Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms.
Starting point is 00:01:08 So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips.
Starting point is 00:01:18 This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:01:38 And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was funny. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Then after that game seven, Marquis come in. He's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This week on Crimless, Rory and I welcome a very special guest. When I would do it a podcast, I wear my sleep masks.
Starting point is 00:02:12 I like where this is going. So if you guys will indulge me. That's right, the incredibly talented and hilarious Will Ferrell on an episode dedicated to crimes committed by people named Will Ferrell. You're good for 300 crimes? Yeah. We got two. I'm ready to go right up to present day. Listen to Crimless on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRadio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. Listening to Fox Sports Radio. Here we go. It is a Monday. We are raring to go live in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah, I got a cold, but colds are for whims, baby. Who's missing on Monday? Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, thanks for making us part of your day. J. Mack, so you have been on me for about a month with my devotion to Andy Reed and Patrick Mahomes. And, you know, last year, and we talked about this, Kansas City was 11 and 0 in these one-score games.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And we were like, that's kind of random. Well, their own four this year. So let's start with this. Listen, there is a thread. There is a trend. When Kansas City loses, it's usually not the defense or a drop pass or the run game. It's because Patrick Mahomes is, uncomfortable. Last night, Kansas City was terrible on third down. Dominated time of
Starting point is 00:04:06 possession. Only got 16 first downs. Mahomes hit 15 times. This is why they've been blown out in a couple Super Bowls. Josh Allen, conversely, 23 of 26, because Josh Allen was comfortable all night and Mahomes was never comfortable for three and a half hours. That defensive front, Joey Bosa, That's why they signed him. He's a pain in the butt, and Andy Reid knows it last night. So there is a way to beat Kansas City. When they lose, and sometimes they lose ugly, Mahomes is getting hit. Now, it's not all roses and rainbows for Buffalo, okay?
Starting point is 00:04:48 Kansas City lost 2821 and had the ball late. Trade deadline tomorrow. Buffalo needs to go out and upgrade. This was an instructive win. Kansas City probably is just going to get healthier up front, going to cross their fingers a little. Buffalo's got a hole. They got a hole.
Starting point is 00:05:09 But there is a trend when Mahomes this year is hit seven times or more. They're one in three. And so last night's a great example. It felt like one of those games we've watched them lose in the Super Bowl where he's not comfortable. He doesn't trust his own line. He lets go with the ball early. and he still almost pulled it out.
Starting point is 00:05:28 But if you're Buffalo, just think about this. Josh Allen's nearly perfect. You run for 140 yards. You're at home. You're perfect in the red zone. You dominate time of possession. You win the turnover battle.
Starting point is 00:05:45 And Mahomes had the ball late going for the tie. So again, not all losses are awful losses and not all wins, mean you've solved everything. I watched Buffalo and my takeaway is, how does Kansas City have a chance to tie this game? They got punched in the forehead for three and a half hours and we're moving the ball down the field.
Starting point is 00:06:07 I mean, that stuff was nightmare fuel for Buffalo. Late years you're thinking, oh, we're not going to do it again after they clank the field goal. So the one thing, though, we kept saying last year, Kansas City, Philadelphia was the best team last year. I think right now there's an argument the L.A. Rams are the best team for the second straight year. the best teams over in the NFC, not the AFC.
Starting point is 00:06:27 AFC's got the better quarterbacks. I think the NFC's got the better teams. But last year, this team was unbeaten 11-0 in one-score games. And now they're 0-4. The only team worst, the league's the Texans. So that's your company. So the last two years, Kansas City's had a hole on that offensive line. They had to let go Joe Tooney this year.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Joe Tooney's now a bear. So Buffalo, don't pat yourself in the back. Howie Roseman's already made a move. Go upgrade wide receiver. Go upgrade wide receiver. You beat him. It doesn't mean you're going to beat him in January. Here's Patrick Mahomes on the loss.
Starting point is 00:07:08 We've had great moments. We've had bad moments. We've got to be more consistent as a team. I've got to be more consistent than quarterback. We've got to be able to battle. I mean, we've kind of been in a lot of these tight, close games in our history, but they're not going our way now. So how can we deal with that adversity?
Starting point is 00:07:22 how can we be better and learn from it? I mean, you only learn from so many losses. I mean, you got to learn from it fast. And it's going to be an uphill battle when we get back. But I think our guys are up to it. Yeah, again, there are not every win solves all your issues. Learn from stuff. I want to talk about the Chicago Bears.
Starting point is 00:07:42 So much in life and in sports is just getting slightly better. I always tell my kids that. You don't have to take big swings. You can hit a lot of singles and doubles in life. just get a little better. Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears football operation just keeps getting a little better. They lose that game last year. Five wins this year already matches last year and four of the five have been ugly.
