will be joining us live on this very radio TV program. Jason McIntyre stopping by alongside as always. So we talked about it. It broke the last hour of our show Friday. And, you know, there's been this talk. There's not a huge market for Kyrie Irving, but apparently it was a fairly dynamic market. He's a little kooky.

He's a little different, but there was a market. And the Mavs, Mark Cuban, Shark Tank, aggressive businessman went for it. Desperate teams doing desperate things. That's Mark Cuban for you right there. Good luck, Mavs. Let's talk about that. So Kyrie Irving, the Nets owner, did not want him to go to the

Lakers reportedly. So when the story broke Friday, there's a lot of discussion. There won't be any market for Kyrie Irving. And yet we find out the sons took a look, the Clippers took a look, the Lakers took a look, and the Mavs got him. And the reason being is there's just not that much difference-making basketball talent in the world. There isn't. The NBA draft, they cut it down to two rounds. Okay, and after about the 14th pick, you're historically out of players. There's about two to three guys per draft that come out at 19 years old. And they're not emotionally, physically, they're not ready to carry a team to playoff wins. I love Zion.

Took a while. Love John Morant. Anthony Edwards. They're all great. But I'm talking great in the NBA as putting a team on your shoulders and getting multiple playoff wins. It took Yonis forever. Okay.

The reality is there's just not that much difference making global basketball talent. And Kyrie is very unique. The NFL's different. The NFL has seven rounds. Brock Purdy just quarterback the Niners in the NFC championship. He was the last pick in the draft. Half the league is undrafted. OBJ has got all sorts of talent. Doesn't have much of a market. Why? He has injuries. He can be high maintenance. Just go draft an underwide receiver out of college. College football gives you like 20 good ones a year. Sometimes more. So what's the point? But basketball talent, unique, global, great basketball talent. It's not a lot of it.

I mean, there's guys. There's guys that can score. But I mean, like, Kyrie level? I mean, good God. Westbrook's contract's terrible. It's been bouncing around the league for years. People giving him another shot. And he's grown away from the game.

He can't shoot for a guard. It's a shooter's league. So, yes, there's a market for Kyrie Irving. And I think he is going to work with Luca. I think it's going to work immediately. here's why. The Eastern Conference has more good defensive teams. The Celtics play great defense.

The Bucks play great defense. All the Miami teams with Spolstra play great defense. The Raptors play it. Cleveland plays it now. Actually, Brooklyn played it. There's a lot of good defensive teams. Five of the top six defensive teams in the NBA are east. I don't know.

Maybe it's the cold weather. People are tougher. I don't know what it is. I don't know what it is. Out east, they push more. They battle more. They defend better. You're talking about two of the great scores in the NBA in the last decade.

Luca and Kyrie, they're going to score a lot. I'm not saying nobody out West plays defense. The Clippers do. Memphis does, but the Warriors used to. They don't this year. Five of the top six defensive teams are out east. So they're going to score. They're going to score a lot.

All right. And the West is wide open. Now Steph Curry's out for a month. So here's the other thing. There's two ways I like this deal for Dallas. I like it. If Kyrie and Luca just play for the rest of the year, and that's it. I'd be okay with that.

You move some pieces. You'll have cap space. Dallas is a great city. Cuban's a great owner. Luca's a great player. Got cap space. Go get somebody. I like that.

I also like it if they play well together this year and they decide to get him a two-year deal. I could live with that because even if Kyrie goes off the rails after a year, I only got a year left on the contract. but it does show in both cases, you're showing Luca, hey, dude, we're going to take big swings here. We're not going to sit around. We're not going to do the Dirk Nevsky thing where we got a bunch of guys, but they were mostly guys. We're going to get you a star. We're going to take big swings on this stuff. So I like that.

And even though Luca's got a lot of years in the contract, you know, you can get out of contracts. You see NBA players demanding stuff all the time. So I like if they go short or two years. Long term, I don't like it at all. And then you get trapped. That's what happens in the NBA. you get trapped with a bad contract. You get trapped with a different personality, a unique odd personality, and Kyrie is that.

