We've got four or five really good teams in this league. Then it's drawn straws, flipping coins. J. Mack is joining us.

Nick Wright next hour. Time to rejoice. Nice win for Green Bay. Very nice. Aaron is back, baby. Are they back, really? Or the Rams just a total dumpster fire. Mostly that.

Yes. Let's start with that. Who do you beat? Miami Dolphins against non-playoff teams, five-game winning streak. Play play playoff teams. three-game losing streak. And I bring up Miami because Green Bay just beat seven losses in a row, Chicago, and now the rebuilding Rams.

Now they go to Miami. I think Miami's going to beat at home, extra rest. Remember, they played Saturday. Packers played Monday night. Smart offensive coach, lots of weapons. Everybody's bailing on the dolphins. You guys are bums. I'm going to take Miami to end the playoff hopes and the season essentially

for Green Bay on Christmas. Even if they win that game, it's Minnesota and Detroit at home. Those are good teams now. Those are playoff teams. Detroit feels like a playoff team. Green Bay season's over. Beating the Bears, beating the Rams doesn't mean squat. In this league, it's who do you beat?

Cincinnati's beating real teams. That's why we think highly of Cincinnati. Kansas City, Buffalo's beaten real teams. San Francisco. So two days extra prep, Miami's going to beat Green Bay. The question now is, let's look ahead for the Packers. Let's be grown-ups here. Take off the cheese hat for 15 minutes.

What's next for the Packers? Here's the good news. Aaron Rogers seemed totally engaged last night. Totally into it. They've got two ascending, promising young star receivers. Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs, like them both. The head coach is capable. I don't think he's elite, but he's capable.

It's not a mess. And it's a stable organization. Now, I won't even call it bad news. Let's just talk truth. They're up against the cap. The defense will be the fourth most expensive in the league. Aaron Rogers is super expensive. The defense is underachieving.

Free agents don't choose Green Bay. So if they had space, they'll have very little. OBJ said no thanks, chose L.A. over Green Bay, despite Aaron Rogers, J.J. Watt from Wisconsin admitted after choosing Arizona, lifestyle matters. Increasingly in big, flashy cities like Los Angeles are very attractive to great players. J.J. Watt admits this. Lifestyle as entertainment and sports converge, having no owner, being in small Green Bay, is not an asset. It is a liability going forward. Aaron, by the way, more reality. This is not bad news. It's reality.

is no longer the most talented quarterback in the league, which he was for about 8 to 10 years. Mahomes, Josh Allen, Herbert, athletically just better, Burrow is just better. The division is much tougher. Again, the defense is incredibly average and wildly expensive. So what does Green Bay do? My solution is one that's going to make Green Bay very uncomfortable. I know Aaron keeps talking about retirement, but he looks engaged. to me, and with two ascending stars at wide receiver, the Packers need to go 100% all in on

Aaron. First pick, 15th, 16th, 17 in the first round, go get a wide receiver, Jordan Addison, USC. To go along with Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs. Second pick, go get a tight end. There's about four great ones in college. Utah's got one. Kincaid. Go get him.

Third pick, more offensive line. Or another receiver. Trade some of the defensive parts. go more into offense. I'm not sure how easy it would be to trade Jaya or Alexander. You gave him an extension. He could be a difficult guy, dead cap money, blah, blah, blah. You got to go all in.

The league is pivoted. Aaron appears to be engaged. He's going to talk about retirement. But the Packers have tried so hard, have been exhaustingly focused on stability and the future. They're now trapped in the future. the present. You can't fire Matt Lafleur and he's not elite. You're trapped with him. Aaron's contract feels like you're kind of trapped with him. Jaya Alexander, your best defensive player, very expensive, kind of trap with him, not having a great year, still a very good player.

A lot of trapped, your defense, you have no cap space. You're kind of trapped. You know, so all of a sudden you start looking. Your whole thing was, we don't want to be loose, we want to be solid, we want to want to have stability, but you're kind of trapped with a lot of stuff. So the solution is, get uncomfortable. Give Aaron what he wants for the next two years, because I got news for you. You're not going far to Aaron Rogers to a Trevor Lawrence. Go ask the Bears. Go ask Denver.

