Greg Olson next hour. Mark Sanchez stops by. There's a story out today that you and I both love. So I decided to lead with this story.

It's right in our real house. We both love college sports. well as pro sports. 100% yeah, let the market decide what these guys are going to get. I love this story. Fascinated by it. Fascinating story. It's great to have you in today.

So his name, for many of you, you've not heard his name. In a couple, you will. He'll be the number one college football draft pick. His name is Drake May. He's a young man. He grew up in Carolina. He signed with North Carolina. Here's where it gets really interesting.

There are a lot of rumors in the transfer portal that a couple of SEC schools, you can figure out the big boys down there, are willing to pay him $5 million a year to lure him out of North Carolina. So he's an unbelievable talent, six four and a half, big arm, he's been compared to Aaron Rogers. He's a bigger version of Aaron Rogers. If the draft was held today and he was in the draft, he would be the number one pick right now in his class. And he's not eligible for two more years. There's a lot of Trevor Lawrence here. Trevor Lawrence after his freshman year would have gone number one. This kid would go number one if he was in the draft today. He's that good. And Pat Narduzzi, who coaches Pittsburgh, has an opinion about the Carolina

quarterback and the rumors. I heard two schools, five million. I know the schools. I can't tell you, but I know the school. I think it's only going to get uglier because there are no rules. Not sure why the Pittsburgh coach has a strong opinion about the North Carolina player, but the kid has said, I'm from Carolina, I love Carolina, my intention is to stay here. So if he left, I'd be fine with it. He wants to stay. New rule in college sports. Great gets paid. My entire life, especially in the last 10 years, college football coaches get paid $5, $6, $7 million a year. And about 70% of the time you have to fire them and write a big check so they'll go. go away because they're incompetent. Schools write $20 million

checks because they're not good. And then sometimes they are good and they bolt in the middle of a contract. And a university and boosters are stuck with a bill. So I'm supposed to be upset in 2022 with a legal transfer portal, NIL, that a kid makes $5 million a year potentially. By the way,

he has not taken it. And these are only rumors. But Caleb Williams and Drake May are the two best quarterbacks in college football, according to all my sources in the NFL. If they were both available for this draft, Bryce Young at Alabama would go three. These kids, Drake May and Caleb Williams and potentially Bryce Young, I've got my questions about his size, are going to change franchises. They're going to make owners billions of dollars.

Hell, the Phoenix Sun sold for $4 billion yesterday. You get the right quarterback like Patrick Mahomes. He'll take the chiefs from $4.5 billion to $6.9 billion. And I'm upset because a college quarterback's going to get some money. Great college athletes, college football players, are the last young people to get paid. If you're a young musical prodigy, 12 years old, you can get paid. If you're a young entrepreneur at 15, 16 years old, you can get paid. If you're a young child actor at eight or nine years old, you can get paid millions.

Even in sports, a kid can go from high school into pro baseball. It's legal. 18 years old, Bryce Harper, right into the minors. A college basketball player has to spend one year in college, but if he doesn't want to go to college, he can go to Europe, Australia, the G League, and make hundreds of thousands of of dollars, maybe millions if Nike or Adidas or new balance or somebody gives them a shoe deal. But a college football player is the last guy that doesn't get paid. And it's kind of sad because it's the most violent sport with the most career-ending injuries

between 18 and 22 years old. And it is the only sport that consistently makes any money in college athletics. So the college football player pays all the bills and gets done. none of the rewards. And I'm supposed to be upset because Derek May, who will take a billionaire in the NFL, who's worth 12 billion, his franchises were seven, he takes it to 10 because he can throw a football at a level than like 11 people on the planet can. And I'm upset with it.

Good for Derek May. Drake May, excuse me. Good for Drake May. Good for Caleb Williams. The last young people in America. that aren't getting paid until a year ago are college football players. The ones that get hurt more that are asked to carry more. Anybody, tennis player at Stanford, I'm going to go pro.

Golfer, University of Houston, I want to go pro. High school baseball player. I want to go pro. Basketball player. I don't even want college. You have to go to college in football for three years minimum. Most go for. where you're told the coach and the system are more important.

I would say this to Pat Narduzzi and all the coaches in college football that are uncomfortable with this. Amazon is here. You don't have to go to a mall. It's 2022. It's not up for the rest of the world for wait to you. We're not going to wait for you to get it. We're not going to wait for you to understand the world. But college football players forever have been putting their body at risk.

