This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey, Jonas, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our
podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm
looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was hiring.
You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven,
Marquis come until he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just
playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the I Heart
Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms.
So I'm Leanne.
Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Absolutely.
A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger hips.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drinks.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Oh, they had a bogo.
Well, then you got it.
Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be?
I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS.
Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to fupas to scheduling sex.
Wait, what sex?
Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes?
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to.
to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter. Listen to How Hard
Can It Be with Deanna Maria Riva on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports
Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at
Fox SportsRedia.com or stream us live every day in the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports
Radio or FSR.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Oh, here we go.
It is a Tuesday.
Can we top yesterday's show?
Well, we'll give it a try.
The herd hierarchy and Nick Wright in one hour from now,
another iconic World Series moment at Dodger Stadium on Fox Sports.
It is great to have you in today.
I know some of you are bleary-eyed.
I know we are here in Chicago.
What a wild, wild night.
J. Mack, you're in Los Angeles.
It's a remarkable.
The people that stayed at the game,
because they had an hour and a half drive home.
They're not going to be many all time that are like that.
So let's not waste any time.
Any World Series game that goes 18 in a game.
can be won and lost several times.
Wasted and delivered moments.
The Blue Js stranded 19 runners.
The Dodgers stranded 18 runners.
Both of these teams had opportunities
much earlier in the game.
And it was not a Hollywood blockbuster movie.
It was more like an eight-part Netflix special,
six-hour 600 pitches plus.
But it was a perfect representation
of what makes the Dodgers great.
Yes, there is O' Tonney.
MJ Plus. He's absolutely unbelievable and we know that.
But you have Tommy Edmund making great defensive plays.
That's what Tommy Edmund does all the time.
You had four scoreless innings from Will Klein.
He was pitching for the Tacoma Rainiers.
That's near where I grew up.
He had a seven ERA for them.
Every iconic Dodger moment,
especially at Dodger Stadium.
It's not just about the money.
There's always a Will Klein.
He threw 66 pitches in September.
He threw 72 last night against the Blue Jays,
easily the best American League team
and only surrendered a hit in four innings.
Will Klein, still a young guy,
released three times this year.
They asked him to go four,
and he just kept with that red beard going out there and getting people out.
They needed Clayton Kirshah for a batter.
Yep, Clayton Kirshah delivered.
And then, of course, of course, it's the Dodgers.
So it goes without saying that Freddie Freeman would have a walk-off.
But there were so many different Dodgers that mattered.
I mean, how fitting is it that Kirshah, they need an out.
He gets it.
Yes, it centers.
around O-Tonnie. Listen to this. O'Tonnie hasn't made an out. He hasn't made an out at Dodger Stadium
in close to two weeks. Seven for seven with six walks. In roughly two weeks, all extra
base hits. We are lucky to be witness to Shohei. He is officially in the sports world,
the show. First player to have multiple walks and
Multiple home runs in the same World Series game.
You have to go back to Yogi Barrett in the 50s with the Yankees.
Oh, did I mention Otani is starting tonight?
And we'll be throwing 99 miles an hour, 17 hours after he got on base nine times.
Wasn't it just last week that Otani had the greatest baseball game ever played?
I'm losing track.
It was show hey Otani all night long.
of course until the bottom of the 18th inning
when who else
Freddie Freeman closed the door.
Herman sends a fly ball to center field.
Varshot's going back before the cut strikes.
It's a repeat.
I mean, that is goosebumps.
I didn't see a lot of people leaving.
Tip of the cap to Dodger fans.
18 innings ends at midnight,
much later where I'm sitting this morning.
But I said before the series,
Dodgers in six, two best teams, I believe, are the Jays.
Now, they've got an injury to overcome, and I don't know how much gas they have.
The Dodgers got very lucky with Yoshi's complete game.
Their bullpen was rested.
Tonight it'll be Shohei Otani.
Think about this.
Show Hey, Otani.
Seven for seven, six walks in his last 13 plate appearances,
will now pitch tonight.
And he's doing that.
Otani's doing that in a sport where everybody throws 98 plus.
I mean, he's Patrick Mahomes and Miles Garrett in one person.
But it was more than Freeman, more than Otani.
It was the out by Kersha, the great defensive plays by Tommy Edmund.
It was Will Kline.
There's always a Will Kline for the Dodgers.
