What's up, everybody.
Welcome back to the Dremont Green Show.
We are filming this Sunday night, which is technically Monday morning Dallas time.
We just beat the Mavericks in game three.
Very fun and intense game.
Oh, by the way, for those of y'all who's been tuning in this,
to the show, our lovely supporters that we appreciate.
You probably notice that the mic, I don't know what this thing is called.
I'm just call it a microphone cover because that's about as deep as my knowledge
where microphone goes.
So I want to call this a microphone cover.
And if you probably notice, it's been missing.
Jackson told me to put it back on the day.
But the reason I've been taking it off is because I always look at the video and I never
notice it when I'm recorded.
And I always look at the video and it be like this.
So I finally was just like, I'm going to take it off.
And Jackson just told me to put it back on.
So if it ends up like this, I need y'all to scream and yell and say, hey, the mic's messed up.
Actually, we'll say that for when we do some live podcasts.
And some of our supporters can show up because we're definitely going to do that.
But let's actually get into game three, Dallas Mavericks versus the Golden State Warriors.
we were able to take that game 109 to 100 to take a 3-0 lead.
Very fun game to play in.
Steph got it going.
I think Steph finished the game with 31, 11,
and 5 or 6.
Steph has been absolutely incredible.
He's been rebounding the ball.
Great, which is huge in this series
because you get long rebounds.
Obviously, Dallas shoots a ton of threes.
And when you shoot a ton of threes,
the long rebounds, the rebounds are going to bounce to a little over the first guys that are boxing out to the free throw line area.
However, with Steph, Steph doesn't just get long rebounds.
Steph gets in the thick of things and comes up with rebounds.
And so one thing we've always known is Steph is a great rebounder, especially at his size and at the guard position.
He's always been an incredible rebounder, and he continues that through this series.
But I think for me watching Steph play, I know someone asks me tonight, like, what's the difference in Steph?
Is he more motivated because people were saying, like, Lucas now the point guard in the NBA, and it's him.
And is that motivated him?
And Lucas is an incredible player.
I don't, I'm not sure Steph had heard that because, like I told them, I hadn't heard that.
Like, I hadn't heard anyone like, oh, it's a changing of the guard.
and Luke is now the point guard in the NBA
and it's no longer Steph Curry.
I hadn't heard any of that talk.
I also don't pay attention to much talk like that.
And so I can't say that that motivated Steph Curry.
What I know for certain motivates Steph Curry
is that it's been, this is now year three of us
having not been in the finals,
we can change that and make it a two-year drought.
But this is the third year of that.
And so,
not planning the finals for two straight years, losing into playing games last year,
we're back, we're healthy, and that's enough motivation in itself to get to the conference finals
and then obviously on to the finals.
You know, we became accustomed to winning all the time and then you don't, and it just fills off.
And so, you know, we understand that we, we understand that we,
We don't have 10 years of basketball left together, and we have to take advantage of our
opportunities, and we want to add more rings.
And so that right there is enough motivation in itself.
I thought Wiggins played incredibly well.
Everybody knows Wiggins played incredibly well.
The defense he's been playing on Luca has been absolutely amazing.
The thing that I love most is he's picking him up full court every time he brings the ball
up to court.
and number one, the amount of energy that that takes is through the roof.
Now, most guys that pick guys up for a court, they're not doing it on the offensive end.
He's doing it on both ends of the floor.
And it's not one particular thing.
It's not just threes.
It's not just mid-range shots.
It's not just getting to the cup.
It's like all of these things.
And what I've been most impressed with on the offensive end with Wiggins,
not only this series, but past two series before this one,
is his offensive rebounding and coming up with extra possessions
and even the ones that he don't actually come up with,
he's getting his hand on him and just creating an extra possession
and causing it.
It's been absolutely amazing what he's been able to do.
Kavon Looney with another stellar game.
I think he had 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists or something like that.
Loon has really come on
And I'm happy to see Loon
playing the way he's playing
because this is what we all have known.
Loon always impacts winning.