So there's a lot of different ways to look at this. But in the West, these two are going to score a lot of points. It's going to be really fun to watch. I was tired of watching Oklahoma, Brooklyn. I just don't buy Brooklyn. The personalities didn't mesh. I mean, I got things to say about Kevin Durant later and Brooklyn later and the Lakers later. But my takeaway on this, this will be really, really.

really fun to watch and really dynamic, and it will be short-term, very successful in Dallas. Long-term, who knows? Remember, three of the last five years, Kyrie's seasons have ended with injuries. And this is the other thing why I don't love a long-term deal for Kyrie. I'd take just the rest of this year or the rest of this year in two years. Kyrie gets hurt a lot. One year, he played 75 games, but he was hurt at Duke. He was hurt in Cleveland. He was hurt in Boston. He's been hurt in Brooklyn. He doesn't give you 58, 60 games. That's what you get. The problem with that is, this is now because you got rid of Spencer Dinwiddie and some other guys, it's a two-man team mostly.

So if one of them's gone, what's the point? I mean, then, because you gave away some depth in other players, you could be worse. If you had gone to the Lakers and you have LeBron Star Power, Anthony Davis Star Power, and Kyrie, any one of them could miss a game and you still have two stars. Those were winnable games. So long term I worry about a guy that just doesn't give you enough nights on the floor. Is Luca going to be just sitting there thinking, I gave up Dinwiddie. We gave up this.

We gave up draft picks. Where's Kyrie? But when they're on the floor together, I think it will look at times magical, dynamic. It'll be fun. It'll get me to a television. But I like that Mark Cuban basically went out and said, you know what, I'm going to swing big. That is a message to Luca. I'm swinging big.

We're not sitting on our hands. We're going to outbid people. We'll outbid the Lakers. We'll outbid the Clippers. We'll outbid the Sons. That messaging I like a lot. Okay. So LeBron did not like the outcome of this.

LeBron went to Twitter and his post was, maybe it's me. Well, it kind of is you. Because the reason the Lakers couldn't pull this off is LeBron wanted Westbrook and Rob Polinka caved to him. So they didn't have anything to give Brooklyn. That Westbrook deal has been a two-year killer. It makes this team in the half-court worse,

and it stopped and blocked this deal from happening. The people remember how much the Lakers gave up to get Westbrook. Kyle Kuzma, good player. He and LeBron didn't play great together, but good solid NBA player, KCP. In the bubble year when the Lakers won a title, he hit a lot of big corner three. They gave him up.

Long guy can play defense. They gave up Montrez Harold. Again, pretty good NBA player. If you had a couple of those guys, you would have Kyrie Irving. So in the NFL, you can make a bad trade and get out of it pretty quickly. It's really hard in the NBA. And so Pat Riley told LeBron more than once no. And LeBron didn't like it.

And after four straight finals appearances, LeBron said, I'm done hearing no, I'm out of here. And Rob Polinkas's first response to LeBron was, yeah, I'll trade all the young guys. And his second response was, I'll trade more young guys. And his third response was, okay, we'll get Westbrook because you want him and trade more young guys. And now, if you mortgage your future time and time and time again, don't be shocked if you're out of assets. The Lakers don't have any assets. Remember, LeBron came, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, they're moving this guy and that guy and they're getting AD. and now they're moving this guy and that guy

and they're getting Westbrook, well, you just sold off your asset. So if it's a poker hand, it may be time for the Lakers to fold them. What are they going to give anybody other than an awful Westbrook contract? They just kept saying yes to LeBron. And listen, they got a bubbled championship out of it. But Pat Riley started saying no to LeBron. And LeBron's like, I'm out of here. All right.

Well, Miami's good today. The Lakers aren't. So, you know, now finally, Rob Polinkas said, saying, yeah, I'm not giving up all this stuff. But to me, it's too little too late. This is not a playoff team. And that Westbrook deal, you just start looking. They have said yes to LeBron over and over and over.