AAA pitcher in Tacoma, couldn't get people out there.
four scoreless hitting,
biggest moment of his life,
still in his mid-20s.
It was a game
these two teams
played uniquely,
the best two teams.
And here's Dave Roberts after.
You know, that could go down
as one of the greatest games
of all time,
or, you know,
it was ugly there for a while,
though, you know,
but, you know,
it's one of those things
that I do believe
that the two best teams
in baseball are playing
in this series and the two toughest teams.
There's a lot of character
right there,
and you know, you saw what Lauer did, you saw Will Klein did.
We had, you know, Henriquez, who was an A ball last year,
he's pitching his innings Robleski, and obviously Freddie being Freddie.
It took everybody on the active roster to win one baseball game,
and it's something special.
What's really remarkable about the Dodgers,
and I think about this all the time,
is that, you know how they say, if you like playing basketball,
you don't have to be an NBA player or a college player,
but if you like playing basketball and you go to the YMCA
and you play against a bunch of guys that are better than you,
it will raise your game.
You like play better than you normally do, right?
There's something about the way we are wired.
That's what it is with the Dodgers.
You put these single A guys.
You put Will Klein in.
You put these guys around Freeman and Betts and Otani and Glassnow
and everybody rises to the moment.
It's not just the money.
the Yankees and Mets have a lot of money.
It's not just that.
And the other thing that really struck me last night watching this,
Otani was doing this with the Angels.
He just wasn't doing it in October.
Is that if you are a great player,
and sometimes fans are like,
well, I mean, they all go to the Yankees or they all go to the Dodgers,
Otani deserved to be a Dodger.
I said it when he signed.
and I'll say it again.
He's simply too great not to be on the stage in October.
He is not only the best baseball player ever.
I'm not sure who's second.
Honestly, I think Mookie Betts is the second most talented baseball player on the earth.
Can do outfield, can do shortstop, could lead off, could hit third, could hit fourth.
I mean, getting on base nine times.
You know, in basketball, you say six for six.
Everybody knows who you're talking about, MJ.
Six for six.
That's MJ.
LeBron's great, all-time leading score.
He doesn't have a number.
I mean, Gretzky doesn't have a number.
Otani got on base nine times.
That's his number.
Nobody else could do that.
All right, there was kind of a boring football game last night.
I won't spend too much time on it,
but it is the best team right now in the world of Kansas City Chiefs.
who had kind of a B-minus C-plus performance, first two possessions, two interceptions.
They're still finding their way.
Here's the scary thing, though.
Six, five weeks ago, we were saying, what does Kansas City do well?
I'm watching last night against the commanders in a blowout win, and I'm thinking,
what don't they do well?
They have more 30-point games and double-digit wins right now than all of last year,
and we're at the halfway point.
So they haven't been this deep offensively since 2022.
400 yards three times in the last month.
Rishi Rice is clearly, clearly a number one.
Xavier Worthy, clever number two.
Juju Smith-Schuster, a perfect number three.
And Travis Kelsey's not done.
They have not punted in the first half of their last three games.
Their defense is number two in the league.
So, and the scary thing is they're missing two offensive.
linemen. So they're not quite right yet. They're just not quite buttoned up on the front. But I said
this two weeks ago. I said it last week and I'll say it again. I think Kansas City is a touchdown
better than the second best team in the league. And I still think this morning they're finding
their way. But they haven't had this kind of offense, these kind of weapons, this kind of
depth since like 2022.
And I'm not even getting
to the defense. I don't even
have to worry. Six weeks ago, we're like
their special teams aren't
as good. They don't get a consistent
pass rush. This is what great
coaching does. Over the
course of one, two, three, four, five
weeks, you just
close up the weaknesses,
build slowly on
the strengths.
Everything seems to work.
Here's Patrick Mahomes after another win.
I mean, I know the records not as good, but it's a lot more fun just when everybody's kind of going out there and making stuff happen.
But I think we're getting better and better.
You know, we lost some tough games early that we had won in previous years, but it's not like anyone hung their head.
They just continue to get better and better, and that's all we have to do is push forward.
And whenever the offense, the defense, and the special teams are rolling, it's fun to play football.
Travis Kelsey, eight catches.
Isaiah Pacheco got significant carries.
12 averaged about four yards at carry. Mahomes is moving well. O lines still missing pieces.