Everybody else gets paid. The prodigy, the entrepreneur, the tennis player. Yeah, find me all the tennis programs that are rolling in lettuce at college. They're all paid for by the football team. Good for Mr. May, Mr. Williams at USC, and for Bryce Young at Alabama. And, oh, by the way, Drake May is already in school, crushing it, won his division. USC's Coliseum was empty a year ago. They were a four-win team.

Notre Dame sells out. Why? Caleb Williams. Pay them. It's time. All right. Here's another one. Speaking of getting paid and quarterbacks.

Russell Wilson getting paid a lot. And that contract really doesn't ramp up, I think, until next year. So Mark Slareth at this network host a very popular radio show in Denver. And he said this week, and it made some news, that Brett Rippin, the quarterback for Denver, the backup actually runs the offense much better than Russell Wilson. He said there's no question about it. Mark's got three Super Bowl rings in the NFL for over a decade. He's like, Brett Rippin's the better quarterback for this system.

So there's a lot of questions about what, in God's name, are we supposed to do with Russell Wilson and Denver? Here's the problem. It has to work. There is no getting out of it. Number one, you gave up so much draft capital, two first, two seconds and a fifth, that you have one more year of no good picks. Number two, Denver doesn't even start paying for this thing, I believe, until next year.

And the earliest you could wiggle out of it with the least amount of repercussions or punitive damage would be three years from this year, next year at this time. The first three years of this deal starting next year, I believe it's next year. are just ugly. You could never get out of it. You could wiggle out of it about four years from this minute and it would still be ugly but not as punitive. So the best case scenario for Denver, there's three things you can do. Number one, cross your fingers, hire a veteran coach, somebody who's done it before. Because even with Stafford to L.A. and Brady to Tampa, brilliant offensive coaches, McVeanarians, stumbled initiative.

with Matt and Tom. Tom was seven and five, needed a buy to get it right, and thank God the Falcons came to town a couple of times, right? They faced Atlanta down the stretch, I believe it was Detroit. Tom got momentum. They needed a buy week to get it right. Then they were off and rolling. Stafford had a couple of ugly, ugly games.

Remember, early on in the first month and a half to two months, you know, McVeigh was like, he's a wizard. I'm going to give him the offense, and he started throwing pick sixes, and they had to give him a run game and support and defense. and, you know, other things, ancillary things to help Matt Stafford. He needed help. And that's with McVeigh, and that's with Bruce Ariens. So you're talking about Nathaniel Hackett?

I should have figured out it was going to be bumpier. But if I was Denver, I would look at the Tennessee Titans as a roadmap. Because as much as I luck, Ryssel Wilson, I look around at Burrow and Herbert and Allen and Mahalms and Lamar. He's not that. Something happened. He's not that. Distracted, put on weight. won't listen to coaching.

Russell's not that. So what do you do? You become the Tennessee Titans. You hire a really smart coach. You have an excellent defense and you bolster your O-line and your run game. Remember last year with Mahomes, with Josh Allen, with Herbert, with Burrow, it was the Titans that were the number one seat in the AFC, the better conference. So there is a way.

You got to get the coach right and you got to hire somebody with experience. Number two, sell off some of your defensive pieces. Get the offensive line right and draft another running back and cross your fingers and go look at the Tennessee Titans. You probably won't win a Super Bowl, but you can be viable, sell out your stadium, get on TV, be interesting, make the playoffs, and give your fans hope. Mark Slareth, I think he's right. J. Mack and I don't understand it.

Perplexing. How do you go from a 106 passer rating for four years on average to awful. I don't get it. But the Titans are the way for Denver to win. Smart coach, defense, run game, lean downhill. All right, welcome back. So it's pretty obvious this year that Trevor Lawrence has arrived. And, you know, there's a lot of conjecture and questions is Zach Wilson, the guy. is Daniel Jones the guy. I would argue New York doesn't have their quarterback. But, you know, I've been told from time to time, I'm a little judgmental.

I get it. I can be. So I tend to look for numbers or data or proof that backs my strong opinions. I did it with Tebow. I did it with Baker. I was right on both. But I'm wrong too. So is Daniel Jones the guy?

