games and practices every single day to separate yourselves
from the average guys.
And right now, Derek hasn't done that on a consistent basis.
He does it, but not on a consistent basis.
Tony Gonzalez sounds a lot like you.
You guys are grown-ups.
You take the game seriously.
You take a lot of emotion out of it.
You know, I was watching Sam Darnold last night.
And everybody knows I love Sam Darnold.
I've been talking about him for years.
But I've said, I don't think he has a great arm.
It's good enough.
I don't think he's a world-class athlete like Cam.
But what I do think he has was reflected last night.
That's not going to be his first pick six.
He plays reckless.
Brett threw a lot of them.
Luck throws a lot of them.
But there is something about his mental capacity and his toughness.
He was a linebacker in high school.
And then you meet his parents in their salt of the earth.
And I've said before, there's a reason that Eli Manning and Phil Sims worked in New York.
They talked and never said anything.
Darnold is going to talk.
He's not going to say a lot.
That's Derek Jeter.
Right.
What do you see from him, because that's intangible stuff.
What do you see about it from a skill set?
What do you like?
What's average?
What's not?
Like, what did you make last night?
You know, even in preseason with Sam Donald, is that I loved his maturity that I saw on the field.
Not his play.
Forget the play.
But his maturity that he showed on the field, when he made a good play, he didn't get too emotionally high.
When he made a bad play, he didn't get too emotionally low.
He was always even-keel.
And that's what you want.
want to see from your player because he's always in the moment. He had that pick. That first throw,
you're like, what is he throwing to? It's 100% his fault. Don't throw that. But did you watch
his face the whole time? His facial expression did not change. From the time he threw it, I mean,
he like blinked like he was upset of himself. He goes to the sideline. Josh is there. Josh is a little
upset. Josh is like, let's get this thing done. But his face doesn't change at all. And that just
shows you the maturity of a young player, which you normally don't see from that type of position.
Most guys get so emotionally involved, they have a roller coaster,
and they have to learn to have the even kill as they grow into the positions.
Well, he already has it.
And that's one thing I loved about him.
And then when you watch it and you watch the game unfold,
you say, this guy's a rookie?
The other guy looked like a rookie.
Stafford looked like the rookie.
Where this guy looked like a 10-year vet because he was making all the right throws.
And he had that one touchdown, his first touchdown on the sideline to Anderson,
that was a dime.
I mean, nice plays where you're saying, you know what, most guys throw the pick six.
First throw of his career, he throws a pick six.
But he comes back and he's under control, he's poised, he's taking what the defense gives him,
and he's making plays for his football team.
That's what a leader is.
You know, I was watching the Steelers this weekend.
And, you know, Big Ben, you know, I don't think Big Ben is as precise as I love him to be.
but, you know, like Cam, he can do stuff other guys can't.
Antonio Brown's great, O-line, but it's weird.
I was saying this, being a Steeler fan is like being a roller coaster,
and you played for them for 10 years, is that, you know, seven sacks, six yards of play,
12 penalties, you know, six turnovers.
Take me inside the Steelers.
What am I to make of Mike Tomlin?
I've always compared him to Pete Carroll.
It's a little too rah-rah, a little too collegiate.
I'd like them to be more buttoned up.
I think they're so talented they can get away with it.
Mike can clearly coach.
Pete can coach.
But when you watch the Steelers,
and those Chuck and old teams were just buttoned,
Bill Cower, buttoned up,
what do you make of the Tomlin Steelers?
Well, I think Mike, what he does,
he lets his own, all his players
bring their own uniqueness to the game inside of the systems.
And when you allow that,
they're going to have some ebbs and flows.
You know, Ben is a really good quarterback.
He really is.
He makes some amazing throws.
But then he'll have a game like that.
Yeah.
Where you're like, what is he thinking about?
Why is he holding on to the ball?
The miscommunication with Antonio Brown on the deep post route,
instead of throwing it to the far side hash,
he threw it to the near side hash.
