Starting point is 00:01:37 slash football terms for eligibility and deposit restrictions, terms and responsible gaming resources. What's going on, everyone? And welcome in to a brand new episode of snaps. This is our college football week nine review, week in review, if you will, recap all the action from yesterday or at least a few of the biggest games, massively fun day of college football yesterday. I mean, the noon slate was one of the best that I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:02:08 I don't think I've, I mean, I don't. I don't think I'm exaggerating. Since I've been doing this job, I can't remember a noon slate where like four or five games all came down to an overtime or a field that was blocked or a field that was made at the end. It was fantastic. But on today's show, we're going to talk a little Alabama, B&L shoot a start. Then we'll head over to the Big 12 as Texas survives. Oklahoma does not. Washington out dueling USC out west.
Starting point is 00:02:40 and then UGA rolling right along. Let's start with LSU, Alabama. And, look, Alabama handles LSU in T-Town. And I think a few themes are obvious here, Aaron. The first of which is this is a big win for the old sports cliche. You're only as strong as your weakest link, right? A lot of times we get tired of cliches because we hear them so much that they sort of lose their meaning. but, you know, generally, the only way you end up becoming a cliche is if you're rooted in some sort of just core truth.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And we said it all week long, this is going to be a test of that theory. And well, LSU's weakest link looms largest here. And as far as, look, I mean, as far as LSU team goes, you've seen them twice now play against playoff caliber teams. And both games played out pretty much the exact same way with Florida State and Alabama, where the offense because it's so good. Fought hard, kept you in it early, but ultimately that defense is just entirely too flawed to help you win big games.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Well, that's where I was, I'm not torn on the fact that LSU's defense is bad, but I'm also torn the fact of like how much Alabama's offense has truly improved this season. And I think that that has to go into this little bit too of like, yeah, they took advantage of a, you know, a defense that had a bunch of freshmen playing the secondary.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Wingo was not playing, which was a huge miss for the Alabama. Alabama front, you know, to be able to get after to Milro. But I do. I don't even know, I don't know, though, dude. I don't think he mentioned it. He's been hurt. He's been hurt all year.
Starting point is 00:04:17 The pastoral doesn't have a passress. They haven't had a pastor of all season long. I don't know. Maybe. I don't think so. But maybe. But I want to go to the pot of, like, Alabama to me still over the past few weeks has grown in an offense.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Like they've found their identity. And for Jalen Milro to finally just say, you know what? I may be the most. athletic dude on the football field. And he hasn't really shown off his legs this year. Like he has been adamant, like, I want to be a pocket quarterback. I want to be a guy that sits in here and throws the ball down the field. At times he sits in there a little bit too long and get sacks and negative plays.
Starting point is 00:04:52 But guess what? He'll then create an explosive play through the air that will make up for all those, you know, missed opportunities to possibly run the football where last night was more of an urgency to just take off and go. And you saw the explosiveness. You saw that first burst, that second burst, the, you know, put the foot in the ground, get north and just run right by defenders. Like, that's dangerous. So I do want to give credit to Alabama offensively.
Starting point is 00:05:16 Like they are coming into their own a little bit here right now. Jalen's taking care of the football. He's not really making a lot of mistakes. He got away with a couple throws last night. But he's going to be a risk taker. And that's just going to come with the territory of who he is as a quarterback. But when he can go run for 155 yards and four touchdowns and and for, of defense to be able, you know, be more disciplined in their rush lanes,
Starting point is 00:05:39 he's going to be a tough cookie to slow down the rest of the season. So I do want to give props to them. Well, and he's defense man is just, oh, so good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I mean, you're right. I look, I started this talk about LSU because obviously it's when the post game on last night. That's kind of like from my head goes.
Starting point is 00:05:55 But the story here, you're correct, is Alabama. This is a very good. This is a flawed Alabama team that has just gotten better and better, better all season long and now they look like they're rounding and deformed to win the west and go challenge Georgia in the east. So you're right. And Jail Miller, Jail Milro is the second highest rated pastor in the SEC coming into this. So he's been efficient. He's been explosive. And then this was the ultimate realization of his legs. I mean, 20 carries on. I'll know the exact numbers, but 11 of 14 on third down and just live, it felt like
Starting point is 00:06:41 every single time it was third and 10 Jalen was just like all right fuck it I'm gonna run and it was just and it was just unstoppable LSU had no answer for it these third and long situations they're they're so scared to get beat over the top with their their DB so you guys line back dropping in depth and safety's dropping in depth
Starting point is 00:06:57 and you know if you give him any sliver of space to just take off and run he's gonna do it which is like to me leaning into the game I said it last week on our show was like I would rather put pressure on him and force him just to get the ball out now and not let him see. You can't get LSU,
Starting point is 00:07:13 but LSU can't get pressure. That's why I'm, you need to bring six. You need to bring five or six. You need to bring one more than they can protect. So I just think they gave him, they gave him too much time to get through his reads and then decide, okay,
Starting point is 00:07:28 nothing's there. Let me just go run and get the first down. Yeah, look, maybe, is very cautious. Yeah, it was.