Is Zach Wilson the guy? Here's proof. So let's talk about, let's not go back. 30 years, 20 years, 10 years. Football is changing. The rules are changing. The last four or five, six years, I think you have a good picture of what the league is now, generationally, what you get from high school and college is quarterback. So let's go 10 quarterbacks. The last 10 quarterbacks to enter this league and be viewed as star quarterbacks. So let's start with number 10 would be Dak Prescott. Or no, excuse me. That would be Trevor Lawrence. My bet. He, he,

He was the most recent to come in. He's the most recent to come in. So Trevor Lawrence, since week nine, this is year two. Since week nine, he's the best quarterback in the league. Completion percentage. Touchdowns, he's got 14, one pick, pass a rating, one 11, last seven weeks. So we're Thanksgiving year two, he's a star. He's popped.

By the way, still rebuilding franchise. Not a great O line. Not a great receiving court. All right, let's go to the next one. Joe Burrow. Second year, Super Bowl, with a bad O line. Doesn't take much to figure out. He's really, really good.

Who is the last star? The next star, Herbert. With the second worst offensive line in the league, first player in league history, 30 touchdown passes each of his first two seasons, and Keenan Allen and Mike Williams' star receivers rarely played together. due to injuries. You saw it his first game as a pro. First game, Mahomes. We all went, whoa, out of Oregon. Who was the next? Jalen hurts. He didn't pop until year two. But if you go back

to November of his second year, November of his second year, you look at the numbers, mid-November, 18 touchdowns in 10 games. That was last year his second year. So he was as obvious as Trevor, Burrow, or Herbert. But he was a second round pick. He came into the league, and by year two, he carried the Eagles into the playoffs. How about the next one? Kyler Murray. Okay, let's go look at Kyler Murray.

First player in league history with 45 touchdown passes and 15 rushing touchdowns in his first two seasons, rookie of the year, and a pro bowler, a pro bowler by 2020. Didn't take long, did it? So we're five for five. Jalen Hertz, it took Thanksgiving of his second year. Let's keep going. The next is Lamar Jackson, or excuse me, Josh Allen, led the Bill's second year to the playoffs. He led the league with five game winning touchdown drives.

He led all quarterbacks with 1,200 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns in his first two seasons. So middle of year two, like Jalen Hertz, it took middle of year two, but he was jumping. jumping over people, leading the NFL in game-winning drives. All right. Next. The next star, we knew by his second year, Lamar Jackson at 21, was the youngest quarterback to start a playoff game. Remember that in league history. And he was an MVP, first full year of starting. Okay.

Let's go to the next one. Maybe you've heard of him, Patrick Mahomes. Year two, dominant. year two, we had replaced Aaron Rogers with the most talented quarterback. Pretty good. Let's go to the next one. Now we're going back a few years. Deshawn Watson.

Well, Colin, Deshawn Watson wasn't all that. And he wasn't? Led the Texans to his division title in his second year, 14 and 8 with 45 touchdown passes, 17 picks and 103 passer rating his first two years. He was a star, his first two years. And finally, we got to go way back for the last 10 quarterbacks, Dak Prescott, who had the highest completion percentage and highest passer rating at the time by any rookie quarterback in the league's history.

10 for 10, 8 of 10, immediate stars. 10 of 10 stars by Thanksgiving second year. Hertz and Josh Allen took a little longer. Brian Dable had to get Josh Allen's wildness and efficiency better, and Jalen Hertz, frankly, as a second round pick, just needed somebody to believe it him. 10 for 10. If you're arguing, going into year three,

you don't have your guy. The last 10 star quarterbacks to enter the league, 10 for 10, you knew Thanksgiving second year. Some of them didn't have good old lines. Some of them didn't have good owners. Some of them didn't have weapons. Burrow had a terrible O-line. Herbert had a terrible O-line.

