Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast. For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Starting point is 00:01:17 With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. Now let's get this party started. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Right, good morning. Hey, good afternoon. It's Kavino and Rich, the C&R show in for Colin on the Hurd. It's a pleasure to be here. I'm Steve Kavino.
Starting point is 00:02:14 That is Rich Davis. What an aggravating morning. I know. Rich is so out of sorts right now. It's so funny. That's what happens. I feel like I busted in here like Kramer. Like, huh.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Yeah, but you probably woke up late or probably had to have your breakfast. So you're a mozy in here. And now everything's last minute and you're dropping stuff and you're forgetting things. We have lots to get to. Rich will explain, don't worry. But we're normally on Monday through Friday, 2 to 4 on the West, 5 to 7 on the east. It's a pleasure to get the day started early with you. I mean, it is a pleasure to fill in for Colin.
Starting point is 00:02:50 Yeah, let's go. Hold on. Bucket list item, check. Traffic, what a freaking nightmare today. Yeah. I'm not going to harp on traffic, but, you're not going to harp on traffic. When your schedule changes just a little bit, you know, Collins on at 9 a.m. out here on the West Coast. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:05 I'm sure he deals with this, but school traffic now? What is it to pick up lines and drop off lines? I don't want to sound like the old guy that's like, we walked uphill both ways to school. Safety measures, you know, you want to make sure you drop your kid off. There's all these little lines you've got to wait in now. I mean, listen. You've got to sign him in and sign him out sometime.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I'm not an old guy. I grew up in the 80s and 90s. But when I went to school, don't you feel like you took the bus? You walked or your mom or dad dropped you a few blocks away and hey get out of here. They patted you on the head and said, have a good day. Now it's a whole process and whole procedure for sure. Way different. I live a few blocks from a school and it is wrapped around multiple blocks.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Yeah, yeah. I don't know how these people operate. It's unbelievable. And East Coast people start to deal with that this week, this coming week, right? So your whole morning commute changes, just warning you. Rich was in traffic and he didn't have his coffee. everybody so he might get a little cranky just warning you i'm not that i'm not that i'm not that you know guy that can't function without my coffee i'll just get a headache you know that feeling of
Starting point is 00:04:10 like you're dependent on it well who you send in to get you a coffee i want to see how this works out a good power struggle in the room like let's see spot yeah yeah not am i going to run during a commercial like i'll tell you what i get your own coffee or something and i cavino i'm perfectly fine with the crappy coffee here in the office. I'm good with that. Anyway, we have lots to get to. It's Thursday. Low expectations. I'm fine with that. He'll have the curing cup at work. That's good enough for me.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Good enough for this guy. Again, Covino just a kid from Union, New Jersey. Rich Davis from Franklin Square, Long Island. We're from the East Coast. We're out here in Los Angeles. Hope your day. Your morning was better than Riches. Now, on Thursdays, we throw it back. We always throw it back on a Thursday. We reminisce. So we go a little old school when 50 hits. That's what it's called.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Old school when 50 hits. That's what it's called. Old school when 50 hits when 50 hits on the clock, when 50 hits in life, you get a little more old school. And let's just say Bob Barker, legend, is in the news. So our discussion has to do with Bob and what he did in his final days. All right. So stick around for that. Lots of Aaron Rogers today. And Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:05:15 But we're not going to talk about, you know, the actual show, the Bachelor. Yeah, I know. It was terrible this season. I didn't even watch this season. The Bachelorette was the most boring thing. I'd ever seen. And, you know, I watch by default. I don't want people to think, this dude watches The Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:05:31 My girlfriend watches The Bachelor, so I'm trying to be a good guy. Sometimes I get into it, but this show's a nightmare. Are you insecure that you won't admit that you watch The Bachelor? Yes, absolutely. It's against everything I stand for. New audience, Colin Cowher. I got established. Millions and millions of people, Kavito, immediate.
Starting point is 00:05:46 It's like, just so you know, I don't watch The Bachelor. I'm not that guy. You know. The Bortchler. But there's a twist to it today, so we'll get to that. But we got to talk Aaron Rogers to kick off this show again. C&R, Kavino and Rich, in for Colin on the herd. What a pleasure.
Starting point is 00:06:03 We filled in for everybody pretty much. Yeah, I was his time. The world tour. Now, we got Ryan here. What's up, Ryan? Guys, great to be with you this morning. Always a pleasure to see you, bud. We're going to have to get this coffee thing figured out, okay?
