This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated.
So let's get to it.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app,

Welcome in.
This is The Herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be making as part of your day.
Thanks so much.
I'm Doug Gottlieb in for Colin Cowherd.
Collins's back on Monday from Italy, where eventually we'll have a conclusion to Celtics,
Bucks, Sun's Mavericks, Warriors Grizz,
And we already have one team moving on, and that's where we'll begin.
We've got a great show with you.
Listen to the IHeartRadio, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio.com, wherever you're listening.
Thanks so much for making this part of your day, as Colin likes to say.
We'll bask in the glory of NFL schedule release Thursday, which now Friday gives us a bunch of radio fodder to discuss.
Wait to you with Jimmy Butler had to say on his way into the locker room,
through my favorite name for any place in any arena is the vomatorium.
I don't, why did they call it the vomatorium?
I'm sure it has something to do with Rome and people vomiting.
But that's that little walkway area where players go between the court and the locker room,
that little tunnel.
That's the vomatorium, the vomatorium.
Randy Mueller is going to join us later on the show.
He's former NFL GM with the Dolphins and the Saints.
We'll get his thoughts on Baker, on the schedule, on
Ooh, did you see who the Broncos kind of open up with?
The Seahawks?
Got a lot to get to.
And happy national Apple Pie Day today.
Apple Pie Day today.
Just let that sink in for a second.
There's something very American about Apple Pie.
On the other hand, Apple Pie is so much better, al-a-a-moat, right?
Throw a little ice cream on the top.
I mean, I guess ice cream kind of like the peanut butter of dessert.
It makes everything so much better.
All right, let's dig into last night.
We'll get to Luca and careful, careful who you trifle with.
But let's talk Sixers.
We all like obits.
We all like looking at dumpster fires.
And that was one of them.
And the pretty obvious guy to point to has to be James Hardin, right?
It just has to be.
James Hardin's been an MVP of the league.
he's been a dominant player and
though he is not
what he used to be
and he's now finally coming
under the criticism
of some
on his own team, some who have coached
him or work with him,
the idea of
going down without
firing every shot in the
barrel.
Without unloading the clip
which of course is an analogy,
please don't
golly gun reference.
come on, man, this is sports.
He took two shots in the second half.
He didn't make any of him.
His defense, his rebounding was,
it was below the normal level of inactivity for James Hardin.
And I don't know how you react
when you feel like something could be coming to an end,
especially a season.
Desperation in many ways should be a great motivation.
and if you really want something,
if you truly desire something,
you're going to do anything it takes,
move any mountain to make it happen.
That is, in fact, how it works.
At least that's how it tends to work.
Like Tyrese maxi last night,
he's not a great player,
but at least you saw the effort there
of him trying to make it happen.
Hardin felt like a dog.
just chewing on a bone.
I'm good.
I'm good.
And then,
and then Joel M.
Bid, who, like, one of the great thing about Joel M.
Bid is he didn't grow up here.
So he doesn't have,
he doesn't have necessarily the predetermined bias to have to say the right thing.
Right?
He wasn't brought up in the AAU culture.
He just, he doesn't, there's a level of I don't give a, you know what, that is incredibly admirable.
It really is.
You know, it's interesting.
One of my daughters is getting a chance to compete actually in Israel this summer.
And when she posts about it, she sounds like somebody who has been trained on what to say and how to say it.
Right.
And she hasn't.
I haven't had one discussion about it.
Like, I just want to say I'm so thankful to my trainer, to everyone who's helped me.
This is an incredible honor.
Like, it is, like, from the corporate, this is how you release a statement 101.
Nobody's told her, but she grows up in our culture, and that's, quote, unquote, how it's done.
Embedd doesn't embody that.
Right?
There's some bad to it, but there's some great to it as well.
Here's Embeddied after the game on Hardin.
We got it by the aspect that the, uh, the,
Houston James Hardin, but that's not who he's anymore.
He's more of a playmaker.
