Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Winning on Clay is an art.
The rallies are relentless.
And at the French Open, only the toughest survive.
I'd know.
I competed there for decades.
Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the
biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris.
She can win.
She's an outsider to win the French fame.
And she likes Clay.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.

Gosh.
Woo!
All right.
Hour number two here on The Herd.
You can tell we're fired up.
We got juice.
So much good stuff.
Cole McCoy.
Oh, my gosh.
Longtime NFL quarterback.
And also, oh yeah, he played a Texas.
Is that right?
Four year starter?
That went 45 and 8.
Bet Texas.
I hope he's not listening.
I still remember when he got hurt against Bama.
That's dumb.
Ruin the game.
It's terrible.
Obviously, Texas.
Ohio State
24 hours from now
we'll be in like the second quarter maybe.
Guys,
wait until you hear the bets
coming in on this game.
I'll do that in a second.
And we got Cardale Jones,
the former Ohio State quarterback.
Also had a cup of coffee
with the Buffalo Bills.
He's in the final hour.
All right, let's just bust right into it.
Three monster games this weekend
in college football.
I will fire.
I bet two of these in Vegas.
and I probably shouldn't say where I'm betting.
Anyways, here are my three bets for week one in college football.
Let's get started with the big game.
Texas, well, actually, that's Ohio State, Michigan.
Let's just call it a massive game.
The biggest opener in forever.
Texas, Ohio State.
Folks, I'm on Ohio State here, and I got a terrible line.
It was Ohio State minus two and a half a week ago when I was in Vegas.
Ohio State's now an underdog.
The line has flipped.
Now, for the hardcore gamblers out there,
It hasn't crossed through three.
Three is the most key number in football.
Obviously, the games, you can go back 20, 50 years,
end on three because of field goals.
Somebody went into, I'm not going to say the casino,
but in Vegas this week and laid a $550,000 bet.
Yes, over half a million on Texas.
That moved the line at this one casino.
Every other casino then follows.
And now we have Ohio Cesar.
state as an underdog at home.
Folks, I love, love, love the Buckeyes here at home.
It's just Archmanning height.
Or you could call this dumb money.
This is all public money.
This isn't sharp bettors.
And for everybody who's like, oh my gosh, that's huge money.
You've got to take Texas.
Just take a deep breath.
Remember, no emotions.
Last weekend, everyone in their mom was on Kansas State against Iowa State.
Everybody.
Lines moving.
Ohio, Kansas State loses.
Everybody loses.
Iowa State comes up with a victory.
I'm just telling you, I like Ohio State here.
I think it's convincing.
I'll go 2713,
and I'm not going to overreact to arch stinking up the joint.
I think it's going to be a struggle.
Come on, got to go on the road for the first start of the season in Columbus.
It's going to be juiced up in the shoe.
I have at least four friends going that I know of now.
And I'll be texting, Liner, my basketball teammate,
going to be a good one on Fox tomorrow at noon.
Next up, let's go Clemson and LSU.
This is a good one.
And I'm buying the Clemson hype.
I'm going with the Tigers minus four at home against LSU.
At some point, Brian Kelly's going to figure out how to win an opener.
I just don't think it's this week.
Nussmeyer, who we had some good stuff on earlier this week here from a guest here on the show.
He's got a tall order against his Clemson.
front. It is really nasty.
And I am going with Cade Clubnick and
company to win.
I'll go Clemson 31
LSU 21.
Final game, Notre Dame, Miami,
the Catholics versus the convicts.
Are we still calling it that? I don't know.
Is that, am I going to get canceled for that?
I like Notre Dame on the road minus two and a half.
Carson Beck returns.
But Marcus Freeman is just too good.
I think he bottles up the Miami offense.
This is a slobber knocker.
I'll go 1713.
Irish take down the cane.
So those are my three bets.
And let's get to Colt McCoy,
former Texas quarterback,
former NFL quarterback.
You got a 13-year career.
Colt McCoy.
Dude, you look so comfortable right now, Cole.
How you doing, man?
You fired up?
Am I too casual right here?
You just look happy.
I mean, you're like, dude, I can't wait.
24 hours from now, Texas, Ohio State.
Listen, everybody's talking about Arch Manning.
You know something about being a Texas quarterback.
A lot of spotlight on this game.
I don't know.
What do you think the vibe is around Arch?
It's tough to stay chill with this kind of media.
Yeah, no question.
I mean, listen, one versus two to start the season,
it doesn't get any better than that as a fan.
Lots of hype around Texas, you know,
playing the defending national champions.
I've been to Columbus one time.
I was just holding a clipboard,
but that's a tough place to play.
a loud environment, you know, there's a lot of talent at Texas and some inexperience.
It's just going to have to grow up quick.