Starting point is 00:06:16 I know, I know. Not acceptable. Now it looks like a high-maintenance B. Kind of needs his coffee. Honestly, it is a... It was the first thing you should. said when you walked in. You know what it is? It's a difference. I really need my coffee. It's a difference between a
Starting point is 00:06:28 10 or 15 minute drive over here or 45 minutes. I was scrambling around. I told you. I busted in like Kramer. But we're going to have a lot of fun. Ryan's got the herd line nudes. Danny G's here. Spotty's here. The whole crew is here. You can play along at home again. Spots on the video at Covino and Rich. You can
Starting point is 00:06:44 also chime in. If you don't want to call in 818-907-0-606-2, hit us up at Covino and Rich. Most interactive, most inclusive show on radio. according to us. So we'll figure out the coffee, Rich, but I'll tell you what I saw. Just two days ago. By now, everybody should have caught up, okay?
Starting point is 00:07:04 We're talking hard knocks. Right now, I think the best show on TV, better than The Bachelor. Better than Winning Time? Not better than Winning Time. Not better than Winning Time. You know, I can go on a whole rant where I don't know which actor on Winning Time deserves an award more. I'd say John C. Riley.
Starting point is 00:07:21 John C. Riley's pretty good. Yeah, Dr. Buss. I think Jason Segal as Westhead. Then again... The dude that plays Magic Johnson by far as the best. Then again, Adrian Brody is Pat Riley. You know what? You're right. It's hard to decide.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Danny G. I take back what I said. The best show on TV right now is winning time. I thought you love this fool on Netflix. I already finished it. I love that. I love any VATO show. Shout out to all the VATOS locals forever. Second best show right now is Hard Knocks on HBO Max.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I've heard some criticisms that it's a little boring. the season. Well, it's also like an Aaron Rodgers PR push. Like, look at this guy. He's the greatest. He went from he went from weird dude going on darkness retreats and doing ayahuasca and his family doesn't love him to, man, look at this guy. What a teammate.
Starting point is 00:08:09 He's a winner. Going to Broadway show sitting at Knicks games and Rangers games. I'm glad you said weird dude, okay, because I feel like this PR stunt, Hard Knocks, has shown him in a greater light. The guy has made every perfect move since being in New York, right? He seems to be getting along with all
Starting point is 00:08:24 the young players. They're going to games together. Playing slap ass. They're having fun. You've seen a different side to Aaron Rogers. But he said something in this past week's episode that made me say, ah, there's the weirdo guy. There he is. Flaws. Weird guy. In Aaron Rogers, take a lesson. I would like to say that I'm one of them. I also have a Floby. A Floby. A what? Dile it up. Dile it up. Floby right now. Type it in. You need to see the Floby. one of the greatest inventions ever. Welcome to the exciting world of floby precision. I'm telling you, how it didn't make it, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I asked my mom for it all the time. She never got it for me. She got me some buzzers, but yes, the old floby. Billy Mays going to the... Is there really anything better than a floby? Is there anything better than a floby? There's plenty of things better. Now, I will say, let me explain what's
Starting point is 00:09:24 going on here. Nathaniel Hackett's there. They're in their little Jets conference room, their meeting area, some players, some coaches, and the Floby comes up, which is one of the most famous infomercial items of all time. And Aaron
Starting point is 00:09:40 Rogers is like, I don't know what that is. I don't know what you're talking about. According to the most of the thing, by the way, Nathaniel Hackett really used the floby. I mean, he straight. He's like, yo, to the skin. And again, for those of you who don't know, it's like a hair-cutting device, like a vacuum hair-cutting device,
Starting point is 00:10:00 and it's been around since the mid to late 80s. It would suck your hair up and cut it with precision. It was clips, adjustable clips on it. And the reason I was even more surprised Aaron Rogers didn't know is not only was it very famous. It's almost like a joke, the floby. Like, hey, man, did you get your haircut with a floby? Is that it did get second life.
Starting point is 00:10:22 It came back again during COVID. Remember we weren't able to get haircuts? Remember that? Remember that awesome era of our life? I remember at one point my barber's like, I'll come to your house and wear a mask. And I'm like, yeah, I guess that's our only option. Because during the early days of COVID, when we were like, what's going on? People were investing in floby.
Starting point is 00:10:40 People are like, you know what? We got to get something where we won't mess our hair up. So it had second life. It came back again. By the way, I just got an update. Mark Davis, Danny J. gets his haircut with a floby. Is that true? No, that's too classy.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Mark Davis is like that girl on TikTok that will cut her bangs too short and then be like, oh no! That's the Mark Davis. Danny G. Our resident Raiders guy. But, okay, so it's a hair cutting device. I can talk about hair. By the way, when you just said Mark Davis, I'm thinking between him, former President Trump, there's, there are some real heavy hitters out there that can't figure out the hair. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:18 I'm not saying I have. I got like the white guy, you know, part on the side, comb over thing. But when do you think at some stage of the game? I'm not going to bury you for that because we both have pretty basic haircuts nowadays. We have a sort of dates you. Yeah, like a younger dude in his 20s, they have that like... They have grandma hair. Have you seen that mean?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Broccoli head? It's like an 80-year-old woman's hair. It's sort of like a 20-year-old guy's hair. It's just like... Yeah, it's got to be messy in the front. It's sort of thing going on. That's how you know a kid is in his 20s, maybe early 30s, got the basic look going on right now. Hey, dead giveaway that you're a few thing.
