Jason McIntyre joining me a couple weeks ago. The Cowboys played the Buccaneers. And before the game on Friday, we listed, I think it was Friday, the top 10 players in the game. And I didn't have DAC in it. And everybody was like, whoa.

and I'm like, no, I don't even have DAC 11. That's Tony Pollard. I got DAC at like 12 and 13. My bad, closer to 15. I was sitting jotting down this morning with the Niners. I had him at like 15 because the Niners have so many great players. This is like, for those of us who have been saying for years, the minute he signed that contract, everybody said he deserved it.

You know, you have part ownership in a pro team. Basketball and soccer, yes. You don't pay people because they deserve it. You pay them because they earn it. and DAC was never a $45 million quarterback, and now you're seeing it. And now you're kind of trapped. This is what they are, right?

Woo-wee! It's going to be a good day for us, Colin. This is going to be a monster show. Dak, I think the Buffalo Bills have some big, big questions to be asking. Wow. This off-season. So I guess today is going to be another edition of,

hey, you can't blame Dak for this one, except the Cowboys are. Micah Parsons after the game blamed Dak. The Cowboys own social media account. on Twitter blame Dak. Dak now has the same number of playoffs wins as Brock Purdy. The Rams, the Eagles, and the Niners

with two different quarterbacks have gotten to NFC championships. Dak has a playoff win. I've said it for years. He's Kirk Cousins with a better brand. That's it. It's time to start drafting quarterbacks. When Brady was the goat and winning Super Bowls,

the Patriots drafted 30. three quarterbacks in the third round and Jimmy Garoppolo in the second. Dak doesn't have much of a market. Nobody'd want him for that price tag, but I'd make calls. I'd do the same with Kirk Cousins. They're the same guy. You watch Brock Purdy and Dak. Did you see a big gap? Neither has a special arm. Both are mobile, but not like uniquely mobile. I watched Dak face two rookie quarterbacks in the last three weeks, Sam Howell and Brock Purdy. DAC was the least effective of both, all three. And I couldn't see the gap.

Sam Howell actually looked more talented. He got drafted thinking a higher round than DAC. Brock Purdy didn't, but do you see the gap? You're paying the Ferrari price and in big games, DAC is a civic. All these years, we're waiting for a signature moment. God, we got one in Mahom's second game. You get great signature moments from the

all-timers. Aaron's got them. Far, Brady, Manning, Ben, and you don't have to wait very long to get them. How many years do I have to wait for one great moment? I looked this up this morning. A week ago, Gino Smith, who at one time was viewed as a bust, created 22 first downs against this nine or defense. Dac got 15. Gino Smith was 50% on third downs. Dack was 5 of 15. Gino Smith averaged almost a yard more per completion. Gino Smith was more productive playing with rookies everywhere for Seattle and with a defensive coach. Mike McCarthy's not the issue here.

Yeah, the last play was goofy, but he had a field goal kicker that, you know, was in his head. Tony Pollard not available second half. And he doesn't have a single unit. He's got good players, but not a single great unit. the Cowboys secondary has a star corner, but they need to draft another one. They've got one linebacker I love, and that's about it. I mean, San Francisco is the better team.

But Dak Prescott, folks, we're waiting. I got Patrick Mahomes playing on a leg and winning. I have Joe Burrow with three backup offensive linemen on the road winning. I've got Jalen Hertz playing at about 75, 70, 80 percent. in that ballpark and winning. Dak didn't have Tony Pollard for a half. Not good enough. Another clunker.

And again, we're waiting for these signature moments. How long do we have to wait? Dax's a lot closer to Daniel Jones. I have to break it to you and Kirk Cousins than he is to the better quarterbacks in this league. Did you see a gap? I'll just ask that. Him and Brock Purdy.

Where's the big gap? Neither a great arm, neither wildly mobile. I would argue pretty, his decision-making, pretty good for a rookie. I mean, he's had some near-picks. Dak had two and should have had a pick six. But, you know, Dax's good at the mic. Dax says the right stuff. Dax intangibles are amazing.