But, man, I think everyone's fired up to watch this one.
Now, obviously, you are one of the biggest Texas guys ever to play the position there.
I am curious.
Have you talked to at all this week, Arch or anyone on the coaching staff?
Or are you trying to step back and, hey, you guys do your thing.
I'm just going to enjoy the game.
You know, I've talked to a few guys.
I've talked to Arch.
I mean, listen, you know, the number one in the country doesn't matter right now.
They are, I think they have their sights set on, you know, their goals and, you know, being able to play in a game like this on the road to start the season is awesome.
But I also don't think it's detrimental if you were to lose this game, either team.
You know, there's a, this is a long season.
And both these quarterbacks, both these teams are extremely talented.
I think Ohio State probably has the edge in some ways, right?
They change coordinators.
They know everything about Texas.
Texas staff has remained the same.
And so it's going to be good on good to start the first half.
I think out of that you'll see some adjustments being made by Sark and by Coach Day.
But it's going to be a fun matchup.
I mean, I think that the quarterbacks are the big one.
And, you know, you're playing on the road in a loud environment,
eliminating mistakes in and every drive with a kick.
Like there's a lot of little.
coaching cliches you can use.
But it is going to be, it is going to be electric, that's for sure.
We're talking to Colt McCoy, former Texas quarterback.
So I'm sorry, you said you talked to art.
So I have to ask, you know, is there any way to detect if he's nervous?
I know you.
I'm not asking you to, like, crush the kid.
This is like, I know he started a couple games, but come on, man.
This is really the, this is the showcase, the big opening of a guy that we've been hearing about for like, what, four years now?
Yeah, listen, I mean, you know, his message to me was, man, it's about time to go cut it loose.
And that fired me up.
So this is what you go to Texas to play for.
You get to go to Ohio State.
You get to go play Florida at Florida this year.
You get to go to Georgia.
You get to play Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl.
I mean, as a quarterback, any kid that's growing up in America, I mean, this is a dream for anybody.
And so I think Arch has done a great job of kind of honing in, locking in.
This is a different football team than it was last year.
There's good leadership.
He's weighed in his turn.
And listen, there's going to be ups and downs for sure.
Every quarterback has them, right?
And so I think, you know, for this game is trust your defense,
trust your coaching staff, trust the guys around you.
You've got great running backs.
You got good tight ends, great receivers.
You know, the offensive line is a little bit inexperienced,
but they're really talented up front.
And, you know, to the extent that you can eliminate as much of the distractions as you can
and just go play football, that's going to be, you know, the test. And listen, I mean, I, there's a,
there's a last name on his jersey that, you know, that matters. His family has had so much success,
and there's such good, good guys and good representations of all things football. But Arch wants to go
create his own. He wants to, he's his own guy. And I'm fired up to watch. I know you get asked
about arts a billion times, but I have to ask this one, because Steve Spurrier brought it up,
and then Urban Meyer. I've talked about it, but I'm not,
who cares what I say.
Do we know if Arch Manning is good, Colt?
I mean, he's flashed against UTSA and some lesser programs.
He famously did not throw a pass against Georgia in the SEC championship,
did not throw a pass in the playoff.
Like I thought maybe he would have been used in some kind of packages.
They didn't really do anything.
And then Spurrier said, hey, he couldn't beat out Quinn Ewers.
Quinn Ewers is a seventh round draft pick.
So I know what's a tough question?
Do we know if Arch Manning is good?
Listen, you don't know if anybody's good until they go out there and play, right?
Like, you know, if you're going to play quarterback in Texas, outside of me, you know, I was hardly ranked,
but all these guys are the top quarterback in the country when they come here.
And you all have to go out there and prove it.
You know, and I think he has a great opportunity to go do that.
I mean, I know ours pretty decent.
I don't think he's thinking about that at all.
I think his one focus right now is what do I have to do to go beat Ohio State?
and then what do I have to do the next week?
And I think he's been around the game long enough to understand
like there's a big difference between talking about things
and going out there and doing it.
And so we'll find out.
I think you look at this matchup,
saying hasn't played much,
Arch hasn't played much.
These teams will really understand their makeup
when these guys make a mistake,
when they turn the ball over,
how they respond,
how they answer.
That's going to be the test for both teams.
These teams are incredibly talented.
It's going to be an awesome,
match up for any fan in the country to watch.
But it's not going to be pretty.
It's not going to be perfect.
I mean, the difference between these guys and the NFL is there's no
preseason.
You're just been playing against each other the whole time.
And so when the bullets are lies, when the lights come on, like, you've got to go play.
And I think both teams, both quarterbacks are chomping at the bit to just,
we're finally here.
We finally get to go do it.
Let's go see where we're at.
