This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan,
so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of,
of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every
weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station

Oh, what a Friday show.
We have planned lots to talk about Big Energy Friday live in Los Angeles.
It's the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening.
Thanks for Meganas, part of your day.
Talk to my wife this morning.
She said, what did you do last night?
I said, I had a glorious time podcasting, watching the draft, speculating.
Jay Mack?
Okay, I didn't watch all of the second round.
That was fun.
I love draft nights.
Indeed.
I feel like we're coming in hot today.
I told you yesterday I was worried about Curry and the Warriors.
It's DefConn won in Golden State.
I love that.
So, let's start with this.
Chris Paul to the Warriors.
What?
The old guy?
Warrior fans hate Chris Paul.
Chris Paul are the Warriors.
What?
I don't understand it.
What does it mean?
Well, it means the Warriors.
are older and smaller.
No general manager
as the league is pivoting to size
as saying, please, I want to get older and
smaller. What it
also means is Steph Curry
can now occasionally
play off the ball
because of his shooting ability
and movement, he can
play the two. Occasionally.
Being the lead point guard, the ball
handling, the leadership, the physicality,
the scoring is a lot. It
wears you down and Steph is 35.
So part of this, I believe, is to get Steph off the ball occasionally.
Let him just go out there, move around and shoot.
It's easier.
Did you see who the Warriors then drafted last night?
Brandon Podzimski.
He's Clay Thompson.
West Coast kid, non-traditional basketball power who can shoot and play immediately.
So they could bring back.
for the season, Clay and staff and Peyton and Moody and the new kid and Chris Paul.
Six guards, 50% of the roster for a team that felt too small last year?
Really?
This is why I think I would trade Clay Thompson.
They just drafted Clay Thompson.
Healthier, younger, can shoot.
Kids a great shooter.
So GM Bob Myers, the architect to all this stuff left.
He had loyalties to a lot of these players.
Mike Dunleby, Jr. does not.
Maybe I'm wrong.
But Chris Paul doesn't necessarily fit the Warriors.
He's a plotting mid-range player likes to walk it up the floor.
The Warriors are all about speed and motion and threes.
It doesn't fit, right?
But it does if you're going to move Steph Curry off ball occasionally
and then draft Clay's replacement.
Oh, that's what they're going to do.
I think.
I mean, do you need Steph it to, clay it too, and the new kid it too?
How about one big that can score on the whole roster?
Milwaukee's big.
Boston just got bigger.
Phoenix has size.
Denver's huge.
The Lakers are big.
Another guard?
I mean, in the last couple of days, they got Chris Paul and another guard.
You're going to keep them all.
Now, I knew they moved Jordan Poole.
He wasn't going to fit.
I'll get to that later.
but I believe there has to be another move coming.
It may be at the trading deadline.
But if you go look at the Bulls dynasty, which Kerr was part of,
it was always Phil Jackson, Michael, and Scotty.
The rest of it, always movable.
If you look at the Warriors dynasty, in my opinion,
people think it's four, to me it's three.
Kerr, Stefan, Draymond, everything else is movable.
But I don't think any GM in the league, including Mike Dunleavy Jr.,
I know he's young.
I know it's his first gig as the boss.
I don't think anybody in the league in 2023 is saying,
you know what I want to get?
Older and smaller at point guard.
That's the game plan.
I think it's part of something.
I think they're going to do other things.
I don't think they want half their roster to be guards,
many of them small.
I think they need low post scoring.
I think they moved off Bob Myers or he moved off them for a reason.
It's not a conspiracy theory.
I just don't think Mike Dunlevee said the way through Denver and Phoenix, older and smaller,
I think there's more moves coming.
Speaking of moves or lack thereof, Portland did draft Scoot Henderson, dynamic guard.
And, you know, I used to work in Portland.
I got a soft spot for Oregon teams.
Four of the most talented Blazers are guards.
Scoot Henderson, maybe the most talented.
Dame, Anthony Simons, and Shaden Sharp.
And they have one solid wing, Jeremy Grant.
They're essentially now becoming the warriors without any of the trophies.
Stefan Clay, I understand the loyalty to Clay.
You got the bag four times.
You got the rings.
