Daniel Cormier REACTS to Jake's CALLOUT of Francis, and explains why h...e's going to get knocked out by Francis. DC says that despite lasting more rounds against Joshua than Ngannou did, it was only because of style differences in the boxing ring. But we have guys now on this team who are playing in Europe, who are playing in the top-flight leagues, and our national team has a lot of expectation going into the tournament this summer. We expect to do well.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Being the host country, obviously, we qualified automatically, but I feel with the team that we have now, we would have qualified anyways. It's that good. Obviously, Argentina's tough, England's tough, Spain's tough, Germany's tough, Those are like the favorites, but we as a national team finally feel like we can at least compete with the best teams in the world. I remember when we made the quarterfinals.
Starting point is 00:04:16 I went to San Jose Park and was a part of one of those watch parties because that even drew me in. I mean, we have not had the most success in these tournaments. But in that moment, it filled me with national pride that. made me want to tap in. And I didn't even know anything or have any interest in soccer at that time. Now that I'm interested, I'm all the way locked in. The first game we played Paraguay at SoFi, I'm in there. I'm already in there. They got games happening in Santa Clara, which is only about 45 minutes away from my house. So I'm tapped in. I'm locked in. And I'm also going to be tapped in with our friends at Hard Rock Bet. And it's happening in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, North America. It don't get no better. And I feel like we as a country, the United States team, they have a pretty good team. And I feel we have a pretty good draw to get us into the knockout stages where anything can happen. Hey, you just got to be better on one night. We don't have to be able to beat England and Spain and in Argentina every night. We've got to to be able to beat them one time.
Starting point is 00:06:06 And miracles happen in tournaments. And the United States and the North America is hosting one of the biggest ones of all time. And I cannot wait. So go to Hard Rock Bet app, go and do everything, get a part of it, be a part of what will be the greatest tournament of all time. Payable and bonus bets is not a cash offer. Starting point is 00:07:03 call 1-800 gambler. Daniel! Happy New Year, ladies and gentlemen. Today's episode is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down. Guys, it's New Year's Eve, and I'm feeling fancy.
Starting point is 00:07:27 It's cold outside. I put on my thick jacket. Look, I got the Anderson North, beautiful little, the material is crazy. I'm feeling good out of here today. But it's 40 degrees in the Bay Area. But let me tell you something. It gets hot when you start talking Jake Paul.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Because like him or not, Jake Paul got a little something with him. Now, Jake Paul just got his head bashed in by Anthony Joshua. Right? That was about as big a learning lesson that anyone could have been taught. Here's the problem. Jake Paul is proven to be.
Starting point is 00:08:08 he's proving to be one hard-headed two more bold and brave than anyone could have ever imagined now bold and brave because he fought anthony joshua to begin with bold and brave because they didn't put any things in place to make sure anthony didn't do exactly what he did to him broke his jaw in multiple places got him sucking out of straw it would seem like his bold and brave attitude really cost him. And with that bold and brave attitude, a lot of times come cowardice after. Not Jake Paul.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Not Jake Paul. You can love him. You can hate him. But he's brave. And now he's still trying to fight. I would have thought, I swear to God, guys. I would have thought that after what happened
Starting point is 00:08:57 when Anthony Joshua, Jake Paul would say, okay, let me rematch Anderson or somebody. Anderson, by the way, that if he had hit Jake Paul the way he hit Tyron Woodley the other day, would have knocked him out. because that's the Anderson Silva, we know.
Starting point is 00:09:10 But you would have thought that Jake Paul would go, you know what, I'm going to rematch Anderson. Maybe I'll go find another mixed martial arts guy that's a little bit over the hill to try to fight where it's more safe. And it's a more controlled environment because the problem with the Anthony Joshua fight is it wasn't controlled.
Starting point is 00:09:28 It was just a fight. So that's not Jake Paul, though. He immediately goes back after Francis and Ghana. him. It's crazy to me. Now, I've asked people in Francis's circle, why didn't they take the fight? Nobody really knows why. But I believe that after Anthony Joshua took the fight, Francis may be more open to fighting Jake Paul now. I think when I try to put myself in Francis's shoes, because if you recall, in the very beginning of Jake Paul was calling me and saying, talking about me, Part of the reason I was so upset was because I didn't feel like he deserved to be speaking my name because of all I had done. And I still viewed him in a certain light at the time, right?
Starting point is 00:10:22 Like celebrity boxing and stuff. But after watching what he's done now and Anthony Joshua taking the fight and making the money, maybe Francis, if he was sharing the thought that I had, is more open. to now going, man, maybe I won't make $80 million like Anthony Joshua, but I may make 20, 30, and it's less dangerous than fighting Tyson Fury or fighting Anthony Joshua because for as small as Jake looked against Anthony, he'll look equally as small against Francis and Gunn. But I think what's happening with Jake is he's wanting to show that Anthony, He did not scared into him, which in reality he probably should have knocked a little scared into him.
Starting point is 00:11:13 He's also doing like MMA or boxing math, right? He said, I told everyone that I would do better than Francis and Francis has no chin. Francis is low-key soft. I'll fight Francis. Wow, that's a good idea, actually. So now he's like all in on Francis, but he's doing that by doing MMA math. There were a lot of differences in that fight, right? A lot of differences in the fights between them two.
