Oh, live in Los Angeles, it's the hurt. Wherever you may be. And however, you may be listening. We're on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1. Lakers Celtics last night was a lot of fun. Here's an interesting thing. The Laker fans beat Milwaukee. They feel very good.

And should have beaten the Celtics, they think. So you faced a very tired Celtics team. The Lakers shot a better field goal percent. A better free throw percentage had more steals, fewer turnovers, far more points in the paint, fewer fouls, and at home lost to a road-weary Celtics team. Well, did you see the three-point discrepancy? I think Boston made 19. Well, what? And the Lakers made like eight. Well, and this is, so it's often, we tend to do this.

I don't like to do this, but I've done it before. We blame the player, the coach. We do that. I do that. It's the construct of the roster. The Lakers don't have enough good shooters. They faced a team that does in Boston. Boston hit more.

The Lakers don't have great wing defenders. That's not Darvinham's fault. Can't blame Darvindham for that. They did have wing defenders and they got rid of them all for Anthony Davis. And so now you have a roster that can't defend the three. That's why they could never beat Golden State. You have a roster that can't defend the three and can't hit the three. Now, they can play good defense.

And Darvinham's a defensive guy, Anthony Davis, so they're playing good defense. But there are limitations. We always blame the player or the coach. There's nothing. You can't give me a break on the missing free throws. Guys miss free throws all the time. LeBron's one of the great, if not the greatest player ever. He's missed a lot of free throws.

I know, I know. Blame the player. In this instance, you've got to go bigger than that. Well, AD also missed free throws against the Sixers that could have iced the game and go to overtime and lose. And now all they need to make is one. Let's just a three. All right, let me ask you. You know who else missed a ton of free throws?

Maybe you've heard of them. Shack and Tim Duncan. Yes, yes, I know. But Shaq had an elite GM and Duncan had an elite GM. So the team could overcome missing free throws. The Lakers margins are so tiny because they don't have any three shooters and don't have any wing defenders that in the end of a game, we're all like, you got to hit the free throw. Duncan missed a boatload and has how many titles? Shaq, they literally called it hack a shack.

because the construct of the roster, Phil Jackson could coach around that. Greg Popovich could coach around it. Poor Darwin Ham can't coach around it. He's got to have AD on the floor because they don't have any wing defenders. They've got to be at least good defending the iron. So, you know, we love blaming the guy. I think Darwin Ham's had a spectacular year. He literally convinced Westbrook to come off the bench.

And Russell's been terrific. And Russell's a very, from what I can tell, a rigid guy. Westbrook's been terrific. Largely, I don't want to nitpick. Did you see the Celtics saying, Russ, take all the threes you want last night in overtime? Go ahead. Well, I did not like...

And he took them, and he missed all of them. I did not like the Laker shot selection in overtime. It was abysmal. Here was LeBron talking about another close loss. How did these almost, like the almost in Philadelphia, the almost tonight? What does that say big picture about this team? Does it say that you guys are moving in the right direction?

No, we lost. You're talking to the wrong guy talking about the almost win. Does it change your long-term view of this team? We lost. Yeah, yeah. Be nice to have a couple of guys who could hit a three. Be nice to have a couple of guys on the wing that could stop Tatum. Time to go out and get Kyle Kuzma, maybe?

You can blame AD all you want, and I've been critical of AD. Duncan and Shaq couldn't hit a free throw to save their life, for a decade. But the coaching and the raw, Phil Jackson could coach around that because he had, I mean, I remember coaches can't solve issues. Phil Jackson, if he was here, wouldn't remember this because I was a nobody. Now I'm America's most trusted journalist. But there was a time when I was covering the Laker Blazers. And it was, uh, Rashid Wallace. Was that the jailblazers? Well, I mean, I don't know. I didn't call them that. But they had, they were really talented. And they faced, it was one of the, it was the best series I ever covered in the NBA. It was the

Shaq Kobe Lakers. It's that famous dunk. If you looked in that famous dunk, I'm behind the basket somewhere. So the best game I've ever been at, it was at the Staples. And I remember, coaches are limited. There's nothing coaches can do. And Phil Jackson's the best coach in league history. And I asked him, it was a, it was a scrimmager. It was a pro as a practice in between games. I was down in Los Angeles. I would go to KNBC, Fred Rogan, those guys to do all my editing. And I asked him during a practice, I said, Rashid was a tough matchup and I said, what are you going to do?