And I've said this for years. LeBron's as great a basketball player as I've ever seen. But all athletes, be careful about wanting power. Let GM's GM, coach is coach. You play, be great. Mahomes is great about that in Kansas City. He plays quarterback. He lets Annie Reed, figure,

out, Brett Veach, the owners, he just wants the ball. In this instance, LeBron's had some power behind the scenes, and he's gotten what he's wanted, and they don't have any assets. What are you going to give anybody? So I think LeBron and Kyrie actually fit perfectly. I don't think Luca and Karee fit perfectly. They're both ball-centric, especially Luca. I mean, he's got the ball in his hands a lot. LeBron is very giving and a great passer, maybe as good a passer as the league has. I think LeBron, Kyrie, and AD fit perfectly. But what do you got? Give me something.

I'm giving you this. What are you giving me? You can't be giving me draft picks. Draft picks. The NBA, you got three players of draft that can ball. So there you go. Tom Brady an hour from now. Good to have you in.

And then, of course, there's a great player back in Brooklyn named Kevin Durant. There's a story yesterday.

The sons were prepared to make a big swing for Kevin Durant. And, you know, it's everybody knows by now, if you listen to this show, I hated him leaving Golden State. I was surprised when he went there. I thought it was a terrible decision to leave. Be that as it may. Something about performers that tends to be true. Athletic, music, sports. They've got egos, they're impulsive, they're impatient, they are gifted.

Okay? They need guidance. They need leadership. They need strong teams of collaboration. When Michael Jordan ran this league, he had the best agent David Falk. David Stern had his back. Phil Knight, one of the smartest people in the history of this country in sports had his back.

He could concentrate on basketball. He had this fortress around him of super smart people that had his back. Kevin Durant had that in the Bay Area. Bob Myers and Steve Kerr. I'm not saying his agent Rich Climond didn't have his back, but he had Joe Lacob, the owner for the Warriors feeding him internet deals in Silicon Valley. He had everybody out there making sure he could just ball.

And on more than one occasion, Kevin Durant has admitted that's all he wants to do. He left that. and I don't think the owner for Brooklyn is close to the owner for the Warriors. I think the coach for Brooklyn may be good. He's not Steve Kerr yet. They're not as well run as the Warriors. So I feel like Kevin Durant is often just out there having to answer questions last year and the year before about Kyrie Irving's vaccine decision and front office moves.

And will Ben Simmons shoot? And why is hard and upset? It's just unraveling. all gets focused back to Kevin Durant, who's at his best when he can just ball. When he was in Oklahoma City, Sam Presti, really strong front office. They drafted well, he could just ball. San Francisco, Bay Area, ball. Now, it feels like it's just unhinged.

And I think great performers are best served. Everybody says they want power? No, you don't. You don't want power. What you want is the ability to be great at what you're great at. Patrick Mahomes, great GM, great coach, great coordinator, great owner. He just plays football. That's all he's got to worry about.

He and his owner get some endorsement deals, but he's got multiple people have his back. LeBron James in Miami had Dwayne Wade had his back and Mickey Erison and Pat Riley had his back. And Eric Spolstra had his back. Pat Riley, formidable. And kind of went to Cleveland and it worked kind of briefly but not as good. and now he's with the Lakers and it's not nearly, it doesn't look like Miami at all, right? So now LeBron is left answering questions about personnel moves.

Every third game, do we have that? LeBron do this. How come you don't, are you happy about this move, the lack of this move? And LeBron feels like sometimes to me he's left hanging out there. And Kevin Durant just left hanging out there. And I'm not saying these guys are, you know, beyond criticism. but it's just some. Tom Brady's a great example. He's on the show in 45 minutes. When Tom Brady was in New England, great owner, Belichick, great offensive line coach,

he had people that had his back and Tom could just worry about offense. Then he went to Tampa. And I got a new system and unproven people. And you got to say in who you want it right tackle and running back. And there's more responsibility. And it worked briefly. But didn't it kind of feel like at the end, it started to unravel. Tom was at his very best when he had great support, collaborative effort. So if I was Kevin Durant, he still got many great years left. You know what I would go do? I'd call my agent and say, call the Warriors.

