Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. Winning on Clay is an art.
Starting point is 00:01:40 The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. Jench who win? She's an outsider to win the French name. and she likes Clay.
Starting point is 00:01:59 Listen, Lerabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Listen to the Renee Stub's tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. All right, welcome to Sharper Square, presented by Hard Rock Bet. We are part of the Volume Podcast Network. This is the betting show that makes the square sharper
Starting point is 00:02:27 and makes the wise guys pay attention. I am Chad Millman. I am joined by my co-host, my BFF, my companion, my compadre, professional better, Simon Hunter. Hello, so I'm in. Chad. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Listen, I know you're feeling it. Rough, rough beat for the Cardinals, which you were heavily invested in. I'm out of Survivor because I had the Rams in one pool and the Cardinals in another. We're going to dig in all of it. We had a lot of consternation and debate on this morning's show accusations of me being immature, being nutless. You were not very nice to me.
Starting point is 00:03:12 I'm going to chuck that up to you just being upset about going to see the Phillies last night. The games we discussed the most this week, but especially today, were betting on the Broncos against the Eagles, betting on the Saints against the Giants, betting. on the Panthers against the Dolphins, betting on the commanders against the Chargers, and betting on the Jets against Dallas. All five of those teams were down double figures. In four of those cases, down multiple touchdowns at some point today. Four of them came back to not only cover but win. None of them were the New York Jets. And only one of them was a team that that we put in our final five.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Unfortunately, we did put the Jets in our final five. We will get to our early liens and entire review of how we did on all of our picks and your live comments from the chat in a sec. In case you missed it this morning, very quick announcement, we've run a totally free-to-play NFL pick-em contest for a few years in the previous iteration of this show.
Starting point is 00:04:25 It's coming back, folks. It's coming back. Thanks to our beloved sponsor Hard Rock Vet. We can now announce the return to the contest. All new, totally free, Sharper Square, NFL, pick-um contest. We'll launch very soon. I'm not giving the exact date yet. We need to figure out some final logistics before we can officially announce.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Thanks for the patience. Stand by. All right. Reminder, we had the Rams on Thursday night, so that's already an L. We were going in 0-1 today. We could be anything from 1 in 4 to 4-1. instead right now we are two and two we have the Jags plus three and a half
Starting point is 00:05:06 tomorrow morning, I mean tomorrow night remaining. Boy I wish I had been nutless and not put the Jags in the final five because man we probably would have had one of the teams we left out and we'd be sitting here three and two and really happy. Oh Simon.
Starting point is 00:05:24 First game. We're going to spend two minutes on this. Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens. It was three and a half the contest. It could have been 37 and a half and we still might have won this game. Closed at Houston minus two and a half. Look, anything you want to say about this game? Anything before I ramble on because I feel like we kind of nailed this one. You had it at Simon says at three and a half early, early in the week and it was no mystery.
Starting point is 00:05:55 I know. I wish I could be happier. Simon says two and oh, but I'm legit dead inside. This is going to be a painful podcast. Well, let's let's talk about it right now because I don't like otherwise you're just going to be you know challenging to communicate with. And people are going to wonder why. People are going to wonder why. Wonder why I'm dead right now. Yeah. Explain because the fix was in. I can't believe what I just watched that cardinals game. I don't even know if I can like I don't know if I can talk about it yet because it's just ridiculous. Everything about that game between them saying he dropped the ball before he crossed the end zone, the running back for the Cardinals,
Starting point is 00:06:34 he dropped the ball into the end zone. And they said it wasn't a touchdown. And then they basically picked off Cam Ward. And they said the guy possessed the ball and made a football move and fumbled the ball. And they recovered it for a touchdown, Tennessee. All these things happened. And we lost our survivor pool, which I love survivor pools. And yeah, just insane.
Starting point is 00:06:56 About to be up. What was it? I think it was 21 to 6. They were going to score that touch run. So it would have been 28 to 6 with like 10 minutes to go. And yeah, Kyler Murray is a loser. Gannon's a loser. That's a loser organization.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Cardinal fans. I feel so bad for you guys. Just losers top to top the bottom. Embarrassing organization. Cam Ward. That was awesome for you. But my God, just losers. Cardinals, losers.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Just I can't believe the organization. Kyler, I would literally release him today. Just guy puts up 21 points and then just looks disinterested for a whole second half. And he's just the worst. They're just the worst. So yeah, I'm hurting right now. It's not fair. It's not fair.
Starting point is 00:07:46 The Titans have been a conundrum for us for the past year and now five weeks where we've either avoided them, occasionally bet them, but generally tried to avoid them. We knew the tide was going to turn at some point. We really didn't think it was going to turn this week. Who knows if it's because Callahan stopped calling the plays. Who knows if it's because they went into Arizona,
Starting point is 00:08:15 which leaves a gaping hole in any lead that is bigger than the Grand Canyon. And we know better than to ever bet on Kyler as a favorite. we thought we were a little bit safe betting on Kyler and Survivor as a big favorite. I know you're feeling it for reasons that have to do with betting and not just on Survivor. But yeah, like, I had turned that game off. Like, you know, I had it in the four box and then I turned off that one. I turned off Cincinnati.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I left it on Seattle, which was amazing. And I left it on obviously the commanders, which was amazing. all of a sudden I'm going into my phone and both of those games the bangles and the and the titans have made it a game crazy crazy day of football for them cardinals organization you are losers fold don't exist anymore tomorrow i hope i wake up tomorrow they said yep 31 teams NFL Arizona literally folded overnight good let it be done i can't wait till we get our new segment who's the hero of the week and who's the go to the week. I feel like I know exactly you're going to go with.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Houston, by the way, just to put a bow on it because there's really not that much to say. There was one drive where C.J. Stroud was scrambling. It looked literally like he was taking a Sunday stroll. I think he kept waiting for someone to come hit him. No one ever did. He just sort of casually got bumped out of bounds. This was in the first half.