Starting point is 00:07:34 I know there were some numbers out there about him being like horrible against quarters. And so maybe they thought they could emulate that, but. The thing is, Jail Miller being horrible against quarters probably is more like, okay, if Texas is running quarters, their front four was getting home, right? And so you have the coverage and you have the rush. Again, I don't, I don't really, I don't come out of it with like, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Listen, LSU made the big mistake on offense. Like it was back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, like this had an opportunity to be not to the extreme of the Washington USC game, but both teams were tracking to get in the 40s. Yeah. And then all of a sudden, LSU had the big drop. Was it Mason Taylor? Yeah, the big drop.
Starting point is 00:08:17 They had a couple full-star penalties and a holding penalty. Which Bryant-Dinney shine. Brian Dinney, if you're an Alabama fan and you're in that number, you should. They shot themselves in the foot. They shot themselves in the foot offensively. They could have kept going and made this a four-quarter game. Yeah, but that's also like, but to me, that's also so indicative of the impossible situation that this LSU offense is in because this is a championship offense.
Starting point is 00:08:41 This is not a championship team and football is the ultimate team game and a drop on second and 17 that would have set up third and five should not feel like the difference, right? Like that that should not matter, honestly. But it does proletoe. Yes. The dea is so bad. The way your team's playing, the way the game was going, there was a feeling that we're going to have to probably score every single drive going forward.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And then you had a great defensive play by Alabama to come over the pick. Paul batted up in the air and, you know, so look, again, the story here is an Alabama team that is clearly, uh, this, look, Brian Kelly said this week that, you know, we're a year and having to building this thing at LSU, Alabama, Georgia, been doing this for a while. This is just clearly a better Alabama program. The top to bottom, the talent, the talent was just, you know, more fleshed out and better than what LSU brought the bear. Brian Dini was fantastic. Forced a lot of false starts, forced a lot of weird snap problems.
Starting point is 00:09:40 So credit to the time, man. Big time job getting it done. And now looking a little frisky heading over or heading, you know, into Atlanta here in a few more weeks to take on Georgia. So good job. Alabama, LSU falls. And yeah. Now to the big 12, we go. Texas, who's a another week of very close games for your big 12 favorites. One survives. One does not. Let's start with Texas as they managed to endure and survive a just flurry from Kansas State. I mean, Texas came out and they looked incredible.
Starting point is 00:10:24 And it's funny because in the in the, in our text group for snaps, you know, Brum's taxi. And we're all talking. We're like, man, dude, you know, we may have to eat crow like, Texas is really good. Sark is awesome. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They have this great play design.
Starting point is 00:10:39 It's like fourth and one. They line up like they're going to run the tush push with Malik Murphy, which makes all this into the world. And then it sort of flips into a belly flip. They go 50 yards or a touchdown. And at that point, it's like 17. You're like, okay, Texas, let's ride. But somewhere, he actually, no,
Starting point is 00:10:56 and then even at the beginning of the second half, I forgot they forced a big turnover to score. And I think they went up like 24-7. And it just felt like, oh, okay, you know. There's a bubble pen. Yeah, and then, dude, credit Kansas State and Chris Clemen, they're defending Big 12 champs for a reason because they found a way to dig down deep, create turnovers, create plays, and make this thing into a game and officially force overtime,
Starting point is 00:11:20 just could not get the comeback across the finish line. Well, listen, my big two takeaways from this game right now, and I'll start with Texas versus, you know, without your starting quarterback, if you had Quinn yours, I think they win by 20 plus. I think this secondary for Kansas State, you saw them very susceptible. Texas is too many athletes. It just you figured out what Malik could and couldn't do. You made the second half adjustments.