You're like, okay, where is he throwing the ball to?
That's that miscommunication that you're like, okay,
that stuff is going to happen.
The penalties, you know, the pre-snap penalties coaches hate.
You know, when you have holdings and stuff like that that's, you know,
that's physical, you can take those sometimes.
I think it's ebbs and flows, but I think Mike's a great coach.
You know, I was there a couple years ago, and if I could still play,
he'll be one of those coaches I would play for because he gets you rowed up
and he lets you be who you are.
And I think that's why they're so good still.
On a consistent basis, he lets his players bring the own uniqueness of the game.
They're not perfect.
They're going to make mistakes.
They're going to learn from those mistakes.
And then they're going to use that as they grow.
So listen, they should have lost that game, but they played the Cleveland Browns.
So they tied it.
Yeah.
You played for the Niners, Ravens, Raiders, Steelers.
And I was saying when I was watching Darnold last night, I was actually thinking about the Cleveland Browns.
Because there are certain teams in sports, the New York Mets, the Clippers Forever, the Cleveland Browns, the Bills.
They have what I call low sports self-esteem.
Is that they have always been in the shadow.
They get beaten up.
And like people with low self-esteem, they're easily persuaded.
And I'm watching Donald last night, and I'm thinking, the owner of the Browns,
if Donald keeps winning, you already passed on Carson Wentz, people are going to be like,
you did it again.
That guy's way better than our guy.
And I'm like, watch him throw Baker in against like the Ravens in week four, and he's just not ready for it.
By the way, Joe Thomas left, and they didn't draft a tackle.
They went and got a guard from Nevada who they're trying to make a tackle.
so that offensive line's not where it needs to be.
You know, did you ever, Steelers, 49ers, Ravens, Raiders,
were there different self-esteems?
Was there a locker room you were in?
And you're like, we don't have the vision.
We don't have the confidence.
We are easily persuaded.
Did you ever feel that as a player?
When I first got to Pittsburgh, it was after the Super Bowl error.
So, you know, those, you know, even though Chuck Null was still the head coach,
Mean Joe Green was our line coach.
But those days of past, we weren't that good.
That was the AFC Central and the Cleveland Browns, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Houston Oilers.
Those guys were really good.
We were getting our butts kicked.
But we still had confidence.
We just didn't have everything put together.
And we needed a couple more years to figure it out.
And as we grew, we took our lumps the first couple years.
But as we grew, and even that last year for Chuck, we were a wildcar team.
We beat the Houston Oilers in the wild cart round.
We lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
And then the following year, Bill Cowher comes in, everything clicks.
And why did it click?
It's just the systems that he brought in for us fit what we were.
We were so athletic.
We had so many great athletes across the board, especially on the defensive side,
that it vaulted our whole team up, upward.
And then I think his mindset was a little different because he was more, he's football,
football, football.
But it's interesting.
So you were on a Steeler team that was kind of falling apart,
but even as they were falling apart, you were still owned by the Roonies.
You weren't chaotic.
You just weren't very talented.
See, that's the difference.
Denver, by the way, has always been Pittsburgh with a mountain range.
Denver has had teams that aren't very good.
They never feel like they're in chaos.
Pittsburgh, even now, even though Tomlin drives me nuts, they're not in chaos.
So you were on a team that wasn't good, but because you had the right owners,
right front office, good scouts, you were able to reboot very quickly.
Your bottoming out wasn't 0 and 16.
Right.
I mean, and that, you know, that is true.
I mean, when you look at, especially the NFL, the Roonies have been there.
They've done wonderful job.
Only three coaches in a time frame that the Pittsburgh suits have been in existence.
That's amazing.
And it's amazing that they've done this, but it's the way they own the team,
the way they have their front office structured, and it trickles down to the players.
It does.
And even though Mike Tomlin is giving them the freedom to be who they are
and the social media and they do silly things and AP did this thing a couple years ago,
they learned from that.
