Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey, Jonas, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
Starting point is 00:00:43 help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends
Starting point is 00:00:59 on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me.
Starting point is 00:01:23 This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Starting point is 00:01:43 Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRedia.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh, it is a Monday, a glorious Monday.
Starting point is 00:02:35 It could be the Ryder Cup, the NFL college football. We've got it all. Colin Wright, Colin wrong, one hour from now. What a showcase last night. Jamack, the NFL, block kicks, 58-yard field goals. If you get the ball last, if you don't win you, at least cover. I remember a time when you used to get four out of a game. five picks right i mean it was myles is money in the bank by the jet skis on
Starting point is 00:03:01 saturday i didn't even need to watch sunday this league is nuts and last night is an exclamation point on nuts absolutely crazy sunday in the nfl i mean packers felt like a loss column yeah so dallas is one two and one and dallas feels pretty good about themselves the packers are two one and one and they think the sky is falling take a deep break Redd-Bah fans. You are still, for the third year in a row, the youngest team in the NFL. In the last two weeks, part of being young is you can't figure out how to close out games against inferior teams.
Starting point is 00:03:41 You just can't figure it out. The Eagles, the Chiefs, the Rams, they got veterans. They close out those games. That playoff experience, that wisdom. Green Bay is crazy talented, but Matt LaFleur is in the head coach. He's a chaperone. This roster is full of 24-25-year-old. And there's not many great corners in the league.
Starting point is 00:04:00 And let's be honest, George Pickens had a day. You know, you let go your most talented corner to Baltimore, so you came in a little corner light. Micah Parsons did not help. Where's the pass rush? I'm not seeing it. One sack. So this was just two very comfortable quarterbacks. Jordan Love and Dak Prescott.
Starting point is 00:04:20 And they, as they say, eight. They had six touchdowns, no picks. They had all day to throw. they were both comfortable. They completed 75% of their throws. And it's the NFL. The Saints gave Buffalo in Buffalo trouble. The Chargers got whacked by Jackson Dart.
Starting point is 00:04:38 57-year-ard field goals are chip shots. Every third kick is blocked. And yesterday in Dublin, Aaron Rogers, look 24 years old. So it's like this is what it is. The weather's still very good. So the offense is good. You can throw the ball down the field. It'll get cold.
Starting point is 00:04:56 teams won't be able to throw the ball down the field. Teams will be more injured. That was just two really good quarterbacks. Both were incredibly comfortable, and Packer fans can be fatalists. It's like you're going to win the division. You had a bunch of bad teams coming up. Let's be honest.
Starting point is 00:05:12 You beat a Lions team with two new coordinators that was trying to find themselves, and I got a little high on you, and you did two. And then you beat the commanders on a short week at home, and Jaden Daniels wasn't 100%. And then you play, you know, you're feeling yourself. And then you play a couple teams and you're, you have a fourth quarter lead against Cleveland and you blow it. Jordan Love had a rare bad pick.
Starting point is 00:05:37 And then last night, your clock management wasn't very good. But again, this is the youngest team in the NFL. Now you've got a stretch packer fans where you face Cardinals, Panthers, bingles. You could be six one and one coming up and be fine. This is September football. It's crazy. I can remember Ryan Fitzpatrick of the bills years ago tearing up September and they gave him a huge contract. Weird stuff happens.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Sean Payton's always been a bad September coach. So again, young team, and this is the downside to young teams. Stoicism, temperament, poise. Green Bay still doesn't have that. Green Bay got a little high on their supply and we're lucky to settle for a tie. What am I bad bunny? All I know is this. They're good.
Starting point is 00:06:24 they're young, they're talented, the coach, the quarterback, but, but their temperament, and sometimes I'm not sure they understand the game has a clock, the management of it. Matt Lafleur said after, we're just not there yet. I think any time mistakes happen is disappointing, whether it's year three with your group of guys or you got a rookie in there. It really doesn't matter at the end of the day because nobody cares. bottom line is you got to get it right. The operation was just way too slow.
Starting point is 00:06:56 I don't know if our guys didn't know we were in two minutes or what, but ultimately the communication's got to get better. Myself to Jordan, Jordan to the huddle, and that's bottom line. For the record, I thought the Micah Parsons deal, I said Green Bay is pretty stacked. It's a great roster. They don't need a first round pick because they got their quarterback, and they've got their weapons,
Starting point is 00:07:20 and they've got with Micah, they got a pass rush, so they don't need first round picks. They can get away with it for about two years. But Micah hasn't really delivered on the promise, right? Like overall, not getting the quarterback enough. By the way, if you're Dallas, you have to feel great this morning. Think about this. I'm Dallas.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Everybody crapped on that Micah trade. My take is the Cowboys are going into the next two drafts. They don't need a quarterback, and about eight to ten teams do. And now they've got four first round picks, and they can turn those into other second, third, fourth round picks. So, Dak playing this well, and the Cowboys, even without C.D. Lamb, moving the ball this well. Dallas is in a great spot. They have something they haven't had in years.
