there has been a deal agreed to.
There's, to my knowledge, there hasn't been anything ratified yet, but there has been a deal
agreed to, and we know some of the points.
Let's just jump right into a few of those points.
I will not give a full reaction slash thoughts on this thing until the entire CBA comes out.
There's been bits and pieces coming out.
And I have my thoughts on those bits and pieces, but I do want to know more detail exactly what's going on.
And quite frankly, we find out things on the Internet, just like you all find out things on the Internet.
That is the day and age we live in on the NBA.
So shout out to Sham.
Shout out the Walsh.
Y'all are absolutely incredible at what you do because you get news about the NBA before players get news about the NBA.
and teams and whatever.
So that is that.
There is a new luxury tax apron
preventing teams like the Warriors Clippers and Celtics
from acquiring essentially mid-level talent.
And I think that's absolutely insane.
It's essentially in creating a hard cap in a way.
I think that's going to affect players
more than people realize, or else I don't think that would have been agreed to.
But, yeah, it's essentially creating a hard cap.
So I've heard things about the hard cap over the years and how people want a hard cap,
where there it is and there you go, and there you have it.
I think something that I think is absolutely ridiculous and was not addressed is,
for instance, the Golden State Warriors, as you know,
Def Curry was drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
Clay Thompson drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
Draymond Green, myself, drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
Kavana Looney drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
Jordan Poole drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
What are you talking about, Draymond?
Why are you naming players on...
Well, I'm naming those players because the fact that there is essentially a rule
being implemented to, I mean, essentially destroy what teams haven't been able to accomplish,
I think it's utterly ridiculous.
You talk all of the, over the years, all of these rules have been put in place to Gilbert
Arena's rule, Burr rights, Larry Burr rule with the bird rights, all of these rules to keep players
with their teams.
and then now the Golden State Warriors come along
and essentially dominates the NBA
over the last seven or eight years
and now we're adding rules to try to stop that
because teams can't.
Why are the Golden State Warriors,
Joe Lekup, Bob Myers, a Peter Guber,
why are they not being rewarded for drafting well?
Why are they not being rewarded for,
taking care of the guys that they've drafted and keeping everyone together and with their team,
I think that's ridiculous.
And quite frankly, I think it's lazy.
I think that's something that could have been addressed.
It's another thing that's actually going to take money, more money away from players,
because you just won't be able to pay it.
You won't be able to do it.
And to me, that makes no sense.
So yes, we have a hard cap.
Oh, and by the way, all of you appreciate it while you have it.
The last dynasty you will see in the NBA is here and now to go to state warriors.
We won't see it again.
You may think dynasties are bad for the game.
Quite frankly, I think they're great for the game because guess what?
The only thing you still talk about are dynasties.
Like, you don't talk about some team that won a championship.
Dallas Mavericks, for instance.
Like, Dallas Mavericks won one championship.
Absolutely incredible.
When you talk about Dirk, you speak about that championship.
Because the way Dirk played.
And by the way, shout out to all the OGs that was on the Dallas Mavericks
when they won championship Dirk, J. Kidd, Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler,
the list of Sean Marion.
Like, shout out to all Gs, they champs.
I would never take nothing.
nothing away for a champ from a champ. My point being is they weren't a dynasty. And so when you're
talking about champions, you don't necessarily speak on them first because they weren't a dynasty.
But you know who you do speak on? You speak on the Los Angeles Lakers. You speak on the Chicago Bulls.
You speak on even LeBron days in the Miami, although I don't think they quite built the dynasty,
but we speak on the San Antonio Spurs. Why? Because we speak on
dynasties. That's what's remembered. That's what stands out. And quite frankly, with this new
CBA, um, dynasties are over. There would not be a dynasty. So you all complained about to go
and stay warriors. Oh man, KD came to the warriors and blah, blah, blah, blah. You don't have to deal
with that anymore. But you'll also lose a huge part of the game, a huge part of sports,
which is dynasties being built. So, hey, we're the last dynasty.
I can't complain about that.