Mahomes initially, they had to rebuild the defense. He had to win shootouts every week. Deshawn Watson had bad ownership. Jalen Hertz, nobody would support him. Took him until you get really until Nick Seriani to say, I'm going to put my arms around you. This year finally. So, and the one you could push back on a. a little as Jalen Hertz, but remember, he pulled that franchise, which was last year we've deemed

dysfunctional. He pulled them into the playoffs. Jalen Hertz pulled that team into the playoffs last year. So all I'm saying is you can argue with me, you can scream at me, you can yell at me. Nick Wright and I don't agree on a lot, but we agreed on this yesterday about drafting a quarterback high. People believe that missing on a top five quarterback, missing on a top five pick, set your franchise back years and years and years. No, it does not. Missing on a top five quarterback and not admitting you missed is what set your franchise back. What kills you is when you draft Mitch Trubisky, when you draft Blake Bortles, when you draft a guy Sam Darnold, that you know 18 starts in. He's cooked. He's not the guy and you deny it. And you won't

admit it. Nick and I agree on that. Ten for ten. Thanksgiving second year. Those guys, some had bad ownership, terrible offensive lines, no weapons, tough divisions, no defense, had to win shootout, 10 for 10. Trevor Lawrence is just the latest. He's on his second coach. First one was dysfunctional. Just lost his left tackle. Has to win mostly shootouts. There you go. J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news.

This is the herd line news. It's weird. I didn't see Daniel Jones on that list. I was surprised. It caught me off guard. The Giants quarterback. It's been four years. Giant fans are relentless on this.

It's like, guys... Let's give him one more chance. You know, it took Eli Manning a while. No, here's what happens. Well, he doesn't have blank. They went and got him Kenny Goliday. Well, how's that turned out? None of these guys, Mahomes had the best situation where he got stable ownership, really sharp GM,

Brett Veach, and a legendary coach and some weapons. But remember early they had to rebuild the defense because the only way he could win early in his career was 3428. It was shootouts where he had to come back from these deficits. So even Mahomes had to play from behind a lot. Even with Mahomes, who has the best case scenario, they've had to rebuild in the last four years. His receiving core, his O-line, and his defense. And that's the best case scenario. The great ones are overcomers. And I'll say this about DAC, because I think Dak is arguably the least talented of the 10. Dack has overcome a lot of the Dallas nonsense. Why? Because he has

been so mature. Is there any quarterback in the league better than Dak Prescott? He is the best quote in the league. He's the Derek Jeter, Eli Manning. If there's a nonsense going on in the background with Jerry Jones, DAC always comes up, says the right thing, he's the cooler in Vegas at the table. Like he always brings the heat down on any potential controversy, and he's a good player. But I would say, of all those, he's the B-plus guy. But when I push back his rookie year and told people to settle down, Cowboy fans were insistent he was really good. It is really good. He's just not great. But he's a franchise quarterback. Yeah, let's start with a guy from that list, Colin Jalen Hertz, dealing with that shoulder injury and the availability for this weekend's matchup with

the Cowboys still don't know. It's in question. Now, backup quarterback Gardner Minchew is expected to start, and coach Nick Siriani says the Eagles are still leaving the door open for Hertz to play on Saturday. He's out of sprained shoulder, and I do not put it past Jalen Hertz. I don't put anything past Jalen Hertz as far as his mental and physical toughness. So there's a chance he could play this week. And so he is one of the toughest guys I know.

And he heals fast. You know, I don't, I will not rule him out. I will not put a timetable on him. And we'll see. Isn't it interesting how he supports his quarterback? Heels fast. I like that. Belichick says publicly, yeah, Mac Jones can't throw Hail Mary.

A defensive coach. The offensive coach is like, this kid's amazing. I wouldn't put it past him. You're dealing with young adults. They need support. Those words matter. If I'm going to rip Baker-Mayfield for being bad at the podium, then I'm going to rip Bill Belichick for being equally bad at the podium.

You do not say, my quarterback can't throw a Hail Mary. You do not do that with a young quarterback. You have to be overly optimistic, feel like a PR person, but I'm banging on quarterbacks all the time. When they go to the podium, hat on backwards, and say something in a inflame a situation, what message is Belichick sending to free agent-wide receivers when he says, yeah, my quarterback can't throw a Hail Mary?

Why, in God's name, If I can go play with Stafford, Aaron Rogers, or a quarterback that can't throw a Hail Mary, why would I go to Mac Jones? Good question. That's a great press conference by Nick. He's gotten way better at the press conference part. Isn't just the guy you hammered after his first press conference? You know what?

But that's how you do it. He's grown up. If you see on the screen there, the line has gone down to four and a half. I know. Remember this one up to six. I loved it at five and a half six. I do want to point out, obviously, four and a half at Fox Bed here. There are other books that are already down to four.

