This is our Sunday night divisional round episode coming to you a little bit later. Post all the games today post a very exciting Ravens Bill's game where Simon and I got kicked in the nuts on this over, which we will get to, in which we're going to review the results of all of our bets so far.
Starting point is 00:02:44 We're going to preview the early lines for the conference championship games. I'm joined, as always, by my co-s, my companion, my compadre, my BFF professional better, Simon Hunter. Hello, Simon. How we doing, Chad? Dude, this weekend had everything. Did it not? A game?
Starting point is 00:03:01 Honest to God. I think that Kansas City, Houston game, deserves entry into the sports bet. Hall of Fame, I will explain my position. I think a lot of people would agree with me. A game that you predicted three different wins. You predicted Washington on the money line. You predicted the over. It was your Simon says, that being Washington and Detroit. A game where a field goal kicker cost us a win instead of a push. Thank you, Jake Elliott. First note I wrote, Buck and Jake Elliott. Last note I wrote, Buck and Jake Elliott. And then A game that we had no business covering when there were 31 points scored in the first half,
Starting point is 00:03:44 we lose the under, last, second or last, third to last, whatever it is, play of the game for the Baltimore Ravens. Catch every episode of the Favorites Live on YouTube. Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or 18 and older in Kentucky, gambling problem called 1-800 gambler or 1,800. bets off in Iowa terms, conditions restrictions apply. Are you ready to roll, my brother? I am, my friend. Houston at Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Kansas City minus eight and a half. We lean Kansas City all week. We made it our foxhole. We never loved it. It wasn't a game that we loved compared to the others. I think this turned into a Hall of Fame betting game. I had more texts about the Matt Areza running out of the end zone safety that cost all those plus nine and a half bettors their cashed ticket than I've ever had on any backdoor cover. I don't know if it was the circumstances.
Starting point is 00:05:29 I don't know if it's because betting is more prevalent now. I don't know if it's because so many people were watching that game and it's Kansas City and it's Taylor's. Swift, so there's going to be a lot of eyeballs on that game. You know, Joe Buck nodded to it. Obviously, it got a lot of attention after the game because there's so many more people covering betting. But everything led up to that being, and there were a million different plays along the way. What was your take on that game?
Starting point is 00:05:55 Yeah, it's a better dream. I know, you know, social media has warped people's brains where it's always betters on betters, but in real life, the real world, it's betters versus the books. and the books got absolutely punished. I mean, if you're any professional out there that could have grabbed the 10 on Houston, they grabbed it despite, even if you had the 7 and a half,
Starting point is 00:06:14 the 8, the 8 and a half, the 9 on the Chiefs, it hit the key number of 10, some offshore is even at 10.5. They got killed. They got absolutely killed with that play and that middle that. No, none of us deserve that. Like I literally that 10 bet,
Starting point is 00:06:29 obviously it's one-tenth of what I had down on the Chiefs in that spot. And, you know, I'm happy to hit them middle right you played it for the hope of hitting the middle but when he ran it out there i like literally did the math i'm just like oh my god the amount of money that just moved with all these books because it just moved through another key number back down to nine it was incredible and you had basically had you know the joe public guy who shows up 20 minutes for the game makes their bet on the chiefs they're mad right because they they lost by half a point where you know it's eight and a
Starting point is 00:06:58 half for what six days so dude it was eight and a half basically for six seven days. This number moved to nine and a half about, you know, an hour before the game. I checked the line, an hour before the game. I'm like, this thing's at nine and a half? What the fuck happened? And this happened a couple times this weekend. We're going to get into it on a couple of other games. But I was shocked. This thing moved to nine and a half so late. And people were still betting it, which is, dude, listen to the favorites. Get the best of the number. Yeah, for sure. But luckily, you know, there might be only three of those guys of the books where everyone else is basically either on the eight and a half or below with the chiefs or they're on the nine and a half and above for that, you know, Texans team that we'll be honest.
Starting point is 00:07:50 We both know. Like that's why you bet on my homes in that game. People are going to bitch you be like, well, the Texans out gained them. They did this. They did this. This is the life of betting against Mahomes in the playoffs. You look for excuses. Look for reasons.