And it's starting to show up in the stat sheet now
and it's showing up in a way to where the rest of the world can say,
oh, man, that guy's playing well
because if it don't show up in the stat sheet,
most people don't have a clue of what's going on in a basketball game,
although they think they do.
Most people don't have a clue of what's going on
the basketball game and they'll say, oh man, he sucks or he's this or he's that.
And he's been absolutely amazing.
One of the, and I spoke about this before, and I'll say it again for those that didn't hear
it before, one of the things that I get the biggest joy out of is I've seen it for years.
People call loon up into the screen.
They think they got, oh, man, I see this guy, I can go by him.
And he just defends and defends and uses his length well and doesn't bite on fakes.
And to see teams then realize like, oh, man, we can't call that guy into the screen.
It always brings me great joy.
So Loon has been absolutely amazing.
All playoffs long, by the way.
He was incredible in the Dermeremen Series 2.
We ended up going small because we thought we had matchup advantage on the other end by going small.
But Loon has been amazing all year, play 82 games, coming to these playoffs
and been the true professional that we know a year.
and he's been huge for us.
I mean, the inside presence that he gives us
is exactly what we were missing in that Memphis series
when Steph and I went to coach, like,
yo, we have to start Loom.
And the presence has been nervous every game ever since.
And so Loom's been absolutely amazing.
I thought Clay played a really good game.
Last two games, his driving and kicking
and getting the domino to fall,
the first domino to fall,
has been incredible.
He didn't shoot the ball particularly well tonight,
three for 10 from three.
I think it was six for 18 from the floor for 19 points.
But what was most beautiful about is he had great looks.
And if you get great,
if you give Clay Thompson great looks,
I'm living with that.
Clay Thompson going to make those.
I'm never worried about that.
And so I thought Clay was really key.
On the defensive end, Clay was very good for us as well.
I mean, overall total team effort.
For me, I had a piss poor first half.
Piss poor, frustrated.
Hold nine.
Also, did y'all think I was over and back?
All right, just asking for your opinion.
I don't know.
I'm not going to give my opinion on that call,
but I'm asking for your opinion.
Maybe you can hashtag the Draymond Green Show.
Wait, what's our hashtag, Jacks?
hashtag the Draymond Green Show.
And let me know if you thought it was over back or not.
I'm going to lead that up to you because you can't get fine.
I can't.
So you tell me what you think.
But nonetheless, I was frustrated.
I was pissed off.
And coming out the second half, I knew I had to be better if we were going to win that game on the road,
that I had to be better on both ends of the floor,
defensive end and the offensive end of the floor.
And I thought I did a pretty good job of that.
I'm really mad that my long two was a two because, you know, when I take the three, I like to make the three.
And, you know, kind of, although it still kind of acted as a three.
Like, it didn't count as a three, but it gave the effect of a three.
And so it still felt pretty good.
But, no, I think for me, last game, game two, I spent the entire game pouting.
I'm frustrated, arguing with the referees, blah, blah, blah.
I actually got a tech tonight for saying, that's whack.
But badge of honor, I wear that with pride.
So it is what it is.
But I think Coachizo texts me actually after last game.
And he said it in a very nice way.
He said, I'm going to read the text to you.
because I don't want to get his words wrong,
but he said it in a very nice way,
which is not normal because he'll usually just tell me like,
hey, you were terrible.
He said, day, shaky, but you got the job done.
And my humble opinion,
y'all got caught up in the officiating.
You got to realize you're the leader and many follows.
That being said, you hit a big three-point shot
And a couple big stops was key.
They follow your lead.
But you're still up to all.
Good luck, brother.
And I knew exactly what he was saying.
He didn't need to say much more.
And I responded to him.
I said, coach, you were 1,000% right.
I let my emotions go overboard.
And the team did follow him.
I have to be better.
But it sure does feel good to win.
And like I said, I knew exactly right away.
what he was saying.
I knew I needed to be better in that department
and not let that affect my game negatively.
And I think it had really affected my game negatively in game two,
which ultimately affected us as a team negatively.
Now, we were able to win the game
and, you know, when you can learn from your mistakes with a win,
take that.
And so I'll take it and just continue to move forward.