So there is a sign that this could be going down more. Now, I don't know if somebody knows something about the Jalen Hertz injury. Is there a chance Jailen Hurts plays on Saturday? Or the wise guys. They believe in Gardner Minchu. By the way, Minshu missed practice Tuesday. He was at Mike Leach's memorial service. He gave a eulogy involved in F-Bond.

It's pretty good. You should go look it up online. Gardner Minshu, there's a big week for it. Listen, his coach from college just passed away. Is he going to be fired up and going to this game? Inspired by Mike Leach. I like the Eagles. I took the six.

I never forget the Buster Douglas fight. Remember his mom had passed away. That's a good poll by you. What is that? 30 years ago. Yeah, and Buster Douglas said, my training changed. I fought for my mom. That fight happened, like, was it 88, whatever year it was? It was a long time ago.

But there was no internet at the time to look it up. Oh, yeah. I don't even know if we had cable TV at the time. I remember waking up and seeing the newspaper the next day, and I was like, Mike Tyson lost? I don't have time on the show today to tell the story. I was sitting with a friend of mine. I'll tell it briefly.

Aaron Gordon at the Mirage, California Pizza Kitchen. I was broke. Aaron didn't have any money. We didn't have any money. Come on. CPK is a nice spot. It's 42 to 1, Buster Douglas. And Aaron Gordon said, let's go bet on Buster Douglas.

And I said, I want to barbecue chicken pizza. Oh, goodness. I said, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. So I get in my car, and I turn on an FM rock station in Los Angeles. Vegas. 92.3 KOMP, I think, was a station. And they're doing updates or something on it. They're like, Tyson's in big trouble third round. I call Aaron. I'm like, oh my God. And at this time, I was dead broke. We were going to bet $100 at 42 to 1. I would have been the mayor of Las Vegas the next morning. So there is no crazy bet. You have to, my moral to the

story is long shots win, go back and watch. Miracle about our hockey team. I mean, Shamanad once beat Ralph Sampson, the number one basketball team in the country. Look up Shamanad. There's no crazy bets. Underdogs win. Yeah. Next up, this is interesting, Colin. The Athletic had a story this week about how Aaron Rogers intricate hand signals and how the Packers are expected to learn them on the fly.

And it's very difficult. And he quizzes them every week. It's a really detailed article. Several current and former players. were named and quoted. I read the story. Randall Cobb's quoted, Sammy Watkins, a lot of guys. That didn't stop Aaron Rogers

from going on the Pat McAfee show yesterday and say, I strongly disagree with the story. He said, by far the dumbest nothing burger article. It's not like there's that many signals. It's not hard at all. The fact that this is made to a story, it's the most ridiculous nothing story. I've read the entire year,

and that's saying a lot. By the way, what do they say when the attorneys have the, facts, they pound the facts. When they don't, they pound the table. Me thinks Aaron was a little too outraged by the story. Multiple players were quoted. The current players. Like, guys, on the Rod. Jordan Love is quoted in the story about these signal meetings. When you don't have facts, you pound the table as an attorney. The facts are quoted from players. Yeah. So be loud, be caustic, rip the media. It's easy out. Whenever I see anybody, we had a president who did this. When you get

Finally, Daniel Jones is on the verge of his first postseason appearance. He is also having one of the strongest seasons with highest completion percentage, fewest picks of his career. Here is what Daniel Jones said when asked about his improvement this year. I think I've gotten a better idea of what wins in the NFL. A lot of times it's not what you think. I think it has a lot to do with taking care of the

ball. Shocker. And staying in good situations for the offense executing on critical downs and scoring in the red zone. I think I've improved a lot since my rookie year. Yeah. Well, you better. Daniel Jones, given some props to his coach, his new coach, Brian Dable, who's basically saying, don't turn the ball over, we'll be okay. These are obvious things. You can't be telling me in year four. I just figured I got some clarity. You can't turn the ball over.

Sounds like a guy lobbying for one more chance. Sure does, isn't it? And he's desperate. He knows Jimmy G. Derek Carr, could be a couple other quarterbacks out there. Dable's going to have his pick. Otherwise, be honest. Daniel Jones, if he doesn't stay in New York, he's a career backup the rest of the way, right?

Ask yourself this. Are they a top 10 team in the league? No. Yet their coach, people are lobbying in the media for Brian Daibel to be coach of the year. Why? The 13th best team in the league? Because of what he's doing with this quarterback. There's a reason Brian Daibol would probably be my first or second choice for coach of the year.