And that will determine this game.
And then, you know, moving forward throughout the year,
both these teams have you extremely high expectations as they should so it'll be fun uh you made a point
earlier again this isn't this is glossed over a lot because everybody's just talking about archmanning
versus jeremiah smith um four new offensive linemen for the long wards now i don't i don't recall
your offensive line did you ever play behind that rebuilt of a line and what can we expect out of the
gate from the four new guys yeah exactly i mean throughout my i mean i played quarterback you lose one
guy and you know your backup comes in it's kind of you might lose a little bit of sleep before that's a
that's a that's a that's a challenge but i think you know coach stark has done a phenomenal i think he's
the best in the country at recruiting and retaining talents and developing that talent these guys
have waited a long time to play there was very established starters on that offensive line last
year some of these guys got reps um but it's going to be it's going to be top i've been to
Ohio State. I was holding the clipboard in my freshman year and you don't hear a thing.
So these guys, you know, the communication, you're on the silent count, all of that is a, is a real,
real issue. And so I think Texas is the most talented football team in America.
I don't know that very many people would argue with me on that, but they lack a little bit of
experience, especially at front. And to the extent they can grow up quick, that's going to be
the difference. Now, I'm looking at your history here, and you beat,
Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.
Is there any bad blood between these two or just they haven't played enough?
Or is it just like, hey, we all five-star recruits across the board.
We're going to beat you up.
Ohio State's good every year.
They're always going to have talent.
I mean, we played in that jester bowl.
I was lining up against two of the smartest football players I think I played against.
Marcus Freeman was playing linebacker.
James Lauren Nis was playing linebacker.
They had a squad on defense.
Malcolm Jenkins.
And so every, I mean, Ohio State, every year is going to have talent just like Texas.
That's why this, that's why a match up like this is so much fun.
But I can tell you one thing, it's never going to be easy.
It's not easy to go into somebody else's house and beat them,
especially when you're wearing the number one ranking, you know, everywhere you go.
So I expect it to be an incredibly fun game to watch.
It's the first game of the year, probably going to be a little bit sloppy across the board.
But the team who doesn't turn the ball over,
you know, eliminates the penalties and ends every drive with a kick,
it's probably going to be the team that comes out on top.
Can we take anything away from that Ohio State, Texas playoff game last year,
or the rosters are just so different to new quarterbacks,
that we should just like kind of exit out?
Because Jeremiah Smith did nothing in that game.
If memory serves, they kind of schemed him out,
but it didn't matter because they had other dudes.
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, you certainly have to account for Jeremiah Smith.
I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to putting two guys on them the whole game and playing with nine guys on defense and saying, you know, Julian saying beat me, right?
But I think Ohio State, again, I mentioned this, has a little bit of an advantage in that, you know, they know Texas scheme.
You know, the coordinators haven't changed.
Texas on the other side, like Ohio State may open up the very beginning of the game in, you know, different personnel groups.
They might show a different look on defense that you've never prepared for.
watching the tablet on the sideline,
making adjustments coming out of the half.
That's going to be a big deal in this first game.
But, I mean, you can study players, you know players,
you know their skill sets.
And so I think from a matchup standpoint,
it's pretty even across the board.
Wow, I am looking.
You're right.
Jeremiah Smith, one catch for three yards against tech.
Now, you guys had the kid Barron,
who was a high draft pick, very good.
But it seems like offensive.
is where the struggles were for Texas.
They just couldn't get anything going.
Yeah, I mean, I don't think they played great on offense.
And, you know, they were at the three-yard line to try to tie the game up late in the fourth quarter, right?
And they were right there.
And so, if anything, I think Texas takes some motivation in that, you know, they ended our season last year,
and we get a crack out of them to start the year of this year.
I don't know if that's bad blood, but I know if I was playing, you know, that would be in the back of my head.
Have you seen or heard any trash talk?
Because it's weird.
it's usually the college kids are popping off on social media i haven't seen much there was one
comment made that was not amazing but i haven't seen much are you surprised by that
a little bit but not really i mean listen i think sark and coach day are two of the two of the
best coaches in college football and their culture and their program and and how hard they work
to build what they have i mean they're smart enough to know like hey let's let's let our talk and be on the
field and let's let's you know let's do it right very classy universities for sure hey uh one last
one before i would like to squeeze in an NFL if you don't mind at the end but um we do have cardale
jones on the show uh a little later on ohio state quarterback obviously won a national championship
do you have any a message for him perhaps and we could play it for him and do you want to get the
trash talk started uh the floor is yours yeah texas by 10 how about that cardell
That qualifies as Trachshon.
All right.
So the NFL question.
So, Colt, you ended your career with the Arizona Cardinals.
They're one of my like sleeper teams this year.