But this is what I said when they beat Baltimore. Everybody said, ah, the Ravens are beat up.
It's like, no, it's more than that. It's more than that. They've got a lot of depth.
And they are humming, and I thought it was a B minus C plus performance for most of it, and they
still crush the commanders. So, J. Mack, before we started the show today, you and I were
I don't know if I could have stayed for 18 innings at Dodger Stadium, but I think you were getting so many,
I mean, that game could have ended several.
I mean, there were warning track fly balls multiple times.
It took some great defensive plays.
My question today is if you are a road team.
So the Dodgers bullpen was rested.
You know, they spent $335 million for Yoshi.
He's been worth every penny because that complete game in game two, you had a bullpen that was rested.
You know, the Blue Jays, I don't know what they have left.
They're going to need seven and a half, seven and two-thirds starting pitching in tonight.
I don't know what they're going to do.
They lose a star player.
Their bullpens depleted.
The Dodgers would love Otani to go six to seven tonight.
But I think they could survive if he didn't.
So, you know, if you win game three of the World Series,
the numbers tell you about a 70% chance of winning the series.
but that's just not a game three.
That was incredibly taxing,
especially on the road team.
I don't know if the Blue Jays,
I don't know what's left in the tank, we'll find out.
Yeah, I think we got a baseball guest coming on later.
I would love just mentally, what does a game like that do?
You know, like, I mean, you clearly don't get home until 2 in the morning out here,
right? You're on a high or you're super low if you're the Blue Jays.
I don't know mentally what that does for these guys,
because now you've got to face Otani on the mound,
and we know how good he is.
It feels like a big, big edge to the Dodgers.
Yeah, a couple hours.
Derek Jeter will stop by our show.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's actually.
extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas guys?
I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it and.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas. And I offered it up.
was a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca.
And Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his foot.
fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body.
On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard.
I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30, you shouldn't have to share a room with anybody.
Mm-hmm.
From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health.
These are real, honest conversations.
We don't always get to have out loud.
Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right?
Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them?
Absolutely not.
During one meal, I'm standing.
I'm standing and handing my children food.
Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas.
They're practices.
And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself.
Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest.
Sorry, our first ever human guest.
I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamb,
Rock the parrot. I'd be too nervous.
That's right. The very funny
Will Ferrell joins Rory Scovel and
me, Josh Dean, for an episode dedicated
to the many crimes committed by people
also named Will Ferrell.
They called to his fellow officer
for the nippers!
What are the nippers?
Very good question. No,
I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad
dressing? Simple assault? And it's a play on
word, salt? Maybe not.
I say we invest and we see.
There's only one way to know.
This did not amuse the cops.
By the way, normally the cops are amused, but this did not abuse the cops.
Will even comes clean about some of his own crimes.
I didn't get caught. You know why?
If you don't want to be suspected of anything, you whistle as you walk.
Listen to crime lists on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
You ever see that guy that pulls into the driveway after work?
Maybe it's the wife.
And they stay in the car for like 15 minutes.
They're not on their phone.
They're just sitting there.
They don't really want to go inside.
I feel like that's Steeler fans.
According to multiple stories I've read over the last day,
Packers' Steelers game felt like a neutral sight.
That many of the best seats were Packer fans.
Those are season ticket holders for the Steelers bailing, taking the money.
Hmm.
Steelers have every right to be frustrated.
as the league is pivoted to an offensive league,
seven straight seasons of a second to third tier offense,
and they just don't take the quarterback position seriously.
It's a responsibility to go to a Steelers game,
but do you really love it?
Green Bay Packer fans had many of the best seats in this game.
And fans want to feel optimistic,
not only about Sunday, but the future.
The New York Giants aren't very good,
but between Scataboo and Jackson Dart,
I mean, they're going to renew their season tickets the minute they can.
I mean, the Steelers, you can't fool diehard fans and you can't fool Vegas.
Right now, the Baltimore Ravens at 2 and 5, are favored to win the division and should be.
So, again, I've been saying this for years and years.
You will show me what matters to you in life.
Where are you actionable?
Since Big Ben tore a ligament at 37 years old, they're in.
answer at quarterback has been Kenny Pickett, who I was told by a general manager with multiple
Super Bowl trophies was a bottom third round prospect. And their other answer was Aaron Rogers.