Best basketball coach in the world to stop Rashid. And he looked at me, Phil Jackson looked at me and goes, we can't stop Rashid. We are not capable of stopping Rashid. Meaning the greatest basketball coach in the world is like, some stuff I can't do. So on Darvin Ham,

we're all banging on. Darvindham has had a tremendous year. You think, well, they're 11 and 16. They got no shooter. They got no wing defenders. LeBron's like, he's like, he's an old guy. Still great, but he's an old guy.

All right. You know what? I'm kind of rambling here. Can I say one more NBA thing? McIntyre looks at me like him. So last night, so remember when Draymondon? Oh, yeah. A punch Jordan Poole.

And people didn't like it. Jordan Poole for a while went to high school in Milwaukee. So people in Milwaukee did not like Dremont to begin with. Now they're upset with them because Jordan Poole's got a connection to Milwaukee. I watched that game last night. Bucks, you know, Janus is insane. I don't even know how. Warriors are too small.

So last night a fan got after Dremon Green and you do have a right not to like Draymond Green. But there are standards in an arena and there are places you can't go as a fan. It is a ticket. It is not a right even if you buy that ticket. It will say in the back of the ticket there are certain things you can't do and somebody crossed the line. That young man right there. So I would say this, Draymond Green, let's put it in perspective. He's a triple villain. Number one, he punched

Jordan Poole. So that's going to turn a lot of people off. Number two, he was already a wildly aggressive player to begin with. Number three is he's part of the best basketball operation and they're kind of smug. So he's a triple threat as a villain. He reminds me so much of a guy named Bill Lambere for the Pistons in the 80s. Both love coaching, hyper-aggressive, way underrated offensively. Like people didn't understand, Isaiah was better than Lambert. Lambeer was a pain in the butt to defend because he could hit a three as a 6-11 guy. The warrior's offense does not move the same when Draymond's off the court. He's a total catalyst for the offense. His passing is exceptional. It all goes through, it doesn't go through

stuff. It all goes through Dremont. And Lambere was smart. He was a manipulator. Dramon is smart. He's a manipulator. So this is why I always defend Dremon Green, like Bill Lambere. He's one of one. Lambere was one of one. A lot of tough guys and bullies couldn't score offensively. Lambeer could bury threes. And a lot of tough guys now can't do anything offensively. Dremon's hugely important. And I'll say another thing. Who's the most beloved basketball? player right now, one of the most in the world. Charles Barkley. People love Barclay. Never gone into a bar and didn't buy drinks for everybody. People love Barclay. Barclay was not loved by everybody as a player. He got in trouble all the time. He got in fights. He was thought

of as a bully. He didn't like to practice. I love Barclay. But Charles would tell you he has softened considerably as a broadcaster. Charles could be selfish. He could be a bully. I mean, and I loved him. He's one of the most times. He's one of the most I've always told the story about Barclay. I went to a game in Orlando against the magic when they were really good. And for a quarter, Barclay put on the greatest exhibition of offensive basketball that'd ever seen. He hit a three. He dunked it.

He hit a left-hander. He went baseline. He went post. He scored in transition. At the end of the first quarter, Orlando Magic players waved a white towel in honor of Charles Barkley. He was an insane talent. There's three ways to score in basketball. Low perimeter transition.

He did all of them over and over. I think he had like 18 in the quarter. I was sitting there. It was insane. But Barclay, you know. So everybody likes to bang on him. I've seen Bill Lambere. I've seen Barclay.

The NBA needs villains. Sports need villains. I like him. And I'll defend Draymond to the core. Here he is describing the interaction with a fan. What did they say to you? I have some threatening stuff to my life. So, you know, I was this close to.

really going back and diving all the way in. But kind of just went back and told the official. And when I told the official what he said, he's like, oh, he got to get out of here. And you got to get out of here. You can buy that ticket. There are still standards. By the way, he's got an excellent podcast. Draymond Green, one of the best.

