Starting point is 00:01:53 That was five. Yeah, he says, how about them tigers? I agree, dude. Aaron Murray, how are you feeling this morning? Welcome in. Happy Monday, my friend. How we do? Happy Monday.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Happy Monday to everyone in the chat and Teabobb. It's good to have your voice back. You sound rested. And the big reason why my boy, T. Bob's rested is he missed a hell of a finale last night on House of Dragons. So if you watch the end of House of Dragons, don't spoil it in the chat for T. Bob. Are you watching it tonight? Are you going to get over with us? We can talk about it.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. It kind of sucks. I'm going to have to sacrifice sleep sometime over the next 24 hours, right? Because I still got to turn through this LSU game film, which takes about three hours. I got to watch an hour of House of Dragon and I've heard it's awesome I still have the last episode of Andor
Starting point is 00:02:44 to catch up on so I'm you know my my cup runneth over even though I will say this I did a little and door two for one with the previous two episodes and it was like an awesome Star Wars mini movie so I'm not like opposed to maybe
Starting point is 00:03:02 doing that again and just waiting for oh shoot my bad y'all I was trying to silence my watch So much. Click it off. Okay, relax, relax. I apologize. That's on me.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Rookie move. Fine. That's a fine. I got one comment. Real quick. Yeah. I'm a way for it. Since it's not in our rundown,
Starting point is 00:03:19 uh, light dogs, we're having a little bit of a, a Syracuse because everyone's feeling for us because we're the Cuse boys this weekend. Light dog, 1968 said Syracuse wasn't robbed. They gave it away.
Starting point is 00:03:30 I agree. They kind of got a little bit relaxed there in the second half and there's certain teams across the country, you know, Alabama, you could say Clemson, that the game ain't over until there's, you know, zero, zero, zero on the clock. Syracuse definitely kind of chilled out a little bit, didn't get the running back ball enough. But they got robbed. Third and 25, quarterback's running out of bound club, Nick, and I think a complete BS call that gave Clemson the first down. They went down
Starting point is 00:03:56 and scored a touchdown after that and just changed the momentum of the football game. They don't get that first down. They punt the ball. I think the game's over. So I think it's in my snips and snaps. Actually, we do have a little bit Clemson quarterback controversy. I don't want to get too much into it. It's our second topic today. But no, Clemson got lucky Syracuse, Arcus boys got screwed in that game or the weekend. And we'll get to during Clipson, but it just pisses me off because they're more talented by far than every ACC team. And yet they struggle with him. They're like, they're like, they're like the big bad bully that is getting, uh, you know,
Starting point is 00:04:36 know in a fight with like the little with somebody significantly smaller them and yet they're still almost losing the original we'll we'll get to clemson okay we started the campaign saturday night you'll know how i feel about climpson uh it's f clemson oh and i do i do want to be clear about this um my voice thank you for the earl support here but there's a good chance that it could be a snip by the end of the show about 17 000 times this morning during the morning show it would just completely uh just abandoned me in the middle of some beautifully worded soliloquy that was about to change sports media as we knew it. So if that happens again during the show, I apologize.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I agree with Andy here. So someone needs to take out Clemson. They are pretender all the way. I agree. We'll get there. First, let's start with someone who we know is no contender and who looks more and more like a pretender and who may be a fired tender. Oh, there was something there and I just don't get it. But it's Jimbo Fisher, man, Texas A&M, they're in trouble right now.
Starting point is 00:05:42 We mentioned it in center. They are in full implosion mode. I've seen how quickly these things could have. And I watch it firsthand with LSU following the greatest season of all time. I watched, you know, Dan Mullen in Florida blow up a year removed from nearly being in the playoff themselves, right, from taking the Alabama team to the brink in an SEC championship. These things can end fast. and they can end irrationally.
Starting point is 00:06:07 And you know what doesn't help? Quotes like this from Jimbo Fisher. After the games, he said, quote, this after losing to South Carolina, and let me preface it with this here, losing to South Carolina where the score wasn't as close as it looks just looking at, right? I mean, like South Carolina scored
Starting point is 00:06:26 to put that game away and go up 14 with a couple minutes of the game. That was not, he said, yeah, they get the on side and everything, so credit two or whatever, but that was not a seven point game. South Carolina beat A&M well. And Jimbo, after the game, said, quote,
Starting point is 00:06:43 we are right there. It's not like we're getting ran out of the stadium. We are right there. It's not like we're getting ran out of stadium when you're talking about losing to a South Carolina team that does not have, if you just look on recruiting boards, does not have barely maybe even have the talent of what you had. And I saw somebody else talking about it,
Starting point is 00:07:03 And they kind of were they, it brought up the, um, they brought up the mullin quote where he kind of of rolled his eyes at recruiting or the mullin quote where after they lose Kentucky, he talks about what we outgained them. Yardage wise. That is unreal. And, and I get it. It's human. He's like, you know, we've very lost Alabama.
Starting point is 00:07:19 It's unreal that after South Carolina just bullies you and handles you, South Carolina, you're texting him that you're going to sit there and say, uh, well, it's not like we're getting run out of the stadium. Like we played him pretty good, right? That's not the expectation. Sharon when you get $100 million. No. Well, I guess you can make the excuse to that Appalachian State didn't run you out of your own building too. So I guess if you want to play that game, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:07:45 At State did not completely run you out. They only won by three points. It's okay. Just a fun belt team coming into your home stadium, 100,000 people and won that game 1714. No, there are some real issues at Texas A&M. And it starts obviously on the office side of the football. I think this is we're beyond the breaking point. Like we hit the breaking point.
