Starting point is 00:00:00 The volume. What up y'all? T-Bob here from Snaps, presented by Fandul, your new favorite college football podcast. But I'm here to talk NFL because it is playoff time and there's no better place to get in on the action than Fandul. Trust me, I would know. I've been handing out losing bets all year long on Fandul. And what I've learned is, look, the app is safe, secure, it's easy to use. They have a ton of great offers, boost, and more all month long.
Starting point is 00:00:30 When you do win, you get paid fast. And the best part is you can really play however you want to play. And I mean that quite literally. If you love futures, those are there for you. If you love the parlay multiple games, that's there for you. If you like same game parlays, because you just want to watch one primetime game with a lot of action, a lot of juice, spread, money line over, unders, totals, player props, everything live bed. And you get to the game late.
Starting point is 00:00:53 And you want to, it's all there for you on the Fandual Sportsbook app. So try out the same game Parlay Plus while you're there and download Fandul now, which is now live in Ohio. That's right. If you are signed up the first time, use the promo code snaps for great deals. And what are you waiting for?
Starting point is 00:01:11 Download the Fanduil app today to start making every moment more. Hey, what's up, everyone? Welcome into a brand new edition of snaps. Once again, we are not live, but we are getting it done here. Aaron Murray is back stateside from the Bahamas. He's looking tanned.
Starting point is 00:01:35 He's looking rested. He left up in the casino. Life is great. great. I'm one of your host, Tebow, baby, joined again by Aaron Murray. Aaron, what's up, man? How are we feeling, dude? I feel good. It was a great vacation. Nice little reset.
Starting point is 00:01:50 And it was good to get back to the kiddos last night. Good to not have technical difficulties doing our show either, which is just as important as getting big hugs and kisses from the two little ones. So yeah, man, happy to be back. It was fun. My wife, I said that. That's a hell of a statement. Snaps is our baby, though, Teabobob.
Starting point is 00:02:09 this is our little baby. We have to take care of it and rock it and treat her right and a crappy connection on on YouTube on the fault of my hotel is not good. So yes, it is good to be back in the studio. Yeah. Having some fun with you. Yeah. Basically, it's like as it was as painful having to deal with that as if like our kid had to go to the hospital or something. So I agree. It's stressful. Like I just had my son a couple months ago, right? My third child, I mean, third child. It's old hat at this point. Okay. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:02:41 hey, how about you learn to fucking read or something? Okay, look at you. You're just sitting here, drooling everywhere. Like, I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:02:49 I care about snaps way more than I do my third child. 100%. And if you care about snaps, you should rate it and review it. Okay? You should do that because that helps grow the show.
Starting point is 00:02:59 You should like on YouTube, which I guess I've already screwed up the algorithm by cursing in the first five minutes. Maybe we bleep that out. Just bleep it out because we're recorded. We can do that. And then also,
Starting point is 00:03:09 you know, download the Fandall Sportsbook app and use the promo code snaps. Because it's my birthday, okay? I'm 34. Unfortunately, Jesus year comes to an end. But if you want to wish me a truly happy birthday or give me a present rating review in the pod would be that present. As far as what I want for my birthday, hmm, I can already see it. What I want? What's today's date?
Starting point is 00:03:34 Are we in February? Yeah, we're in February, right? What I want your birthday is? Oh, yeah, I guess that's okay. You probably know what month your birthday is. Yeah. February night. Yes,
Starting point is 00:03:45 any of February night. That's correct. Okay. So what I want is in about nearly exactly 10 months from now. What I want more than anything is for LSU to beat UGA's ass in Atlanta in the SEC championship. Get revenge. This time I won't have a stupid little third child blocking me from being able to go to the game. That's what I want.
Starting point is 00:04:07 And I don't think it's too much of an ass. Okay. So get it done, Brian Kelly. We, Georgia and the impending, we need to stop the three Pete, stop the impending Georgia dynasty. It's time for LSU to reign was supreme once again. We hope, we hope you're not welcoming in a four child. This is why you and I both need to get it together. I got it on it.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Go get snippy, snippy, snippy, snippy, snippy. Dude, I had so many people hit me up like my, my husband or my dad or my brother, can make that happen for you and for good deal. I'm like, I just need to happen. You know, playing a little bit close, too close to the fire at the moment.
Starting point is 00:04:46 See, Bob, a little bit stress at the moment. So I don't like doing that. I really don't want more than two. I really don't want more than two. So I'm saying, I had sex for probably like the first time in like two or three months,
Starting point is 00:05:01 finally the other night. And, you know, I was a pullout. champ for years. So I think I was safe, but I'm not, yesterday, my wife's like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm like, I'm like, what? No, no, no, no, no. It can be. So, so I don't know, man. I, I, too, I'm going through a scare. Um, me and my wife have been together since high school, right? So,
Starting point is 00:05:22 like, we, we, we really know each other. I've never really, I'm 34 years old today. I've never really had to have sex with condoms. And I think I'm about to start having sex of condoms until, until I get snipped. Is it awful? Is it awful? Let's just go get snipped. Let's just go get snipped. I know I want to. I want to, but it's like busy. There's like stuff going on. I know.