All right, let's bring in James Jones Super Bowl champ, former Packer Wide receiver, who's hearing me ramble on about the NBA. I hope you watched the Lakers Celtics last night, James. I did. It was that one of the best regular season games of the year? Yeah, they was getting at it. They were getting after it. By the way, Jason Tatum is really...

Man, one of the best basketball players in the league, right now? In the world, in the planet. Top six guy in the world. Ball in his hands, I mean. He's so skilled and talented. Didn't he look a little on that? When he had his back to the basket late, his favorite player was Kobe.

That looked like Kobe. At forward. And even to send it in the OT. ball in my hand, you got Brian Brown on you? He said, good luck, Brian. Hold on. I'm going to take you to school. So James is joining us now.

So let's start with this. I threw this theory out. Is that the Packers now have 250 film practices of Jordan Love. Five preseason games, seven regular season games he's thrown a pass. He's appeared in nine, thrown a pass in seven. They have 21 people in their player personnel department. Do your job. At this point, we know he's not Mahomes,

and we know he's not a total bust. He's somewhere in there. I don't want to hear about it's very hard decision. You know what's hard is taking a kid out of the pack 12 and thinking he can play. I got three years of film. So my takeaway is you know if he can play. And if, because you'd prefer to keep Aaron because of his talent.

No doubt. my issue is the minute Green Bay is out of playoff contention and they could be I mean it's it's week to week right play him to elevate his value to the league because I think Green Bay needs more draft hits they need another Christian Watson for Aaron I would move him and I would showcase him in the last couple of weeks one of those against Detroit's defense so do you think I'm crazy showcase him and move him 100% once Once it's a zero chance that you're able to make the playoffs, Aaron Rogers needs to be on ice. Jordan Love needs to be in the game, right?

Because not only does the organization need to see him go out there and play more, because when we've seen him against the Kansas City Chiefs, it wasn't a good out of him. You know what I mean when he started the football game. No, that's bad. We've seen him come in late against the Philadelphia Eagles look really good, right? You know, control of the offense, moving the ball well, making the right reads, making the right throw. So once the Packers are out, put him in the game. And you're right.

Elevate his value. Right now, he is not better than Aaron Rogers. No, no, no. And it's not even close, right? So the way the team is set up, like you said, when the Packers go drafted, free agency, whatever they may do, this is a Super Bowl-calibre team with Aaron Rogers under the center. So if you're eliminated from the playoffs, yes, put Jordan Love out there.

Let his value go up. If somebody wants to deal for him, then possibly deal for him. So here's the other thing. Packer fans push back and go, but if Aaron leaves, it's a big dead cap hit. It's not as bad as you think next year. And because you're not paying Jordan Love anything, it's a wash. But here's the thing. So I move Aaron to say Nashville.

Yeah. And I get two ones and a two. So this year I get their one. So I'd have now two first and two twos. And Jordan Love isn't as good as Aaron. But if I can hit a home run on a wide receiver, on a pass rusher. So Green Bay historically is drafted. So the cap thing with Aaron sounds awful.

but if you're not paying Jordan love for two years, then it alleviates that pinch. I think the first year dead cap hits $16 million. Second year, it's pretty ugly. But again, you're not paying Jordan. So my takeaway is I think it is a viable alternative if you talk to Aaron and say,

Aaron, I mean, you're telling me, you know Aaron. I heard he built a house or was building one in Nashville. You don't think he'd play for Mike Vrable? Mike Vrable's a great coach with a good coach with a great defense. If they came to him after the season and said, Aaron, we're not trading you to do a dog. You've made a lot of us rich. Vrable wants you and he'll give us two ones.

What would Aaron say? No, because I think Aaron's going to finish his career as a Green Bay Packer. He'd say no. His relationship with Coach LaFloor is second and none. And I think that's why a lot of this stuff is coming out right now. Because I think Aaron has let them know I'm coming back. I want to play. Right?