And I'm not blaming Aaron. He's been about as good as you can be walking into a defensive
culture that didn't do anything right for the last seven years offensively. So on Sunday night,
I said this yesterday, they got outclassed. The Packers, progressive, smart, offensive coach,
and develop, spend their money wisely.
Pittsburgh once again,
most expensive defense,
and now they can't tackle.
So here's Mike Tomlin
trying to fix again
this year the offensive issues.
You know, we all have to own it.
Certainly you start with the schematics, man,
because that's the leadership component of it.
And certainly we'll be looking at everything
that we're doing, man, because some of these problems
are somewhat repetitive and we're not getting
better fast enough.
Said this.
The Rams had a quarterback that got him to a Super Bowl, and they upgraded.
The Niners had Garoppolo, got him to a Super Bowl, upgraded.
The Chiefs had Alex Smith getting you to the playoffs, upgraded.
Those quarterbacks were all good, and the offensive coaches are like, not good enough.
I mean, Russell Wilson, Denver, you can win games with Sean Payton.
not good enough.
Mike Tomlin, I mean, remember this offseason?
We're like, is Aaron playing?
Who's he playing for?
There was just no urgency.
That's not how offensive coaches act.
So I feel like Steeler fans a little like the guy in the driveway
that's not coming into the house.
It's not special.
There's a responsibility to get in there eventually, help with the kids.
But it doesn't feel like love anymore.
It feels like a responsibility.
And to give away great seats to the kids.
the Packers because the Packers are optimistic because they draft their quarterback three years
before he's going to play. Packer fans are always optimistic. Here's Jay Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the Hurdline News. All right, Conn, let's start with the San
Francisco 49ers. Your guy, Mack Jones, was not very good against Houston. Listen, we knew the
wheels were going to come off. Enter Brock Purdy. He missed his fourth straight game against Houston
with that toe injury.
But Kyle Shanahan met with the media yesterday.
And interestingly, he's like tiptoeing around whether or not Purdy's going to play.
I don't get it.
Let me know what you think about Kyle Shanahan.
His chances on Purdy playing this week.
It's too early to say.
I don't think it's a long shot.
But I know he's doing better.
And we'll see how he's doing Wednesday.
Hopefully, if he's doing good, he'll get in some reps.
Well, I think he's got a really good backup.
I thought Matt Jones actually made some great throws, one for a touchdown,
one down to about the one yard line.
But the truth was, that offensive line's not very good.
And Houston, Houston's one of those teams that on any Sunday can outplay you and make your
life miserable.
I did not think, I thought Houston was one of my picks.
I thought Houston was in a really good spot.
So I think, listen, here's the good news.
Mack Jones is probably the best backup quarterback in the league right now.
He's up there.
He's up there.
And so why risk, why risk purdy?
What's the point?
Get 100%.
Well, it is interesting because the job.
Giants have a good pass rush this week.
That's the opponent.
It hasn't been as great as we thought it would be.
That being said, you've got to win this game if you're the Niners, right?
Seattle's moving.
They may not face Jayden Daniels this week.
You can't keep falling behind the Rams are two touchdown favorites against the Saints.
And by the way, hold on.
Niners next week, Colin, the rematch with the Rams.
Remember that win on Thursday night?
They play again next week.
So maybe they save Purdy for that.
Jay Mack, you always say that when I'm on a.
heater, I don't give you any clues.
I like the Niners
minus two and a half. I don't know why is it
still two and a half. Why isn't this three?
I think there's a three and a half.
The Giants are bad. Scataboo's done.
If you look at Sean McDermott off a buy,
why did the Buffalo Panthers line,
why wasn't it different? I mean,
there's sometimes you're trying
to get, you know, a sports book, they're trying
to get equal play on both sides.
Everything told you the bills would win,
but the line was kind of
relatively competitive.
This is one of my picks so far.
I like the Niners in this spot.
Interesting.
I'm largely with you.
I don't know what the Giants are at this point.
Like with Scataboo out, did you see how down Jackson Dart was after he left?
Of course.
He gave him his headbutt.
That's his boy.
Also, if you look at Jackson Dart's completion percentage, he's had great plays and great moments.
He's not consistent.
I mean, we can all talk about the quarterbacks that are young.
But Jackson is a rookie.
And Robert Sala is one of the best defensive.
of coordinators in football.
This is not going to be a great week for Jackson Dart.
Hold on. Timeout.