Starting point is 00:05:42 I need to find a good weekend to do it. Brum, I'm sorry that this is the direction that the show has ended up going. You know what I really want for my birthday, Aaron? I want you to buy Hogwarts Legacy tonight and play it. Okay. I want you to create your character.
Starting point is 00:05:58 And I want to see what you're in Sharon's initial reactions are. It's a very fun couple game. Me and my wife have actually. been enjoying playing for like 30 minutes to an hour at night kind of curling up on the couch and you know playing together the only issue with tonight is for those who enjoy Netflix a new season of you comes out tonight so we'll be binging the absolute crap out of the new season of you which a little bit sad they're doing it in two parts i think the first part comes out tonight second part comes out next month so we're going to binge through this one then have to wait another
Starting point is 00:06:34 month before the second part comes out, unfortunately. But what a fascinating success story you is, right? I think originally made on like the W.E. or the oxygen channel completely died. Yes, completely died. I don't know if it was one of those channels. It was a cable show. Completely died on traditional television, gets to Netflix, becomes a phenomena. And now like Dan from Gossip Girls super famous again and super successful again. And probably everybody in that show is, is making massive money now again um it's that that is one of those shows where my wife will have it on and it's fun to listen to as i do something else right maybe i need to do a little work maybe want to pay some miniatures like that's good background noise i am not giving you my full
Starting point is 00:07:23 attention though that is that's entirely too much good what's like for those i don't know if i this is why i wish i wish i wish yeah i don't know how they're going on with this thing uh this is when I do wish we had a little Twitter poll, not Twitter poll, but pull up to see who would watch you or not. Before we get into the rankings, so I did finish a good show last night, which I feel like it's up your alley, Wednesday on Netflix. Okay, dude. So I was being a bit of a curmudgeon when it came to Wednesday. I'm like, right. I don't want to watch this. The hype is real. So really? Okay. It's good. Yeah. It's good. Oh, I was like what I would like a DW infused, like weird Adam's family cash grab, but y'all are like, I had a couple of Brodies tell me it's actually really good.
Starting point is 00:08:07 It's got kind of almost like Hogwartsy and vibes. And look, that's what I would say about Hogwarts legacy. Okay, I'm a couple hours in. It just got my wand on hogs me. It's awesome. But the reason why the game is good. Okay, look, I've read every Harry Potter multiple times. You know, I've seen all the movies a bunch.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Growing up, it was a huge deal to me. As an adult, I care about it significantly less. than I do. Lord of the Rings or Star Wars and stuff. But like I like I love Harry and all them, but I don't care really about Harry and all them. Like I don't want a game about Harry Potter. What I still love is the initial feelings that I got when I was a kid and I was reaping sorcerer stone and this regular little boy is whisked off to this magical castle where paintings move and and the chocolate frogs jump and and class involves making potions and doing stuff. spells like like that is what I still latch on to in my brain and that is the fantasy that I have
Starting point is 00:09:05 always had and in this legacy game it is the ultimate realization of that fantasy yeah I mean you are in Hogwarts you are being sorted into your house you are going to class it's it's it's it's just I can't believe it's not be r could not be better yeah I just I mean it's not it's not VR, a little bit disappointed in that one. I feel like that would be a hell of an experience. VR's in a weird spot where there was such a gold rush initially, and then the market never quite panned out, and there are very good. Like, if you're coming to VR now, there are years of fun stuff that you can play.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Like I told you about Waltz of the Wizard, a very fun game that will scratch that itch. But if I'm that game, there's so much art, it's such a big AAA open world game, like VR support or some VR side mode just has to be very low on the totem pole. Like there's so much other shows. it they have to get to make that game happen. And again, I just got to say, it gives you that Hogwarts fantasy, like the painting's moving walking around the castle.
Starting point is 00:10:07 There's so much art in every single nook and cranny. It's the first game. And I grew up and I played video games obsessively my entire life until I started having to until like the last couple of years, right? Or maybe the last year is probably the least I've ever played. This is the first time in months where all I can think about is like wanting to go home and get back on the sticks. And that is a good feeling and a feeling that I have really, really missed.