Starting point is 00:09:46 They had 17 points midway through the second quarter, more than they average all year. 243 in the first half. I think the final score was 4410. So, you know, good for us. Good for the Texans. It was nice to get an easy win because the rest of the games
Starting point is 00:10:00 were super, super challenging. The New York Jets were plus two and a half against the Dallas Cowboys. There was a massive swing from when we recorded the show this morning and did it when I was in college park to when I landed back in Connecticut
Starting point is 00:10:19 at noon. and all of a sudden the jets had gone from one and a half point underdogs to one and a half point favorites. That was because four of the five Dallas linemen, offensive linemen, were announced as being out, and Cavante Turpin was out, and Malie Cooker was out. So all of a sudden, all this money swung, and it turns out it just didn't matter because the jets are going to jet.
Starting point is 00:10:43 I mean, that was eerily, eerily similar to last week, freakishly similar to last week. Yeah, but life-fed and bad teams, they're a terrible team. I think it's 10-3. Was it Brees Hall? I think it was. He's carrying the ball for first down. Again, 10-3.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Inside the 10-yard line. Yeah, with like three minutes to go, probably, four minutes to go in the half. Fumbles, Dak gets the ball. I think seven plays, a minute 30 off the clock, scores a touchdown. Just get the ball. It's like sack, sack. They go three plays, two yards, punt. Yeah, Dak gets the ball back.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Was it a runner or a pass? And they scored a touchdown like the next play. They had a 68-yard draw. Yeah. One miss tackle draw by Giovante Williams. And then they score on the next play to a wide open Jason Ferguson. The guy had four catches and two touchdowns in the first half. Like it was astonishing how pathetic they are.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Yeah, I mean, not as pathetic as Michael Bidwell, the principal owner of the Arizona Cardinals. Just fold, buddy, if you hear this. Fold up shop. It's over. But yeah, that was a horrible experience. Like you said, we're dead at half. Like when you look at the score, I think it was. It went from 103 to 23 to 23 to whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:12:10 23 to 3. Yeah, we're dead. So, yeah, life betting bad teams. At that point, I'm just like, me and chatter, just. overthinking at cooking ourselves that number got to minus two and a half the jets before kick like just insane amount of steam came in on the jets and yeah like you said they're the jets are going to jets that game easily could have won was in their grasp they totally fell apart that played well enough and uh yeah like we said they're down four starters on the offensive line didn't matter put up 37 points
Starting point is 00:12:40 i think didn't even get any pressure on dad like he he he was so good against this jets defense and the did the same exact thing it was like they're down 10 3 they fumble the ball literally racing for the goal line brees hall had something like 81 yards on nine carries at the time of that fumble every single drive they were killing themselves on penalties they had 10 penalties in the game they had seven penalties in the first half every single time they made a good play it went back and they made it ahead of penalty you watch aaron glenn and he gets so much praise from the announcers. This isn't how Aaron Glenn coaches. This isn't how Aaron Glenn teaches football. At some point, isn't it? Like, we keep saying the same thing every week. They keep making the same
Starting point is 00:13:30 mistakes every week. Mark Schlerth wasn't calling that game. He was calling the Panthers game, which we're going to talk about. But at some point, he says, you've got to master the stuff that takes no talent. And the Jets can't even master the stuff that takes no talent. We're which is literally standing still before the ball is snapped. That's it. Yeah, they're just terrible. Like that whole game, like you said, tons of penalties. They're just, I feel bad for me.
Starting point is 00:14:00 You're totally lost if you don't have a coach or a quarterback. You know, Justin Fields does his best. Like those fumbles aren't on him, but those running back are the ones that keep killing them here. But at the same time, when it's third and nine and the game matters, you don't feel confident when Justin drops back. So, yeah, tough, tough bet, tough loss. He continues to be incredibly inaccurate.
Starting point is 00:14:21 He cannot convert on a play that is outside the numbers. No, but then again, you'll have other plays where, like, he's spectacular, so it's tough with him. He's just so inconsistent. The Jets O-line is kind of the one that looked like it was missing. 80% of the starters. The Cowboys had five sacks. Do you know how many sacks the Cowboys had the entire year?
Starting point is 00:14:48 year before the game started. Two? Five. They doubled their number in a single game. This was the best. This was the best. It was like fourth and a half yard at midfield for the Jets. And they had been slicing through the Cowboys defense.
Starting point is 00:15:08 They went for it. Instead of just running it straight ahead, they called a rollout. Two Cowboys shot both the gaps on either side of the center. basically met at Justin Fields batted the ball that he could barely get to the line of scrimmage for an incomplete throw. It was an astonishing display of incompetence. Maybe beaten today only by who?