Starting point is 00:08:02 oh let's blame their refs you know the deal they're always going to get the calls and we joked about coming in the year that's why you know all my futures on the afc side were just on the chiefs because it's like NFL they want this 3p just as much as anyone else and now you're mixing in the voodoo that is mahomes and this chief's team that they can they're happy to be out game they do not care they don't play that way it's they beat you all three ways right they beat you with the blitz on defense and they bleach you with special teams and they beat you on offense with just playing smart football and I'll turn on the ball over. So yeah, that was as a better, those are my favorite games
Starting point is 00:08:36 because it's both sides covered and the under hit. And it's like the pros just cleaned up in that game. And now we got the next game, which is another game that this is why books need to take professional action this Washington game. The only one's betting Washington heavy, Washington's money line are pros. Well, hold on, hold on. I'm just getting the point that these are two really well bet professional games
Starting point is 00:08:58 that basically help the book and also crush the book. book. That Chiefs game had so many things that kept them covering that game. There was the classic luck call for the Chiefs, the questionable roughing the passer call on Will Anderson, the classic Chiefs break on a missed extra point. Classic Chiefs have one good drive in the first half and it is the only first half touchdown. Mahomes getting another fake late hit call that Troy Aikman, who I don't know how you feel about Troy Aikman, I love Troy Akeman. I think he's so good at this. He's so grouchy and he's so skeptical and is so unafraid to throw cold water on everything that the NFL holds precious on all the hype, on all the hyperbole.
Starting point is 00:09:57 I think he's perpetually just kind of annoyed at everything, it seems to me. He was so mad about that late hit on Mahomes. But the thing that was great, the Superman pose, touchdown throw to Kelsey, those are the things that only Mahomes can do, and it's why you bet Patrick Mahomes. It's why we are going to keep betting Patrick Mahomes until Patrick Mahomes is no longer Patrick Mahomes. Better until Kelsey retires because I think Calvert had the best analogy of it. Like we're in this midst of a two-pair greatness.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Like this is Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Kelsey and Mahomes. This is like to me that is the perfect comp. They are the perfect one-two in just total unisonance where like he needs, he needs a certain route run against a certain defense. And they don't even, they don't know what the call is. Kelsey dictates the route in the route. And you saw it two different times where he basically kind of did his thing, getting to the middle, knowing that there's going to be an open there.
Starting point is 00:11:01 And, you know, as someone that's around his age, you know, this is retirement age for tight ends, you know, 35, 34 year old, you're done, you're cooked. This dude's out here getting 100 yards again. And is it nine straight, 100 yard games in the playoffs? He's so good. It's so good. It's ridiculous. So, yeah, me and you're on the same boat.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Like, I agree, I'm a Troy Aikwin Hater, but yeah, I'm all in on what he was talking about. because we all see it. We all see the refs giving the chiefs these calls, and everyone gets pissed off. Unless you're a chief's fan or a better, you hate it. It's brutal, but it's also why we bet on Mahomes in the playoffs. He gets the calls. They get the BS calls, and we joke all the time.
Starting point is 00:11:40 You're playing not the 11th man. You're playing the 12th man. So, yeah, the Mahomes Kelsey thing. We can't overlook it enough. We'll never see anything like it, most likely ever again. Seven straight championship games, right, for Mahomes now. It's ridiculous. And we talked to before the season,
Starting point is 00:11:59 it's the easiest bet to make every year. Don't overthink it. Chiefs, Super Bowl. And here they are, a game away. Once again, it's just absurd how good they are. The last thing I'll say is Spags, as a defensive coordinator in the playoffs, five straight blitzes in one series.
Starting point is 00:12:15 And like, he had two, he had blitzes that were just so well designed. It's amazing. how Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, Steve Spagnolo, Chris Jones can elevate all of their games when it gets to the playoffs. They honestly are just at a different level than everybody else. It's such a joy to watch. And then you get the lucky breaks and you get the Baham's magic. And you get the blocked freaking field goal that would have made it eight. Like, come on, man. And that was just, that to me is why when we look back in history, when the book is written about how to explain the thrill, the agony, the joy, the misery, how important the number is,
Starting point is 00:13:05 we're going to look back at this game as the Hall of Fame example of all of that and the unpredictability of betting on football. Yeah, and a game that, again, Mahomes threw for what, 177? I think it was a crazy stat where he had one receiver have, one catch. The rest was just his tight ends and running backs. It's just incredible. They can beat you in so many ways. And, yeah, playoff chiefs.
Starting point is 00:13:34 It was a great way to start the weekend. Great way to start the weekend. That was our foxhole. We were super excited. It went really well. Starting off the weekend, great for us. Washington plus nine and a half at Detroit. Let's all give our flowers to you, my BFF, professional.