Starting point is 00:11:53 40-ish, he got a fade with like it's combed over. Yeah, you know, you got to mix it up a little bit. Maybe I'll get a floby and just start experimenting. So again, it made us think, though, Aaron Rogers. There it is. There's the weirdo we know. It doesn't know Floby? How does he not know that?
Starting point is 00:12:13 We did a little poll around the office and only one person didn't know the Floby and that was Moncey, one of the update girls. We love Moncey, but she's like, I never heard that. That's cool, cool, banana. I don't know. She's also like 30. Yeah, she's a little younger. She's younger, so I don't know. Your thoughts, hit us up at Covino and Rich.
Starting point is 00:12:31 First of all, should Aaron Rogers know the floby? Yes. But have you been suckered into an infomercial item? Dude. Maybe they're sports related. Maybe they're not. Maybe you're under the influence or something because we grew up in the culture. Remember when you refused to stop using your shake weight?
Starting point is 00:12:46 I'm like, dude, it's getting a little weird. I was a big shake weight guy, yeah. You know, sometimes I travel with it. Um, we grew up in an era of staying up late, watching these infomercial items and thinking to ourselves, maybe a little buzzed. I need that. I got to get that. And the floby was one of those items, the OGs. So I want to know the best and worst purchases.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Okay. So let's get interactive. Let's get involved. Let's get this Thursday going. At Covino and Rich. At Steve Covino, at Rich Davis. 818-907-0-062 if you want to chime in. but I feel like I'm an expert, a connoisseur on these pitchmen.
Starting point is 00:13:28 We've interviewed them. I've bought these items. I wanted every one of them. For me, it was the excitement of, does this thing really work? I mean, ever since I was a little kid, I would get these things. I would order them. My parents would be like, what's that? I got it for dad.
Starting point is 00:13:42 I bought some stupid drill bit. I bought something I saw. And the truth is, I would say if you did the stats, much like, everyone's wives or girlfriends who just order things on Amazon late at night when they're sitting around like, you know, up late after a couple drinks. I think most items are purchased either high or drunk. Yes, yes. Not many people are sober and they're like, let me buy the flavor wave oven. I bought the flavor wave oven and it was supposed to cook a frozen steak in like two minutes.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Like you don't need to defrost your meat. Just put it in this oven. It made the lights in my house go out. It reset my... Sounds like a you problem. Sounds like an electrical problem, though. I've heard great things about that. Is that operator error from Rich Davis spot?
Starting point is 00:14:26 It's possible. Was it a bad item? I don't know. So let us know. I've heard good things about the flavor wave. Now, it's not an infomercial item, but I'm going to tie it back to sports. Again, Kavino and Rich in for Colin on the herd. It was one of those things you did order, though, and did want really bad as he
Starting point is 00:14:44 throw it back on a Thursday. Every kid wanted that football phone, courtesy of SI growing up. You may have had that subscription just to get the phone. I know I did. Totally did. I know someone that had a cheeseburger phone. No, but I had that football phone. One of my biggest regrets.
Starting point is 00:15:02 And it probably worked, but you had to be really committed or maybe even really desperate to push this hard to make it happen. I remember it was around a college day, staying up late. By the way, Montclair State University class of 98. making the Red Hawks proud today. The only thing people know about Montclair is that Aaron Rogers just bought a house there. And that Steve Cabino. And that Cabino graduated. No, I graduated from there.
Starting point is 00:15:30 But before I knew I wanted to be a world famous broadcaster, I said, well, I don't know what I'm going to do. Maybe I'll work at Benegans for the rest of my life. So I was up late at night watching this guy. And every night he'd be on TV. His name was Carlton Sheets. And his whole premise was to buy properties by real estate with no money down. And I thought to myself, I could do that. I got no money.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Perfect for me. I'm living in mom's basement right now. My parents' basement. I could do this. And I would see them every night. I'm like, you know what, dude, I'm going to make all my wildest dreams come true. I'm going to be some sort of business mogul. I'm going to be Lord Business, some big real estate guy.
Starting point is 00:16:09 And I ordered Carlton Sheets real estate plan, no money down. Oh, it was called no down payment, I believe it was called. No down payment. And it was all VHS tapes. Dude, this thing had it cost me $300. You know how many samplers I had to serve at Benegans? How many turquial tools I had to serve to afford this thing? Let me tell you, I never opened it, never looked at it.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Biggest waste of money ever. That's just one item. So the infomercial item you got suckered on at Covien on Rich. And should Aaron Rogers know what the floby is? Yes. I think the answer is yes. I'm going to say the one that worked to me, would you call this an infomercial item or not? the perfect push-ups.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yes. Those are good. Those work. Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, hold on to that because we're going to go over to best and worst. And later on today, we'll talk more Aaron Rogers. He may have delivered the best insult ever. What was it?