Starting point is 00:08:04 A healthy quarterback, two really good receivers when C.D. Lamb comes back. Yeah, they don't have Micah, but they have four first round picks, which gives them unbelievable financial and draft flexibility. Dallas. I'm Dallas. I'm watching last night, and I'm like, you know how lucky they are that DAC is better post-surgery? I mean, they got to feel, you guys all crushed the Michael Parsons move. And I said, Mike is good for Green Bay. He's what they need. Dallas is going to be fine. They're going to be fine. They're actually significantly better than I thought. So just take a deep breath. Green Bay. Dallas feel pretty good. They should. I'm looking at the Green Bay schedule now. I got at home against Cincinnati. By the way, Cincinnati plays tonight. It'll be a short week.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Arizona, you trust them. Carolina, you get Philadelphia at home, Pittsburgh. A lot of Ws come and take a deep breath. All right. It is official. The Kansas City Chiefs are back, and the Chiefs are in Lamar Jackson's head. Lamar Jackson, five for five on that first drive.
Starting point is 00:09:11 The minute he got off script, Lamar Jackson was awful. Had a pass a rating of 51. So Steve Spagnola has seen him so many times. My opinion, they got a little bit of a beat on him. He's got 10 touchdowns and 9 giveaways against Kansas City. And again, Achilles had his heel and Superman had his crypto night. Everybody's got somebody.
Starting point is 00:09:34 And I just think he struggles with him. And simultaneously, Lamar Jackson is struggling. I don't want to hear about the defensive injuries. Everybody's banged up. Minnesota barely could field an offensive line. I don't want to hear about it. It's Baltimore's offense that worries me. Lamar doesn't work against Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:09:51 They faced him so many times. They're in his head. And simultaneously, uh-oh, uh-oh, I said to J-Mack last week. Just get Xavier Worthy back. He's a deep threat. He'll open up the stuff underneath. That's exactly what happened. Juju Smith-Schuster still make him plays.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Xavier Worthy's not a number one, but he opens up. opportunities for guys underneath. They have a chance now to get back to the Super Bowl if they can develop any kind of run game. The defense is excellent. The coaching's the best in the league. And Mahalms, good Lord, he still got it. And Xavier Worthy is all they need.
Starting point is 00:10:27 In about four weeks, they're going to get Rishi Rice back because Travis Kelsey, you can no longer count on. He'll show up to the big games, but you've got to get Rishie Rice and worthy. The O-Line's getting a little bit better. But I feel like Kansas City's a bacteria that is resistant. to antibiotics. And it's like the league had a chance to wipe him out. And now Kansas City is going to cough on everybody and pick up wins.
Starting point is 00:10:51 You had a chance. There was a window. Here they were. And I don't know. Rishi Rice in three weeks. I watched that passing game yesterday. And I'm like, yeah, I know there's injuries. But it's fine.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Worthy gives them a deep threat. That will open it up for Rishie Rice and Jujo Smith-Schuster. So you'll have a one, a gadget guy number two, and a three. And Travis Kelsey be good in big games. and the other hallmark of the Chiefs is they don't beat themselves. They had one turnover this year. Eagles, Eagles, Kansas City and Buffalo. They just don't turn the ball over.
Starting point is 00:11:22 So I think you've got to feel, I feel like Kansas City watching that game. I don't feel I'm overreacting. It does take time. You can't go into a game without worthy and Rishi Rice and an older Travis Kelsey and no run game. You got to give them something. At the trade deadline, they have to consider an upgrade, either O-Liner run game. But I think you come out of this thing. They've worked very hard, worthy mattered, rice around the corner,
Starting point is 00:11:48 and Kansas City's back. Here's Patrick. We've been working extremely hard, and we want to have success, and we've been just making little mistakes here and there, and that causes frustration. But at the same time, we've been learning from them. We'll still learn from this game. With Xavier being back, it's just that threat of being able to win over the top.
Starting point is 00:12:07 It's scary for defenses when they're going to bring pressure, knowing that you can get it to that guy. short or deep and then he can make plays happen. And so we had good answers. There's a couple here and there that I think I could have been better on as far as some of my answers. But overall, I thought we had a good game plan and we executed it well. Listen, it's almost like the Ryder Cup. The Americans weren't bad.