CJ Stroud, I watch that closely because I was loaded up on the Texans.
Stroud beat them with his legs.
The Niners have trouble with these quarterbacks who could scramble.
Baker Mayfield member in Tampa.
I don't know, man.
I'm a little nervous.
I'm with you on the Niners largely, but there are some lingering issues for San Frant.
Next up, Detroit Lions.
They are coming out of their by week at 5 and 2.
They are big favorites against the Vikings this week.
and also Dan Campbell says they haven't even played up to their potential.
I really believe we hadn't played our best ball yet collectively, you know, in all three phases.
And that's really what we're, you know, what we're trying to get to here, man, is, man, how can we sharpen ourselves?
We know it's going to take every phase, every game's different, and one unit may have to pick up the slap,
but, man, we need to start playing complete ball across the board and just keep improving.
Yeah, well, it takes time for everybody.
They're good.
They're a top 10 team.
I mean, they've spent their money on the right spots, pass rushers, weapons.
They're good.
I think, you know, there was a fear, and I was way into this, that, like, the window closed without Ben Johnson.
Offense is fine.
O-line's fine.
Running game's great.
Gop is leading the league in a couple of categories.
They're fine.
Are they?
I mean, Colin, again, I get it.
You look on the surface.
Five and two.
Oh, my gosh.
leaving the division.
They're great.
You start to drill down a little bit.
Oh, let's see the good teams they've played.
So they get smashed in the opener by the Packers.
Okay.
They go to Kansas City and get worked by the Chiefs.
Like, I just, again, the same deal with the Chiefs, man.
You were all excited.
They haven't punted in the first half last three games.
I mean, they're playing bad teams.
So, like, if you really want to drill down,
that win over Baltimore, remember at the time looked amazing?
Yeah.
Baltimore was beat up.
I mean, like, they started, you could start to see the weaknesses for the Ravens.
I look at that, oh, you beat, you know, the Cleveland Browns and you beat Jake Browning.
I just, even that win over Tampa before the Buy, Tampa was exhausted, injured.
That was a layup for us.
Sounds like a lot of excuses.
Detroit's pretty good.
And I look at Detroit right now, take the Green Bay game out.
It's week one.
Week one now is preseason.
Nobody plays any starters.
Everybody's healthy, though.
Go week two on.
It's good teams.
Okay, so let me ask you, who are the best three teams in the NFC?
Not, I'm sorry, not best.
Who would you trust the most to get to the Super Bowl in the NFC right now?
Philadelphia.
Are you forgetting Green Bay?
Seattle.
No, Rams.
No, Seattle makes way too many mistakes.
They're too young, and they're not, they're just not buttoned up yet.
Rams or Lions?
Depends on where the games played.
In Detroit, I'd take Detroit.
So Detroit could be three or four or five.
in the NFC.
Well, that's good enough.
If you're in the top three, you're in a good space.
So they have the Vikings, by the way, this week.
They're going to smoke them.
J.J. McCarthy?
Smoke them.
He's a Viking season, by the way.
Three and four, they have Lamar on deck.
Okay.
Final story, Colin, let's go to, oh, the NBA.
You know, I forgot to do a Cooper Flag story yesterday,
and the staff got on my case.
Unfortunately, we got a Cooper Flagg one today, and it's not good.
He appeared to hurt his shoulder last night.
Early in the game, proceeded to shoot,
One of nine had no assist in 31 minutes, came out of the game early in the fourth, did not return.
Now, this was his first back-to-back as a pro.
Here's Flagg talking about the injury, and I'm not going to call it a benching, but he was kind of on the bench at the end.
Probably get some scans or whatever, make sure everything's all clean, but, you know, I thought he's just a little sore.
I just want to keep eye on it.
You know, ice it, do some rehab, and should be good to go.
I wasn't myself. I wasn't impacting the game at a high level.
I wasn't doing the right stuff.
So, you know, obviously, it's a easy decision for coach.
And he's just out of trying to win the game.
So, I mean, you know, those guys did a great job, you know, battling back down to take 20.
A little more than that one point.
So they did an incredible job just to battle back and put us in a position where we could have won the game.
So Cooper Flagg is 18 years old for another seven weeks.
18. That is insane.
Mavericks, by the way, your NBA finals pick, you can.
I'll give you a mulligan, you know.
I don't even know if they're a playoff team, Colin.
I'm sorry.