And after the loss, you know, he's hard not to like. sucks that as I said I don't get another shot at it for a long time but I know that when I wake up tomorrow it'll be the first thing in my mind and it will as I carried through in my training throughout this off season as we get into the start of next season it's about finding a way to get better mastering everything that we can to make sure that we get over this hump whatever it is and give ourselves a chance at winning at all really love Dak the guy don't even really like his big game performances It's time to make calls. It's time to get on the phone. It's time.

Second, third pick in the draft. Maybe not the first. See what you got out there. But this isn't working. The Rams, the Eagles, the Niners, primary rivals with two different quarterbacks. Flawed rosters have gotten to the NFC championship. Dallas has a playoff win. It's time.

All right. You know, I said last week, I said if the Bengals were healthy against Buffalo, I don't know what day I said this, but I said J-Mack as my witness, I think they would blow out the bills. I was wrong. They weren't healthy, missing three offensive linemen, and still blew out the bills. 27-10 felt like 47-10. It was never close over in the first series. And something I've been on for years, the gap between the defensive head coaches and the offensive head coaches, it's getting wider. Sean McDermott wasn't even playing checkers.

Zach Taylor, the offensive coach, who many people doubted, myself included early, built a precise, quick passing game in the snow, right, to protect his banged up offensive line. To move the sticks, keep Josh off the field. You could tell from the first series, they leaned into what Burrow does. Accuracy, protect the banged-up O line, precision-efficient routes, counter-punching with their run game, which has been better than anybody wants to acknowledge for years. Buffalo in the snow throwing deep balls up the sideline. Difficult low percentage passes. Didn't use Josh Allen's legs.

At all, it seemed to me, in the first half, finally did first series of the second half. But what you saw is what we've complained about all year. Buffalo has no offensive identity. They've just got a really talented quarterback. I've said this about the Chargers and they're defensive coach. They're just calling plays. And think about this. I was texting somebody in the league.

When you play in snow, what you don't want is your receivers having to run deep routes, look up in the snow. Throw them short stuff. They can go eye to eye with a quarter. quarterback. You're playing in a snowstorm. Thank God there was no wind. Stefan Diggs is frustrated. The fans are frustrated. All year long, we said this and Bill's media, Buffalo fans get defensive. Sean McDermott's had six years. The offensive line's still a disaster. Andy Reed offensive coach solved his in one-off season. The Chargers, give them credit, solved theirs in the season.

Six years, Sean McDermott. What's wrong with the offensive line? It's still awful. run game without Josh Allen awful. I mean, I was thinking about this game before it started. I'm thinking, what are you doing a snow game? Oh, huge advantage Buffalo. You can just run the ball with Josh Allen. They didn't in the entire first half. Their first series was three and out. You have a week to prepare and it's three and out? Now, some of this, remember, there were eight coaches left last weekend. One was a defensive coach. And the gap to me is obvious. Sean McDermott didn't adjust. Sean McDermott had no offensive vision.

We know Burrow is terrific. The comp for Tom Brady's right on. The kid sees the field well, crazy, accurate. His situational excellence is, there's not a lot I've ever seen that's as good. By the way, Kansas City privately was rooting for Buffalo to win. They don't want to face Cincinnati. The Chiefs do not want to face Cincinnati.

Josh Allen will make mistakes. He's wildly entertaining and wild. Burl doesn't make any mistakes. And he's really accurate. But to me, the takeaway was it's almost like when you go on a road trip with a bunch of kids, Cincinnati went on a road trip with a bunch of kids. And they pack snacks, iPads, chargers for the five-hour car ride. The bills were like, oh, you kids were going to get hungry.

Nobody brought a charger? Was Buffalo even prepared? Forget a second punch. They had no first punch. Their first series was three and out. With that defensive culture and that defensive staff, all these years, they got defensive players everywhere. Yeah, they draft and develop that side of the ball.