Go ask Miami. Doesn't work that way. Andrew Luck worked replacing Peyton Manning for a few years, but because they put nothing around him, he got knocked out of the league. it's going to be a dark winner. You're going to have 10 of them. So you got about two years left with Aaron Rogers. You found him two ascending young, very, very promising wide receivers.

Go get him two more. Go give up some defense. Get him more veteran receivers. Just be an offensive franchise. Stop worrying about stability and protecting the future. Screw the future. Win now. Now.

The future doesn't look promising. You're not going to replace Aaron Rogers. You're not going to find another Aaron. A junior college guy goes to Cal falls in the first round, and for 10 years is the most talented guy in the league. It's not going to work that way. It's over. You got to go all in on Aaron Rogers.

They're still alive. I think they'll lose it in Miami or Minnesota, Detroit beat him at home. But it's time to stop worrying about the future. Take the dockers off. Buy some leather pants. Be a little risky. Be uncomfortable. Go to a nightclub.

All in on Aaron. because he's still really good. He's going to play for two more years, and he won't want to leave if you get him another Christian Watson. Those guys are good. They're fun. Offensive line's fine. Aaron Jones is good.

Make Aaron happy. Here he is after. Before the Bears Week, we knew we had to buy afterwards, and those of us who sometimes peek ahead knew that we had to win five and then have a lot of things go our way. So we won two and just about everything we've needed to happen has gone our way. Just about, right? So things are looking up.

Bears Rams, nonetheless, just tilt the field now to make Aaron happy. I know. He may just retire on you. Either way, you're in big trouble. If he retires now, he retires in two years. Because if Jordan Love could play, he'd be gone. He can't. At least he can't play to that level.

All right, let me shift to this. Oh, boy, Jets talk. Some blame shifting going on in New York. Now, as you know, I had real reservations about hiring an unproven defensive coach and then giving him a quarterback second pick, small, little cowboy in him I wasn't in love with. So far, I'm right on the quarterback. Could be wrong eventually, but right on the quarterback. Sala, I'm not sure, but he's falling into this trap of shifting blame, being hyperbolic,

pretending it didn't happen. So here is Sala now defending Zach Wilson. The frustrating thing is that, you know, this kid's going to be a good quarterback. The NFL and this new instant coffee world that we're in just does not want to give people time. And so we look at him and he is just nitpicked with the, and just with a fine-tooth comb, everything that he does. Not really. He's completing 50% of his throws.

That's not nitpicking. Coach, you benched him. Coach, his teammates wore shirts supporting his backup. Find me the comps in the NFL for awful the first two years and amazing in year three. And do not give me Josh Allen. Josh Allen in year two at 6-6-250 was leaping over players and had six games of 100 passer rating or more. With a bad O line. Bad O line.

And Stefan Diggs wasn't in town that first year. I don't think he was in town his second year. But you saw greatness. Zach Wilson's had one game passerating over 100, struggling to complete 52% of his throws. His teammates are wearing Mike White shirt. supporting Mike White. You benched him. This is called blame shifting.

Here's the other thing. Thanksgiving year two. The world's changed. I hope defensive coaches get this. But there was a time. And you know, have you ever gone back and watched like a 1950 or 60 show? It's really funny.

I grew up with a show called Leave It to Beaver. And when you watch the show, all the parents do is complain about the children. kids always see the world differently than their parents do. Kids today are smarter than ever, kinder than ever, ascending faster than ever, kids are fine. The media is fine. Somebody told you it was fake news.

What's fake is pretending this isn't a mess and Zach Wilson isn't failing. Because we've all seen it now. These kids come into the pros and our standards should be harder. because they have 10,000 snaps by the time they get to their sophomore year. It used to be you give a quarterback three full years. Now it's Thanksgiving year two, and that's the way it should be. Mahomes, we saw it instantly. Lamar, we saw it instantly.

Herbert, we saw it first game. Josh Allen, middle year two. Not even middle year two, beginning of year two. Wow, he's jumping over. He's jumping over people. Kyler, third game. Cam Newton, I was never a fan of. first game, you saw wow.