Starting point is 00:12:24 The Europeans were better. It's almost like Kansas City. Mahomes hasn't been bad. He's kept him afloat. He's been a life preserver. And so is Andy Reid. But you've got to give him something because they don't run the ball. And Kelsey, at this age, isn't dependable.
Starting point is 00:12:38 You've got to give him something. This week, they got something. They got an over-the-top threat and worthy, and suddenly the offense looks good. Now they need a number one receiver. They're not going to be a great run team this year. They're not. But Rishi Rice, before the suspension, was a number one. Then you had Juju Smith's prior to.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Were these your two and a gadget guy with that defense and that coaching, that's a Super Bowl bubble team. Now, I think the NFC is better than the AFC this year, top to bottom. But don't, don't, I know, oh, the injuries for Baltimore. the Vikings could barely field an offensive line. Like, this is just the reality of it. You got all sorts of guys banged up right now, more than I recall. But overall, I was blown away. J-MAC, Saturday was great.
Starting point is 00:13:26 I don't know why. I mean, the Bears blocked a kick to win. I don't know what it is, but apparently blocked. It used to be when you blocked a kick in the NFL. That you would get a big guy would get a hand on it, and he would just tip it and then about 20 yards down the field. Everybody was told to stay away from the ball, don't touch it, right? Now, guys not only block it, they volleyball it.
Starting point is 00:13:49 They spike it. They get two hands on it. I don't know what's happened, but it's just everywhere. Like kicks now are like probably most of the Greg Olson told us last week. You shouldn't kick because of math. The second thing, I mean, the Cowboys got two points blocking an extra point. That's crazy. The game.
Starting point is 00:14:07 It felt like that turned the game. It was about to be 14. nothing, then it's 13-2, and things snowball from there for Green Bay. But that's a good point, Colin. So remember how Belichick used to say that the first four games are like a preseason, right? I think that's how we should look at it gambling-wise, because special teams now is a huge factor in the NFL. Eagles had a punt block for a touchdown. How about was it Jacksonville?
Starting point is 00:14:31 Jacksonville had two huge returns. Like San Francisco special teams are garbage. I'm done with the Niners, by the way. Yeah. With Niners special teams, John Middilcoff's been telling this stuff for you. They've been bad for four years. So bad. So bad.
Starting point is 00:14:44 And then they reach and draft a kicker in the third round. It's like, guys, you can draft kickers. The seventh round, you have two picks. But regarding the Raiders, can you text Chip Kelly and your boy Pete Carroll and be like, why are you settling for a 54-yard field goal to win the game? Like, they didn't try to get more yards. You know why? You know why?
Starting point is 00:15:04 What are we doing? Because Gino Smith had three picks. Yeah, but here's the thing. They were in Bears territory. Gino only turned it over in his own end all of yesterday. Like, I'm kind of joking. But, yeah, that was just brutal for the way. That game was incredibly ugly.
Starting point is 00:15:18 I want to talk about that with the Bears. It was one of the ugliest games, but it was wildly entertaining because these are not great teams. Caleb, Caleb was a good game-winning drive there. I was like, there's no way he's pulling this off. He delivered. I mean, look good. And had a couple of key drops by his guys. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.

We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:16:55 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential. title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
Starting point is 00:17:14 podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes.
Starting point is 00:17:39 Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:17:59 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:18:20 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast.
Starting point is 00:19:05 How hard can it be with the Adamania Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Wait, what sex? dating at 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, welcome back wild Colts Rams game. 2-2 at well. Matt Stafford.
Starting point is 00:20:09 One big connection all year. It was the game winner. He got a deal terrible if you're the Colts because you had that game and you lost it. Here's the good news on the Chicago Bears. They beat the Raiders. Here is the good news. If you go to the first four weeks of last year and the first four games that this year for the last two seasons, just with Caleb Williams.
Starting point is 00:20:32 This year, he's giving you a touchdown more a game. He's giving you a much better third down percentage and throwing for about 375 yards more per game. So clearly, Caleb Williams has better coaching and is more effective. It's real progress. He's making hard throws. He's making them over the middle of the field. He feels like on every play he could break it with his legs.
Starting point is 00:20:58 He's taking fewer sacks. There is no question. He makes hard throws, and he had Colt Comet drop one yesterday. He and Roma Dunzee absolutely feel like this is going to last a while. Now, penalties are a huge issue that a horrible false start in a fourth and one, pre-snap operations, pre-snap operations need a lot of work. But Caleb Williams, last year at this time, to this year at this time, it's working much better. It's not perfect.
Starting point is 00:21:35 It's kind of sloppy. I mean, they got three picks on Gino Smith and could have easily lost. So success is not a straight line, but this is Chicago. They can't get quarterback right. Last season, they were finding way to lose. They lost on a Hail Mary last year. They lost on a block field goal last year. They were three and seven and one score games last year.