It's the best I've ever been. And the Warriors got all these young guys. They got Wiseman. It doesn't work. Cominga, it kind of does, but I don't trust him in the playoffs. Moses Moody. They don't play them. The Warriors need another guy.

And so, you know, this dynasty for Golden State, it's getting a little old and it's not ideal. And the young guys aren't growing fast enough. And the old guys like Curry or hurt again. And it just doesn't feel like, is it going to be healthy for Boston and Milwaukee? Can it get through the West? Oh, here's Luca and Kyrie. Could they knock us off in the first or second round? And it's like, we kind of need another guy.

You don't need another young guy. You're not playing the young guys you got. You're not playing moody. You're not playing Wiseman. Kaming is not quite as good or something as I thought he would be a year ago. So I think what makes performers great. Grammys are on last night. What makes the artist great is when they're just allowed to be a great artist.

They don't even have to write the songs. Some write the songs, some don't. But when you ask them to run their business and do this and have a say here and answer for a teammate and talk about front office, Sam. LeBron was really at his best in Miami. K.D. was at his best? Warriors. What do they have in common? Steve Kerr, Bob Myers, Pat Riley, Eric Spolstra, great owners, Mickey Eris, and Joe Laca. I'd get on the phone with Golden State.

They'd just admit it. They made a mistake. Don't make two and not call them. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. funny you mentioned Golden State. I was just looking at the salaries. Because, you know, salaries kind of have to match in NBA trades. Yeah. Yeah. So you can't really cobble together all the young guys. You've got to toss in one of Draymond Green or Andrew Wiggins to make the deal even salary. These are not easy decisions. Would you part ways with Draymond Green?

It's very hard. He is a catalyst. If you watch the Warriors play when he's not on the floor, the ball doesn't move as well. He's also their best defender. He also wants to be paid a lot of money this offseason. I know. He's also a great podcast. Caster. 35? I know. But. KD.

turns 35 in September. I know. I don't want to hear, let's give up on Jordan Poole to bring in Kevin Duran. I do not want to hear that. Okay. You sure? Kevin Duran turns 35 in September and he's been hurt a lot the last four years. That body's breaking down, Colin.

Come on. If he went to the Warriors the second, would they be favored to win it all? It depends who they lost. If you lose Draymond Green, yeah, they're favored to go. Okay. How about Jordan Poole, Wiseman, Moody? Oh, come on. No way.

You'll be a terrible franchise for like five years after that. All right. It's not how I see it. Oh, okay. All right. All right. Let's get to the NFL. Super Bowl week.

Finally here. Eagles Chiefs excited for Sunday. There's one guy, Brandon Ayuka, the Niners, wide receiver. He is very curious who's going to win the game. And actually, he doesn't even think the Eagles will have enough to beat Casey. Hypothetically speaking, if I were going to bend on this game, I would go take everything that I don't. get it in cash and put my money on Kansas City cheese.

I don't know fully about that defense. I don't know. They talk about them being a good defense. I'm not too sure. I'm not sure. I think the past game, this Kansas City pass game, will expose what we thought we were going to be able to expose before some unfortunate circumstances happen.

So we'll see. We'll see. But like I said, you got to get lucky to win the Super Bowl. And they just got extremely. likely last week, so who's to say they can't do it twice? You know, if you think about this, Cincinnati and Kansas City were tied in the second half. But the, right?

It was in 2020 or something? Yes. So one of the advantages Kansas City had against Cincinnati, which they will not have against Philadelphia, is the pressure on Burrow, because the Bengals O line was missing three starters. So if you take out the pressure that Joe Burrow faced and Jalen Hertz has, time to throw, I thought that was a huge component to the chief success against Burrow, who had a terrible game by his standards. They got enormous pressure on him, especially early. This is the