Starting point is 00:08:08 They are winning ugly. Who cares? They're winning. Last Friday, I said, I like Chicago in this game because when Caleb gets a run game, like he did against Dallas or Cincinnati, he's very effective. He doesn't throw picks. He didn't in high school. And in college, he doesn't in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:08:23 So he's maintained that. He's not throwing picks. They had a run game yesterday. Last year, they were atrocious in one-score games. They were three and seven. This year, they're three-in-one. There is an art to winning ugly. Kansas City did it last year.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Now, you're not going to keep doing it year after year after year. But Kansas City was great at those close games. This year, they're not for a variety of reasons. So the Bears' offense right now, is fourth in the NFL, believe it or not. And Ben Johnson yesterday, four different bears through a pass. He's gotten into his tricks. You know what it tells me when Ben Johnson now is using more tricks?
Starting point is 00:09:03 Is that Ben Johnson now is more confident in the base operation. That's what it tells me. Ben's like, okay, now I can do some tricks. Now we can get a little fancy. Ben didn't want to do that quite as much early because he didn't trust the foundational stuff. But yesterday they ran for over 280 yards. It was a real offense. Now, the defense has major holes.
Starting point is 00:09:25 This is not a Super Bowl team. They got to solve the defense. But I have said before, when the season started, I said, do not get paralyzed by the Chicago Bears win loss record. I think I had them at eight wins. I said, number one, you got to cut the sacks in half. Well, last year through eight games, 29 sacks. This year, they've cut it in half. So again, this is not rocket science.
Starting point is 00:09:50 They're running the ball better. they're taking fewer sacks. They're winning the turnover battle. It's not science. A lot of this stuff is, can you just look like a grown-up adult business? Just improve a little. And not only year to year of the bears improve, but every week, now they're using a few more tricks. Now they've got a little more confidence.
Starting point is 00:10:12 So between Ben Johnson's brain power and Caleb's brain and horsepower, it's a real football team. there's going to be with Caleb there's going to be wow moments here's the walk off touchdown mostly walk off to Colston Loveland Benoong's motion left they're blitzing it's picked up Caleb throws middle of the field Lovelin catch breaks away
Starting point is 00:10:34 the 30 Lovellent 20 Lovell 10 Lovelin end zone Touchdown Bears Colston Lovelin on a throw by Caleb Williams on the blitz with 17 seconds to go now They shouldn't have needed that touchdown the win because they gave one up on the other side as Joe Flacco threw for almost five football fields.
Starting point is 00:10:56 But that's okay. I mean, yesterday is a great example. I mean, go look at the Raiders' Jags games. I mean, go look at around the NFL. The Colts all year pushed people around. Yesterday they got worked. You don't know. I mean, Denver literally wins only one way in the fourth quarter, constantly trailing.
Starting point is 00:11:14 So you can't worry about it. The bottom line is this was going to be a shootout. The Bears defense gives up a ton of yards per play, and the Bengals was atrocious. But so much in life and in sports is just getting a little better. There's a lot of singles and doubles out there. That's to me what I see from the operation. It's what I see from Caleb.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Ben Johnson now more trick plays has a little more confidence, more sets, more motion, more looks. That's what it looks like to me. Here's Caleb after. Speaking to coach throughout the week, we knew that this is an explosive offense. They can score at any moment. They can score it. He said it before the game, a day before the game or so that we get up by two touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Don't feel good or comfortable. The guys after the game, it doesn't matter that they put up how many ever points they put up. We're all excited for this win. This is a big moment for us, you know, to be able to go into this next quarter of the season. The one thing I'll always say about Caleb Williams, he is a thick, strong kid. So he doesn't get hurt and he doesn't throw a lot of picks. He's got, you know, he's got a big arm for his size. I'm actually taller than him.
Starting point is 00:12:25 He's not a real tall guy, but you never think about his height because he plays so big. He's thick. He's got a huge arm. He plays with a ton of confidence. He missed a couple of layup yesterday. He missed a couple of easy ones. He's completing about 61% of his throws. That's not his bread and butter.