We're past Thanksgiving year too. I see, uh, not wow. So this is a lot of blame shifting. The really smart coaches in this league, Jared Goff got to a Super Bowl. McVeigh moved off him. Garopolo got to a Super Bowl. They drafted a quarterback.

The smart offensive coaches are not sitting around waiting for three years for you to show us glimpses of excellence. I hope Zach Wilson makes it. it or not, I'd love to be wrong. It's fun to have a New York team that's relevant. They never are for the last decade. I would love to see them relevant. And I never root against kids. He's got a good arm. A little bit too much Johnny Mansell cowboy for me, but got a good arm. But the idea that we are just an instant coffee, society, no or not, the cultures change. Quarterbacks are better sooner. Good God, Lamar's first year of starting. You want MVP.

Mahomes, first year of starting. He's bringing home a way. awards, Super Bowls. So that's not an instant coffee society. That is how football has changed. I'm concerned that a defensive coach doesn't get it. Like that's the new rule. Thanksgiving year two, you got a 25, 20 starts in. You got to show me something. And so far, I see a guy that's highly dependent on the spectacular and can't hit layups. All right, a lot of stuff. Jalen Hertz is hurt. I still, believe it or not, like the Philadelphia Eagles to go on the road and beat the Cowboys. I do. I think it's a really complete football team. I think they're going to be fine. I think it's a really good game. But the line went crazy yesterday. It's like, slow down.

Philadelphia is more. And the backup, by the way, fairly capable backup who started a lot of games, Gardner Menshoe. This is a great defense, great O line, great D-line, a lot of momentum, playmakers, both sides of the ball. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

By the way, one of my favorite bets of the weekend is Philadelphia with Gardner Minshue getting six points. It's now down to five and a half. Gardner Minshu has the same exact stats collegially and professionally as Baker Mayfield. the difference is one did a lot of commercials, the other you don't know about played at Washington State. Gardner Minch who doesn't have the arm of Baker, but he's a better mover. Gardner Minchew's a very capable quarterback.

He is absolutely, you put him and Baker on a field. Look at their numbers. Look at their coaching in college. Look at who they've been surrounded by. Gardner's done more with less. Gardner absolutely, I think, can go beat DAC and beat the Cowboys. And that's not a knock on Dallas. It is a recommendation that watch the line play for Philadelphia over the corner.

course of three and a half hours, it is spectacular. So the Eagles are really built to go on the road with a capable backup and win this football game. I think Philadelphia still can. Not saying they will, but the point in Philadelphia is the play here. So the Jalen Hertz thing is disturbing. There were a lot of rumors. For the record, I'm never really a big guy into being first. I try not to be, I'm sure I've made this mistake more than once in my life. I want to get it right. So there's a lot of rumors about Jalen Hertz is out for the year. He's all this and that. Can we just wait and get the that's like big news. He's an MVP candidate.

Now, what I'm about to say could be a coincidence. It could be a coincidence. I doubt it is, but it could be. Jalen Hertz, Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson. All hyper-mobile are all hurt. Jalen Hertz this weekend, three touchdowns. Running, none passing, hurt running. Marcus Marioota, very mobile, hurt.

Russell Wilson decided, I want to run now. hurt. Now, Matt Stafford's also hurt, but that is age and elbow. Josh Allen is very mobile, way too much, and he is not being protected by his defensive head coach or his O line. I have said numerous times, I think Josh Allen runs into trouble way too much. But because he's 666260, like Cam Newton or Ben, he's going to get away with it. But Cam aged overnight. Ben aged very quickly. Josh Allen's going to get to 32 and look 39. Josh Allen is unbelievable.

But if he was four inches shorter and 28 pounds lighter, he'd probably be hurt too. He just got like Ben, like Cam, the genetic gods granted him this unbelievable ability and size. I don't like how much Josh Allen runs. I think he's going to age very quickly. So it has been a concern of mine from day one. But is it a coincidence that hyper-athletic quarterbacks are all getting hurt? I don't know. It could be a coincidence.

