This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast.

Now let's get this party started.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Here we go on a Thursday, lively one today.
It's the hurt in L.A.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening.
Thanks for Megan House.
Part of your day one hour from now, as good of 15 minutes as we ever put on this show,
Greg CoSell, if you bet football, you play fantasy football,
or just want to get smarter in football.
Greg CoSell, one hour from right now joins the show.
I'm going to be uplifting, I think, today.
Try to be for J. Mack, who's had a very difficult last 48 hours, very difficult for you.
And I feel bad for my running mate here, but I feel there's some positivity in the air.
I may have bet the Jets money line this morning on the way to work stuck in crummy traffic in L.A.
I was thinking about this deep, man.
Jets might take down the Cowboys.
I'm not, I'm being dead serious.
Is it not fan boy talking?
Don't get me down about the Jets.
There's some positives here.
Well, let's take that baton.
Okay.
So Aaron yesterday went to IG, yesterday of the day before, a very, very heartfelt message on IG.
He's a good talker.
He's a good IGer.
He say, thank you to every person that reached out.
DM texted.
Men a ton.
I'll try to get back to all of you soon.
I'm completely heartbroken, moving through the emotions, deeply touched, humbled for the support
and love.
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
the night is darkest before the dawn,
I shall rise yet again.
I love that.
And he's good at that.
And people should remember, though,
he is 40 in early December,
and rehab is harder for older players.
But his head coach, Robert Sala, himself young,
says, we're thinking about Aaron.
I'd be shocked if this is the way he's going to go out.
But at the same time for him,
he's working through a whole lot of headspace things that he needs to deal with
and that will be the last thing I've talked to him about.
Okay, so here's just a reminder that there are certain ages that we know about.
You have to be a certain age to rent a car.
You've got to be a certain age to be a president.
In sports, there are certain ages.
It's always been like 35, 36 years old for a wide receiver and it's kind of over.
You can't separate 40-year-old quarterbacks.
40 and older, that's the number.
So here are the most career passing yards 40 and older.
So Brady is a Martian.
It makes no sense.
Almost 28,000.
It makes no sense.
His career 40 and older is better than most pro careers.
But after that, Drew Brees, Brett Farr, Warren, Moon, Vinnie, Testa Verdi, all in their own space, great.
All get about 5,000, 55,000 yards.
And those are multiple.
years, 40 and beyond.
And they end up with about 5,700, 5,800 yards.
Breeze, no longer a deep ball.
Last two years in his 40s could not stay healthy.
Warren Moon, wildly athletic, early NFL, Canada College.
Last couple of years, last five years, he wasn't running around.
He was a pocket quarterback only.
Dax 30, just 30.
Dack is now almost strictly a pocket quarterback.
So Aaron was already showing signs of age.
last year in Green Bay.
He played more regular season game, 17,
that he had in any year in his career as the NFL extended his season.
And it was his fewest rushing yards as a starter.
So we talked about this a couple days ago.
Job one for the Jets, get a left tackle.
They got to fix that all line because you're going to get a pocket quarterback in Aaron Rogers.
Achilles surgery is rough.
Four or five, six months, no jogging.
It's tough.
It's crutches for not weeks.
months. It's a brutal surgery for a 24-year-old who doesn't have the bag in a ring.
You wake up every day and ask yourself, is it worth it? Now, you'll still get Aaron's brain,
leadership, and arm. You'll be fine. But you're going to get less Aaron Rogers when he gets back.
That's what you're going to get. Probably not going to give you 17 games. You're not going to
get runaround guy. He's going to drop more throwaways, get rid of it, don't get hit. Absolutely.
Get an accident. For the rest of us, it's different when you're going to.
come back. Tom Brady first year after his big injury, you could see he was frustrated if anybody
got near his knees or below. Jordan Palmer, six years of the NFL, the quarterback coach,
talked about the journey now for Aaron. When you just look at the rehab of this, he's 39, it's one of those
things where you have those milestones, but it's a decision in the beginning. I'm either going to do
this and pursue this with really everything that I have, or I can't do it. You can't 75% an Achilles
injury, especially at 39. And so, I'm not. I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this. I'm not. I'm
I'm fascinated to see not how the rehab go, but that decision that Aaron makes.
And if he decides I'm all in and I'm doing this again, I don't think there's a problem.
Okay, so now let's shift.