Starting point is 00:10:30 So I'm hyped on it, dude. I'm excited. I hope we can carry this throughout. We'll see. We'll see if it ends up getting tired. But initial returns are awesome. All right. On today's show, now that all the pleasantries are done, we are going to talk about,
Starting point is 00:10:45 what do we, wait, okay, what do we officially end up naming it? I don't want to, I don't want to use. Top 10 hottest seat rankings for coaches. Okay, okay. Top 10, coaches, hot seat, who is in trouble going into next year. Um, if you've been listening to these Thursday shows, we always do a top 10 list and how we do it is a snake draft. So the first person drafts who they think is most in the hot seat. Next person does two.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Next person does two. So and so forth. It is Aaron's turn to go first. Aaron Murray, but but who is your first pick and the top 10 coaches hot seat going in 2020. All right. So my top pick for this whole thing. And it, you know, it may makes me smile. little bit that this is happening right now somewhat. I know we have to be somewhat biased
Starting point is 00:11:33 for this whole thing. But Billy Napier there at Florida is my number one guy on the hot sea right now. I know it's only going to be heading into year two. But, but when you're six and seven year one at Florida, when your biggest rival wins their second straight national championship, when your other rival Florida State wins, well, they went 10, 11 games, look to be one of the favorites to win the ACC next year when you had the biggest blunder when it comes to NIL and recruiting with Rashada and the $13 million mystery and then him going to now Arizona State. When you lose two quarterbacks, one goes to the NFL draft, another one gets arrested, blown out in the bowl game.
Starting point is 00:12:15 It's not a good look. And then you look across the country, other coaches having success in year one. And you look at the east right now, Georgia is going to be Georgia. Tennessee is going to be a really good football team next year. Missouri will see, Kentucky will see, but at least they got a quarterback. Florida is going to be scratching to be a 500 team next year. They are.
Starting point is 00:12:35 They're not going to beat LSU. So year two, you just got brand new facilities. They just did brand new facilities a year ago. You have a bazillion coaches on staff. Expectations are you're in the state of Florida. You can get top recruits. That's why you were brought in. You were brought in because the narrative was,
Starting point is 00:12:53 Billy Napier will recruit his ass off. He'll get top guys in there. He'll develop them and he'll get them going. And because of NIL, because of the portal, that timeline is accelerated. Now you don't get three years to go out there and win. You have two years in order to win and prove to your fan base that you're the guy. And if you're not the guy, they're just going to move on and find the next guy of the following year. Look at Auburn and everything that happened there.
Starting point is 00:13:16 So I don't feel good about Billy Napier. I've said it a couple of times on the show the past couple of months. I think Florida will be looking for a brand new head coach come the end of next season. I think they're going to be six and six at best next year. So it's a bit interesting, Aaron, because the guy that I'm about to name has a lot of the same vibes and the exact same record as Billy Napier. And yet, it's somebody of Hughes you have defended at times this off season. So Billy Napier first off the board, second off the board, Brent Venables. Oklahoma. The guy that Aaron Murray is trying to tell you is going to win the big 12 next year.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Look, if you listen to the show, you can probably guess who my first two draft picks are going to be here, right? And Brent Vinnibals, obviously. I bitched about them constantly this off season. But the reason is, Aaron, like, I feel almost like I'm taking crazy pills as to why Brent Vinnables is getting some sort of benefit of the doubt or free pass. Like, is there a higher crime in all of college football last season than Oklahoma going six at seven? Oklahoma going six and seven. Like even Sark got crap for taking a seven. Like, I don't want to make this about Sark. This is about Brimvitables.
Starting point is 00:14:32 I cannot wrap my head around how people are so accepting of this. He didn't take over a bad situation. He took over the best situation of nearly any coach that I've ever seen in my entire life. The coach was not fired. The coach left for a better opportunity. And yes, he took Caleb Williams with him. But even after the transfer. they still had a top five roster talent-wise in the entire country.
Starting point is 00:14:58 So he took over a team with a top five roster that went in the years before he took over, 12-and-2, 12-and-2, 9 and 2, 11-and-2, 6 and 7. How is that not almost immediately fireable? The only reason why it's not is because it's absurd and you can't fire somebody after year one. But again, this is without a doubt the highest crime in all of college football that we saw this last season and everybody's just kind of like ho-hum about it. Just expecting him to write the ship. I would be terrified if I was an Oklahoma fan.
Starting point is 00:15:31 I'd be terrified. I was Brent Venable's family because you're going to have to move again. Okay, Brent Bennebill's definitely on the hot seat going to 2020. Do you have anything to say for your boy? I do think Oklahoma is going to take a massive step forward. I do. There's no way that a Brett Venables coach football team can be that bad back-to-back years on defense.
Starting point is 00:15:55 They just can't. And I don't need them to be, I don't need them to jump from shit to great. I just need them to get three or four points better on the defense side of the football because I do think the offense will be good. They're going to be one of the better offenses in that conference. Can the defense just close the gap? I mean, they had, of their losses last year, five of them were within one score. Two or three of them were within a field goal.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Like, okay, roll you on as you want. I mean, there, there were games where there are coin flip games. where they could have gone one way or the other. And I think the big difference is the defense. If the defense gets three points or four points better, all of a sudden you're talking about a team that can win eight, nine games. And if he gets to that, he's on the hot seat. If he can get to around eight or nine wins,
Starting point is 00:16:35 I think he will be fine and be given opportunity to go to your three. It still is not a great job. I give you that. It's not a great job. I'm just saying he's not going to get fired if they win eight football games. But why is he in all these one score games? Why is he in a one score game with West Virginia? Why is he in a one-score game with Texas Tech?