I thought, yeah, at times, you know, could have been, as all of us, could have been more
aggressive, all of us, whether Starry's or Tobias or, you know, guys coming off the bench.
So he did couch it and say, like, look, he wasn't aggressive, but we all could have been
more aggressive, which is smart, and it's accurate.
So he's not completely throwing him under the bus.
you to compound the fact that yesterday on ESPN, Amari Stademeyer, who worked with the Nets when
James Hardin was in camp, he was a player development assistant, right, which means what are you doing?
You're getting with guys.
You're getting them in the gym.
You're working them out.
And he, and different instances, two different instances in one Salvo is like, that dude,
he's not working.
He didn't work.
Didn't come in shape.
So you, this is Amari Stadamar on TV, right?
Remember, this is not generally the case that NBA players or former NBA players talk about the work ethic of a star player.
But this was Amari.
I can't commit to that.
If I'm the owner of the Sixers, I cannot commit to giving him a max deal.
I just don't see the dedication that I would need to see from my top 75 player.
You know, you have to be able to have a certain level of determination and focus on being the best player you can possibly be.
And also be there for your teammates when they need you the most.
And if he's not capable of doing that, and as a max player, I'm not going to be willing to now give you a max contract if you're not showing me that you can handle the situation.
The two things that you don't want to be talking to me, we all have flaws.
They're not a flawless people.
Everybody has a flaw.
You know, Jordan Kobe, they have plenty of flaws.
Hard to play with.
Hard to deal with sometimes.
Neither of them really went left particularly well, to be totally honest.
right Jordan's jump shot was kind of a line drive
obviously later on his career at times
he became a very good three-point shooter
but it was kind of a line drive like nobody was perfect
there are no perfect people there are no perfect players
but if you're missing
if you're missing a couple of things
or if people question your work ethic
if people questioned your competitiveness
if people call you a quitter
those are things which are
they're just non-starters for me, I think for most people.
Right?
Nobody wants to say, but he quit on the rockets.
Quit on the rockets.
He quit on the nets.
And last night he quit on the Sixers.
You have that quitting gene.
Some people have the quitting gene.
Some do not.
And I know you can sit here and go like, listen, Kobe didn't shoot when they're playing the sons in the playoffs and to make a point.
Like, okay.
But that was also.
the only moment you could say that of Kobe Bryant's career.
I would not excuse it, right?
I didn't excuse it at the time.
I don't excuse it now.
On the other hand, you can kind of go back through a million other things.
And again, Kobe was selfish.
Kobe took bad shots.
Like, he could go a whole game and not take a good shot.
Kobe could be really tough to deal with.
He could be confrontational.
And yeah, there was a time in which he's like, I ain't shooting.
And it was bad.
but that's the only time in his career you could say that.
And you could never say about Kobe Bryant that he wasn't prepared,
that he wasn't committed, that he didn't have the work ethic.
Marri Stadimir calling out his work ethic?
Compound it with the three different teams that he's quit on?
And then you wonder, okay, what happens with Doc Rivers?
And it's completely fair to say that team last night looked checked out.
one, two, three, Cancun could have been every time they brought it in in the huddle.
But it's also fair to point out that Doc Rivers did a hell of a job with that team
when they were devoid of, was it, $33 million in salary when Simmons wouldn't play for him.
But the defensiveness of Doc Rivers, which we've seen over the past couple of weeks,
like Doc Rivers, coaches usually don't come back at the media.
They don't usually stand up for themselves this way, especially Doc who's a guy who's
generally treated with fairly kid gloves.
And some of this is Philadelphia.
Philadelphia just wears people out.
It does, especially when you're not a Philadelphia guy.
Here's Doc Rivers when he's asked about his job security.
I don't worry about my job, Howard.
I think I do a terrific job.
And if you don't, then you should write it.
Because I worked my butt off to get this team here.
When I first got here, no one picked us to be anywhere.
And again, this year, the same thing.
