It's the herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1, one hour from now. Our final herd hierarchy of this football season will have a few through the spring and summer. But our final herd hierarchy plus Nick Wright, one hour from now, J-Mack is joining me.

So the Cowboys, Dack played about as well as I've seen Dack play in a big game. I thought they would bounce back. I didn't think they'd be quite that majestic. But Brady looked old. I think it's a little harsh on Brady. How about us giving out a no-sweat winner to the audience to start the week, Dallas? I mean, that was a blowout city. Tampa, we'll see you in a few years.

So let's start with this. When you love something deeply, like your kids, you lose perspective. You're highly emotional. You can't see the truth. And America loves the NFL. We watch it four to five times more, sometimes six to seven more than any other sport in America, college or pro. We bet it. We watch it.

Many of our kids play it. And if you look at how the, we love the NFL, how we overreacted over the last week. So, Dak and the Cowboys, a stinker against Washington. Everybody sold their cowboy stock. We told you. good quarterbacks and DAC is certainly good off a terrible performance always bounce back. We also told you they would overreact to Brady. So Brady struggled last night.

He was pretty bad. He's washed. It's over. Well, he did win his division and set an NFL record for completions. He's going to have suitors. Daniel Jones beat the awful Vikings. His two best games of the year were arguably against the Vikings' terrible defense. Now he's Joe Montana.

Trust me against Philadelphia on the road. seven and a half, eight point underdog, he's going to face pressure. He's not going to throw for 300 yards. When you love something, you lose perspective, and everybody lost perspective on the Cowboys because of that stinker against Washington. Take a deep breath. Now everybody's freaking out. Dallas to the Super Bowl.

Stop sign. The Niners at home will have almost a two and a half day preparation advantage. Dallas isn't happy with it. Dallas didn't get home and go to bed until two, three in the morning. The Niners game and they'll be at home, they don't have to fly to it, was over Saturday afternoon. Huge edge San Francisco, better roster, better coach, home field advantage, two to two and a half day prep advantage. But let's watch the Cowboys, shall we? It was a nice performance.

Here's the very, very good news for Dallas. Mike McCarthy, this offensive line, has come together post Thanksgiving. They got it going on. Secondly, Dak played about as well as he has played in a big game. Little nervous early, some drops early, but Dak, by and large, played very, very well. But let's have perspective again because we tend to overreact to everything NFL. The Buck's past defense is atrocious. Think about this.

Tampa's past defense was 22nd. in the NFL. So that's bottom quarter, bottom third. And that's in a division with the worst quarterbacks. They faced Marcus Marietta and Desmond Ritter and Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker and James Winston and Andy Dalton and the other 38 quarterbacks, the Saints marched out. Against that quarterback division, Tampa's past events was awful. And now it's Brock Purdy.

He's mobile. He moves. There's weapons. Shanahan's brilliant. But, and I think here's the positive vibes on this. Dallas does have an offensive line that's playing good. Can they give DAC a little bit of time? Can they provide DAC with a run game against the Niners?

Not easy but possible. If they can, Dallas will be in the game. But we overreacted to their loss against Washington, said on this show, good quarterbacks who throw up stinkers almost always bounce back and the cowboys have bounced back off some ugly games all year they did it again yesterday and we also now will take a deep breath and tell you this san francisco matchup almost everything works against dallas nineers game was over saturday afternoon this game wasn't over until late last night dallas had to fly back home players probably get to bed at three today's a waste of a day but mike mccartner's he's got to feel good about that old line and DAC. I mean, as good as I've seen, that's for sure. You know, I think just like anything, he's so consistent in everything he does.

I thought he was, you know, Kellen and, you know, the play calling. We just really stayed true to what we wanted to do in here. And like I said, I thought he played extremely well and, you know, stayed aggressive. And, you know, took the checkdowns. I thought he had great command of the offense and excellent presence in the pocket. Okay. Nice bounce back win. Next weekend is brutal. Virtually everything works against Dallas.