I know everybody's freaking out.
And you should, Aaron is Zach's not the same guy.
But an NFL exec talked about the outlook for the jets.
And his quote was, I don't think there's a veteran out there that's much of an upgrade over Zach Wilson.
So let me just throw this at you.
There are teams in the NFL right now today in much worse quarterback situations than the Jets.
The Jets have a great defense, a star receiver, an encouraging run game, and Zach Taylor's young, cheap, athletic, and just spent six months with Aaron.
Zach Wilson, excuse me.
That's not the end of the world.
He can't carry a franchise.
I don't think he's a franchise guy.
can he make some throws to win some games for the rest of this year?
Plus I get Aaron back next season.
That's not the worst situation in the league.
Run game, defense, star receiver.
He's young and athletic.
He can move.
Aaron, six months, picked on that brain.
The tsunami that I'd be scared about as a franchise and you don't see it coming yet.
It's out in the ocean away, right?
Russell Wilson and Denver.
Starting next year in Denver, starting next year,
Russell goes from what he is now to a $35 million cap hit,
a $55 million cap hit, $58 million, $53, and $54 million cap hits.
It hasn't started yet.
And what was the first thing, the first message we got from Sean Peyton?
So Sean Peyton gets the job.
He makes calls.
I talked to him before he took the job.
he was making calls on Russell Wilson and other factors in Denver.
And then the first thing he does when he gets to Denver is look at film of every snap.
He told us that's what he would do if he goes to Denver.
Look at every snap of Russell Wilson.
Figure out what he does well, what he doesn't.
And what did he do?
First day he could, signed a very expensive backup.
Okay, that's the thing.
Russell Wilson is a small, increasingly expensive, soon to be 30,
year old quarterback that needs, needs to run to be effective.
Aaron doesn't.
Aaron doesn't.
Dak, I think, does.
Josh Allen does.
But certain guys, Mahomes runs once or twice a game.
He's fine.
Herbert, fine.
Mobility's an additive.
Aaron doesn't have to be wildly athletic and move around outside the pocket and
downfield to be effective.
Russell Wilson does.
The last three years for Russell Wilson,
wins, completion percentage,
passer rating, and touchdown passes,
all eroded.
And the mega contract hasn't started.
If I own the Broncos,
if I run the Broncos,
if I coached the Broncos,
that's frightening.
I don't think he's washed,
but he's not the same quarterback.
All right, Zach Wilson for 16 games.
He's young, he's cheap, he's athletic, got a lively arm.
Our defense is great.
Nobody's scoring in the 30s on us.
Run game can carry most of it.
Have him drop back 18 times, complete 12, 1 to 2 big throws a game.
Try to stay away from fumbles and picks.
You'll probably get one pick a game.
Jets can win a lot of games 2320.
Denver does not have that run game yet, nor that defense.
they don't have a receiver as good as Garrett Wilson.
That's scary.
And by the way, Zach doesn't cost much.
Aaron reworked his deal this year.
I think the Jets still have some cap space this year.
Next year, pretty punitive.
But you get Aaron back.
Denver's scary.
This substitute teacher, you know, just try to keep the kids under control.
Get to the bell.
Get to the end of class.
That doesn't scare me.
Regular teacher's coming back.
See, J-MAC?
Very positive, very uplifting.
I like it.
I'm assuming you got a great dinner last night or something.
What prompted this excitement?
I did fly up to Portland for about five hours.
Saw my son had dinner.
But I was just thinking that generally in this world we live in
where everything politically, everything in business,
everything in sports is inflamed on social media.
And I'm like, I was just thinking as I was flying back last,
night. I was thinking to myself, great defense, run game. You're not asking him to carry the
franchise. You're asking Russell Wilson do carry a franchise. And next year, that contract, the first thing
Sean Payton did was sign a backup. Remember the day it happened, we were all like, that's a lot for
Jared Stidham. That's a lot for a backup, considering in a year what you're going to pay Russell.
That could be brutal, not saying it's going to be. That would be scary. That would keep me up at
night. Starting Zach Wilson for 16 games is not keeping me up at night. Yeah. I got to be honest,
if you are a Dak Prescott fan, you look at his numbers last year against top 10 defenses. I started
to dig into them, a buddy put me on to this. And it's like, Dak has not performed well against
elite defenses. He's going to carve up the bears and some of the inferior defenses. But, you know,
this is Jets defense. Look what they did to Josh Allen again last week. This is three straight games.
