This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.

Here we go, it's hour two.
I'm on a bit of a heater.
I mean, let's be honest.
I'm kind of hot.
Live in Los Angeles, it's the hurt.
Wherever you may be, however you may be.
Listen, I'm so fired up.
So USC Washington tomorrow at the Coliseum, I think it's going to be incredibly entertaining.
I don't even know where I got a buddy to text me this morning.
I'm like, I don't know.
I'm up for anything.
I was going to go to the game and I thought, you know what?
Flat screen, big screen.
chicken wings, order some pizza.
I think it's going to be one of those games.
I want the pregame.
I want the game.
I'm very excited for that.
Then I wake up the next morning.
I get Mahomes and Tua from Germany.
I mean, it's a good weekend.
Killer weekend.
And then Monday is like the cherry on top.
Jets Chargers Monday night football.
I mean, it's an incredible weekend for sports.
Well, let's do this Blazing Five thing.
I like to give out picks.
Now, I had a very dubious start to this season.
I looked in the mirror and said,
time to reorganize.
I had a terrible week, too.
But since then, the magic is back.
This is an interesting week.
There's not a lot of definitive opinions
from the wise guys, the sharps, of which I am not.
Either I am a square, a humble servant to you, the public.
But nonetheless, I like my picks.
Here we go.
A hot one.
Let's blaze it up.
Fire it up.
It's Collins, blazing five.
Bears and Saints.
A second week in a row, I'm going to take a blowout.
I like the Saints minus eight and a half.
Derek Carr in the offense, 400 plus yards, three straight games, 27 points.
They figured it out.
Third down defense, because I trust their defense with Dennis Allen.
Their defense has been great all season.
It's now the second best third down defense in the league, top five in all.
all the stuff that matters.
Listen, the Bears, there's some quit here.
They're 5 and 20 under Mattie Uroflus.
Zero wins against winning teams.
Just got blown out by the Chargers
who can't blow out anybody.
And their quarterback, the backup last week,
on passes thrown 10 yards down the field this year,
he completes 47%.
He was playing Division II football.
Last week, Chargers don't blow out anybody
under Brandon Staley.
That's very rare, especially this season.
This is a blowout.
Saints are going to clamp down.
Move the chains, swallow the 8.5, Saints win 3313.
Cowboys and Eagles.
Eagles are 3 and O at home this year, 12 and 2 at home last year, including the playoffs.
They're very good.
This is a big TV game, America watching.
Best third and fourth down offense in the league.
They'll control the line of scrimmage.
Their offense this year with Jalen Hertz not at 100% is remarkable.
But I'm impressed with their defense.
that's allowed the fewest big plays in the game.
And Dallas will not be able to run.
Tony Pollard has been insignificant for a month.
60 rushing yards, fewer than that,
in each of the last four games.
They are very one-dimensional with C.D. Lamb, put sleigh on him.
They got a safety now.
This is a bad cowboy red zone offense.
They're a great home favorite, a very mediocre dog.
Eagles win 30, 24 in cover.
Colts said Panthers.
Like it, I love it.
Panthers plus two and a half.
Ah, they gave up the play calling duties.
Frank Reich said no.
You do it, young coordinator.
And the offense looked different.
Bryce Young under control, 71% completion percentage
against Demico Ryan's, a smartly coached defense.
So suddenly Bryce Young is accurate, more comfortable.
Frank can walk around.
with the OC be the OC.
Also, very quietly at the trade deadline.
They did not in Carolina trade Brian Burns.
Good for the locker room.
Colts offense overstated.
Gardner Minshew, I know you all love him.
Owen three since he took over for Anthony Richardson.
He's a turnover machine.
Nine giveaways in three games.
Stop the presses.
Panthers win should be favored.
Win by four.
Fewer mistakes.
Colts are a little bit.
A smoke and mirrors with Gardner Minchu, turnover prone, take the points in the Panthers,
2824.
Bills at Bengals.
Everybody loves the Bengals.
So do I.
Minus 1.5.
First of all, fewer mistakes.
I think they're an ascending football team.
I think the bills are an inconsistent, declining one.
They were 8-0 after October last year, and once again, they're on a heater in October.
Eight takeaways in three games.
They're getting back to Bengals football.
And since week five, Burrow is absolutely insane.