And, you know, Big Ben has had his issues off the field,
but he's a great player on the field and he's matured as a human being.
They allow all that stuff to cultivate inside that building.
I think that makes them better.
Now, I think they're going to learn from that first game.
They're going to learn from that first game.
They're going to see how good Baltimore looked.
Even though they played the Buffalo Bills who look dreadful.
Yeah.
They look dreadful.
But I think overall, it's a solid foundation.
They got some good players all across the board.
That T.J. Watts looks pretty good.
If you have the Roonies and their scouting department, they draft well.
I always feel like the Steelers, you said this yesterday, Joy, you're from Pittsburgh.
They've been so good for so long.
But if you have the right owner in the right front office, I'm always like you'll get it figured out.
Because you won't panic.
You won't fire.
You won't.
like Pittsburgh just always figures out even between Bradshaw and Big Ben you know Tommy
Maddox had talent Neil O'Donnell had talent they they were never like on this you know the
absurd you know roller coaster where it was like new quarterback new quarterback new quarterback new quarterback new
gym like you said no tower Tomlin three coaches in like 55 years you have to have patience if you
want the camaraderie and the in the cultivate winning in a building you really have to if it's
every three years.
Oh, you're not going to talk about anything.
It's a fire.
Rod Woodson, Hall of Fame are good seeing.
Joy, Taylor, with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So, Mike McCarthy has said that the Packers are still collecting information on Aaron
Rogers injury.
Obviously, the whole sports world was panicking, seeing Aaron Rogers down, but he did
come back and said that he's going to play next week, but he has weighed in on his injury
status again, and here he is with Dan Levitart.
Well, I'm sure there's a lot of experts out there who are, you know, forecasting things,
but we're taking it to one day at a time.
Can you play, please?
One day at a time.
Get out of him.
I'm sure that's how most Packers fans feel.
Can you play, please?
No, by the way, Aaron Rogers, again, nobody thinks they're an expert.
What we're saying is you're hurt again and you shouldn't rush it.
Nobody's trying to be a doctor on the air.
No, I mean, it sounds like Aaron's been.
And plus injuries are one of those things where, like, you saw a 300-pound man fall on your leg.
Like, you went off on a cart.
It's not like you walked off on your own.
You left the building or you left the field on a cart.
It's okay for everyone to be dramatic about it.
Like, this is a serious thing.
You were injured all last year.
Yes.
Like, everyone is going, and you're Aaron Rogers.
And you just got 80 million guaranteed.
Everyone is going to be talking about your injury.
And kind of freaking out.
Right.
And they want information.
So it makes sense, though.
that you would be taking it day by day,
considering that he did come back in.
So obviously we'll be watching that all week,
and they have the Vikings on Sunday.
So there was a lot of talk about the Patriots offense
leading up to Sunday's game against Houston,
particularly the receivers,
and then there were some trade rumors about Cronk that were swirling.
Cronk was still in New England.
He had a big game, 7 of 8 for 123 yards and a touchdown,
and his contribution did not go unnoticed by the goat.
You know, they did a good job on him,
just trying to keep him out of the game.
but it's tough because he's so talented.
He's the best tight end.
In the league, probably the best to ever play the game.
When you have that guy on your team, you've got to give him looks.
And we did, and he came up big for us.
And we've all got to match his greatness, all of us, you know, in order to be a great offense.
So teams focus on him.
That gives other guys opportunities.
You know, we're going to have to take advantage of those opportunities when we get him.
Still amazing.
Brady was barely touched by JJ Watt.
Judavian Clowny.
There's a reason Brady's never hurt.
I swear to God, he audibles out of stuff.
He's figured out the quick release.
And it's not like Tom doesn't move around in the pocket.
He's moving all the time.
But nobody slides around and manipulates a pocket like Brady.
He's the greatest.
And that's a big praise from Brady calling Rob Gronkowski,
one of the greatest, if not the greatest, tight end of all time.
Kellen Winslow, Gronk.