They bottled him up. There's some excitement in Jets. By the way, you got to, you got to,
You hear anybody liking the Jets at 9 and a half?
Anyone?
Well, no, I would take the Jets at 9 and a half.
Ten, the Jets are one of the bets of the weekend.
Nine to nine and a half, I'm not sure if it'll make the Blazing Five.
But the jets are the side at 9 and a half, aren't they?
I think so.
These are arguably the two best defenses outside of San Francisco in the league.
The two best.
Well, you think one's going to run away with it?
Yeah.
I mean, to me, Dax's going to throw 23 times, 25 times.
You think it's going to, you think the conclusions, the results are going to
be great? Because Sauce Gardner takes away C.D. Lamb. We hope. Sauce did not have a great opener.
You know, Diggs had some catches on him. Well, yeah, but nothing. Nothing big. Some 10, 12-yarders.
I thought, I thought sauce had a pretty good night. He was all right. He didn't get. Jordan Whitehead,
but two of those were thrown to him. So, all right. Good stuff day. Greg CoSell. Again,
you bet football. Love football. Just want to learn more about football. Forty-five minutes,
Greg CoSell stops by. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd. Weekdays and noon Easter.

Now for my pick of the week via Draft King Sportsbook, I like the New York Giants minus five and a half at
Arizona.
Arizona lost to a bad team in the commanders.
I don't think it's a great locker room.
I think the rookie head coach is limited.
The Giants got embarrassed by the Cowboys,
so most people will flee the Giants.
Historically, good coaches and capable quarterbacks
who are embarrassed on national TV bounce back.
I'll take the Giants to win minus five and a half.
Football's back in full swing with another week of great games,
and who's got you covered on the action for every single.
one of them. Draft King's Sportsbook, an official sports betting partner of the NFL, new customers

Either way, the podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care which I'm saying.
Yep, that's me.

Do you remember when Diana Ross
double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day
But just so y'all know
I mean at this point
Mark this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line
We also have AIDS on the table right now
So
Thank you finishing that sentence
And yes
I don't think there's a more important year
For black people
Really?
Yeah
For me it's one of the most important years
For black people in American history

So Josh Allen took the heat for his performance against Buffalo,
and I'm not saying, you know, Josh Allen, that was his fumble.
One of the picks was really bad, too, you can argue.
One was a great play.
But I generally find that talented quarterbacks who throw interceptions,
there's a dot, dot, dot, drip, drip, drip, there's a connection to it.
So first of all, Sean McDermott, defensive head coach, that matters.
More on that in a second on Josh.
Allen's four turnover game against the New York Jets excellent defense.
I'm telling him, we've got to be smarter and he knows better and can't do that.
And the coaches are doing the same.
And listen, he's hard on himself.
You guys know him.
He's hard on himself.
He wants to win.
And sometimes that's what at times gets the best of them.
And so just taking what the defense gives you.
And that's a good defense.
Him, him, him.
What about me?
this morning. Ten of the 11 top-rated offensive lines, 10 of 11 and the top six, all offensive
head coaches. Near the bottom, bills, patriots, Seattle, Texans, defensive coaches. I've been on this
for two years. Offensive coaches figure out offensive line play very quickly. Andy Reed and the Chiefs
did it in four months.
Five years for Tomlin, maybe six, five years for McDermott.
With a better run game and more consistent protection,
Josh Allen wouldn't have to run around like Justin Fields,
who also has a defensive head coach,
trying to save the day 15 times a game.
Jordan Love, Tua, Brock Purdy,
Matt Stafford this weekend.
Don't feel like they're running for their live.
four of the five most sack quarterbacks week one defensive head coaches and Josh Allen's DNA
his quarterback DNA to begin with is a little wild and out of control so if you have a hyperactive
12 year old I would recommend you don't buy him a mountain dew big gulp why is our kid acting all
crazy I don't know parent better figure it out yeah why is why is why is
Josh Allen running around throwing picks because he has to save the day because they can't develop a run game six years in.
His style is already a bit wild.
That's how he plays.
I mean, Lamar Jackson's style, his feet, his legs are a big component to it.
That's why they went out and got him tied ends, guaranteed, easier completions early.
Baltimore realized he's a runner.