Starting point is 00:08:07 I would say maybe after that App State game, where you only score 14 points against that football team. You score 17 versus Miami, and Miami is completely imploded. You score 23 versus Arkansas, who's struggled outside of football. You lose the Mississippi State. You lose to Alabama.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And then now you lose to South Carolina, who credit to them has gotten better and better this season. They are much improved from what we saw versus Georgia, I believe week three of the year. I don't care. You're A&M. You got four and five stars. You got a coach who's getting paid like you talked about $100 million.
Starting point is 00:08:38 It's, there should not be this sort of excuse. We are once again past the point of discussing does Jimbo need to bring in someone new, someone younger, someone more innovative to spice this offense up. And it needs to happen. He needs to put pride aside. He needs to be the CEO.
Starting point is 00:08:58 He needs to run the circuit. I think he'd be a great CEO. I think he, you know, what his personality is, I think he'd be tremendous of just dealing with everything besides X&Os, the recruiting. We know he can do well there. The dealing with boosters, you know, boosters absolutely love Jimbo. I think they love him. They loved him before the losing season right now.
Starting point is 00:09:15 They did. They loved it before this year, yes. Yeah, they loved him for this game. He can win that back. I have no doubt about that. Just let him be the CEO and then let someone else who's more innovative come in there and run the ship when it comes to the ex and he was on the office side of the football. If he can humble himself enough to do that,
Starting point is 00:09:35 there is no doubt that A&M has the guys on that roster to make a quick turnaround. It's just can he, can he be that kind of guy. Well, I'll say he can't be. Will he humble himself enough to do it? Well, and that is the $100 million question. I think at this point, what's it like 80 or $90 million if you wanted to buy a Jimbo? But, but, and honestly, though, Aaron, the scenario you just laid out is why I'm not, I still, after all this bad, I still cannot bring myself to, to believe that the Jimbo's going to get fired here.
Starting point is 00:10:13 The price is too high. And again, his strengths are still there when it comes to running the college football program as a whole. And I think there's Texas A&M fan base after investing so much into this class is really, really, really wary about letting this highest rated ever freshman class of all time potentially shatter, which is what you would be inviting were you to move on, unless things have just gotten so toxic. I mean, that's thing is not like being in the A&M bubble. Maybe there's all kinds of stories about how like the players hate him, and it's untenable.
Starting point is 00:10:45 They need to move on. I haven't heard any of those whispers that could change the calculus that I'm doing here. But no, to me, it's exactly what Aaron said. Jimbo CEO, get a good, great young OC. empower him and you know use all of your experience as well to kind of help develop him and you could maybe still you can maybe still save this thing uh the the only thing that he has to do now and we said it last week Aaron he may have to staunch the bleeding uh because if this stuff gets too bad all of this rationality that we're trying to espouse right now like if they get too bad
Starting point is 00:11:21 and they continue to lose and they don't even make a bowl game all of this rationality could go out the window. Well, I think that, the problem is if they don't make a bowl game, then does the, because Dan Moll and I'm happy you brought Dan up, Dan, the year before he got fired, was in the SC championship game, took Alabama to the brink. I mean, the closest anyone played Alabama that year, I mean, almost won that football game. Next year comes around, things aren't great, and then Dan gets canned. Right now you look at A&M, three and four.
Starting point is 00:11:52 So you get five games ago, you have to win three your next five games in order to, get to be bowl eligible. You got Ole Miss this weekend. I know Ole Miss did not look great this past weekend. First, your Tigers there on the road. Ole Miss is a better football team than A&M. I expect Ole Miss to win that football game. Yes.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Florida, you know, we'll learn about what Florida looks like first George a little bit and see if Georgia kind of stomps them out or not. But I would say right now Florida is a better team than A&M. You know, you get both those games at home, but I still think you're not the better football team. At Albor. I would say right now going on the road, I would pick Auburn to win the football game.
Starting point is 00:12:27 UMass at home and then LSU at home. So luckily you get four or your next five games in your home stadium. So I think that that obviously is a big plus. But it's hard for me to say right now that there are three wins left on that schedule. So now of a sudden, if you are five and seven, is that enough for people to say, okay, this is embarrassing? We are A&M. We're paying this money.
Starting point is 00:12:52 We have these type of recruits. and we can't even make a bowl game, do we look to move on from Jimbo? And a couple of names that came up to my mind. If they were to move on from Jimbo, and the issue is you're going to have to pay him $90 million, and then you have to then commit to get any one of these guys, or at least two of these guys,
Starting point is 00:13:10 you'd have to then commit probably $9, $10 million to these guys. Yeah, they know the money. It's a lot of money to spend on one, getting rid of Jimbo and then two, bringing in a new head coach. But these are the guys that I would go after if I may and him because you do have the brand you have the money of the facilities you have the recruits you're in the cc west you get everything going for you you can get whoever you want
Starting point is 00:13:29 urban mire hugh frieze alex golish the the oc for tennessee those are my three if for some crazy reason say a and m loses for their next five which once again could happen they lose omiss they lose a four to lose a ls u mass they're four and eight if they're four and eight I think it becomes a real conversation. Do we bite the bullet and move on? And those are kind of the three I would look at if I was going to get a new head coach. Okay, okay, a lot to get to here.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Bama Boy says A&M needs a $90 million PPP loan. That's very funny. Parker Horton saying, go get Bilema back. Bring Brett back to the West. Aaron, you know I vehemently disagree with you on this Urban Meyer take. Like A&M looks so dysfunctional right now. culturally and the answer is not to bring in the only man who has been even more
Starting point is 00:14:28 dysfunctional in football over the last couple of years uh Hugh Freeze is interesting who Liberty beat who did Liberty beat the hell out of this weekend Liberty seven and one they beat uh they beat uh BYU you yeah yeah yeah yeah the hell out of BYU dude first off you know no no no no but you know the foul Wells love getting one over on the Mormons. I mean, that's why they're paying us. Well, here's a deal, though. Hugh Freeze is a man of faith. He's very upfront about that. Liberty in theory is a school of faith. And they pay him $4 million a year. Like, I feel Hugh Freeze, I think, is a very good football coach. And somebody will maybe eventually give him that opportunity. But does Liberty kind of match?