Starting point is 00:12:42 He's kind of the opposite of Kirk Cousins, right? You're not going to get the easy stuff. But the ceiling, he'll blow through it, you know, four times a game. But you've got to feel good. They're better. They've got a quarterback. It's not very often we say in a Monday, I love the Bears offense. I don't know what's going on in Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Don't say that a lot over the last 30 years. But the Bears offense is getting better and the Packers offense is completely lost. And we'll talk about that. J. Mack from the World Series, which is the best I've ever seen, to, you know, this league is so funky. You just, like the Colts yesterday, totally worked. Lions, Vikings was weird. I have my thoughts on the Packers.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And I've always defended Matt LaFleure. But I'll say this again. I think the Rams are the best team in the NFC. I think we pay so much. And I think Howie Roseman, the GM of Philadelphia making moves, he knows it. So that Rams win over the Saints. No, that's not it. when the Saints had the ball for 16 minutes.
Starting point is 00:13:47 No, what it is, though, in a league of upsets and weird finishes, that was the most predictable game. From the first series on, it was like workman-like. Game over, yeah. And the other thing is the Rams have an identity. The Bears are starting to find an identity. The bills last night, run the ball, pass rush, have an identity. Packers don't.
Starting point is 00:14:07 So this is a time of the year where, you know, because these games get close, you don't have a full roster, everybody's beat up. There are no perfectly healthy teams. So what do you do when you're missing five starters? This is why San Francisco is winning. They have an identity. They're all beat up. But when you don't have a full roster or your backup quarterback,
Starting point is 00:14:25 okay, guys, this is what we are. San Francisco is Christian McCaffrey. This is what we are. The Packers don't have an identity. They didn't punt yesterday. They went up and down the field. Just a lot of mistakes, which led me to believe, remember we talked about it being a trap game last week against Aaron Rogers,
Starting point is 00:14:40 next week against the Eagles in prime time. And this is the lowly Panthers, who Panthers have, I think, the same number of wins as the Kansas City Chiefs. Something close to that. Like, the Panthers, are they good? Rice Young had 100 yards passing. I said on Friday. I said on Friday show, watch out for the Panthers.
Starting point is 00:14:58 I had a feeling it was a trap game. And if you watch Carolina's defense, you know, when you have high draft picks year after year after year, you got dudes. Yeah. Like they got some receivers now. That Tucker Kraft injury for the Packers. Brutal. That's a big one. Brutal.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Becoming a tight end league, two tight ends, three tight ends. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington from The Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio. And in addition to hearing us live weeknights from 7 to 10 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports Radio, we are excited to announce brand new YouTube channel for the show. That's right. You can now watch the Odd Couple live on YouTube every day. All you got to do, search Odd Couple FSR on YouTube. Again, YouTube, just search Odd Couple FSR.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Check us out on YouTube and subscribe. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:16:05 We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come? up with a name Hey Jonas, guys. I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
Starting point is 00:17:03 help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:17:22 or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:17:41 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves. I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:18:00 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He's running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp
Starting point is 00:18:16 with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy
Starting point is 00:18:30 who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself.
Starting point is 00:18:43 And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hippocrat, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream and chicken suit.
Starting point is 00:19:14 This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura podcast network available on the I-Fart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.
Starting point is 00:19:39 This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for, for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole. This podcast is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. You know, it's funny. Everybody wants me to love their young quarterback. I love Drake May. I think Michael Pennix is really good. You know, I love Bo Nix.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Caleb's coming around. I feel terrible for Jaden Daniels, injured again. J.J. McCarthy, I feel like at Michigan, as like, they're not asking them to do much. And everybody this morning is like, well, what do you think of J.J. McCarthy? Bo Nix is on a six-game winning streak. Statistically, he's the best fourth quarter quarterback in the league. And you all keep telling me he stinks.
Starting point is 00:21:05 My take on J.J. McCarthy, he was good on script. First quarter, 141 passer rating. The rest of the game is pass rating was 38. I'm buying the coach, Kevin O'Connell. I'm buying Justin Jefferson. I buy the left tackle Christian Darrisow. But J.J. McCarthy, I felt like I was watching Michigan, J.J. McCarthy. Don't screw it up and make one big throw.
Starting point is 00:21:27 So Kevin O'Connell has made Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold look like first ballot Hall of Famers. I don't have a lot of games. I got three games. And again, when I watch him, I gave Caleb Williams credit when he was very good on script. J.J. McCarthy on script with this brilliant head coach and Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and this Pro Bowl left tackle. He's very good on script and he deserves credit for it. But I don't have a lot. You know what it felt like? It felt like a Michigan game where the Vikings had more rush yards than passing yards. The story of the game used to be Michigan's defense,
Starting point is 00:22:05 not their offense, and it was Minnesota's defense, which wrecked Detroit's offensive line. And at the end of the game, J.J. McCarthy made one great third down throw. I felt like I was watching Michigan's J.J. McCarthy. By the way, in both of his wins, he's won 27 to 24. He's thrown for exactly 143 passing yards. He's had two TDs and one pick. I feel like I'm watching the Michigan version. Now, with this coach and this left tackle and these receivers, that could be good enough to be a playoff team. but at Michigan, I loved Harbaugh, I love the defense, and I love Colston Loveland. That's how I feel.