But I knew that I had to be better in that department.
department coming into this game, and I thought I did a much better job there. And so,
obviously we're up 3-0, close-out game, which we know is always the hardest game. This team is
not going to come out and quit. They're not quitters. They're not led by a quitter that's a coach,
and they're led by their main guy isn't a quitter either. So we're not expecting that. But
ultimately, if we come out, we execute our game plan, we play our brand of basketball. We play our brand of
basketball, we should go back to San Francisco as a participant in the NBA finals.
And man, does that sound good?
Because it's been a long cover year.
I mean, two years ago, we won 15 games.
Let that resonate for a minute.
Fifteen games.
I was ready to pull all my gray hairs out two years.
I mean, that's where quite a few of these came from, too.
You better know it.
But to go from 15 games two years ago,
now obviously these little fools go,
Clay was out, Steph was out, we get it.
But still was 15 games,
and it's still the same organization
that won 15 games.
And here we are with an opportunity
to close out a series on the road
and head back to the NBA finals.
And I am thrilled.
I absolutely love when I go on T&T and do the whole inside thing,
but I'd much rather be in the NBA finals.
And so we have that opportunity.
We have to make sure that we take advantage of it, come out.
I think one of the big keys in the game for us tonight
was holding Reggie Bullock to zero points.
You know, those guys come home, they get their shots going,
and maybe he end up scoring late,
but for the majority of the game, I know he has zero points.
I'm not sure if Jackson said he did.
finish with zero. And I thought that was a huge key because when they get those guys going,
you already have to send a couple bodies at Luca. And when they get those guys going and they're
just knocking shots down left and right, they're really, really, really tough team to beat. So
that was a big deal for us. You know, and I think if we can do some of that next game,
obviously you may not hold him with zero. He's probably going to hit a shot. He shoots the ball.
but if we can contain him,
Dorian Finney Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie better,
Spencer Dinwiddie had a really good game tonight,
Jalen Brunson.
Luca is tough to stop,
and Wiggins is doing an incredible job,
but you're never going to hold him 10 points or 0.8.
It's just not going to happen.
And so you have to do the job where you can do the job.
And I think we've done a good job of that for the most part in this series.
So game four on Tuesday will be a fun.
one. We have to come out and take care of the ball like we did tonight, especially at the beginning
of the game. We really put an emphasis on taking care of the ball at the beginning of the game and
getting shots up, and we did a really good job. So that's going to be a big key, making sure we get
off to a good start. You know they're going to come out. They're going to throw a haymaker to start
the game. Everybody does, especially down 3-0. You feel like you got nothing to lose. No one's going
to quit. So we have to be able to withstand that haymaker. And if we can withstand that haymaker and
punch back, then the doubt starts to set in. And if we can get the doubt to set in, you make it,
for lack of a better term, a lot easier on yourself, because it's never easy, but you make it a little
easier on yourself. So take the haymaker, respond, and then let it play out how it may. But hopefully,
the next time I talk to you all, we will be up 4 to 0 and done with this series and moving on to the
NBA finals. Actually, before we move on, I'd be remissed if I didn't talk about Andrew Wiggins
dunking on someone is incredible. You get, you know, momentum. It just feel good to dunk on
somebody. But to dunk on Luca, that's a different, that's a different thing. You know, that's like,
it's one thing to dunk on somebody that's great. But when you dunk on one of the guys, like,
Like, Luca, as we all know,
Luca wanted him ones.
He wanted a guy.
It's like, when you can dunk on one of the guys,
it's like much, much bigger.
And such an incredible dunk.
I hate that it was, the play was stopped by the offensive foul call.
And although it's, you know, we still got the two points
and the dunk counted.
It just sucks that those emotions weren't able to.
be felt right then during that game.
Like, once the review happens and it counts and all of that, like, that's cool,
but it's not the same emotion than when a dunk just happened.
Like, if Luca has to get up off the floor and dribble the ball up and Wiggins is picking
him up full court out.
Like, that's a totally different thing, and that's a totally different emotion.
And so it kind of sucks that the play just didn't go on and you didn't.
get to feel that emotion, what that dunk should have brought.