Starting point is 00:16:55 Why is he getting blown out by a bad Texas team? Like, it's just, it's shocking to me that he goes six and seven. He didn't have a starting quarterback in their backup. That was the biggest issue. His backup quarterback in Oklahoma was trash. That was the- Figure it out. You knew it.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Kansas State played like 18 different quarterbacks this year. So it's different than Billy Napier in the sense that Billy was a head coach. At least he had that experience. It was at a group of five team, but still he knew how to run a program. And he was great there. There's it's it's it's it's a completely different situation when you're getting the first go at running a program yourself. So if he go if was like if same thing as Billy Napier. If if he's six and six and six and brett.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Benven was a six and six. I think there is a hard conversation of we're Oklahoma. We've had top 10 recruiting classes. We've, we've been to the playoffs recently. There is no reason we should be 500 back to back season. So in your mind, I'm putting. eight, I think eight saves his job. I think below eight serious consideration for him being out and his way out. Yeah, absolutely. It shouldn't be serious consideration. It should be out and jail time.
Starting point is 00:18:01 You should legitimately be jailed if you can't win 10 games at Oklahoma. Now, next in my snake draft, again, you already know, guys, if you listen to snaps regularly. It's Mario Krista fraud. Okay. No one is going to fade Miami harder than me. And what do you know? We line up to do the show today, boys. What do you know? What happens? Another coaching exit down there at Miami. As Charlie Strong has announced that he is not going to be returning for 2023.
Starting point is 00:18:29 He was the Kane's co-defendant coordinator and linebacker coach. This is right after Kevin Steele leaves of his own volition. They change offensive coordinators as well. So right now they need both. Well, actually they hired Lance Gidre, which I'll get to that in a second. I actually like that hire. But Christa Fraud loses both coordinators, which means they also need a new quarterback coach. wide receiver coach and lineback coach.
Starting point is 00:18:50 And word on the street is there are potentially more staff changes coming. And like, is this not a classic sign of the ship sinking, right? When the rat start to scurry away. Like, this is the classic. We can't fire the head coach. He's got to fire everybody underneath him. And it almost always results in disaster. Now, there is one exception.
Starting point is 00:19:11 There's one exception. Harbaugh did this a couple years ago and actually paid huge dividends of a Michigan. So there is that potential there. But like when you look, Mario Cristobel's first staff is an abject disaster. I mean, it took one year and it completely fell apart. Now, this new defensive coordinator, Lance Guidry, I like him. Okay, Grindr, Blue Collar guy at Marshall this last year, hired by Tulane, and he was there for a month before just getting hired now by Miami.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Like, I think this is pretty good hire. Unfortunately, as happy as I am for Lance, he's probably going to be gone next year because Mario Cristobal is a fraud and we'll go 500 in an awful SEC ACC again and we'll get fired. I'm trying to look at them right now. Where are they when it comes to recruiting rankings? They're like top five or something, aren't they? I thought they were great.
Starting point is 00:20:02 Although they finished very well. Let's see. Are you in 2023 or 2022? Yeah, that was the problem. I was on 2024. I was like, I swear they could record. Yeah. Yeah, they're top 10.
Starting point is 00:20:16 They produced 24-7 good flaws. They finish number seven. Yeah. Yes. I'm like, I swear they are up there. Then for some reason, they just have not done a good job to start this year, but that's not a big deal at all. I know you hate him.
Starting point is 00:20:30 I know there's this huge disdain for Mario and you wanted to see him burn at the stake. And you'd be that you'd be the ringleader to make that thing happen. I don't think there's anyone who hates him as much as you in the media. So take that with a great insult for those listening right now. No, no, no, no, no, no. I have no emotion towards Mario. You do have emotion. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Yes, you do. But he gets a free pass. He keeps getting the benefit of the doubt when there is no empirical evidence to give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm just, I've got all the documents right here. I'm just pointing out the truth, okay? Okay. You may not want to see it.
Starting point is 00:21:09 You may not want to take your medicine, Aaron, but I'm going to give it to you. Okay, I'm going to give you the God's honest truth. The God's honest truth is he's a fraud until proven wrong. Like until I'm proven wrong, I'm right. And that's a great part about this stance. All right. I'm with you, man. I do want to end each coach.
Starting point is 00:21:26 I do want to end each coach with where, where in your opinion, the bottom line is. Oh, like where you get fired? Yeah. Cristobal, definitely, I mean, I think he has rope for whatever reason, because everybody just believes he's going to be the guy.