Tony Gonzalez.
Tony Gonzalez, Shannon.
sharp. We got two of them here. Well, Gronk is right up there with all of them. And he has most yards per game.
Antonio Gates had about a seven-year window. I mean, Antonio Gates is still playing. He's definitely a
Hall of Fame. He's a touchdown this weekend. Yes, he did. Yes, he did.
Gronka's a Hall of Famer also. Oh, God, yeah. For sure. So finally,
speaking of the Steelers, the roller coaster, the Steelers have released an updated depth chart,
and there was one significant change. Levy on Bell has been removed from the official depth chart
until he shows up. James Connor
is listed as the starter,
followed by Jalen Samuels and Savon Ridley.
He's nothing official from the team yet,
but it's possible that maybe the Steelers spoke to about
and understand he's not going to be there
for an extended amount of time this season.
He's kind of slid him off there,
but the internet's watching, so...
What if...
What if...
You know, it's funny,
what if I left and somebody filled in for me
and the ratings were better?
that would be no good.
That would be not great.
If you're a pro athlete and you leave,
if like Kevin Durant said, I'm holding out
and the Warriors went in a nine-game winning streak,
you're like, remember when Blake Griffin got hurt
and the Clippers won like 10 straight?
And you're like, I always feel like that's why they traded him.
And they were like, well, I mean, good God,
our chemistry was better without Blake Griffin.
Yeah, I mean, well, for basketball,
I mean, a 9-10 game winning streak,
I think is probably a little overblown.
Yes.
look, James Conner's got to continue doing this.
This is one game.
And that's not, let's not all forget.
They didn't win.
They tied.
That's true.
The Browns.
And one of the most embarrassing finishes, I mean, nobody wanted to win that game.
You win the game.
No, you win the game.
Let's just share it and have the worst ending ever.
So I think everyone is slightly overreacting to how that game went and is forgetting that
they still did not get a win.
So it's not like, oh, Leveon's gone.
and it's no big deal.
James Connor did a good job, but I'm not going to go out and say that James Connor is as good as Leveon Bell.
Well, he's not, but the question is how, you know, again, once you pay the quarterback a ton and then you pay Antonio Brown a ton, you can't pay a running back a ton.
You can't pay everyone.
Not on one side of the ball.
It's apparent that the Steelers and Leveon are not on the same page, and he's not on the depth chart anymore.
So whatever that means.
Joy Taylor with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lye News.
Coming up, I don't mean to brag, but I found something I'm better than LeBron James at.
I shouldn't end a sentence with at.
I'm better at something than LeBron James.
That's grammatically better.
And I'll tell you what that is.
Best for Last.
Coming up next.
That wouldn't be grammar.
That would be whatever.
Yeah, I'm not saying I'm better at LeBron.
than grammar.
That's very confusing.
Best for Last is coming up.
Great to have you in.
Great to have you in.
So we do it every day at this time.
Speak for yourself.
We'll be joining us live in less than 10 minutes.
We call it Best for Last.
After almost three hours, Colin apparently hasn't gotten to the point yet.
Quit holding out on us, Cowherd.
It's the Best for Last.
All right.
There had been rumors for years, Joy, that LeBron James and,
Kevin Durant had recorded a secret sort of rap track.
And it got out on Twitter, but in the last 24 hours, the entire rap, the audio of it, has come out.
Okay.
And it was recorded during the NBA lockout in 2011.
So this is LeBron and KD doing a kind of a rap thing, a disc track kind of sort of thing.
And so I'm going to let you listen to Kevin.
DeRant and then I'm going to let you listen to LeBron.
So let's go Kevin Durant.
This is real.
This is authentic.
Here's Kevin Durant's.
It Ain't Easy.
That's what the track is called.
It Ain't Easy.
Recorded during the NBA lockout in 2011.
Here's Katie's solo on the track.
Dedication.
Hard work.
Sacrifice.
Meditation.
I meditate upon a goal that I'm trying to reach.