The Blazers had Dame and C.J. McCollum, and they didn't get you trophies.
They got you admiration.
People liked them.
But I said it a hundred times then.
Break them up.
It's duplication.
What are you getting for it?
You're not getting titles for it.
Steph and Clay, I understand some loyalty.
What are you getting with it?
11 years.
Four series wins.
Break them up.
They never did.
And I'll say it again.
Too many guards.
What are you going to get for it?
Break them up.
Send one packing.
Scoot Henderson is the future.
Move Dame and get him help.
This idea that Portland is close.
11 years, four series wins.
Phoenix is better today.
Denver's going nowhere.
I'll make a prediction that OKC is the most improved team in the league next year.
Oh, the Spurs just got Wemby.
The Kings will be better with a year experience.
Right?
Like the West was weird this year?
It's coming back strong.
OKC, San Antonio.
I didn't even mention Memphis, but they may be better with Marcus.
smart. Everybody in the West next year potentially is better, some way better. The Warriors aren't
done making moves, I don't believe. Portland, guard heavy. Holding on to Dame. Dame has a market.
You can get pieces for scoot because I don't believe it's a legitimate argument to say,
let's move Anfurtie Simons and get a piece that will what? Simons is not established enough.
Dame's a Hall of Famer.
So to me, this feels like Portland 2O,
is that I kept for years and years saying,
you know, I like CJ and Dame,
but the ceiling's not high enough to keep it together.
Like Stephen Clay, I get the loyalties.
I get the struggles, the tears that we can't break them up
because of what you achieved.
I don't get it here.
Dame had a great career.
He's a Hall of Famer.
I'd be happier for Dame to go to Miami,
where he'd be there best.
score. He could win a championship. It would make Miami a complete utter handful, and it's
exactly what they need. Smart veteran shotmaker. But you've become the warriors without any of the
rings, without any of the success. I don't get that. And I'll say it again with the West. I just
wrote the teams down this morning in the West. The Nuggets, big, not beating them with four guards.
sons, if they keep Aiton, big, kings, warriors, Lakers, OKC, Spurs, Memphis.
You're running out of spots.
Dame's not getting younger.
I don't know.
I think the minute you draft scoot, you've basically put a fingerprint on what you're doing
next year and going forward.
Years ago, when LeBron joined the Miami Heat, they got to about practice number two or three,
and DeWain Wade acknowledged that guy's way better.
And he told LeBron, this is going to be your team.
And LeBron's like, no, it's your city.
And D. Wade said, no, it's your team.
You're the best player here.
Dame's a great player.
But after about four practices of Scoot, his youth, he'll be able to play 75 games.
He'll be a willing defender.
You know, you're going to look around and go, we've got to get Scoot some players.
And Scoot's not going to win a title next year.
But at least it's a solid direct.
and everybody gets it.
Keeping these guys together, what are your paths?
You've got two paths.
I don't think either one of them get you close to a title.
I think both of them get you maybe at best into the bottom of the playoffs.
But all these guards in the bigger west make a move.
And you're not moving off.
I mean, your future is clearly.
Scoot Henderson. Nobody disputes that. Your near future could be Dame.
How about just moving him and getting pieces around Scoot? Rebooting.
11 years. Four playoff wins. It's not that emotionally hard. Be different if you had rings and trophies.
You never really got close. All right. All right. All sorts of stuff. Had I told you, J. Mack, 10 minutes after the Draymon
Jordan Pool confrontation.
In one year, they'll move off pool and keep Draymont.
People would have been surprised by that.
But that's what they did.
And kind of what we said would eventually happen.
Steve Kerr was not outraged by the moment as much as he was.
The video got out.
And we'll talk about that coming up.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick you here, unpack what we're.
went down and tried to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack,
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
They're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
We live in a society now, politics and sports. It's a constant outrage. Oh my God. OMG. I can't believe it.
I roll very few things to be outraged over. Really, very few things.
Look at yourself in the mirror if you're outraged on a daily basis.
when Draymond Green decked Jordan Poole, oh, the outrage.
Steve Kerr wasn't mad.
He was mad the video got out.
Jordan Poole, I was told, had trash talk Steph and Clay in previous weeks.