best offensive line in football. So the game, whether Kansas City wins or not, it will not look like the Cincinnati game where you felt that entire game that Chris Jones was dictating terms. It's not going to look like that. This is, you go from three backups with the bingles to the best offensive line. That doesn't mean you can't beat Philadelphia. But this game, and Spags and Andy Reader seeing it on film, they knew Chris Jones was going to blow up that line. They knew they were going to put more pressure on Burrough than the Bengals could get on Mahomes. The truth is it'll probably be the opposite where Mahomes will face now much more pressure than Jalen Hertz does. It's weird. I don't know what to expect from the Eagles, Colin. I really don't. I mean, we saw

him against a terrible Giants team and Daniel Jones. And then we saw him against the third string quarterback who got hurt and knocked out of the game and then couldn't pass. So just how good is Philadelphia? I don't really know. Do you? Well, they have blown out two playoff teams. And that New York Giants team was playing well at the end of the year.

No, no, no. We don't think it's great. But they were playing as well as they could play. And the game was over about six minutes in. But you're going from Daniel Jones and Brock Purdy slash Josh Johnson to Patrick Mahomes. That is kind of a massive rise up in town. So I don't think we're going to have a 38 to 7 game. But I think the one thing I know is that Jalen Hertz, Jalen Hertz should have a reasonably comfortable pocket compared to what Burrow faced. Now Burrough is better than Jalen

Hertz. So that could be the wash. Burrow was sacked five times in that game. Yeah. And so I think the game, this is probably one of the toughest Super Bowl. Yeah. I get asked everywhere I go like you do. hey, who's going to win the game? And my takeaway is, I need to watch the first three series. I want to see what the line plays like. If Philadelphia can run the ball, Kansas City's in trouble. And I think Kansas City knows make Jalen Hertz beat us throwing the ball. And by the way, first three series, I was doing a lot of prop work this weekend. The Chief scored on the first three series against Jacksonville, first three series last game against the Bengals.

They're not doing that against Eagles. They're not going up and down the field against this team. They're not. It's going to be tough. I don't really. We'll see. Very excited for the Super Bowl on Sunday. Next up, Raiders and Derek Carr.

So the clock is ticking, column. The Raiders have until February 15th to find a deal for Carr before his $40 million salary becomes guaranteed. If they cannot find a trade, they'll obviously just cut him. Any intel over the weekend? You talk to anybody? Because this Derrick Car trade stuff is all pie in the sky. I don't think there's anything there.

You don't think Carr is going to get traded? Absolutely not. Why would you trade for him? The Raiders are going to have to cut him. Why would you give up draft capital? Because if you're Carolina and you're the Jets, if I'm the Jets, I trade for him, because if I don't get him and Carolina does, that coaching staff's all going to get run. If I'm Robert Sala, I'm not saying, hey, just wait until he's cut.

I'm like, let's go get him for a second round pick. I mean, I'm Robert Sala. Whether you like him or not, in that division, they win five games. The Jets history is they'll move on from Robert Sala. So I guess we need to know what they're a lot of. car once. Does he want to go play in New York for Sala and the Jets? I don't know. Because he, you know what?

He could reject it. He could say, I don't want to go to New York. I know this. In both instances, in Carolina, much easier to vision. That's attractive. In New York, there's a lot of good players. They got a lot of good talent. More than the Raiders do. So,

I think they're both attractive. I still think Carolina feels, with Frank Reich, feels really good. That is, he would be the best quarterback in that division now that Brady's gone, day one. By far, the best quarterback in that division. Just for the record, when I moved the family from Pennsylvania out here to California, we had months.

We knew what was coming down. I was coming out here trying out for Fox. We have months to think about it. Carr has a couple of weeks left to make a decision. If Carolina calls from, do I want to move across the country? I've been in with this franchise for what, eight, nine years? He's still a kid, though. He's like 32 years old, isn't he 31?