I mean, it's ridiculous.
Don't get me wrong.
But, hey, you'll always remember us because we're the last dynasty you'll be able to speak of.
Because of the way this salary cap is set up,
no way the warrior should be punished like a team that has went out and got players.
By the way, Boston Celtics, Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams.
Those are guys that were drafted by the Boston Celtics.
And so, you know, I understand certain situations where teams are going out and, like, getting players in free agencies.
We've clearly decided that there can be separate rules as far as certain teams go.
So why isn't there a separate rule as far as teams drafting guys and being able to keep those guys and then not counting against the luxury tax?
Now, if you want to say, hey, you guys should be penalized for Andrew Wiggins, I can't argue that.
I can't argue that.
Could argue it, but I can't argue.
I won't argue that.
Put it that way.
Because we went out and we traded for Andrew Williams,
although we didn't sign them in free A, so we traded for him.
But I won't argue that.
But I named five guys on this team that are well above minimum salaries
or rookie minimum salaries or whatever that were drafted by the Golden State Warriors.
And yet we are the highest tax team, how does that make sense?
it actually makes none.
And like I said, that is a very lazy thing that I think is done in this CBA.
The 20% increase on extensions has been raised to 40%.
Can't complain about that.
I think it's good.
But I also think there could have been other issues that could have been prioritized
as opposed to trying to get 40% over 20%.
That only helps a.
very select few of guys who signs a contract extension.
Everyone doesn't sign contract extension.
So that'll help you sign, you know, if you sign contract extensions.
I'll take it.
But there are some other things.
65 minimum games for awards.
I can appreciate this and everyone will appreciate this until you got bums on the
all-MBA team and winning awards because someone didn't qualify.
because they missed 10 games at some point of a season with an ankle injury or whatever.
All of a sudden, you don't have Luca Doncher, Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kauai Lennard, Anthony Davis.
The list goes on and on.
All of a sudden, you don't have any of those guys on all NBA teams.
And then what NBA are we represented?
When you look back in history and you got a bum on the all-MBA second team or all-MBA first team
because guys miss some games,
it won't be so appreciated then,
and everybody will be complaining now.
And you know who else will be complaining?
I think owners are going to end up complaining
when they find a bum that they have to give an extension to
that made the NBA team,
and now they come in there asking you for Max and Super Max
and blah, blah, blah, blah,
because they made the NBA team
because guys weren't allowed that played 63 games.
then we'll get the complaining
because you're going to have a guy making $200 million
that produces at an $80 million level
because they made the all-MBA team.
Why?
Because Steph Curry missed some games.
He got injured once, then got injured again,
and made significant amount of games
and both of those injuries this year
and doesn't qualify for our first team all-NBA
or second team or third team,
and y'all paying them bum salaries.
there's always another side to it.
There's always another side to it.
And your team that you support is weak because you've paid a bum $200 million.
There's always another side to it.
This year especially, for example, Janus, the best player in the NBA.
He's currently played 62 games.
He'll probably get to 65.
But if he got to 64, we're going to say Janus wasn't one of the 15 best players in the NBA that season.
And that's where it gets ridiculous.
And so, you know, everybody's complaining about the load management
and all of these different things.
And say Yannis plays 64 games and he doesn't make the all NBA team.
And then say, let's say this will be different in Yonis case
because of years of service.
But let's say Yonis doesn't have the years of service
and then he doesn't qualify for the Supermax with the Milwaukee Bucks.
And then all of a sudden, Yon, it's like, well, forget this.
I'm out of Milwaukee, and I'm going to Los Angeles because that's better for my brand.
And I'm building a production company.
I'm going to New York because that's better for my brand and I'm building a production company.
All of a sudden, it's working against those lower market teams.
Hmm.
Did we process that?
Or did we get so caught up in what talking heads are talking about while trying to do a multi-billion-dollar deal?
and we even got caught up in what talking heads are talking about.
That's another interesting one.
The in-season tournament does not increase the number of games.
Only two teams will play one more game.
That's making 83 games.