It's October.
Austin Reeves looks like the best player in the year.
It's October.
He looks like the best player in the association.
It's October.
Okay.
All right.
Jay Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
So it's very interesting when you live in Chicago.
And everybody is so uptight about Caleb Williams.
I saw another story today.
Here's the headline.
Caleb Williams is fine.
Everybody relax.
Well, fine's not the standard when, A, you hired the hottest offensive coach on the market.
You upgraded your offensive line by $100 million.
You've had the third easiest schedule in the NFL, and the Packers now are surging.
Fine is when you take your family out to dinner and the bill is like $48 and dinner's fine.
it's not fine if it's the wedding anniversary and you spend $400 and the food is fine.
That's not good enough.
Listen, the numbers are really interesting.
Through seven games from last year to this year, one thing is improved dramatically.
He is getting sacked half as much, and that's really important.
Everything else is the same.
Iber Flus, Ben Johnson, maybe this is just what Caleb is.
told the ball too long, right now longer than any quarterback in the league.
And outside of the scripted opening drive, he's not very accurate.
Maybe that's what he is.
Two staffs, multiple coaches, outside of the sacks coming down, which is important.
You're the same guy.
So if you take out the Dallas Cowboys game, which everybody scores on the Dallas Cowboys,
got an 81 passer rating, five TVs, four picks.
And you say, Colin, an 81 passer rating.
That is fine.
Will Levis had an 81 passer rating last year.
Okay?
So that is not fine.
So again, he's a number one overall pick.
They hired the hottest, most coveted offensive coach.
They spent $100 million plus to upgrade the interior line.
Wide receiver, tight end, excellent talent.
Running back two.
schedule easy only getting harder so the numbers are what they say they are so kind of middle
of the pack and by the way I don't think I'm being harsh I tend to be a guy that's data driven
look at the numbers so if you go to seven games last year with a mess of a coaching staff
and the first seven games this year the numbers are all the same he completes about 61% of
his throws I mean it's not 52% and the opening drive has been very impressive but I'm not
the only one saying is Carson Palmer. My kid came on yesterday. And I said, I don't think he is a
timing and rhythm quarterback. And I think it's a timing and rhythm offense and head coach. And here's
what Carson Palmer said. I just have yet to watch a game where I've seen him excel in the pocket
and, you know, drop back, take, you know, go through his footwork, whether it's five steps,
one hitch, two hitch, three hitch, and then extend the play. You're just seeing him get to the
pocket, look around, look around, and then escape. Just don't see the development there for the
last couple years, and I don't see a comfort level with Caleb's game within the pocket.
So the quarterback class he came out of, Jaden Daniels, boom, day one, star.
Drake May, year two, start of the season, star.
Bow-Nicks last year made the playoffs in the Mahomes-Herbert division.
I don't think it takes that long.
It's just my opinion.
I do think by Thanksgiving of the second year, you're going to kind of see what people are.
So we got a month ago.
But if you look at the numbers last year and this year,
one of the things I've always said is that what was your primary liability in college,
consistent accuracy?
If that becomes your primary issue in the NFL, consistent accuracy,
then that's what you are.
Now, there are times Jordan Love was kind of reckless in college.
He's not reckless now.
Why?
He's getting better coaching.
Like sometimes you don't get the college coaching.
Sometimes you get much better coaching in the pro.
So you can have an issue in college that disappears.
Right.
Like Johnny Mansell looks small in college.
I watched his first NFL game.
He was even smaller in the pros.
That's a problem.
Right?
Like so does your issue carry over?
If it does, that's who you are.
So I do think you can win games.
I do think he's exciting.
I've said the word horsepower a hundred times.
But the numbers are the numbers.
And, you know, timing and rhythm coach, not a timing and rhythm quarterback.
Doesn't mean you can't win games.
But remember, the Lions and the Packers are in this division.
The Lions have the best offensive line arguably in the sport,
a Super Bowl quarterback, weapons everywhere.
And the Packers are the youngest offense.
And over the last three or four weeks, they're getting better, fast.
So that to me is not fine and relaxed.