Steph's not confrontational.
Then he trashed Taked Raymond.
He is.
Sometimes sports has run like the mob.
The boss, Steph isn't going to get his hands dirty.
He'll let his muscle do it.
Basically, Draymond asked Jordan Poole if he wanted to sleep with the fishes.
Poole was too immature, too cocky, too inconsistent.
He was never a perfect fit.
He was 23 years old last year.
DeAngelo Russell, squirly, immature.
They bailed on him in a minute.
Wiseman, immature, see ya.
Young guys have always struggled with the warriors.
It is of no surprise or no outrage that Dremont, the team's muscle, was kept,
and Jordan Poole was sent packing to a complete utter awful rebound.
Oh, by the way, are you shocked they replaced Jordan Poole with high IQ veteran consistent Chris Paul?
Young and cocky doesn't work with the Warriors.
Old and smart does.
Bogot, Andre Iguodala.
Now Chris Paul.
Don't like it?
Nine years for trophies.
Let me see your trophy room.
It's their business model.
Young and cocky's out.
smart and a little old works.
Yeah, I know it's a strange fit with Chris Paul, but I do get it.
It's kind of what they do.
They're like the Warriors, a prolific law firm.
Show up early, wear a suit, be an adult.
We're going to win some cases.
We're going to lose some cases.
But go back to our trophy room.
There's the proof.
Draymond Green is irreplaceable for that franchise.
You didn't like the pun.
punch. Kerr was pissed the video got out. He is their bouncer. He is their muscle. He is their
enforcer. He and Steph are their soul. It's okay. Lambere and Isaiah. You didn't love
Lambeer either. Lambere tackled people. Got into fights with other teams more gifted stars.
They were a dynasty in Detroit. Isaiah was better. Lambeer was crucial. He was a
and tough and physical and over the line.
Draymond's got some of that.
Lambere the better shooter.
Draymond the better defender.
But almost every great team, what did the Grizzlies do?
They got rid of Dylan Brooks.
They went back and went out and got Marcus Smart, a tough guy, a defender who'll get in
your face.
He can be annoying.
He'll disrupt the soul of the Celtics.
So I know everybody was outraged.
but if the video of Michael Jordan swinging and punching and connecting with Steve Kerr came out,
you would make excuses for hours, days, and weeks on the interweb.
It's sports.
Sometimes it's run like the mafia.
The boss isn't going to get his hands dirty.
He's going to let his muscle do it.
And it's okay.
It's sports.
Don't have to love it, but it happens more than you think.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Victor Wambiama went first overall in the draft last night, no drama whatsoever.
Everybody knew it was going to happen.
After it became official, Wembeiyama spoke about how it felt to hear his name called on draft night.
I can't really describe it, you know, still fresh.
But, uh, one of the best feeling of my life, you know.
probably the best night
of my life
I've been dreaming
about this for so long
it's just
it's a dream come true
it's incredible
my message to them you know
I'm a make
I'm gonna give 100%
make all
all that's in my power
to make franchise win
you know
to have impact on the franchise
and the fan base
in the community
another
smart
mature
international
player. This is where the league is moving. Nobody's interested in the nonsense and the drama.
Smart, all in, focused, not into his brand, doesn't care about shoes. Janice, Yokic, Wembe, I love this kid.
So LeBron came into the league and averaged 19, 5, and 5 as a 19 year old.
Oh, this kid will average 22 and 10.
Okay. So he'll, he's a center. The two best centers in the league, Yokic and Embed, for sure.
He's a better offensive player than LeBron at this point.
Not even close.
He's a much better offensive player than LeBron.
I wouldn't disagree.
LeBron was a freight train.
He just ran past people.
This kid can take it to the floor.
You've got a sweet jumper.
He's a much better offensive player than LeBron at this age.
So all NBA, they pick center first team, center second team, center third team.
It'll be Yokeachin and beat on the first two, assuming health unless they'll get a
need turn or something.
The third team center will come down to probably Wembenyama, Bamatabio, Rudy
Gobert, something in that realm.
I think there's a chance.
Wembeen Yama really, I don't think they're going to win, you know, 45 games or anything crazy.
Well, I think Mbid will probably be.
I mean, if Yonis.