Grinding all day to the top.
I don't think it's pretty good me
Come and give me I'm an animal
Cutting through your brain like I'm
Now I'm grown up
I got a couple dollars on me
I spend a semester and screw
I'm going to stay.
Would you give it a thumbs up?
Yeah
I don't think that's terrible
That's our rating it
It's not bad
He has a nice tone to his voice
He definitely
He's got a rhythm to it
Yeah
That's not bad
Okay now I'm going to let you listen
to the world's greatest basketball player
who plays a lot of basketball
and should keep playing a lot of basketball.
Here's LeBron.
It ain't easy.
On the path I'm on.
But put the world on my back because I'm that strong.
Long journey I've been on from the very start.
No way I die off with his iron heart.
No chance to make it out.
That's what they said.
But look at me, I'm here.
Ball set a spread.
I don't.
I think he sounds like a great basketball player doing right.
I mean, God can't be unfair.
He can't be great at everything.
He's not great at that.
It's not terrible, though.
It's not great.
I have heard much worse.
You have?
Yes.
I have heard much worse.
Where?
I mean, on the Internet.
Now, by the way, I'm not a music expert at all.
Like, I listen to some hip-hop.
I listen to music.
My kids do.
But my takeaway is Kevin Durant's got a little skill set,
and LeBron is less skilled at what I just heard.
Do you agree?
I would say that Kevin
Kevin's verse was better, yes.
Okay, now, now is, I don't know,
you don't know this because you haven't been on the show a long time.
Oh, that's scary.
But I've done a disc track too.
Oh.
Yeah, yeah.
This summer, with Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma were doing their disc tracks.
Right.
And they were ripping each other.
I had an idea.
So I did a disc track to my arch nemesis,
John Goulet.
Oh, okay.
So this, and I can honestly say this.
I'm not as good as KD, but I'm better than
LeBron. This was my disc track
inspired by
Cusma and Lanzo Ball
on veteran newsman, John
Goulet.
John Goulet, the so-called veteran newsman.
I got to be honest. You're more like
a snooze, man. When you start
talking, my eyes start to droop, man.
And I got to admit, I don't even
know what the hell you do, man.
The show is called The Herd with Colin Cow
Hurd. It's not called the Herd with
calling some nerd. If I got rid of you, the show would
better by far. I'm the LeBron.
You're the J.R.
People always ask, why'd you hire Goulet?
I say I thought he was Jeff Saturday.
One last thing. Now we've come to the end.
I want you to know, you're my only friend.
I'm a very lonely, lonely, lonely man.
Who knew Colin had bars?
That's not terrible.
I would say LeBron has a little more rhythm than you.
Just slightly.
Are you sure you're better than LeBron
at rapping? You don't think I, that you didn't think that was pretty good. I mean, to LeBron's
credit, you did rhyme the word man at the end of like seven of those bars. So you really
could have said everything and just said man after it and then it would have rhymed.
You know, so there was that to it. You know what? That's why I left speak for yourself
because Whitlock never appreciated my talent and I had to say I couldn't take it anymore.
Yeah. That's why Marcellus Wiley is good luck to him because Whitlock will never give you the love.
he never understood my hip-hop soul.
And now I got another staff of people, and you guys don't understand my hip-hop soul.
It's very...
Did Goulet respond?
No, Goulet is...
It's all in fun.
No.
So we had Peter King today.
We had Trent Dilfer.
We had Rod Woodson today.
And, you know, it is...
Everybody knows I like Sam Darnold.
I mean, I saw his first practice.
I was at USC.
Steve Sarkesian was the coach.
I saw his first practice.
It was a cone drill.
And, you know, I've said, like, that's...
I don't know if he's...
I don't think he's as...
top to bottom as gifted as Andrew Luck, who's about as good as a young quarterback I've seen.
Same with Carson Went.
But there's a lot of qualities I really like.
But Peter King also talked about this.