Starting point is 00:17:03 We'll explain. Plus, we throw it back, old school 150 hit. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:17:47 I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement
Starting point is 00:18:04 to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations,
Starting point is 00:18:28 stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Starting point is 00:18:59 Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jett. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because. of crack.
Starting point is 00:19:19 I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really?
Starting point is 00:19:37 Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your Podcasts. Rocker! You like that guitar? Yeah. That's our producer, Danny G. shredding
Starting point is 00:19:55 live in the studio. Yeah, people don't know that. In our sumptuous, Fox Sports Radio Studios. Sumptuous. Sumpchewish. I use that word all the time. I'm Kavino. That is Rich.
Starting point is 00:20:07 The CNR show in for Colin on the herd. At the end of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double all the cash bank you earn. That's right. Everything you earn doubled. Seriously. See terms? Check it out for yourself at Discover.com slash match. Now, lots to get to today.
Starting point is 00:20:21 We throw it back on Thursdays. Old School 1 50 hits, all right? And it involves legend Bob Barker. Great golfer? Got to tie it back to sports. Great golfer. Great golfer. But a legendary host, and he did something pretty legendary in his last days.
Starting point is 00:20:39 We're going to throw it back and tell the story. We have lots of Aaron Rogers to talk about today. We got to talk about Harrison Bates. if we have time. Because what happened to this guy and my New York Yankees sort of bothered me a little bit. Bothered me. You still watching? That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:20:55 I am. You know, slow clap for you to still watch the Yankees. Yeah, yeah. Come on. That is unbelievable. Should it bother me. We're going to tie that into breakups later on. But Aaron Rogers, hard knocks talking about it, didn't know the floby.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Dude, didn't know the floby. I never had a floby. I was always intrigued by the floby. You know, we're getting a lot of feedback on Twitter. at Covino and Rich, in for Colin on the herd, like this one from EP Workshop, said, George Clooney famously cuts his hair at the Flobe. He said that during COVID. Google it.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Aaron Rogers should know. And by the way, if it was Sauce Gardner or something, he didn't know, I would get it because he's a younger guy. Sauce Gardner didn't know who Jessica Alba was. He's 20-something. I mean, I'm a little shocked by that, but more understandable. In fact that Aaron Rogers didn't know, I find that peculiar. How did he miss that?
Starting point is 00:21:48 So we open it up to you. Fox Sports Radio Nation. Hey, did they mention the Floby in Wayne's World? Probably, yeah. I think he got it as a gift or something. I don't know. 818-907-00-62. 818-9070.
Starting point is 00:22:05 No, he got a gun rack as a gift. No, Dway. Zink hit us up on Twitter. He goes, the Floby was even mentioned in Wayne's World. Swing. No, way. Way. 8-98-907-0-0-6062. want to chime in.
Starting point is 00:22:17 We're going over the best and worst infomercial items. Now, I have a list because I remember. I lived this. I loved it. But I'm going to give you a sports one, a baseball one. That I don't remember the name of, though. But I'm sure some people of the herd could remember and look back. Oh, I remember. I had that. There was this blue home plate.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So it was a baseball home plate. So shaped like a home plate, which is shaped like a pentagon of sorts. Right? But it was blue. You know your shapes. Oh, it was a very sumptuous plate. Very, very lavish. Sumptuous.
Starting point is 00:22:51 It was very nice and high tech for the 80s. And it was blue, and it was about eight wiffle balls that went inside it, right? And as you stepped, I have to demonstrate here. As you stepped, imagine I'm stepping toward the pitcher. You step on the pedal, and it would shoot the wiffle ball up, and you would just take your hacks. Oh, I do remember this thing. Like Nathaniel hack you. I'd be taking hacks?
Starting point is 00:23:13 Yeah. You see what I'm saying? every time I stepped, you hit the pedal, it would shoot the ball up. Boom, I really felt like it helped. Maybe why I had 27 Little League home runs. It's probably the reason. Legend in New Jersey. But I'm serious.