I'm just curious.
What was it like in the building, Kyler Murray and company?
You know, we'll see what happens with Arizona.
Yeah, I love Arizona.
Tough division.
I mean, listen, you got to play the Niners twice.
You know, you got to go up against the Rams twice.
Their defensive is young and strong.
but I love Kyler.
I would hedge my bets on Kyler every week.
James Connor, great friend.
They have a really good mix of guys who have a ton of experience
and got a lot of reps under their belt.
And then a good group of young guys had a great draft.
And so I think that's very fair to say
that Arizona could be a sleeper team this year.
I'll always pull for them.
Let me get in one last one.
I'm sorry, Micah Parsons.
I don't know if you heard Michael Parsons,
was traded. I mean, I'm in DFW right now. It's like, it's like Luca all over out here.
Really?
Feels like it. Wow, that bad, huh? So I'm just curious, where were you when the trade was
announced and have you been around a lot of Cowboys fans? I mean, there's Cowboys fans every
year. I mean, listen, trades like this, you know, you can't judge this right now. You look at
the Cowboys, they got four draftics or four first round draftics over the next two years. It may be a
little short-term pain for some long-term game. All I know is that Michael is a, Mike is a
ridiculous football player. You got to double team him every snap. He's a, he's a game record.
There's not very many of those guys out there, and he's one of them. And so to lose a guy like
down on your football team is, you know, you can't really replace that, right? So time will tell
on this one, but certainly it's been a, it's been a distraction, I think, for the last, you know,
several months in Dallas and I'm happy for I'm happy for you know Micah the dude's a
Hall famer I mean and and I don't I wouldn't consider myself a Cowboys fan I never played for
the Cowboys but I certainly live in Texas and I'm around Cowboys fans all the time so I just
just love to hear the chatter every day okay so we started with Arch let me get one more sorry
Cole listen you got a great guess you got to ask them so you just said the Cowboys have four
first round picks. We were going to, I swear it's on the docket. We were going to talk about this in like 20 minutes.
But is there a world where, hey man, if Arch shows out against Ohio State, they win. Yeah, you know where I'm going, Cole.
He's laughing. But like, if he has 300 yards, three touchdowns, lock him in as the number one pick against Ohio State. I know it's a long season.
But is there a world where Jerry's like, hey, we got to, we got to bring him home. And they want to trade up for Arch.
And I know you're laughing. But listen, man, we saw Johnny Mansell go into Out.
Alabama, absolutely cook.
And it was like, who is this guy?
Blew up, huge stage.
And he goes in the first round.
Arch, it's a high team is going to be bigger.
Yeah, I mean, listen, it's a long season.
You know, I can certainly promise you, Arch is not focused on that.
But that could be realistic.
Who knows?
I mean, you know, Texas is poised to, you know, have a great year.
If he goes out there and balls out and has an awesome year,
I think, you know, more teams than the Cowboys are going to be won them.
so you just, you never know what could happen.
All right, Cole McCoy, sorry to keep you so long, man.
It's just fun stuff.
I watched it forever.
It was good.
What do you have this week?
Texas Ohio State.
Who you got?
I got 27-13 Buckeyes.
Oh, my goodness.
All right, yeah, he's taking off.
All right, Cole McCoy, thanks a lot.
Really, really good stuff, buddy.
Take it easy.
Okay, thanks for having me.
Yeah.
Cole McCoy, he just seems like such a nice guy, right?
Rachel, he's just like laid back.
Sitting there and drinking his coffee?
Yeah.
I have a cup of coffee.
with him. So we've had Cole McCoy chilling. We had Jane from her car outside. Who knows what's next.
We are on the scene. I love he says Luca all over again because I do think it really felt.
Like if you're not in Dallas, it might be hard to process, but I think it felt that way to a lot of
people. It's just you keep having the rug pulled out from under us. What is happening?
Rug pull. Look at that. Your kids use a rugpole reference. My kids, you know, a little about
the crypto and a rug pull and meme coins. Anyways, all right, coming up next.
Rachel's going to tell us which future NFL Hall of Famer is lobbying for Shadour to start.
That's next.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers and guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news? Huge news. We created
our own podcast called
Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast.
Well, we didn't invent it. We just
contributed to our first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide.
of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down
my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

That guy seemed just like a nice guy.
I was just reading his Wikipedia.
It just seems like an all-around good dude.
You know who's also a good person?
Rachel Nichols.
She's here with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, so Travis and Jason Kelsey's latest podcast, no Taylor Swift, but it
did feature Travis campaigning for a guy, not even on his team, to get some playing time.
Take a listen to this.
Give the people what they want.
Well, I'm not going to give the people what they want.
What they want is an outlandish take.
Start Shudor.