Starting point is 00:11:46 And he's just, he's a little bit too inconsistent, you know, a little bit too reckless with the football at times. I'll throw pick in the first half as well. Short-armed a ton of throws. It just tells me he's not, you know, doesn't have that confidence just yet. but you survived and you won. And I think to me, Texas is in the spot right now where they are when they're at their best or one of the best teams in the country. Can you continue to just survive and win, especially with your backup quarterback?
Starting point is 00:12:11 And the second thing kind of to that point, you know, Kansas State had an interesting call where they went for it in the O.T instead of kicking the fangle to put into double OT. I will never fall a coach on the road as an underdog going for it in that situation. but Texas, you had been the better offense in the second half. You'd cause the turnover. Like Texas had really, you know, they had six points, you know, or three points in the fourth quarter. They had the field goal like they were struggling offensively at that point in the game where you kind of had some mojo going in the right direction.
Starting point is 00:12:47 So I agree. I would have kicked it and said our offense is playing better right now than Texas is and force a double overtime. But once again, like I'm never going to follow a coach for going forward. on the road when you're when you're an underdog no i mean you're well no but you hit the nail on the head i mean that is the nuance there right is that that's a decision that we do applaud um and i'm in agreement with you but to your point game flow kind of dictated that maybe and that's why these situations you know for all the talk of like these sorts of just head coach decisions
Starting point is 00:13:19 being purely analytical um and for those that don't know we're talking about at kansas state had first and goal they get out to fourth and goal from the five and instead of kicking the field go to tied in four a second overtime they end up going for and they don't get it right um but like that's why yes uh you need to rely on analytics and everything for things like odds and whatnot but at the end of the day you also have to feel those decisions in terms of how the game is going well you know the Oregon Washington game you know it's four down Oregon in its own territory goes for it but like the way the second half had been going for Oregon once again like your defense had been stopping them And Washington, I think, maybe scored one point there in the second half or one, one, one touchdown.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Like, they weren't moving the football. Like, I still would have taken my chances with my defense forcing Washington. They go 90 yards to see what happens. But, you know, you're on the road and you want to kind of knock them out there. Like, you understand the reasoning, but like I still am a big fan. I'm a big fan of like, you have to feel the flow of the game and what is going on. Your defense for Kansas State was winning at that moment. And your offense was scoring points.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Yeah, look, it's a situation where really I don't think there's a wrong decision, right? I kind of agree with both ways that you wanted to play it. They played their hand. They came up short. And yeah, if I'm a Texas fan, I'm ecstatic here because like you said, this is a survive time until you get Quinn Ewers back. And this is a defending Big 12 champ. Like, this is a good Kansas State football team that wasn't good early on in the season, but has found their way, found their identity.
Starting point is 00:14:53 and they've gotten good. So this is a big win for Texas, and Longhorn fans should be very, very excited about it because he's again, I know this is kind of like, it's a little rote, a little boring to say because it almost feels obvious. But the big takeaway is that these are the games that Texas
Starting point is 00:15:13 has lost in the past, right? And now you've seen a couple of weeks in a row in which they've avoided losing those, even though to your point, Aaron, again, it feels like the scoomers. with Malik Murphy for the first couple drives is great.
Starting point is 00:15:27 And then it's kind of falling off the rest of the game. They just don't that very far back. You've seen back to back weeks right now where, yeah, I get, I know 100%, but like you've seen back to back weeks where he's, he is turnover prone and we'll just kind of throw the football up and doesn't, you know, doesn't have, he has the touch down the field, but he doesn't have the intermediate touch where he can get up and over defenders. You know, the ball kind of just flat lines about, you know, you know, 10 feet in the air. and dbs can you know linebackers can get up there and make plays on it and and look and he made
Starting point is 00:15:56 some great plays outside there there there's a fourth and four with seven minutes to go that was massive where texas had to dig get it uh kansas state had all the momentum in the world and malik murphy came up with a beautiful play so good on sark good on texas how about you long horns moving along uh and as far as not controlled their own destiny uh don't worry about any of that right like well there's two things first off in a fair world the playoff committee told you that if every other conference takes care of their job the big 12 is left out yeah but i'm that's what i'm saying bro i mean i can feel how hard the playoff committee is all the way here in louisiana just if if they are presented with a 12 and one texas like i i mean if or
Starting point is 00:16:47 Oregon beats an undefeated Washington. No, no, no, bro, no, I get it. I get it. I get it. That's what I'm saying. No, no. Like I said, in a fair world, or at least in a consistent world, what the playoff committee laid out here in week one says that if everybody else does their job, Texas is left out. All I'm saying is be real fucking interested to see if they would actually leave techs out of your research. I agree.