So if that's how anyone feels right,
and I'm going to feel secure about it.
The results face business.
It is, but you don't do it every year.
Every time you're wrong, should you lose your job?
No.
So it's the same thing, all right?
But listen, if you believe that, then go with it.
I know what I did this year, and I feel very good about that.
But, again, if you believe that, Howard, then you just run with it.
Yeah, I think he's talking to Howard Beck, of course,
is a staple of Philadelphia media.
Look, I think it's completely fair to point out the collapses,
to point out how disinterested some of those guys look,
the lack of fight, the lack of ability to communicate
and get James Harden competing last night.
Like, that is coaching.
It's also fair to point out that they hired Mike,
they hired Daryl Morey,
and I'm sure that James Harden last night,
I don't want to play for this guy.
Right.
and now he has a player option or they can extend him.
And it feels like Doc Rivers is saying,
you know what?
You can have him.
You can have it.
I'm good.
You know?
I can go into TV or I can go coach to Lakers.
That you don't get that level of defensiveness and combativeness.
And that's a nice, gentle amount of combativeness, but that's also Doc.
You don't get that unless there's another vine as you're swinging through the jump.
There's another bus on the way that you can catch.
You know there's another gig out there or just the gig that you have.
You're like, the Sixers are an abject disaster, despite the fact they have some amazing talent on the team.
And when you can trace James Hardin's career, when you saw James Hardin's performance,
when you feel the negative energy from a coach who had to be frustrated,
one with the acquisition on some level,
and two, with the player that he had,
and three, with the performances that he had.
And then you have his co-star saying,
he's not that guy anymore,
a former coach and former star player saying
doesn't have the work ethic or the drive,
I think we know the root of the issues.
The only question is, what do the Sixers do to try and fix it?
Kyrie Irving is not having a great week and he hasn't played a game.
We'll get into that.
Outcoming next in The Hurt.
Be sure to catch live editions of the HARD weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.

Do you remember when Diana Ross
Robo's double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with a little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you're just a thing.
But just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed correct.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it,
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.
Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way.

Doug Gottliebun for calling this is The Hurd, Fox Sports Radio, IHeart Radio app.
Do you guys see this news is that Kyrie Irving, because of the uncertainty of his basketball future, Nike unlikely to extend Kyrie Irving's signature shoe deal beyond next season.
Now, I want you to think about this for a second.
obviously Kobe and the Mamba and now they had the Mamba seat tissues,
which are the Kobe's kind of sort of redesign,
then being back in the fold,
those were, I believe, the most popular Nike's in the basketball world.
Those were kind of replaced by the Kairis.
But this is one of those cause and effect sort of deals.
I don't think it has to do with the vaccine
or with the flat-earthing,
I think this is,
you go back to last off-season
when the new Kyrie's were released
and he, on social media,
called them trash.
Like,
I don't know what Nike's left to do.
Like, look, we sell a ton of your shoes.
You make a ton of money on it.
And this is how the,
however it was released and done,
I'm sure it's by the book in terms of their agreement.
But that's a rough week for Kyrie Irving.
When you're watching teams play that I'm sure you think you're better than,
when you've had your general manager come out and say,
are you committed to them long term?
We haven't discussed that,
but we want guys that are committed, available, play for each other.
There's a lot of anti-and-and-law.
And now, you might lose your Nike deal?
It's not a good week.
It's not a good week.
Mark Medina has covered the NBA for years.
He works for NBA Media.
He's the Fox Sports, our Fox Sports Radio playoff reporter.
What's your sense of what happened to James Hardin in the second half last night?
James completely disengaged.
Why do you think Doc was so defensive?
Well, I think that's just how Doc Rivers is as a person.
Likelihood that he's in Philadelphia next year.
James Harden?
No, Doc Rivers.
I guess he...
Let's get Mark Medina for NBA Media,
joining us. I'm Doug Gottlieven for Colin. This is the herd.