Kid? Well, he's not, I mean, Derek Carr's got another five great years left. Easily. You don't, I mean, he hasn't suffered a lot of injuries. He doesn't miss a lot of starts. Very positive guy. You're not getting any bitterness. The only reason I would say no is, is I want to see what else is out there. Does Tampa come after me hard with options and the tax situation of Florida? So if I'm the Raiders, I don't get greedy with Carr. Here's the reason, because we need a quarterback and we may want Rogers. So I'm not going to get too good. greedy, I do need at least a second round pick because I'm going to have to give that thing back to the Packers. So right now the Raiders have a first, a second, a third, a fourth, two, fifths,

I believe a six. So what the Raiders want to do is get something because whatever they get, they're going to have to give it all to Green Bay. So let's say you go to Green Bay and you say, okay, we'll give you two firsts and two seconds. That's a lot. But if I get a second for Carr and a third, the following year, and I think you can get that. I think you can get a second this year and a third, I really do. I'm going to have to give that stuff all the way immediately anyway, so I want it to protect Aaron. So when I do get Aaron, if I have to give out first, at least I have seconds and thirds to go get starters. I would love to hear the back channel talk between Carr and his agent. Hey, Carr, if you get traded to Carolina, were you accepted or do

you want to reject it and just pick where you want to go? Because that's what I would want to do, right? I would want to pick the franchise and the coaching staff and the wide receipt. That's what I would want to do. I'm not going to let the Raiders dictate where I go. I don't know. We'll see. It's going to be fun, fun like nine days left. Yeah. Final story, Colin. Hey, we beat the market to this one last week talking about it. The Cowboys announced they've officially hired an offensive coordinator,

and as we told you, it would be on this show, Brian Schottenheimer. Come on down. He was a consultant in Dallas last year. The old consultant on offense. I wonder if Kellamore knew what was going on. I don't love this move. You don't love this move? You should definitely not like this move.

So it's pretty clear McCarthy brought this. guy in to consult because McCarthy said, I'm going to call the place. And then he brings in Schadenheimer, who's going to be a figurehead, he's going to have no power. McCarthy's calling the place. So I'm going to make my prediction here. Two teams in the NFL benefited from another franchise firing the wrong people. Carolina is going to benefit from Indy running out Frank Reich. Watch Carolina next year a playoff team. I know where you're going. And the Chargers benefited from this power play in Dallas and watch Justin Herbert with an elite offensive coordinator pop and get the Chargers into the playoffs. So listen, Staley did make the defense for the

chargers at the end of the year better because it got healthier. So we say this all the time. Not everybody that gets fired should be fired. There's egos, there's layoffs, there's budgets, there's power plays in sports. Reich shouldn't have been run out. Rikes, last year with Wence, Philip Rivers and Andrew Luck, all three. They played their most efficient football. It's a mistake by Indy, and this is a mistake by the Cowboys. Power plays left. They lose two playoff games to the Niners, an elite franchise with a great defense.

Better roster. Yeah. Nobody expected Dallas to, nobody was reasonable. I just, I don't like it. You know how we talked about Buffalo and Miami maybe falling out of the playoffs next year? I'm going to take a closer look at Dallas during the commercial break. I'm going to see who they're playing next year. Because they're going to have to make sacrifices on that.

could complicate the Packers' future discussions with teams on a blockbuster deal, because nobody knows if Aaron wants to play. I had mentioned this a couple of months ago, and I'll say it again, actually brilliant strategy by Aaron Rogers. I don't know if it's strategy or him just being authentic about his want to play. I have no idea. But years ago, Carmelo Anthony was playing for a good Denver team. And they were making the playoffs.

They may have made like a Western Conference finals. They're pretty good, if I recall. And then he says, I want to go to New York. And he demanded, I want to go to New York. And he told everybody, I want to go to New York. So New York was handcuffed. everybody knew in the league that's where mellow wanted to go for his brand so the knicks had to overpay for mellow or pay a lot and by the time mellow got to new york there was nobody around him you know he was a 20 million

dollar chandelier in an empty mansion and so errand's saying oh no oh but i want to play it's brilliant because let's let's just take the raiders i heard this weekend oh the raiders would give up two first and two seconds time out that's four starters on that defense in a division with great quarterback, Sean Payton, and Andy Reed. I don't want to give up that much. I'd give up two firsts for Aaron. I don't want to give up two first and two seconds and a player. Because remember, with Aaron, they're already paying Darren Waller the tight end. He's great. They're paying him. They're paying two defensive guys, Max Crosby and Chandler Jones. They're paying Colton Miller. They're paying Josh Jacobs the running back. You add in Aaron.