Starting point is 00:15:37 Arizona Cardinals formerly. Arizona Cardinals. Maybe they took the victory right away from the New York Jets. All right. The one game we did put in, that we did win, of the teams that came back from double-digit leads, deficits, I mean, is our last one in. I'm not taking credit for it, but I can't. All I can say is that when it came down to the Broncos or the commanders today, I said, right when I was about to say commanders, I said, I keep feeling. Right when I was about to say Broncos, I said, I keep feeling commanders.
Starting point is 00:16:24 So we went with it. And I'm not going to lie. Like midway through the second quarter, I'm like, we could be just sitting here. And so comfortable. I could be relaxing, recuperating from my long parents weekend. Instead, I got to sweat this team. And look, it did not look good in those first 20 minutes of football for the Washington commanders. No, they got lucky. Let's be honest.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Again, that's how it is. Unlucky, lucky. They had the turning point of the game was a punt from their own end zone. Land McConkey receives this said punt, takes it back 50 yards for a touchdown. Unfortunately for him is the end, whoever it was, tried to block the punt, hit the guy's plant leg, which I think is 15-yard penalty. Yeah. Gives them a first down in Washington. and like we say it's just all momentum rhythm like Daniels was in a rhythm for for the like you said first 20 minutes I think he was three of seven for like seven yards yeah like
Starting point is 00:17:27 something insanely like that and you saw once you push the ball down field got rid of the nerves which is that's what makes him special is putting the ball down field and using his legs legs weren't really there for him right the brace you saw it hampered him a little bit so yeah I'm with you for a couple minutes there it's like why did we not just take Denver why didn't we not just take the saints we've taken a quarterback who hasn't played in two weeks with a giant knee brace that's down 10 nothing but like we talk about all the time the chargers it's the injury bug like it hits teams and it just keeps hitting them throughout the game they just kept dropping guys it's crazy like how bad their luck is and you know by the third quarter they're already down
Starting point is 00:18:13 three more defensive players and their guard. So it's like, you know, Herbert, he made plays. I feel like every time he did make one penalty by the backups that are in the game. And everything right for the commanders, we talked this week, you know, like you said, as Simon says, my whole view of it was these are the type of games you take positions on because they're a long-term winners. Just like the Jets, people are going to shit on us. It's no different.
Starting point is 00:18:40 They're playing a number in a spot against a team that's overvalued. by public perception. You can see how it can go. We can easily have two Jets games today. Oh my God, totally. Especially at the two and a half. Yeah. So that's why like, you know, 2710.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Did the commanders really beat them that bad? No. But the public is going to react to this now. Totally be out on the Chargers team. And we'll see what's coming up this week. But yeah, this was a game. I'm so happy we covered. Obviously the fans too.
Starting point is 00:19:13 But, yeah. We were in the same boat, Chad. Taking out Denver, taking out the Saints. I loved them all. I didn't mind all three of them. You know, the only one I regret is I wasn't more confident of the Saints, but people don't understand. I've been betting this thing for seven days,
Starting point is 00:19:31 and it's Spencer Rattler. And like I said, you're bedding it while everyone else is in the world you talk to, in my little world is telling me they're betting as well. And it's like, oh, shit, is it really this easy? Right. What am I missing? So yeah, that was one we definitely overthought in the morning. But yeah, I'm just really happy they both came through because I know how many people,
Starting point is 00:19:52 especially fans reached out and bet those, including Denver, which everyone bet as well. Yeah. So what was interesting about the commanders to me was, like you said, Jaden Daniels did not look right. They actually had a segment where they showed him changing his cleats. He was wearing a new set of cleats. And they changed the cleats before that drive after the fumble, which to me was the key play.
Starting point is 00:20:14 I want to dive into that a little bit deeper later in the show. But after that fumble. Conspiracy chat, I love this. After that fumble, you know, they're down 10-0. And Jaden Daniels on the first three plays of that drive, he gets sacked, there's an incompletion and a holding penalty. So it's third and 16. And all of a sudden, he just like, he throws a dart down the middle of the field.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Right up the seam. Right up the seam. was like the exact throw you need to get yourself in rhythm, right? And they talked about it. Like even on the broadcast, I forgot who the announcers were, but on the broadcast, they talked about how you just need to see one go in, right? And Jaden Daniels had talked about just needing to see one go in. I think he saw that one go in.
Starting point is 00:21:00 And after that, it was like again and again and again. They drove down the field for the touchdown. Then they get the recover. They get the bounce back. After the penalty, he throws that beautiful ball to Luke McCaffrey, and then another one to Debo Samuel. They get the field goal. All of a sudden, it's tied.
Starting point is 00:21:21 I got to tell you. Like, this Jacori, Clusky, Krosky Merrick guy, him and Jaden Daniels, what was interesting to me is it looks like someone is right about to tackle them. It's like out of a cartoon. Someone is about to grab these guys, and all of a sudden they're gone. Like they're just grasping at air. And both of them on that opening drive of the second half where he had like 44 yards and a touchdown on the opening the drive, Jekori did, they just look so fast. It's amazing to me.