We're going to slowly develop this past game.
we'll start with tight ends, then we'll go to deeper routes.
Very smart by Baltimore.
Buffalo.
Yeah, our guy is wild and runs around.
Let's have him run around and be wild.
I don't know why I throw so many picks.
Defensive head coach, defensive culture.
I've been on this for a long time.
I saw a story in the athletic this morning.
Does Josh Allen need to help his offensive line a little more?
Flip the telescope.
The O line just a few times in the last six years.
has helped him.
You got to help these guys.
Chicago and Buffalo's offense.
There's talent.
Both quarterbacks feel like they have to make the big plays.
Jordan Love all sorts of help this weekend.
Clever play calling, excellent protection, solid run game.
This is what I saw from Matt Stafford in L.A.
and Brock Purdy with San Francisco.
There's a theme there.
Even Anthony Richardson,
rookie, the raw rookie in Indianapolis.
Played mostly under control.
Had a couple of bad throws.
He's a kid.
Nick Wright from earlier this week on Josh Allen and where his issues are.
Since table left, Josh Allen has played 19 football games.
He has 39 picks and fumbles in those 19 games, more than two a game.
At some point, the results must matter.
And I understand with Josh that at his best, he's the second best quarterback in football.
And at his worst, he can lose you a game to Zach Wilson.
Yeah.
O-line run game.
Pittsburgh and Buffalo, very similar.
Tough physical defensive head coaches.
Get the defense right.
Have talented young quarterbacks.
Maybe a star receiver.
Steelers, bills, last five years.
figure out the O line. Why could Andy Reid do it in one offseason? Why did Sean McVade do it with
the Rams when he arrived in one off season? Jay Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's start with
Cowboys Jets. I don't know if it's like the game of the weekend because it's Zach Wilson,
not Aaron Roger, but it's going to be a good one. Dallas had that 40-0-0 blowout win over the
Giants in week one. And if you remember, that defense was really, really, really.
really nasty. And Daniel Jones stuck around late in the game and took some big hits. Well,
Micah Parsons, who loves to do podcasts and talk, he went out and said he was surprised Daniel
Jones stuck around and they kept him in the game. It's called protecting your guy. You know,
something I thought the Giants should have done. I don't think Joe Jones should have been in that
game in a fourth quarter. That's your franchise quarterback. And he's got out there with the
backup offensive line, still getting sacked and hit. I just didn't understand. Maybe it was a
You know, a proven moment by the Giants.
I have no idea.
A learning lesson.
Who knows?
But I thought Daniel Jones should have got pulled out.
The Bengals did the smart decision by pulling Joe Burrell saying, hey, we're going to submit.
We're going to take our loss.
And we're going to move on the next week and get better.
That's the best thing you can do.
No disagreement here.
Right.
But where are you on, like, Micah Parsons?
A week of a big game against the Jets.
And he's going on podcasts to talk about Daniel Jones and other teams.
His podcast?
It's his podcast.
He's at his house.
He can't go in his house and talk.
He can do whatever he wants.
But where are you on that?
I have no problem with Micah Parsons coming home from a 40-0 win and on an off day spending
45 minutes in front of a camera.
In fact, I have a company.
I may hire him.
I like it.
I don't have a problem with guys doing it.
He's not a guest.
I think all these athletes, if they're good at this stuff, it's a lot of work, you
have to hire people.
But it's like a 45-minute chat up.
I think it's a great way to connect.
with fans. And by the way, we've used his bites the last couple of days. I think he's
excellent. I don't disagree with you. He's probably setting himself up for a post career.
I mean, he's only what? He's a young guy, so he's got a long way to go.
You know some of these coaches. They pull anything they can to motivate players.
You know how long that motivation stuff works for about a series? And then somebody
hit you in the mouth and you've got to play. What are you talking to? Dionne Sanders, all he does
is motivate. That's all he, like he's a motivational speaker slash coach. Yeah, but you know why?
He's got good players. That motivation.
The motivation stuff works if you're Lincoln, Riley, or Nick Saban, or Kirby's smart.
Oh, you mean all great coaches?
You know where it doesn't work as well if Bowling Greens playing Michigan next weekend?
It's not going to work that well.
That motivation thing works with Deion because he got rid of all the bad players and brought in good players.
Okay.
All right.
Next up, this is good news for the Chiefs.