It's like flag football at the high school level, completing 78% of his throws.
The bills only have one win this year against a team currently with a winning record.
That was the Dolphins.
They're not a good road team.
Eight picks this year for Josh Allen.
Only Jimmy Garoppolo has more.
I like the team.
Fewer mistakes.
Better situational football at home.
They'll cover Bengals 28, 23.
Chargers at Jets
I'll take the Jets plus three and a half
I don't trust the Chargers off a big win
I think it's a coaching mismatch
Zach Wilson's not my cup of tea
but here's the thing
Robert Sala has coached the mistakes out of him
zero picks in four the last five games
three game winning streak
for the record they're nine and seven
when Zach Wilson starts with Sala
you didn't know that did you
the defense since week three
sensational
The Chargers are 0 and 3 against winning teams this year.
The offense is now regressing, scored under 20 and 2 of the last three.
Their defense gives up six yards of play.
How?
They're spending all that money on it.
They had two great edge rushers.
They allow huge plays, eight plays of 40-plus yards.
If Zach Wilson doesn't make mistakes and this defense doesn't force you into them,
I'm going to take the Jets, the points, and the upset win.
Brandon Staley, pressure cooker, Tuesday, morning.
morning 2423 upset win jets over the chargers.
As a humble servant to our fans in America, what say you, J. Mack?
Smell that? It smells like 5'0.
Smells really good. The only question I have, definitely not the Frank Reicher Revenge spot.
Love that, is that Eagles Cowboys game. That may be just a walk away. I don't want to have to be
sweating it, watching it and enjoying it. I don't want to be sweating that game.
Okay.
So it was that of the Raven Seahawks and Pete Carroll's such a great underdog coach.
I walked away.
It was the last game I picked.
I do not like taking big emotional games.
But I got to tell you something.
One thing about Philadelphia we know.
Big spots, big games, big fourth downs.
It's like New England's dynasty.
They didn't know us play well.
Big third downs, grand.
Big fourth downs, Brady Sneak.
Big games.
Never mailed it in.
You always got a great up.
There are franchises.
Cincinnati for years was a step-down franchise.
Chargers stepped down in big moments.
The Patriots, the Eagles, they don't always win the big games.
You always get an excellent performance.
Dallas, it's a coin flip, especially on the road.
That's why I decided to go with it.
Eric Mangini, Jets, Browns, Fox Sports Analyst, great to have him on a Friday.
He listens to this every week, and he rolls his eyes at my nonsense.
But I do believe this.
I do think Philadelphia, I think their culture, and you were there with New England,
you guys have a bad Sunday.
You had a couple of year, a bad half.
Belichick would come in on Monday and say, guys, we got out-coached out-played.
But in big spots against the Ravens, Peyton Manning, big spots for Philadelphia,
I do think that's a culture that certain Ravens have done this historically.
I think Philadelphia is a great big moment team.
What is that about?
Yeah, Bill didn't wait until Monday morning to tell us how we felt.
We got that right away in the locker room if we didn't rise up.
Philadelphia, and what we did in New England, we practiced those situations.
It wasn't, we'd call them got to have it situations.
And we wanted guys to feel comfortable in those moments.
And as you get used to winning and as you establishes,
a culture of winning, there's also an expectation that you're going to perform in those moments.
I think the same is true for some organizations where if you've got a history of losing,
when those big moments come up, you're waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And Philly's done a great job of establishing that similar culture, where there's an expectation
that guys are going to perform when they're called upon, and a lot of teams they play,
it's just the opposite.
that guys are, they don't have the confidence that they can do that when it's on the line.
Okay, Raiders tried the Patriot Way West.
It didn't work.
Were you shocked by it?
What do you make of the Patriot Way not working in the South?
Not working in Detroit.
Did not work.
What do you make of that thing what happened with the Raiders?
Yeah, I heard a little bit of your rant on the Patriot Way the other day.
And look, every coach needs a good quarterback to be great.
and Tom was arguably the best that's ever played, but he didn't start as the best that ever played.
There was a development that went into that.
And then when you have a great quarterback, it's what do you do with them?
And Bill and the Patriots and our system was able to excel at a level that hasn't been seen in a long time.
And there's a lot of great coaches who have great quarterbacks that win one Super Bowl or two Super Bowls if they're really good, but they don't win on that same level.