Starting point is 00:17:08 And if you're a text saying, like somebody will probably fall. This shit never plays out. Like nobody ever, it never plays out as easily as you think it's going to. So just look at Oklahoma, who goes into Stillwater last year of Bedlam and oh my God. I mean, Aaron, there is something deeply, deeply funny about Oklahoma dominating this series, right? All week long, I've been bitching about how everybody talks about how they love Bedlam, but there's actually no good moments. Oklahoma had a 91 to 19 advantage in the series coming into it.
Starting point is 00:17:47 So there was something deeply funny to me that in a series that Oklahoma dominated for over a hundred years, over a century that the Cowboys and Gundy are going to walk away with bragging rights as this game put out to pasture. Unbelievable. This reminds me a lot of my relationship with my big brother, where he was always six years older. you know, he would beat me up, you know, there was never really a competition while I got a little bit older and we would play like, say, ping pong and he would still beat my butt. But as soon as I won one time and he wanted that rematch, I'm like, no, we're done. We're done. He would get so mad and I do it all the time.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Like he'll beat me in everything like over and over and he's just a better athlete than I. But as soon as I beat him one time, he wants to run it back, I'm like, no, like, times up. The best example of this, and this is hilarious. I'll be real quick. We were playing spike ball on the beach. It was me and a buddy and then him and a buddy. And we won. And it was Sharon,
Starting point is 00:18:48 my wife's turn to play with her friend against me. Like, winner stays on, loser goes off. Yeah. My brother went off. I had turned into like a full on fight of like, no,
Starting point is 00:18:56 we're running it back. I'm like, Josh, you lost. Like, sorry. Like you have to go sit out. If you want to run it back after Sharon plays,
Starting point is 00:19:02 you can. But you got to go sit in the corner and watch this one. And he wouldn't leave. So like we ended up like not playing the rest of the day because he refused. Wait. to let Sharon come. Yeah. But Josh, come on.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Come on. You know what you. Come on. You got to get together. Little brother wins. You take the ball and you walk away. And hey, I'm sorry,
Starting point is 00:19:20 big bro. That's what it kind of feels like for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. That is an insidious little brother strategy, although not the spike ball story. The spike bowl story, that's just Josh being a bitch. Like you got to take your L and you got to respect the rotation. And if you want to get back on the table,
Starting point is 00:19:33 you can get back just after the next game. Wow. That's actually the perfect metaphor for this game. because oh you dominated and now nobody's going to talk about it for years we're going to remember this game i mean so so oakland state won for the second time in a row in stillwater that's the first time they've done that since it's 1930 and 1932 90 years ago guys and and and to be clear okay so actually first off i know we're going to talk about the o you perspective but i don't know what sort of mulleted magic gundi has but like oh you
Starting point is 00:20:09 should be dead in the water. Everybody transferred out. It was nothing but bad headlines all off season. They started awful this year. How in the fuck do we look up and they're ranked seven and two, five and one in conference and maybe have the best running back in the entire country? Like I don't understand. And a clear path to the the Big 12 championship because they have the three of the teams that are newcomers to the big 12,
Starting point is 00:20:35 that were a group of five teams last year. That sucks. That are awful. in BYU that have all struggled. So like, all of a sudden you look up like, man, Oklahoma State's going to be feeling good, playing without a confidence, you know, and going to be 10 and 2 all of a sudden. They lost to South Alabama. But I had South Alabama this earlier this year. Like that's not a bad team, but they get their ass, well, 33 to 7.
Starting point is 00:20:54 33 to 7. That doesn't make any sense, dude. And listen, Oklahoma was the better team in the game yesterday. You think? They shot themselves in the foot. Three turnovers. I mean, to me, that was the difference in the game. like out yeah but that's the thing is that Oklahoma was kind of trading on turnover luck earlier in the season now you know what I'm saying like yeah like they were that's one of the top turnover teams in the entire country but now we see that's horrendous throwing picks and he's he's cleaned it up I mean he's cleaned it up I mean that's the biggest difference in the game like three turnovers to one and a three score game on the road like you just can't go do yeah but I can't say better team when Oklahoma State is a time of possession of 37 minutes to 22 yeah
Starting point is 00:21:36 Yeah, but that's too. That's mostly because of different philosophies of how, like, time of possession nowadays is not a stat you look at like, oh my God, look, they just dominate the game because of the ball longer. Like Oklahoma is an up tempo, fast-paced offense.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Oklahoma State wants to run it and just beat you up. So like, yeah, but that's what I'm saying. I'm going to, but I'm not good, but I exactly though, but I have trouble saying better team when
Starting point is 00:22:00 Ali Gordon the second went for 33 carries, 137, two touchdowns, right? Like that is. He was off to a slow start, though. Oklahoma State, I mean, that's how the running game works. It's how it's how it works.