Yeah, for sure.
I mean, listen, what do I want to watch?
I want to watch Shador Sanders.
Who doesn't want to watch that?
But I mean, coach.
Yeah.
But the people, what they want.
The world wants to see him go out there and not only play, but have success.
At this point, guys are rooting for him.
this isn't against anything against Dylan,
this isn't anything against Joe.
I'm just saying the excitement is there for him to go out there.
He's going to put eyes on the screen.
Look, I get it.
The Kelsey's are from the Cleveland area.
Travis is talking about,
you know, he's talked a lot about growing up a Browns fan.
He's come from that perspective.
I don't know, man.
You're an active player on another team saying what a team should do.
And he can say, no offense.
This is nothing against Joe or Dylan.
But just because you say it doesn't mean that you're not offending.
It doesn't mean that you're not kind of out of pocket there.
What do you think?
Am I being too harsh?
This is going to sound probably more harsh.
But do you think he's engagement farming?
After the monster numbers they did with Taylor Swift,
the numbers are going to come cratering down.
Let's have a Shadour take.
Did he hear him?
He's like, you want to take?
No.
First of all, he will never have to engagement farm in his life, Married to her.
Possibly, yes.
No, I just think, you know, they've been on a good run.
And when you're rolling, you're kind of looser with the takes and everything.
I don't know.
I really like Travis.
Personally, I covered him.
But I just don't think this is another.
You're an active player.
This is another team.
Don't get involved in another team's quarterback situation.
And again, you can say, no offense to Dylan or Joe, you're saying someone else should start over them.
This is a good point.
So do you think that they will now weigh in on like the Micah Parsons, Jerry Jones trade,
with some... I assume so, but that to me is a little bit less of a thing. You can weigh in on the NFL
news of the day, right? And you can talk about Jerry Jones if you're an active player, right? You'd
welcome to have bad opinion, right? But to start going into someone else's quarterback room
and say this guy should start over this guy. Yeah, do you think this will make the rounds in the
Cleveland locker room or front office? I don't know. I mean, I don't think they want to put that on the
bulletin board because it's insulting to a couple of their players, including the guy who started.
You know how to really diffuse this is to make Shador inactive for week one.
Just for the two quarterbacks.
There's no controversy here.
We got a starter.
We got our backup.
He's a clipboard guy.
Maybe Shador makes copies of this and just sort of slides it under coaching staffs.
Kevin Tafansky here.
Forget about what I think.
There we go.
All right.
We are dealing with the aftermath of the trade herd around the world.
Michael lands in Green Bay to a four-year, $188 million contract with that $47 million
per year salary, resetting the market
for defensive players by nearly $6 million.
On the Green Bay side of things,
this means that Packers will have a front four
with two pro bowlers. And particularly,
I mean, you got to count Parsons
and Rashon Gary as one of the most
formidable pass-rush combos in the entire
league. What impact do you
expect this to make on
the North, on the NFC. North?
Yeah, I think they win the division. I mean,
they have two better,
their top two defenders are, well, actually
aided Hutchinson's world.
But. And their
lions are negotiating that contract right now.
Okay. So Micah, Gary,
they did lose Jair Alexander, the cornerback.
So corner is a little light, but with the pass rush,
you know, they're just apparently sent the most important
run-stopping tackle in history to the Cowboys.
So.
Oh, geez.
Yeah.
Gary, Brooks, Wyatt, Parsons.
They need a nickname for those guys.
By the way, listening to Colt McCoy,
or maybe it was Jane Slay.
I forgot who said it, but Micah landing in Green Bay is good.
It's maybe a little off the spotlight of Dallas.
I'm just curious.
How do you think that plays for Micah?
He's now away from, you don't need to be outlanders.
There's not media in your face every day.
Do you think he instantly goes in and is a little more chill?
Hey, man, the Cowboys traded you, bro.
You got humbled a little bit.
Well, look, Luca definitely reacted to being surprised traded by Dallas.
You know, he obviously got in great shape.
all the talk about how you know slovenly he was and all of that stuff that is some of the words he is
so so yeah i think i think it makes you think like oh man they traded me but i think jane hit on a good
point which is that there aren't the cameras in your face that can catch you off guard that
dallas cowboy's locker room you know i've i've been in both of those locker rooms and the
cowboys locker rooms you have so many people with phones and cameras and everything microphone in your
face and any one of those 30 people gathered around your locker can trip you up and you can say
something. In Green Bay, it's just a smaller media market, right? So there's only every day at
practice, it's just a much smaller contingent, maybe 10 guys, that kind of thing. And so you're not
going to have some of the trip up potential, but what's different in today's world, and you were
just talking about this with the podcast and everything else, there isn't really a small market
anymore in terms of like
advertising power or media presence.