In the NFL, if you have a winning record and you've been to the playoffs and you have some wins,
it's understood you're a pretty good coach.
But a lot of times you can be good at a job.
You can be a very good salesperson.
You don't have any good products.
I mean, there's a lot of good salespeople out there that, in pharmaceutical,
until they get their
Viagra, do they get their
great pill that sells for something in your heart,
something downstairs, what-evs.
You're still a good salesperson.
You don't have the product.
The best coach in the league to me
without a winning record is Todd Bulls.
Every time I watch the Jets,
and this is why I feel good about Sam Darnold.
I like their offensive coordinator.
I like their special teams.
I like their head coach.
He just hadn't had the players.
And Peter King talked about that earlier today.
It was not just about Sam Darnold last night.
They had the best all around, in my opinion, return game, even though there were a bunch of big returns over the weekend.
You know, for Andre Roberts to have two big returns and score a touchdown in the return game, that's very unjet-like.
And so I would, I say this not to demean or to take away from Sam Darnold.
But Sam Darnold played a B game last night. He was good.
in a first NFL start at age 21, fantastic.
But I agree.
I largely agree with that.
He had one nice throw deep to Robbie Anderson, his only catch.
He had a dreadful pick six.
And what I was looking for last night,
and this is what I looked for for every young quarterback.
What I was looking for from Sam Darnold,
it wasn't about stats.
I didn't really care.
What I was looking for is he overwhelmed or is he poised?
It's Monday night football.
It's on the road.
Matt Patricia is a defensive guy.
And he looked poised.
Now, he looked flustered on the first play.
But when it comes to young quarterbacks, I don't, you know,
so many, like, Cleveland Brown fans are like, what about this?
What about that?
It's like, does a guy look overwhelmed or does he look poised?
And I thought after the first pick for the next three hours, he looked really poised.
The other thing is, I loved the sideline of the Jets last night.
It was nonstop talking.
Darnold talking to people.
You got the coaches talking to people.
Like I, Donald would go to the bench and he was surrounded by his offensive coordinator.
He had Josh McCown.
There was all sorts of communication going on the entire night.
Did you see the Detroit side line?
You get the hat on backwards, pencil in the air.
Nobody was talking.
Nobody was talking to Matt, Patricia.
Like, sports is communication.
The reason the Golden State Warriors work is they communicate.
They get along.
Kerr, Bob Myers, Kevin Durant, Curry, Clay, Draymond.
They communicate the sideline of the lions last night.
Nobody's talking.
The sideline of the Jets, I mean, they were just, Matt Patricia,
everybody, nobody around him, not communicating with anybody, not turning around.
The Jets' sideline looked like a winning sideline, constant communication.
So, you know, some of this stuff in the NFL, I don't think Sam Darnold has the kind of talent
that he could walk into the Colts, go 11 and 5, 11 and 5, 11 and 5 of the terrible offensive line.
I don't think he has that.
What I think Sam Darnold is, and he doesn't have Cam's ability to not have really, you know,
to be able to run and put up chunk yards in the running game.
But what I get was Sam Darnold, if you give him the right coach and you give him a little defense
and you can keep him in games, he's going to make plays.
And he's going to make plays that Matt Ryan can't make and Andy Dulton can't make and 90% of the guys in this league can't make.
There's not a lot of guys that have the instincts of Sam Darnold.
With those instincts are going to come from really awful.
He's going to throw pick sixes.
And so is Andrew Luck, and I say it again.
Brett Farv in like his 15th year had 29 picks.
And we all love Brett Farv.
And we didn't race to Twitter every time Brett Farv threw an interception.
Oh, my God, interception, oh, my God.
No, it was Brett Farve.
That was the duality of Brett Farv.
Joe Namath, Terry Bratshaw.
That's the downside to it.
All right, radio side, we're done tomorrow.
Nick Wright, Joel Clatt.
Television side, we're back in three minutes.
Speak for yourself.
Is around the corner as well.
It's the hurt.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