But it was fun. It was nice. Take a deep breath. Celebrate. Pour the champagne. Dak and the O line are at least, I believe, capable to give Mr. Prescott some time. Tony Pollard Zeeke little crevices to run, which Seattle found very difficult.

Okay. So Brady wasn't real good last night. And Brady's not the same quarterback he was five, six years ago. I'll get to that in a second. So when Brady stepped to the microphone after a very, very humbling loss, you know, it kind of did sound like thanks and good night. Here it is. I just want to say thank you guys for everything this year.

I really appreciate all your effort. And I know it's hard for you guys too. It's hard for us players to make it through. And you guys got a tough job. And I appreciate all that you guys do to cover us and everyone who watches isn't a big fan of the sport. We're very grateful for everyone's support. And, you know, hopefully, you know, I love this organization. It's a great place to be. And thank you everybody for welcoming me. All you regulars. And just very grateful for the respect. And I hope I gave the

same thing back to you guys. So thank you very much. Appreciate it. Okay. There's a lot of speculation. Tom could go to Vegas. I think Miami is also interesting. Despite the leaks, they're all in on Tua, I don't know. Tom knows the division. Tom won a lot of games in that division. I don't think Tua matches up with Josh Allen twice a year. Be that as it may, Vegas makes a lot of sense. They have his buddy Josh McDaniels, elite running back, elite tight end, elite slot receiver, elite sideline receiver. They're going to make a run. It seems inevitable. Just say it out loud. AFC West. Mahomes, Herbert, Russell Wilson, Jarrett Stidham. Yeah. they're going to make a move.

They're going to make a move. So I would guess it would be Brady. They may draft a quarterback, but again, Mahomes twice a year, Herbert twice a year, Russell Wilson maybe with an offensive coach twice a year. I don't think you're going with a kid. I think they'll go after Brady. Now, Brady in the last three years is a different quarterback. Remember when he got to Tampa.

Remember the urgency. Get me a right tackle. Get me Leonard Fernette. Get me A.B. Get me Grong. Get me this. me that was to protect Tom. Brady knows now what he is. It's not a coincidence. He went from weapons starved New England to weapons loaded Tampa. Tom needs others to protect him and elevate him.

There was no James White story in Tampa or Julian Edelman story where Tom took Danny Amandola story, solid player and made him a star, right? made him a go-to guy or big individual catches in big games. Those days are over. Brady went to Tampa because they could protect him as he ages and he's old and he doesn't elevate. That's not his game anymore. He needs to be elevated.

He doesn't take average guys or unspectacular guys and elevate them. It's not who he is. That's what the greats in this game do. I mean, Joe Burrow is missing. three offensive linemen and beats the Ravens. Justin Herbert carries a head coach in Brandon Staley, who's going to retain his job, but in two years has created no identity.

Josh Allen carries a bad O line and a serviceable at best run game. That's what the great ones do. Trevor Lawrence, they're still in a rebuild, gets them to the playoffs and gets a playoff win. that's not Tom anymore. So Miami's got a lot of the pieces on offense. The Raiders have a lot of the pieces on offense. Both have star receivers or star tied ends.

Both have capable left tackles, offensive minds, creative. To me, we can say Brady's washed, but it's a classic overreaction. Look at his completions this year. I think it was an NFL record. He won a division. and this was a defensive head coach at the end of the year that felt disjointed, out of touch. They had injuries. I don't think he's going away.

That's just my guess. A couple years ago, when he, quote, retired than unretired, his dad was quoted as saying he doesn't want to retire. And his dad's concern was, I don't know if he ever will. So I think Brady does play again. Wouldn't be shocked if he called it a career, if he got some sort of owner's deal. You know, it's certainly possible. But his global clothing brand is not taking the world by storm. This is what he does. Post-divorce, it's where he gains great happiness. My guess is Miami privately a second time and the Raiders for a first time go after Tom. All right, good stuff.