And I still would pay Lamar Jackson. Although I will be honest, the Kyler-Murie contract this morning, between his attitude and the injuries, I'm not sure I would. Lamar, I would. I like his attitude, work ethic. He is dynamic. But we are getting to a point where I think it's a fair question to ask to a college quarterback prospect or a quarterback I may give an extension to. By the way, Zach Wilson, I set it out of college.

He runs too much, too much cowboy, too much Mansell. Jason McIntyre would tell you he's been hurt. Justin Fields really like him. He gets hurt a lot. Defensive players are getting bigger, faster, and stronger. and we're putting great athletes. I mean, Josh Allen could literally play defensive end or tight end that looks like in this league. I mean, so guys are getting more athletic.

We're giving them the football, but it is, the Jalen Hertz thing is concerning. Now, now, again, he has gotten so good so quickly. If his contract was up today, I'd still pay him. But I do think it opens up a reasonable question. Is mobility a huge part of your success? This is why I keep banging on the Bills. Could you finally build an offensive line four years in? Could you finally have a consistent run game?

Bill's Mafia is always upset with me because I love Josh and not the rest of it. Where are the trophies? Where are the AFC championships? Why don't you have them? Because your own line is shaky and you're absolutely utterly reliant, reliant on Josh Allen. I'm telling you, man, it's going to age fast. I watch Big Ben fast.

fast. So, you know, it's, I just, I look around at Jalen Hertz and I'm like, man, there's, there's guys getting got, the collisions are worse than they've ever been. You know, I remember and you know how sometimes your memory, you think your childhood was tougher than it was or greater than it was. They do studies on that all the time. But I remember when guys used to collide all the time and get hit in the helmet and they just get up and go play. Like, you see these bang, bang connections now, these bang, bang hits, even at the college level, and guys get knocked out. Guys get hurt a lot. So I think the question is a viable one. Now, I think Baltimore wrestles with this a little bit with Lamar Jackson. Now, I would pay him because he wins too

much. Seventy-five percent winners, there's not many of those in the history of the league. I just pay it. But it is concerning going forward. Baker Mayfield, by the way, thought he was a better athlete than he was. What happened to Baker Mayfield? Do you remember he threw an interception, squared up a safety, ripped his shoulder. He's never been the same. Baker's never been the same. Is, you know, Zach Wilson, my big concern is he thinks he's a great athlete. I remember Johnny Mansell came in this league.

And Johnny Mansell, very early in his career, and I was never a fan of Manzell. He started rolling left. I think it was against like Washington. It was a preseason game. And the defensive end chased him down. It's like, bra, this ain't the Big 12. Johnny, it's not the Big 12. That defensive end is faster than you.

And Johnny Mansell just could never reconcile that. In his mind, high school and college, he could just run away from guys. Defensive ends are faster than Baker and Johnny Mansell. So, food for thought. Jay Mack with a news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So to go back to your opening segment and dovetail off what you just said about Zach Wilson,

you were mentioning he's in his second year. you know, we haven't seen much. There aren't, it is not a rich history of quarterbacks who struggled the first two years. First year and a half, they're awful. And then became something. Okay. Okay. So I got a guy for you. Okay.

I did some research. You got a guy for me. I did my own research. That's the kind of guy I am today. All right. So this guy went to a Pact 10 school at the time. Okay. Much Ballyhooed quarterback started out 0 and 11 as a rookie.

Nine touchdowns, 18 interceptions. Ooh. Boy, if Twitter and Instagram existed back then, this guy would have been toast. 52% completions. He was 23 years old. The next year, I was going to make a leap. 56% completions, 11 touchdowns, 18 interceptions. So just hearing that, that's a lot of starts. That's 21 games. He was struggling. His name was Troy Aikman. Well, that was 35 years ago. It was sort of a different sport. Kind of sort of, yes. Troy Aikman, he started for two years at UCLA had good numbers.

But Troy Aikman was big, big arm. I mean, when Troy Ackman, he started. Aitman walked in a room, Jimmy Johnson said when he was losing, he knew instantly that's it. And he was losing a lot the first two years. No, but it's a good. 54% completions over the first 21 games. Zach Wilson, and I'm not comparing Zach Wilson to Troy Aikman, just for the hot tank artists out there. I'm not. Jack Wilson is not as big as strapping as Troy Akeman, but are we going to get Zach Wilson a great offensive line like Troy Akeman had?