Starting point is 00:21:56 And that next series was the one for the Chargers where Trey Pipkins, the right tackle, who had gone out, came back in. Justin Herbert makes two great throws to McConkey and the Keene and Allen both get called back because of penalties on Tray Pickens. and that that was it like even with the penalty even with the fumble by kroski merit in the in the in the fourth quarter um you didn't get the feeling like the chargers had enough gas to get back in the game no everything was going wrong like you said just herbert kept making plays and there was stupid penalties and then you know even on his pick it was really stupid but it's just once again bad luck pressure that probably wouldn't be facing if he had some bodies but But even watching Washington, the fear for me in this game was they, their corners are some of the slowest in football.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Like if you dive in the numbers, they grid out as incredibly slow in coverage. And you saw that. Like, yeah. There's multiple times that even Keating Allen's streaking just wide open, breaking off his routes where, you know, they had their opportunities. But we try not to read too much into it. Trust the number. Trust the spot. And yeah, this was a really, really, like you said, ugly game.
Starting point is 00:23:08 start but people saw why we want to take it just the the chargers are not the same team they were three weeks ago it's just a a battered team just trying to survive right now well look you saw some at some point in the second quarter the rush just started getting to dust and herbert like they were five times yeah they were in his grill constantly it's like they started bringing extra pressure they knew were to bring the pressure the chargers just had no chance you feel bad because we've seen this game many many times for the Chargers. Okay. Two and two. I think the best we would have been today right now would be three and two. Because I don't think either of us were going to talk ourselves out of betting the New York Jets at plus two and a half. It was our brass balls. Either
Starting point is 00:23:57 way we were betting it. It's just a question of when we have replaced the Jags or with one of these games. If we hadn't replaced the commanders and the Broncos, like, somehow we were going to end up with two losses today. So I know we can say we were going to be four and one, but I think we really were going to be either three and two right now or two and two. Agree or disagree. Yeah. No, it would have been three and two. The reason I'm, not that I made you put the Jags in, it's like, you know, my view of it was that was your baby. Like if you had, say you had loved Denver and you were pounding the table for him, obviously I'd have been like, okay, we'll go Denver, but you didn't have that this week.
Starting point is 00:24:37 The only real team was the Jags. So I still like it. The only thing I'm worried about now is like literally all my early reads came through today. Like I think I went 11 and 2 my personal bets against the spread. And obviously I'm with you on the Jags. I hope it's going to come through. My initial read was the Chiefs. So I'm on it.
Starting point is 00:24:58 I believe in the Jags. Believe in the number. I still think we got a good number. It lands right on three. So I'm still confident we go three and two. Well, let's be confident together. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new?
Starting point is 00:25:11 Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:25:31 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:26:38 The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen she went down at three to Rovachina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We left out Denver. Denver closed at four and a number.
Starting point is 00:28:01 We got it. I think we got a little nervous about it today because it got down to three and a half and then got that back up to four and a half and so to me that was sort of Not believing in bo necks being a little bit nervous about the late money coming in not thinking it was just public money At least that's the indication I got and so I got both just about no next thing. Yeah, it was love the spot love the number We've been talking about fading this Eagles team that just something's not right with them offensively. They're a lower value in the market and And, yeah, another game where I think they, like you said, double digit, they're 17 to three. Yeah. Come back. In the fourth quarter.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah. In their history, in their history, by the way. I think there was a stat that Denver Broncos in their history went down four touchdown, two touchdowns to start the fourth quarter. One and 121. Yeah, so it was a wonky day. I know. It's just a wild day. And that's why, like, again, wish we were three and two, sitting here two and two.
Starting point is 00:28:59 I'm still happy with that. Just keep surviving. By the way, I don't want to gloss over this one thing with the Jets. Guess who is 0.24 when playing a team that scores 21 points or more? Justin Fields. Justin Fields. We had talked, I felt like this was the Eagles game where everything that had been going their way and masking all of the issues they've had finally sort of came to roost
Starting point is 00:29:26 against a Broncos defense that really kept this team in the game, the entire game, right? Because like starting the second half with a wheel route touchdown to Saquan, it looked like the Eagles were just going to start rolling because they had played okay in the first half. But all of the luck that had gone their way completely evaporated. And that was especially true in the very end. I thought in the second half they went five plays after the touchdown five plays 23 yards punt three plays minus 11 yards punt three plays minus six yards punt three plays two yards punt Peyton put bo necks in fantastic positions like easy throws not risky throws mostly short throws long drives six plays, 72 yards, 11 plays, 50 yards.
Starting point is 00:30:28 They kind of dinked and dunked, but it helped that the Eagles kept committing penalties. And the luck definitely caught up to the Broncos. The Eagles had a great call to complete a long pass downfield to Devante Smith. Called back for a legal shift. 15 total yards of offense in the fourth quarter. A clear intentional grounding that wasn't called on Bo Nix to keep a drive alive like it all went bad for the Eagles in that fourth quarter yeah no it was a bad game
Starting point is 00:31:00 painful to watch too as an Eagles fan but something is just not right with a same one I think he had six carries for 30 yards and it's like yes there's no excuse if you're up 17 to 3 heading to the fourth quarter and he only has six carries so yeah injuries to the offensive line and you know thought her it's actually played pretty well obviously disappeared in the second half, but like you just read the stats. Like they just were not in sync. Couldn't get into rhythm and they had dumb penalty. Eagles, media will probably be worried as a fan.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Don't care. It's October 5th. Okay. They lost the Denver. It was December 15th and our offense is still putting up a pedestrian 17 points at home against that Denver defense, which they were passing the ball at will against them to start the game. There'll be major issues. but I think, you know, the O.C. If this continues, he'll be fired. It's a guy that has no, he's got nothing to back him.