Starting point is 00:22:43 He's like the UPS driver. I don't know who he is, but they always deliver on time. The package is never screwed up. I love the delivery system. I don't know if the UPS driver is any good. Seems like a nice guy. So it just felt a lot like the Michigan J.J. McCarthy, which is, I love the coach at Michigan and the tight end and the defense.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And that's what I felt. yesterday. It was fine. He was good on script, but it's not a script league. You know, and I said that about Caleb. It's great. He's coachable. But you get 13 possessions. 11 are not on script. And here's J.J. McCarthy after the win over Detroit. We really played very well on all three phases, but there's a lot of meat on the bone in all three phases. So we got to go back to work and, you know, make sure we correct all the little things. I'm happy that we got the win, but I'm not proud, to be honest, you. There's a lot of meat on the bone and I feel like I could have played a lot better,
Starting point is 00:23:39 but coming into this environment and, you know, controlling my emotions, controlling, you know, kind of my temperament going into it. I was proud of that. Yeah, and perfect. That's exactly what he should have said. Perfect. He won. It was a road game. I will say this. Brian Flores, I hope he got a game ball because, I mean, Detroit's offense, Goff got sacked five times, hit another 11. I think Minnesota had 10 tackles for losses. They just blew up the Lions run game. Now, Leporta was great.
Starting point is 00:24:12 He always is. Amaran St. Brown. The game ball felt like a lot of these Michigan games. I'm giving it to the coach and the defense, but that's okay. It's a win. It's on the road. It's in division.
Starting point is 00:24:23 You're good on the podium after. You made a one big throw in the third. But you guys still hating on Bo Nix. He's on a heater. He's like Brady. the fourth quarter, you still don't like him. So I just need to see more. J. Mack with the news.
Starting point is 00:24:36 No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. If I'm chugging vitamin C with a turmeric today, I do apologize. A little turmeric action to start today. Like it. All right, Colin, let's go with Seattle Seahawks last night. Absolutely destroyed the Washington commanders.
Starting point is 00:24:54 This was one of those rare primetime beatdowns on the road. I mean, they were up 28 nothing in this in no-time flat. Sam Darnold, 16 of 16 in the first half. By the way, how about those Seahawks throwback jerseys? You had to love those. First of all, John Snyder's the GM. Just ask yourself, watching this game, did it not feel like a power four team in college playing an out-a-conference game? Like, Seattle was so much faster and so much bigger.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Now, there were backups playing for Washington at key spots, but this was my worst-blazing five pick of the year. Even when I lose, I usually feel I'm on the right side. You can tell early. Oh, second drive. You're like, oh, Sam is just playing pitch and catch. JSN, is he the best receiver? I think right now he's the best receiver in the league. I mean, I know Justin Jefferson's awesome and Chase is awesome.
Starting point is 00:25:41 But this guy's getting open, and he's their top guy by a mile. Every defense knows we got to stop JSN, and he's getting open. He is real. I'm telling you, I said it after this draft. It was the second draft in a row that I thought arguably Seattle had the best draft, John Snyder. And they look the part. and they're young.
Starting point is 00:26:00 They're Green Bay level young, so they're going to get better and better. So Mike McDonald, whose team is one of the best in the NFC, let's be real. He's really proud of Sam Donald. Believe me when I said, I'm not surprised.
Starting point is 00:26:12 We watch Sam every day on how he operates, and he's the same guy every day, which is what you love about him, and we're chasing it. The guys are determined, and it's fun to watch. And when the team comes together, that's this type of stuff that you can do.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Seattle is bizarrely dominant on the road. Yeah, well, I was just going to know. As a young team. At home against Arizona's short week, could be Kyla Murray back. But this Seattle team's interesting. I'm going to give you something. This is better than your Broncos call last year. Because I don't think anybody had this Seattle team being this good.
Starting point is 00:26:50 Colin, right now we saw the Packers lose, the Lions lose. I know you love the Rams right now, but I think Seattle's really a dangerous team. That defense is. So Seattle would be my first. Fifth year in a row that I took a team to make the playoffs that nobody doubted, and I did it because of John Snyder. I didn't do it just because of Darnold. Darnold's obviously much better than Gino Smith.
Starting point is 00:27:08 He always has been, but that's not the case. I love the draft. You love the draft. And I think Seattle's last couple drafts, I said this, Pete Carroll and John Snyder, there was a lot of, that wasn't a healthy relationship at the end. Now John runs the drafts. They have hit on, I mean, they have, those last three years.