Great. O-line, run game. Brian Daibel, the further he gets away, the more of a mess this team is on the offensive side of the ball, And I don't know if Sean McDermott's the guy. My guess this morning is after that, that was a moment. It means something. You can't brush it off.

That's bad. There were four coaches. You start looking at all these coaches yesterday. Three were offensive. And then there was McDermott. Yeah, the Cowboys lost, but they seemed prepared. They seemed prepared. Buffalo didn't at all and made no adjustments.

Here's Sean after. That's a good football team. We just played and they played better than we did tonight. They coached better than we did tonight. We have to make the adjustments, the proper adjustments we need to make so we can move this organization and continue to move it forward because that's the direction we're heading. Bills had four times the penalties of Road Cincinnati were dominated time of possession. Buffalo only had 63 yards rushing. terrible on third down, almost half the first downs of Joe Burrow.

We know Burroughs great, but that was an absolute coaching mismatch. Anybody that doubt Zach Taylor, that's over. That was a heavyweight and a lightweight coaching. It wasn't close. No adjustments, no game plan, no identity, just Colin plays. bad, bad look for Buffalo. Can't go status quo. You got to do something because that is not getting better.

It feels like this morning, Kansas City, Cincinnati, the gap's getting wider, not closer. All right. And there's so many things. How about Philadelphia? Oh, yeah, yoi. Oh, boy. That was September, October, Philly. They looked good.

They didn't look good. They look great. We'll talk about that coming up. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. People. Really? Yeah. You know, Malcolm Gladwell's written these books, many different books, all equally fascinating to me. I think I've read almost all of them. And sometimes one of his books talked a lot about first instinct, first thing you see, gut instinct is often right. If you're watching your television set over the weekend and you looked at the Niners in the East, and you said, yeah, those look like the two most talented NFC teams. Your eyes are right. Your first instinct is right. Philadelphia and the San Francisco 49ers are loaded. Philadelphia's roster is just unbelievable.

That's what happens when you get the quarterback right in the second round and don't have to pay them. And you have an aggressive GM like Howie Roseman. Size, playmakers, velocity, physicality. I can't blame the New York Giants. They don't have three guys that would start for the Eagles. Sequin Barclay would. After that, maybe Dexter Lawrence, maybe. Philadelphia is absolutely stacked.

Their wide receiving court is elite. Their cornerbacks are the best in football. Their O line is magnificent. Their D line is ferocious. There's just nothing they don't have. And that's what happens when you get your quarterback in the second round. You got that three- and four-year window to make it happen. Then you add in a highly smart, highly aggressive GM, Howie Roseman.

I felt sorry for the Giants. I mean, now I could sit here and bang on Daniel Jones all day. Outside of Sequin Barclay, I would take Philadelphia's roster everywhere. Everywhere. It's not close. When Brian Daibol tried everything and can't fool anybody on anything, it's a pretty good indication. And what I love about Jalen Hertz is he's what makes America great and what makes the NFL great. doubted in college, doubted in the NFL, and he's become a star.

But if you look around, San Francisco, the Bengals and the Eagles aren't paying their quarterbacks big money yet. Three of those four rosters are packed. And by the way, Kansas City did pay their quarterback, so they can't keep a Tyreek Hill. They got to do some bargain shopping. They got to go find Tony from the Giants. They can't keep Ward that corner they gave to the Niners, who's a terrific. player. They can't keep all their guys. So Philadelphia and San Francisco's rosters, top to bottom,

better than Kansas City. I think Cincinnati's arguably is, but you have the Mahalms-Andi Reed factor. But, you know, the classic example of Philadelphia's story is Tennessee Titans are the opposite of Philadelphia. They overpay for an average quarterback, and they can't afford A.J. Brown. And Philadelphia is like, yeah, why don't you come up here and play? Philadelphia is good everywhere. And as much as I like the 49ers, they have met their physical match and Phillies at home. And they've got Jalen Hertz. Brock Purdy has been a very good story. Is he a very good quarterback? Because that's what you got to be to beat Philadelphia. You know, we watched them September and October, and they were

great. And then they went through what everybody else, you know, goes through, maybe earlier or later, then they got banged up, then the turnovers happened, then they had a buy. And my take it was, they're going to beat the Giants, but I don't like the way they went into that buy. Yeah, bye-bye. They're back. That's real. It's loaded. It's fast.