Starting point is 00:31:58 He's a friend of that coach that took a stand, gave him a good job. And, you know, again, it's not working right now, but I still think it's too early. So it sucks to lose that game. But honestly, I'm more excited about my Cowboys' Divisional Bet, which was dead and now has just a hint of life. Because the Eagles, they could have some serious,
Starting point is 00:32:20 problems going forward where Dallas, they have an easier schedule. They can win some of these ugly games like they have. So I would say as an Eagles fan is probably the only really worry right now. But overall, I think, you know, once they get Saquan right, that offensive line right, they'll be fine come late December. Yeah, it's, look, the Eagles heading into the day were 20 and 1 in their past 21 games, including the playoffs. They are a team that will figure it out. They've got all the pieces, there's clearly something not clicking right now with the offense, and it caught up to him today. And now they can sort of, they have to walk away, they have to be intellectually honest about what's been happening, and they can't sort of rely on, oh, we just fix this, we just fix that.
Starting point is 00:33:01 They're not doing well. The luck ran out. Now they need to figure out, okay, how can we actually get back to executing, getting Sequin in the game, being offensively minded, not offensive. Do you like that? I'm just trying to make you smile. I can sense how down you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I appreciate it. Well, not the first time I heard that. Listen, Miami, Carolina, we won that one. Rico Dowdow, 206 yards, 170 yards on the right side. No kidding. So Miami just cratered. They stopped scoring for basically two and a half quarters. And then they gave Bryce Young a chance to Bryce Young and come back and win this game.
Starting point is 00:33:46 and it was glorious. It was everything that's great about Bryce Young and why we love betting him when we actually decide to bet him in the exact right spot, which we're only doing in prudent and thoughtful ways when we're betting the Carolina Panthers. Yeah, and I was cursing his name.
Starting point is 00:34:00 I won't lie when it's 17-0. It's like, I should have known, should have known not to back Bryce here. But yeah, like you said, he definitely came back and made the throes, but this was a Miami loss. Totally. Totally.
Starting point is 00:34:16 Waller, I don't get it. Like, this guy comes back. He looks like an all-pro tight end. He's getting whatever he wants. That's why they're up 17-0-0, and they just go away from him. Very bizarre game plan in the second half by Miami. And, yeah, Panthers won this game by Miami.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Like most of these teams, like the Eagles, too. Like, these teams lose these games. Like, so Miami, tough, tough loss. But, you know, they know the deal. They're a bad team. Like, they just, their second. There was a point there where they're saying these guys names and they're secondary. And it's like, I've never heard of these guys, which is just brutal because it's like, I didn't even hear of them coming out of college.
Starting point is 00:34:55 So, yeah, you know, Miami, not that they needed this win, but it felt like their coach did where it's like if he can string together a couple wins, maybe his job will be a little safe because they do have an easy schedule. But you look at it go, well, they're easy schedule. They're part of that easy schedule for other teams. They're just a bad team. So, yeah, another game that we should have been more confident on, but it was never going to be one of my five favorite bets this week. Well, not when we had the New Orleans Saints minus one and a half staring us in the face and the line jumped to two and a half before kickoff.
Starting point is 00:35:30 So we were still getting a good number. As you said, we were leaking confidence. I was leaking confidence because it's Spencer Rattler and it's the Saints as a favorite. even though from the beginning, a week ago this time, I'm like, why are we not going to bet the Saints as underdogs? And then they became short favorites when Jackson Dart has played one game. And look, Jackson Dart proved to be a rookie. Like they got up 14-0. And then the Saints, like, they kept fighting. They kept fighting. Jackson-Dark looked really good for about 15 minutes of this game, maybe 20 minutes of this game.
Starting point is 00:36:15 And then all of a sudden, like, the Saints did what they've been doing all year. They just kept themselves quietly in the game. And then they just freaking dominated and truly turned Jackson Dart into a pumpkin again. Yeah, I thought, like you said, Jackson Dart actually didn't play terribly. Like, there's, if you're a Giants fan,
Starting point is 00:36:34 I still think there's things to be excited about with this team, but you saw that, you know, he's going to make those really, really stupid mistakes. like that that fumble yeah that fumble it just totally shifted that game and it was so inexcusable um but another game that you know i think they were down 14 to 3 or 14 6 and spencerreller like we talked i couldn't believe it when i dove into the numbers and like saw that he was a lot of websites had him great as like the 18th the 17th bet quarterback in football which again i know that's not crazy high but the NFL is so hard right now it's not 37th
Starting point is 00:37:12 Right. It's like I couldn't believe that. It's like, oh my God, Kellamore is making this work. I saw that there's a little, a little bit underrated potential on the Saints team, but didn't see that coming. They, they, they blew them out in the second half, really dominated them. And yeah, 26, 14, I think was the final score. So another game when it finished, relief, happy it hit. But like you, I was like, damn, probably should have stuck to it had in the contest. That was. was a stressful game, but also a unique spot, no-brainer type of bet where, like we said, they looked like they were more desperate and they looked like they had a quarterback that's taken, you know, what was that as 10th start? So again, I didn't want any of the previous 10th, finally won this one. And yeah, now we can go back to the Saints being big dogs and get them at a good number. So look, Jackson Dart, the first couple series, 9 of 12 or 75 yards, two touchdowns, Saints are down 14 to 6. The rest of the game, he had 125 yards and two picks.