It's interesting. Not sure how many of you noticed last night, but it was a brilliant game plan and the efficiency for Dallas was remarkable. Three and a half to four hours of football. Only two penalties by Mike McCarthy. team and no turnovers and nine yards a pass and over 50% on third down. A lot of talent on that Tampa defense yet they picked up 26 first downs.

Do you realize that Dallas this year was fourth in scoring in the National Football League? Aaron Rogers and Green Bay were 14th. If you look at the numbers this year between Aaron Rogers who demanded a new coach, although he would deny it, albeit not privately, It's interesting that Mike McCarthy, with all the challenges, the Cowboys are fourth in scoring, Aaron's 14th. They're tied for third offensive touchdowns, Aaron's 14th. Their first are the Cowboys in Red Zone touchdown percentage.

Aaron and his handsome head coach are 24th. Third down percentage. Dallas is fifth. Aaron and Matt Lefleur 17th. But it was all Mike McCarthy, right? And what's most interesting and most compelling about the Mike McCarthy PR, this morning is he didn't have Tyron Smith Hall of Fame first ballot left tackle most of the year. Dalton Schultz missed a couple of games and didn't feel right until Thanksgiving.

Dak missed five starts and he had to rebuild the offensive line and I still contend they don't have a really guaranteed true number two receiver they can count on. Aaron had to overcome young receivers. Yeah, he was doing ayahuasca. How about go to an OTA, champ? All year long, Mike McCarthy had obstacles to overcome. He's got the only owner who hosts a radio show, who puts pressure on him weekly. He didn't have his superstar left tackle.

His tight end wasn't right until Thanksgiving. I still think they need another wide receiver. He had to split carries between Tony Pollard and the aging. Zeke, that's a challenge. And yet they were elite across the board. and Aaron can't beat Jared Goff in Lambo, where he was severely outplayed. Why does this matter? What does it have to do about Aaron?

I don't know besides everything because Aaron rolled his eyes, mocked privately leaked stuff to reporters to let you know McCarthy was an outdated grifter. Just didn't buy him. Remember Jeff Saturday said I was in the huddle. McCarthy would make calls. Aaron would roll his eyes. the NFL in throwaways, clearly a sign that Aaron didn't like the call and would make it personal. And four years post-divorce, the Aaron problems don't go away. He's not as good as a favorite.

He's not as good playing from behind. He's been outplayed by Goff and Garoppolo and an old Tom Brady at Lambo as a favorite. And all Mike McCarthy's done is take hits from the media, myself included, and built a powerhouse offensively. I don't know. You saw the numbers across the board, and I can argue with the Giants this year and the Eagles, the Cowboys faced much better defenses. Minnesota's defense. Aaron Rogers faced Minnesota's defense twice. They're awful. He faced Detroit's defense twice, awful. He faced the Bears defense twice. Awful. The Giants defense, the Washington defense, the Philadelphia defenses were excellent. So Mike McCarthy, six indivision games against

significantly better defenses. They're good at everything. Yards, touchdowns, red zone. Last night, two penalties, no turnovers in a playoff game on the road? I don't know. Maybe it wasn't all the coach's fault. Here's Jerry Jones talking McCarthy after. You think I was sold on him before this outstanding game for the cowboy.

as I've gone up a notch. I just forgot about four or five things. I might was going to talk to him about he could improve on. And I was going to ask him if he might consider improve a no. Listen, McCarthy isn't a top five coach to me, but I don't think Aaron's a top five quarterback anymore. Can't get out dueled by Goff, Garoppolo, an old Brady at Lambo. You can't keep telling me, Mike, was the problem.

Cowboys were as good as you can put. possibly be on the road in a playoff game last night. Almost no penalties. Smart in the red zone. How about that bootleg call for Dak Prescott and fourth down? I felt terrible about the kicker. I felt so bad for that guy. But you can't blame McCarthy for that.