Travis Kelsey returned to practice yesterday after missing week one with that knee and bone bruise.
You know, Kelsey was limited, but he's expected to go.
We're seeing some Chief's money under the market.
here. Chris Jones obviously added with that new contract. Colin, I was just pulling the stats on
Kelsey against the Jags in two meetings last year. Are you ready? In the regular season,
caught six passes for 81 yards under touchdown. Yeah. The playoff game. He was targeted 17 times.
I know. 14 catches, 98 yards, two touchdown. He's really a receiver. I mean, he's the best
receiving tight end ever. Grunk, probably a better blocker. But it's, yeah, I mean, you could see in
week one in the second half when the lions made adjustments and they took away, you know,
their top receiving targets.
Kelsey is their Stefan Diggs, Devonte Adams, probably just a better blocker.
Yeah, I think you and I are both in lockstep here.
Chiefs are the side in Jacksonville?
I think so.
I'll tell you what, speaking of Travis Kelsey, you see who he's flirting with?
Well, listen, I don't know.
I've seen that.
It's funny.
I got, I'm on some.
By the way, do you do any like a WhatsApp text chain?
Do you have WhatsApp at all or no?
Do you think I'm on that?
No, no, it's basically like text messaging, but it's more protected.
So you don't have WhatsApp?
Why would you have to protect your text?
Who are you texting?
Well, you know, some gambling stuff.
Okay.
Let me tell you something.
I am rooting for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey to get married.
To get married?
I don't even want dating.
I want marriage by next Saturday in Vegas.
So like two weeks ago, I saw some obscure, like, Instagram account was saying that,
Keep an eye on Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift.
So I sent it to some friends on WhatsApp, but I didn't post it on social media.
And now I look like this seer who follows all the good, smart places because I saw that this was happening.
My daughter came to me last night.
It was like, Dad, who's Travis Kelsey?
Because she's a huge Taylor Swift fan.
We went to the closet.
I was like, tight end of the Chiefs, why?
She's like, supposedly he's dating Taylor Swift.
I am rooting for that.
He's my 10-year-old.
Well, let me just tell you something.
He's handsome and successful and she is a rock star.
That would be a, that would be a, that's a home run.
That's Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks.
That's 50 years of great production.
Where are you?
Like if Taylor Swift comes back on a concert like you're going, right?
You missed out.
It's not that I missed out.
I chose to stay home and eat skittles and watch television.
I don't feel like I missed out.
It was one of the cooler experience.
And I've done some really cool things in my life.
Yeah.
Like I've ridden an elephant, you know, across the continent.
On a different continent.
Not across the continent.
Across the other side of the world.
But like I've done some really cool things.
The Taylor Swift concert, it was unbelievable, dude.
Like, I'm a huge fan.
Honestly.
So it's Taylor Swift Concert 1, riding an elephant.
Have you written an elephant?
Yes, I have twice.
Isn't it really, really amazing?
I like riding horses more.
Because I like, yeah.
No, danger in the horses.
The elephants are safe.
They're just massive, you know.
It was cool.
Anyway, sorry, I guess we should.
do our third topic.
Okay.
This is the spiciest thing I've seen all morning.
Dion Sanders likes to run his mouth and say a lot of stuff.
All right.
And ahead of this Colorado state matchup, head coach Jay Norvell took a shot at Dion Sanders.
Oh.
And I sat on with the AISP in today, and I don't care if they hear it in Boulder.
I told them I took my hat off and I took my glasses off.
And I said, when I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off.
That's what my mother talked about.
So, you know, they're not going to like us no matter what we say or do.
It doesn't matter.
Isn't this a poking the bear type deal?
A little inflammatory.
Well, I don't like.
Well, I take my glasses off if I talk to people.
Because I have.
Always?
Well, I have blue eyes.
So I get lights hard on me outside.
So in L.A. it's always sunny and bright.
So I take my glasses off to talk to an adult.
Okay.
So you're walking around.
I don't wear hats.
So if I did, I'd keep that off.
You don't wear hats?
Not really.
Look at this head of hair.
You're going to cover it?
Give me a break.
So, first of all, did your mom ever teach you take off your shades when you're talking to people?
No.
Yeah, I've never heard that.
No, not one time.
I take off the hat for the national anthem.
She told me to take the feet off the coffee table a lot.
That's what, yeah.