Starting point is 00:13:51 better, Simon Hunter. This was your Simon says. You nailed it. You said on Tuesday's show, you love the over. You nailed it. Practically in the first half. By Thursday, you're like, I think you may want to put some money on the Washington money line. There's going to be an upset. You nailed it. Well done. Well freaking done. You deserve the accolades. You deserve the flowers you deserve to be called a brilliant professional better and my companion. Thanks, Chad. Yeah, that was that was fun, man. That's one of those where, you know, you're at the book with people and you're going crazy and, you know, that's the type of bet that you feel sick two days leading up to it and am I overthinking it. Why is this feel so easy?
Starting point is 00:14:45 What am I not reading right here? Because I told you on Thursday, I knew some smart money that were on Detroit and I mean a lot of the guys were just pushing back against them or just like this defense how do they get the stops and they had no answer their their answer was they don't need to stop so you have that run game proved out to be true if they just ran the ball if they never passed the ball they probably would have won that game Detroit that's how dominant Gibbs is and that offensive line so I get where they're coming from their view of it but that was you know again there's so much to talk in this game that we don't even have enough time to even break it down I I feel like we'll spend more time at this upcoming week with their Eagles matchup.
Starting point is 00:15:22 But yeah, the defense showing up the way they did was impressive. But the most impressive part is the rookie. Like Jane Daniels, I felt confident about Benham. I felt confident about taking the money line. But the fear was, like even Evans tells us the trends. Basically, Detroit's automatic on that spot. Like that is the Detroit spot. A night game, off a by, big favorite.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Just absolutely covering machine. Like all those trends did scare me in a couple of ways. but I just kept thinking of myself this defense, how do they get the stops? And, you know, not even I could envision Jane Daniels happen the type of game he had. He was just so cool, con-collective. Yeah, as an Eagles fan, sure, I'm semi-terified,
Starting point is 00:16:02 but as it better, it's like, man, what a great feeling knowing you had that guy over a touchdown that matchup where, you know, we talked before the game, chat, I told you, if it was within six points, I knew I was going to win that game with Daniels. That's how much confidence I had had into that game where even if he was down the fourth quarter, I never felt like I was going to be out of it.
Starting point is 00:16:20 So yeah, bad number. And we talked, you know, early Sunday or Saturday morning, you were like, I'm worried about the movement of the line. Not too, it hasn't moved too much. And I was like, well, it has moved to eight and a half. Right before kick, a bunch of books hit seven and a half. So that was really heavy professional money coming very late on that Washington team. And yeah, they, they're the only double digit win this weekend.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Washington commanders, the 60th over the one seat. Football is great. I'm in agony for Dan Campbell and the Lions. You know how much I love this team. I love their spirit and their heart. I love the way they talk about each other. He's crying in the presser. It was brutal.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It was brutal. I wanted this trio of Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn to win. I love that Ben Johnson had stayed for two years because he felt like he had something so good and he wanted to finish it. I admire all that. Okay. So I'm, I'm so sad watching the Dan Campbell press conference. I was talking to my kid today when we were watching the Eagles game and I said to him, do you think Dan Campbell's even watching these games? He was just like, I think Dan Campbell's in a very dark room with his emotions
Starting point is 00:17:38 right now, just trying to get through it. Like, I feel for him. I do. As someone who is, as someone who has tried to do things that you feel can be big and have them fail spectacularly, it takes a minute to get over it. I was invested in this team. I loved them. They made us money. Love Dan Campbell. Poor Jared Goff.
Starting point is 00:18:04 That poor defense. They did the best they could for so many weeks, playing third stringers, even when the game started. Just, you know, Amique Robertson out with that routine. Haskell elbow injury. He's in tears. Like, it was just, tell me you feel for Dan Campbell.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Tell me you have that in you. I do. I honestly don't in a ways because he makes so much money. Chad, the ones I do feel bad for the fans, always the fans. Because as a lifelong loser,
Starting point is 00:18:33 Eagle fan, I know what it's like to be a Lions fan right now. Like, you know how many times in my life we were the top dog and we blew it in the playoffs against inferior competition in games that you felt great
Starting point is 00:18:44 had into. You bought into it. and it all comes crashing. Now, the only way the Lions are going to break this curse is they need a backup with a huge dick. All right. It's someone that's gone through it. That's what the Lions need. So Teddy Bridgewater, I hope you come back there next year.