Kickers sometimes get into their head. For the record, when kickers go sideways upstairs and get into their head, that thing can last for weeks. You do not turn it around in five days. As my friend Mike Silver tweeted today, when kickers go south, it's usually not something you can retrieve that composure and that mindset, the positive vibes in six, seven days.

J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. The big breaking news here in the last hour as the Chargers have let go their offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi, after that second half collapse against the Jags over the weekend. Also parting ways with passing game coordinator and QB coach Shane Day.

So it's their fault, JMAG? I don't love this. You don't? I don't love this. Why don't you love it? I mean, Colin, listen, not just because I own a soccer team and I'm in some pretty cool front office discussions. Yeah.

But sometimes you have to be real and truthful and honest. and, you know, remove the ego from, hey, hey, Brandon Staley could turn this around. Do you remember when the Chargers went 14 and 2 with Marty Schottenheimer? Yeah. Lost in the first round. You know what they did? They fired their coach after 14 and 2. What happened the next year?

Brought in Norv Turner. They went to the AFC championship game. Sometimes you've got to make the tough decisions. Listen, we know Peyton a little bit. You know him better than I do. His history says he's a great coach, a great offensive mind. I don't think he's going to call nine pass plays like the Chargers did up 27-7. against the Jags. Do you see last night

Kellan Moore and the Dallas offense? They had that big lead in the second half. What are they doing? Smart runs, safe passes, move the chains, eat the clock. Chargers did nothing like that. Now, it didn't help that they didn't have Mike Williams. A great possession receiver. Whose fault is that? Brandon Staley.

Yeah. No, it's easy to say Mike Williams wouldn't have mattered, but the truth is Mike Williams would have had at least six to seven targets, four to five catches. Those are first downs. They keep the clock going. He absolutely would have mattered. So, yeah, I mean, I don't think this is a solution. I think it's easy to blame coordinators.

But I'll say it again. It's a head coach's responsibility, not the coordinators. It is a head coach's responsibility to create an identity. Brian Daibol did it in about six weeks. Brian Flores, who got fired in Miami, did it in about seven weeks. I thought Mike McDaniel of the Dolphins may have done it in week one. Doug Peterson took him to about Thanksgiving.

Took him to about Thanksgiving, but he created an identity two years. This team does nothing well offensively, and they're not great defensively. Think of how they ended Staley's rookie season. Do you remember that loss to the Raiders in Week 18? Brutal, and it was definitely on the coach. He called the timeout, gave the Raiders the chance

to gain more yards and kick the field goal. You could blame the end of their season the last two years on their head coach. It would. Yes. I think that's... Chargers fans are disappointing. They should be disappointed. And I don't want to hear this. Oh, all the Chargers players love Staley.

Of course they love Staley. What are they going to say? I hate this guy. You know, you can't do clock management. They're not going to bury their coach. Yeah. Anyways, moving on. Again, I think he's a good interviewer.

I think he's smart. I think he's a coordinator. And that's okay. He may be in six years. I said this. When Lane Kiffin first got his head coaching job with the Raiders, he was not ready for it. He was a coordinator.

Now, he's a very good head coach. But he was just too young. McVeigh was ready for, despite his age. He grew up in a football family. Some guys are ready, some guys aren't. Listen, Belichick, first go-around as a coach, he wore everybody out in Cleveland. He did a better version of Bill in New England. So there are things he does as a coordinator that were excellent.

The Rams defense doesn't feel quite as good without him. I wouldn't be shocked at the Rams, if he ever got booted, that McVeigh would bring him back. They really liked him. but I don't feel he has head coaching presence yet. He's young. I don't know. Now, I think the Chargers, they all met yesterday. So I was told this yesterday.