And here's what I'll say. The Patriot Way is about discipline. It's about selflessness. It's about being smart. It's about being hardworking. It's about being accountable. They're all characteristics that to me is truth in sports. And it's not for everybody. And it's hard to do and it's hard to establish. And here's the thing I'll say with owners. But more and more, they want you to cook a turkey, but they want you to cook it in a microwave. And they all say, hey, yeah, I'm in for the long haul.
And the second it gets, there's a little bit of turbulence, the parachutes on.
So I didn't agree with everything Josh did.
There are a lot of things that I wish, you know, he had done differently.
But I do think if you want to build something that's great and can compete year and year out for a championship,
it's going to take more than a year and a half to do it.
And it's not for everybody.
It's just not for everybody.
So I don't know how sustainable it is.
The Steelers have been outgained in every game.
The 34th team in league history would be outgained for eight straight weeks.
Now, they're the only one with the winning record, but they did this at the end with Big Ben.
I think they're doing it with Kenny Pickett.
They're giving the quarterback more credit.
They're winning despite the quarterback.
I mean, do you think this is a sustainable way to beat the Ravens, the Bengals, Miami, Jacksonville?
Do you think it's sustainable?
No, it's incredible.
I really respect what they're doing.
But we're midway through the season.
And almost every statistic, offensively and defensively, they're in the bottom five.
They're in the bottom five.
So it's not like, hey, they got a slow start and they're building up and the averages will work itself out over time.
This is really who they are.
The thing that they're doing really well is the giveaway takeaway ratio.
They're plus eight and giveaway takeaway ratio.
And that's been the difference in games, whether it's the Cleveland Stripzac touchdown,
whether it's the turnover in the Baltimore game, whether it's the turnover.
the turnovers that we saw or the late turnover last night,
that's what's giving them a chance,
but it's hard to count on turnovers as your driving force.
But I'm with you too, Colin.
I think Kenny Pickett should be a lot further ahead than he is now,
and there's a bunch of games where they're hanging on
and figuring out a way to win in spite of his performance
as opposed to because of his performance.
A team in the league that I think has a good roster,
not great but good, and the right components to win, is Washington.
And I even think their young quarterback, Sam Hal, deserves another year.
There's something there.
He deserves it.
I think Ron Rivera is in trouble.
There are rumors circulating around the league that Belichick and Washington.
It may sound far-fetched, but I've seen older coaches.
You know, Jimmy went and took that Miami Dolphins job.
I get it.
You want to live where you want to live.
You want to get out of the circus.
and things are not going.
They don't look terribly fixable quickly in New England.
What do you make of those rumors?
They have a new owner there.
Do you think Bill would even give this a phone call to go to Washington?
Here's why this makes a lot of sense.
And Josh Harris is the new owner.
And when you read quotes from Josh Harris, he said,
some men love golf to relax.
I like to work.
And there's a lot of talk about him as when he was building his business.
where he'd send a guy an email on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
And if he didn't get a return email on 10 minutes, he'd send back a question mark.
He's got that drive, that intensity, that attention to detail, all those things that makes sense to have a Bill Belichick in the building.
And if you're trying to build your organization, who better to go get than someone like Bill, who's got the wealth of experience, who's demanding, whose detail, who's all those characteristics that he looks.
for as a businessman. Now, that's where it makes a lot of sense to me. Where it doesn't make a lot of
sense is Bill's, what, 72 years old? He's not going to want to be sitting in a bunch of staff
meetings with the owner trying to explain, you know, the decisions he's making, why he's doing
thing. That doesn't make sense. What I like is why not bring Bill in as a minority owner,
you know, let him oversee the football operations. Maybe it's not as the head coach, but you bring
him in as some sort of senior position.
I think you could probably
move the needle if you may give him a little bit of
an ownership stake. That'd be
something that I would
imagine would interest
him and then let him
oversee things
moving forward. Okay. Kansas
City, really
wide receiving core, they have to rely
on Kelsey, Andy Reed and defense.
Miami, and
teams evolved during a season. I thought
Miami was a bit of a speed
vote early, not built for the cold weather, but McFangio's, now, it takes five, six, seven weeks.