There's velocity everywhere. Corners, receivers, both lines. Jalen Hertz has just become something special and fun to watch and he's not 100%. And I think Niners Eagles, we talked about this. We've been talking about this for four months. The AFC, it feels like. you have greater quarterbacks and more depth. There's two rosters in the NFC that just jump through the television set.

And you saw them both this weekend. And this is exactly what we should have in the NFC championship. Aggressive GMs, overlooked quarterbacks, and completely stacked rosters. Here's Kyle Shanahan on facing Philly next. They've been as good as anyone since the beginning of this year and all the way to right now. And if you looked at the beginning of year, you thought Philly would be the last team right here. And that's the way it's ended up. So we're going to have going down there.

Hopefully we'll have a good week of practice. And looking forward to the challenge. Yeah, that's, uh, that is going to be a challenge. J-Mack with a news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. I felt I actually watched that game, and I thought to myself, and I don't like Daniel Jones,

But I was sitting there, you start thinking, okay, Sequin Barclay would start for the Eagles. Even Dexter Lawrence, as good as he is, the Eagles D-Lines tremendous. It's an all-star team. San Francisco, if you did an NFC Pro Bowl team with just the Eagles and the Niners rosters, it could compete with the rest of the NFC's Pro Bowl team. Take a deep breath for a moment. All right. Are you overreacting to the Eagles dominating a bad, overrated,

worst team this weekend not playing, but they were the worst team coming into this weekend given their season long metrics. Are you overreacting to the Eagles decimating? I'm a human. How do I not react overly emotionally to what I saw?

We talked about it last week. Everybody overreacted to the wild card games. They saw Dallas beat Tampa. They killed Tampa. Jack is back. I told you guys, be careful. We saw the Giants. Beat the Vikings.

I said, Vikings' defense is trash. Eagles are going to murder them. It happened. Let's not a lot of them. overreact to that Eagles win. I know you like the Eagles against the Niners, Colin. We're going to talk about it all week. Okay. You're right. We got a lot of

segments to go. I know. You're right. But that roster's stacked. Oh, no doubt about it. They are very, very good. We should do that later this week. Take the Niners. Top ten guys. Take the Niners, take the just make a Pro Bowl team in the NFC on the Niners, Eagles. Well, I like what you did last week with ranking the top ten players

in a big game. Yeah, you should do both games this weekend. That's obvious. Let's do that tomorrow. We'll do that tomorrow. We're doing segments. We're not even through the first hour. We've got tomorrow segments.

This is going to be a great week. Obviously, I'm excited because I nailed every game this weekend. But nevertheless, let's go to the Jags, Colin. Jags came up a little bit short Saturday. 2720 loss to the Chiefs. Hey, they made it further than everybody expected. They were the worst team in the league last year. Trevor Lawrence said after the game, this is just the beginning in Jacksonville.

We worked so hard to get here and nobody thought we've, we were going to be here and we had our shot and that's what hurts. So we'll be back. I'm confident in that and this is more the beginning than it is the end of something. This year obviously it was huge for this organization, for our city, for just our franchise moving forward and it kind of sets the bar of who we're going to be

and then what we're going to do moving forward. And that's the mindset and we won't settle for less than that. So, you know, we got a taste of it being here, but there's more left, and we all feel that. I think that was the game that looked like we thought it would look like. That we thought Kansas City was better, and that Jacksonville would probably cover late because there are, but I mean, you felt the whole game. It was like little brother to big brother. Could Jacksonville in three years become Kansas City? Maybe sooner than that.