There's a reason he'll finish first or second. If he had Patrick Mahomes, he wouldn't be in the running. He's in the running because it's Barkley, Brian Daibol, Fibodeau on the D line, and cross your fingers. What do they say he's making chicken salad out of? Yes, exactly. I think you guys have heard that. I'm not going to say it because I don't want to get in trouble. Yeah, that's what the kids use.

I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah.

You know, we were talking about this as we prepared for the show today. You know, great can become embarrassing very quickly. Bobby Knight went from national titles, you know, the late 80s at Indiana to just winning games at Texas Tech to embarrassing. And he was considered sort of the godfather, the motion offense.

In high school, I ran a Bobby Knight offense. And, you know, if you get arrogant or buy into your system, you know, Greg Popovich in San Antonio, Let Kauai walk, let this guy walk. Now they're tanking, but they have been irrelevant for four to five years, like bad and unwatchable. And I think sometimes it's buying into your own juice, your own soup, your own, you know, your own culture. Well, Belichick was the smartest coach ever, but the Matt Patricia moved to offensive coordinator, just struck of cultural arrogance, tone deaf in 2022 football. Ben Volan's been covering the Patriots for a long, long time covering the NFL since the early 2000.

there are tipping points with fan bases and media. And listen, it's in Belichick we trust for 20 years. And then he got Mack Jones to the playoffs. And people look at Josh Allen and think, well, we're getting there. Was the Raiders lost a bit of a tipping point where even Belichick defenders said, you're in that city, said, we don't know what we're doing. We're a little over our skis now. What do you take on that?

Your take? Yeah, I would say Sunday's loss to the Raiders was just the nail in the coffin, that there is no way that anyone here in New England is accepting of Matt Patricia as the offensive coordinator. There's a groundswell, I think, still a minority, but I think people are ready to slowly, starting to move on from Bill Belichick. Yeah, this is what it's going to be. It's time to start over. Now, I don't know, I don't think Robert Kraft is there yet.

But, you know, this wasn't the first time either that people looked at the coach. coaching staff and said, what are they doing? I go back to right after the buy week, they're coming off the buy. They're playing the lowly jets with Zach Wilson, and they won on a walk-off punt return, but they scored three points all game. And that's when you knew coming off a buy that this team was really in trouble and that this offense was not going to be able to figure it out. And then they've had just some really bad performances against the bills. You know, they beat the Cardinals the other night, but that was because Kyler Murray tore his ACL. And then this loss against the Raiders. Obviously, the final play, just one of the dumbest plays you'll ever see in football,

but the whole loss was dysfunctional. They couldn't score a touchdown on the goal line. They're burning two timeouts down there. Mack Jones is once again, you know, yelling at his teammates and brushing off his coaches. And it's just a mess right now. And so there's just, this was the final nail in the coffin as far as there's no way. I don't think that Belichick can just bring everything back next year, run it back, try it, you know, year 200 under Matt Patricia. I think that they've totally lost the players in the locker room. I think they're wondering who the heck are these coaches? This guy's never coached offense before.

Why am I listening to him? And it's just kind of all falling apart right now for the Patriots. We've never saw this in the first 20 years with Belichick, with Tom Brady. Even the Cam Newton year wasn't as dysfunctional as this is right now. And clearly there's a disconnect between the players and the coaches. So if you go to Mack Jones' rookie year, the numbers aren't good. They're kind of remarkable considering he had no number one or two receiver.

Ten wins, 68% completion percentage, 3,800 yards. Those are, by the way, pretty close to Matt Ryan's career number average with Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez to throw to. So obviously he's regressed badly, and the only thing that's changed is coaching moves. So I saw Trent Brown liked an Instagram post, which talked about it, Trade, Garapolo, Brady, all this stuff. My takeaway is Bill still has pull. Is he done with Mack Jones or is he done with his coach? Because Bill has always moved off players, but yet he has his own kids on the staff.

Like he can be really painfully loyal to coaches, but he's never loyal to players, right? But Candler Jones was still great. What do you make of Mac and Bill? Would he trade him and move off him if the Raiders called and said, we'll take Mac Jones? You have Derek Carr. I think there's a small, very minute possibility that they could end up trading Mac Jones. It's not for a Derek Carr.