Well, Janice forward.
Yeah, I know he is.
You're right.
Brooke Lopez would be there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
DeAndre Aitney, putting up better numbers in Wemianna.
Yeah, Yokitch.
Embed.
I mean, I don't have a problem.
He is so much better.
And this, by the way, how developed was Luca in Dallas by year two?
Oh, yeah.
two is the one when it's like, okay, game on.
So what are you noticing with Yokic, Wembe, Luca, what do you notice about them?
How much more developed offensively they are than our domestic players.
And I think a lot of that's just they play with men when they're 16 years old and they
are forced to get uncomfortable.
You know, our guys play with, our great players play against less talented players
in the AAU circuit.
The most talented European players play against old.
or more talented guys, and they grow up much faster.
I do wonder, Popovich, getting up there in age, in his 70s.
His timetable isn't like, we got 10 years of Wambayama, right?
I wonder if they're going to try to make a splash in free agency.
You see some stuff like could they go after Dremont to play center?
I think they could make the playoffs in the east at the very bottom.
I don't think they can get in the bottom of the West, year one.
But I would be shocked if by year two they're not a playoff team.
Like, if the breaks go their way, we'll see, you know, injuries, free agency.
Portland moves off Dane, they're going to the bottom.
We don't know what the pelicans are.
I think one binyama on this purge.
I just keep an eye on it, man.
It's going to be interesting.
I can't wait to watch this kid.
Next up, Hornets went with Brandon Miller's second overall.
According to Woj, it was never any doubt.
All this Scoot Henderson chatter from Shams was just fake news and he was way off.
There was a draft party last night in Charlotte.
and local media members were in attendance and revealed that fans booed the Brandon Miller pick in Charlotte.
They had wanted Scoot Henderson.
They're not thrilled with Brandon Miller.
It's the right pick.
Bigger, longer athletes.
The league is getting bigger.
All these fans don't have a clue in Charlotte.
The bottom line is, what do you get for John Morant, John Wall, Derek Rose, Westbrook?
What do you get for small dynamic guard guy?
They don't defend.
They don't rebound.
usually hyper athletic, many can't shoot.
Scoot can't shoot, although I think Scoot's excellent.
So the bottom line is like, look at this kid.
6-9 can drive, take it to the basket, score.
Look at that size.
He looks like, Paul George.
Yeah, no, I mean, that's exactly what he looks like.
So he needs to put on about 12 pounds, which all these kids do.
This is the pick.
Scoot for Portland, I get the pick.
I like Scoot better than Miller, but I'll just say this.
Miller dominated the SEC last year.
He was unbelievable.
He just had a really bad NCA tournament game to end the season.
Scoot's going to be a bigger star than Brandon Miller.
Jha is going to be a bigger star than players, his contemporaries.
Doesn't mean he helps you win.
Jaws a bigger star than Jason Tatum.
Who would you rather have?
Jason Taddle.
Exactly, yeah.
And that's usually how the league is.
We've been on this for a couple weeks.
Stop.
People get too caught up in the word star.
Who's going to be more impactful on winning?
A 6-9-rangee wing or a dime.
dynamic point guard that can't shoot.
Who's going to be more impactful on winning?
Shoe sales, scoot.
Sports center highlights, scoot.
More dynamic, scoot.
More fun to watch, scoot.
This league is about Aaron Gordon.
It's not an offensive player.
Wildly impactful for the Nuggets.
Give me a roster with those guys.
Final story.
The Denver Broncos in the NFL are looking for plenty of improvements from Russell Wilson.
Thanks to the addition of head coach Sean Payton.
expectations were high last year and Russ didn't live up to them.
But his former teammate, Melvin Gordon, thinks Russ will be much better next season.
I really feel like he's going to come out here and have a year.
He's going to be what everybody thought he was going to be the first year in Denver.
I think they got the right coaching staff over there.
Russ is going to have the year he wants to have, and I hope he wins MVP.
How nice of Melvin Gordon.
He's not, but he is going to be better.
I think we admit that.
Well, he can't be worse.
Yeah, you're right.
A little shade at the coaching staff, right?
I think they've got the right coaching staff over there.
What happened to their former head coach?