So now it's kind of like, oh, you know, I know we gave you all that money. We expected you to play these two years, but now you're letting us know that this is something that you really want to do. What is the plans for Jordan Love? And I think that's the same thing with Jordan Love. Knowing that Aaron Rogers is. Jordan wants to play now. Yes, knowing that Aaron Rogers is coming back next year. You know what I'm saying?

What does that leave for me? That leaves me sitting on the bench again for a whole other year. I want to go be able to show what I can do. And as you should as a player. You want to be able to go out there and play and show what you can do. So I think those are the conversations that's being had right now, knowing that Aaron Rogers is coming back next year. Now what's the plans for Jordan Love?

Okay, so here's the other thing. You want Jordan to play, but you'd like to set him up for success. Yes. Let him play against Detroit. That's a bad defense. And if they're out of the playoffs, they may rest some guy. They may not play them. So I'm going to throw another because you have insight.

So you believe Aaron has told him I'm coming back. Jordan heard it. And that's why the story comes out this week. Jordan's like trade me. So now I'm going to put you in Seattle's shoes. So they have two firsts, two seconds, a third and two fourths. I made this argument. If Houston takes Bryce Young, which I would, the rest of these quarterbacks are projects.

This roster's good. I would go give up my third round pick to get Jordan Love, who will be 25, and then I would just fill the first pick, get a nose tackle. Seattle needs it. Second pick, get an outside linebacker, third center. receiver. So if I was Seattle, because I don't think this Gino thing, I think we kind of know. So do you think that's crazy? Seattle with those picks says we'll give you a third for Jordan Love. Well, for me, it's all about, do you think Jordan Love is that much better than Gino Smith? The number one, that's what you got to ask yourself as the Seattle Seahawks, GM, P. Carroll,

wherever, Snide. Is he that much better than Gino? Right. Right now, we don't know from what we got. Bryce Young is. Bryce Young is. But we're. We're talking about giving up a third round pick for Jordan Love. So when we do give up this third round pick for Jordan Love, is he going to come up in here and ball harder than Gino? Because we might not believe in Gino, but Gino is playing well. I mean, he has the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs. He's playing well.

Yes, they're going like this, but he's been playing well. So training for Jordan Love is he that much better than Gino Smith, right? And then if he is that much better than Gino Smith, are we ready to commit to Jordan Love long term? Do we want to give him this contract long term that he's the question? quarterback of the future. I don't know because it's such a small sample size with Jordan Love. I think the Packers have the best insight because like you said, so many practices watching them go seeing them better, seeing them trend in the right direction, right? So I think

the main thing that could happen is I hope the Packers don't get eliminated, but if they do, it'll be good for Jordan Love to show the world that I can play this game at high level. What if the Packers deep down like Jordan Love, but they've seen all these practices, they know he's got a ceiling? Yeah. So they only play him against Detroit. set him up for success. They could play them earlier, but their takeaway is, we don't want to put him out there for three games because the flaws may show to the league.

And so, I mean, that's, you know, they know the odometer what's on it exactly. And I think for them, you drafted this kid, right? So I think Coach Lafore, you went out there, you said Jordan Love is the guy you want you draft, you draft this guy. Yes, obviously Aaron won another MVP. He played out of his mind.

You signed up to an extension. But for me, I think the best place for Jordan Love is the green. Bay Packers. Not playing? Yeah, you're starting to learn this offense. You're learning from Aaron Rogers. That's why it's night and day when he came in. When we seen him in Kansas City, we're like, oh, my goodness, right?

They need to trade him now, you know what I mean? Now we're talking about after he played against the Philadelphia Eagles, the value that people could get for him. He's that type guy. So he's getting better and better in the same system. Aaron Rogers is not going to play for five more years. He's going to come back next year and play, and that's possibly going to be it for Aaron Rogers.

We don't know. And then it's your show. with Coach LaFleur in the same offense on a really good team because they have a really good roster and you have a chance to go out there and play really good football and have a lot of success. But Jordan said this week, as a journalist, I have to admit this,

he said, I want to move if I don't play. I would say the same. I want to play. I want to show the world what I can do. And if I'm going to ride the bench again next year, I want to play. I mean, you're human. He want to play, he wants to show.