Starting point is 00:22:10 We just don't know anymore because nobody does it like that anymore. But that's how it works. It fucking wears you down like erosion, like water on the rocks. And by the third and fourth quarter, that shit starts to hit. And you could feel Oklahoma's will break a little bit at the end of that game. It's a bad loss for Oklahoma.
Starting point is 00:22:30 It is a two weeks ago, you are potential number one team. Like if you would have done the, the playoff rankings two weeks ago, they probably would have been the number one team in the country. And now it's back-to-back losses. And you had a good West Virginia team coming in. I mean, it's, I still think, like, what would we said beginning the season?
Starting point is 00:22:50 Like if Oklahoma can get to nine wins, that's a good year heading into the SEC. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. We said that. But that was without beating Texas in the triple R. So you just move the goalpost. You move it on them. That's fair.
Starting point is 00:23:08 I'm saying that's what happens. Yeah, like that's what happens with the expectations. You're talking to look, I'm not talking about what's logical or right. I feel like, like you said, if we go back to the beginning of the year and after we've seen this, well, yes, nine wins to be here, all that stuff. But bruh, that ain't what these fans are thinking. Well, no, I just had all. And Auburn, Auburn, just like that too.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Like, Auburn, if you would have told me beginning the season as an Auburn fan that, hey, we're going to go seven and five with close losses to Georgia and Ole Miss. and we're going to have a four-game winning streak heading into the Iron Bowl, you would have taken that. Like, hell yeah, year one, we're in a bowl game and we got seven wins
Starting point is 00:23:43 and had some competitive games against the best teams in the country. Take and run. But now, but now since you had those close losses, you think that, hey, we could have won a couple of them and hey, we should win the Iron Bowl,
Starting point is 00:23:53 and hey, we should be eight or nine wins. All of a sudden, it's just like, whoa, pump the brakes. Like, you were a team just hoping to make a bowl game this year. Now a sudden that that expectation's gotten way up. So I get the moving at the goalpost. I'm just saying, I still think this is a good.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Oklahoma team, they're just not, they're not, they're not a playoff team. And we've, we've seen that for two weeks now. And you know what, Aaron, the defense kind of sucks for all the talk of Brent Venables in this defense and they were so good early on. This is now three weeks in a row in which the defense has allowed big plays and they have failed you at the biggest moments. And, you know, look, don't make me put the cowboy hat on sooner fans. you all got real mad at that video talking about you know I'm not sure about Brent Venables
Starting point is 00:24:38 the culture and everything and look I get it right you're all victory lapping on me and I understand why but how you feel about Brent Venables today you know don't talk to me I don't look I'm asking you I don't think there's a they're a very passionate fan base
Starting point is 00:24:56 just like a lot yeah but I don't think there's there should not be a bird in the boat's mentality right now. Look, look, you're asking for rationale. Look, all I'm saying is if you're in Oklahoma, if I don't want you to do something for me, would you look in the mirror and I want you to ask yourself, how do I feel about Brent Vitables? And that's all. That's all I want you to do. Because to me, it feels like a pretty fascinating journey from the penthouse to the outhouse within a month.
Starting point is 00:25:22 You are a made man and then every single thing that you've done since you became made has been bad. And now you lost two and around. And the season's kind of reeling. And you're lost Bedlam and Little Brother wins, even though you always want to do it. Look at that. Take your ball and go home. Unbelievable. How about the duel out west? So unfortunately, Aaron, I just had to watch the YouTube highlights of this. I still, I haven't gotten to go back and watch the game next, because this was during the, the LSU game that I had to cover. But my God, this thing just seemed like a quarterback, big play, electric factory. Dude, if you, if you had the, if you had the split screen, once I was going back and forth between the two games of the LSU, Alabama,
Starting point is 00:26:06 and then this game, it was like, if you love quarterback play, you're in heaven. You're watching four of the best quarterbacks, you know, go at it, you know, just unbelievable performances, big plays. You know, Caleb was absolutely tremendous. You know, love the video at the end, just of how emotional he was. I don't know if he saw there or not, but, you know, he was up with his family. People were like clowning him for crying. And so, like, fuck out of here, bitch.