Where is he now?
Oh, he's with the Jets.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
He's calling plays for the Jets.
Terrific.
Carrying Aaron Rogers bags.
That's what he's doing.
Come on.
He's not,
I have a feeling Aaron Rogers is going to run the show in New York,
not Nathaniel Hackett.
All right.
If you're comfortable with that.
What do you mean if I'm coming?
Aaron Rogers made the move to New York.
He's not going to let Nathaniel Hackett hold his YouTube.
He's very, very busy this off season.
He is.
I wonder how that conference.
Do we have any video of him speaking at the,
Oh, he calls us bums.
Anybody that doesn't believe in him and his journey is a bum.
Is it a conference about shrooms or marijuana or just like psychedelics?
Psychedelics.
So I think I don't know.
There's some quotes floating around that almost feel fake about stuff he's talking about.
I read them and I'm like.
The one about spelling.
Yeah.
I hear the word spell and I'm like, okay, I know how to spell, you know, a cowherd or whatever.
But he's talking about like spell, like witchcraft stuff.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm like Aaron.
Or bums.
Anybody that were bombs.
Whatever.
It's fine.
I've been called worse.
Same.
A JMAQ with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
So when news, when, not what it is, when news is announced matters.
Well, well, well, right before training camp in the NFL starts, what an interesting
story. The bills announced this morning that general manager Brandon Bean and head coach Sean McDermott
have signed extensions putting good news out after last week's bumpy encounter with Stefan
Diggs in a turbulent six months. This is of course a bat signal to Stefan Diggs. Sean runs the show
still. Players can often sense high maintenance players, noisy players can often sense when they have
leverage and the coaches on the ropes. And what did the bills do? They call sometimes in news,
they call it a Friday news dump when you have really bad news and the media releases it at like
6.45 p.m. on a Friday and the media is already out having cocktails in their weekend started so it
doesn't get much coverage. This news at this time right before camp begins is doubling down by the
Bill's owner on his coach and GM.
And what it's really saying is, Stefan Diggs, we know we recently signed a contract,
and it would be very hard for us to move off you.
If we did, we'd have about 40, 45 million dead cap money.
We could afford it, but it's not ideal.
We don't have a number two receiver and you're really, really good.
But we're going to let you know going into camp, head coach is the boss.
And he's going to be here probably longer than you.
So I said this.
I think Buffalo's in a really, really tough spot.
They have one legitimate playmaking receiver, and he's unhappy.
The O line is still a question mark.
They're coming off a really ugly home playoff loss.
Their division now has Aaron Rogers and Mack Jones has, you know, a real offensive coordinator.
So the division's much better and the AFC is absolutely stacked.
I would like to remind everybody that my crazy, outrageous AFCE's prediction was this.
Miami wins the division, Bill 2nd, Jets, 3rd, Patriots 4th, and I'm not above moving the jet second, Bill's 2nd, Bill's 3rd based on what September looks like.
I'll have a strong feeling then.
I love what has happened to Miami in the offseason.
Tua has put on a little weight.
They get Vic Fangio, best defensive coordinator, probably in the league.
They get Jalen Ramsey.
There's positivity.
I saw yesterday where Tua hired a jiu-jitsu instructor to teach him how to fall after
being sacked.
Positive, uplifting.
We're going in the right direction or where Buffalo is.
I do not think it is a coincidence that right before camp,
they announce publicly these extensions.
I think it's been bumpy.
I think it'll continue to be bumpy,
but it's a bat signal.
Stefan,
coach is going to be here longer than you are.
By the way,
I did not ask you.
I have another thought.
There's a Zion story I'm going to get to in a second.
I did not ask you,
Chris Paul to the Warriors,
you hated that move, right?
You thought they're older and smaller.
I still do.
I've read so much about the trade
and none of it makes sense.
None of it.
Now, the one most interesting thing,
I didn't hear you say.
I haven't heard any other shows driving in.
Listen,
Steve Kerr has one year left on his contract.
Clay Thompson has one year left on his contract.
Chris Paul has one year left on his deal.
Did they think like this is like an all-in?
Hey, hey, we get off Jordan Poole's deal, save some money.
We got all in.
We got one more year.
One more chance with this.