He loves football. He wants to show the world what he got. Okay. You know as a. Raider for one year. You were a Packer for eight, Raider for one. I would bring Derek Carr back, but I absolutely believe there is a big market for Derek. It's not a small market. It is a eight, nine, ten market for Derek Carr. No doubt about it. I think the dolphins today privately would take him over to it in two seconds. No doubt about it. It's a lot of teams. Oh, let's just say 10.

So you're the Raiders. He's not Josh's guy. He's getting expensive. Would you move him or keep him? I'm absolutely keeping Derek Carr. I truly believe from what I've seen with Derek, playing with Derek, from what I've seen with Derek, Derek can win a Super Bowl for the Las Vegas Raiders. He's that type talent at the quarterback position. Derek Carr could throw the football with the best of him, right? So for me, for the Raiders, the problem has always been, and I'm not saying all the blame, but the problem has always been the defense being ranked 30.

Well, the back end's bad. The back end's bad. I mean, Matt Max Crosby getting after the passer. He's great. But, I mean, there's a lot of holes in the defense. I mean, you just let Baker Mayfield go 95 plus yards on the defense. I'm not blaming everything on the defense, but Derek Carr is capable of taking the Las Vegas Raiders to the Super Bowl

if he has a middle-of-the-pack defense, right? You look at all the greats. Tom Brady has won all these Super Bowls with top 10 defense. Aaron Rogers won his with a top-five defense. Yeah. Like, you need help. Well, Peyton won in Indy with his best defense, I believe. Aaron won in Green Bay with his best defense.

You need help. The quarterbacks, yes, they're special. They get paid all the money, right? They make everybody around them better, which Derek Carr does. But you need help on the defensive side of the ball, too. And when you win championships, right, it's a big part of the way the defense plays. Since Derek Carr has came in the National Football League, I want to say his best defense was in the 20s, you know.

So everything that I see from Derek Carr, even under Josh McDaniels, he's playing well. I like him. He's playing well. And if they did, Dillem, yes. Everybody will be calling, blowing up them phones for Derek Carr because he's that type quarterback, and he can win you a championship. He's that type of talent. If I told you tomorrow with your young receivers, J-Mack, Derek Carr, would you take him?

I would take him. No doubt. About it. Yes, I would take him. Okay, let's just two. Oh, my goodness. New York Giants, I trade right now. No, I'm insane.

He hasn't been great this year. They haven't blown four double-bages. Okay, Hunter Renfro hasn't been there. Darren Waller hasn't been there. And that old line outside of left tackle, ain't great. And by the way, he's got a new staff, new playbook, new coach. I'm with him. I think Derek had – I think he'd have –

And he's had five or six of them since he's been in the league, new coordinators, and playing at a high-level pro bowl, all that type stuff. Derek Carr's a special quarterback, special thrower of the football. It'll be a lot of bidders if they did, but I hope they don't. I hope he's in Las Vegas again because I think they got some good stuff. I just defended Draymond Green because of what a fan said. Did you ever have a fan say anything inappropriate? No, no, no. You know football field a little different, right?

You further away. You can't really hear all that stuff. I don't pay attention to that. Yeah, yeah. People heckle me during the show. They're on my own staff. He could give the Raiders their first pick, which is a top three. The Raiders could draft a quarterback if they wanted to start over again. I'm just telling you, Seattle's got a lot of options here. I don't think Gino big pictures the answer.

I would get Derek. I'd give up a first this year and a first next year. They have two first this year. Isn't it fun to play GM? So exciting. You don't have to worry about losing your job. If I didn't do this, that's always been my job. dream. I'll tell you off air some of the soccer stuff we're talking about with the Mexican soccer team.