Starting point is 00:21:55 Time running out, lousy clock management. They were just a mess. This year, yesterday they're on the road. They can't block Max Crosby. They had crucial drops. They had eight penalties. And they won. And that we said.
Starting point is 00:22:09 This year is not about winning and losing. Last year they were two and two. This year they're two and two, two, two, four games. It totally feels different. You got the right coach. Caleb's moving in the right direction. The operations is ugly. But I don't think these guys are a perfect fit.
Starting point is 00:22:24 The coach is very much about structure. The quarterback likes to kind of do, his own thing more than I'd like, but he's a huge talent. So I said in preseason, stop looking at the wins and losses. What will it feel like? It feels like, oh, this is way better. This is like this thing could work. I mean, Drake May has officially popped. Jaden Daniels popped really quick. Bo Nix outside of September looks like it works. Michael Pennix was horrible last weekend. He was pretty good yesterday. So it stages. Successes. is not a straight line. And I don't think these guys are the perfect mix. One guy's a structure
Starting point is 00:23:05 guy. The other guy's kind of good off platform and moving. But you can see you're getting a touchdown more game from 33% on third down to 45%. That's a real improvement. They were giving you 250 yards of offense last year. It's closer to 330 yards this year. Roman Dunezay and Caleb, that's going to work. The run games, what it was. I think the O line's better, but the run is what it is. They could not block Max Crosby, who outside of Miles Garrett's my favorite defensive player in the league, but they block a field goal and win. And here's what Ben Johnson told Caleb before the game winning drive. It's easy to get frustrated, but we don't panic. We just don't. That's not who we are and that's not what we do. I remember talking to Caleb before he took the field.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I said, this is what you're built for. These are the moments that he thrives in the most. I think that's really been the story of his life, to be honest with the end. And I know he came through for us in a big way. The reason Bears fans exploded after that block kick. That was frustration for not only the last 12 months, but maybe for the last 12 years. Because the Bears have lost so many games like that, so many different ways. And Hail Marys and Block Kicks and lousy clock management.
Starting point is 00:24:26 And it's like it's not just luck. They blocked a kick. They blocked a kick, players said, because of what they watched on film. They saw weakness. Last year, a year ago, Caleb Williams was complaining. Nobody would watch film with him. So this, I mean, I'm watching it yesterday, and I'm like, listen, they should have put this thing away about an hour ago.
Starting point is 00:24:48 But when they blocked that kick, I'm like, you know what? Buffalo struggled with the Saints. You take it. You're happy. Caleb won. it's all good. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's bust right into it, Colin. Start with that Rams Colts thriller out here at SoFi. An amazing game. And as you're watching here on the screen, Adonai Mitchell, the young talented receiver for the Colts. You never want to say one guy lost the game,
Starting point is 00:25:18 but oh my gosh, he took 14 points off the board, celebrating too early. I cannot believe this is still happening in 2025. It's like, guys, listen, athletes, don't do that. We don't ask much. You're all millionaires. Just get into the end zone about halfway through, and then you can play with your food. He made some great moves, by the way, on the catch.
Starting point is 00:25:41 He broke like two tackles. He's a Texas kid. He also had a holding on a huge Jonathan Taylor run. So he had a bad, bad day. But it's like, guys, stop showing off. You are employees. Your job is to get into the end zone. that's what receivers do.
Starting point is 00:25:56 That's your job. You don't need to celebrate every catch and every touchdown. And I feel bad for the kid because reportedly he's really loved in the locker room, but the Colts blew this thing. Yeah. He's a big time talent. Colts were up 20 to 13 with like six minutes left, I think, five minutes left. Hey, have a bit.
Starting point is 00:26:13 And then the Rams came back. And your guy, Tutu Atwell, who I think had one catch on the season. And then he's 88 yards gone for the game winner. Here he is. Yep. Sean McVeigh brought him back 10 million one. year and he did it for this. 2-2 is the opposite of a volume receiver, but about once every two weeks, he breaks a big play. And the Rams are like, I got my number one in Puka, I got my star running back,
Starting point is 00:26:37 we're going to bring in Devonte Adams, I've got Stafford. I just need a kind of like a Xavier worthy, but not nearly as good. I need a gadget guy or a guy that can go upstairs and take the top off and that's what he did. But listen, if you didn't watch this game, the Colts, are going to win their division. They went to toe to toe to toe with the race. I'm telling you again, I like their roster. And Daniel Jones, don't look at the two picks. The last one, the last one you're up against it.