Starting point is 00:27:29 And there's seven or eight GMs I talk to. John is one of the sharp guys. But boy, when you watch this team, they've got that Royal, the Tide-N, J-S-N, these guys are only getting better. Remember, they moved off Metcalfe and Lockett. It was like, oh, I don't know, what are they doing? I mean, they were pushing all the right buttons.
Starting point is 00:27:44 It looks like when they come to the line, they look like a running team. And the next thing you know, like five guys go out in patterns and you're like, oh, my gosh. Seattle's dangerous, man. One of the most lob-sided road, standalone game wins I can remember. I mean, that being said, Washington is,
Starting point is 00:27:58 feels like a dead team. I thought that last week. We don't want to talk too much about Washington, but is Quinn in trouble right now? No, but what you start to wonder, and this is fair to say, the injury was brutal. That's the fourth injury in two years for Jaden Daniels. And what concerns me is when your college issue or concern becomes your pro issue, remember Johnny Mansell, you're like, he's kind of small and he's kind of immature. And then he comes to the NFL, and he's really small and immature.
Starting point is 00:28:25 The question what Jaden was, he's really thin and Kenney and Burr. doer. That was the only question about him. Everybody loved him, but he is thin. And we're seeing him now, I mean, he's clearly a great talent. But so much of this league was Farr of an Eli Manning and Brady, you know, everybody's playing hurt. That injury is really gruesome. You like when Joe Alt's out, you don't bet the Chargers. When Terry McLaren's out, don't bet the Washington commander. They have nothing on offense. Let's move on to the Rams. Sticking in the NFC, West Collin. They came out of the by week. And I mean, this was another destruction. and they paced the Saints.
Starting point is 00:28:59 It was not really close at all. Puka and Kua with a great catch. Here's a weird thing. I didn't even realize this. So Matt Stafford's odds in the MVP rankings are climbing significantly. Another four touchdown effort, 281 yards passing.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Here's Jared Verst saying, hey, after watching the Dodgers win, yeah, we got something to say. Watching them be able to dominate like that and get that win, bring that well-says back to L.A. It gets us hyped up, and now we know we got to be next. There you go.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Yeah, it's easy to say, well, the Saints stink. But this league, we saw Tampa go down to the wire and trail the Saints and then come back. I mean, that's the NFL. It's a very close league. I think they're the best team. I think they're the most complete team. And I love Stafford. There are times in his career he could be a bit reckless.
Starting point is 00:29:46 He's ironed out the reckless. I mean, Devonte Adams, George Pickens and Devante Adams were two wide receiver pickups. They have both been unbelievable. unbelievable pickups by the Cowboys and the Rams. Yeah, I mean, listen, this Rams team's totally complete. I don't see a weakness other than special teams, Colin. Let's be careful. Their kicker missed a field goal at an extra point.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I did note he's got four missed field goals a season. I think they drafted him out of Stanford. You don't need that crap in the postseason, okay? In the playoff games where it matters, you need to trust your guy. So that would be the one weakness that I saw. By the way, this New Orleans Saints ran 40 place. and had the ball for 16 minutes. That's a bad team.
Starting point is 00:30:29 By the most dominating performance of the year by a team. I don't disagree. I don't disagree. I like it. Final story, calling the Atlanta Falcons went to New England. This was actually quite a good game. A bit of a crazy fourth quarter. So let's highlight this play right here.
Starting point is 00:30:43 So it was a huge third down. Michael Pennix thinks he got them to jump. And then he decides, I'm just going to dirt it. Okay, we got the flag. No, there was no flag. And he was called for intentional grounding. Brutal. So they were faced with fourth and fourth and 20,
Starting point is 00:30:59 and they decided to punt they don't get the ball back. So afterward, Rahim Morris says New England, there were some shenanigans going on they claim. Here's Rahim Morris. They did a nice job. They simulated a snap. The ball came early. It was snapped early within that snap.
Starting point is 00:31:15 That was when we got the intentional grounding. Nice job by those guys. They were clapping and simulated our snap. Got us to snap the ball. And that's what the ball was snapped early in Mike when he wasn't ready for the snap. Now, of course, people have dug into the video and there's no clapping. Well, that's your job as a quarterback to identify that. You can't blame the Patriots.
Starting point is 00:31:33 You have to identify that. And again, I'm not going to crush panics. He's a young kid. How many times has he started? You're on the road. Yeah. So, I mean, this game comes down to the kicker missed a PAT. Falcons.