It used to be like, oh man, you go to
Oklahoma City as a basketball player,
you know, you're screwed.
Well, Russell Westbrook has like a million commercials when
he was there, right? So it doesn't
play that anymore. I actually think that is a
good split for Micah.
He actually just, and he's still a social media presence.
He just tweeted a few minutes ago,
which number should he wear?
Should he wear number zero or number
one, he's asking? I, 11
is not retired in Green Bay. It belongs to a rookie
right now, so I don't know what that's about.
How did you research that all right?
So he's going to go zero or one?
That's what he said?
What is that?
Like, do you think that's a sign?
Like, I'm starting over.
Zero.
Maybe.
I don't know.
But he's getting attention still.
He doesn't matter to size the market.
He's still out there.
Okay.
Rachel, with the news.
There we go.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
All right, coming up next.
So we tease this with Colt McCoy.
But this, uh,
Dallas set up with four first round picks over the next two years.
Their own in 26 and 27 and the Packers in 26 to 27.
Do they make a big move for a certain quarterback who's playing 24 hours from now on Fox?
We'll talk about that next.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays at noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Since the moment it was announced, everyone's had this matchup circle. Jason's betting on it. It's a big deal.
The Archmanning era kicks off with a playoff rematch for the ages as number one Texas takes on defending national champion number three Ohio State on big noon Saturday.
Coverage begins, of course, with big noon kickoff live from Columbus, 9 a.m. Easter. Tomorrow, only on Fox.
Happy Labor Day weekend, everybody. I mean, it's going to be a big one, obviously college football.
Labor Day, for me, growing up on the East Coast, used to signal the start of the school year.
You'd start the Tuesday after Labor Day. Of course, out here in California, we started like two weeks ago, whatever.
However, I would always celebrate going back to school.
I like seeing my friends hanging out, dominating PE, all that fun stuff.
I did dominate PE.
Anyways, yesterday, when the Micah Parsons trade went down,
I haven't seen anyone at FS1 as excited this year as I saw Greg Jennings.
He looked like he was celebrating going back to school.
Here he is, the former Packers receiver right after the trade was announced on FS.
on first things first.
Listen, historically, yeah, exactly.
Greg, no, I don't need any notes.
Obviously, I'm excited.
I've never seen you so good.
Matt, like literally, literally I saw the news, heard the news,
and my heart, I'm like, you've got to be kidding.
And then I see that it's real.
And I'm like, championship, let's go.
You got to love that.
Listen, as a Jets fan, I would love for the Jets to get a quarterback,
and I would go bonkers.
like that are here on the herd.
Now, I quickly want to just call up the Packers schedule
because, folks, they're favored in their first eight games of the season.
I don't want to go overboard with Super Bowl hype.
They are favored now because they're at home in a lot of these games.
And obviously, Dallas ain't great.
The week four game against Dallas, their favorite one and a half at Jerry World.
I don't that's like early game of the season now I mean Ravens bills are going to be amazing
Chiefs charges should be good but that game is the Micah revenge game against Jerry I would
you know he's going to be going after his guy Dak Prescott but again
these are the quarterbacks that like Green Bay they're missing piece you could argue I'm sorry
you could argue that they're missing peace for their Super Bowl team was a blue chip
superstar coming off the edge that you have to scheme for.
You just have to.
And right out of the gate, you get Gary Gough.
Then you get Jaden Daniels.
Those are two top 12 quarterbacks, the Brown Stink,
DAC, whatever, Joe Burrow.
So three of your first five opponents have awesome quarterbacks.
Kyler Murray, he's no slouch.
He's probably in the 15 to 17 range.
You know, I feel for Aaron Rogers having to face Michael Parsons,
that's not going to go well.
who doesn't matter about Bryce Young,
but then you get the Eagles match up.
And I don't want to go overboard.
Let's see, week 10 against the Eagles.
That is a, ooh, Monday night game.
I'm going to go on record.
I want the staff to just flag this
so I can flex on it in January
when Eagles Packers,
week 10, is a NFC championship game preview.
The only team that can stop them is the Niners.
I don't even think there's like a close fourth in the NFC.
I like the Rams, but we'll see.
So then you got giants, Vikings, they have quarterback issues,
and down the stretch you get that Lamar game late.
There are a bunch of Fox games 1 p.m. in November.
Oh, shoot, we get Micah Parsons on Thanksgiving at Detroit.
Gosh, this is just awesome.
We're so lucky.
I mean, you guys, so I went to a dad dinner last night,
like three dads I know are celebrating their birthday.
and all these guys, I haven't seen some of these guys in, you know, summer,
and they're just like, dude, you have the best job.
And I'm like, I don't always think about it like that, but I kind of do.