I announced it on the air. I was told, good source, they were all meeting yesterday for hours all day long. And I think what saves Staley is the Spanos family believes nine wins, 10 wins, we're getting better. We're on our way. But I'll go back to this. You can change coordinators. What are they? Two years in, what are they?

talented is not an identity I fell for this with Arizona coming into this season they had improved three straight years Cliff Kingsbury had improved Kyler Murray had improved and I was like hey they're trending upward and they went down pretty catastrophically

hey by the way who gets this job Frank Reich or does he want a head coaching job somewhere? I will text Frank today I love Frank. Could you tell them to go to the Jets they need an O.C? They don't have a quarterback! Don't go to the Houston Texans because they're going to they're going to go

after. No, Frank's really good. Frank's really good. He got hosed in Indy. Jets would love him. Okay, moving on. Giants, Eagles are meeting for the third time this season in the divisional round. Philly easily won the first matchup. Second one was, eh, a lot of backups for the Giants. Eagles didn't want to put anything on tape. And Giants were basically resting their starters. Since the 1970 merger, 24 teams have faced an opponent in the playoffs that they swept in the regular season. They're 15 and 9 in the playoff game. Interesting. Not great. basically comes down to Jalen Hertz's health, right? Also, Lane Johnson.

Well, he was practicing Friday, which is very good news. Lane plays, to me, it sounds ridiculous, a right tackle. If Lane Johnson plays, I think Philadelphia controls the clock and wins the game. I would largely agree with that. Now, the first meeting they had, the Eagles had seven sacks. They won by 26 points, blowout city. The Giants were coming off that Washington by Washington deal or something around there. Yeah.

It was a tough spot for them. Yeah, no, I like the Eagles to win the Giants to cover. That was the first game I looked at, the line, the first one that jumped out to me, is I think it was seven and a half. Seven and a half, yeah. Yeah, I would take the Giants and the points. But I think Philadelphia wins, but I think it's the Giants have, I think they're playing with a lot of confidence. Now, Minnesota's defense is atrocious. Talk to a coach yesterday.

He thinks it's poorly coached. They need to replace people. The acreage that was available after catches was weird. That's not going to be there against Eagles. No, and he's not going to get 28 first downs and 300 passing yards. So Daniel Jones will have a second last to throw. There won't be openings. And he also probably won't control time of possession.

I don't know what it was in the Vikings game, but the Giants had the ball a lot. That won't be the case. What do you make a third straight week on the road for the Giants? Week 18 in Philly. Don't love it. Then they go to Minnesota, back to Philly. Not a big trip down the turnpike. short trip. So I don't love it.

But in the NFL, that's stuff that gamblers talk about, third and four straight roadie. Yeah. And the Eagles coming off the by week, obviously. All right, final story. The Ravens, they're going to resume contract talks with Lamar Jackson after putting them on hold during the regular season. All right. A lot of uncertainty

around Lamar's future with the team, Colin. It's crazy, isn't it? Baltimore still considered to be his top location. According to Fox Bet, Ravens are the favorite to have Lamar for the How about the Jets? Come on. Come on. That's not happening.

How do you know? You think the Jets are going to get Lamar Jackson? By the way. Three first round picks for Lamar Jackson? I wouldn't give three first round picks. What do you think the Ravens are going to ask for? Two firsts. Russell Wilson just fetched a ton of stuff.

That's right. And it bombed. So you can say we're not doing that. But would you give up two first? All the Jets need is a left tackle and an explosive receiver. Two first for Lamar Jackson. Yes. 23 and 24.

Yes. But you've got to then pay Lamar Jackson all the more. money he wants, which is fully guaranteed. Are we as desperate as the Browns? Let me ask you this. Breece Hall, you won't pay him for three years. The left tackle you draft, you won't pay it. Well, you're not drafting a left tackle first round.

Most of your good players outside of Quinn and Williams, you're not paying. Because you had back-to-back great drafts. You're not paying anybody out. I think Quinnin Williams has he signed a big deal yet? He wants money this off-season and he's earned it. Yeah. So they're not paying their receivers. Breece Hall, they're going to get a left tackle.