Starting point is 00:31:46 They've blown two games because of kickers. I'll tell you, there are parts of this team I love. Drake London's insane. He was so good. God, he's so good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bijon Robinson, weirdly back-to-back, strange non-factor games after he cooked the bills. I don't know what to make of the Falcons.
Starting point is 00:32:01 They drop two, three, and five. They're now behind the Panthers in the division. Look at, I mean, it's funny these divisions. Kansas City is what, five and four. Denver is seven and two, and I think Denver's hosting them this week. I mean, that is a... Denver has Raiders and that... Oh, so Denver has the Chiefs in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Okay. So there's a trap, potential trap game against the Raiders Thursday night. I'll have some plenty. I've already bet the game. I have a lot of stuff on that. But, yeah, tough one for the Falcons. Patriots, by the way, did not look amazing. No, again, young quarterback, we said it.
Starting point is 00:32:37 They have so many new starters. I think it's remarkable that they are playing as well as they are. I thought they'd win 10 games. They could win 14, 13. Colin, they go to Tampa this week. They are underdogs. Tampa off a buy. Denver is seven and two.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Their next two games are at home than a buy. Yeah. No, Denver's in good shape. I don't. I picked them to win the division. They're not winning the AFC. I picked him to win the AFC West. That was my pick.
Starting point is 00:33:05 You better be careful. Some of these teams may be putting you on blast on social media with these predictions. You saw the Buffalo Bills, huh? J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. So, you know, it's, it's, uh, I would vote.
Starting point is 00:33:24 vote Aaron Rogers into the Hall of Fame, obviously first ballot. He's one of the 12 best quarterbacks I've ever seen. I always thought he was better than Farr. I thought he was more of the thinking man's quarterback, a few, made fewer mistakes. So I always liked Aaron a little bit more than Fav. He can drive me nuts, a little projecting here and passive aggressive stuff. I don't think that's great leadership, blah, blah, blah. But when Aaron was in his prime in Green Bay with a great organization, it was impressive, obviously. I'm so blown away what he's doing in Pittsburgh. This has been a dysfunctional offense for seven years. Last year, Pittsburgh was 29th in the red zone offensively. Now they're top 10. Yeah, T.J. Watt in the defense knocked around Daniel Jones.
Starting point is 00:34:06 They've done that 30 times in five years. But I mean, Aaron Rogers and Sam Darnold are not the same player. Now they've left the Jets. When I watched Aaron at the Jets, I thought he was old. I had set on the air, I'm like, go to Minnesota or retire. Dude, you look old. Aaron looks nimble. It's like, I don't know if it's ayahuasca or whatever. I don't know what it is. Aaron is moving great. His body language is good. He's top 10 in touchdowns, completion percentage, passer rating.
Starting point is 00:34:38 You can say, oh, it was our defense. Give me a break. In the two big Steeler wins, the Colts in New England, they got 11 takeaways. That's nonsense. That's not going to happen in big games. This Steeler team is all about Aaron. It's all, don't, don't, don't talk about the defense. Your defense does this.
Starting point is 00:34:58 It's still not a very good defense. The Steelers offensive line and pass protection right now is mid. They average 1.7 yards a rush. I could fall down and average that. You could too. So the O line's not very good, especially in past protection. The run game's not very good. And despite what you saw yesterday, the defense isn't very good.
Starting point is 00:35:20 This team is going to go as far as Aaron Rogers can take them. And right now, do you know he's on track to complete 68% of his throws and have 36 touchdowns? That is better than that amazing Brett Favier with the Vikings. It's better than that. So I think the credit does not go to the defense or Mike Tomlin or the run game. It goes completely to Aaron Rogers. This was a dysfunctional tone-deaf relic, a dinosaur of an offense. they're good in the red zone
Starting point is 00:35:53 I mean they're high completion percentage move the chains I mean yesterday you know T.J. Watt doing what T.J. Watt does but none of it matters if Aaron's not completing 25 or 35 and moving the chains. Here was
Starting point is 00:36:10 Aaron after a surprising to many win. This was a really important win for us though to not lose three in a row to not go to one and three at home and to kind of get that big elephant that was starting to try and jump on the backs of their defense, which is made up of media
Starting point is 00:36:33 and, you know, outside conversation about them. So we're all human, and I think those guys you felt, you know, pretty upset at little red ass about what's been going on. So I'm proud of them. The way they came back and responded. Also, another instructive win.
Starting point is 00:36:52 If you're Pittsburgh, I think you have to look at the running back position. I think the bills need to get another receiver. Don't patch yourself in the back because you beat Kansas City. I think give Aaron another running back. Old quarterbacks are always better with the run game. The Rams are running the football very well. Stafford looks amazing. So I thought both the Steelers and the bills, very impressive wins.