Starting point is 00:38:20 And that included when they were down and having to throw the ball and a sort of runaway win that started with Jackson Dart, basically just the ball slipping out of his hand on a fumble to start the second half. And that's when they all started to look like rookies, right? as excited as everybody is about Cam Scataboo and Jackson Dart, they're missing Malik neighbors. They don't really have, they don't have offensive weapons. You can't put literally the game in the hands of two rookies and expect to come out and not lose leads.
Starting point is 00:38:59 They both fumbled. And they both led to mistakes that were killers in terms of the final score and putting the Saints over the top and give them the win. good for Spencer Rattler, including his 87-yard touchdown pass. So really great. Just loved it. That one, like, even though we didn't have it in, I was just glad because I know how much you bet it. I know how much I bet it. So loved it.
Starting point is 00:39:24 Totally loved it. Like Spencer or Baker, like two QBs today, that really showed up in a big way. For me, betting-wise, and I'm sure their fan base was the same way of, like, they probably shouldn't have won. the way they did and both teams. Yeah, had incredible quarterback playing. And Spencer made some big time throws. So, yeah, like, that's got to feel pretty good that you know this kid keeps
Starting point is 00:39:48 approving. Again, because he hears the noise. They're tanking for whatever it was, Arch Manning week once. Like, I think how stupid that sounds now looking back. I know, right? It's a unique spot now for the Saints. Can they build momentum here or it was just a one-off fluke? So, yeah, I'm excited to see what they end up being.
Starting point is 00:40:07 for the next couple weeks. All right. By the way, that box, great call by you on the box. Great game. Yeah, that was a fun game. Ameca, Buka, and Jackson, Smith, and Jigba. That was anything you can do, I can do better. Like, they were just going up and down the field, up and down the field.
Starting point is 00:40:23 They must, like, good for them. Good for Ohio State receivers. That was high quality play. Poor Sam Darnold, before that interception, 27 to 32 for 3.20-something and 4 touch-toucher. sounds like he was almost perfect, only to be bakered. He got bakered. And it was a phenomenal game. All-time game.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Oh, man. All right. Let's hear from Hard Rock. Then we're going to come back. We got some goats. We got some heroes. We're going to get to the liens in your comments. All that stuff.

Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:42:47 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:43:12 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
Starting point is 00:43:44 funnier. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen Chinchin win.
Starting point is 00:44:22 I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lernerabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now and I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:44:46 Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, Simon, I know who you're, shame on you is. Before we get to yours, I'm going to name a couple and then I'm going to give you my ultimate answer, okay? Before we get to yours. One, I was going to give it to Terry and Arnold, Detroit Lions cornerback, who every week has some pass interference or defensive holding call.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Only today, it happened to come on a play where Jake Browning had gotten sacked in the end zone by Aiden Hutchinson, and it would have been a safety, he got bailed out by the fact Jake Browning two plays later through a touchdown, or through interception. So he does not get to be shamed, shamed, shamed. Shamed. I was going to give it to Cliff Kingsbury
Starting point is 00:46:19 because when the commanders were buried in their own half of the field just outside their end zone at the end of the first half, instead of running the ball, when the charges were clearly not calling their timeouts, He decided to throw the ball, which led to the punt from the back of the end zone that was returned by Ladd McConkey. Only they got lucky because of the roughing the punter. And then Jane Daniels bailed everybody out with these brilliant throws to Luke McCaffrey and Debo Samuel. Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:46:49 Are you ready for my absolute shame, shame, shame of the week? What are the rules here? I feel like you've just given out six shames. No, no. These were what could have been, but they were bailed out. I'm giving you a shame that was not bailed out. The Jets' entire defense, you alluded to it earlier, okay, in the sort of sandwich touchdowns between the Jets' ineptitude on offense.
Starting point is 00:47:25 This is what it would look like for the Jets. With 41 seconds left in the half, the Jets gave up a 68-yard draw to DeVante. Williams. The Cowboys scored a play later. Combine that with the drive just prior for the Cowboys, which started with two minutes left from their own 10-yard line. They got down the field in 63 seconds and scored a touchdown. The 14 points the Cowboys scored on the woeful jets, they're not even trying defense in one minute, 35 seconds, and they gained 143 yards. That was, there was no coaching, there was no trying, there was no fire, there was no strategy, there was no effort, there was no thinking, there was no, there was no consequences, there was no understanding of what they
Starting point is 00:48:25 were facing, there was just quit, plain old quit by the New York Jets. That shame, shame. Yeah, I'll say it's hard for me to know where you're going to go with this. I'll just be quick. Arizona. Shame. Get them out of my country. They let them become the I don't even know. Should we send them to Mexico. Should be Mexico City Cardinals. Just get them out of America. They no longer they shouldn't be here. I just can't get over how bad that game wasn't. Then I feel fishing and I feel officiating in that game. Shame just the whole thing. It's shame, shame, shame.