They got no roster flexibility. So you need draft picks. Okay, the Raiders need draft picks. And add to that is that Gruden and Mike Mayock had seven first round picks. They whiffed on five. They got Josh Jacobs, excellent running back, Colton Miller, very solid left tackle. The other five guys, no impact. So you start giving up picks after you've whiffed on your top picks and you'll have no roster flexibility. I don't care how well Aaron plays.

That's a third or fourth place team. There's nothing you can do there. So by Aaron, and again, it could be authentic. It could be strategy. Either way, I'm not giving up two ones and two twos. I'd give you a couple ones. And if I can get somebody to bite on Derek Carr, maybe I get a two, a couple twos, maybe a one next year.

I don't know what you get for Derek Carr. I would guess he's worth a couple twos. I mean, if he goes to the NFC South tomorrow, Derek Carr's the best quarterback in that division now that Tommy's gone by a mile. So I'd give up, if I'm Carolina, I'd give up two twos to win. the division? Get a home playoff game? Of course. I mean, look at Atlanta right now. Look at the Saints right now. What's Tampa going to be? These guys don't, I mean, maybe Garoppolo comes in. Can't trust him to play 17 games. So, Devonte Adams, Waller, Colton Miller, Josh Jacobs,

Chandler Jones, Max Crosby, you had Aaron's contract. You need draft picks. And so I think this strategy, if it's that, is smart. Is that, you know, if I'm the Raiders, I'm like, I'll take him, but I'm not giving you four or five elite picks. I'm not doing it. I think privately, if you ask them, I still contend 51 percent Aaron's going to stay in Green Bay. I think the Packers would be better with him.

They have all their picks. They're going to go get a tight end, another receiver, an edge rush. I think Green Bay, Minnesota is going to pull back. The Bears are still bad. Green Bay is going to win the division next year. I picked him to finish second. I picked the Vikings. I'm going to reverse that next year.

My gut feeling is. Minnesota's not going to 11 and 0 in one-score games. But you don't want to ever force your team to have to make a deal. In fact, I like how Aaron's just sitting back and saying, you know, I'll go where I go. And, you know, maybe I'll play. Maybe I won't. I think it's a good strategy. This was Aaron on CBS at the AT&T Pro Am and all the Raiders love.

He heard this weekend. A lot of people yelling different teams they want me to come to next year. which has been fun because we got a little inside bet going about which team's going to have the most fans. I'm just going to say that the predominant team that we hear as we're walking is Raiders. A lot of Raider fans are encouraging me. A lot of Devante misses you comments. I think Aaron would crush the offense would be unbelievable. I really like the Raiders' offense and the offensive lines better, according to PFF,

than most people think, including me. but the other reason people were shouting Raiders is because Raider fans like to drink and at golf tournaments, they're the loudest. There were a lot of Niners talk. Nobody parties like Raider fans. That may have been part of it. Here's the other thing.

I want to go back to this Kyrie Irving story on Luca. So I like the deal short term, but Kyrie comes with some baggage. We all know that. But you can't, this is going to be interesting. If it goes sideways, it takes two to tango. Remember, Luca didn't get along. with Porzingas. So there's three stages for NBA stars. There's the show-off stage first five or

six years. Look how great I am. That's LeBron James chasing people down, blocking the ball off the backboard. The second stage is, okay, I got my first big contract. You know how good I am. I'm tired of losing. I'm going to win. The third stage is, I've won a title, I got my money, mogul stage. I'm going to do stuff now for business. Michael Jordan did it at the end. LeBron did it at the end. So football's more about just winning the whole way through, but basketball is kind of different. Kind of moving to a mogul stage. LeBron's doing stuff now for the biz. M.J. at the end, doing stuff for the biz. So Luca is nearing the end after this year of the showoff stage. We know he's great. Five years, four All-Star games. Nobody can stay in front of him. He's great.