Right. Yeah. But right now, it was like, hey, kid, little brother, we've been here before. We're at home. We have McHombs. We have the playoff experience. But I think I came out of that and I thought Jacksonville did not embarrass themselves. No. They are really, you know, there again, they're a draft away. Yeah, I have some notes here. Offensive line, not great. Not great. They got two key free agents. Evan Ingram, the tight end who was very good this year. He's going to make some money somewhere else. And Arden Key on the defensive line, he's their second best guy after Josh Allen. But they're close.

Colin, the one thing, what's up with Doug Peterson and these slow starts? That's why I told you, Kansas City minus six first half. But like the last, I think their last five home games, they trailed at halftime in like almost all of them. They struggle out of the gate. Now, Peterson's great, adjusting. But what is it about game planning for the jack? Why do they come out slow?

Well, remember Mahomes' first couple of years? He would overcome these huge deficits. That's with Andy Reed. Is it that young talented quarterbacks, they're not as good on the script? What makes Trevor great and what makes Mahomes great is in that first couple of years, they can kind of add lib their weight of points,

but until they become experts, and Mahomes said it was year three, and they can come in and have kind of in their head 15 plays. I'm guessing. I'm just spitfiring here, but spitballing. My takeaway is Mahomes had a little bit of this early. He would fall into these huge deficits come flying back. I don't think, I mean, I look at Doug Peterson,

and I see him as a great play caller, very good adjuster. They're the opposite of the bills, whereas Jacksonville found themselves constantly adjusting all year all the way into the playoffs and a playoff win. They weren't always pretty early. They're still a flawed roster. Buffalo, the roster's fine outside of the interior O line, and it's like they don't adjust to anything. It's like the same story for eight weeks. I'll say, though, Kansas City's defense left a lot to be desired.

Jacksonville, 5.8 yards per play, moved up and down the field, got pretty much whatever they wanted. Guy Christian Kirk drops a touchdown, like a 60-yard pass. I know, I mean, listen, this Kansas City defense is holding them back. And with Mahomes in that high ankle sprain, you're going to have to ask the defense to actually make plays against Burrow. Cincinnati's the right side. I don't like it. Next up. One big question mark, you know, for the Bengals this weekend, would how the offensive line would hold up without three starters?

Remember that was the narrative everybody was pushing? Oh, without three offensive linemen. Colin? Cincinnati rushed for a buck 72. Burrow was sacked once after the win. Burrough said this was as complete a game as the offensive line has had all year. Two incredible stats for you that I heard. Buffalo had three quarterback hits all game. That's it from your defensive head coach.

Three quarterback hits. So if you watch that first drive, Kansas City, not Kansas City, I'm sorry. Joe Burrow goes up and down the field, easy guys, wide open. Jamar Chase, best receiver in the league, maybe wide open touchdown. So what do they do the next possession? Buffalo's like, we got a blitz. Hayden Hurst, wide open in the end zone. 14-0. Your defensive head coach gives up two drives to start the game. They lost first quarter yardage 165 to 8.

I think, listen, I know they're not going to do it. That's a fireable offense to me for McDermott. I thought he was awful in this game. Well, Buffalo is, along with Green Bay, it's a small town. And it's just not who they are to fire McDermott. It's not, they're not of that. A New York, a San Francisco, a Chicago. No, they want to win. They're ruthless. Oh, they would be crushing McDermott for four weeks, and the owner would hear all of it. Buffalo's going to bring all the guys back, and, you know, listen, they can tighten some screws up. But I do feel like today, Kansas City and Cincinnati have widened the gap.

They're situationally superior to Buffalo. Yeah, season low 10 points for the Buffalo offense that was supposed to be incredible. Colin, if you are a Buffalo Bills fan, you've now watched three. tough playoff losses. They gave up a lot of points to Kansas City two years ago. Then last year, Mahomes goes crazy. And then the Bengals just did whatever they wanted in this game. You know, I know, what's the case? If you're the front office, we love McDermott. Great guy. Team went through a lot. We lost Von Miller. They got one of the safeties out for the season. By the way, Tardavius White coming off the injury, he had an awful game, two PI's.

