So Dana White's announcing fights yesterday,
and he announced Carlos Olbert versus Yuri Prohaska
for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.
Look, that's important.
That's a great fight.
We know that Yuri can fight knockout
just by anybody in Light Heavyweight Division
outside of Alex Pereira, who we will get to.
We know that Carlos Olberg has been on an absolute tear.
We know that this is the type of fight that Miami deserves.
Every year Miami gets fantastic fight cards, and this one lives up to it.
And while all that's being said, right, I'm sitting at the state wrestling tournament,
and I'm waiting for this announcement of the fights.
I love the fight.
But immediately, all I can think about is how would they fight for the light heavyweight title when,
wait, Alex is the champion.
Alex just wanted the belt back.
Alex was so mad that he lost it.
He had to go get it back and get it back in dominant fashion.
Then I start putting two or two together.
I see Alex Pereau on the scale the other day.
He weighs 245 pounds.
And I'm like, well, what did they give him?
What are they promising him, right?
To make him say, giving up the belt,
I'm going to do something different.
Here's what's so interesting, right?
Because what Dana did not announce is what's next for Pereira.
But all the clues, when you follow the lines,
they seem to be adding up to something pretty damn big.
Because he's gained all this weight.
He's giving up the belt, which, by the way, guys,
when we think about all the things, right?
Now you know that when someone's chasing another belt,
they don't get to keep their belt.
That's step number one.
That tells me, Alex Burr must be going up, right?
He weighs over 240-something pounds.
Well, that's not abnormal.
We've seen him do that before.
So that's why the initial thing wasn't to jump to, oh, my God, he's going to fight a heavyweight.
We've seen him big before.
We've seen him heavy on the scale before.
Before an Uncle I had fighting was heavy on the scale, went back to 2005.
But then when you give up the belt, Ilya did it.
when he wanted the second belt
last guy
to try to become a double champ was
Volk, I think, when he fought Islam the
first time. I don't think they made him give up
the belt. When Ilya decided
he wanted to go up, gave up the belt.
When Islam decided to go up, gave up the belt.
So is this
officially
Alex Pereira going up
to heavyweight?
Is this officially
Alex Pereira throwing his name
in the hat? We know right
now that the heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, is still dealing with the effects of
of the eye injury. He's still dealing with him. We know that John Jones said that he was retired,
found out about the White House, said that he's coming back. These are all facts. These aren't
things that I'm making up here. These are all facts. John said he's back getting tested. He said
he's there for the White House if they will let him. We know now that Alex Pereira has given
up the light heavyweight title, weighs 245 pounds.
all facts.
You take those facts
and you start to put the puzzle together.
Tom Asper knows out.
Or at least it seems that way.
John Jones is the testing pool.
Alex Pereira weighs 245.
Could we get that fight?
Could we get the fight that we've all been asking for?
Could we get John Jones versus Alex
Pereira?
I thought that the best fight
between the two would be Pereira versus Jones at 205.
But I think what we're seeing is if this fight is to happen,
and I still don't know if it will,
Pereira is just a guy that's going to do anything.
She just is a dog, and he wants to fight the best,
and he'll fight the best at any weight class.
It really is amazing to watch an old school road war,
like that in today's mixed martial arts.
Alex Ferrer is one of those guys that says,
show me the weight, I'll show up, and I'll give you a fight.
Now, maybe I'm selling you a dream.
Maybe it's not John Jones.
But who is it?
Because right now, you just saw a guy in Carlos Oberg,
who's on a long winning streak that could have fought for the belt,
fighting a guy that's a former champion
on light heavyweight. Say it's not Jones
and Aspinall's out. Who
do you put Pereira in there with?
Is it Cyril gone?
Is it Cyril gone?
Because to me, I don't think
it matters who he's fighting.
I think what matters to me
is that Alex Pereira has given
up that belt and it seems
like he's going to fight a heavyweight.
And if he's fighting at heavyweight,
if he's fighting at heavyweight,
I repeat myself,
if he's getting a title opportunity, because again, I don't think, I don't think that Pereira would give up his belt just to go take a fight.
Right?
I don't think a guy just gives up a belt to go take a fight.
So if he is fighting at heavyweight and if he is going to get an opportunity to fight for the heavyweight championship, who is it?
Is it, Jones?
Because like I said, Aspinall's out.
And if it is Cyril Gond, if it is Cyril Gond, how does that sit with you considering what happened in the fight between Cyril and Tom Aspinall?
I don't care who it is, though.
I want to see a guy chase a third title.
We haven't had that.
We haven't had a guy hold a belt in three-way classes.
Pereira is saying right now, I have that opportunity.
Or at least it seems that way.
at least it seems that way because I'm telling you right now as a guy that was a champion
if I was told vacate your belt I would want an absolute guarantee that I would be pursuing
another belt right they always say a bird in the hand a burden a hand a burden of hand a burden
a hand it's better than going to chase but you don't give the one in the hand up to go
and just fight or go and just be out there
right it's got to make sense so when i look at everything when i take the whole picture and
i dream first and i cross my fingers and i wish that it is jones versus perera but i also stay
i also stay cautious in the idea that if it doesn't happen it's someone else and if it is
someone else, it has to be Cyril Ghan, right? Because who else? Who else could there be to fight Alex
Pereira? But big news, that's massive. That's massive. That he's up. That he's 245 pounds. And that he vacated
the championship. Because if you vacated that title, guys, I'm telling you, I believe that he's going to
fight for the world title. Big news is happening. And we're just like, they gave us a little bit
Right. It gave me a little bit.
It got me excited.
But give me the rest.
Let me know what's going on.
Like we're all sitting here as fans of this thing.
And we wanted those fighting for the heavyweight championship.
And man, how bad is Tom Aspiram hurt really?
He must be hurt really, really bad.
Because if I'm the heavyweight champion, I've seen all this going on, I'm like antsy.
I'm like, I want to fight.
I mean, I want to fight.
I'm the champ.
You know?
I'm the champ.
crazy stuff
but what if Pereira wins
and he went to champion the three-week glasses
that is crazy
that's crazy
because this was only supposed to be the guy
that was getting his first title fight
because he had fought Izzy before
this was not supposed to be
this is a crazy story
the Alex Pereira story
guys in the comments
let me know who you think it's going to be
is it going to be Jones or is it going to be gone
I think those are the only two options
until next time peace