Starting point is 00:15:16 They have more money. They know what to do with. Does Hugh Freeze want to leave? I think, I think, Like, whatever, I see a world in which maybe freezes a career guy there. There's one name that Texas A&M should pursue first and foremost. Andy J. in the chat, say Matt Ruhl. No, no, no, no, no. We all know Matt Ruhl needs to go to Nebraska. I told you that plenty here on stamps. Aaron, there is one name that A&M needs to go after, and he already coaches in the SEC West.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Tulane Kiffin? If I was A&M and I had all the money in the world, I am making. making Lane Kiffin say no. And I get it. It would be awfully sketchy for both parties. Well, sketchy in terms of like PR, right? Because after all of this come to the sip that Lane Kiffin has built up at Ole Miss for him, then to leave the sip simply to go to college station for more money and better players and facilities and everything like that and support and whatnot, that would be a direct commentary against everything that he sold recruits and transfers of the past couple of years.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I also get that he feels right now, Lane does. He's been very upfront about this in the NIL era. It's just about where can I make the most money? And he feels a bit handicapped. He feels like he has having a new fight at a resource disadvantage, and quite frankly, he is. Well, how does he erase that? Go to the places that has the best resources in the world. And I don't care about what happened last week against LSU.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Lane Kiffin is incredible. And look, for the first quarter, it felt like that old. miss offense is going to be unstoppable. But, but I mean, look at what he did, uh, coming back up at FAU. It's where he's suddenly now gotten Ole Miss where they were just top 10 in the country. They won like 15 to 17. They've won like 11 or 12 in a row at home at this point. I mean, we can go through it. If, if I was Tex A&M, I know it sounds really crazy and like how could Lane Kippen do that? Well, maybe because he knows in the, it's like Brian Kelly. He got all that crap for leaving Notre Dame and going to LSU. Hey, but now that they're winning, you're seeing
Starting point is 00:17:19 the Brian Kelly positive spin stories start to get put out there and a forgiveness of leaving behind his people. So like Lane would have to bank on eating a lot of shit in the short term knowing that if he won, it would be all good in the end. But I think, I think that makes, I mean, I don't want to see that. But if I was A&M, I would, I think that would be the first person that, like the first person I would make tell me no before I go on to other options. No, I absolutely love that i mean i'm a huge fan of lane and i'm with you lane is you know what he did last year at old miss winning 10 games you know maybe we see that this year i think obviously there's still path to do that it's going to be difficult but he is handicapped and when it comes to
Starting point is 00:18:02 resources and money and nil and a legitimate chance to win a championship but we also i think so that we also need to realize too this is for a and m fans as i say this why do we why are we why do we expect A&M to all of a sudden be like this elite football team? Like when's the last time they were consistently an elite team fighting for a championship? I don't remember any time in my lifetime. That's for sure. So why? Because they're in Texas, because there's a lot of money there.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Obviously, that means you're going to win football games. You're going to win championships. Obviously, that method is not working. Or they would have just as many wins as Alabama because they spend more money than anyone else. They have the best facilities. They compete on all those fronts. but something is not translating to actually winning on the football field. So I think for us and for A&M fans, you need to realize that this,
Starting point is 00:18:53 this maybe isn't a program that is as deserving as we keep making them out to be of a top 10 program. So I do like playing Kiff and that would be a 1001 choice if you didn't want to leave. They're definitely not deserving to meet a top 10 program. In terms of top 10 potential, I mean, I feel you, what you're touching on, My other co-host and all the bench, Jake Hester always talks about, which is like we do seem to be given Texan M a benefit to doubt constantly that their history just has not warranted. And granted, in 2020, they go 9 and 1.
Starting point is 00:19:27 They get close to a championship, whatever. That's still very impressive. But unfortunately, it looks like the outlier as opposed to the rule, right? I think with me, though, Aaron, where my fear still comes in and that it just takes the right guy is simply that especially nowadays, we all know money. is power in college football, right? Look at all of the forces that are shaping it, whether it's conference re-alignment,
Starting point is 00:19:51 players, transfer, everything, and I'm not like bemoaning this, but money is the driving force behind it all. And so if you have more access to it than anybody else, so it's like anything else in life, we kind of figure eventually you're going to figure it out, right? Like, you cannot keep screwing it up time and time again. And so, I mean, look, LSU was awful at the football,
Starting point is 00:20:14 at the football was awful at the football for like the entire 90s. And then they hired the right guy and Nick Saban. And he awoke a literal slumbering giant that has not really gone to sleep since. And I guess that would be a bit of the fear of an A&M is, I feel, and maybe I'm wrong. I feel like they have all that potential. They just need someone to unlock it. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Oxens shop, do you, do you think right now, for us. Are we get to the chat? Do you think that they will eat a hundred plus million dollars next year? Because that's what they would have to do. They'd have to pay. I know, dude. I can't. I cannot. I cannot see it. I cannot see it. I mean, I know Auburn. Auburn, what? Auburn's price that got up to like 70 something I want to say to make the switch. And I mean, hey, if they could do it, what are you? price of the word is going through the roof. Yeah. That's true to pandemic. Yellowwood was popping. Everybody's doing protests at home. I mean, what are you going to do, dude? Yeah. So I don't think so, Aaron. I think this is probably all much to do about nothing in terms of coaching change. But you know,
Starting point is 00:21:27 it sucks. They probably do have the full assistant clean out coming, which sucks for the assistance. And that's always such a brutal red flag that stuff is not going to work out in the end. Like, it's very rare that the coordinator firing ends up getting it done. But we'll see. Ox and the shop team, I'd be looking and sounding a little better than you did Saturday night. Yeah, fair, man. Slip seven hours Saturday, six hours last night. I am feeling chipper today. Parker Horton, A&M is a smog of college football hoarding on the golden city inside a castle.