Starting point is 00:21:41 I mean, I'm with you. It's like for middles. He at least needs to get eight wins. Like seven and six maybe keeps him in his job. He gets like a bowl win in there. maybe but if it's if it's not bowl eligible and that ACC again get him the F out of there dude done done done all right oh we knew those two were coming all right so number four my second pick I'm going to go back to the SEC and I'm going to go Jimbo Fisher with
Starting point is 00:22:09 with my second pick I'm really torn on this one because of the money because if it wasn't for the money I think he'd already be gone but it's just it's hard to fathom paying someone 80 million dollars to go retire and then have to bring in a brand new coach and pay them probably around eight or nine million dollars to be your next head coach. So that's the only hang up. And that's the only reason why he still has a job right now. And I do appreciate, I do, I do appreciate the fact that he brought in a new OC that he was a big enough man to bring in Bobby Petrino, which I'm still very fascinated how that whole situation is going to work out with those two personalities. If he's really going to step back and let Petrino do his
Starting point is 00:22:46 thing day in and day out with the complete game plan. He's not going to have any input. He's not going to walk into the meetings. He's not going to be in the quarterback meetings. I'm going to seriously just be a CEO. And I hope he does. I hope for his sake, he just takes a step back and maybe then uses it as a scapegoat if they do shit the bed again next year.
Starting point is 00:23:03 But I got a lot of confidence. I mean, Connor Wegman looked pretty darn good last year at the end of the season. You know, the five-star quarterback. They got talent coming back. But the reason why we're doing this list is not to talk about the good. It's to talk about the bat. The reason why he's on this list is because he's not had the success that he should have with the money he's getting paid with the recruits that he has on campus. Silver lining is to expect those guys last year, that historic recruiting class to win football games as freshmen was unrealistic.
Starting point is 00:23:34 And a lot of them did leave. A lot of them did transfer, but he sells a bunch of four and five star guys that are still in the roster. Year two is when I want to see the progress. Can Jimbo turn that incredible recruiting class, but what's left of it into, really, really good SEC football players. And in SEC West next year that I don't think it's going to be that great. I think the SEC West was good this year.
Starting point is 00:23:55 I don't think it was phenomenal. The fact that Brian Kelly in year two at LSU is a favorite to win the SEC West tells you everything you need to know. It's to me, A&M has to be successful next year because they're going to be one of the more talented football teams. You're paying your coach $80 plus million
Starting point is 00:24:12 dollars remaining on his contract. It has to happen. I think this is the point where if you don't win eight games next year, I think they honestly would really consider paying him out and just moving on. I think it honestly would happen. I think that, okay, I think this. I think that absolutely Jim was on the hot seat. I mean, I'm trying to find the exact number.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Look at all the people that left A&M this all season. 28 people transferred out, three people transferred in to Texas. A&M. My only problem with giving Jimbo any sort of free pass from last year with like, nobody expected this great freshman class to win in year number one is that they've been stacking top five classes. Yes, last year's class was extraordinary and it was outside the norm and it was a record setting. But they've been in the top five. So they had a great base of talent with which to work with. Their scheme was awful. Aaron, you watch the tape. Jimbo's offensive philosophy was absolutely horrible stagnant um it was second now it now it looked like the stuff that we ran back when
Starting point is 00:25:24 i played just line up and play football that doesn't get it done nowadays the only thing that i will say is that unlike venables or um or christopraud you at least have recent success to pull from like 2020 is not that far away and you went nine and one here though it was a co i know i know that is fair that is fair and you know how i feel about the covid year it kind of all bets are off right liquid lead to. I feel you on that. But no, I mean, absolutely, Jimbo. Like, if they suck again, like they suck this year, he's getting fired.
Starting point is 00:25:57 They will eat that money as embarrassing as much. I think, I think you have to not obviously suck. But I do think that there needs to be a massive improvement on offense. I mean, to me, you alluded to all these great draft, or not draft classes, but you alluded to all these great recruiting classes that you've put together. You put a lot of your eggs in Haynes King's basket. And you're supposed to be this, this incredible quarterback guru. And 99% of people that watch the tape are like, really, you put all your eggs in Connor Wegman basket.
Starting point is 00:26:26 Like, not Conner Weigman, but Haynes King, excuse me, in the Haynes King's basket. Like, come on, we can all see that that horrific motion. Like, there's no way that kids going to be a good football player. Well, also, like Jimbo, though, Jimbo got exposed last year. We finally realized, like it was like something clicked in our collective consciousness woke up. And we realized he kind of sucks at coaching quarterbacks. As insane as that sound, he had such a high. hot run, but somewhere along the way he lost his touch with quarterbacks and he never got it back.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Kellan Mon was some minor resurgence, but yeah. Yeah, okay, there you go. I'm just saying, like, you are, right now, they were the number 13th ranked scoring offense in the SEC, just in front of Kentucky, but behind Vanderbilt. Like, you never, ever, ever want to be behind Vanderbilt in any category. in the FCC, especially when your coach is getting paid $10 million. Like, that's a problem. I mean, if those have not been to Vanderbilt, they don't got a lot of resources.
Starting point is 00:27:28 They don't got a lot of money like A&M. You better be scored more points than the condors. Hey, but check this out. You know who's not on the hot seat? Clerkly. Hell yeah, dude. Freaking baller. What was it?