Starting point is 00:49:07 No, I get it. I feel for you, brother. I do. I know you can barely pontificate on this one. I'm going to give you a chance to find some joy in the week, because I do have a hero. Someone who pulled victory for us from the jaws of defeat, someone who made it so we could be two and two
Starting point is 00:49:29 with the hand-wringing and consternation that we have when we go into these weeks. I thought about Rico Dowdell, gained 206 yards. I thought about Spencer Radler, who got his first ever win. But I'm going with Kwan Martin. Do you know who that is? Have you ever hit the Kwan? Well, Kwan hit the Kwan today
Starting point is 00:49:53 because the Washington Commander's safety forced Quentin Johnston's fumble in Commander's territory that there was no doubt the Chargers were going to go up, 17-0-0 in that game. And then it was basically a dead bet. And then we're basically 1-3 on the day. And instead of having like every game that we won, you mentioned, you know, you're 11 and 2 on your sides for the day. I think I'm like 6-1 on my sides for the day.
Starting point is 00:50:24 The only game I lost, the New York Jets. And it would have been much, much uglier if Kwan Martin hadn't forced that fumble. to get the commanders back on the road to victory. Yay, Kwan. My hero of the day will be my mother. Today's her birthday. Come on! Love you, Mom.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Shout out to all the moms. Oh, that's beautiful. That's nice of you. I'm sorry. I wish I was never born. I'm glad your mom doesn't listen to the podcast. I know your dad listens to the podcast because your dad is a faith.
Starting point is 00:51:09 and devote a re-tweeter every single time. I put out a link and I'm hoping your mom, you know, I know she doesn't feel that way about you at all. All right, before we get to some, let's do some comments really quickly. Because we do have some people basically feeling the same way as you. Bigness wants to know. Should we make the Cardinals stay in the field
Starting point is 00:51:35 so everyone can throw trash at them them until they get too tired to continue. No, it's too nice. You gotta get, we should get a herb out there. Make them skate from blue line to blue line. And they keep asking them what team they play for. Those sons of bitches. Bring in the ice.
Starting point is 00:51:52 Sick of them. Everybody on that line. Somebody's going to get hurt. Again. I've actually never seen you react like this. You're always like, it's just betting. It's just football. Try to be a professional.
Starting point is 00:52:05 Remember this, it wasn't even like 12 hours. ago when you were like dude you're so immature called you an amateur but you were being immature as well i'm glad you agree oh amateur yeah well i thought it was immature it was the philly in you here's a question from donald what i think is important we talk a lot about late money why do we care so much about late money well mr president it's a big deal all right don it's the the late money to me scares me it's good in some ways but in a lot of ways it scares me because it's the dopey public play the pros almost all my work is done by 5 a.m. i mean i'm still doing stupid shit and betting on info because i can't help myself on a degenerate but that money today that came in that late on the
Starting point is 00:52:58 jets that's people following the wave and the bookmakers having to move that line to adjust to it because you know, Schefter puts out a tweet or whoever it was of all these guys that are out, they have to protect themselves against it
Starting point is 00:53:13 because that's some real money coming in. Some legit pros might come in and they might like that side but yeah, for me, the most interesting part of the lines that don't move
Starting point is 00:53:23 like that commander's line sitting at two and a half all week at two of the most public books in America. That's pretty telling, usually. So that stuff's more what I'm looking for.
Starting point is 00:53:35 When I see the pros, or the books are holding on a line. And, you know, like I always say, certain books will move a half a point on a $10,000 bet from respected better, and they won't budge on $10 million from the public. So that stuff really does matter. So I hope people, no, we're just not talking out of our asses.
Starting point is 00:53:57 There's a lot of stuff you know and you hear and you see going on that dictates where that money's going and why it's moving the numbers the way it is. All right. Let's talk about some early liens for next week. I know you're sick to your stomach. You probably don't even want to think about having to bed a single game. I'm looking right now.
Starting point is 00:54:13 It all looks horrible to you. I'm just like, all I see is pain. I know. You're so good. Canons keep going? I mean, that's what sucks. It's like we had a great week. We're freaking two and two.
Starting point is 00:54:22 It's ridiculous. Well, listen, we got the Jags tomorrow night. And so who's ever felt bad betting the Jags at plus three and a half at home? Gage is saying shouldn't Seattle plus one be a must bet next week? They're actually at the Jags, one point underdogs, some places one and a half at the Jack, Seattle. Any thoughts on that yet? Agree. Is it terrible of me to say, oh my God, look, the Cleveland Browns are four and a half point underdogs on the road at the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Starting point is 00:54:54 And if there's ever been a time you want to fade the Pittsburgh Steelers, it's when they are favorites at home in the division against the Cleveland Browns. Interesting line. It's it's plus five right now to Hard Rock and I agree. I can't believe it's that inflated. Maybe it's the I'm sure I don't have some amazing trends. Maybe it's the whole no rest traveling back from England could play a game on the road against a team that's coming off a biweek. There must be some because that why is that not three and a half? Like it should be three like yeah exactly based on everything right. Yeah. It should be a three. It should be three. So I agree with that early read. I'll grab the plus five, but there's definitely something fishy going on with that game. How big is too big for the Cincinnati Bengals? They are 14 and a half point underdogs on the road against the rested Green Bay Packers. In another life, that was going to be the survivor pick, Green Bay. I know. I don't know, Chad.