That was a big one.
So, first of all, I don't know where Norville's coming from with it.
Is this a thing?
Take your hat off and shades?
I've never heard that.
Now, I don't like hat on backwards at the podium for a quarterback on Wednesday.
That's well documented.
But I think if you're wearing a hat.
hat, there's nothing wrong with hats
when worn appropriately. I don't think that's a
big deal. I don't need, if I ran into
my boss and he was wearing a hat,
I wouldn't feel dissed if he kept the hat on.
Now, no, no, no, now.
Now, I do think the glasses, if I
somebody came up to me, it was a serious
question I kept my glasses on, it would
feel like I'm not taking the discussion
seriously. I'm doing a casual
unless it was the kind you could see through.
But I have like dark glasses.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because a lot of, I try to stay incognito
because, you know, very, very
Difficult for me.
So anytime, and again, I'm not hanging out with celebrities or seeing them all the time.
Anytime you see a Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, they've got shades on.
They always do.
What's wrong with wearing shades?
Deon Sanders has shades on.
I think it's a cool look constantly.
Well, I think Dion is cool.
I mean, prime time is a very good nickname.
Did you ever have a nickname?
Heard.
Back in like high school and stuff?
No, in high school, they just called me the man.
But, no, I didn't have any nickname.
Well, you know, I have a pretty good nickname.
What?
What do you mean?
You call it me all the time.
Yeah.
That has a good rig.
By the way, when people of the show come up to me in public, it's always JMA.
Yeah.
Like they feel like we're boys.
Well, that's what television does.
It's a small screen.
Movies a big screen.
So when you go to a movie theater, you look up with a big screen, those people don't feel
approachable.
But you watch TV in your house on a small screen.
so most people think you're more approachable.
I would agree.
I'm approachable.
You are very approachable.
I am.
You just roll up to me.
Now, if the ladies want to roll up, that's another story.
Your wife watches the show, and so do your parents.
She does not watch it.
I don't think she's ever seen one episode.
My wife hasn't.
None, zero, ever.
Really?
Honestly, she thinks I'm an accountant.
She has no idea I do this.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
Greg CoSell.
The third-line news.
Greg CoSell in 30 minutes.
I love Greg Co-Cose.
because Greg works at NFL films.
If you bet football, play fantasy football, or just want to get smarter, he really is, he solves
the riddle.
Like we'll talk some Josh Allen.
He will solve the riddle of stuff.
So I just find it, if you really like football and you want answers to stuff, and this
is, you know, it's Thursday.
You're starting to, you know, all your bets are percolating a little bit here.
I think he's so good on that stuff.
I've literally, now don't listen to me after week one, but he'll drop some dimes and I'll
be like, oh, that makes sense in the line.
So all of it is worth it.
Really good show.
I got a lot going on right now.
Just, you know, it's funny, I flew to Portland right after the show and flew back at almost 11 o'clock last night.
I can't stay awake on planes.
I feel refreshed as a daisy.
I get on a plane, they close that door, oxygen deprivation, boom, out.
Same way.
I can't stay awake on planes.
I'm out.
Well, you know what they told me?
They were like, you know how sometimes a starting pitcher just doesn't have it?
And they got the bullpen warming up in like the second inning?
So that's what the boss is.
They told me to be ready today after your journey on an airplane yesterday.
My bosses do a lot of that.
I think they think I'm just going to fall off this chair one day.
They've always got somebody warming up in the pan.
Well, when you talk about having five coffees a day to stay awake,
you know, I got some takes in the holster.
They are ready to fire.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because.
of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

Big noon kickoff Saturday kicks off on Fox with a good one as Drew Allaire and Nicholas Singleton
made seventh rank Penn State in a showdown against Illinois.
Catch the action beginning Saturday at noon eastern on Fox.
So over at the other place, they had a graphic that showed up about is Jalen Hertz,
Philadelphia Eagle quarterback.
Is his play sustainable the way he runs and takes hits?
So the most rushes ever by a quarterback in their first three season, here are the numbers.
Lamar Jackson hurt last two years.
Cam Newton, hurt throughout his career, age very quickly.
Kyler Murray currently hurt.
Jalen Hertz, cross your fingers.
He ended last year playing but was not nearly 100%.
But here's the thing with Jalen Hertz.