Starting point is 00:26:31 You never been in the fight? Yeah. Like that dude cares, man. That's what the thing that piss me off you have into this. Yeah, that's the thing that pissed me off when what's his name said something about, like him quitting on his team and just go get ready for the NFL. Like, he cares. Like, these are your boys, man.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Like, you should know that as a former player, like what it means to be in that locker room with your team, especially as a leader, as the quarterback. It's just different. And I appreciate so much of just him kind of letting those emotions show a little bit. Just really shows you how much he cares. But he was terrific. Michael Pennix was terrific. It came down to, you know, same thing kind of with, with LSU, Alabama. USC was driving down, I believe, three at the time.
Starting point is 00:27:13 They get a penalty on a holding. And then he gets sacked. So Washington, they punt the football. It was kind of a decision, do you go for it? Do you not? They punted it. And all of a sudden, next play, Dylan Johnson reels off like a 60-yard run. And it's just like it.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Well, and for all the quarterback talk, we should talk about Dylan Johnson. because, well, and then you could also use these defense because they're just so bad. It's not in the run. It's unbelievable. But Dylan Johnson. Every 16, they gave up. Dylan Johnson, 26 carries, 256 and four touchdowns. Can you imagine averaging 10 yards of carry on 26 carries? That's exactly what deal.
Starting point is 00:27:53 And to be clear, we now look at Washington's win over Oregon. Washington wins here. This team is at its best. when they can get Dylan Johnson going. And this is now yet another game. Like people don't want to give Washington credit for this. They only want to criticize because some of these games are close and that's fine. But this is yet another game where I'm not how close it was.
Starting point is 00:28:13 No, no, I don't. They give a ton of points. But the defense has gotten worse this season. That's Caleb Williams. That's Caleb. I mean, I'll be credit. This defense has gone worse. This defense has gotten worse.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Okay, you can say that. But what I'm saying is this team has now won three or four games in which Michael Pinnick has not been all world. Like, like Pinnock's made some incredible play. He's don't me wrong, and he was really good. But his stat line is not the overwhelming Michael Pinnock's stat. Like the one play where he scrambles around and found the tight end on the
Starting point is 00:28:41 best plays of all season, right? But, but I mean, 22 or 30, 2.86, two touchdowns at a pick. A good day, not an overwhelming day. And yet, Washington still wins, this time beating USC 5242. Like championship teams find ways to win. They can adjust to the situation at hand. and Washington's done that a bunch this year and people don't want to give them credit for.
Starting point is 00:29:03 We'll see though, I get it. Like, I'm not going to fault anybody who says. I want to give them credit. I'm not not giving them credit. Like they're great wins. Like I said, that's a great win. But we're seeing massive chinks in the armor where I don't want, I'm just going to my narrative.
Starting point is 00:29:15 I don't think this is a team that ends up winning the Pact 12 and going to the playoffs. There's too many flaws in that football. No, I know. And that's what I mean when I'm saying people don't want to give them the credit is that everybody's expecting them to lose. Everybody's expecting Oregon to beat them in a rematch or them to drop one of these ones down the stretch and that's fine but you know what washington does cal and de bourne company they just keep fucking winning how many that in a row i think they should beat that team like they
Starting point is 00:29:40 they were the bet they were still the better team like u sc's defense like the offenses are a scratch both both of two the elite offenses in the country for how bad your team has been defensively washington you're not at the same level as u s defense u sc and ls u s u s u s u s u s u and ls u s u s u Spider-Man meme where it's just I posted that last night I did I did a poll really I did a poll is like which defense would you rather have USC or LSU yeah yeah no I mean it's just like I don't know do it's the old South Park episode where they're deciding to try to elect like it's either like a shit sandwich or a douche or something I don't know it's basically those two defenses they're awful and the orphans are awesome but again it doesn't matter it's a team game that's what we are learning more more You have to be complete. And that's where I like Washington. I think Washington is complete. But, you know, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Fuck you. What do you mean? You're not watched their defense. You can't say they're a complete football team. Their defense is not good. Their defense has literally won games this year twice when, when Michael Pennington did even throw a touchdown. So fuck off.
Starting point is 00:30:44 And what are you talking about? The defense came up with a place to beat Oregon. What are you talking about? Like, uh, you know, I can't. I can't. I can't not with everybody. Have your opinion. I got mine.