Starting point is 00:55:57 You're the one that keeps believing in this guy, what's his name, Browning? Jack Browning. I kind of lost my first. today. Too many times, too many times he was throwing too many bad passes from the back of the end zone. I know like it's his team. It took you four weeks to figure that out. It's his team putting them in a bad spot. But geez, Louise, like Jamar Chase is getting frustrated. I know he made a great catch today from the touchdown. And they tried. They tried to make it close. But this team is this team. And so to me, it's sort of a pass. They're becoming the Tennessee Titans for me. It's hard to bet against them.
Starting point is 00:56:32 but I don't think I could bet on no matter what the number is. And I know, I mean, I know. If I'm bent against the trend that's 20 and 1, which is exactly what I did, been against the Bengals today, you know it's a train wreck right now for them.
Starting point is 00:56:49 Yeah. Because it's like they were in the spot of spots and still didn't matter. They're just absolutely terrible in every facet of the game right now. Listen, the Arizona Cardinals are plus five and a half at Indianapolis next week. we know Kyler's great when he's on the road too soon yeah i mean that's this this line will be
Starting point is 00:57:09 taken down the Colts are lucky they have a buy week now because coronals won't exist so it doesn't matter what the line is um no that was that was the only other game i got a little pissed off at you about was the Colts how do we not how did we miss that one where it's like i love that game we were bet into it this feels like another cold spot the cold Colts are a good team and their biggest shit, and they push their weight around. And if you make mistakes like Kyler should, this is a bad spot.
Starting point is 00:57:41 So I think Kyler left for a minute because he had a foot injury. My early position, Hard Rock right now in Jersey's minus five on the Colts. Super public line. I'll take it because if he's out, if Murray is and it's Chicobe, I don't even remember who their backup was. I know he came in the game. It's bad.
Starting point is 00:58:00 Like that's a really bad spot. for as much should I want to give Kyler still a great athlete and he could give problems to the Colts Jacobi Berset cannot give those problems that guy's a statue so yeah this is an interesting number I'm going to take the early nine with the public on the Colts minus five all right so Colts is one we're looking at Cleveland is one we're looking at Cleveland plus four and a half on the road at Pittsburgh Seattle is interesting we don't know enough yet about Jacksonville um the trappiest line right now there's two seemingly traffic lines. Which ones?
Starting point is 00:58:33 Tampa is minus three right now at home against the 49ers. What is that number? What are we doing here? Why are we not putting our life savings on Baker and the bucks at home minus three? Like lightning striking twice for Mac Jones.
Starting point is 00:58:51 He's going to go on the road and beat... Well, do we know that Brock Purdy isn't playing next week? I'd be shocked. That's what that line says to me. Is that weird that they think Brock Purdy is going to be... Yeah. That's a weird number to open that.
Starting point is 00:59:03 and chiefs Detroit, it's opened right now, hard rock minus one of the chiefs. That will be the biggest public dog of the year, not even close to any other side. Detroit. Detroit. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:19 To me. People are gonna have them power because the number one team of football right now. That's sports media cannot wait to dethrone the Eagles and put the lions up at number one and just say, week one was a fluke. They've dominated three straight weeks. So yeah, that's a, that's a,
Starting point is 00:59:33 That's a game I'm circling right now where it's like, I want to bet Detroit as a dog right now just in case the chiefs do lose. Like we think there's a possibility they can lose tomorrow night. Why not take Detroit? Chiefs lose. We get Chiefs plus two and a half. Maybe we can find the middle, but I'd rather be on the Chiefs of the dog than I'm opening the Chiefs right now.
Starting point is 00:59:53 I wouldn't bet Chiefs as a favorite right now. I was going to say, I'm just going to wait and see what happens because I'd rather have the chance just to bet the Chiefs. I don't know. I certainly can bet the West. by 20 tomorrow. There's no chance this gets up to the two. There's no where the chiefs are minus two.
Starting point is 01:00:08 If they are, if the chiefs are minus two and a half, good for us. Yeah, guarantee they're in our contest next week. Right. So I just came to the chiefs moving more of a favorite. I think this is a dog line for Detroit to bet right now. All right.
Starting point is 01:00:23 So we're going to dig in a little bit more deeper on Tuesday. Quickly review. Simon says was Ravens plus three and a half. and commanders plus two and a half. We did two this week because the line had moved so much on the Ravens. Chad loves the Jags plus three and a half. Brass balls, Jets plus two and a half lost that one. Rock and a hard place.
Starting point is 01:00:45 We had the Broncos and the Eagles. We liked the Broncos. It was a tough call. Sharp versus Square, this isn't going to cheer you up, but you had the Saints and I had the Jets. Our favorite parlay, meaning betting on the parlay on the faves. We had the Cardinals, no. Bills, we don't know yet.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Lions, yes. Seahawks, no, Colts, yes. So not a lot of winners out of that one. Underdog Parlay, Panthers, yes. Jets, no. Commanders, yes. Jags, don't know. Browns.
Starting point is 01:01:21 So got one more shot with the Jags to pair of a couple of winners. Survivor was the Arizona Cardinals. We are dead. final review we had the rams on thursday night lost it we had the jets today lost we won with the texans we won with the commanders we've got the jags plus three and a half remaining tomorrow night this has been sharp or square presented by hard rock bed we are part of the volume podcast network we will be back with our next sharper square on tuesday to go over the entire nfl slate watch or listen on YouTube at Sharper Square.