Starting point is 00:27:06 They were carbon copy. Like, he's lobbing it up, and the safety read him like a book. But he is not in a quarterback. But when I look at him, I'm like, he is size arm. Steichen doesn't run a simple offense. My takeaway is he's a B to a B plus quarterback. He's at least a B quarterback. Guys were schemed open.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Jones was hitting him. I mean, I'm not going to go over. I just think the takeaways, the Colts are good. This is not like some fake three-game nonsense. They're legitimately an anti-tee. Warren's a stud. Taylor's a stud. Pitman's probably the best number two in the league.
Starting point is 00:27:42 They've got Pierce. Now they've got this kid. The Colts are going to win this division. This is a realty, and their offensive line, at least early, held off the Rams. Now, by the end of it, you know, Verse is doing what he does. Verse is an animal. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:27:58 He, Max Crosby and Miles Garrett. Totally different. By the way, there's a highlight of Verse just trucking, like, I think the center of the guard, and then he just did a Superman dive. Jones alluded it, but I was like, oh, my God, this guy's amazing. Hey, I need to say this, Colin. Puka Nakua is a superstar. I don't want to hear any more of this.
Starting point is 00:28:15 It's just Justin Jefferson and Chase. Puka is in that class. I think he had 13 for a buck 70. Zavian Howard. was burnt toast. And they knew, I mean, Devonte and Stafford aren't quite there yet. They knew they were going to Pook on every big third down. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:30 And they still couldn't. He caught the ball sliding. He caught throws up top, low. He is un... I mean, is he the best fifth round wide receiver ever? Elmeron St. Brown's the best fourth. I think he was a fourth round receiver. I mean, Puka is something else.
Starting point is 00:28:46 He's tough, man. I just love that guy. And they got a lot of weapons. And Rams to me, like your big takeaway. In the NFC, give me your top three right now. Philadelphia beat the Rams. Philly won Rams, two. Those are my two I have in the NFC championship before the season.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I think Green Bay is going to write the ship and win their division and Detroit's going to finish second in that division. I think Green Bay is going to be fine. I do think, though, if we're just projecting forward, I see some troubling signs for the Eagles. We'll get to it later in the week. Oh, yeah. But I think, as of right now, if you ask me now,
Starting point is 00:29:21 I think Rams probably come out of the NFC. All right, next story, Colin. I love how you wedge this into the first hour. Brock Purdy, my guy, not his best game ever, coming back off injury, toe and shoulder. And, you know, he was not spot on. I'll let you take it right. Go ahead. He was not great.
Starting point is 00:29:40 First of all, he was sailing it all day. His interception was probably the worst interception of his career and maybe the day. The one was tipped. Come on. Well, Matt Jones, 4 TD's a pick. Brock Purdy this year, four TDs, four picks. What was the knock on him in college? He was reckless.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Just settle down, buddy. I know you want to get it out of your system. Brock Purdy stinks. Jay Mack was raw. I get it. That's fun. Purdy did not have a great game, period. End of story.
Starting point is 00:30:07 The Niners all around were sloppy. We talked at the open. Special teams was crap. World and the league. We're special teams in the league. Yeah. Now, without Bosa, are you ready for this stat? No, Bosa.
Starting point is 00:30:18 They did not have a sack or a quarterback hit. Not one. Trevor Lawrence, all day to throw. finding his guys. And then on offense, the Niners were just sloppy. The tight end, the backup tight end, like fumbles. McAfrey had a fumble. I think he recovered it. You had Kendrick born with a drop. They are not buttoned up because they had so many injuries, Colin. You know, like once Kittles back and Ayuk, Jennings comes back and he gets hurt. Ricky Pearsall goes down with a knee. Okay, so the three most injured teams this weekend were Minnesota lost, San Francisco
Starting point is 00:30:47 lost, Baltimore lost. Injuries absolutely matter. I'm not, I'm not saying that. But in the Baltimore game, it was Lamar Jackson. Forget the defense. Lamar couldn't move the ball after the first try. After he lost Ronnie Stanley, he was like, oh, my left tackle's gone. I think the Niners are going to be okay. But again, this injury thing, this is almost every year with Shanahan's guys, isn't it? This is what I said before the season when I picked them for third.
Starting point is 00:31:11 I said, I love the coach. I love their players, but the Rams are not old and brittle. The Seahawks and the Rams have the youngest great defense in the league. The Seahawks have a young defense and a young offense. age matters. What you want to be is experienced. You don't want to be old. Aaron Rogers until yesterday looked old.
Starting point is 00:31:31 You don't want to be old in this league. But to be Josh Allen or to be, you know, Matt Stafford where you're like, you've got a lot of wisdom. And I think San Francisco is brittle, old, and expensive. Yeah. Final on this game afterward, Robert Sala and Liam Cohen had some words exchanged at midfield. Robert Sala obviously lobbed a grenade this week about their Jags stealing signs.