So they're not going to pay a lot. And they're also, Joe Douglas has back-to-back solid drafts. I mean, he missed on Zach, but who are they paying? Sauce Gardner for the next two years. You're getting him for basically nothing considering he's the best corner in football. So I think Lamar, Jets, I don't know. I look at it and I think the Ravens are going to trade him in the conference? Usually when you got an MVP.

No, I think that's overplayed now. I think the bottom line is if you want something. And here's the other reason I think the Jets is viable. Because the Baltimore culture is so good. Owners great. GM's great, Harbaugh's great. Their culture is so strong that they've been playing like Pac-12 quarterbacks who weren't even great in college

and they go give the Bengals fits. So I think they, and I'm not, if I was Baltimore, I'd sign Lamar. But I'm saying is if they moved off Lamar, that defense, run game, culture is so formidable. I could see them going out and making a move for it. They're a car or a draft or a college kid. and not taking a massive step back. They're in every game they play because of that defense.

The lack of receivers or urgency to get any? If I'm Derek Carr, I don't want to go there. I don't know. I would rather go partner with Brian DeLer. Derek Carr's never had a good defense. I think Lamar's a very talented player, and he fits with a lot of people that don't have a very talented player at quarterback. Yeah. He would make the Jets a playoff team. Absolutely. Instantly the best quarterback in franchise history? No, Joe Namath.

That's not hyperbole. Who? Joe Namath. Come on. His numbers are nothing compared to the Lamar Jackson. Come on. Lamar Jackson has been one of the best quarterback in the league for like three years. Joe Namath?

Stop. Mark Sanchez has more playoff. Oh, it's a different era. Joe Namath was unbelievable. Got won one awesome Super Bowl. Shout out to Joe. I don't even know if my parents were in this country when Joe Namath won the Super Bowl like 19, whatever it was. Joe Namath was good.

I'm old and I'm old and I'm. Lamar Jackson is great. I think Lamar Jackson, I think it works for both. I really do. You think I'm nuts. You're not paying anybody. All right, Joe Douglas. Cowherd convince me.

And thanks for stopping by. You think it's crazy. And on their show, my favorite part of their show is this kind of stuff. But, I mean, Stafford went to the Rams, shocked the world. Tom went to Tampa, shocked the world. What's so, I mean, you look around the league right now. These young general managers are deal makers. Joe Douglas psychologically could have unbelievable guilt because he handed Robert Sala a miss at quarterback.

And he could psychologically feel, I'm going to make this up to my coach. Because I think Joe Douglas really likes Robert Sala. And I think he gave him a miss at quarterback. Does Joe Douglas? I mean, I think about this. There's all sorts of psychology that plays. For years and years, people inside the business have talked about how general managers draft to save their jobs, and they draft it.

It's a lot of psychology. It's why when you draft somebody and they bust, a GM is much less likely to move off his bust. You're better off to fire a GM, bringing a new one. He'll move off the previous GM's busts. But does Joe Douglas, who's really done a great job, feel a little bit of guilt handing Robert Sala, Zach Wilson, and overcompensates by getting Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson with those receivers, Breece Hall, get them a left tackle, that defense.

It's a playoff team. It's a playoff team. So it's interesting. The reason everybody shoots for the moon with going after star quarterbacks is because you don't have a lot of time as a GM and coach in this league. Sala and Douglas, they got to deliver next year card, honestly. Or they're going to be gone. I think we would agree with that.

If I was Robert Sala, I would pound the 10. table for Lamar Jackson. Between Hall, those receivers. Garrett Wilson might be the best receiver Lamar Jackson's ever had. Look at the Baltimore receivers. Sammy Watkins, Johnson. Rasad Bateman, come on. This stuff, there's so much psychology that goes into this in urgency. We also have a world now where these NFL owners are all billionaires. When NFL owners made $350, we're worth $350 million, you didn't want to write a check to get rid of a coach. but if you're worth 2.9 billion, 26 million to write off Salah's contracts are rounding air.