Jalen Ramsey's coming back. The wind is going to play a part. I think this is going to be,
I think both these teams are going to run the ball more than they usually do. That's my gut feeling,
is it the wind's a factor, and Miami is understanding that this high-flying offense is wonderful,
but you have to be able to grind out yards in November and December. That wins Super Bowls.
So what do you make? Does Miami have a shot against the Chiefs?
Yeah, 100%. It's amazing to me that the most intriguing matchup is Miami's offense against Kansas City's defense.
And not vice versa when you've got Vic Fangio in Miami and you've got Mahomes on the other side of it.
But yeah, it's really how well can Kansas City's defense who's been playing extremely well hold up against Miami's offense as opposed to vice versa?
The other really interesting part of this is how is Patrick going to respond.
It's what his third worst game of his career last week against Denver.
And it's hard.
We expect him to overcome a new coordinator, Eric Bienn and Me leaves.
We expect him to overcome young receivers.
And he's done that to a large degree, but to ask him to do it week in and week out and be Superman, weekend and week out.
it's tough because you're also getting everybody's best shot.
And it's the same thing for Travis Kelsey.
You know, he's had the Taylor Swift bump, which is nice.
But it's a lot to ask of these guys.
And until we see these young receivers, someone step up and provide some consistency.
We're going to see more games like last week than we are, you know,
what we've traditionally expected from Kansas City.
Finally, I like Philadelphia in a big spot.
I also think there's a reality with Dak is that as a favorite at Halmy Rolls,
as an underdog in the road, he doesn't.
I think he's very reliant on C.D. Lamb.
Now, Joe Burrow can be very reliant on Jamar Chase,
and it's why I don't consider the Bengals yet in Baltimore's class,
or maybe Philadelphia's class.
I think A.J. Brown is a part of the Eagles offense.
They're not reliant on it.
I feel the cowboy, Tony Potter's giving him nothing.
I think they're very reliant.
They're not getting much from tight end.
end. They are very dependent on CD Lamb. That worries me going on the road. Do you have similar
concerns about that offense?
Yeah. When you look at Dallas's offense, so they never replaced Zeke's carries.
Nope. They don't have that guy. It's 200 plus carries, plus the 12 touchdowns on the goal line
that he had. So you don't replace that. You've got tight ends that are better receivers than
blockers, and you need at least one of those thick.
run blocking tight ends at the point of attack and they don't really have that and then
that's combined with an offensive line that's actually better at run blocking than they are at
pass blocking so it's like a lot of mixed skill sets that that they can't find a consistent
a consistent flow with and with with with with that he's so much better when you
have a consistent running game and he can build off a play action and
it's not 40 to 50 throws a game, it's, you know, more in the 20, high 20s, low 30s for him.
Yeah.
Otherwise, it becomes a problem.
It's his record plus 40 throws is terrible.
Yeah.
Dallas actually, there's a ton of clarity on Dallas.
Cowboy fans don't want to admit it.
But when Dak throws a lot and they're dependent on him, they lose these games.
And when they're on the road and they have to do that.
They often lose them ugly.
So they're going to need a run game, and Tony Potter hasn't provided that in a month.
And Zeke, I think I'll say this.
I'm not a big trade deadline guy.
I thought Derek Henry to the Cowboys could have solved a lot,
and it was not that expensive.
I think Dallas, I think they missed on it.
I think you're going to see it this weekend.
Just me.
Look, I don't know if they could have got Derek Henry,
but if they could have, that would have gone a long way to help him get where they wanted to get.
Good seeing you, coach.
Eric Mangini.
Thanks, bud.
great senior have a good weekend
all right yeah i mean it the dallas stuff's really clear
they're not getting the tied end production
tony pollard's not running consistently
left tackle's now hurt again
dack's not good as a road dog
this game screams philadelphia now jalen hertz isn't healthy
hasn't been healthy for a year and a half he wasn't healthy even the super
ball he's a guy that can play not 100%
for the record virtually nobody's 100% in this league
even quarterbacks by week five so the whole jaylon
hurts is and the other thing i like about philadelphia
their star receiver AJ Brown,
the offense isn't built around him.
He's just a great number two pitch.
That's when you're great.
Dallas is very dependent on CD Lam.
If you told me CD Lamb four catches, they get blown out.
If you tell me AJ Brown four catches,
I can see Philadelphia winning comfortably.