Dallas behind an otherworldly performance from Lucas survives forces at game seven.
And, you know, it's interesting. Here's a Phoenix team who last year, you know,
there was the back down from LeBron and Andre Drummond laughing at Jay Crowder on the bench
and imitating LeBron. And that seemed to be the moment, combined with Anthony Davis getting hurt,
that that series turned, right? And it's,
It's one of those like, be careful who you talk trash to.
Between Chris Paul and Devin Booker coming at Luca Donchick,
like it kind of feels like they rattled the wrong guy's cage a bit.
I know that Luca's competitive no matter what,
but that's a guy who seems to play better when you talk trash to him.
what are your thoughts on watching Luca and his ability to not single-handly but feeling like single-handedly he's carrying this team
and even at 30s game seven but the same time stuck gotly been for calling this is the herd okay let's uh
let's get to some of the discussion about some of the other teams um Sean marks without calling out Kyrie Irving
uh boy it sure felt like
he called out Kyrie Irving.
When asked about how committed long-term they were to Kyrie, he didn't answer in terms of yes or no.
But then he said, like, look, and he's, of course, blanketed with everybody.
We want guys that are available.
Well, that's not Kyrie, right?
We want guys that play for each other.
Kyrie's not seen as that guy.
It feels like he wants to get back to the culture of what they had before they had Kyrie.
Before they had Kevin Durant, is that your read into it?
I think you made a good, I connect all these dots, connecting these dots, but I want to be surprised.
Speaking of unpredictability, you got the Lakers and all of the conflicting alliances, right?
Like, you got Jeannie Buss and Kurt Rambis, and then you have Polinka, you have Clutch Sports,
now Phil Jackson coming back into the mix.
like who's really making any decisions and what do they want to do?
Yeah, that's the thing that's really tough about the Lakers,
just feeling that they're always flop Polinka after his exit meetings.
Do they hold on to Russ because they want to or because they have to?
I think.
Yeah, it's fascinating.
People, you know, give Russ the ball.
That's what he's always done, but he can't shoot.
And there's two other guys on that team.
you'd rather have with the basketball
and then he's just kind of
in the way so I don't and that's not even starting
with the defensive end where he
wasn't engaged and has always been
wildly, wildly overrated.
So that one's going to be, that one's going to be
fascinating. How much concern is there in
Golden State? You know, it's
I mean, it's one thing to lose
when a team's up against the wall
but they don't have jaw. They didn't
play well, you know, at
home going back to game four
and then game five, they get a viscerer.
rated. They get run out of Memphis.
How much concern is there?
I don't concern now.
You know, Mike Brown, the acting head collected after the game went 20 and 5.
Mark, great stuff. Really appreciate you join us.
The hoops has been good, but your reporting's been even better.
Thank you so much for joining us on Fox Sports Radio.
Hey, Doug. Thanks for the kind of words right back at you.
All right. It's Mark Medina. He covers the NBA for NBA Media.
It's also our Fox Sports Radio NBA playoffs report.
He'll be in San Francisco for game six tonight.
Let me get you to write music with Heard Line News.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the Heard Line News.
Good morning, Doug.
Hello, Ryan.
Oh, Doug.
It's so good to be with you this morning.
Lots of great NBA talk that you started the show with that we just had there with Mark Medina.
So let's change gears a little bit, getting to some NFL.
So, Win Healthy, O'Dell Beckham Jr.,
played a big role for the Rams on their way to winning the Super Bowl and ended up, you know,
tearing his ACL in that game, but now a free agent and physically unable to perform for a majority
of this upcoming season. We're all wondering where he might land. Well, OBJ took to Twitter to provide
some insight responding back and forth with some fans. When asked about the Rams in their culture,
Odell responded saying, they know where I want to be, can't just play for free. Someone else
responded to that saying tell them to stop low-balling you and he said it's just business it's
nothing personal i get it i think look we'll see how this all plays out but i really do think this
is probably the best fit for obj he's made a ton of money if i'm him i'll basically take whatever
the rams are offering uh i would agree i also i just you wonder about role um and like
look he's had three three devastating injuries two knee injuries
He broke his leg as well.