Starting point is 00:23:29 It was one of my favorites as a kid, and it was an infomercial item. I'm like, hey, have parents out there. If you love your kids, you get them one of these to work on their baseball skills. And it worked. I just don't remember the name of it, but I did love it. I was a sucker for every work. out piece of equipment. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Like the bowflax, the total body gym. All these devices where the late night infomercials would be like... Who got you? Chuck Norris or Tony Little? The gazelle? Yeah. Oh, I got to tell a quick story about my co-host, Steve Covino. If you're new to Covino and Rich, I've shared this before, but if you talk about
Starting point is 00:24:06 infomercial items, we're in Vegas for a big fight or something. We're walking the casino floor. Ryan from the herd has met Kivino for the first time. today. This will give you an impression of who you're dealing with today. All right, let's hear it. We're walking the casino floor. Good impression. And I see, maybe like every 30 seconds, I see Kavino wincing, like,
Starting point is 00:24:25 and I'm like, your foot hurt, you know, your back? You're back? Like, what's going on, buddy? Something's where, something's going on where Kavino's not comfortable. I'm like, are you okay? He was wearing one of those shocking
Starting point is 00:24:40 ab belts while he was walking the casino floor. That's not right. I'm all business, man. I was business, man Try to get those abs ready for the pool But do you realize what is needed to this? You have to like loob up your belly Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:24:54 Put this belt on and he's like You know what a good time to do this is While I'm walking around the Mandalay Bay or something So funny I'm walking around my thunder gut With this belt on top of it being zapped Sizzling my abs. I'll give you one thing. That's commitment Yeah you know what I gotta tell you
Starting point is 00:25:08 It works though I mean I don't have the abs to show you or to prove it But it does like Make your abs contract It did work but I did return it as well, so I don't know, take of it what you will. The ab belt. Rich, you know what?
Starting point is 00:25:21 I mean, you delayed Dadbod for quite a number of years. You know, I'm sure there's some people that will say that's a great item, that ab zapper thing. But speaking of fitness informational items, like you said, they really get you because you're up late at night. You're probably thinking about life. Like, let's get that loser at his vulnerable moment to order this. How many people in the early 2000s I don't want to see fell for because it did work. It's a matter of you committing to it, right? It's a matter of you putting in the effort and getting something out of it.
Starting point is 00:25:51 Tony Horton's P90X. Dude, that was huge. That went from infomercial to like... Lifestyle. Right? Like, people were doing their homework out. Before Crosby. Before Orange Theory.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Before all those cults. Dude, I had it. I had it. Yeah. And I learned a few things from it. I mean, to look at me, you would not believe that. But that was a big one. Definitely a big one.
Starting point is 00:26:12 So you're right about the workout equipment. I got to say the infomercial, you know what it's sort of been replaced by? Social media pop-up ads. Like if you're scrolling through Instagram or TikTok or Facebook, I've bought the T-shirts where it's like, hey, you want to look more cut in your t-shirt? Buy these. It's like three brands I bought. The built basics, the fresh clean teas, all those ones, they're personal. Hide your dad bought.
Starting point is 00:26:37 Yeah, yeah. Cover your gut and make your arms look bigger. Don't have the six-pack you had before kids. Buy this shirt. I've purchased them all. You know what I bought the other day, Ryan? I bought, it's like a little bar that's like this shampoo bar will, it'll stop you from graying. If you see gray's coming in, use this shampoo.
Starting point is 00:26:56 I was like, salt. You know they've had that for like 25 years. It's just called Rogaine. I don't want to lose hair. I don't want my hair to go gray. So anytime it's like, this will help, sign me up. You know, that's a great point, though. Infomercial commercials.
Starting point is 00:27:12 infomercials have been replaced by those quick little ads on social media. That and Shark Tank. Yeah. Because if someone has that kitsy idea, bring it to Mark Q. That's what you got your scrub daddy for sure on Shark Tank. But again, the best and worst infomercial items, if you do want to chime in, the numbers 818-907-0062. Yeah, different line today. So say that one more time.
Starting point is 00:27:33 It's a different phone system here. Say it slow. Heard Studios, the sumptuous studio, we're broadcasting live from right now. 818, 907, 0,062, or hit us up at Covino and Rich. At Covino and Rich. Now, you're staying up late. There was another guy that was on all the time. And a lot of these dudes just great pitchmen, right?
Starting point is 00:27:57 Like Billy Mays. We've interviewed Billy Mays. Great dude, but great pitchman. Rest in peace, Billy Mays. There was a dude, his name was Don LaPree. And Don LaPree used to be on every night telling you that you could make millions selling classified ads. Buying and selling classified ads.
Starting point is 00:28:16 And I bought his product. I bought, dude, I bought all of these. If Phil Swift is pitching it, I'm buying it. I have Flex Seal. Didn't you have a, you made a robot out of screen doors, right? I made a canoe out of a screen window just in case. But Flex Seal, again, does work, but it's really messy. On Twitter, Don hit us up.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Don, actually, no, it was Rick who said, Don West, used to pitch baseball card sets on the home shopping network. Oh, is that the guy was like, Jim Mint? This was in 1987, Don Manningly, is that the Jim Mint condition? Sounded like macho man a little bit? Dr. Rob hit us up saying, Slapchop, boys.
Starting point is 00:28:55 My grandfather thought it was the best invention since the microwave. By the way, slapchop works, was a great invention for real, had that weird pitch guy to look like Beavis from Beavis and Butthead. He also did the shamwam. Remember that guy? I wonder if, to tie it back to Aaron Rogers, though, if Aaron Rogers didn't know the king of all the infomercial items, the Floby, does he know the slapchop?