Starting point is 00:27:38 Five and seven final record with the dub over Florida. It's one of the reasons why Billy Napier's on the hot seat to your point. All right. Who's your second picker? Oh, yeah. We're doing that like this. All right. My, I always forget the snake drafts.
Starting point is 00:27:52 I'm like, I'm like, okay, I get to take a quick break. Why T. Bob jumps in here. All right. My next guy on the hot seat, this pains me because I'm, I got Syracuse running through my veins. I got it in my blood. Big Ques guy over here, but Dino Babers, Syracuse. Golly, they, they want to start last year for the, the Q's. I mean, they come out, guns blazing.
Starting point is 00:28:18 They should have won that game versus Clemson. The frickin' refraps just completely crap the bed. I actually saw a really funny video today on some social media that was like the hype video for all NFL referees. And it was absolutely hilarious. I forgot where it was. But it was like referees throwing flags and getting in the players' faces and calm down the movies.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Like with some theme music, like you're watching like the night before a game. It's like the referees getting pumped to throw a bunch of freaking flags to the Super Bowl this weekend. But they got screwed in that game. And that kind of like, you know, their season went completely off the game. rails after that loss to clemson unfortunately if they won that game you i don't think we
Starting point is 00:28:53 would be talking about dno babers on the hot seat right now but um it has just not been a good run for for dno um like so then you you top off a bad end of the season with the acc's lowest recruiting class uh he's had a losing record in five of the past seven seasons uh he was already on the hot seat after last year. To me, this is desperation. This isn't, hey,
Starting point is 00:29:19 make a bowl game and you keep your job. It's you better win like eight, nine games and make a major statement that you're really, really, really, really talented football coach.
Starting point is 00:29:29 I mean, schematic-wise, he just, he got exposed, man. They shocked the ACCC with when he came in with what he was running. Teams caught up to it. They haven't had a great quarterback.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And now of a sudden, I think Syracuse, to me probably could have been higher up on this list. For coaches that I really do feel like are past the hot seat that are now on the... He may get fired middle of the season is where Dino's out.
Starting point is 00:29:55 He's beyond hot. He is still... Yeah, I mean, looking at the record, it's kind of insane. He's still living off of that 2018 year. So he was four and eight, four and eight his first two years. Then he randomly jumps to 10 and 3, six and two in the AC. They win the camping World Bowl.
Starting point is 00:30:10 But then five and seven, one and 10. Five and seven, seven and six. So yeah, the Babers experiment is probably about to end. Okay, Aaron, well, I will, I will similarly go to a school that maybe the, it's going to make Brum cringe because I don't know the general public will care as much. But you have Syracuse running your veins. I have inserted my seed into West Virginia as my wife's family are all West Virginia natives. They, they come from West Virginia. my in-laws all went to West Virginia and her uncles, everybody.
Starting point is 00:30:46 And Neil Brown needs to be in the hot seat. Neil Brown should have been fired after this year. And I know that none of you all care, but I do. It is, okay, so I talked about, I talked about college football's highest crimes and how Brent Venables going, six and seven is one of them. One of the other ones.
Starting point is 00:31:07 And let's be clear, all this is not on Neil Brown. A lot of this is on West Virginia, leadership because that school doesn't have money, right? And that's one of the reasons why day, and it's all mismanaged. It's arguably corrupt. It's one of the reasons why Dana Holgerson leaves. Neil Brown comes in, he goes five and seven.
Starting point is 00:31:24 Then in the COVID year, he goes six and four. It's like, okay, that's improvement. You know what West Virginia's leadership does? They sign him to an extension that includes an $18 million buyout. If you were to fire him at the end of this year, Ed Osron won a national championship got fired less than two years later, Aaron, the same time frame that Neil Brown would be getting fired this year. And he had a $17 million buyout. So Neil Brown got a bigger buyout from a school that has no money than did for going 64 in 2020 than Eddo did for winning
Starting point is 00:32:01 and Addy. It's just unreal stupid. And now he's back. And no, Western Union is not back. They suck. They finished at the bottom of the Big 12 from six and four. They were six to seven the next year in 2021 with a bowl game loss. Five and seven this year, they're backsliding. They tried to bring a JTNals, it didn't work. Western Union is a school that has great football tradition. They deserve better. It pains me at all my Mountaineer family that there's not enough couches burning,
Starting point is 00:32:30 that every Saturday has become something to dread rather than be excited about. Neil Brown, get the hell out of here. You're on the hot seat. I think just you talk about the numbers. I mean, college football is just, is so wasteful when it comes to money. It's like money just is flowing through these universities, even the ones that aren't to be able to give deals like that to coaches. And why are we giving coaches long deals, big time guaranteed deals?
Starting point is 00:32:57 I mean, good for these agents. One successful year. Yeah. All you need. All you need is one good year. I mean, look at our guy there at Mike Norville at Forte State. And I do think Florida State is going to have success going forward. But you never know.