Starting point is 00:31:55 He didn't say it was illegal. He just pointed it out. Here's a video on the screen. And Liam Cohen goes, keep my name out your mouth. And all of a sudden, Robert Sala's like, are you talking to me, you little shrimp? And Sala kind of manned up
Starting point is 00:32:05 and they were ready to squabble up. Colin, I was shocked at this. And then Albert Breer reminded me that the Jags interviewed Sala, remember back in January for their head coaching job. Liam Cohen kind of didn't want to leave Tampa, he was unsure, and then Cohen decides, oh yeah, I'll leave. And Sala would have been the Jags head coach. So I think probably there's some resentment there from Robert Sala, but
Starting point is 00:32:29 whoof, spicy. Final story, Colin, is the Ryder Cup that happened over the weekend. The Europe defeated the U.S. 15, 13. The U.S. was down seven entering Sunday and dominated to make it interesting. Europe is now won. Nine of the last 12 Rider Cups. The big story here was a lot of jawjacking from these gibronies in the stands at Rory McElroy. Let's be fair. It is not a gibrony crowd. These tickets. What is it?
Starting point is 00:32:58 I don't know. This is out of character. These tickets are $1,000 to get in and $13 for a sniff of a glass of beer. So why are guys F-bombing Rory McElroy? What's that? Because the Ryder Cup is loud and chaotic and they're lubricated and they've got drinks in them and they've spent a lot of money and they want to. The Ryder Cup crowds are always obnoxious.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Now, was it over? the top. I think it was. But they're chained on some woman's name. I've lived in eight states. I've lived in eight states. I know how fans are. Northeast fans are more obnoxious. They just are. New York fans, Boston, Philly, New York.
Starting point is 00:33:33 You put a couple cocktails in it, Bethpage. I've lived there for 10 years. California fans, you get some idiots, but it's different. Okay, it's sunny. We have bigger states. There's more space. You get people out east, Philly guy, New York guy. They are Boston guy. It's a badge of honor to be obnoxious.
Starting point is 00:33:53 So, I mean, this idea, now, if you want to cut alcohol sales, go for it. If you want to cut crowd sides, go for it. But the fact that everybody's shocked, this thing has always been a spectacle. That's more like the waste management open, you know, where it's chaos. That's fun. Everybody loves that. But I don't know. Golf is a sport of decorum and, you know, silence.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Or are we changing the rule? If we want to change it, that's fine. I don't care. Golf is a lot of things. golf is the live tour golf is the masters golf is waste management golf is the u.s. open golf is the rider cup this idea that golf is just one thing no it's not i mean michael jordan's there there's heckling the rider cup was started in 1927 it was an exhibition uh it's not an exhibition it matters the difference in this thing first of all it's amazing how good the golf was beth page didn't have any teeth because
Starting point is 00:34:42 they cut the rough so you know it didn't matter if you went to the rough it was a putting contest The difference between these two teams is simple, is that the Europeans, they have a committee, it's very organized, they plan this thing. The minute this thing is over and they're flying back, they're planning the next rider cup. We spitball it every two years, throw it together, we have some personalities that can't play together. The infrastructure of the European golfers is winning this event. That's what's winning. Our infrastructure is not as good. this all the time in the NFL. It's not just about your quarterback. The best front offices,
Starting point is 00:35:21 remember last week, the athletic mann pool. My herd hierarchy is basically according to the athletic, the 10 best front offices. Everybody watches the players. There's a reason Detroit and Philly are good. They have great general managers. The Rams have great front office people. So the Riter Cup, our problem is in our golfers. It's the infrastructure of the Europeans. They are already planning two years down the road. We spitball it with about six months to go. And you can, it's like a bad NFL front office. It's not the quarterback. It's upstairs. So the U.S. Rider Cup team is like the Cleveland Brown's front office basically. Is that what we're saying? So here it is. Rider Cup tickets were 1100 apiece. A mimosa was 30 bucks and a beer was 15. It's not
Starting point is 00:36:04 jabroney's. That's your crowd right. It's it. It's Wall Street guys who are obnoxious. Jay Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Line News. First of all, the Ryder Cup's a team thing in Euro's, the European team is better than us. But our golfers played great. They got into a hole.
Starting point is 00:36:25 And it was a putting contest. And I mean, I swear to God, but Europeans are the first couple of days. I'm not sure they missed a put. It was insane. But it's, I don't want to be like, you know, oh, this is because of Trump. And it's because slow down. It's the Ryder Cup. people are obnoxious when they're lubricated.