Starting point is 00:29:18 Does he know the shamwow? You were out with your buddies. Does he know the Spirouli? You were with your buddies at college or in your 20s, up late drinking or smoking weed. Aaron Rogers was on ayahuasca retreats. Different. There was no TV. Or a different level of commitment where he had camped the next day.
Starting point is 00:29:34 He was in bed by nine, right? Like, how do you not know that? He must not know DD7 or the oxy cleans. Ray said, you got to bring up banjo minnow fishing system guaranteed to catch fish. I don't know. Oh, but you know what I am a sucker for? All those amber vision sort of glasses, I used to love those. Or blue blockers or ones where you could actually fish your drive better.
Starting point is 00:29:57 You're the guy that toys like, at night when I drive, everything's lit up. Like, you need those bad ones. Yeah, you know what? I'm a sucker for those, man. So the best and worst, if we don't get to your phone call. you got to chime in at Covino and Rich. This whole phone system is a little different here. Well, you know what it's time for?
Starting point is 00:30:12 It's time for the Hurdline News. Let's go. Turn on the news. This is the Hurdline News. All right, guys, we'll start off with some NFL news. Now, stick with me here because on the surface, when I say Lou Headley, a rookie punter made the Saints 53-man roster. I get it, snooze fest, whatever, you don't really care.
Starting point is 00:30:34 This guy's story is incredible, okay? 30-year-old rookie, former Australian rules football player, former community college transfer to the U, former tattoo shop owner and former construction worker. Dang, he's like Forrest Gump. How about that, right? Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Dropped out of high school, wasn't sure what he wanted to do, tried the Australian rules football, ended up moving to Bali, bought a tattoo shop, he's covered in ink. He also worked construction doing major industrial projects,
Starting point is 00:31:04 got back into football, came to America because he saw all the other Australians trying out for college football teams, played at a community college, went to the U, now he's a 30-year-old rookie on the Saints active roster. That's awesome. You know what, props to that guy. I love that story.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Meanwhile, over in Jacksonville, Doug Peterson's wife's like, and you had to cut our son? Just, I mean, listen, this guy never gave up on his dream and just kept pursuing it no matter what it took. Now we'll turn our attention to one of the more popular college football teams, obviously, Texas football, even more so now, that they're entering the SEC, and of course they have Arch Manning. While Manning is currently the backup to Quinn Ewers, there's no doubt Manning will be ready to go once he gets a shot.
Starting point is 00:31:51 How do we know this? Well, his uncle, Eli Manning, made sure that he got him ready by explaining in an interview with people. Quote, I think my first catch with him, he was like four years old. I'm just drilling balls right at. Right at him. They're bouncing off him, but he didn't cry. So I had to tough him up and make sure he was tough enough to handle all of this. Ryan, I started coaching girls' tee ball. My daughter's six. I think I'm going to implore some of these drills, execute.
Starting point is 00:32:18 You know, just hit little frozen ropes at the kids. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. When you're a little kid, I'm always, I'm always wondering. You've got to teach him to stay in front of it, which. I'm going to bring him to the batting cage on Happy Gilmore? They're six, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're two years behind, Arch Manning. You've got to start picking this.
Starting point is 00:32:34 I know. Hey, stop picking your nose. Stay in front of the ball. You know, Ryan, not to put you on the spot, would that be the third? If Archmanning makes it to the NFL five years from now, you know, three to five years from now, would he be the first third generation possible pro bowler? If he was great. Because Archie, his uncle and dad, and now, like, I don't think there's been a third generation guy yet, right?
Starting point is 00:32:56 We know a lot of father-son combos. Sure. You're seeing a lot more of those now, like even with you have Marvin Harrison's kids. the number one receiver. Yeah, exactly. So, yeah, I don't know. Third generation. We're getting to that point. I think we're getting to the boat. We're going to start to see third generation. I think it's going to that point where we're all old.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Yeah, that's what it means. I think that's what you're getting at here. And the last story here. We'll wrap up with Joe Burrow. The first time in over a month, he did return to practice for the Bengals, who was sidelined with a calf injury. There was speculation. Burrough's extended absence might have been due in part to an ongoing contract negotiation.
Starting point is 00:33:33 But head coach, Zach Taylor said that was absolutely not the case. And at least for now, he is proven correct as Burrow returned to practice. Thank you, Ryan. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurdline News. It's weird when there's a segment you hear.