Starting point is 00:30:55 You got yours. I don't think it's a good. I think it's an average defense. I mean, is it good enough for them to continue winning? Like, yeah, if your offense is excelling. But like, is it good enough to win a championship? I don't think so. And also, they're more complete team than USC.
Starting point is 00:31:08 That's what I said. And that's sure. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Fuck you, Aaron. I'm not letting you back on this spike ball. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:15 What do we got next? Oh, now we arrive. Here we go, boys. Congratulations to the Georgia Bulldogs. beating Missouri in You're just worried about brands Brands oh it's Missouri You can't give them credit
Starting point is 00:31:30 It's just Missouri It's not a great win It's Missouri No no no chill out I started a little flippant But this is a great win for Georgia Yeah They they looked
Starting point is 00:31:41 I'm starting to You know Carson Beck is starting to get good enough To where If you're playing against him Every time he drops back You're a little concerned right Like he feels like he's really seeing the entire field making great decisions. I do, but here's the weird part about this game, though, Aaron, and I want your opinion
Starting point is 00:32:00 because it felt like Georgia was dominating, but not pulling away. The score never reflected it. So like what was going on there? What do you think happened? Because it did feel like Georgia had firm control of the game. I don't know. I think I didn't, I never, see, I'm torn on that because I never felt Georgia was in doubt of winning the game.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Like there's never been like, uh-oh. But I never feel like Georgia was either pulling away, though, too. No, that's what I'm saying. They weren't pulling away, but that's exactly what I'm talking about. But it felt like they were in firm control, like, arguably like dominating the game. That's just Georgia this year. They're not, this is not the same team. And I thought it had the potential to be one of the, you know, I don't know how you want to rank the past three seasons of Georgia football.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Like, where would they end up falling between, you know, two of the best defenses we've ever seen in a really capable offense? And where would they fall in that spectrum? and they're definitely third on the list. They're finding ways to bend but don't break on defense. And I think that's the biggest thing is like they're giving up like first, the first drive of every single game. It's like might as well just give the team seven points. Just give them seven points.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Team scripts all their best plays. They go down there. They score. Then Georgia kind of figures out how to slow them down. But it's not been dominant. The defense line's not been dominant. They've been slacking against the run. Teams have been able to get the edge against them.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Yeah, are we concerned with Cody Trader? Are we concerned? Are we concerned? Like, okay, because everything starts to come down to Alabama for Georgia at this point, right? And so you see Cody Trader go for 22 and 112. Brady Cook had some success at times. And you're like, okay, what if that's Jalen Milrow and McClellan? What does that look like?
Starting point is 00:33:41 Are you concerned about Georgia Stopped? You should be concerned. I don't think this is a defense line that is good. It's not elite. not a game wrecker on that side. They struggle at times to get after the quarterback. They had some success first Florida. So you kind of felt like,
Starting point is 00:33:58 okay, man, are they turning the corner a little bit? I think that was more just Florida is not very good up front. And they've kind of shown us that the entire season. Like this is, it's just, it's a good defense. It's a really good defense. It's not elite. And they're going to give up yards and they're going to give up time of possession. And it's just going to, it's going to.
Starting point is 00:34:17 And I think that's the other thing, too. Like when I watch this game live, it felt like a pro game. a lot of running the football, the clock was running. This was the perfect example of these new clock rules. If you have two good offenses, kind of moving the ball methodically down the field, the game's going to fly by. Like the game is going to fly by. It's going to limit possessions.
Starting point is 00:34:36 And it's going to turn into a lower scoring game. And that's just what it turned out to be. Like this felt like a more of a Sunday game than a Saturday game to me. Yeah. And it's crazy. Even though it felt like Georgia was in firm control, I mean, Missou had the ball there late, down six with an opportunity,
Starting point is 00:34:55 and then just an inexplicable decision by Brady Cook. It just felt like his brain short-circuited for a second. I love seeing the campaign. You're falling backwards and you're like, I shouldn't be doing this, but I'm like. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I don't have the right balance or base to do it. I'm not Patrick Mahome.
Starting point is 00:35:16 So it's just not going to come out good. And then boom. Time slows down. and you know you're fucking up, but your body's still going through the motions and you can't stop it from fucking out. Too late. Zee or Stackhouse.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Bam. Nobody like, uh, Mizzou fans, I don't know how this will make them feel, but I still, I mean, you got to come away impressed if you're a Mizzou fan,
Starting point is 00:35:35 what Eli, drink-witz is building to go into Athens and to have the ball down six in the fourth quarter with an opportunity to potentially win the game to run the ball like you did. That's, I mean, it's a 10 and two football team. Yeah. They should take care of business.