Starting point is 00:11:43 One, Francis didn't run the whole time. Jake did. Francis wasn't on his bike because Francis is 6-4-6-5 and believes that there isn't a man alive that could take him out. That's why he got taken out, especially after fighting Tyson Fury in the way that he did and dropping Tyson Fury the way that he did in their fight. It gave him a false sense of confidence. I think Jake Paul knew that he needed to go longer than Francis,
Starting point is 00:12:11 but also knew he didn't have the ability to put Anthony Joshua out. I do believe that if Francis hit Anthony as clean as Jake did a couple times, he could have potentially put him down. But not only do I believe that, Francis did. And that made him stand in the fight more than he should have, especially in hindsight when we know what happened. And it's an experience show. But for Jake to say Francis has no chin,
Starting point is 00:12:36 When Joshua hit him with the first real right hand, he put him down. He put him down just like he put Francis down. There is no difference. So I think this confidence is once again misguided. You don't, you don't, you don't call out of Francis and Gaunt unless you're certain you can go with him. Hey, it's us to Jonas brothers. And guess what? We have some big news.
Starting point is 00:13:04 What's the news? Huge news. we created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
Starting point is 00:13:18 But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:39 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30. You shouldn't have to share one with anybody. Mm-hmm. From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all. all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them?
Starting point is 00:14:36 Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food. Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. They're practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild math.
Starting point is 00:15:05 suburbian dad, but secretly he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No, I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success. Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
Starting point is 00:15:45 That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you're. you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job.
Starting point is 00:16:37 I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:09 The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected.
Starting point is 00:17:47 We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. One, I don't think he can hurt him. I just don't know that he can hurt Francis like he thinks he can hurt Francis.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Many people thought Anthony Joshua had no chin because of what Andy Ruiz did to him. Turns out, he's got a decent chin. He's got a pretty good chin. And Andy Ruiz just hits hard. He's a real boxing heavyweight. Jake landed like three massive overhand rights. Anthony Joshua just looked at him and kind of kept pressing him. It's the same thing that would happen with Francis.
Starting point is 00:18:35 God, keeps calling Francis out. And in reality, if people thought there was a world where Anthony could carry him into the later rounds to make it look more competitive, Francis isn't experienced enough to do that. So every throw, every punch will be throwing the intent to knock you out. It's like Deonté Wilder. It's why I didn't want Francis to fight Deonté Wilder. because Diartei Walter does not have that control to carry you.
Starting point is 00:19:06 People say, Connor may have carried Floyd may have carried Connor. Floyd has that ability. He's that good a boxer. He's clean. He's technical. He can fight you in multiple ways. But when you get to these certain guys,
Starting point is 00:19:19 they can't because all they know is one thing. That's the danger in the Jake Paul Francis and Gano fight. It's only knockout for Big Frank. he won't pull punches Tyson Fury may not have taken Francis as serious as he should have and that's why he got hit in the way that he got hit
Starting point is 00:19:41 and dropped in the way that he got dropped. Francis don't know Jake. Francis doesn't know how to control and make sure the punches don't put your lights off. But this whole idea that I lasted longer than Francis and Ghanu, it was
Starting point is 00:19:59 Francis could have ran ran, right? Francis could have moved around the ring very well. By the way, which was a massive ring. The ring was as big as any ring I've ever seen in my life. He could have ran around the ring too. What Jake said was, Lois. What Jake said was I did better than Francis because I got knocked out in the sixth round. Louis. As opposed to the same round. This is the great. I got one more. I got one more for you. Francis is a 1500 favorite against Jake Paul early odds And Jake is a plus 600 Of course he is because he's Francis and Ganoo He's Francis and Ganoo
Starting point is 00:20:42 But this is the craziest thought I did better The I did better argument guys does not work It just doesn't It was a massive ring And he was on his bicycle And listen if you can do that for 12 rounds Sure But eventually get tired because there's nothing worse
Starting point is 00:20:59 than running backwards. There's nothing worse than getting backed up with someone putting pressure on you. It's the worst. But minus 1,500 for Francis, plus 600 for Jake. Seems about right.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Now, you could never question the boldness of Jake Paul. You could never question the toughness of Jake Paul. I question the smarts because the money will always come because now he's done that
Starting point is 00:21:25 to a point that people will always respect what he is doing. but that long-lasting damage, that doesn't fade away with time. And I don't know that Jake Paul needs that. He's a big enough star to where I don't think he needs to keep going in there with real heavyweights getting knocked out by these guys. Because Anthony Joshua was big.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And when he looked at him, he looked at his chest, that is exactly what he would look at if he fought Francis and gone. Guys, I think he needs to reconsider. And this is from a person that at one point had an issue with Jake Paul. Today, that's water under the bridge. I actually got more respect for Jake Paul than I ever thought I could because of what he's doing. But in those comments, let me know what y'all think. Should Jake Paul fight Francis?
Starting point is 00:22:13 And if he does, what's the expectation or what's the expected outcome when you guys think of it? Because, hey, Jarzino, Alistair Overeem, Steep Amiochich, all the guys. greatest mixed martial arts heavyweights Francis knocked up telling me that Tyson Fury you put down you're telling me that this kid's going to be able to fight for Anthony Nano because he did better against Anthony
Starting point is 00:22:41 Joshua. M. M.M.A. math does not work and I don't think it works in boxing either. So my working football, basketball, all those other things where you don't have to punch each other but I don't think it works in combat sports. Let me know the comments what you think. Happy New Year guys. I appreciate you. I will see you.