But nonetheless, it is a highlight.
It's one that will probably be the biggest hot, slash, top highlight on Andrew Wiggins' career
highlights.
Absolutely amazing.
We've been telling Wigs slash asking him for years.
Wigs, when you go to the hole, just try to dump.
Like, we don't care if you make it or miss it.
Nine times out of 10, if you try it, he jumps so high into Pogo Stick.
nine times out of ten, you're probably going to make it or get filed.
And he's attacking the rim aggressively like that.
And man, that was an incredible play.
And I had a front row seat better than anyone else in that arena.
It was beautiful to see.
Very exciting day for me.
Not so much for Jackson last 24 hours.
Jackson, would you like to start off speaking about your Celtics?
I think we can leave it to you.
I'm a little bit, I'm a little disappointed.
I don't know how the Celtics have only lost two quarters
but are down two one in this series.
That's all right.
It's all right.
It sounds very similar to Minnesota and Memphis.
Minnesota at one point,
they won four games and was down three to two.
So they were a little worse off.
But I think when I'm watching the game, number one, the heat came out last night or two, last night, like they were pissed off.
Like, like they were facing elimination.
The intensity level that they came out with was absolutely incredible.
And I know I said this before game two.
I was a little off by one game.
It happened in game three.
But I told y'all Bamada Bayo was going to come out
way more aggressive offensively than he had been.
He didn't really so much in game two
and part of the reason they got washed.
But game three,
Bam came out humming.
He's 16 first half points,
which is absolutely incredible.
But he dominated and owned the paint.
And he took total advantage of Robert Williams being out.
You know, Robert Williams in that pain, it's a lot tougher matchup.
Not that Bam can't still do what he's done,
but it's a lot tougher matchup when Robert Williams is around that realm.
And I think Bam took total advantage of Robert Williams being out,
and Bam got off to a great star.
He looked like the Bam out of Bayou that we all know that we all have grown to love.
And then everyone else filled in around that.
Then Max Trues start hitting shots.
Max Trues hit some big shots, by the way.
Kyle Lari started hitting a few shots.
And Tyler Hero, they're going to have to lean on Tyler Hero a lot more,
especially if Jimmy's not out.
And Bam is going to have to continue being that Bam that we saw in game three
because they're going to need offense.
Carl Lowry's first game back after, I mean, he's essentially missed a better part of the last five or six weeks.
And I'm not so sure that you can expect a bunch from Kyle just because he's still finding this rhythm.
Kyle's a pro, Kyle's a champion, he's been doing this.
So I wouldn't be shocked if Kyle had a good game.
But I also wouldn't go in depending on it because he does have to find his rhythm.
And so they're going to need a lot from Tyler Hero,
but I thought the game really changed.
And I know people say, oh, well, the Celtors,
I mean, the heat were up 26 at one point and blah, blah, blah.
They had gained total control of that game.
Even when they were down 11 or 12 points,
they were in total control of the game.
And I thought the game really changed back for Miami
with Victor Oladipo's defense on Jalen Brown.
Because Jason Tatum was struggling.
JT was struggling bad the whole game for the most part.
And who had it going for them was Jalen Brown.
And Victor Oladipo came in, he got the strip.
Then he made Jailen stumble and somebody else came over to steal.
And then Jalen started getting off the ball.
He wasn't in attack mode like that.
And then it got to the point where if you were watching,
Jalen was in attack mode when Vic wasn't on him.
And as a defender, there's no better feeling.
and like, oh, this guy don't think he can score on me anymore.
So he's just going to wait, wait, wait,
then he gets somebody else and he's going to attack.
As a defender, that's an advantage to the defender
because I know now, like, oh, he don't want to see me.
So when I get on him again, I'm getting that stop
because he really don't believe he can score on me anymore.
Now, not that Jalen Brown can't score on Victor Oladipo,
but last night he struggled.
And Vic looked absolutely amazing.
I was impressed with Vic's lateral movement.
Coming off the injuries that he's come off of,
I'd be willing to bet if you stuck Victor Oladipa right here, right now,
he couldn't move laterally like that.