Starting point is 00:36:45 I mean, five of the top six golfers, according to the world golf rankings, are Americans. Our guys are great, and they played great. But we have got to be better infrastructure-wise to win this thing because the euros are smart. They're already planning the next. I saw a golf writer out there made a great point. He goes, why is the Masters so good? You know, I don't know why the Masters is so good because it's so organized. They've got the best committee.
Starting point is 00:37:10 They're the most organized golf tournament in America. That stuff matters. All right, I got a lot of stuff here. I mean, I got defending our hooligans. I mean, it's like European soccer. If you see what these fans are thrown on the field? By and large, globally, our fans are great. Our coaches aren't threatening.
Starting point is 00:37:30 I mean, the biggest fear right now in the NFL is Robert Sala's biceps. He, I would worry about Robert Sala more than I worry about some guy, six Heineken's in. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new? Huge news.
Starting point is 00:37:50 We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:38:07 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
Starting point is 00:38:27 where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late night comedy guy, not quite.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time.
Starting point is 00:39:23 You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my GenX squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic beef. Yes. All of a sudden I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that?
Starting point is 00:39:45 I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
Starting point is 00:40:03 So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter. and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, How Hard Can It Be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:40:26 And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:40:49 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing.
Starting point is 00:41:09 That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Big Noon is back in Ann Arbor,
Starting point is 00:41:31 and Michigan's own El Presente is leading the charge. The pregame party starts at 10 a.m. Eastern. Then it's quarterback Bryce Underwood and the Wolverines going head to head with Wisconsin at noon. Big noon Saturday, only on Fox. Yeah, Wisconsin stinks. I'll tell you this, Ohio State, Ohio State and Oregon. I had Penn State against Texas and the National Championship. That's not going to happen. Oregon, Ohio State in the Natty. I'm not sure if El Presidents is going to love that. But, uh, okay. So you had to watch the Giants Chargers game to appreciate what happened. You had to watch.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Can't watch clips or highlights. The Chargers have massive offensive line issues at tackle, so that's a separate story and a separate issue. But Jackson Dart ran it 10 times, design run plays, toughness, Scataboo was a factor. They lost their number one receiver and beat a good team. The Giants have been bad and boring for a decade. But this defensive front, this young quarterback,
Starting point is 00:42:37 whose confidence and moves has a nice arm, it felt promising. I mean, once again, the Mets are a circus. The Jets, you'll see it tonight are probably a circus. And they didn't ask him to do a ton, but you couldn't. Malik neighbor is not available. This, this, you know, offensive line,
Starting point is 00:42:54 eh, promising feels like the right word. No turnovers. He plays with a lot of confidence. He didn't have a huge arm, but he's got a good arm. And he moves one. and they designed stuff for him so the coaching staff likes him. So it's baby steps for the New York Giants. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:43:12 They're not a playoff team, but New England has officially found their franchise quarterback. Denver's found theirs. Washington's found theirs. In Atlanta and Chicago, we're feeling pretty good today. This season, watch Brian Dayball after the game. That is a head coach that liked his quarterback. Probably if it was his choice,
Starting point is 00:43:33 would have started his quarterback. And Brian Daibble after the game was about as excited as I've ever seen Brian Daibol. And I think it's because he went into this game thinking, we can win this game. This kid's been pretty good at practice. This kid's been pretty good in preseason. They gave Jackson his shot. And I've got to be honest with you. I like the vibes.
Starting point is 00:43:54 I thought he was more of a second round talent. I like what I saw. Here's the coach after. That's his job as a quarterback. Make good decisions. Convert. Make the right choice. you know, he wasn't perfect.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Didn't expect it to be in his first game. But a tough opponent, you know, a 3-0 team with a pretty good defense. I think the young man played well within himself. Made a huge play when he needed to to Theo on that third downplay. So happy we got him. Listen, all these quarterbacks in year two, you know, we're kind of figuring out, are they the real deal?
Starting point is 00:44:35 Jackson Dart, that's his first start. So you've got to be fair about this stuff. He did not look overwhelmed. He played with a ton of confidence. I don't think he has a great arm, but it's good enough. He's a good-looking, confident kid. Scataboo's a great find. Malik neighbors can't stay healthy,
Starting point is 00:44:50 so I'm not sure you can count on that going forward, but I don't know. I think you had to watch this game. I don't think you can go to the stat sheet. Malik neighbors, it's confirmed, torn ACL. That's awful. But overall, if you watch the game, game, my take was it's not just the Chargers' All line.