I just talk about sports.
And yeah, you're going to say some stuff and tick people off.
And, you know, if I look at my phone and Jerry Jones is texting me, you know, stop bashing me, you're wrong.
That would be cool.
All of Chicago hates me right now.
Josh Allen's fan base in Buffalo is very upset at me because I said Jalen Hertz was the best
dual threat quarterback in the league.
Let me just clarify that.
He has an unstoppable play that Josh Allen tried against the Chiefs
and failed three times.
Okay, I digress.
But it's like, that's what we do.
We talk about this.
And then you get a neutron bomb like the Cowboys trading Michael Parsons.
It's like unbelievable.
But guess what?
The fun doesn't stop there.
Because tomorrow, in 22 and a half hours,
my math is fuzzy.
I'm just so excited talking about.
sports we get arch manning against ohio state from the horseshoe on fox and like again i'm it's not
meant to be a flex i'm just hashtag blessed i know that sounds so nerdy but like it's just awesome like
saturday i'm i'm going to watch college football take notes like a nerd and then you know come in on
monday tuesday and we're going to just do it all again we are so fortunate that football's back
I don't think you guys realize the offseason is
here's a truth bomb
I told a couple guys on the staff
earlier this week I'm done talking about the Cowboys
I swear I said this I was like I can't do it
there's nothing here Micah's not getting traded
why would they do the Packers aren't doing that
everybody who's come on our show all these guys who cover the league
they come out and say it that that's not what the Packers do
Jerry's not dumb Jerry signs these deals at the last moment
I was done with the Packers
done with the cowboy.
It's not happening.
And then we get this amazing story.
And now the next layer.
Okay, we've been, I had to milk some time here to lead up to this.
So we're in the morning meeting, and it's like, oh, Dallas now has four first-round picks in the next two years.
Okay.
Well, they have DAC, as one of our guys noted day.
Dak's earliest out, it's like 2028.
They're not going after Arch Manning.
Did we just not watch Jerry Jones milk the entire summer for headlines?
You don't think if they win five or six games this year, he's not going to be like,
oh, Arch crushed it, he beat Ohio State, he won the Natty or lost, it won the high school,
whatever, he's coming out.
You don't think he's going to be like, go get me, Arch Manning?
Let's figure it out.
I mean, at this point, guys, and I don't want to go overboard, I do firmly believe
all bets are off with Jerry Jones.
He talked all summer about extending Micah and then ended up trading.
We all think that was largely a dumb move.
A couple guys were pushing back about how it could work out.
Yeah, it could work out in three years.
Maybe they get lucky like the Mavericks did with Cooper Flagg.
Otherwise, honestly, Nico Harrison would be the GM of a team in China right now
if they didn't get lucky with Cooper Flagg.
Seriously.
Now, it's a little different with Jerry Jones because he owns the team.
but again, you see that like podium stuff yesterday
where he's meeting the media after the trade.
He just sounds wacky.
So Archmanning, the idea of Arch in Dallas is interesting.
I've pumped the brakes.
I think Rachel's pumped the brakes.
Was it Albert Breer?
Somebody else pumped the brakes.
Slow down.
Well, here's Urban Meyer talking about Archmanning.
I actually laughed out loud at this on the Joel Clat show.
Arch Manning hasn't done a thing yet.
I'm hearing the word Heisman.
I'm hearing the word national champion first pick over.
And I went back and rewatched it just recently.
He's a good player.
I mean, he's a really good player.
But he's not, you know, get a couple first downs.
Get a couple first down.
That's good.
But just to be clear, Urban, it's not people saying this.
The vagus odds are Arch is the favorite.
The AP voters said Texas is number one.
the pundits are saying arch going number one in the mock drafts i'm one of those guys but fine
whatever so it's not just people are saying this about hype for arch like it's legit uh whether
it's wagers um people who follow uh you know the draft and gambling like it's all about arch right now
and yeah we can all right here's des bryant chiming in oh here we go of course rachel there it is
Des Bryant chiming in. Arch Manning will have a star on his helmet. Nobody can tell me different.
Des Bryant jumping into the conversation.
Okay, but Dak Prescott has a no trade clause.
That's the other thing. It's not just that he signed through 28. He has a no trade clause.
So there is that. There's also, I don't want to kill anyone's exciting fantasy sports here,
putting Arch on the Cowboys. But if you are at the bottom or the top of the draft,
the bottom of the league, right, and you have a high enough draft, let's say Arch does all the things you're saying,
Heisman winner, great record, all the stuff, Natty.
Don't you think the team that's in the number one or number two spot is going to want,
like if you're the Cleveland Browns, right, and you get the number one pick, which is not far-fetched,
I don't care how many draft picks Jerry has.