Starting point is 00:33:52 And you listen usually. I'm like, wait, I'm usually in my car listening to the herd line news. Oh, now you're in the, yeah, now I'm in it. Yeah, it's like, oh, that's pretty cool. That is weird. Is Kavino Enrich? CNR show in for Colin on the herd. Cvino. That's me. Steve Covino. That's Rich Davis.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Jersey guy. Spotty's here. Danny G. Super producing. Ryan's hanging out. Thank you. Hey, Danny G. For hanging out with us. When you hear Ryan talk about Burrow and how he's going to be ready. Are we really downplaying the Bengals week one? They're less than a field goal favorite over the Browns. To me, I went over these on our show yesterday. Kavino and Richie the afternoon, but to me, if you could get the Bengals minus, I know it's in Cleveland, but the Bengals minus two and a half? Are we really thinking that Cleveland has made that much progress this offseason? I'm taking that too with you, but I don't know, because the Browns are being
Starting point is 00:34:51 slept on because everybody hates Deshawn Watson. Yeah, they were the most talked about team, and now no one wants to, no one even wants to talk about Deshaun Watson. What do you think, right? Yeah, I mean, I will say one thing, the Browns have oddly had great success against the Bengals, I mean, even last year when the Bengals were great and the Browns were not, they gave him an absolute butt-wop-in. I think on that Monday night football game around like Halloween. That was one of the more confusing games of the NFL season. Out of nowhere. You were like, what? Because it wasn't just a win. It was like they whooped their ass.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Yeah, exactly. So I'm guessing it just must be an indivision thing. Maybe there's questions about how healthy borough may or may not be. I know we're going to talk some more Aaron Rogers, some more NFL. I know you had a theory on quarterbacks on the bachelor, but I have one more more game I was just looking at because when you're talking about that low point spread, that underfield goal. I'm a Niners guy. I don't know why it's under field goal too. I know it's in Pittsburgh. Is everyone so high on Kenny Pickett? I just feel like there's a couple of these games. Yes, he can. I don't see why Niners minus two and a half isn't a lock. Big questions about Brock Purdy going up against that Steelers defense, I guess.
Starting point is 00:35:59 Brock Purdy is so poised. So poised. He is so poised. He is so poised. There's a lot of things. I'll give them poised as well. We're going to talk a lot of football for sure. Open to discuss anything. 877, actually 818-907-0062. Joel in South Dakota wants to say good morning. New number. Who does? Joel, what's going on, man? Camino and Rich in for Colin on the herd.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Hey, guys, good talk to you. What's up, man? Well, I'm listening to you guys talk about the commercials, and I think you're missing the clapper. This was the precursors to all the smart home stuff, Google Nass. All these guys are just standing on the shoulders of giants when it comes to the clapper that started it all. Not only that, everybody knows the song. Everybody except for Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rogers is like, what's the clapper? Clap on, clap off. The clapper. Everybody knows.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Would that be awesome or weak if somebody had it, though? I mean, you heard what he said. It was the precursor. What do you do in your house now? It sounds ridiculous, but I don't want to say because I don't want to mess up people's systems, but you're doing Siri and Amazon. You know, Alexa, you you have a smart home everything you do spot our you know our buddy that's in the studio doing the video everything in his house he'll be like turn on living room lights start the thermostat at 70 degrees everything is a smart home yeah that actually isn't the OG really the that is really the OG but the flow B is up there and again if you just joined us Aaron Rogers had no idea what it was and Nathaniel hack here was like I got to show you and everything stopped and they watched a video and that aired on
Starting point is 00:37:30 hard knocks this week, which hopefully you caught up on by now is actually a great episode. So I think we talked enough about infomercial items. That was fun. Thank you guys for hanging out with us. Now, Jesse Palmer was in the news today. And I would assume you never know what people know. Aaron Rodgers doesn't know the clapper. Doesn't know the flobby.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Maybe you don't know that Jesse Palmer, former NFL, quarterback is the host of the batch. Former NFL quarterback is very generous. Yeah. But I mean, that's how most people may remember him, listening to Fox Sports Radio, listening to The HARD. But he is the host, and he's a good host.
Starting point is 00:38:17 You know, Rich and I are sort of critical, or very host pompous, very pompous when watching other hosts. Because we host. That's what we do. Yeah. You know, so when we see a former athlete, you know, throw his hat into the ring. Let's see what this guy's got.
Starting point is 00:38:30 He's a good host. He is. He hosts The Bachelor. The Bachelorette boring season. There's a new season called the Golden Bachelor coming up. We got to talk about that for a second. And yeah, yeah, but hold on. He has an idea. He said something about there's an athlete. If he can have any athlete be the Bachelor, who would it be. It's an interesting thing. Right. So we're going to let you know who that is. We'll get to all that coming up. Plus some more Aaron Rogers. How is finding a franchise quarterback identical to finding a wife? We'll explain. Wayne. Kavino and Rich in for Colin on the Herd. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Dynasty the King. What's good, y'all? It's your main man, Michael Smith,

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clipper Taylor the 4th. Starting point is 00:41:43 Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jay and I'm Alex English Each episode we pick it here
Starting point is 00:42:01 unpack what went down And try to make sense of how we survived it Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill Waxing all about crack in the 80s To be clear, 84 is big to me Not just because of crack I'm down to talk about crack on day But just so y'all know
Starting point is 00:42:17 At this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack So I'm starting to see that there's a through line We also have AIDS on the table right now So Thank you for finishing that. sentence. I don't think there's a more important
Starting point is 00:42:30 year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Good morning. From the West Side. This is my opportunity to shine out all
Starting point is 00:42:49 the vatos, Locos, forever. Oh, L.A. Karnas. You're in Sherman Oaks. Live from the mean streets of L.A. Yes. it's Steve Kavino and Rich Davis. What's up, everybody? And Rich. Together, we Voltron together and form the show.