From his infectious leadership to his maturity, to his focus, to his production,
If he retired in five years from this moment, I'd still be completely satisfied with that contract.
Not every worker at every company is in it for the duration.
Companies, I've worked in, when I worked in local TV, I'm sure we use them here at Fox.
When I was in local TV, we used constantly consultants who would come and get paid a lot to
briefly work at a company and make us more efficient.
they got good money.
They were barely in the building.
In Hollywood, you can get a movie credit
for just cleaning up a script.
Makes it a better movie.
Cam and Big Ben aged
quickly.
The opposite of Brady.
It was not elegant at the end.
There were no Super Bowls near the end.
And they were 6-6-255-ish.
Jalen Hertz is 6-1 barely and like 225.
And so when I look at it,
Jalen Hertz last year in his second full year starting,
but his first big breakout season banged up.
And so if you look at Kyler and Lamar Jackson,
who are not Big Ben Cam size,
it's usually about year four when the hits start taking their toll.
Now, Jalen Hertz smartly, remember last off season,
we mentioned this multiple times on the air.
He bolted up. He yoked up. He wanted to get thicker.
Russell Wilson did that last year,
and he lost it.
his speed. So Sean Pate said, yeah, stop the bulking up, lose 15 pounds. So it Jalen can gain weight,
but part of his greatness is running. Same with Kyler, same with Lamar. It's not as much with Mahalms.
He can run, but it's the arm, the angles, his pocket ability. So you just don't see a lot of 77-year-old
stuntman in Hollywood. You know, there's two guys who aged and never really had reduced
physicality. Tom Cruise, Tom Brady. That's it. I saw a story.
this morning from Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning said Jalen Hertz is the model of how you approach
quarterback maturity focus team guy probably not a 401k he's not he's not going to last 50 years
you're not going to open it up at 70 years old it grew tax deferred it's been there the entire time
if you get four more big years from Jalen Hertz comparable to last year I
I'm good with it.
Good teams in the NFL draft a quarterback every other draft anyway.
I mean, how many did Belichick draft when Brady was the best quarterback in the league?
Every other year he drafted a quarterback.
One hit.
One exactly.
Jimmy Garapolo.
And most of you don't love him.
So I don't think it's a sustainable style of play.
This is not, let's be honest.
Belichick, Andy Reid, the exceptions.
Maybe Sean Payton and Denver can last, you know, five or six years.
This is a year-to-year league.
That's where everybody keeps their jobs.
You have stability in the front office, stability in the coaching ranks, the best teams.
Pittsburgh may not win Super Bowls.
They've got stability.
That's why they always land great scouts or executives because people feel like,
hey, I can make mistakes and I'm not going to get run.
So Jalen Hertz, four great years.
Philadelphia has proven as a franchise.
they can pivot to a new quarterback and win Super Bowls.
So, Tua was sensational this week.
Now, this is not a shot at Tua.
Some of it was the defense, which should be a lot better than it was.
He was facing the Chargers.
Nobody gives up more third and longs than the Chargers and Brandon Staley.
But Tua scoffed at those who question his ability to throw the deep ball.
I think when you look at deep shots,
It entails everyone.
For those watching, it's like, you can't just take a drop in the NFL and just decide, hey, because everyone says I can't throw the ball deep.
Let me just chuck this ball deep as far as I can.
Like, it entails everyone on the offensive side to work together to be in symphony and guys to be at the right places at the right time.
Do you think that anyone is still saying you can't throw deep?
I don't care.
I mean, I don't care.
466 is that's what 466 is if I can't throw deep thanks I like toa his arm's good enough
I don't think he throws a great deep ball but he also has the world's fastest football player
tyreek hill and arguably the second or third fastest player in jalen waddle and a brilliant not
just smart a brilliant offensive coach so his arm is good enough Andrew luck people said
his arm Phil Sims his arm it's good enough
interest me this weekend is Miami at New England.
So Brandon Staley is a defensive coach with a Bosa on the edge.
Belichick doesn't have that.
And Tua threw for 466 yards, three TDs and 110 passer rating.
Tua really likes to throw to the middle of the field.
And the chargers often left it wide open.
Here, Tua, it's all yours.
If you go look at the throwing chart for Tua this weekend, you go look at the throwing chart,
and I'm looking at it now, a lot of stuff off to the right, left of center.
Chargers left it wide open.
So what's really interesting to me, 466 110 passer rating, three touchdowns.