Starting point is 00:33:12 I mean, look at these other coaches. I'm sure every fan base was saying like, oh, look at West Virginia, or look at this school, look at this school. They had one good year. Now it's off to the races. LSU, our coaches won national championship. We're off to the races. Ain't no stopping us.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Yeah. And then boom, all of a sudden, like consistency is just so hard to come by in college football. And it's either one of two problems. One, it's either shame on the university for spending that kind of money and essentially signing these long-term deals. or you can look at this, shame on the fan base for having those expectations that every coach, because they have a 10 and 2 season or 11 to 1 season, are the next coming of Nick Saban. Like, shame on you.
Starting point is 00:33:53 Like there's only one Nick Saban. There's only one coach that can do what he's done over the past 12 years. Most teams do go through these cycles where it's one or two good years and then you lose a quarterback and some good guys that maybe you have two okay years, then you're back to good, then you're bad and you're good. Like there's Evan Flows to this whole thing. So to me, honestly, yes, shame on the universities for these eight-year contracts and all this guaranteed money, but shame on the fans a little bit for thinking because if coach won 10 games,
Starting point is 00:34:21 that all of a sudden we're never going to be under double-digit wins going forward under this coach. Like that's to me unrealistic. The problem is you can drop down, I think, to like eight, nine, but you really can't start to get in that seven range. Especially not when you're at like a Florida state or something long as like you say there's only been one saving, but like Star Wars, there is another, and it's your new Kirby, who's about to get his ass handed to him in next year's SEC championship. Can't wait. Next on the hot seat list. Very simple here. Mel Tucker. Okay, Michigan State had the incredible year two years ago, and he is in the odd position of his own success being his greatest enemy. It's exactly what
Starting point is 00:35:02 we were talking about, Aaron. It's probably not realistic to expect Michigan State to all of a sudden go from B where they were when Tugger took over to them be a 10-win team every single year. Now, I think that is attainable in East Lansing, but those kind of things take time, right? Tucker caught a bit of lightning in a bottle and the chaos of the beginning of the transfer portal and everything. And so he gets this big contract. And without that contract, I'm probably not having this conversation. But with great money comes great expectation. It's like a financial Spider-Man.
Starting point is 00:35:34 and Mel Tucker didn't just fall short of that expectation. He crashed through the floor. And if he does that a second year in a row, well, then all of a sudden you have overwhelming evidence that maybe he's not that guy versus the tiny bit of evidence that he is. So Mel Tucker's my next pick. You're up again. I'm surprised there's not been another name out of your mouth.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I'm kind of betting it's going to be right now. No, no, you're now up. Yeah, you're up. I suck the snake drafting. Yeah, you're really bad. You have two picks now. I do have two picks now. all right so in brum we had like three minutes right do we need a hurry three to five go yes okay okay
Starting point is 00:36:11 okay here we go all right my next guy on the hot seat right in ohio state right and oh i don't think he's going to get fired necessarily i just think it's going to continue to get hot and hot and hot and hot and hot to the point where he may want to just leave and go to the NFL like that's that's what i'm feeling here it's not like he's going to get fired he just may get to a point where like the fans are so upset because they you know lose to michigan for a third straight year hardball doesn't get an NFL job people kind of seem like okay now we're in the michigan dominant similar to what we had to deal with and he kind of just gets sick of it and said okay you guys aren't grateful you guys don't want me then screw you i'll take my talents elsewhere so
Starting point is 00:36:52 i think it's less of hot seat getting fired more him hot seat wanting to say i'm out of here peace out do you yes yeah i'll go take an NFL job Okay, that that actually makes a lot sense. I like how you land that. And now we get the dual production benefit of clipping Ryan days on the hot seat, which may even be a bit too hot. I don't know. Like is it too hot where I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:17 We'll see. Okay. My final pick. I'll keep it simple here. Oh, my bad. You're right. You're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:37:23 My bad. Go ahead. Whoa. Whoa. Shut the fuck. I know you really want this one. Dude. I know you want this one.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Go. Take it earlier. Steve Sarkesian at Texas. I know you wanted to try Factor to get him in there. No, I actually didn't. I actually didn't have that on my list. I didn't have that on my list. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:42 No, because I think, I think Sarks, I think Sark's going to do just enough to stay employed. But I think I think he's bad. But it doesn't mean the hot, doesn't mean he's on the hot seat, though. I mean,
Starting point is 00:37:51 that's just, okay, that's fair. He's still, this is, he's clearly in a position right now where you had a, just like A and M, you just had an incredible recruiting class.
Starting point is 00:38:01 You've recruited well. You got a man. HIPER on Texas football is bigger than it's maybe been in a decade plus. You're about to make the move to the SEC. People are really, really excited. And if you go out there and are below expectations again this season, then yeah, that seat's going to continue to get warmer and warmer and warmer. And if you are a seven and five football team, I think he's gone.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Like I do think he has to once again reach eight, if not nine wins in order to keep his job for the 2024 season, which I think he will. I'll say if he doesn't know, it's gone. If they don't manage 10 wins in the big 12, yeah, they should both be fired. I agree. But then again, like what if Arch is balled them?