Starting point is 00:21:57 We're getting outsmarted by Hobbiton Dwarves, Abstate, South Carolina. That's my favorite comment we've ever had on this show, Parker. Great job. All right. Now let's get to Clemson. As we continue the Monday, let's shit on everybody who makes us angry show. Clemson beats our cues boys. Lucky to do so.
Starting point is 00:22:19 I feel you, Aaron, lucky to do so. And there's a bunch of different ways you could start this conversation. I want to start here. I just don't think, and this is why I get so angry, and I'm yelling that I do not want Clemson in the playoff whatsoever, especially like I would take a one-loss conference champion out of any of the other power four over an undefeated Clemson. Because I just don't think they're a very good.
Starting point is 00:22:43 good team relative to the other big dogs, right? And what sucks is I think relative to the rest of the ACC, they are. Like they are just more physically talented than every other team that they're seeing on a weekly basis. And it's just not fair, quite frankly. And they underperform out of their talent, which makes me angry. They don't, I don't feel as if they're getting the most of them right now either. So they're basically like someone that's been held back for two years, just bullying kids on the school playground. Well, what happens when the 15-year-old has to play with other 15-year-olds? Okay?
Starting point is 00:23:20 He's going to get knocked around. And I feel a little bad for DJU because he's not been awful this year. I think he's kind of a bit of a scapegoat for an overall team that isn't just as good as they are used to being as of recently. But it just makes me mad how they are clearly more talented the rest of the ACC, which is very weak. And yet they still might skate by without being. I don't think one of the top five teams of the country. Well, I mean, you're talking about skating through the rest of their season, too. They're at Notre Dame.
Starting point is 00:23:51 And I know someone in the chat was saying, oh, Notre Dame's going to beat them in two weeks. No chance. Notre Dame's offense is atrocious. I know it's at home, but I look for more the under on that football game, if anything. So I think they win that game. They got Louisville. They got Miami. And then South Carolina at home, fingers crossed that South Carolina can win that football game.
Starting point is 00:24:10 But once again, Clemson is the better roster. but we'll see if them gamecocks can make it happen. And then after that, most likely going to play North Carolina in the ACC championship game. It just sucks. It really does because you said it to the schedule is horrific. The competition in the ACC is terrible. And there are much deserving teams.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Like right now, I would say if Oregon went 12 and won the PAC 12, I would much rather an Oregon team that has gotten so much better this season since that loss first Georgia, if they win in that conference, so they've been in UCLA, they've been in Utah, they've won some other big time games, they won the Pact 12 championship against USC, Utah, or UCLA most likely, way more deserving to go on and be in the playoffs compared to an undefeated Clemson team. So is it going to happen most likely not? But I would say right now you put those two teams on a neutral site, I would pick Oregon to win that football game. And if the committee's job is to put the best four teams, the most competitive
Starting point is 00:25:10 teams on the final four, then they need to really evaluate what Clemson has looked like this year and also what what competitions Clemson has faced also in the ACC, which is once again not been very good. But when it comes to quarterback controversies at Clemson, you know, DJU got benched this weekend for Clubnik. I don't think there is a quarterback controversy. I don't see I don't see dabble making a change during the off week and all of a sudden Clubmick's going to be the quarterback versus Notre Dame. I think right now he understands, hey, our schedule's pretty light.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And DJU has played, I would say, well this year. Ever since that Wake Forest game, you know, Wake Forest and you take away this past weekend's game versus a very good Syracuse defense, he's had 12 touchdowns to one interception. That's first Wake Forest. That's first NC State. That's first BC. That's first Florida State. So the only issue I have right now, which is quite hilarious, actually.
Starting point is 00:26:08 I don't know if you heard it, but Davos comments after the game comparing DJU to Steph Curry. Where it's like, oh, even Seth Curry has an off night, you got to put him on the bench for a little bit. Like, let's not compare DJU to the greatest three-point shooter of all time. Like that is a major, major stretch.
Starting point is 00:26:27 I agree he needed to be benched. I even think, too, I mean, look at this weekend, I thought you could have probably benched you or Zer at Texas. It just was one of those days where it wasn't working for DJ. and it's not like club club nick came in there and let the world on fire he benefited from some pretty bad calls and really didn't do anything going to for four for uh in his playing time over the weekend so uh dj you will be the starting quarterback versus nor dame the thing that that i will bring up
Starting point is 00:26:54 is if he does play poorly there in the first half then i think his is his leash is a lot shorter than maybe it was six seven days ago yes yes i agree with you there but again that's why i called DJ uh, uh, you and Gala, a scapegoat in all of this is that, I mean, if we're just being objective, 64% completion, 17 touchdowns, four picks. Okay. Then the numbers are fine. I mean, I'm not going to say that the numbers are as good as they read there, but they are fine. And Kate, Kate, K. Klobick, Clubnick's numbers on the year, Aaron, nine of 19 for 85 yards and one touchdown. I mean, I get it. Small sample size. But it's not like He came in and led the comeback the other day.