John Morant's still in it. He'll get out of it in a couple years. LeBron went through it. Lucas in at the show off stage. Step two is playoff success. This league, my entire life, and I started watching in 1972, this guy, this league has had dozens and dozens of guys who could score 25 a night to 30. And we don't talk about most of them. It's the guys who in the second stage can say, you know, score a little less, Michael Jordan. I want to actually win. I'm going to pass the ball to Paxson and Cair to occasionally hit a jumper. And that's what's going to be interesting here.

Luca did not get along with Porzingis. Now, in fairness to Luca, he was in the show-off stage. I'm not going to sacrifice a lot of my points for you when you're less of a player than me. I get it. Luca, all these young players, kind of show off, I'm going to show you how great I am. I want to make all-star teams. I want to get endorsements. I get it.

But Luca now, after this year, is going to, to me, it's time to pivot to the win stage. And you know how you do that? Give up shots. because Luca is very ball-centric. And if this thing goes sideways, it's very easy to just blame Kyrie because of his history. But Kyrie and LeBron did work together for a couple years. Now, at the end, I thought Kyrie made an egregious mistake to leave LeBron. But it did work.

And it worked really well for a couple of years. They were winning a lot of games. And they won a championship together. LeBron the Block, Kyrie the shot, down three. one of the warriors, came back to win. It worked. So some of this is Luca has got to at some point pass more because otherwise what Luca will be if he and Kyrie Fizzles, he's starting to look like Hardin, who couldn't work with Dwight Howard and couldn't work with Chris Paul and couldn't work with Westbrook and then couldn't work with Durant and they couldn't initially work with

Philadelphia until it's too late, Hardens out of his prime, then he takes less money, and now the Sixers are good. All those years of Hardin with the ball, scoring championships, the All-Star stuff, we're not going to talk about him in 20 years. We talk about MJ still today. We talk about Magic. We talk about, you know, Duncan, Shaq, the great ones. They've got titles.

So you know what Luca and Kyrie is going to look like. Not a lot of defense, a lot of offense, really fun. Two great elite get shots off guys. But, Luca, you're now pivoting into the, I got to win games now. The NFL doesn't really have this. It's about winning mostly early. You have shorter careers. Everybody knows it.

But in the NBA, it tends to go in stages. And I think Luca, it's time to move out of, I'm great. We all know it. He's probably the most singularly difficult guy to defend in the league. he gets his 34 a night. Whenever he wants it, he gets it. He's just elbows, arms, size, body, ball handling. He's impossible to stop. But do you want to be hardened or Carmelo? I mean, Carmelo at one point was threatened by Anthony Lynn. I wish I was making it up. And we don't talk mellow. I wish Melo after five years would have said, I want to win. He was threatened by Jeremy Lynn. The Kyrie thing is going to

have issues because Luca dominates the ball like James Harden and neither plays great defense. There's some similarities. Now, I think Luca is better, but don't kid yourself. When Hardin was in his prime, how many times did I hear analytic people say he's better than Kobe? I didn't buy it, but you heard it a lot. So let's not forget how great James Hardin was in his prime. For about four years, literally the league changed that stepback rule because nobody can

stop him. Literally you could not stop hard. He either got the basket or got to the free throw line. So it's time for Luca, not just Kyrie. Luca knows what Kyrie is. Everybody in the league knows what Kyrie is. Sometimes Luca step back, give other guys the ball. Because I do think I, there's nothing, there's not a lot of stuff in the, you don't have to like Kyrie. If you don't, if you don't understand how good he is, the guy's incredible. But isn't it not about how good he is and how radioactive and toxic he is in the locker room, left Cleveland in a really bad state with LeBron. Went to Boston. Total disaster. Drags Kevin Duranta, Brooklyn. Bails on him. This isn't about basketball. This is about crazy Kyrie Irving. When you accept that, Colin,

you'll realize this is a bad move for the Mavericks. Positive glass, half full Colin. Tom Brady around the corner.