Starting point is 00:38:42 I will see. Okay, my final pick. I hate to do it because I really like this guy, man. But I think it's Sam Pittman. I think that Sam Pittman, yeah, I think that Sam Pittman. I mean, what, what Arkansas do last year, three and five in the SEC? I think Arkansas thought they were getting better than the Mississippi. Mississippi schools.
Starting point is 00:39:04 And I'm fascinated to see what's going to end up. I mean, honestly, maybe our debts on the list for Mississippi State because he arrived at being head coach is such an odd way and he's paid so little that he doesn't have maybe the most job security. But Sam Pimmons always having to overcome the idea that he's just a line coach, a line coach that got a bit lucky. And there's having so much success in every other sport in Arkansas that they want to start to be top of the line in football.
Starting point is 00:39:30 They think they should be better than Ole Miss and Mississippi State. And they started really good last year. By the way, by the way. They whipped up. Yeah, and they finished three and five in the SEC. And they lost the Texan Am again. They found a way to lose. They started off the year so strong.
Starting point is 00:39:45 They lose both their coordinators in the office. Now he made really good hires. But I don't know. Maybe I'm off base. Maybe I'm off base on Arkansas fans here. Like maybe they're happy with seven and six. Do you know? Remember before he got there.
Starting point is 00:40:00 They didn't want an SEC game in three years before he got there. I know. I know, but that quickly evaporates once you have a year like they had two years ago where they're pushing 10 wins and you feel like you're returning KJ Jefferson. I mean, look, I could throw Mark Poops on here just as easily. Are you more comfortable with Sam Pittman or Mark Poops? I think Pat Fitzgerald should have been on our list, honestly, Northwestern.
Starting point is 00:40:24 If you had been a new state, right? If you had put Syracuse Northwestern on this list, I would have not published the show. No, bro, it's the anti-journo list. We're going after all the media members of that. that point brum that's actually 4d level thinking fine fine if you want if your whole plan is to trigger my greenberg then be my guest yes yes we did it dude okay i'll okay we'll do a team decision boys all three of us mark poops or sam pitman around this thing up mark stoops or sam pitman i think both them are fine what am i saying am i not saying stoops yeah i vote pitman because i think they care
Starting point is 00:40:59 i vote uh uh i vote i mean you do similar to my Ryan Day where I think he that's not fair do not give you do not give Mark Stoops Ryan Day levels of success Marks do no no no no but but where he is five where he is it is equivalent it is equivalent for where he is at Kentucky that is equivalent to big big schools for where his consistency levels been of there is a fatigue factor with him of like you have been here we've we've kind of hit the ceiling and now we're kind of starting to go backwards a little bit but he's been Kentucky a lot longer than Sam Pittman's been in Arkansas to me.
Starting point is 00:41:38 For me, it's Marks, because they hate John Cal Perry so much right now because I mean, it is kind of crazy how much they will justify Mark Stubb's existence just despite John Calgary. Like that relationship has soured fast. Okay. So it sounds like Sam, where, I don't think we did we land on a final answer? I'm picking, I'm going to say, Sam Pittman.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Okay, pick you tip, but okay, there you go. Sam Pittman. Stick with it. Say it with your chest. Pussy. And chill out, dude. I'm trying to do you. What?
Starting point is 00:42:08 You don't like democracy? You're like working hand in hand with your fellow human beings. It's a snake draft. Yeah. Well, you know what? It's time to break the cycle, Aaron. If you just continue to repeat the same mistakes of the generations that come before you, well, I mean, I'm going with just doomed to be stuck in a vicious world.
Starting point is 00:42:24 I'm going with Mark Stoops. Arkansas, Arkansas beat the crap out of Kentucky at Kentucky and basketball the other night. So one up, go Arkansas. That makes sense. Go hogs. Yeah, that logic checks out. I agree. I'm taking Sam Pitt.
Starting point is 00:42:36 because he's so red. And my God, actually, now they think about the Mark Poops gets pretty red as well. All right. That'll do it for today's snaps. Hope you enjoyed it. We love you. Okay. And so we want you to rate and review the show.
Starting point is 00:42:50 If you like it again, it's my birthday. So you kind of have to. Otherwise, you're a bit of a jerk. You can also like and subscribe to the YouTube channel. You can side up for Fandoleaddley promo code snaps. Super Bowl winners, boys. Who does it? We are, I like the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Go, Chiefs. Thought about it like Ray Rod yesterday. I know. I'm not cheered for anybody. I think the Eagles win. I'm fading Mahomes. Pass rush, running the ball, always wins in these big games. A quarterback like Patrick Mahomes is one who wins in these type of games.
Starting point is 00:43:21 I'm going with a guy that's been there twice. Oh, yeah. Oh, that's right. Like when Tom Brady beat Nick Foles, right? Don't doubt B.D. Foles. I mean, geez. He probably has really big hands. All right.
Starting point is 00:43:37 We'll see you all. Monday for a brand new episode of snaps we love y'all