Starting point is 00:27:39 Like you said, was it two of four? Yes, two of four times. No, the problem with Clemson, again, I'm not talking out of both sides of my mouth, but I am threading an interesting needle where what I'm telling you is they're not as good as the championship Clemson teams that they're kind of being put, you know, that they're being judged against, but they are still much better than the, than the most of the ACC. And so it's got them in this weird, middle. ground and everybody's just pointed at DJ you and be like, oh, it's his fault.
Starting point is 00:28:10 But no, that's not quite the case. I just, I'm just down on the ACC as a whole right now. You all know this. What up, everybody? Aaron, anything else on Clemson before we move on and talk a little talk a little Bo Knicks and the ducks, dude. No, no, no. I think who was in the chat? Just going to chat real quick. Golly, where did I miss that? We just got the chat so lively today. You see it for one second it's gone the next uh shout out to ever said south carolina will be the heroes of college football if they win oh yeah Parker horton there you go parker okay okay actually i i agree uh brum are you there can you hear me sure sure and what's up buddy okay i'm about to make you
Starting point is 00:30:23 probably a pretty bad contract on air yeah okay is he pretty bad for your point air that's a good point but hey i've done a lot of radio And I've had a lot of producers through the years. And sometimes it feels awful because you can tell those kids don't give a damn about what you talk about. I'm like, oh, I'm sorry. Am I boring you right now? Anyway, personal random side. From legally binding contract, we need to make merch that says snaps loves Cox in order to get pumped up for the for these South Carolina Clems a game.
Starting point is 00:30:59 I know we're making merch right now. Snaps loves Cox. And it could be like a picture of like Beamer with the. sunglasses on or something or maybe like a giant rooster with like the sunglasses on and some like big bulging biceps or something. The point is coctober's in full swing. Shout out, Pate. That's a Josh Pate thing to Cocktober.
Starting point is 00:31:16 I think it's wonderful. And yes, they beat A&M, which we all love. But if they beat Clemson, that will be their true hero moment. All right. Coming up. Okay, let's get into Bownecks. because Oregon now looks like they are the toast of the PAC 12, especially given the fact that their only loss is to an excellent UGA team
Starting point is 00:31:41 at the very beginning of the year. They've only got better since. And even though none of us have been paying too much attention, maybe until they just handled UCLA this weekend, Bo Nix has getting getting more and more fantastic throwing five touchdowns against UCLA. And what was at first a close game? It wasn't like they just came over and like rolled.
Starting point is 00:32:01 him from the beginning, like it was frisky for a minute, which, which gives me reasonably that Oregon's like, you know, but this, you know, nothing fluky about this. It wasn't like Tennessee LSU where the game got just out of hand early or whatever. Like, no, no, Oregon handled them top to bottom. And it was Bo Nix's five touchdowns. Is Bo Nix going to enter the Heisman conversation, Aaron? I, I think so. And I would not be afraid to put him in there either. I mean, the one benefit for him is you can make the excuse week one you're playing essentially in george's backyard in atlanta dan landing's first game is a head coach and and he struggled he struggled my only two interceptions but since then bow knows and bow's been kicking some butt 17 touchdowns
Starting point is 00:32:46 which at this point the season early on the season still about midway is more touchdowns than he ever had in any season as a starting quarterback at alburn um 71 percent completion is also 10 percent higher completion than any season there at Auburn as well. So he's playing with a lot of confidence, only one interception since that Georgia game. And then five games, he's had over 70% completion, two games over 80%. So stat-wise, it's there. You throw in that 17 touchdowns with another eight touchdowns on the ground. And then you also make the case that the PAC 12 this year is extremely competitive,
Starting point is 00:33:21 which it is. You know, from Oregon, the USC to UCLA to Utah. This is a very, very good conference. It is a competitive conference. And if you can win out, so you win obviously the big game versus UCLA, you beat Utah, and then in the Pac-12 championship, most likely you're going to have to play. I would think based on the fact that Utah lost UCLA, most likely USC or UCLA in that game, another ranked win for them.
Starting point is 00:33:48 And then you're in the conversation to be in the playoffs as well. So if he looks like that and is throwing three or four plus touchdowns continues to have over 70, percent completion percentage. Yeah, he's going to be in the conversation. And a lot has to do with there's not a lot of other guys out there right now in the conversation. You know, there's maybe three or four guys out there that are legitimate contenders to be in New York at the end of the year.
Starting point is 00:34:14 So it's not like we have this huge list to kind of debate about. I think he really threw his name in the ring after this weekend's performance. And I've always been a fan of Bo Nix. There's no question of his. talent arm strength athleticism the only issue i've had and what a lot of people have had is bo nicks playing in big time games can he perform when the lights are brightest and maybe this was finally his moment to kind of get over that hurdle and and play big in a big time game and enter that conversation but man congrats man the kick kick some ass this weekend so i thought
Starting point is 00:34:53 you're about say you've always been a fan of big nicks and that's very funny sounding um As far as Bonex goes, when you started talking, I didn't, because like my whole take on this was simply that, and I want to talk about his story because I love his story. But before that, like, I just kind of feel like there's probably just too many better candidates out there from where we sit right now. I mean, C.J. Stroud definitely statistically is going to be the hardest to catch. And it looks like he may just cruise to a big 10 championship and undefeated. We all know that. But what Doug in and TCU is doing right now, where he to maintain, he would finish. head of Nix. Obviously, Hinden Hooker,
Starting point is 00:35:29 we've already kind of laid out the math. Eric convinced me the other day, if Hinton Hooker beats Georgia, he's at plus 200. Yeah, if Hennon Hooker beats Georgia, I'm not so sure that he doesn't kind of win it on the spot. As we said, like even if he would go on to lose in the SEC
Starting point is 00:35:45 championship, he'd still have a great chance. And then, and then Aaron, that doesn't even get into the your other Dark Horse pick, Blake Corum, who, you know, don't look now. National lead. I think Blake or CJ. I think touchdowns. Yep.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Well, Blake or CJ are going to knock one of, what, what each other out. That, that's, that's, that's the difference. Yeah. Right. Okay. But, but, but those are still, but those are still two names that I think are eligible and ahead of him. I would say 100%.