It's very exciting. Well, you'll leave in me to be a GM? I mean, I'd have to move to Mexico. That's not happening. Beautiful. You've been to Mexico City? I haven't. No, not yet. I want to talk Lakers here real quick. So the Lakers played the Celtics last night. You know, the Lakers beat Milwaukee and they hit free throws and they would have beaten Boston. I think the Lakers, because of their age and their limitations, are built in a one-game setting to beat anybody. But it is concerning. Think about this. A.D. is playing the best basketball of his career. He's putting up Shaq MVP numbers.

Westbrook has totally embraced his role. and LeBron year 20 is really healthy, and they're 11 and 16. Everything has gone right, and they're 11 and 16. And of the 11 wins, three are against the tanking spurs, two are against the awful pistons. So they've got like six wins against functional teams. And it's going perfectly. AD is playing his best basketball. LeBron isn't injured.

Westbrook has totally, totally bought into his role. So that's, I mean, last night's a great example where it went right. They shot better than Boston, free throw line, field goal, more steals, fewer turnovers, dominated them in the paint because the Celtics are small when Robert Williams is out, fewer fouls and lost at home. So I think the Lakers have to take a big swing here. I don't think they're built to win a long series because They don't have the defenders or the shooters on the wing.

And I think to win a series against the Clippers or the Warriors out West, you've got to have, you can't just rely on LeBron being Superman. In his 20th year, it's very likely he'd miss a game in a series. Anthony Davis gets banged up. So it's both the Celtics Lakers have flaws. But the Lakers, really, it's been the best case for everything so far. LeBron Westbrook A.D., playing out of their mind. Not to nitpick Darvindham,

but he rode Troy Brown last night because Brown was part of that big run between the third and fourth quarter. But as you noted earlier, Tatum was out for that. So we didn't see much Lonnie Walker, who I think might be their best wing defender. We didn't see him late. I thought that was disappointing from Darvinham. I know it's Lonnie Walker and you're probably scoffing, but he's probably their best wing defender. He's like their version of Caruso. I mean, unless they go out and get Bogdanovich from the Pistons, but he's not a defender.

He's a shooter. That's right. Yeah. J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Tyree Kill obviously traded from the Chiefs to Miami in the offseason,

but he was on the Fox Sports Club Shay-Shay podcast with Shannon Sharf and revealed his main reason for wanting out of Kansas City. I was surprised by this, Colin. It would be some games where, like, I get two targets. I get three targets. and we'll go into meetings and my coach will be like, hey, we got to get you involved,

we got to get you involved. So I'm calling my agent every week after they say some crazy stuff like that. I still got love for all of them boys, Patrick, Kelsey, Veach, Coach Re, E, B, I still love them. You know what I'm saying? But there's no one.

If we do play them, if we do see them, it's showtime. They better have two people on me. That's all I know. The cheetah would be arriving. Don't blame him. I get it. Come on. Now, he's a wide receiver.

You got about an eight-year prime, and they're not getting him the ball enough. Okay, so I looked it up. He had three games of two targets last season. That's not enough when you're the MVP-level receiver. Two and one in those games. The one was a wacky loss to Baltimore with a two-point conversion later. He wanted to get paid. Well, he wanted to get paid, but he wanted to be a star. But by the way, what's wrong with an athlete wanting to be paid?

I want to be paid. You want to be paid. Go get paid. And miss the playoffs in Miami while Kansas, City possibly on their way to the Super Bowl. Listen, that's a choice, right? Well, Miami's going to make the playoffs. They're going to lose this one. Say you.

I do. I think what Kansas City saw is we can replace Tyreek Hill in the aggregate. We can get three or four guys, jujuice with Schuster. Yeah, but they haven't. But for the record, they've done a great job, but they miss Tyreek Hill. They miss that lightning. In the playoffs, they might. But Colin, the top three offense in the league, I think second best record in the

AFC. I like Tyree Kill, but if he's on the sofa in January when the Chiefs are playing. Well, you know what? Those checks aren't bouncing, though. They're not. He's partying in South Beach or wherever he's living. If you told me I got to live in Miami or Kansas City, all due respect to the Great Barbecue. It's not close.