Starting point is 00:18:57 You are the savior to that Detroit Lions team. I don't know about you, Chad. When I saw Teddy Bridgewater come to that game, I immediately felt guilt for winning Washington to win. Like, I want Teddy to win a Super Bowl so bad. Yeah. But yeah, that whole team, we love them. We won, you know, in a shitty dog shit year we had, they were the warm bright spot for us. They were so good to us all year in every way they could be.
Starting point is 00:19:19 And yeah, it pained me to bet against them. But it's just we talk a lot of time. You take the emotions out of it. You bet off a computer model. And I try not to be scared off by all these pro betters barking my ear. Tell me how great this Detroit team is. And it just felt great. Like Daniels to believe in a rookie in that spot, it took a lot.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Like, again, sleepless nights, Chad. A lot of sleepless nights leading into that game. And the fact that it came through the way it did, you know, It was even at a half time, right? They're up 10. Never sweat. Right. Like even when they come and drive the field and score a touchdown,
Starting point is 00:19:52 it goes, okay, well, he's going to get another one here, Jane Deno, you guys don't know how to stop them. And yeah, holy shit, Washington. We talk all the time chat about how a difference a quarterback can make. It's funny even looking back on our podcast really in the year of, you know, obviously no difference to me, Caleb Williams, going on the Bears, blah, blah, blah, But the fact that Drake May and Jania Daniels, if Snyder's still the owner of this team in Washington, you know they take May. Whatever Snyder could do to make the wrong move, he always does it.
Starting point is 00:20:23 And this team would be number one pick, number two pick coming to this year. Like, that's how incredible hope and having a great leader like Jane Daniels is to a team. And, yeah, again, we're going to spend a lot of time. I don't want to go too much into it. But I just can't get over how impressive this rookie is. And yeah, we just witnessed arguably, I mean, actually is arguably no doubt the greatest rookie season ever in NFL. So, yeah, what a time to be a Washington commanders fan.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I think Evan putting our chat, you know, last week or the week before, there were 150 to 1, I should say, to win the Super Bowl coming to this season. So what an absolute run by the commanders. Oh, so good. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news?
Starting point is 00:21:06 We created our own podcast. called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend.
Starting point is 00:21:19 But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going. Don't? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
Starting point is 00:21:44 people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite, unhumored me with Robert Smygel and friends,
Starting point is 00:22:08 me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:22:29 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Starting point is 00:23:25 Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad. But secretly, he became someone else. A master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy. But I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living? a double life. That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Simon, can you believe there's only three more NFL games left in the season?
Starting point is 00:24:37 But dry your eyes because the action network work has some incredible YouTube shows lined up for you this week across all of the biggest sports. The college football national championship betting preview is Monday night. And we've got a special BBOC live show on YouTube 5 p.m. Eastern on Monday night with tons of bets on the game. I love BBOC. Love those guys. Love that show. If you want to get cut up on betting NBA. There are NBA games all day long on Monday for the MLK Day holiday slate. And our podcast, Buckets has a special megapod breaking down all the games. On Tuesday, Buckets returns with a YouTube live show at 8 p.m. Eastern talking rivalry week bets for the Wednesday NBA
Starting point is 00:25:27 split. Plus plenty of NFL conference championship coverage here on the favorites and the Action Network podcast. Make sure you subscribe to the Action. Network YouTube page, amazing, amazing stuff. Also amazing, mostly. Philadelphia Eagles. The drive to the Super Bowl in Philadelphia between the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles. With a bold spirit and a firm resolve,
Starting point is 00:25:53 the Los Angeles Rams fought their way down a troubled path to land a coveted spot in the NFC playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles spent their season cultivating a surly image that struck fear and pain in the souls of opposing quarterback. Philadelphia Eagles. They were my executive decision. Minus six.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Fucking Jake Elliott. Fucking fuck, fuck Jake Elliott, man. Before he took that 37-year-of-field goal, I give him credit. He had that 37-year-fiel goal. Before he made that, they had an angle from behind the goalpost, and it honestly looked impossible. Like the field is covered in snow. You can't even tell which way the wind is blowing. And he fucking stroked it.
Starting point is 00:26:33 That was 300 yards down the fairway. And then Jalen Hertz comes back from the knee injury to beautiful throws. Like they're cranking. It started to feel like the Rams couldn't play in the snow. Sequin busts it open. He's got another 200 plus yard game. Fucking Jake Elliott misses another extra point. The Rams make it interesting.