If Tua duplicates that effort against New England and Belichick, my bad.
if he throws for 440 yards, 3 to 4 touchdowns, 110 pass rating against Belichick,
who doesn't have a Bosa?
My bad.
But my guess, Belichick is a great defensive coach, will take away the middle of the field
and the easy 12-yard completions, bracket Tyreek Hill often.
And my feeling is, the Chargers once again will have to go,
why can our guy with a bigger defensive payroll stop him at all?
So against Bill Belichick, two is average against Bill Belichick, passer rating 88,
three TDs, two picks per game, 180 yards.
Against the Chargers, he looked like Dan Marino throwing against air.
He threw for almost five football fields on the road against the chargers with a Bosa
on the edge. So I have said this, is that the great, you know, in sports, when you have something
that's great like Mahomes or Belichick or Sabin, you can judge everything off that. Like if, like if Andrew
Luck could go behind a bad O-line and go 11-5, that's a great quarterback. Your guy has to be,
I don't want to hear about O-line. Andrew Luck went 11-5, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5, behind a terrible
line with a coach that got fired. You can't keep. Keep a guy.
making excuses for your quarterbacks because well the receivers we don't have this
terra justin herbert terrible old line first year 31 touchdown passes keep making excuses
so we can do that for coaches too we can keep making excuses but brandon staley's defense
got lit for almost five football fields so if tua throws for four football fields this weekend
110 pass already my bad i'm wrong it's not a staley issue but if you look two is beaten bellichick but he is
been held down by Belichick.
So that's a game Sunday night I'm really interested in.
And I've said this.
If you didn't watch the New England game, it's easy to say, well, they fell behind.
I thought Mack Jones outplayed briefly in the second half, Jalen Hertz.
And I thought New England, of all the teams that lost this weekend, New England may have been
the most promising team that lost.
I thought they looked pretty good.
Old Mr. McEnroe Jones hater over here, J-Mack, I thought they played really
good football. Listen, Philadelphia's got athletes everywhere, jumped on them. Offensive coach
comes in, you know, offensive coach Nick Seriani comes in with an excellent game plan.
The minute that game adjusted, New England looked really good. Maybe an upset. Doubt it,
but keep your eye on New England. I feel about New England the way I feel about the Jets.
9 and 8, 8, 8, 9 in almost every game. Don't know if they have the playmaker at quarterback
to win the games, but I think New England and the Jets are battling to the last week of the
season to figure out who Miami's getting into the playoffs, Buffalo should.
You're rolling your eyes like these are hot takes after one. They're reasonable.
How was it reasonable? You just compare Zach Wilson and Mack Jones. They're both nine and eight.
Well, Max's better. But I'm saying is the personnel for the Jets defensively is better than New
England. They don't have a sauce gardener. They don't have those corners. I don't think they have
any defensive linemen as good as Quinn and Williams.
Judon is off the edge is better than anyone.
He's a smaller edge rusher war down at the end of last season, tends to wear down.
He's their best defensive player.
He's not Quinn and Williams dominant.
No.
He's not Soss Gardner.
So, no, Jets have better defensive personnel.
Belichick would be viewed as the better coach.
And I think Mack Jones is a better quarterback, clearly.
So I think it's a very even match-up.
I'm saying New England was one of the best-looking losses of the weekend.
I think you're overrating it.
I mean, I need to look at, like, success rate and all that stuff.
But when you're down 16-0-0.
You can't run the football.
So it's basically Mac Jones dropping back 54 pass attempts.
And, you know, they had a couple of young receivers who couldn't keep their feet in bounds.
I think it was specifically the kid at Boutte at LSU.
But overall, like, did you think they looked that great?
Or were you just so high on the Eagles that it was like, ooh.
No, I said coming into the season, I thought Philly would pull back win the division with like 10 wins, not 1213.
Their schedule is much tougher.
They're facing better quarterbacks.
And then they all Shane Stuyke.
So I thought Philadelphia, I said all off season.
They're going to pull back.
It's not going to be the same team.
Could win the division.
Not going to be beating teams by, they were leading games at half, you know, 273.
That's like the game's over.
And let's remember, Jets were down 13-3 and they were pretty much dead in the water
until that fluky Josh Allen fumble at his own 20 gave the Jets life.
That's really the game.
It's a big part of it.