So part of it is no one knows what he's going to be like, you know?
And I know like at that stage of, for people who don't know, I tore my ACL last summer.
So now I'm, I think it's nine and a half months out.
And I'm back, you know, playing old man basketball, whatever.
I actually play with my AAU team last night running.
How's your old man game?
You know, it's so it's just, I feel good.
moving around, but it just feels so things just feel foreign and your knee feels different than
it's ever felt.
Like, I've never had an injury, so I don't really know.
But I know he's, OBJ's in that what's called the danger zone, right?
I don't know if people know this.
Like when you get the graph, when you get the ACL repaired, right then it's actually the
strongest is probably ever going to be.
Like it ain't re-tearing.
But then between two and three months out, the studies show that it, that actually dies and
then regenerates itself.
And that's the danger zone.
So he's not like running and cutting and doing.
We don't know what he's going to be like.
So again, there's the you can bet on yourself, come out and work out for people, wait for
somebody who really desperately needs a wide receiver or trust that the Rams know how to use you.
They have the culture that you want.
They can wait and believe they're going to be in the playoffs and you can not be rushed back to
play.
Or maybe you can see what Green Bay is.
The one issue with Green Bay would be, you know, how does your body react to play?
playing in the cold when, you know, you haven't playing the cold a ton and that's a different
level of cold and now you have multiple injuries.
Like, does that become an issue?
But yeah, I mean, like, look, the safe play and the smart play is probably the Rams found a way
to use him to probably the best of his abilities over the last five years, right?
Since it went bad with the Giants.
And with that, that would make me want to resign regardless of the actual number of the
contract.
But again, I'm not a guy who it's all, are you worried about the bottom line?
line because I don't think that will be the most money he could get.
We'll wrap it up with another NFL story here, Doug.
Yesterday we had your buddy and former NFL scouch on Middle Coughon.
You guys discussed that viral video of Dolphins practice where quarterback Tua Tuna Viloa was
throwing a deep ball, in quotations, to Tyreek Hill that was posted on their official
Twitter account.
Tua, who has definitely seen his fair share of criticism over the last two seasons, was getting
heat for, you know, not a great spiral. The throw coming up a bit short, you know, Tyree
Kill having to pull up a bit to make sure that he could catch it. Well, Hill came to his defense,
talking about the video. When asked about it, he said, can y'all chill or nah? We're talking
about practice channeling his inner Alan Iverson. It was definitely a bad look. And this is sort of
what you and Middlecough mentioned, which is you got to have a little bit more awareness on.
the social media channel to know that that's not going to go over well.
But at the same time, I mean, it's not going to really matter.
I mean, in the big picture, it doesn't mean a whole lot.
No, it doesn't.
And this is one of those where whoever was just making the decision with their social team to put that out there, obviously doesn't know football.
Right.
Like that's it.
You would not do that if they knew football.
It's one of those things where it's like someone takes a picture of you and you're like, okay, you know what?
Just don't put that one on social media.
That's just a bad angle.
Can you take that down?
The lighting's not good.
Yeah, can we just take another one?
Like or something?
Yes.
Yes.
Welcome to my life with with 16 year old daughters.

The Hurd Lie News.
You know, the cliche is it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
But in the NFL, oftentimes, how you start determines where and when and how you finish.
I'll explain why one team feels like they're going to have a great start their season.
Next in the Hurd.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.

Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about cracking the
Aides. To be clear, 84 is big
to me not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack
all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second
episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see
that there's a through line. We also have AIDS
on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year
for black people. Really?
Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people
in American history. Listen to

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we
don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough
because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

The Jet Jason Terry will join us next hour.
We'll ask him about the Mavs, their performance last night,
the likelihood of a game seven upset on the road in Phoenix.