Starting point is 00:27:04 They push. I mean, I'm glad for the Eagles. I wanted the Eagles to win. But what an excruciating push. That, it was, it was unnecessary, Simon. Yeah, what an all-time cover, though, if you had the Rams ticket. Like, that, that's the high of highs. Like covering that, even these backdoor overs, it's the best.
Starting point is 00:27:25 It's the best feeling everyone. You win bets that, you know, you shouldn't have won. And, you know, we joke all the time. Like, we know the deal of this job. You need a lot of luck. You're going to put a ton of work in, and the work is, you know, to add that sometimes you will get lucky, that's just part of it, right? And we talk about time. Sometimes you're going to get unlucky.
Starting point is 00:27:46 And I knew, just as you knew, when he missed that extra point, not even the first one, but especially the second one, they're going to play prevent defense. We're going to get back toward here. And that's exactly what happened. And, yeah, if you're the Rams better, basically you had three points a safety before they scored a touchdown that final four minutes. So it's like you got to feel great getting that back to recover. And we talked before coming on. I thought that, but Eagles bet was dead when AJ dropped that touchdown in the first half. It's like that's not normal.
Starting point is 00:28:18 And this is the type of game where the Eagles, things just kept going wrong for them. Right there in field goal range, sack, taking out field goal range. That happened twice, like two different times. And they punted like they did dominate. And we talked before the game, the snow could go either way, could be an equalizer or could benefit the Eagles, it definitely did not benefit them. That offensive line doesn't give up seven to eight sacks in the game. Like that was just... But they also got the fumble recovery from Kyron Williams. Like that was when the snow really started coming down and you could feel
Starting point is 00:28:47 the momentum changing a little bit like the Rams were not adjusting to the snow in the same way that the Eagles were. But I get your point. I totally... Sure. That's fair. And like the Eagles had a bunch of picks they dropped. You know, the Rams never really had any opportunities for picks like hurts once again played pretty safe pretty boring with the ball and obviously before the injury the reed option was just given the rams nightmares like that that first busted run of his was like a tone setter and something they had to adjust to for the defense which again is going to open up everything for uh sayquan which it did like he ran for 220s like once again i can't thank giants ownership and GM enough just the ultimate savior for this franchise and um yeah it's
Starting point is 00:29:32 obviously the type of game, Chad, but we were both sick to our stomachs because it's like the grossest way to lose, but it's such a great game. I'm trying not to overreact to it, but obviously I'm happy as an Eagles fan to win, but as someone that pushed on the six that covered eight different ways,
Starting point is 00:29:49 I can't believe it. So once again, we talk all the time. That's the type of year it's been for us. We can't get one missed extra point. We have to have two in the same game. It's that kind of year, the next game truly epitomized what kind of year it's been. As much as the Chief's game, we benefited from so much luck.
Starting point is 00:30:11 And as much as the commander's game, we benefited from handicapping it exactly right and making the right call, the Eagles game was really excruciating. I do want to acknowledge your joy and your happiness about. I mean, people probably can tell you. I'm a little scared. We're going to get into the game coming up here. But yeah, I'm trying to tone it back a little bit because I know, I mean, we're the most hated fan base.
Starting point is 00:30:39 No one likes fucking Eagles fans. I love the Eagles. I love them. I love Philly. Like my favorite thing, I'm so glad TikTok is back just so I can watch. Oh, God, is it? Yeah, it's back. I can watch more videos of Philly's fans going crazy in late inning playoff games when somebody
Starting point is 00:31:00 hits a grand slam. because those are my favorite videos on TikTok. I watch them again and again and again and that and the trade turner when everyone starts clapping for him when he's playing badly. I love Philly fans for that. I love Eagles fans. You know I have a soft spot in my heart for Philly.
Starting point is 00:31:15 I love the city. I'm wearing my Drexel shirt right now, actually. So I want you to do great. I want you to win. I want to go to the Super Bowl. Me too, me too. Anyways, the game that epitomized our season, Baltimore at Buffalo, this was our big balls, bed of the week, the under 51 and a half. This was our scutte roulette.
Starting point is 00:31:40 You love Buffalo. I didn't hate Buffalo. I just kind of believed more in Baltimore. And then, of course, like that first half, there's 31 points scored because Lamar's got two picks and a fumble. They have more turnovers in one game. than they have in the entire season in a game. And it's like, are you fucking kidding me? And then the second half plays exactly the way we thought it would
Starting point is 00:32:09 until Lamar backdoors us with a, turns out meaningless touchdown lands at 52. I mean, come on. Are you fucking kidding me? Oh, playoff Lamar, Chad. You believed in playoff Lamar. What's I feel like the day, the day a game after you believe in in playoffs Lamar?