Starting point is 00:36:12 And then Doug. Right now. And, and go ahead. Do you have any other names to add that list? No. I mean, if you go on Fando, I think they got it pretty right for their top six with CJ Stroud plus 100, head and hooker plus 200. Caleb Williams, I think it's still in it.
Starting point is 00:36:26 you know my yeah I kind of forget who would win the pack 12 like who we more comfortable winning the pack 12 I think that that that that would answer that question of who would you rather put your money on
Starting point is 00:36:36 if you think Oregon is a better team than USC then I would put my money on Bo Nix because I think winning a conference championship goes a long way so you know I like those odds better at plus 4,000 for Bo Nix compared to plus you know
Starting point is 00:36:49 $1,200 for Caleb Williams and USC with my process of thinking that I think I think Oregon has more of a shot right now based on their schedule to even make it to the Pack 12 championship and to win the Pack 12 championship. Bryce Young for how great he is, probably is not going to win it back to back years. And then like I said, CJ Stroud and Blake Corum, one of them is going to get knocked out based on what happens in the Ohio State versus Michigan game at the end of the season. So that's really your top six right now on Fandall.
Starting point is 00:37:18 And at plus 4,000 odds, you know, I kind of like him over Bryce. I kind of like him over Blake and I kind of like him over Caleb Williams. knowing that I would think those three get knocked out because they don't win their conference championship. Well, it is interesting, right? The same way that Nebraska is the best three and nine team of all time, Bo Nix may be the best plus 4,000 Heisman bet of all time. Like, you're right. To be plus 4,000, the path is not too crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:46 But those odds still tell you it probably is also a bit undoable. But here's a problem. I don't want to make this about, look, look, I'm just saying the odds are, If hit and hook or lose it to Georgia, then he's out. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for sure. But does the Quavius come back in some way? Look, I know, uh, and, and okay, and my, my main counter argument against the next winning was going to be the numbers, but I heard you mentioned his rushing
Starting point is 00:38:13 touchdowns. I didn't realize that was that high. And right now, if you look, uh, for total touchdowns in the country, C. J. Stroud's first at 28, Boenix is fifth at 25 and none of the other names in between really matter. right? It's Austin Reed from Western Kentucky. It's Dayquan Finn from Toledo. And then it's Drake from May from UNC, who we all like to watch play, but it's not going to win the highsman. So there's a number of arguments. But I don't want to talk about what Bo Nix is not going to do or can't do because I love his story.
Starting point is 00:38:42 He had a ton of pressure going to him at Auburn as someone else who has been a beneficiary of nepotism and all the good and the bad that comes along with that. he goes to Auburn. He has a resume there with his father being a former Auburn Tiger Corbeck. And by the end of it, he's essentially run out. And despite starting for freshman year on, he never really does anything that good while he's there. Well, then he goes to try to find his fortune in Oregon. He gets run out of the stadium week one against Georgia.
Starting point is 00:39:14 He's being called Bowdo Picks, Boe Licks, Bo Dix, Boe Dix, Boe, everything. I mean, the nicknames go on and on. And all he did was keep, working and now he is being rewarded. He has been fantastic since that Georgia game. His team's been fantastic. They're 8 and 1. They look like they could win the Pac 12. Like I don't care if Bo Nix doesn't win the Heisman. This is still just a really impressive and inspiring performance from Bo Nix, resurrecting his career and showing you, you know what? Maybe I wasn't the problem. Maybe I wasn't
Starting point is 00:39:48 put in the best position to succeed. What happens when you put me in a better position? I'm I'm a much better player than you thought. No, he definitely was not the problem at Auburn. I mean, if you go back and watch the tape from last season, their receivers were atrocious. And they actually fired the receiver coach middle of the season because of how bad they were. I mean, they had, they had no elite talent at all anywhere. And Bo had to be, we saw the moments he created throughout the year with his legs,
Starting point is 00:40:15 extending plays. Obviously, he just eventually ran out. He got hurt. But there was, there was very little talent from a skill position besides the running back to really assist bow. No, no offense line. Offens line was atrocious, receivers were atrocious. So yeah, he's in a better situation.
Starting point is 00:40:30 You don't have to face SEC defenses week and week out. You got better talent around you. Probably one of the better rosters in the PAC 12. It was a smart decision for him to get out of that, you know, that pressure that was put on him fairly or unfairly there at Auburn. Get a fresh start, better team, better roster, not as difficult of a path to success. So kudos for him. And kudos to him, too, for kind of putting back and pushing off and shrugging off that lost to Georgia.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Because there's a lot of quarterbacks and a lot of people that, you know, get their ass kicked week one. And the narrative continues of, oh, Bo Nix can't do this. Bo Nix can't do that. And you kind of go into a shell. But, I mean, that just shows you his maturity, man. He's a kid that's played a lot of football. He's now a four-year starter. And I want to put that first game all on his show.