I'm not trading that pick.
They've had more quarterbacks in Cleveland since they came back into the league in 99 than any other team in the league.
They have to solve this problem.
So if Arch really turns out to be the guy that everyone's projecting him to be, I don't know if he's going to be available to trade up and get.
It just sort of depends on how that top of the draft shakes out.
And it depends, of course, what Dallas has to offer.
Where are those draft picks?
You know, do the Packers win the Super Bowl or at least are they in the Super Bowl?
So those picks are, what, 30, 31, you know.
So I just, I see a lot of obstacles, but it's fun.
You know, Des Bryant, you talk your talk.
Yeah. Here's Colt McCoy earlier on the show when I asked him straight up. Do we know if Art
Manning is good? Listen, you don't know if anybody's good until they go out there and play, right?
Like, you know, if you're going to play quarterback in Texas, outside of me, you know, I was hardly
ranked, but all these guys are the top quarterback in the country when they come here. And you all have
to go out there and prove it. These teams are incredibly talented. It's going to be an awesome
matchup for any fan in the country to watch.
But it's not going to be pretty.
It's not going to be perfect.
I mean, the difference between these guys and the NFL, there's no preseason.
You've just been playing against each other the whole time.
And so when the bullets are live, when the lights come on, like, you've got to go play.
Sorry to get excited for Coltman.
He looks and sounds like the kind of guy, Rachel, who if you're going on vacation and you
text your neighbor, hey, Amazon delivered a package, would you mind grabbing it?
he would do it in a heartbeat.
And it would be like, no, no problem.
But yeah, I just like the cut of his jib a lot.
Anyways, the problem with sports, Rachel,
is it's so fun to speculate about this Archmanning stuff.
This is what I just did when you were like,
DAC has a no trade.
And we know that.
Do you want to guess where Dak Prescott's from?
Tell me, Jason.
Sulfur, Louisiana.
You know who also doesn't have a quarterback?
The Saints!
Is there any way?
No, I know Archmanning.
But like, I'm hyper.
This is what we do.
do a sports fan.
It's like, would Dak want to go home?
I mean, this is why tomorrow's game is so excited.
I mean, the ratings for this are going to be off the charts because the possibility
that this kid gives us, it's exciting.
It's hopeful.
We loved these quarterbacks when it was his uncles, right?
And Cooper, his father, was the most athletic of all of them.
Unfortunately, had a really bad neck injury.
But that's why he didn't make it in the NFL the way his brothers did.
His grandfather, obviously, a legend.
You know, it's funny.
I have a question for you, Jason.
And you know how we count Taylor Swift visit, you know, in the chiefs broadcast?
How many times do we see Taylor Swift?
How many times, which mannings do you think will show up tomorrow at the game?
And how many times do you think we'll see them?
I'll be shocked if they're not all there.
You think they're all there?
Yeah, I think it's going to be all of them, probably Matthew McConaughey, right?
He's going to make a shit.
But using Taylor Swift as a line, are you over under Taylor Swift's of how much?
we'll see the mannings.
Well, I guess it's dependent on how
Arch does. I mean, if he's vomiting all over
himself and struggling, probably not
going to show him more.
He'll go more. Oh, geez.
I don't know. What's your guess on how he does? Do you
think he can win tomorrow? I'm with you.
I think Ohio State's winning that game. If it was
in Texas, that might be a different story.
Yeah. That is a, you know, such a high
pressure place to play. And I brought this
up on the show a bunch. The Michigan Wolverines
are the only team to win in the shoe since
2021. No other team has even been able to win there. So the idea that a rookie quarterback,
basically, I know he played a couple games last year, but is going to be able to, with all
these expectations on him, is going to be able to walk in and do the thing no one else has
ever done. It's possible, but. Yeah, I mean, anything's possible. But I'd put my money as you
did on Ohio State. And by the way, it's okay. It's okay if he doesn't do great tomorrow.
I mean, he's got a...
It won't be okay for the pundits who are waiting.
That's the thing.
You've been in media.
You know you've seen this.
The build-up, tear down.
Like Baker Mayfield.
Oh, my God.
He's garbage.
You know, that's what people do in this industry.
I mean, we're all guilty of it sometimes.
The hype machine?
It's not just us.
I mean, you know, society has become so polarized,
and there is no middle anymore, right?
Either someone's awful or they're the best thing going.
And it's true in politics.
It's true, you know, on the radio.
when people call in about different things.
It's just where our society is right now.
And I think it's because of social media.
If you don't have a take, if you don't have a big take, you're not getting those retweets, right?
That's a good topic.
We should tear up the final hour and do that.
Coming up next are the Packers' Super Bowl contenders?
Well, duh.
But what does it do to the Cowboys?
That's next.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