Starting point is 00:32:27 That's a thing. What is this thing? I truly didn't believe in playoff Lamar. My mistake, my mistake. Roll the tape, man, Mitchell. My mistake was I believed in offensive coordinator, Todd Monkin, realizing don't put the ball in playoff Lamar's hands. He's got to. It's the playoffs. What are they going to do?
Starting point is 00:32:54 You have a brilliant running game. We saw what happened in the same. second half. And you can say, okay, like, what they did in the first half set up the running for the second half. But there were three or four plays in the first half, including a couple of the passing plays that went decidedly badly for the Ravens where they should have been running the ball. And they kept trying to throw the ball. It made no sense to me. The bills, how many yards did Josh Allen throw for, 130, right? Like, he had 96 in the fourth quarter. They had the perfect offensive game plan. Hold on. I know Matt Mitchell is going to want to come on because I know he's got
Starting point is 00:33:36 strong feelings about this. Matt Mitchell, I know, like, this means something different to you than it does the assignment because they have won a Super Bowl recently. But I would like you to come on and talk to me as a Bills fan if my feelings were displaced and how you were feeling right now. Hey, Chad. Listen to me. There was a time when we would refer to this show as the most illiterate gambling podcast. Do you remember that? I do.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Because of that, I'd like to share something very private. If you're a Bills fan and you're listening to this on a Monday morning and you're driving around or doing whatever, probably not if you're driving around. But I want you to close your eyes. I want you to listen to this very carefully. Okay. this is a quote from arguably the greatest novelist of all time, Dostoevsky, and I repeat this to myself before every important Bill's game, because I think it epitomizes the Bill's experience in a win or more frequently in a loss.
Starting point is 00:34:36 Ready? Here we go. And I seem to have such strength in me now that I think I could stand to anything, any suffering, only to be able to say and to repeat to myself in every, every moment, I exist. In thousands of agonies, I exist. I'm tormented on the rack, but I exist, Chad. Though I sit alone on a pillar, I exist. I see the sun, and if I do not see the sun, I know it is there.
Starting point is 00:35:13 And there's a whole life in that, Chad Millman, in knowing that the sun is there. end quote. And Chad, that song came out today. Feels great. It wasn't our turn to have a haunting, crushing season-ending loss. It was two other franchises turns. And it feels really good. Just feels great to not be haunted by the events of tonight's game.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Listen, that was beautiful. I think we still are the most literate betting podcast. Back in the days before TikTok and phones and all that kind of stuff, The only book I would bring with me on the road when I was working was crime and punishment because I felt like if my only option was do my work, go through my notes, start writing my story, or read crime and punishment, I would do the work. So I love that you quoted Dustyevsky on this podcast. And this game felt like both a crime and a punishment. So that's very appropriate. It was. And for the record, I know.
Starting point is 00:36:19 ever got through crown and punishment. So, but that's my point about this game, Simon, is like I, it's not that I believed in Lamar, I believed in, you did. I believe that the coaches were going to put him in better
Starting point is 00:36:33 position. No, no excuse. We had, I tried to beat it into you. You had the bills as a home dog and our friend, Matt Mitchell's team. We believed. We believed in the bills. We believed in Josh Allen. We did not believe in Lamar. And we are reaping rewards. We won.
Starting point is 00:36:49 We won the bet. Even better, the plus two on the Ravens covered. So once again, the early number, man. The books were so sharp this week. I think Evan had a great tweet. All four dogs covered against the closing number. Pretty wild a weekend. And, yeah, like Lamar, you know,
Starting point is 00:37:21 it's to give me the lowest of hanging fruit, just to bash him on it. But it's like, even the offense had to come to realization, Like even Chad knows if, like he even said it, if they just ran the ball, probably are coming out on top in that matchup. And it's two years in a row. I think we could all agree back to back years.
Starting point is 00:37:41 They're the best team, no doubt the AFC all around. Best defense, best offense, all of it. And brutal, nothing to show for it. I mean, you might get three MVPs out of it, which is, you know, that's awesome. That's fun. But that's a fan base that they have two Super Bowls. they want more. And yeah,
Starting point is 00:38:01 just brutal for Lamar that that pick of his is something that just does not happen with him. And, you know, that fumble, I believe, with the sixth of the season, another thing that just does not happen. It all happened within 10 minutes of one another in that game.