I thought, I know when this was first proposed to me for the last two years,
it was a million dollars per pair out and somehow,
$1 million per player.
And somehow it ended up at $500,000 per player.
With all due respect, I say this,
$500,000 is a lot of money.
A lot of money.
Don't get me wrong.
$500,000 is $500,000.
$500,000, however, in the state of California,
once I make $500,000, I'll probably see about $200,000 of that.
$200,000 is a lot of money.
Don't get me wrong.
But $200,000 is not going to force me to play in a game
in October or November
if I think I'm exposing myself to injury.
It's just not.
One million maybe.
Because then I'm taking home about $450,000 after tax.
It's a little different.
But I said all of that to say.
Not so certain.
I'm not sure how that dropped from $1 million to $500,000.
I think that was crazy.
But in saying that,
I don't think is going to force more guys to play
like the idea would be.
I just don't think so.
But that's just me.
Just like you have teams that aren't fighting again
the playoffs because the playoff bonus ain't that much,
you go win a championship,
and the playoff bonus is less than that, by the way.
So we're creating an in-season tournament
that's going to pay you more than winning a championship.
That's crazy.
One big one was players will be able to own minority
shares in teams via the MBPA selected private equity firm.
I think this is a step in the right direction.
Like I think this is a good band-aid.
I think, you know, this, I need to learn more about this.
It hasn't been much details released around this yet.
But I think this is a step in the right direction.
But I hope what comes with this rule is also, you can invest with owners, say,
Like Joe Lekub is building L.A. Live around Chase Center.
Joe Lake up and Peter Goober, they're building L.A. live around Chase Center.
You can invest in that.
I hope that's what comes with this rule because, quite frankly,
team evaluations, the team valuations are so high at this point
that you've kind of missed the boat.
And I'm not saying they won't go on more.
But in order for players, there's only a selection.
field players that can afford to invest at the level that teams are at now.
So I hope this rule isn't just a band-day and doesn't stop guys from investing in outside
things that owners may be.
And I had an opportunity to invest in Stock X at the inception of the company when Stock X was
just an idea.
Shout out to my brother, Sidel Mordale.
I appreciate you, brother.
When Stock X was just an idea on a sheet of paper, I had an opportunity to invest.
I wanted to invest.
I could not invest
because Dan Gilbert
is an owner
of an NBA team.
This was at the heat
of the Cleveland Cavaliers
Warriors battles
so there couldn't have been
any colluding
like Dan's not trying
to do me a favor
although that is
my Spartan brother.
And I couldn't
because Dan was the
lead investor on the deal.
He's leading the deal
and I couldn't invest in it.
That would have been a significant
amount of money for me and we talk about players not going broke but yet we limit the way players
can make money as far as investing and compounding your money goes so i hope this isn't just a
band-aid and we actually can invest in other things that you know um are possible for us to invest in
and and really compound our money that's a big thing i think the owners um of these NBA teams
provide some of the best guidance for you to learn how to compound your money as they are compounding
their money at an extreme rate. And that is important when you get money. It's not just important
that you got the money. How are you now going to compound that money? And some of our best resources
are right in our face and we can't use them. So I hope this just isn't a Band-Aid. And I hope this
rule is actually changing for the better. That's all I'm going to say about the CBA right now,
until everything else comes out and we get all the details.
And then I would share my full thoughts on that.
Moving forward, big game tonight, Thunder versus the Dubs.
We dropped a game the other day that we probably should have won in Denver.
And it was a huge game for us.
And we currently stand at 41 and 38.
The thunders are on the opposite side at 38 and 41.
They're right in the mix of the playing game.
Currently the last team in, but only one game.
ahead of Dallas.
I read something other day
that say Dallas may be considering
shutting Luca and Kyrie down
and trying to get a top 10 pick.
I personally think you
always have a chance
if you have players like Luke and Kyrie.
So I'm not really sure
shutting it down is the right thing,
but if that's what they do,
I respect it.