Let's give it a shot because it's like you said, they got smaller.
And older.
They got older.
Last year, Jordan Poole filled in.
and they went, I believe, 18 and 2 with Jordan Poole filling in as a starter.
18 and 2.
That's like off the table.
Chris Paul can't start 20 games for you.
I mean, I know he's never come off the bench in his entire career,
but I think that's going to be the plan here in Golden State.
And remember, Chris Paul and Curry have an ugly history.
Chris Paul hated Steph Curry.
Marcus Thompson has gone on at length talking about how jealous Chris Paul was
when the warriors zoomed by him.
It was incidents in Houston.
Remember the shimmy in his face?
Do you remember that in the playoffs?
backfired like, I don't know, man. This just feels very weird. Is it feel desperate?
No, it feels to me like a fit psychologically, emotionally, and intellectually. And it feels like
they're going to play Steph off the ball occasionally, Chris Paul off the bench. And then they
draft Clay Thompson, too. And then they've got all these guards that have roles. So Dante
DeFigenzo is probably leaving town. I would guess that. That's a loss. I think he's pretty
good. He's pretty good. He's okay. Playoffs, I'm not sure if he's making a difference, but now
they have six guards. They got older and smaller. And my takeaway is, that can't be it. Yeah.
There's got to be some low post scoring. So if you're losing DeVincenzo, who's a winner, won a title of
Villan O'Barre. He is a winning player. Pool, who was very good a couple years ago. Your bench is now
a 19-year-old, Moses Moody, and Jonathan Cumminga and Chris Paul? Like, this team did not get better. When I say panic,
And everybody thought Chris Paul was going to the Clippers or the Lakers.
They were like fighting over Chris Paul, who's got family here in L.A.
It almost felt like the Warriors were desperate and panicked.
We can't let Chris Paul go to other teams that are in our, you know, caliber in the West.
We've got to get him.
And it just, I don't like this move at all.
Well, this is why they draft Clay's replacement.
How much can that guy give easy?
He's 20 years old.
But no, but I'm saying is, and then Steph now is going to play some two guard,
with Chris. Obviously, he can play off the ball. Chris can't. So you're going to have the kid,
Clay, Steph, two guard. Now, maybe they think to themselves that we need all three. I don't know.
I could, maybe. Steph Curry goes down for three weeks. He's 35 years old. He's had a couple of
injuries. How about this? What happens to this team? Are they a playing team? If Curry's out for
three weeks, Chris Paul's now starting. And the guy you want to save for the playoffs is burning 35
minutes a night in January and February? The indictment is they just did.
didn't think Jordan Poole fit. They would rather have Chris Paul run the show when
Steph's off. And you know what everybody did the second they traded Jordan Poole. They went to
his Instagram and he instantly unfollowed Raymond Green, which is completely
understandable. They didn't like each other. Why would they? It's just, I'm disappointed.
Young doesn't work with the Warriors. It just doesn't. We have history. Neither just punching
out teammates, you know, work it out. Fix things. It's, let me, I'll ask you,
point blank, are the Warriors a better team today than they were yesterday?
If they make a move to get some low post scoring, yes.
That's why I cannot believe Mike Dunleby thinks this is what they're bringing back.
This team is tiny.
Bucks were big.
Denver's big.
Celtics are bigger.
Lakers are big.
Sons are big.
I know you all love to.
Small.
Small ball sounds great and was great.
When Steph was 31, Steph's now 35.
Clay's 33.
Dremont's 33.
Small and fast doesn't work as well when you're small and less fast.
So the small ball thing, there was a moment in time for it.
But now you're slower.
And Steph can't play those minutes.
And he still moves quickly.
But I mean, the small ball thing, you can keep doing it to some degree.
But small ball, part of its brilliance was they were all young ascending players.
Now they're old, declining players.
So I think getting smaller and old.
and just saying, okay, this is what we are.
There's got to be another move.
Remember their bench in the first run?
It was like Marie Spate's, Leandro Barbosa, Sean Livingston, veterans.
Their bench in 2022 had Otto Porter, like a seven, eight-year veteran.
They like older guys.
So now they got a 20-year-old rookie, Moses Moody, and Cominga.