Starting point is 00:38:15 And they fought back. Bill's gave them a chance, right? They came out and were not smart in that second half, right? Trying to, like you said, trying to run the clock out for 30 minutes was just idiotic.
Starting point is 00:38:26 But then once they got hit in the mouth, kind of woke back up, Josh Allen, once again, who I thought you'd be MVP, stepped up with this nameless team, and they just went in different ways. And yeah, that's, that was an incredible win and just like a nice cap of an incredible weekend of games and perfect ending of us getting burned on our under at that last second drive. And just, you know, it sucks to go out that way because it was such a fun weekend of games, but it's also what we love doing. We love gambling. it's never over till it's over. It's always his last second sweat. So, yeah, that was, that was a brutal way to cap it. But what, what a game. What a way to end it. And yeah, Josh Allen,
Starting point is 00:39:07 man, holy shit. Awesome week. You know what? You said it right. Awesome weekend of betting. Every, actually I said it right, because I set it up as every, every emotion. Yeah. Every element that you get from the thrill and agony of betting we got in every game. We had no business thinking we were going to cover that under and then we are privileged enough to think we should have covered that under because of the way it ended. That's the beauty of betting. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas, we invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:14 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between. Queen songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending. Opinions are flying. And nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:41:16 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
Starting point is 00:41:40 give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports Slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. more, follow Timbo Slic Life 12 and the TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly, he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
Starting point is 00:42:27 No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success. Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because everything that had existed prior in my reality
Starting point is 00:42:52 is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover The Family Man on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's talk about these conference championship games.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Washington at Philadelphia, it opened at four and a half. I'm seeing a lot of five and a halfs out there already. I bet it at four and a half immediately because I wanted to get it ahead of
Starting point is 00:43:25 news Jalen Hertz would be playing. My sense is that he would have been, that he was going to be. And then he said, I feel confident, so the number I think ticked up a little bit. We don't know for sure. We're just, you know, all we know is that he finished the game,
Starting point is 00:43:38 so he must not have structural damage. He's probably just going to have to play in pain. You know, I don't know if you have a strong opinion about this yet. In week 16, in Washington, the Eagles were four and a half point favorites. In week 11 in Philly, they were four point favorites. Yeah, and it really is a heavy debate right now.
Starting point is 00:44:00 What's the injuries and what's going on on the Eagles team? So lucky for us, you know, we're going to break down two games now for the next two shows we have coming up on Tuesday and Thursday. So obviously so much opinions are going to be made over these next two days. And as we sit here right now, don't really have one. My model likes the Eagles. Like before we came on here, I was talking to you and it's like, okay, let's just see what the computers are thinking here.
Starting point is 00:44:22 It's the same thing with the Rams. It's a flat seven. So once again, just like the Rams, Eagles, I had them at minus seven, have a minus seven again against this Washington team. And that's not that big of a shocker, right? Like, that's the Eagles we talked about. Them and Detroit Lions were not that big of a difference to most professionals when they greened out. That's why the Eagles were a better value heading to this playoffs on Super Bowl future bets
Starting point is 00:44:43 because, you know, they were 500 or plus 500 where Detroit, the books having a plus 250. It was, and, you know, we talked about a little bit that value just seemed off to us just because that Eagles were seen like Eagles in the Lions. So I thought the books had priced the Eagles the same as they did with the Lions. But I think the opening line is kind of showing the books or showing respect to Jane Daniels and how Gravenile offense they are. And the fact that Hertz did get a bum knee in this game. And there is some questions here.
Starting point is 00:45:10 So like you just said, some books, our sponsor here, Beth 365 opened a four and a half. A lot of books now are already moving to five and a half. So it shows early money here, professional money obviously thinks, Eagles are, you know, Jaylon Hertz, egos are fine. You know, both teams have major injuries. Like the commanders lost their best guard. Yeah, he's out. He tore his ACL.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Yeah, he's done for the season. Eagles, you know, Quinna Mitchell, he had his shoulder injury, left the game after that big hit on Stafford, I believe, in the first quarter, never returned. We just talked about a hurts when I have a bum knee. Isaiah Rogers might be banged up another cornerback for the Eagles like, okay, Eagles are now losing their number one starting corner and maybe their backup starting corner.