Starting point is 00:43:06 CNR in for Colin on the herd. It's a pleasure. I think we filled in for everybody now. Just trying to get around. Ben Mallor. He's on in the overnight. You want to do that? We got to make the Baba Ginoosh and fill in for Ben.
Starting point is 00:43:18 We're on every day, 5 to 7 Eastern on Fox Sports Radio. 2 to 4 on the West. Hit us up at Covino and Rich. and just two weeks ago, we launched a bonus podcast. So if you dig what we do, we're doing a bonus show. It premieres every Wednesday. So a brand new one premiered yesterday. It's kind of like an after show because Blubber Lips Davis here, Rich.
Starting point is 00:43:38 Oh, that's me. Yeah. He promises. He over promises all the time. And we run out of time, never get to it. So we had to create a show out of it. And it's available on the Fox Sports Radio YouTube page, wherever you stream your podcast, search, over promise, Kavino and Rich.
Starting point is 00:43:53 And you know what, this week's episode is, a lot of fun. Kavino's girlfriend was watching hard knocks with him and was stunned. Yeah. And called it a fraud when she found out that the Jets and Giants play
Starting point is 00:44:07 in New Jersey. She didn't know that. She's from Idaho. She's so fraudulent. She's from Idaho and she's like, wait, you grew up in Jersey? Wait, what? And, you know, we talked about... She thinks it's so misleading. So we talked about the things like you just somehow missed. Everybody misses like one random fact about sports
Starting point is 00:44:23 or something in life. Oh, you just didn't No, like Aaron Rogers with the floby. Yeah. Sometimes you miss something, and I'll give you one of them. We were talking about, one of my buddies, I was, he's like, yeah, Lakers. How are they in the Lakers? I'm like, really, serious? Minneapolis, the lakes, and they moved to L.A. kept the name.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Like, there's little fun facts. Dude, I'll tell, I'll give you one from me. Which may seem common knowledge to you, but somehow somebody missed it. That's the point. When I was in college, I think, no joke. that's when I realized pickles are cucumbers I think he's lying too
Starting point is 00:45:01 I thought they were different things I learned that like two years ago It's possible So yeah Catch a podcast And there's someone driving now Richer like Pickles or cucumbers
Starting point is 00:45:10 No way I thought they were like just similar I didn't know there was a pickle A pickled cucumber So anyway Remember next hour Old School and 50 hits guys We're going to throw it back on a Thursday
Starting point is 00:45:22 And Reminis A story that involves Bob Barker and shows you used to watch. Just put it that way, okay? Because he did something cool on his last week. And should I be freaking out as a 49ers trend about Nick Bosa? We'll talk some NFL updates as we get closer and closer. Dude, it's one week, one week until NFL kickoff.
Starting point is 00:45:39 So a lot to get to filling in for Colin on the herd, CNR. But The Bachelor. The Bortchler. A show that some watch. It's a guilty pleasure for a lot of men and women. A lot of times guys will be like, yeah, it's a show I watch with my girlfriend or wife. I find it entertaining. I haven't watched in a minute.
Starting point is 00:45:56 But Jesse Palmer was asked about athletes that could be the bachelor. Take a listen. Do you think Tom Brady would be a great bachelor? He'd be legendary. And that's another one that would be great because you could use all of his houses. I mean, we literally could go international. You know, he's in L.A. He's driving his Rolls-Royce SUV around.
Starting point is 00:46:19 He's got a compound he's building in Miami. I'm sure the guy has a place in. con somewhere. That just sounds like exotic dates overnights for me right away. So again, very budget friendly. Tom Brady would be good. There is the Irene Shaikh issue. But if she's willing to kind of
Starting point is 00:46:35 just chill out, you know, just for a couple months of filming, I think we're solid. Now, it makes you think, aside from Tom Brady or maybe he's the number one answer, who would you want to see? And by the way, wasn't there speculation not to get all gossipy that Arena Shaikh,
Starting point is 00:46:51 as he called her? Arena Shake, his girlfriend. friend might be back with Bradley Cooper. I know they have kids together. She was like Posen Toplis on the beach. They got kids. Whoa. Yeah, I don't know. My thought is, I wonder if the average guy who loves the NFL would watch The Bachelor if it was Tom Brady. We'll get to that next. C&R. In for Colin on the herd. We got more next. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman. make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human.
Starting point is 00:47:53 potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that