Starting point is 00:37:18 It is amazing. You leave the New York Jets. Sam Darnold is the highest-rated passer, I think, in the league, and Aaron looks fantastic. He looked old last year. He's looking good. And don't kid yourself about the defense yesterday. It's not a great defense. This is not a great defense.
Starting point is 00:37:37 All right. Best World Series I've ever seen. And I think, Colin right, calling right, calling wrong, top of the hour. I think I've figured out the Packers problems because they got problems. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:38:07 We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we, how do we actually? actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys. I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:38:23 We were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, for people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:38:51 or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day

Starting point is 00:39:26 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:39:43 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves. I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nasree. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:40:03 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shake my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. Starting point is 00:41:30 Hey, I'm Jordanano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Starting point is 00:41:54 Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream. a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Pulura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Listen, just because we have better weather, all our teams win championships and people are handsome and tan year round, it's no reason to hate Los Angeles. 26 million people minimum watch the World Series. The final rating comes in tomorrow. My guess is it's $27 or $28 million. You know, just everybody doesn't like the rich guy, right?
Starting point is 00:42:52 For the record, the Mets, Phillies, and Yankees are just shy of a billion dollars of payroll this year. They want a combined one playoff series, the Mets, Phillies, and Yankees. There's a lot of team spending money. For all those that get worked up about the Dodgers money, it was 36-year-old, zero-time all. All-Star on retirement's door, Miguel Rojas, game 7 ninth inning that actually saved the season. Here it is. Playoff. Drilled to left field and deep pass.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Dave Roberts played his gut. The guy hadn't had a hit in a month. And in the ninth inning of game seven, he's hit a time home run. also made a key defensive play. Again, Miggies on the doorstep of retirement. And Dave Roberts pulled the right lever. Oh, there's also defensive replacement. Andy Pahez, this happened, take a watch.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Has fresh into the ball games. Center fielder makes the play of the night in left field. Just absolutely unbelievable. We're not done. Will Smith, who caught 73 innings in the World Series, including all of the 18-inning game, he did this. Smith, it's a high-fly ball to deep left field. It's got a chance.
Starting point is 00:44:49 It is gone. It's Will Smith in game seven. And in the 11th inning of game seven, the Dodgers lead for the first time. Will Smith, Miguel Rojas, Andy Paez. Yes, Yoshi's the best pitcher in baseball. But when the Yankees were dominating, they had Clemens and Cohn and the great Andy Petit and All-Stars. They were winning the Hot Stove League.
Starting point is 00:45:15 For the record, Rojas is the 14th highest player on the team. They moved Will Smith up in the batting order. Dave Roberts made all the right moves. For the record, the Dodgers won game six. Why? Due to a bad base running mistake by the Jays. and they beat the Phillies on a walk-off error by Philadelphia. So yes, the Dodgers, like a great football team, if you fumble, they'll score.
Starting point is 00:45:44 All right? You air ball it, they'll take it to the other end of the floor and dunk on you. You can't make mistakes, but the Dodgers don't make many. Here's Dave Roberts after back-to-back World Series crowns. Right now, I'm just really elated and really proud of our team, our guys, the way we fought. We've done something that hasn't been done in decades. And, you know, there were so many, as we talked earlier, so many pressure points and how that game could have flipped.
Starting point is 00:46:10 And we just kept fighting. And, you know, guys stepped up big. So I could just go on and on about, you know, the big place, the big performances. And, you know, this is one of the greatest games I've ever been a part of. And this whole series and what the Blue Jays did and they gave us everything they had and just such a first class organization. Yeah, I mean, Toronto out hit the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:46:29 But the Dodgers outpitched them. and in crucial situations, the Dodgers were the better team. They were the better base running team. They were the better defensive team in crucial situations. That's all these playoff series come down to. Great hitting is going to be great pitching will beat great hitting. And the Dodgers had the best pitcher easily. You go back and look at all those, you know, Jeter and Posada and Bernie.
Starting point is 00:46:53 No, it was Mariano Rivera closing out games. And the starting pitching for the Yankees was fantastic. I mean, last year, when Garrett, Cole pitched against the Dodgers. Yankees looked like as good or the better team. So yes, they made a big bid on Yoshi. Several teams did. I said it last week. He paid for himself and then some.
Starting point is 00:47:14 In the World Series alone, Yoshi is four and oh. He is more than paid for himself. And you get what you pay for. All right, the Green Bay Packers. It's a bit of a mess. Listen, they wore those leather helmets, those fake leather helmets. They took the game too literally. Their offense looked like something from the 50s.