Those are not the two words I would use, fine and relax.
right like if you spend
let's say you spend a hundred thousand dollars to upgrade your kitchen
and you come in and you look at it it shouldn't be fine
if I spent a hundred thousand dollars from my kitchen
I should be like sweet this is awesome
so I mean the coach the schedule
the old line upgrades and I've been saying this
I think the bears offensive talent's good DJ Moore's good
just that catch that 100 this weekend
Colston Loveland Cole Comette d'Andre Swift
Roma Dunj is a good player
I will say Caleb's not getting sacked as much, and he has developed a real relationship with Roma Dunzee.
Those are the two things I really like.
He and Roma Dunzee are on the same page.
That's important.
And he's not getting sacked as much.
Really important.
There are some positives.
And that opening drive on script is good.
But I'm not fine and relax is not what I want to hear.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to us.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast's Point Game is
is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
while he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, I say,
you figure it out.
real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest.
Sorry, our first ever human guest.
I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamrock the parrot.
I'd be too nervous.
That's right.
The very funny, Will Farrell, joins Rory Scovel and me, Josh Dean, for an episode dedicated to the
many crimes committed by people also named Will Farrell.
They called to his fellow officer for the nippers.
What are the nippers?
Very good question.
No, I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad dressing?
Simple assault?
And it's a play on word, salt?
Listen to crime lists on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas.
their practices.
And this Mental Health Awareness Month,
there's no better time to pour back into yourself.

Last night, the Dodgers took a two games to one
World Series lead after an epic 18-inning marathon.
Now the Blue Jays look to tie it up in game four.
Coverage begins tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m.
Pacific on Fox. You know, I was thinking about this this morning, between Freddie Freeman's walk
off in the 18th and Trump's tariffs on Canada, we're not being very nice to our neighbors to the
north. We're just not being very nice. I don't know if the Blue Jays have anything left. They
march through the Yankees, marched through the American League. They're a great team,
but they lost their clutch hitting George Springer, who was great with the Astros, great with the Blue Jays.
he's probably gone in the series or certainly limited.
You lose on the road in 18 and exhaust your bullpen.
It felt backbreaking to me.
When Freddie Freeman hit that thing out, it felt backbreaking.
So again, the Dodgers bullpen was more rested because they went and spent $335 million on Yoshi,
and all he does now is throw complete games, which helps the Dodgers bullpen.
So last night after the game, Blue Jay's manager, he's got a new game.
solution for O'Day,
Shohay Otani. He's not going to pitch to him anymore.
We're trying to pitch around him.
You know what I mean? And you trust
Sir Anthony to make pitches to do that.
And sometimes for pitchers,
it's hard to do that, you know, when you're
kind of trying to throw a ball and
didn't put it where he wanted to put it. But,
you know, he had a great game. He's a great player.
But I think, you know, after that,
you just kind of take the bat out of his hands.
And not to give away secrets, but this pretty much
what we should expect going forward?
Yeah.
Listen, when you come for the king, you best not miss.
And I felt like last night they missed.
Barely, I mean, it was a game that could have gone either way.
Warning track balls all night.
But they had their shots last night.
I mean, the Dodgers stranded 18 runners.
The Dodgers relied on a guy from the Tacoma rainiers that had been cut three times,
Will Klein.
And they got a hit off him.
So I just think, you know, it feels like it is meant to be.
To me, the three four best players in the series are Otani, Betts, Vlad Guerrero, Freddie Freeman,
and the Dodgers.
I mean, Yoshe now is, Yamamoto is he four or five?
I mean, when you're going complete games in the postseason and dominating lineups,
like the Brewers and the Blue Jays,
It just feels like, I thought the Dodgers were going to win this thing anyway, but, man, I'm not sure how you overcome last night.
I'm not sure.
It just kind of felt like the oxygen got pulled out after Freddie hit it out.
Here's Dave Roberts on the Blue Jays trying to pitch to Otani.
Playing with you, there's no bigger clutch player in the postseason.
You know, I play with Barry, but, you know, to see, you know, Schneider walkie with nobody on base,
to make sure he doesn't beat him.
You know, I've never seen anything like it,
certainly in the postseason.
And this guy's going to be pitching later today.
And that's what's crazy, but, you know, just good at bats.
And you knew that he was going to do something special tonight.
And John was going to make sure he didn't kind of finish the game.
And thank goodness we got Freddie Freeman in our lineup, too.
Yeah, I mean, listen, Los Angeles knows how to handle stars.
They always have Matt Stafford,
Aaron Donald, Justin Herbert, Jim Harbaugh, Sean McVeigh, Otani, Betts, Freddie Freeman,
their proximity to the Pacific Rim is certainly valuable.