Aquafewater, no state tax, warm winters. I did not go to my bachelor party in Kansas City. We were in South Beach. Next story. Odell Beckham Jr. Still unsigned, Colin. And their reports are now saying that O'Dell Beckham, may just sit out this entire season.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN is saying he may just sign with the team in free agency when it opens in March. Yeah. O'Dell Becker may have misread his value. Maybe those comments that he made on the shop with the Bron. He did misread his value. That's not an opinion. When you'd say as an NFL player, I just want to play play play playoff games and you are a brittle, older player, you have misread your value. And a lot of people bet on themselves.

Joe Flacco once didn't got rich. I am all for players betting on themselves, but he has absolutely misread his value. He is not good enough to say, I'll be available in the postseason. I don't think you want... By the way, if you're Travis Kelsey, I don't think you should say that publicly.

I don't think that's... The NFL culture is you play hurt, you play in bad weather, you play hobbled, that's the culture. Basketball, you take the night off. Baseball, you skip a road trip. It's not the football culture in America. Here's the worst part for Odell.

His comments are probably going to make any contract going forward really incentive base. If you play X games, X snaps, put up these numbers. Well, that's what I would sign him to. Yeah. So I think he screwed himself with those comments. That was bad. You got to be careful when he goes on the shop with LeBron and Maverick.

That's a very cool, indifferent sort of vibe. And I think in the moment he said that, I think, you know, you kind of say, hey, man, I'm, you know, listen, we've, we've all said things. When you're in a group, you're influenced by others, you're hanging out with guys. you know, like he came across as kind of cool. Like, I don't need to play. And I just thought, oh, do, do, do, do. That's not what people in this league want to hear. And finally, Mac Jones had some fiery reactions, fiery reactions during Monday's win against the Cardinals.

Now Mac, huge game this Sunday against his former offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels. I'm very fired up about this Raiders Patriots game. Here's what Mack Jones had to say about facing his former coach in the Raiders. Josh is a great coach and pushed me really hard and coached me hard. And we just worked together and we were with each other every day and working hard. So he expects a lot out of his players and he's a smart, smart guy. He's got great memory, great recall. He remembers things from certain games and all that.

So definitely a great coach. And looking forward to going against them. Like the Patriots. I don't know how you don't like the Patriots here. I do hear people talking about, oh, well, it's the Raiders. Nobody wants to back them. There's a reason. Belichick versus his guy for 15 years. He knows all of McDaniel's tendencies.

So Baker Mayfield is in line to start this week for the Rams over John Wolford, who's all banged up. So in the 2018 draft, you're well aware if you watch this show that I thought Baker Mayfield was too much of a cowboy, too undisciplined, kind of small, not good enough to be a

number one pick athletically. I loved Darnold, who I thought was bigger, stronger, tougher, more athletic. He had kind of a slow windup when he delivered it, which ended up being really damaging to his career. He's just a little too reckless. He's Carson Wentz, where there's moments, Wentz is better, but he's just too reckless. So it is ironic that they both had their best week in like a year maybe. Baker came out 48 hours in Los Angeles, barely knew the playbook, got to be a little bit of an alpha and a cowboy and drove him not. 98 yards, and it was perfect. It's that two-minute drill against a bad defense.

They're playing a little pre-vent. He's always been able to step and throw, and Baker did what he does very well. Step in the pocket, little protection, make some throws down the field. It was a great, great night for Baker Mayfield. It was also a great day in Seattle for Sam Darnold, 14 of 24. A touchdown, no picks. A lot of it moving. No big mistakes.

Didn't have a turnover. Out dual Gino Smith. Kept Carolina in the playoffs. By the way, this year, if you look at all the games started by quarterbacks as you see Sam Darnold do what Sam Darnold does well. Move. It's a big athlete. He moves.

Darnold is 2 and O. Baker was 1 in 5. P.J. Walker was 2 and 3. Donald is their winning as quarterback. I do think both underwhelmed and will be viewed by many as a little. little bit of a bust, but I also think if both win going forward, they will become bridge quarterbacks. Let me suggest a couple.