It would have to be either for Brady, which I don't see happening, or maybe Jimmy Garoppolo. Belichick has always loved Garapolo. But, you know, he's got an injury history you've got to consider. And I think you're right. In most cases, Belichick is loyal to his coaches, and he just gets rid of a player a year too soon instead of a year too late. But I would say in this case, it's a lot easier to just move on from the coach. And I don't think he's going to fire Matt, Patricia.

That's his man. That's his guy, his right-hand man, his best buddy. I think he would find a soft landing spot for him, a way to reassign him within the organization without embarrassing him too much. So I think that has to be the move they make. And look, Mac Jones, I'm number one in his camp in the camp thinking that he has not played well and deserves a lot of the blame this year. It's very easy to scapegoat the coaching staff. But Mac Jones, you even saw it in the game against the Raiders the other day. He was hurrying his throws, missing some wide open receivers.

That's not on the coaching. That's on Mac Jones. But he's only in year two of his rookie contract. He's got two more very cheap years left. So I think it's worth bringing him back and seeing if you can find a different mix to make it work next year. just because you know you've already invested a first round pick in him you're not going to start all over with another first round pick and you're not going to i can't imagine you're going to move on to like jimmy garoplo given his injury history and how much more expensive he would be so i think with mac his contract is probably going to save him it's worth because of how cheap he is bringing him back for another year i think there's going to be a lot of retooling on that roster you're going to see coaches come and go you're going to see new receivers new players but i do think they give mac one more chance but he has not played well and he deserves a lot of the finally you've always been very connected and you've seen around corners on tom brady a lot of different rumors out there my takeaway is since the divorce he's got no loyalty to tampa i mean he's had to do more

lifting that's not the way you want it to work at the end of your career you want to be able to pull the mercedes into the garage you don't want to have to like hitchhike to work the offensive lines beat up the coach is a defensive guy left which in him aryan's upstairs i think he wants a softer landing with more parts in San Francisco. There are rumors New England. Do you buy any of these Brady New England rumors at all? I don't. I don't.

I don't think he wants anything to do with New England. He said so many times since he's left, how much he hates the cold weather. He's got nothing left to prove here. He's on good terms again with Belichick and with Kraft and everything. No, I don't see the Brady to New England rumors having any truth to them. Okay. Ben Volan covered the NFL since two. 2007. All right. Thanks a lot, Colin. Yeah, I don't see it as possible, mostly because I do think as all of us age, you want more help. You don't want less. I think there's a certain energy as an athlete or a salesperson in your 20s, your 30s. You start to get mid-40s as a pro athlete. It's unprecedented. There's too many things for him to solve in Tampa. there was his first year all he had to solve was the Ariens piece because they drafted Tristan Worf's at right tackle that was the weakness and he brought in Gronk so he only had one thing to solve the Bruce piece and they did during the buy now he's having to solve the running games down the old lines banged up Mike Evans and him are barking Godwin's rarely healthy gronk is gone

A B is gone now a defensive coach you're asking Tom to solve too many issues nobody wants to do that later in their career interesting so uh I wonder if you're trying to tell me something subtly. As you age like a fine wine, you need more help on this show. More hot takes from you. So more McIntyre. So you need more help.

Okay, got it. Yeah. So Tom Brady to Vegas, are you starting to buy it? Are you starting to feel the vibes? No. Let me throw this out there. So Josh McDaniels is like,

I like Derek Carr. But Mack Jones is Derek Carr for free. You call Belichick and say, you want an adult, you don't want to sit and wait and figure out if Matt can play. I'll give you Derek Carr, you give me Mac Jones and a second round pick. You think it's crazy? Well, Matt Jones is on the rookie deal. He has a ton of value.

Well, not if he's not winning. It's not like he stinks now. It's the offensive coordinator. So you move Matt Patricia, kick him somewhere else. I don't know what he can do. Okay, would Josh Allen in division? What if the Jets get Derek Carr? What if you do? Jets get Derek Carr with that defense.

Well, you're now in third. But now Mike White looks so good in three games. I need just some more time. I'm sorry. I need to marinate on Mike Carr. Okay, but right now the division clearly is Buffalo 1, Miami's offense two. I'm not worrying about other people. I'm worried about myself what I can control as, you know, fictitious GM of the New York Jets.