But Otani was doing a lot of this stuff in Anaheim.
And we said for years, Mike Trout, go to the Yankees, get on the stage, you've earned it.
I'm watching last night, and I'm thinking, and this is not a shot at the Angels,
but the Dodgers are so well run.
and the advantage to playing for a big market team
or a team with a lot of money is
better people hit behind you,
better people hit in front of you,
they don't absolutely rely on you.
I said that's about the late Kobe Bryant when Shaq left.
Kobe wanted to be the man.
He didn't want to be the only man.
That's why five-star players go to Ohio State and not Purdue.
They want to be surrounded and elevated by the best players.
So I think Toronto's a great team.
I think they're a fantastic team.
I don't know what you could.
Sometimes the answer is, we don't have one.
It's like Michael Jordan, the Phoenix Suns.
What are we going to do?
I don't think there's an answer to Otani, Freeman, Betts, and the Dodger starting pitching.
So I saw this quote this morning.
This would terrify me if I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan.
I've been very pro-Jerry pro-Dak this year.
Jerry Jones is not happy with the Cowboys record.
He will consider trades to make the team better.
Stephen Jones, Charlotte, step in.
Get in front of Jerry.
So the Cowboys are actually in a really good spot.
Four first round picks the next two years.
Highly entertaining this season, but not good.
So one of those picks is going to be a top 10.
And next year's draft is loaded with what.
What you need in the first round, great edge rushers and a few corners.
So the teams that should be really, really working on trade deadline deals,
Rams, they did yesterday and went and got a corner from the Titans.
Colts, New England, could they get another pass rusher?
Buffalo, I mean, Buffalo's past defense is pretty good.
The offense is fine.
Could they use another receiver?
Could they use a defensive stopper on the interior?
So the trade deadline is for specific teams.
It's not for the New York Giants, unless you want to move somebody.
New York Giants are not going to be a playoff team.
Move somebody.
Get a pick.
If somebody needs an interior defensive lineman, Dexter Lawrence had better days, maybe that's the guy.
But somebody has to step in front of Jerry.
I've said this.
Sometimes when you make a trade and you make a deal, you don't look good for six months to a year.
that's Dallas moving off Micah.
That's the Lakers moving off Shaq.
The Lakers knew.
First year and a half, it's not going to look good.
We got to get Kobe a partner.
They did.
But right now, the Cowboys are the 10th best team in the NFC.
So just don't get in your way.
It's painful.
It's ugly.
Couldn't be going better.
What you need in the first round, the draft has a lot of, corners and edge rushers.
You don't need a quarterback.
Seven teams do.
They'll move up.
You can move down.
and turn two first round picks into additional three, four, and five round picks.
So it's really, you're not going to see it until April.
Dallas is in a really good spot, just not today.
And here's Jerry, uh-oh, on a potential deal before the trade deadline.
If I saw a proposition for us to help this team, no matter what this score was today,
then I would look at it on the merits of him of this team.
trying to be cured, but that's why you'd go get him, is that you'd think it could help your
defense. One player, we one player away on defense. I think we're not. Yeah, they're not.
But you could be a first-round edge rusher and a first-round corner, and because you moved off
Micah, maybe you can find another interior backer, slot corner two, or a safety. So Cowboys
now have the quarterback and flexibility and draft picks. That's a great place to be. That's a great place
to be. The Rams yesterday went and got a corner. That's what the Rams should do. The Rams don't have
a hole except corner. That's what the trade deadlines for. All right. Game four, Derek Jeter will be
joining us third hour. He was up late. Nick Wright is joining us with her hierarchy top of next hour.
I don't think, I don't know if you can top last night. The team that wins game three of the
World Series wins about 70% of the time.
I think it's the same thing in the NBA finals.
Game three is kind of a deciding game.
Game three or game five.
I don't, yeah, I just, I think that's a lot to overcome.
Real quick, Colin, you want a little breaking news in the NFL?
Yeah.
Tyler Shook has been named the starter for the Saints against the Rams this week,
according to Ian Rappaport, and the line has gone up from 13 and a half to 15 in some spots.
Does that do anything for you?
I'll take the Rams.
I don't like big favorites.
I will take the Rams.
Like it.
Nick Wright, hurt hierarchy next.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called,

We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