But I know these young thunder coming in here,
I've been seeing Shay's captions
about to play in and all of that,
so I know they coming in and playing hard
and trying to solidify themselves in their playing tournament.
It's an important game for the dubs.
This is our season finale at home.
So it's important that we close out at home strong,
but also understanding what this does for our playoff chances
or our playoff seating, I would say.
I think this is a very important game for us,
so we need to make sure we come out and take care of home court,
be that we are all tied in the lost column
as far as the dubs, clippers, Pelicans and Lakers.
So a very important game.
You do have games coming up this week where the pelicans.
Pelicans have a tough game coming up this week.
They do have to also go to Minnesota for the very last game of the season.
The Lakers and Clippers have a game coming up this week.
So that's going to be a big game.
And it's just important that we take care of our business
and finished this year strong.
Also, as of yesterday, news came out that Andrew Wiggins will be back with the Warriors.
I read that like you all did.
And I saw that it also came out that Wiggs was attending or tending to his family,
father in particular, who hadn't been doing well.
I saw that news come out.
And when that news came out, I couldn't help but to remember and think back to our episode of the disgusting people who created the disgusting rumors that that man, woman had, like, let's not even talk about.
Again, I'm not going to get into talking about this man woman, but we know the disgusting rumors that came out.
And like the fact that people are just that thirsty to know what's going on in someone.
one's life is almost as thirsty as all these people paying for blue checks.
The thirst is at an all-time high, and privacy just doesn't seem to be a thing anymore,
but Hope Wigs is back.
As we try to make this run, he's very important to what we do, so keep my fingers crossed
there, and then also, you know, prayers up as well.
Lastly, before we get out of here,
I would be remissed if I didn't discuss the Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers,
National Champions, congratulations, ladies, absolutely amazing.
But Angel Reese and the Caitlin Clark thoughts.
I've seen some of the things that people have said,
and quite frankly, if I'm honest, I think it's absolutely ridiculous.
Angel did this
and everyone makes it like
she just went and committed a crime
this is basketball
I beat you
and that is that
you had an opportunity to beat me
and stop me from doing this
and this and you didn't
so you have to deal with that
as you know I don't want to sit here and make this
a race thing these are two great women's basketball players
those were two great teams, and I am going to appreciate what they brought to the game,
what they brought to our TV screens, how incredible of a game it was,
and let's discuss these national champions.
These girls go out here and win a national championship,
and all we want to talk about is a celebration that happened towards the end of the game.
Angel goes and wins most outstanding player of the tournament, of the Final Four,
and we want to talk about her doing this saying you can't see me.
But I'm pretty sure I seen Caitlin doing this at some point this year,
but it ain't so fun when the rabbit got the gun.
Now, the issue that I have is,
let's not have these double standards.
I remember very, very, very clearly,
Al Horford and game one in the NBA finals
when May Day comeback and he got an ant one,
and he flexing right in my face.
Nobody said a word.
Nobody said a word.
By the way, he was flexing in game one.
That didn't end so well.
Nobody said a word.
But now Angel does it, and it's a problem.
I'm here to tell y'all it's not a problem.
It is what it is.
This is basketball.
It's a very competitive sport.
And if I want to throw in your face after I beat you,
you can't see me.
Guess what?
Ain't nothing you can do about it.
ain't nothing you can do about it.
So let's stop talking about it.
Let's let it be what it is.
Let's appreciate this display of basketball
that these young women just gave us.
Caitlin Clark, you are incredible.
Game changer.
Has some things that can possibly help
take the women's game to the next level,
as we all want to see.
Angel Reese, champ,
keep talking your shit.
Keep doing what you do.
Keep winning.
and keep letting them hear about it.
Keep letting them hear about it.
Because guess what?
When you lose, they're going to let you hear about it.
So when you win, you let them hear about it.
You keep doing your thing.
Much respect, Queen.
Much respect.
And congratulations on the championship.
Y'all let that stuff go.
Appreciate them champions for what they are.
They are champs.
Can't nobody take that away until y'all try again next year.
That's a wrap from this episode of the Drey
on Green Show. Peace.