Could I argue, instead of spending more money on Vaughn Miller, you could have sewn up one of your tackle positions. The entire culture here is toughness and defense. It's very Pittsburgh. What can't Pittsburgh figure out? Offensive coordinator, offensive line, consistent run game. The Belichick, these defensive coaches, either they're tone deaf or they're out of their depth on offense, that performance. Forget the game plan. Did they make any adjustments? They're throwing the ball, deep balls up the sideline. That's not a game plan. That's just calling a play.

They couldn't figure out the Mike Hilton blitzing, the cornerback who was coming in with the blitzes off the edge. They couldn't block. They couldn't figure it out. And shout out to Jackson Carmen of the Bengals. First start at left tackle. Unbelievable game. Kid out of Clemson.

Yeah. Listen, Bengals did a hell of a job. And Zach Taylor, got to give the guy some profits. If you look, we kind of look at Philadelphia. and San Francisco as the loaded rosters. But if I gave Cincinnati, now this is saying their old line gets healthy, if I gave Cincinnati one great corner,

well, their top corner went out with an injury. They've been pretty good without them. Yeah, but, so they have some depth. But when I watch Cincinnati, Eli Apple bites on everything, I feel like they really have to address corner. But the pushback from the Bengals, hey, Stefan Diggs had four catches for 35 yards and was yelling at his team on the sideline.

Like, Bengals' secondary showed up. Final story, Colin, Sean Peyton, were reportedly have a second interview with the Broncos this week. He was impressed with the organization. Russell Wilson even reached out

to lobby for Peyton to come into Denver. Peyton is expected to be one of the three finals for the head coaching job. I know I just said it last segment. If I'm the Buffalo Bills. Oh, I agree with you. Sean Peyton and Josh Allen? Who do you think Sean Peyton?

You know him well. Do you can go to coach Josh Allen or Russell Wilson? Ask yourself this. if you ever wonder if you have the right quarterback or the right coach, ask yourself this question. What would our rivals say? If, for instance, today, the Giants signed Daniel Jones to a huge contract, the Eagles and the Cowboy front offices, it'd be Cristol.

Mimosas for breakfast. Ask yourself this. If the bills fired McDermott brought in Sean Payton, what do you think Belichick and Andy Reed and Zach Taylor? that's a, oh boy. That's an upgrade. Oh, boy. But again, it's Buffalo. They won't do it. They're nice people. My wife used to go to Buffalo all the time.

She's like nicest Americans. So they won't do it. But I know you all want to say, we win a bunch of games. Listen, your division's a rack. The Jets don't have the right quarterback. Belichick doesn't know offense. Miami can't keep too healthy. Winning that division can't be the standard.

With Josh Allen, that can't be the standard. That's a guarantee. It wasn't for New England. Winning the division when the Jets, dolphins, and bills were dysfunctionalpherson that wasn't the standard was getting to conference championships annually minimum. And can I remind Bill's fans, Marty Schottenheimer coached a Chargers team to a 14 and 2 record. They lost in the divisional round and they fired him. And they went to the conference championship the next year.

I'm just saying, I know Buffalo is going to be reluctant to pull the trigger. It's not in, it's not who they are. It's not in their DNA. It's fine. But that was embarrassing. It's one thing to come in with no identity. offensively, which we barked about for eight to ten weeks. It's another to make no adjustments. And I don't think we qualify as fire the guy after a bad game. I'm never that guy. I don't like that guy. I don't either. But that was that was there was

nothing about the game plan, the identity, the adjustments. Colin, is this team even built to win in January with no run game? Isn't that funny? I saw somebody said this on the internet. It's a cold weather team that plays finesse football. They should be playing in a dome. They're built. That's a good, yeah. I mean, their offensive line, they can't play bully ball. They would get this team against Philadelphia or the Niners, that offensive line would get, they'd be a crouton and a salad bowl. J. Mack with the news. Well, that's the news.