Baker Mayfield in Houston. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but that's close to his home base. He could sell tickets. A lot of sooner fans in Houston. If you really have questions about all these quarterbacks, Caleb Williams will be available the following year. Baker Mayfield wouldn't be terrible. Indianapolis. When is the last time they were fun to watch? Athletic Carson Wentz, a tad reckless.

But Indianapolis is not going to be able to move up. Indianapolis now has two receivers. Indianapolis was Sam Darnold. By the way, Chris Ballard liked him out of college. I know that. He told me. Now, you know, a lot of people, I have a good GM friend who love two out of college. But those are interesting spots. If you don't love the quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield can win your games. Sam Darnold this year, undefeated for Carolina. This draft class outside of Bryce Young to me is all projects. Is one of these two guys potentially, Darnold or Baker,

maybe a Teddy Bridgewater type? Remember how he was a bridge quarterback for many years? Ryan Fitzpatrick. Both make too many mistakes. Teddy doesn't make mistakes. They're both better than Mitch Trubisky as a talent. Absolutely. Neither plays the game.

with the cautiousness of a Teddy Bridgewater, they can both, like Sam can make real plays with his feet. Baker can make real throws with his arm. Okay, I got one for you. Washington sneaks into a wild card game. They like, destroyed by somebody.

Okay. And they say, hmm, we're not, we can't draft the quarterback in the first. We got Taylor Heineke. Do we kick the tires on Baker or Darnold? No, because they're both mistake prone. That is the knock on Carson Went.

They have that. Carson's more talented than both Darnold and Baker, and he makes too many mistakes. Plus, I think Taylor Heineke's from Old Dominion. That's close to that area. It's kind of a fun story. You can keep throwing guys at me. Okay.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Brady leaves. Okay. They got, let's just say they keep left witch and bowls. You take a look at Baker or Donald? I would probably go Baker. Darnold is a little James Winston.

Athletic makes mistakes. They've had that. I think Baker, with that receiving core, could win some games, could win the division. Now, that's interesting. Baker in Tampa. I think that works. By the way, Kyle Trask isn't the guy.

He's kind of a plodder athletically. Yeah. So Baker can absolutely, absolutely win that division over Desmond Ritter. But we'll see what Desmond Ritter has to offer this weekend in Atlanta. Sounds like they're going to be moving on. I think Indianapolis with Donald, they're desperate. Sam wants to stay in the league. But they're changing their coach.

We don't even know what they're. going to look like next year. True. But Philip Rivers, unathletic, that's why they went and got Wentz. Matt Ryan, unathletic. Sam solves some of their issues. They had success with Wentz. He moves the pocket.

You couldn't with Philip. You can't. So Baker has some ability of Tom. He can sit in a pocket with protection and throw strikes. They got one more. They got Tristan Wurfs comes back, Donovan Smith. The offensive line needs to be healthy. That's a good point.

But if they are... Could be healthy. Good weapons for Baker. I think Baker to Tampa, Donald to Indy makes sense. We got to file that away. Final one, New Orleans Saints. Andy Dalton doesn't look like the guy.

They're not playing James Winston, and he's healthy. Taysam Hill is kind of a Swiss Army knife. Do Sam Donald or Baker Mayfield make any sense in New Orleans? Because they're not going to be drafting high enough to take a quarterback. Again, New Orleans is, yes, because they, now, first of all, they faced Baker, in division, so they have tape on him,

so they have a much greater feel. And now they have tape on Sam Darnoff. When they play in division, you have a better understanding of what a player is and isn't. So I think they look at both of them. Although Taysam Hill, they've already got him. He is athletic. So you can make an argument that Darnold and Taysam Hill,

they've already got it in the building. So I don't think Darnold's attractive to New Orleans at all. I think Baker... Baker and Tampa, what you just said. I think there is... That feels like it could work. And Darnold and Indy. He lets them roll the pocket.

He lets them, they can't move the pocket. I think Indy could have a massive, different look next year versus this year. Like their offensive line is in shambles, defense is all injured. I don't know what they're going to do. You should ask your buddy Ballard what's happening there in India. It's a bit of a mess. That roster suddenly. Remember, they were supposed to be like a 10-11 win team.