Starting point is 00:41:21 shoulders either man once again dan lennan's first game as a head coach there's a lot of things that just were not going well for oregon in that football game versus georgia the offense for georgia was was electric so i i don't think it's crazy that we are having this conversation for for a multitude of reasons stats and a clear path to the pactal championship you have those two things you're going to be in the conversation yeah and let's be clear again that total touchdown 25 total touchdowns That's ahead of Max Duggan, Caleb Williams. Like, the only one ahead of him, C.J. Stroud. And whatever.
Starting point is 00:41:58 C.J. Stroud's probably going to win it. Right. Like, at the end of the day, that's probably going to happen. But Nix has been awesome. Right now, let's talk about who was awesome and not awesome over the weekend as we do a little snips and snaps. And you get it. Snips bad.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Snap is good. I'm going to start with a bad one, Aaron. I'm going to start with a snip. And I'm sniffing. Team snaps. Okay, I'm sniffing ourselves. Uh, because once again, we, it just made, once again, we talked our way into Texas, dude. I even said it the other day, I could see Lucy holding the football. I could see it in front of my face a million times before. She's, she's told me, no, I'm going to keep, I'm just kick the ball, Charlie, Bob. I swear to you, I'm going to hold the
Starting point is 00:42:49 ball here. I'm not going to just kick the ball. And I knew it in my soul. I knew it in my balls, Aaron and I still I still convinced myself that Texas was good and they were going to cover. And I give you full permission. If I ever give myself over to Texas once again, even if you're a stranger in the street, I will allow you to physically assault me. You're allowed to walk up and open face slap me so that I never make this mistake again. It's unreal how I continuously fall for this song and dance. And now we're right back to where we were a couple of weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:43:24 We're talking about Texas being like internally broken. So no, snip on myself and team snaps for giving ourselves over to the long horns, too. Yeah, man. And Quinn Ewers, you talk about DJ you getting bench. I mentioned this early in the show. I mean, I think for his sanity, they probably should have bench DJ yours in that football game or not DJ Ewers. He looked like DJ Ewers. He's going to be dubbed D.
Starting point is 00:43:46 DJ Ewers, I forget his point before it. Quinn Ewers, you got, you got all. You were young. Yeah. Oh, those two. You do not want to be in the same sense as DJ you, Quinn, yours. And that's where you are right now on my shit list. So we'll start with my first snip, too,
Starting point is 00:44:03 since we're going to start the day off negative here on the Monday. Mississippi State playing at Alabama, major snip. I'm going to go through the past four games that they've had to go to Tuscaloosa. 2016, they lost 51 to 3. 2018, lost 24 nothing. 2020, lost 41, nothing. And then 2022, they lost yesterday the other day, 30 to 6. And they scored literally as the clock was running out.
Starting point is 00:44:28 Didn't even kick an extra point because the game was over. So they've had nine points, probably really legitimately three points in the past four games there at Tuscaloosa. So luckily next year they're not at Tuscaloosa. But if the trend continues, people take Alabama covering in 2024. That's my first lock of the 2024 season. Alabama will cover versus Mississippi State at home. Man, and now you're just reminding me. I wish I would have done a snaps for the Mike Leach answer after the game
Starting point is 00:45:02 where he was talking about not using your hands and losing them evolutionarily like dinosaurs did. It's a fantastic answer. Okay, my first snap. Allow me to be a bit of a homer, Aaron Murray, as I want to snap Jaden Daniels. This is a man just a couple of weeks ago that threw for 85 yards against Auburn, missed a ton of throws against Tennessee. It looked like he had some really happy feet. I was ready to bench him as a lot of local conversation was. And yet now, number five, the quarterback for LSU, Jadenials.
Starting point is 00:45:40 He's been incredible the last two games, man, 762 total yards and 11 touchdown. Five to the air, six in the ground, while completing 73% of his passes, not a single turnover in there to the very high usage rate that's being asked to run the ball lot. You nailed it air and a lot of quarterback designed runs this last game. He's been a consistent red zone threat. All the intangibles that I liked from earlier in the year
Starting point is 00:46:08 in terms of toughness, in terms of playing at his best when plays needed to be made, are now being reinforced by actual good decision-making and accurate throws and trust in your receivers. And so now you have JD Daniels with 11 touchdowns against Florida in the swamp And then a top 10 Ole Miss at home That's the type of momentum I want when I got Alabama come to town a couple of weeks Just a hell of a two-game stretch for JD 5
Starting point is 00:46:33 All right, I'm gonna go I'm gonna get my snips out of the way my next snip goes to It's hard for me to say this one because you know it you don't see a lot of snips But for Lord Sabin here Nick Saban big snip for coach Sabin and his comments about Jermaine Byrne. So Jermaine Byrne for those who didn't see a week ago in the loss of Tennessee, fans are charged in the field. Jermaine Byrne put his hands on a female hitter in the face. And Saving came out and said he was scared for his life during the moment
Starting point is 00:47:06 and was not going to suspend him for any amount of time this past weekend versus Mississippi State. I thought this was a really bad move by Nick Sabin. to send that message that he was okay with what happened there after the game. And you go back and you watch the tape. I'm sure a lot of you have seen it by now. But there was not a moment where you felt like his life was threatened. Yes, it was a crazy situation. But it's like the girl was in his face.
Starting point is 00:47:34 She probably said something, but that gives you no right ever to lay your hands on a female. You're a football player. You got pads on. that is a awful excuse for Nick Sabin to make sure that one of his best players was on the field this weekend versus Mississippi State. I thought this was a moment for him to send a message to Byrne, to send a message to his football team that I will not tolerate this type of action. It was a frustrating loss. I get it. But never, ever is there an excuse unless your life is legitimately threatened that you put your hands on a woman?