We had Bengals won, San Francisco, Philly Chiefs. We started selling our bill stuff. later in the year. You were early, clearly, on the Bengals. Remember I scoffed a little bit? I was like, oh, that schedule, I don't know. Pretty good.

Real special. So Patrick Mahomes has high ankle sprains, so he should play, but, you know, high ankle sprains are pretty rough. By the way, watching the media react, you got to get him out of the game. It's an ankle. It's not a concussion. It's not a shoulder. It's an ankle.

And Patrick Malm's going to fight like, man, you don't want to take those cleats off. You take those cleats off. Your day's done. So it was ugly. But it's an important thing. to remember about Mahomes. The best quarterback doesn't win most of these Super Bowls. It's not a video game. Peyton Manning had five MVPs. He won two Super Bowls and one was led by defense. Aaron Rogers and Farr combined for seven MVPs. They won two Super Bowls.

So you look around this league, man, it's not the best quarterback wins. Josh Allen now has to overcome a defensive coach and a defensive culture, which wants to pay linebackers and safeties more than offensive linemen. Good luck. Joe Burrell, third straight year, has to overcome an offensive line that's either inept, under talented, or hurt. Patrick Mahomes a couple years ago, it was a left tackle. His tackles got hurt.

Now he's hurt. And, you know, that's why I said, adding another regular season game in the NFL and another playoff game was greedy. It's hard to stay healthy. The Niners are on a third quarterback. The Bengals are missing three offensive linemen. It's hard to stay healthy. I don't think a 75% Mahomes can beat Joe Burrow in the Bengals and Philly or San Francisco.

If he can, he's better than I think. That's a big ask. He's not healthy. He's limping around in high ankle sprains nag and last a long time. But if anybody can do it, it's Patrick Mahomes. But just look at Mahomes, how gifted he is. And we largely consider Patrick to be. here, and even Burrow and Allen, a notch below.

In his five years as a starter, with Andy Reed, with Brett Veach, a great GM, the Hunt family, stability across the board, five years as a starter. One Super Bowl win, one Super Bowl blowout, two AFC championship losses, and now limping into a rematch with Cincinnati, a team that feels like they kind of have their number in close games. So this is why I never liked adding another regular season game. I don't like adding playoff games. It is so hard. The league's done a great job to make the game safer.

So why add games? Why add a couple of games? San Francisco is now on a third quarterback. So my guess is Mahomes would play with a high ankle sprain, but he won't be 100%. Not close. He'll be 75, 85%. He talked out. after. I didn't want to go get the x-rays or whatever it was. I wanted to just to continue to play.

I told him I would do it at halftime, but coach, I mean, in the best interest of me, just made, he made me go back there and get that x-ray before he put me back in the game. And for a while, I thought I could get and play through it. And then he said, I'm not putting you back in, so you might as well go get the x-ray. And then if it's negative or whatever, I'll put you back in. So I ran back there, got the x-ray, and was able to finish the game. So once again, we saw an athlete yelling and fighting to stay on the field. I know all you doctors on the Internet, especially in the media, you know, you get very precise and very judgmental. Players want to play.

It's hard to get to these games. Mahalms had an ankle sprain. It wasn't a concussion. He's going to fight like mad not to take that cleat off. He's going to yell at his coaches. He's going to fight his cause. injuries have always been nuanced. It's not black and white.

It's not easy. Even the Tuas situation, essentially by not playing him at the end and he wanted to his career, despite what they send NFL reporters, is very much in doubt as a franchise quarterback. So Mahomes is fighting like mad. Andy Reid, I think, did the right thing. But this stuff, it's not just, he's hurt. He should be sitting. Players are, they're different than us.

they want to play hurt they're different than us they're bigger they're stronger they're more competitive and mohomes is exactly why injuries in the NFL are tough he's screaming at coaches let me in i'm fine i'm fine in kansas city uh thank god to have a veteran quarterback behind them that can handle a driver to uh okay so let's talk niners for a second so you know we got four quarterbacks left three are really special. And then there's Brock Purdy, who has to go to Philadelphia.