That's no disrespect to Victor.
My point is, is that's a dog for you.
That's a gamer.
That's like you put me in any situation I'm getting it done.
I'm sure Victor can still move laterally as he showed us last night.
My point more so was,
Vick's been a dog since I've seen him play and played against him at Indiana.
coming from DC, DMV, you're bred that way.
And to see him go in that game after not playing in the first half,
Jimmy goes down with an injury, and he comes in pissed off.
And you know what most people are going to do?
They're going to come in taking bad shots.
Like, I can show you I can score.
And like, I'm going to show you what I can do on the offensive end.
Mm-mm.
He came in and showed you what he can do on the defensive end.
because believe it or not, that's what's going to keep you on the floor
because Jalen Brown ain't coming off the floor.
Jason Tatum ain't coming off the floor.
You need someone to guard those guys.
PJ is guarding J.T.
you need somebody to guard Jalen Brown.
And so I thought his mindset and how he approached that
was absolutely fabulous.
It showed up on, maybe not in the stat sheet,
but it definitely showed up if you were watching the game
and knew what you were looking at.
And most importantly, it helped them pull out a much-needed win,
going into Boston tied one-on-one.
They took back home court advantage.
And now we'll see going in tomorrow if they can get greedy.
It's going to be very, very important that Jimmy Butler can get out there and play in game for.
But if not, someone else has to step up.
If I'm guessing, Jimmy probably won't play because if you're at a heat and you're like,
Maybe he can play, maybe he can't.
Then is your thought process?
We took home court to vanish back.
We can get him another couple days of rest
to let the inflammation settle down that they said was there.
And then we'll have him back at home.
The only tricky thing about that is
in the playoffs,
you always want to give your best shot
because all it takes for one game to change the series.
All it takes is one slip up.
You go home,
all of a sudden you look up and you're down three, too, like, whoa, I thought we was getting
Jimmy back and blah.
And so you never want to squander away an opportunity in the playoffs.
So, and we know how tough Jimmy is, and we know how tough the Miami Heat Organization is.
And so if Jimmy can be out there, Jimmy's going to be out there.
But sometimes the thought process is, we're going back or we get an extra couple of days.
You take those extra couple of days.
So we'll see.
That's going to be interesting because that's going to play a big part of it.
and the Miami Heat team that we see take to court in game four.
I'm expecting J.T. to have a much better game.
But you also have to give credit to PJ Tucker's defense.
PJ Tucker is all over him.
He's playing physical, and, you know, PJ deserves that credit.
But I do expect J.T. to get it going more.
Marcus Smart came back in the game, and he was huge.
Now, Smarty, we do got to talk about you screaming and yelling like that, champ.
And coming back in the game,
Must be something going on in Boston
because that seems to be a thing
of guys leaving the game
and agonizing pain,
a la Paul Pierce.
And Paul Pierce got wheelchaired off.
That's a whole other level of like,
I'm hurt to get taken off in a wheelchair
and come back in the game.
But I tell you what?
It shall be feeling like Rocky interest
when them guys coming back to the game in Boston.
I mean, J.T. went out for a second,
and came back, it felt like them people chant for Rocky
when them boys coming back in there.
But Marcus Smart came back in.
He played an incredible game as soon as he got back in.
I knew that three was going in as soon as he put the ball down.
That's just who Marcus Smart is.
You have to expect that.
But big game for them tomorrow.
And actually, Marcus Smart kept them in a game offensively
because Vic, like I said, started getting a J.B.
J.T. was already struggling.
and where were they getting the points from?
Marcus Smart was the one creating everything offensively,
which kept them in the game and actually gave them a chance.
I think at one point they cut it to 96 to 92,
and maybe 96 to 95.
But, yeah, they cut it the 96 to 95.
And so, and it was Marcus.
Marcus was making plays, getting off the ball,
making shots, getting to the rim.