You make that in the day on the market. So the owners now, coaches now are literally getting fired after a year. Coaches are on the hot seat by Thanksgiving of the second year. We've had multiple, so Robert Salah, he's on the clock. Kingsbury signed a massive contract and he's out the next year. There's not a lot of time, and that's probably wrong. You need to let things bake, right? I mean, imagine if you ended football season ended, and you said, you know,

McIntyre was good, but we need an upgrade. We got to get someone else. Hey, how do you know it's not happening right now? Come on. You got to give me more than four months. So, listen, I don't think Sala should be in trouble. They overachieved. You would agree?

Yes, yes, yes. I'm just saying this is the way it all works. All right, we got good stuff. Oh, I've been banging on something for two years, and boy, this morning is it true. And ad nauseum, probably driving you nuts, probably repetitive and boring. But one of the things I like about business and I like about sports is trying to spot things before they happen. So this is a pretty easy one. But the NFL has clearly over the last five years pivoted to offense.

And the organizations that are progressive and smart, you saw this in baseball. The organizations like the Dodgers that pivoted quickly to analytics have flourished. You see this in the NBA. The Warriors quickly pivoted to analytics. They've been rewarded. And the NFL franchises that have now understood that the sport, due to safety measures, regulations and rules, there is a huge advantage hiring an offensive head coach. here are the eight coaches remaining in the NFL.

Seven are offense. One remaining is a defensive coach, Sean McDermott. By the way, he can't get his offensive line right four or five years in. Their running game is to Josh Allen dependent. Josh Allen regressed this year. Even Bill Belichick feels out of touch. The Chargers, two years in. with a defensive coach, have no offensive identity, and are one of the worst teams in the

league in second half scoring. Can you imagine being an owner or a general manager and not figuring this out? It's not difficult. I'm a talk show host and can figure it out. By the way, defensive head coach, Chicago Bears, fourth place. Justin Fields has lost 10 straight. He's running for his life. Jets, defensive coach, fourth place, lost their last six games, couldn't score a touchdown in the last month. Ron Rivera, defensive coach, fourth place. Lovie Smith, defensive coach, fourth place. Seven of eight coaches. In the playoffs are offensive coaches. Houston, Jets, Washington, Chicago. A lot of good players, and I'm not saying the coaches are lost. They're all defensive coaches.

Even Mike Tomlin, who we thought had a great year. He can't figure the offensive line or offensive coordinator out. Pete Carroll had a great year. Does he really believe Gino Smith is the answer? Really? I hope not. So there you go. And I've said this about Buffalo.

They had Brian Dayball a brilliant offensive mind in the building. Day Bowl has left. I am not the only person that noticed. is the offense, Josh Allen, more mistake prone by the week. It's not hard to figure this stuff out if I can figure it out. Now, there are still Dan Quinn, it's a very good coach, Brian Flores and Arizona. I actually think in that instance, to get that organization defensively right, Kyler right, they need a powerful coach and a big presence.

Brian Flores in Arizona, to me, totally works. That team's got to get more physical, more disciplined, and tougher, and somebody's got to put their foot down with Kyler Murray. So I'm not saying all defensive coaches. And if Lamar Jackson or Derek Carr go to the Jets, I think they're a playoff team. They're not all hopeless. They're not clueless. But we've got cultural changes now happening.

Rules and regulations overwhelmingly benefit offense. All right. So I don't know if you saw this yesterday. day. Oh, I guess it's no big deal. Jim Harbaugh is staying at Michigan. Did you see his quote? I love the relationships that I have at Michigan. My heart's at Michigan. Said Harbaugh, I once heard a wise man say, don't try to out-happy, happy. Wonder who that wise man was. For the record, some of you push back on Harbaugh. Well, I mean, he was calling NFL teams.