Are we going to get him a great running back? We might have it in Greece Hall. Are we going to get him with Michael Irvin? All right. We might have it in Garrett Wilson. Hey, I, people are, heads are exploding right now on the internet. But I do appreciate your effort. Yeah.

That's a great effort. Now, back then, 54% completion. 60 back then was good. He surged after that, obviously. He got a lot better. But effort. Let's hear it. J-Mac effort.

Excellent effort. Excellent effort. All right. A for effort. Yes, the peanut gallery here loves it. All right, let's move on to the first story. Dallas Cowboys, they are going to the playoffs. but Dak Prescott struggles.

Man, seven interceptions over the last four games. Mike McCarthy said he doesn't mind his aggressive play. Most importantly, he needs to keep firing. He needs to keep going. So let's make that clear. So we're not slowing down. Go watch the tape. You've got to go deeper than the statistics.

I mean, statistics point directions, you know, highlight things, but sometimes it doesn't tell the whole story. reminds me of a great quote. Statistics are like a bikini. They show you a lot, but they don't show you everything. You like that or no? Well, it's okay. Calvert a little silent.

Well, can we stop? Dak was, I watched the entire game. Dak was not terrible. Now, when rushed, Dak, a BB plus quarterback, like cousins. When rushed and uncomfortable, he makes mistakes. Oh, you know who has a decent pass rush? Eagles. No, that's why I'm saying.

I think they have 55 sacks this year. Yeah, but let's not blame the Jaguar's loss on Dak. I thought Dak was fine. I thought the bigger issue was Trevor Lawrence was exceptional and sometimes great. Listen, Tennessee's a good team. Justin Herbert did Justin Herbert on the final drive. Miami, I think, is a good team. Josh Allen in a blizzard did Josh Allen.

Sometimes great quarterbacks in a sport that has leaned offense just are unstoppable. Hey, by the way, speaking of Unstoppable, the last time Dak met Gardner Minshu? What was it like? December. How was it? Dack had five touchdown passes. Cowboys won 51-26. Okay. Now, I did look up the box score. It was tied late first half, and then Dallas had a bang-bang touchdown. Philadelphia. 17. Philly was not as good last year. Just a quick word on Gardner Minsh. Do you remember the playoff lost where Hertz was struggling against Tampa? Like, he could not read a defense. But that was, that was like his first year.

It was last year. Or last year. Oh, you mean last year? They lost like 30 to nothing. At like half time. I remember that game because like an idiot, I bet the Eagles. I was like we need to pull Jalen Hertz and get Gardner Minchew in there because he can read a defense better. And now Jalen Hertz is the MVP of the league. And it's like the growth we've seen. They're kind of very different quarterbacks because of the running ability. Well, Jalen Hertz is a better quarterback than Gartner Minchew. He has a better running quarterback.

Well, Jalen's pretty good. He adds a dimension that it's tough to prepare for. I think Jalen's a great athlete. I think he moves well. I think his passing's gotten way better. Josh Allen and Jalen Hertz have made historically bizarre. I mean, just crazy. In my life, the two biggest leaps ever in year two to year three are Josh Allen Jalen Hurts.

Yeah, Jalen Hertz has been unbelievable. Unbelievable. So he's a – Did they rush him too much last week? He had 17 carries against the Bears. Colin, I did track this for my podcast. Five games this season where Hertz has had 15 or more carries. Like, what are you doing?

You're going to run him into the ground. Well, listen, we both like Justin Fields. He's spectacular to watch. That dude gets hurt every game. And he is like... Well, he has no offensive line. No. Well, Hertz has an offensive line.

But are they trying too hard to get him the MVP? Why is he carrying the ball against a bear 17 times? He took 13 quarterback hits last week. I know. I know. That's unsustainable. I know. It's bad. He could be the MVP this year and miss half the season next year.

As long as we win the Super Bowl, it won't matter to me. I just try to go out there and compete. I've won an MVP. I want a Super Bowl, and a Super Bowl is a lot better. Yeah, he's he's the best. I mean, come on. Kids got all of it.