He is a gamer. He is accurate. I think he makes really smart, quick decisions. That was the knock on him, right? He could be erratic in college. I didn't watch enough of him in college to have a strong opinion. He also has a great offensive head coach, a stacked roster, lots of weapons. Even the backup, Elijah Mitchell is a gamer.

So now comes NFL reality. Now comes a physical equal on the road, a better quarterback. So the difference between beating DAC at home and beating Jalen Hertz in Philadelphia on the road feel like different galaxies to me. He has been so far a great story and has overachieved. But now he has to be a great player. like that's the way San Francisco wins. Brock Purdy has to be a great player. I mean, we went into this weekend against Dallas.

U.I. everybody, in fact, I think J. Max said this, that you had a sense they were going to take Purdy a little out of the game and run the football, make it Christian McCaffrey and make it Debo. You can't do that in Philadelphia. That's not going to work. He's going to have to make four or five great plays because Philadelphia is that stacked. And the best quarterback through this winning streak he has faced is DAC.

That's it. And Dak, let's be honest here. Purdy outplayed him. Sam Howell outplayed him. So there's a difference. The Giants were a great story. They're a mile from a great team. Purdy's a great story.

How far is he from a great quarterback? He's not great, but can he make an occasional great play? Because they're not asking a ton so far. When I watch San Francisco, my takeaway is always. And years and years ago, I was talking to somebody, a coach about this. And he said, listen, you can watch television and you can tell what a team is trying to do and trying to avoid. You can watch who they're blocking. You can watch really smartly, clearly defined focus football teams.

San Francisco's run game, they always find a way to find an extra blocker and an extra body. They are brilliantly coached on the offensive side of the football. But as brilliantly as they are coached, they're going to need Brock Purdy to play. above himself. He was the last guy drafted. Most of these NFL GMs and scouts know what they're doing. There is a reason he was the last guy drafted. Okay,

there's a reason. There wasn't a lot of special on tape. He was accurate. He distributes. He's got some moxies. A little bit of a leader. He's a gamer. I mean, not a big arm. Good enough. Not super mobile. Certainly good enough. But he's got his hands full. The story

to the reality is going to switch. Because there's been a lot of home games. and a lot of average quarterbacks and a lot of average rosters on this winning streak. Here was Kyle on the message he gave Purdy about facing Philly next. You kind of alluded to it earlier, the challenge Philly presents. How about just going on the road for the first playoff game in a rookie quarterback's career? Do you have a message for Purdy? It's like every other game.

You won't be able to hear as well. So don't make it anything more than that. You won't be able to hear as well. So we'll work silent cadence, which he's done well at that. When he has gone on the road, I think he's been on the road for Seattle. It was for Spagas. I can't remember the other ones, but going to get a good team in a tough environment. And sometimes it's fun to go on the road.

I will say this. His quick decision making has been excellent. Now, people say, well, he should have had an interception here and there. He didn't. And Dak always does. So you can tell me what it could have should have, should have made mistakes, should have had a pick. But he doesn't. DAC consistently does.

So there is something there I think is quick decision making is going to be an asset because Philly you can take half a second off. Everything goes faster against that defense. I got to ask, Colin, watching Shanahan against the Dan Quinn defense yesterday looked like a very vanilla offense, nothing exotic, nothing creative. But you said. I have a feeling Shanahan has some stuff dialed up for this week. Because you know the Philly defense, they don't want to give up the big plays.

They go back. They only rush four. They don't want to blitz. That plays right into Shanahan's hands. He's always over the middle. They got the yak guys, the run game. I don't think it's a great matchup for the Eagles defense. I do think everybody saw that Giants game.

Oh, Eagles are going to roll. Eagles Super Bowl. We'll see. I like the Eagles, obviously. He can't not like him. When you watch him, you can't not like him. I like Jalen Hertz. Great guy.