And so I'm expecting a very aggressive Marcus Smart
tomorrow, but I'm also expecting J.T. to play better as well. And I have the Miami Heat tying up
the series. I'm sorry. I have the Boston Celtics tying up the series two to two headed back to
Miami. I'm interested to see if Jimmy plays. That's huge for the Miami Heat. But I got it
going back to Miami tied up two to two. Looking at a long six or seven game series. That's what I'm
thinking we shall see but before we get out of here because i need to get some rest although i don't
sleep after games by the way before we get out of here we got a couple of mailback questions jacks
you got the mailback questions for us i do uh reminder to hashtag the draymond green show on
twitter to submit your questions and also reminder to follow the new instagram account at draymond
show we still have a jersey giveaway active so just go follow comment with you
with a friend's name on that post.
It will be entered into the jersey giveaway.
But for now, the mailbag.
First one.
From at Playoff, Dremond,
what is Dremont's favorite game-winning defensive stop?
My guy, Charlie, that's my man, Charlie.
What's my favorite game-winning defensive stop?
Hmm.
That's a good question, Charlie.
You know who actually knows and probably has the answer to this question?
Charlie.
Charlie knows all this.
stuff better to me. My favorite one, I'd have to think long and deep for my favorite one,
but what I will tell you is, being that I have a couple already this playoff run, the Jaron Jackson
just jumps out at me. Why? Because Jaron was having a good game, number one, number two,
that's my little brother. And if he hissed that shot and having a game that he's having,
I never hear the end of it. It's just like when Miles Bridges game me with that.
trash hook he threw in in Charlotte.
Like, I went to the group chat right away.
I game Draymond, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Actually, I told them like, yo, y'all, Miles just game me because I knew Miles was on
his way.
You're like, yeah, I was just about to come tell y'all, I know.
And I would have never heard the end of that one, especially with the game Jaron was
having.
And so that just felt great to me for my own personal reasons.
As far as overall, though, man, Charlie, we're going to be.
bring Charlie on the show and Charlie going to run a defensive clinic for y'all with with
my highlights and tell you which one was the best. I'm going to have to get back to you on now with
Charlie. From J-Mo at J-Moh 7701, how long does it take to break down game film? It doesn't
take very long, J-mo, because they cut out all of, you know, they cut out all of the in-between stuff. So in-looking at a game
film, it's usually 46 to 49 minutes or so of actual game time when you're sitting here watching.
And so it doesn't really take that long.
Now, where it gets tricky is you start watching over and over and over again because
just like any movie, if you go watch a movie right now and then you watch it again tomorrow,
you're going to see something different that you missed.
And so where it gets tricky and you're watching a bunch of films,
you're watching that over and over and over again, seeing different things, you know,
and catching different things and like, oh, man, we can do that here, we can do that there.
And so that's where it gets tricky.
It's just the amount of times that you're watching it over and over again.
But watching the actual film, it doesn't take a ton, a bunch of time.
Now, obviously, you're stopping and starting, you're rewinding.
And so realistically, to break down one game for me normally takes like an hour and 15 to an hour of 20,
but then those, like I said, those hours climb once you watch it over and over again, as you could imagine.
Last one from Mitch at Mitch Bread.
What's your proudest moment not on the basketball court?
My proudest moment not on the basketball court is I live it daily,
and that's having an incredible fiancé, that's having incredible children,
and being the best man that I can be for them on a daily basis.
And the reality is that sometimes you fall short of that.
And, you know, every day, it's a new day,
and you're chasing that greatness on that side of things.
But for me, that is my biggest accomplishment slash my proudest moment is my family.
They are everything to me.
They make it all worth it.
They make getting up in the morning when I don't feel like getting up.
They make that possible.
and then the support that I received from them
and just being able to do what I can
to give back to them,
that's always what I'm most proud of.
Appreciate that, Mitch Brad,
giving me an opportunity to talk about my family.
Absolutely love them.
They're absolutely amazing.
Until next time from the Dremont Greetings Show,
hopefully the next time I am talking to y'all,
I'm talking about we're headed to the NBA Finals.
That's how it should be.
Maybe that's how it's going to be.
We'll see.
Until next time, appreciate y'all, love and support from the Draymond Green Show, live from Dallas.
It's a wrap.
Peace.