Starting point is 00:35:51 the way like Tennessee is going to be interesting next week like can you emotionally put this game behind you and get ready for Tennessee that's you know all of a sudden looking a little bit better offensively but nine and three at worst I would expect 10 and two that's a hell of a season and you had two close losses of hers to the best programs in the SEC brand wise how are dog fans feeling about oh myth I I said this last week this was the game that concerned me more because Missouri is more balanced. Missouri has a good defense. Missouri has a good offense. Missouri can run the football. Missouri can throw the football. Like they're the better, you talk about complimentary football. Missouri is more complimentary than Ole Miss.
Starting point is 00:36:34 That's true. Ole Miss is offense, offense, offense, offense. And we saw, I mean, A&M's offense has been horrific this year. Not a good offense. A&M bullied. And A&M went up and down the field. They, I mean, by the end of the game, they were just running them over. They were running. I think, you know, Georgia will be able to get enough stops and their offense will be able to kind of do what they want with Ole Miss's defense, where I felt like, oh, Missouri can play good defense. Missouri can play good offense. You know, that balance can make this thing a little bit more interesting than what I think the next two weeks will look like for Georgia. Well, it's going to be an exciting finish, folks. What a kickoff to Turkey season.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Some big programs survive, some fall. Tigers are dead in the water, boys. But yeah. You know what the fuck Georgia State? They've had to catch these hands next week, dude. Have you called a Georgia State game this year? I feel like you're not. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:37:28 All right. That'll do for today's show. Please, please, please, you all like and subscribe to the channel. The road to 8K marches right along. First of all you have Florida next before Georgia State. I don't overlook the gators.
Starting point is 00:37:39 I know they had a, no, no, no, no, sorry. No, I had a conversation at the bar last night. And I was talking about how Florida's next. And some guy was like, no, we got Georgia State next. So I was like, oh, no, no, no, I'm wrong. no Florida. Oh, fuck yeah, then let's go, dude.
Starting point is 00:37:50 I'm ready to fuck up that little, I'm not a Florida fan. Florida's not going to go bowling. My, I'm not a Florida fan, and it pisses me off today, like Graham Mertzware 15. Like, I want to be Florida,
Starting point is 00:38:02 just so Billy Napier has to learn a lesson about letting Graham Mertzware motherfucking 15. Fuck you, Billy Nader. I was not retired. I don't know. It's ridiculous. I was not retired. It's a greatest part that's ever come through those doors.
Starting point is 00:38:15 I didn't try to win or multiple national champion. And you allow someone to wear that jersey. Not not even just someone. Okay. It's a big five star that you had to convince to come to school. You want a funny story. Grand motherfucking Mertz. Hey,
Starting point is 00:38:28 so I was a starter for one state championship. I played defense. The other one, like Mr. Florida, this was in high school. Mr. Florida broke all these records.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Over the summer, some sophomore slid in my DMs, some kid transferred from another school. played JV football, had like five catches as a freshman, said to my DM and say, hey, Mr. Murray, I just transferred the plant. Can I, uh, can we bring your number out of retirement so I can wear number 11? I've worn it my entire life.
Starting point is 00:39:00 I'm like, I didn't respond to him. I'm like, dude, hell no. Like you have done shit in your life to get my doctor. What the fuck, dude. Come on. Aaron, what's the fuck? You just said, why, why should this guy get 15? Like, I'm to, no.
Starting point is 00:39:14 If people is to. Sure. Yeah. No, no. I know, but that's still like, you got to let it. If a little kid asks you, dude, who was it? Was the kid end up being good, do you know? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:24 I haven't followed. I mean, this was this summer. So it was this, I don't even know if he started. Like he was like, that was this summer? It was this summer. Yeah. What the fuck, Aaron? You're a father of two, an adult.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Surely you could be like, oh, sure, kid. Whatever. Go ahead. Yeah. If he balls out, if he balls out this year, maybe I'll reconsider it for his junior, senior season. I got to go back and look at the stats. Oh.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Can be having anyone rock number 11. Come on. Okay. Okay. Okay. That's fair. That's here. We'll look at his stats and then we'll come to a snaps team decision about
Starting point is 00:39:54 whether or not he gets to wear your jersey. That's so funny. I thought this is from like way long ago. Wow. All right. That'll do for today's episode. Shout out to Pat Gunther. Help him produce this.