Like, Colin, if I'm a Warriors fan, I'm really upset right now.
Well, four titles in nine years.
You got a lot.
You had a great run.
I don't think you're wrong.
What have you done for me lately?
If this is it, then you're right.
If this is it, and they don't make another move, you're right.
I mean, you could argue they're like the sixth or seventh best team in the West without making another move.
I don't even think it's a big argument.
Like the Sacramento Kings today are better.
And by the way, did you see, we should do a segment on it later.
They cleared up about 30 million in Cap room with a couple moves last night.
Yeah.
They could make some moves.
The Sacramento Kings.
I know people don't care about the Kings
and you mocked them this year when I hyped them up.
They got $30 million in Cap Room, Collin.
I know. I know. They're interesting.
It's baby steps. Next year,
they're going to be in that Phoenix class
if they make one more move.
Agreed? They're moving off Harrison Barnes,
don't you? Yeah. Yeah.

What do you get when you combine a three-time
manager of the year at a three-time national sports writer
of the year?
It's the Book of Joe podcast. Hey, this is Tom Verducci from Fox Sports, MLB Network and Sports Illustrated.
And I'm Joe Madden, and we're going to be around to talk a little bit about managerial decisions, playoff games, and what may have occurred in the dugout, maybe in the 1980s.
I can't wait for this, Joe. We're going to dive into what goes on in the dugout and behind the scenes in Major League Baseball.
Cars, wind, whatever else we want to talk about.

an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how
we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Tomorrow it's a special MLB on Fox as Cardinals and Cubs head across the Atlantic to London.
Plus, Derek Jeter makes his debut when he joins Arod, Big Poppy, and KB live at London Stadium.
Coverage begins tomorrow at noon Eastern on Fox.
Awesome.
So Woge, who is somebody I have great admiration for and trust,
Woj last night during the telecast, the NBA draft telecast.
He said, I could not find a general manager who was offered Zion Williamson.
Translation, he also said he's been at the practice facility more than he's ever been.
Translation is the Pelicans, GM, David Griffin is no dummy.
He doesn't have a lot of trade value right now.
So they have to fix Zion and either keep him or move him, but fix him.
So league and personnel moves are very cyclical, as we all know in all sports.
Yokic and Yonis are getting titles.
Sizes in, international players are in.
The last five MVPs are 6.11 or taller.
All of them international.
All of them.
Another trend, mature stars, focus stars over drama.
Yokic, Steph.
LeBron, Janus, that's who's winning titles.
The league is cyclical.
So here's another trend, and it's an ugly one.
No matter how gifted and talented your young star is.
If he's volatile, he wrecks your franchise.
He crushes your momentum, i.e. Zion and John Morant.
Jordan Poole, only 24, almost no market.
market. Zion. Pelicans have figured it out. They're not dummies. There's not a huge market right now.
You could trade him and get nothing for him. And so maturity is in, drama is out. And this happens
all the time in sports that we watch what wins. And then we're like, I'm not sure. And a lot of times,
I think the league is looking at these international players. And because these international players,
come to the states, and I've talked about this before, when you go abroad, if you travel,
don't you feel like you should tip more and be more polite?
You're a visitor.
I always feel that way whenever I leave the country.
Could be Canada.
Could be, you know, Italy, wherever it is, wherever you take your family, we're visiting.
Be more polite, more please, more thank you.
When these international players come to this country, they're more loyal, they're more
mature. There's less trouble. There's less entitlement. And I'm not saying our domestic players aren't
amazing. And, you know, I can't wait to watch Scoot Henderson. I think it's going to be really fun.
But these leagues in my life have always been cyclical. Pro sports is very cyclical. College isn't as
much. I mean, I watched Nebraska play a certain style offense in 1995. Nobody was copying it.
It was what Nebraska did. I watched Chip Kelly's offense at Oregon. Nobody else was running quite that
offense. It's okay. Chip Kelly went to the NFL and it was like, you know, anyway, the point
being is college tends to be a little more independent and unique basketball, football. I mean,
you know, Jim Beheim for years ran that zone defense and not like everybody copied him. It was
his defense, his zone defense at Syracuse. But in the NFL, there's so much money involved
and there is such cachet and riches in winning championships, not finishing second,
is teams, I mean, at one point, the NFL, everybody including the Patriots with Tom Brady,
used a form of the Wildcat offense, hiking a ball to a running back.