Starting point is 00:48:08 So big snip for Nick Sabin on playing Germain 1. and to his comments after the game of why he allowed him to play. Well, and it's not the only person he hit. He had another person with the exact same open hand slap. But I mean, I did tell you, remember we talked about this last week? We said that this was going to be the defense angle, right? Like regardless of whether or not we believe to be true, it's like plausible enough. And in that scenario makes sense, well, you know what?
Starting point is 00:48:36 You know what? I hope, I hope Jermaine Burton gets a chance to repeat his mistake in a couple of weeks, right and maybe he'll actually get punished this time around um okay my next snip don't like it at all oregon's uniforms over the weekend dude i mean these things are hideous these are absolutely all oh but teabob oh it's breast cancer awareness month look i get it i get it okay and and and there were just better ways to do this right because if anyone could have made pink work to the best degree it would have been Oregon I just I hate this shade of pink it reeks of uh it just reeks of like like hot topic or or or cheap collode it just gives me bad
Starting point is 00:49:26 vibes to begin with um I don't like it in combo with the yellow highlighter if any Aaron you know what I need somebody do if you really hate breast cancer prove it I want all pink uniforms. I want pink helmets, jersey, shoes, socks. Like, I'm talking pink head to toe, maybe with like some white trim, however else you want to do it. I want all pink uniforms next year out of Nike. Look like a peptobismal bottle run around out there. We'll really see how much you hate breast cancer. Instead, your uniforms are so ugly. I'm now wondering if Oregon supports breast cancer and wants to fight against where I'm not sure. That's what people are saying. these uniforms are awful, dude.
Starting point is 00:50:09 They're awful. You like those. I don't hang up. I love the messaging. I love the messaging. Is that the Tampa in you? Is that the Tampa in you? It just reminds you of home that hot shade of pink.
Starting point is 00:50:20 So Daniel Basham says, what's wrong with hot topic? Don't behave on a hot topic, bro. All right. Let me get my one snap of the day. So I can end this show on some positivity. I'm going to go to Ohio State's defense. Number two defense in the Big Ten. No, they haven't played anyone.
Starting point is 00:50:38 And I know they just got done beating Iowa. But I think the big concern was Iowa was so bad on offense that if Ohio State doesn't play well on that side of the football, are they that good? And is this the whole? But no, they dominated. Only give up 158 yards total. Only three points. That's seven points to make it 10 was Iowa scoring on the defense side of the football. So this Ohio State defense is really and truly much improved.
Starting point is 00:51:06 from a season ago, which is scary because we compare them to say Tennessee, because they're two of the best offenses in America. I would say you can throw both equal offenses, that they're both elite on a great quarterbacks, can run the football, great talent on the outside. They're the best, the best, the best. The difference is defense. And I will say Ohio State's defense is far superior than what Tennessee has on that side of the football.
Starting point is 00:51:30 So right now, this is why I continue to have Ohio State as my number one team in the country, is because they at the moment are the most complete team in the country, playing well on offense and also playing well on the defensive side of the football as well. So big shout out to Ohio State that defense as they keep rolling this season. Look, if you're going to snap my snip, allow me to snip your snap. You cannot give any defense credit for anything done in a game featuring Brian Forens. Okay, that is, that should be illegal in college football, take them that counts. We award you nothing.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Good day, sir. I'm going to start yelling to you like Willie Walker. If that Ohio State, D.C. came in looking for an add-a-boy. Nah, you get nothing. Get the hell out of here right now, dude. Do it against somebody who has a pulse. You essentially just ran up to a dead body and kicked it in the ribs. We're like, look at what I did.
Starting point is 00:52:27 You did nothing. Get the hell out of here. Might have snap. Shane Beam. Shane Beamer and the Cox, too. We didn't get to talk about as much as much as one, but ranked 25, um, winning on the road to Kentucky. At home, we can say in Amic, convincing fashion, should beat Mazoo this weekend.
Starting point is 00:52:43 If you do, you move to six and two. The team's improved. It's grown. South Carolina traditionally is like the worst place to win ever. Yeah, I think Shane Beamer is doing a hell of a job. And then also kind of like, I know this isn't Beamer, but Max Olson from the athletic had a great point. Think about this. These are first year coaches who had great weekends.
Starting point is 00:53:05 Dan Lane in Oregon, Sunday Dikes at TCU, Brian Kelly at LSU, Mike Elko and Duke beat Miami, Cahill and DeBore, Washington moves to six and two after meeting Cal, Texas Tech and Joy McWire, blowout Western Jr. 48. Jim Leonard beats Purdue, 35, 24. Like, if you're a first year coach
Starting point is 00:53:22 and you're not named Mario Cristobal, you had a very good weekend. Not you, Maro. You're a snip. because did you see the Duke players horns down in the U? Love that. That's bad, man. And then they also like, you lose to Duke.
Starting point is 00:53:39 You got blown out of your own building, which is not a great place to play for home games in the first place. 45 to 21 against Duke. That has to be pretty close to an all-time low for Miami. I mean, I don't know what's worse. Actually, I guess it is. losing to middle Tennessee state at home is pretty bad. No, but I, but I feel you in a way, Duke is worse, especially when they're taking the
Starting point is 00:54:08 you and snapping it over their knee as they go into the end. Oh, dude. Like how, how the mighty have fallen, but a shade of their former empire. All right, we got to go. Aaron Murray, thank you so much, man. As always, have a great show today. It's huge thank you to Ryan Brumley, our excellent and fearless producer. huge thank you to Fandau for making this all happen. Signed up,
Starting point is 00:54:30 Fandall Sportsbook app, promo code snaps. Catch us on AMP at noon tomorrow.