Starting point is 00:45:10 I don't want to hear about injuries. Pittsburgh outplayed Minnesota. I don't want to hear about injuries. The Giants outplayed the Chargers. Okay, the Eagles. I had to double check on this. They had minus one yards offense in the second half. Between last week's first half and this week's second half,
Starting point is 00:45:32 They've become the chiefs of last season. They're winning. They're 4-0 in one-possession games, but the margins have come way down. They have had multiple dreadful halves four games in. And they have a worse point differential at 4-0 than the Patriots do at 2-2. They are 30th in yards per play. There's no excuse. Very good O-line.
Starting point is 00:45:54 Saquan Barkley, above-average tight ends, A.J. Brown, there is no excuse for being 30th in the NFL in yards per play. By the way, J.elyn Hurts and A.J. Brown, AJ's back in the witness protection program, and they're trying to get him the ball. They targeted him nine times. They're not ignoring him. They're feeding him for seven yards. So he's right now, A.J. Brown is a top four or five talent in the league at his position. He's not top 50 in yards or catches. So this, I don't care. You know how I said you got to watch the Giants, the games? You got to watch these games. I don't care about the record. So, I mean, like Buffalo's defense isn't great, but they don't have great personnel.
Starting point is 00:46:37 The personnel here is unbelievable. And what's happening, everybody's banging on Saquan Barclay. Saquan Barclay has become the New York giant Saquan Barclay. Nobody respects the downfield game, so they're putting eight and nine in the box. And so Saquan Barclay, I mean, nobody's going to run if you put nine in the box. So there's all sorts of issues here. people have a book on this team the rams had a book on them and they couldn't hold on and the bucks figured them out pun pun pun at the end and they couldn't come back but i think there's a book on the eagles and not the one that a j brown wants right on the sidelines it's not good and here's seriani after
Starting point is 00:47:16 and the first half he was 14 i look at the statute of 15 that's good that's pretty darn good um and then the second half you know again we didn't coach well enough. We didn't play well enough in the second half. We were able to hang on for the win because the defense was able to get us some turnovers. But the second half, I'm not sure any of us played or coached to our standard there on offense. Listen, there are bad teams and bad units, but that's because they have bad personnel. I just don't love Buffalo's defensive personnel.
Starting point is 00:47:49 I like their offense. They have three tight ends I like. Buffalo's defensive personnel, I mean, Spencer Rattler's slinging the ball around. Cowboys defensively. I don't love their personnel. You could, but you can, you know, we know this isn't baseball where you have to draft the guy and he takes four or five years. You know, in the NFL, a couple free agents, you hit on three draft picks.
Starting point is 00:48:09 You can change the side of the ball quickly? So I will say that, can I just complain about this? So I don't mind celebrating a little bit. But this drives me crazy. So Cooper de Jeanne got a taunting penalty for this. Now, watch this. He got a taunting penalty for that. Fifteen yards.
Starting point is 00:48:31 So we let offensive guys celebrate. It's LFG. They get up and point a finger and offensive guy. He gets up and walks over. And by the way, he doesn't straddle. He moves his left foot. He walks over him. And that's a 15-yard penalty.
Starting point is 00:48:47 A 15-yard penalty. I mean, with where the kickoffs go now, if you complete one pass and add that penalty, You're in field goal range. I don't like that at all. Listen, taunting is when you're getting into guys' face. You grab a face mask, you head butt, and that stuff happens about once a weekend. You can't be given up 15-yard penalties.
Starting point is 00:49:11 If you start adding, I mean, the defensive guys can do anything. They can't hit anybody, and I have said for years, I am for that. I want healthy quarterbacks. But you're letting offensive guys have just a field day. you know, there's got to be some warning for that. That is a 15-yard penalty for that. Sorry for the radio audience if you haven't seen it. But Guber de Jong walks over, but he moves his way.
Starting point is 00:49:38 You know, they were connected. He gets up. Is he supposed to not get up and move? He has to move around him. And football, part of football, there is a little bit of intimidation, a little bit. And if you, he made, he looked down at him, he made sure there was icon. like, yeah, brough, you're not getting past me. That's cool. This is football.
Starting point is 00:49:59 That penalty drives me nuts. Drives me nuts. Colin Wright, Colin Wrong, top of next hour. J. Mack. I got Denver tonight. I don't like Monday Night Football, Dual, Monday Night Football Games, but I want to watch Denver play. Yeah, I want to watch the Jets play.
Starting point is 00:50:17 I wish you had given me more time on your Jackson Dart Love, Colin. Can we revisit that later in the show? I need to put you in your play. You're way wrong on Jackson Dart and the Giants. It sounds like a franchise called by Jackson Dart. Sounds like a guy. Right. Hey guys, it's us.
Starting point is 00:50:37 The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:50:47 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late night comedy guy, not quite.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