A team with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady tried it out.
Copycat, what's working.
If you look at the NBA, last five MVP's international, big, and I think right now drama is way out.
And if we have a highly dramatic player who can be a tad toxic, but he wins a championship,
it may all move.
Again, people are like, okay, they talk themselves into,
there's a little toxicity, but I think right now,
John Morant, people are like, no thanks.
Zion, Pelicans are like, we're not even going to put them on the market.
Jordan Poole, kid can play.
Jordan Poole can play.
All are you all day long?
Immature, yes, can play?
Absolutely.
He's going to average 22 points for the Wizards.
He's going to be a really good player for them.
but I like where the NBA is headed also now with a new CBA.
Cap consciousness is what they're calling it.
It's going to become vital.
So Zion's now extension kicks in, five years, 200 million.
You can't just move that and get a bunch of disparate parts.
Like cap consciousness, who you're paying, how much you're paying.
I think we're going to see a little bit less movement in the NBA with the mobility.
and if you trade somebody, you better get something back in return.
For years and years, you just moved a piece that wore you out.
Whatever you get, you get, you just want a guy out of the building.
I don't think you're going to see that as much anymore.
Cap consciousness.
So here's another story.
And I ask Jay, before I have my big strong opinion, let me just ask you, J. Mack.
I'm going to read this headline to you as a Jets fan.
Aaron Rogers pushes for acceptance of psychedelics.
You bowed your head.
Okay. He's into psychedelics and he's a big believer. I need to read more. I can't just go off a headline. Some headline writer trying to get clicks.
Okay. Huh? I know a little about that.
All right. Hey, you can build a business model on getting clicks.
Well, I will say this that Peyton Manning. I'm sorry, you could have 15 years ago. Now you can't.
Don't you think it's a little interesting? Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, John Elway and Brady.
15 Super Bowls. Can you imagine them in their playing days taking up as many causes?
as Aaron does.
No.
My only question.
Those guys have 15 Super Bowls.
Aaron's been there once.
Can you see Manning,
Peyton, Brady, Montana, Elway?
By the way, in a movement year,
new team, new coach,
new city,
taking up a cause.
I'm not saying you can't do it.
Listen, we've talked about this a lot.
Kevin Durant's on his phone all the time
fighting with guys on social media.
Doesn't have a wife, doesn't have kids.
Aaron Rogers doesn't have a wife and kids.
You know, Peyton Manning,
wife, kids.
Brady, wife, kid.
Like, Brady did have a wife.
They didn't have all this time on their hands to go to psychedelic conferences.
You know, you're a single guy.
You're just a vagabond.
You do whatever you want.
You go around, have fun.
You are the son in your galaxy when you're single with no kids.
I don't even think Aaron has a dog.
So he's going to do what he wants to do.
At home, do you think is whites letting him go to a psychedelic conference and speak for three
to four days?
It's just not happening.
you know, we love being married, but there are responsibilities with kids and some, yes.
Yes, of course.
Some.
Your wife still admires the muscle shirt at the beach.
My wife really put a stamp down on that foot down on that years ago.
Yeah.
So you have got a lot more wiggle room.
So like what does Aaron Rogers have this weekend?
You look at the itinerary.
Do kids have any sports?
No, they don't.
Does a wife have any of you have any like couples dinners or gatherings?
No, no, don't have one.
Aaron Rogers is open calendar.
He can do whatever he wants.
Go to the Tonys.
go to a psychedelic conference.
It's all legal, and you can do it.
But it is interesting.
That's why I asked your opinion.
Even Trevor Lawrence is like engaged, right?
I don't think he's doing lacking stuff like this.
Isn't he married?
I think he's married.
He might have got married.
I don't know.
He's like 25.
But he's really uniquely mature.
I met him twice.
He's uniquely.
A lot to like about Trevor Lawrence.
A lot to like about him.
Love him.
All right.
Chris Brousard, bruise around the corner.
What's he making this Chris Paul Warriors?
I don't think he likes it at all.