Starting point is 00:45:53 That's a big deal in your face of someone like Jane Dano. So, yeah, so much a breakdown of this game. My early opinion, obviously, you know, I think there's value in this Eagles team, but I'm not rushing to bet it just because if he is legit banged up, once the adrenaline runs off or wears out from Hertz, and we can actually know what's going on with his knee, that's when I'll take a stand and make a pick here.
Starting point is 00:46:12 But, yeah, if you want to grab the early line, there are four and a halfs up there. If you want to grab Eagles now, just in case the line does me. I think you did, right, Chad? Yeah, I took the four and a half there. I have seven books listed in front of, on the Action Network Odds page, and two of them are at four and a half, three are at five
Starting point is 00:46:31 and a half, and two are at five, including Bet365 is now at five. Everyone opened at four and a half and bet three six five is now five. Yeah, I just bet it because I thought it was going to go up and I'm making a bet that Jalen Hertz is going to play. If he walked off the field, if they let him go back on the field with nothing more than a rap, then I'm assuming there's no structural damage and he's going to be on the field. Like they're going to shoot him up.
Starting point is 00:47:01 He's going to take whatever he needs to take. He's going to be on the field. And I'll beat into your guys head on Tuesday and Thursday show, but it's a unique opportunity, a unique spot. You basically have a rookie in the conference finals. This has only happened five times before. Last time it happened was Brock Purdy against this Eagles team in Philadelphia,
Starting point is 00:47:20 rookies, conference finals, 04-5 straight up. So that's just something. to remember before you bet this game. Brock Purdy did get knocked out of that game after about three plays, I think. The Chiefs open as one and a half point favorites over the Buffalo Bills.
Starting point is 00:47:39 I immediately bet the Chiefs at one and a half. Yeah, you know, I mean, I just broke it down. I learned my lesson last year. I'm telling you that I'm agreeing with you. Yeah, I'm just saying like, there's no, I'm in total agreements with you. There's no shock here. You're agreeing with me.
Starting point is 00:47:56 ever the chiefs were going to be as long as they were going to be under three i was going to be on them if it's if it ever got up to three plus three how do you not take josh on at a plus three against this chief's team like this is going to be what we expect what we just saw with that raven's game last possession ball in hand chance the winner tie either quarterback is going to have that opportunity just does not feel like a type of game that gets blown out and you know we just nailed the bill's teaser or seven and a half you can do it once again you want to take the the bills up to seven and a half right now the books are letting you they're giving you the one and a half hook right here so um yeah early bets i'm with chat i'm i'm taking chiefs right now and same thing i modeled this out
Starting point is 00:48:37 it's minus two and a half so right now technically you're getting good value on this chiefs so you know to me this is that's the move to make right now i like i like the value in this chiefs and i do think professionals are joining us on this one just because um i maybe the public have come around the chiefs because of that last game, but I still feel like there's so much doubt in the media and a lot of people, the way they view this chiefs team, they're not that good. And yeah, it's hard.
Starting point is 00:49:04 As much as I love Josh Allen, now we have to finally go against him, it's hard. But me and Chad, I think we both agree. We've learned our lesson. It's Mahomes under three in the playoffs. You've got to take them here. Yeah, I mean, Mahomes is an underdog of lesson three. As an underdog period, as a favorite of lesson three.
Starting point is 00:49:21 The line when they last played in Buffalo was two and a half, by the way. What do you think of this total before we hop off? Do you look at it? I haven't even looked at it yet. 48 and a half. Feels high. Crazy high for Arrowhead. Feels really high for Arrowhead.
Starting point is 00:49:37 And two running teams. In January and two running teams. Let's be real. These two quarterbacks, they barely got to 52. Yeah. In this Buffalo Baltimore game. And Baltimore has had a much more explosive offense than Kansas City all year long. That's interesting.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Yeah, it definitely was like the first thing I jumped out. I mean, as much as I obviously am jumping on this chiefs number, yeah, that was just something that jumped out where it's like a key number of 40 and a half. I'm just going to take the under now and then we'll see where the market goes. But yeah, for early bets, Chad took a stand on the Eagles game. I got nothing on that one yet. But for this one, I'm definitely chiefs in the under in my first. instinct to go with this one.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Exciting. I mean, I'm so sad. We only got three games left, but what a great fucking weekend of just sitting on the couch. My wife did say to me, by the way, I predicted. My wife said to me, Friday morning, hey, can we go out with so-and-so on Saturday night? I'm like, I got to watch the games. I got to work. She goes, yeah, you got to work watching football.