No drama, perfect temperament. You don't get any of the nonsense. He's just so good. So you got the vote. Let's say Hertz is shut down for the regular season. Mahomes wins MVP. Yeah, it does matter. You have to play.

If Mahomes and him are close and they're close and Mahomes plays all the games and Jalen misses three, then I'm going to give it to Mahomes. What if Minchew and the Eagles struggle big time without Hertz, a quarterback? Doesn't that mean Hertz means a lot more

of the Eagles? Like if Minchew comes in and they go 15 and 2. Did you watch the Chiefs before Mahomes got there? Did you see them Dominate? Alex Smith? When they went to the playoffs, I do remember that, yeah. The Chiefs get to the AFC championship every year now. I know. Like every year. It's okay to say Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league. By far. But the most

valuable this year. I mean, Jalen Hertz can miss a game and still win it, but if he misses three, then I'm going to have to go Mahomes. Availability is part of it. Of course. I mean, that's why we love Michael Jordan. That's what drives us nuts about the NBA. guys don't play back to back.

You've got to be available to play. But if he misses one game and they're terrible, then comes back and plays fine, that helps Jalen hurts. Missing a game and you're awful, absolutely. There's still the seventh seat in the AFC.

How about if I just say Miami beats Green Bay or I wear a backwards hat for an hour on the show Monday? It's like an hour. Or maybe third. Day after Christmas.

No, I'm not going to mess around. Okay. No, Miami is going to beat Green Bay. everybody's selling their stock on Miami. Miami outplayed Buffalo in a blizzard. Miami looked very good. That game plan was sensational. Josh Allen put on a cape. There's nothing

you can do. This is one issue with the Miami defense. They're terrible. One of the worst in the league at defending two positions. Tight ends and running backs. Do you think the Packers are great at tight end? Mercedes-Louis. I mean, Dawson Lox had a monster game. Singletary out of the backfield. I'm just saying Aaron Jones

loves passes out of the backfield. Tanya and Mercedes-Lewis. Aaron Rogers. You seen Green Bay's run defense? Okay. Give me the pack. I don't know what my side of the bet will be. It will obviously be less than wearing a backward tat. Maybe I'll have to wear a Patriots shirt or something.

Well, he's a busy guy, NBC Sports, a legend in the business. Hall of Fame voters since the 90s. Board of Selectors covered the NFL since the early 80s. Peter King, part of our Monday morning staple of reading things about the league and the sport we love. I want to talk about McVeigh. I did say this last week. I said, as college football expands in a playoff, I can see a world in which ESPN goes to Herb Street and says, We need more of you, and he doesn't love the NFL experience, and McVeigh gets offered a fortune

with Al Michaels. And I can see $20 million as the Rams rebuild. He can't beat Shanahan. So I watch him last night, and I think he's doing a nice job. But do you think Sean McVeigh for the next three years is L.A. Rams coach? Because somebody's going to offer him a fortune to broadcast. Where do you land on that, Peter? I think there's a chance if he gets offered a fortune in broadcasting that he would go.

The problem is, where's the job? In your scenario, I think it's clearly possible if Kirk Herb Street disappears from Amazon Prime. And I can tell you, Amazon Prime likes Kirk Herb Street. They're not looking to throw him out. They're also not looking to add a third person of the booth either at Amazon Prime. No studio job is going to pay Sean McVeigh $18 million a year. So it's only a game gig. The only way I see him getting one of those lucrative game gigs is if somebody buys out the guy they have.

I can't see ESPN in this economy buying out Aikman. NBC Shirley is not going to buy out Collinsworth. Would Fox, you know, be interested in McVeigh if Tom Brady wavers and says, hey, I'm going to probably play a couple more years. Who knows? Yeah. But I think, honestly, Colin, Sean McVeigh's golden opportunities, plural, were last year after the Super Bowl, he didn't take him. He could get a great job in broadcasting right now in a number of places.