That would be tomorrow night, right?
That would be tomorrow night is game seven with Luca leading the way.
We'll get to that next hour.
Plus wait to you at Jimmy Butler.
had to say walking into the locker room last night after the heat were victorious over one of his former teams, the Philadelphia 76ers.
Yesterday was schedule release Thursday in the NFL.
And look, there was a lot of interesting ones.
I mean, Monday night football, which now there's two Monday night games.
So, like, one of the things, and I heard Dan Patrick talking about this, that he didn't
love about the game and I think Nick Wright was on with them with the like look there's a great
moment but not a great game okay I mean look there's 32 teams week one you're not going to have
every great matchup so if it's the second Monday night football game it is you know what do you
have the Thursday night game is Buffalo against the Rams right the bills with a superstar
quarterback coming off basically pitching a perfect game against the chiefs and how you lose that
game or how they force overtime in 13 seconds.
That was just a coaching debacle.
But Buffalo taking on the Rams, great game.
So the way it works in terms of picks are, you know, NBC gets the first pick.
It's got the defending champion playing at home.
Then it's likely Fox because they have the Super Bowl this year.
So who did Fox pick?
Green Bay, Minnesota.
that one that one's tasty and that that one is delicious delicious or the the sunday night game which is
Tampa Dallas that's actually probably the first that might be the first pick I don't know NBC I'm asking incredible games
and for Monday night there's I believe only one Monday night game this year it's Denver
Russell Wilson taking on Seattle used to be Russell Wilson and so like look we could kind of go through
a bunch of reasons why it might not be a good game,
I tend to believe it's very likely to be a really good game, right?
You have in front of the 12th, the 12th man, that's a great crowd,
you would guess Seattle will play way above their level.
Plus, early in the season, it's not like Russell Wilson will have complete connectivity
with an offense with a coach who's never coached a game before in his life.
Like, I just reasonable think that's a close game with incredible intensity.
Incredible.
And to people who are like, well, they don't have a chance.
Go back and look and trace these games of guys going home.
And most times the guys that go home, the other team wins,
even though you're better with that.
It wasn't great with Tom Brady right away.
Wasn't great.
Now, he didn't play New England, but it wasn't great with Tom Brady right away.
But take a look at Seattle's schedule.
And a good portion, and the Broncos have a tendency to have
big games at home early in the season.
It doesn't matter who their quarterback is.
Denver's in kind of that sweet spot in terms of time zone-wise.
They're in that sweet spot in terms of being competitive.
They've had the benefit of some positive,
you know, some potentially good games playing at home
early in the year for years upon years.
But their schedule starts out at Seattle,
talent-wise, quarterback-wise, they should win that game.
against Houston.
Come on.
Now, San Francisco in the third game of the season,
feels like it should be a great game.
San Francisco is well coached.
Look at where San Francisco went to in terms of in the playoffs.
You know, San Francisco looks like they'll still have Debo Samuel.
You'll have Nick Bosa.
I mean, they have George Kittle.
The question with San Francisco is that looks like it'll be the third game of year two
of a quarterback who you're not totally into.
Then you go divisionally.
You take on the Raiders who, new coaching staff.
The Raiders are trying.
I love Devante Adams.
I love, but recapturing the magic of last year.
Then to Indy at home with Matt Ryan,
who's a great dome quarterback, but not so great in the open air.
Chargers, that's a great game.
Then Jets and Jacksonville.
I mean, it does feel like talent-wise.
And usually in the NFL, the talent's very similar, the quarterback pushes you over the top.
It's a mismatch in about four of their first eight games, if not five.
Bronco's going to get off to a good start.
How they finish?
I don't know, but you also don't know who's healthy late in the year.
And oftentimes, how you start in football really determines your finish more than anything else.
All right, coming up next.
Some guys you can talk trash to you, and they will wither.
And then there's Luca.
That's next in the herd.