Starting point is 00:47:31 They never punted. They rushed for over 100 yards. And they lost at home 16 to 13. And Bryce Young for Carolina didn't even play particularly well. So my takeaway is Green Bay, and this is a problem, they don't know what they are. They didn't even punt. They don't know what they are. Jim Harbaugh, you knew what the Chargers were second game in.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Sean Payton has already made a brand. for the Denver Broncos. We are great late. You may lead. We're unbelievable. We are a fourth quarter team. And I'm not saying it's easy, but it is essential. What are the Packers? They want to run. That's Matt Lefleur's id. It's, it's, it's his DNA. But they're not great at running. They can get yards, but it's empty calories. I think I would just give the offense to Jordan love and let him rip. But, um, I mean, they, it's, It's weird. They beat the Vikings soundly. They beat the Steelers soundly, but they lost to Cleveland and lost at home to Carolina and tied Dallas. So they have got to form an identity. And you can
Starting point is 00:48:43 blame anybody you want right now. But the best teams in this league, like Philadelphia, AJ Brown didn't play, Philadelphia's offense looked great. Why? Because AJ Brown gets in the way of the Eagles identity. They're a physical run first offense. offense. A.J. Brown's a distraction. That's why I've said, move it. Green Bay doesn't know what they are. So it's not, you could say, well, they're young. Seattle's almost as young. Seattle has an identity. Run first, big swings downfield and a fast, aggressive defense. I'm telling you, man, it doesn't matter what business you work in. It can be football or anything else. What are you? And I just, I don't know what Green Bay is right now.
Starting point is 00:49:31 is Matt Lafleur on the home loss of the Panthers. We've had penalties. We obviously had a fumble on the first drive. We had three possessions in the first half, a nine-play drive, a nine-play drive, and a ten-play drive. And we had six points. So it's going to be tough if we can't figure out and score in the red area. It's just going to be tough to win football games like that. So here is my issue.
Starting point is 00:50:00 They have the fifth highest run rate in the last. league. That's Matt LaFleur's DNA. He wants to run the ball. Yet they're 24th in yards per carry. So they just don't, they're not a good run team. They're better finesse. They're better with Jordan Love moving around, making plays downfield. Now Tucker Kraft is out for the year officially. Brutal. Great kid, great player. Played it South Dakota, the Jack Rabbits was a great college player, just a football player. I think he played, you know, fullback and linebacker in high school. He goes to South Dakota, and then he goes to Green Bay. He's a marvelous player, so it is becoming more of a tight end league. I think he's a fairly capable blocker. He's out for the year.
Starting point is 00:50:43 Now, they got Musgrave. They have another tight end who's very solid. But I think this all the time. The teams I like, and as you get closer to Thanksgiving, do you know what you are. And it's not easy. Some coaches, you know, Harbaughes do it real quick, John and Jim. I think Sean Payton and Denver has really figured it out is that, listen, we're going to be a great late team. We are going to be really good late. We're never out of it. We take big swings. We're very aggressive. But a Green Bay, I watch them, and they don't punt. They ran for 100 yards. They got it, they had, you know, they're just not terribly effective in key spots in the game. Now, I don't think Carolina's awful. I think you're thinking Carolina's bad. I thought the line was quirky. I said Friday,
Starting point is 00:51:27 this is going to be a close game. This is a trap game for Green Bay. Watch out. I set it Friday. I almost put it in the blazing five. I didn't, should have. But that's where we are today. When you watch them play, what do you think they are? No, it's a good point. I think they missed the kid Reid. Jaden Reed. Remember, they lost him with the broken collarbone earlier this season. He's just an awesome talent. He can do, he's like a Swiss army knife. Lime him in the backfield slot out wide. They miss him. But the Kraft injury leads me to believe you're right. I don't know what can they be a running team with Josh Jacobs? Craft is a great blocking tight end. he didn't go nuts yesterday, Jacobs.
Starting point is 00:52:02 It's a tough one because a week ago we said the Packers. Yeah, Colin. They're the best in the NFC. And now it's like you lose. They lost to the Browns and the lost to the Panthers, both by three. I'm like, what? I mean, one of the reasons the Lions' loss was so surprising because the Lions' identity is punishing you up front and the Vikings punish them.
Starting point is 00:52:21 So it's like, just because you have an identity, doesn't mean you have it every Sunday. It's hard to create it, harder to maintain it. And I think Green Bay is a little lost offensively. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin.
Starting point is 00:52:38 And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Starting point is 00:52:52 Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. don't care where you hear it. Starting point is 00:53:36 And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow.
Starting point is 00:53:52 Then after that Game 7, Mark keep coming to you. He's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players