He probably just can't get a number one analyst gig at this moment. So, listen, the Patriots were the smartest team in football, but I've seen this before, Peter, and I've seen it in corporate America. When you buy into your own culture and you buy into your own system and you have this arrogance, this institutional arrogance, putting a D.C. at offensive coordinator, publicly criticizing Mack Jones, can't throw a Hail Mary. It feels very tone deaf and out of touch, the 2022 offensive leaning NFL. Forget the play with Chandler Jones, kind of fitting a Patriot caught that.

But boy, the culture feels like it's unraveling a little to me, Peter. Are I overreacting? I don't think so, but I also think, Colin, there's two things you have to keep in mind. The worrisome thing about the Jacoby Myers backward pass for 20-something yards is that Jacobi Myers is one of the most trusted and intelligent people on this team. Either he had a brain freeze or basically didn't know the rules. And either one of those is extremely worrisome. Yeah.

Okay. But I honestly think, Colin, if you look at this, okay, the worst thing about all of it, in my opinion, is making Matt Patricia the offensive coordinator when he's never coached offense. I don't think he's ever coached offense in his life. And that to me was an act of hubris by Bill Belichick. So will Robert Kraft at the end of the season say, I know you have the power to do what you want with your staff, but I want an NFL established offensive coordinator, offensive mind in here tomorrow. And will Kraft say that? I don't know.

But if I were craft, I'd sure be looking into that right now. Listen, you can say what you want, but it used to be we gave quarterbacks three years, then we made a decision. But the world has changed. Seven on seven camps, quarterback camps. It's a different world. By Thanksgiving of year two, you kind of have a gut feeling now. Burrow Early, Kyler Erie, Herbert Early, Mahomes, Lamar Jackson.

year two, we can see special. Daniel Jones, I don't buy. Zach Wilson, I didn't even buy out of college. What is your gut feeling on how Robert Sala handles this? Because that defense is so good, Peter. They appear to have a star running back. They've got nice offensive pieces. They drafted.

There's a lot of stuff. I don't feel like they're a massive rebuild. I think they've hit on some draft picks. What do you think the Jets do at quarterback? I think they go to camp in 2023. with Zach Wilson and Mike White battling it out for the job. And that's the way it should be. I totally agree with Robert Sahl in the instant coffee world. Although I think it's been a long time since anybody has actually had a Sanka. I mean, Colin, I'm 65 years old. I've never had Sanka,

but it was in my parents' closet at home. I just, maybe he means we live in a curry cup. civilization around football. But I think what Sala has to do now, he's got to tread very lightly. Boomer Ossison was great on WFAN this morning when he was talking about how, when I watched this game originally at CBS, I thought it was a, I thought Zach Wilson was a play to C-minus game. And now I watched on the all-22.

I think it was worse. The worst thing about what the NFL does to quarterbacks, Colin, is the NFL eats they're young at this position. That's a problem. It's ridiculous to draft a guy second overall, and by the end of his second year, say, that's it, we give up on him. Unless he robs a bank in the middle of Manhattan,

they can't give up on Zach Wilson. It's silly, but they have to work with him this offseason on the biggest problem he has, and that's accuracy. Only a minute and a half left, just an observation last night. I've never seen Aaron so engaged with his teammates, with his coach. I'm like, that guy's not retiring. He was so into it last night. He was pumping his fist.

And if I was Green Bay executives, I'd be like, you know what? He loves those receivers. He sees what he has now. I came out of that game thinking, Aaron's not going anywhere. He likes these young guys. Your thoughts. Colin, I totally agree with you. and I think there's two things happening right here.

Aaron Rogers is a sporting contrarian. He hears everybody on the outside, oh, Rogers is done. Let Jordan Love play. Who knows if Rogers is coming back. This is absolutely ridiculous, blah, blah, blah. So Aaron Rogers loves that. He goes into a game against the Rams, a must-win game, and treats it like a playoff game.

That's what you saw on Aaron Rogers. Now, let me just say two other things. The receivers he has right now, I can tell you, he thinks that Romeo Dobbs, and I saw it all through training camp or in training camp, he loved Romeo Dobbs and Christian Watson was hurt. Now he's got a connection with him. Colin, he sees that he's going to be talented enough at receiver next year on opening day. And that's why I definitely think he wants to come back and play in 23.