Yeah, that's what talented people do. They have options and they keep them open. And they should always. Your bosses do. Don't think the AD at Michigan takes calls? The Big Ten Commissioner just left. A coach can't look. Give me a break.

I once had a radio boss that pled with me loyalty. Two days later, his name was Tom, he took a job at WEEI Radio Cross Country. I didn't blame him. Talented people have options. He'll get more offers and they'll be annual. And that's okay. Guess what?

You marry the pretty girl. Guys'll flirt. She's pretty. She got a nice personality. That's the reality. But Michigan deserves credit here. They could have gone small. They could have been offended.

Get over it. The Big Ten Commissioner left. Jim Harbaugh is going to make calls. He's got an agent. He's great. The NFL's leaning offense. He's an offensive coach who got to a Super Bowl with Colin Kaepardick. It's 4419 and 1.

Also, Michigan deserves credit because the Big Ten is about to get really good. Luke Fickle got hired by Wisconsin. They just landed the best quarterback talent they've had in the transfer portal ever. Wisconsin's going to get really good, really quick. Oh, by the way, here comes two of the smartest. offensive coaches in 12 months, Chip Kelly and Lincoln Riley. Oh, by the way, Matt Rule may have bombed in the NFL. It's been a great college coach. He's at Nebraska. Penn State next year, I think, has the best team James Franklin's ever had with a nitty lion's. And Ohio State's, Ohio State,

they're always great. Harbaugh is a one of one. And yes, he's got a very powerful agent. And yes, the agent puts his name out there. Now, I think Michigan, I mean, it's called the big house. They need a big coach, right? They tried Rich Rod. They tried Brady Hoke. They play in the big house. Bo Schembeckler, big. Jim Harbaugh, big. It's a big brand. It's a big stadium. It's a big name. It's got a big law school, a big medical center. Harbaugh is capable of fitting in, not being overwhelmed and working. But when I see this all the time, oh, I mean, he, you know, and making calls, let me ask you this. Wouldn't you rather if you're a U.S. USC fan. Nobody was calling on Clay Helton. Every couple of years, somebody's going to call Lincoln Riley

and offer him a job. And after three or four years, Lincoln may throw his name out there. You don't want your coach getting up for NFL jobs? Sorry, that's the price of doing business. Nick Saban got poached at LSU. Like, right, Pete Carroll was at USC. He got poached. They also dominated college football for about four to six years when Pete was there. So I think the Big Ten's only getting better. Harbaugh is great for college football. I think Michigan is better than 90% of NFL jobs. The only jobs better than Michigan football to me are the five or six jobs in the NFL

with a star quarterback. Kansas City, a Buffalo, you know, Jacksonville now with a star quarterback. That's about it. Cincinnati, those are great jobs. a great quarterback in the NFL. But, I mean, look at this team next year. He brings back J.J. McCarthy, his star running back. They play the Buckeyes at home.

Don't try to get happier than happy, Jim Harbaugh quoted. He said, a wise man once said that. Who that wise man is. Good for college football, good for Harbaugh. And also, his dad lives next to him. So he's got the grandkids. You're not going to beat that. You're not going to get that in the NFL.

They're not going to, you don't have time to do that. So these, the two. The 10 best jobs in the NFL, five are in the NFL, but another five are in college. In Michigan is one of those jobs. I've said this before. I think, like, what job would I want in college football? George is great because Athens is great. I couldn't convince my wife to a large degree to live in a lot of small southern towns.

She'd live in Athens or Ann Arbor or Austin, Texas, or Los Angeles. You know, Madison, Wisconsin's a great city. This is one of the standard jobs. This is one of the top 10 football jobs in America when you get it rolling and Harbaal's got it rolling. So there you go. So Coward, I thought that that was Confucius who said the quote about Wiseman. That was you. And I'm not going to take credit for it.

It doesn't seem fairly obvious. You're like a philosopher or a fool philosopher. One of those two. I get them confused sometimes. I like that better. That's what I am. A fool. That's what I am.