There's a big difference between the two.
AJ is icing on that great cake.
Right now, CD Lamb is the cake and the icing.
They need them have 13 targets and nine catches and two touchdowns.
Hey, so what does this game mean big picture from McCarthy?
So the Dallas San Francisco game was Sunday night football,
island game, all the eyeballs, Dallas got deep-pantsed.
This is the 425 game, the primary game.
The other games are not good.
Huge ratings.
It's going to have the biggest ratings of the season.
What happens if McCarthy gets blown out here?
Because that's on in play.
We know they've had a history of struggling in big games under McCarthy.
Then Jerry Jones will have to admit, which all of us have been saying for three years.
situationally, this is not an elite offensive coach.
Situationally,
quarterback coach is about 75% of the whole winning recipe.
It really is.
And if Dak's not an A and I don't think he is,
well, then the coach better be an A.
By the way, Dak also didn't get that extension that he was looking for.
He's waiting for it.
He's waiting.
Well, we've got to see it, you know?
San Francisco game was an indictment.
Chargers was a rebound.
Rams, who cares?
I'm looking at the schedule, Colin.
They'd end the season.
Let me hear to this.
Verse Eagles at Buffalo at Miami.
Ooh.
Then Detroit, which is not a layup anymore.
Detroit is not a layup.
They close with Washington.
There'll be an underdog to Detroit.
Layup.
Well, that's at home.
I think they'll be favored at home against Detroit.
But I'm just saying that is a brutal.
And Seattle is their final game in November.
That's a brutal five-game stretch.
Time out.
Time out.
Give me that five-game stretch again.
November 30th, Seattle, then verse Philly at Buffalo at Miami versus Detroit.
How many losses in there?
Three or four?
Well, you could do, it could be three wins.
It could be five losses.
Those are tough games.
So now we're looking at like a 10 and 7.
Now they're going to be fine.
The NFC's a joke in the wild card area.
There'll be a wild card team.
That's going to be one and done.
On the road in the playoffs against Eagles,
maybe San Fram.
I'm not a guy that believes you should solve major issues at the trade deadline.
Derek Henry would have made this a different football team.
When you start to look at this.
If they can't run the football Sunday,
and Pollard hasn't done anything in a month,
If they can't run the football, they're in big trouble.
Who's that on? McCarthy or Jerry?
I'm a deal maker.
Well, then make deals.
You talk to it.
You get bragging about what a deal maker you are.
This is a massive game, man.
Measure twice, cut once.
Oh, that's Ross Perl.
All right, I've got a great parlay for you this weekend.

Now for my parlay pick of the week.
week via Draft King's Sportsbook. Dolphins at the Chiefs, Kansas City overseas minus two and a half.
Andy Reid off a loss. Mahomes off a loss. Kansas City has a much better O-line and defense.
They rebound and I will swallow the two and a half points. Seahawks at the Ravens minus six.
Better quarterback at home, better defense. I like the Ravens here. Ugly win over Arizona.
They're a tough, tough home favorite. I like them here.
here to beat Seattle in cover.
Bingles minus two and a half.
I like them hosting the bills to cover.
I think Cincinnati's defense is more consistent.
Burrow situationally at homes better than Josh Allen on the road.
Three favorites, Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals, I'll take all of them.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.

To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

colin.com. J.Mack with the news.
Oh, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
It's a breaking news in about five minutes. But let's start again with Cowboys Eagles.
America's Game of the Week on Fox Sunday in the afternoon.
Dak Prescott will hope to add to his 8 and 3 career record against Philly.
If you missed yesterday's show, remember we kind of broke down some of his Fugazi numbers.
There's some noise in there.
He knows there will be a very hostile atmosphere in Philly.
I guess you can say having grown up in the SEC.
A lot of different venues and stadiums that just you can fill it,
the time you get near the stadium, eat, sleep, breathe the game of football,
the fans' excitement, the atmosphere, the close games, the energy.
When you walk into the Philadelphia Stadium, it's no different.
It feels like some of those old Saturday nights,
fans are going to get loud.
You've got to make sure your communication is top-notch.
and then yeah
and then it's fun
always getting a win up there
I'll say this
the Eagles defense
I mean Sam Howell went up and down
the field against him twice
so far this season
you ever know
Jerry loves Dak
yeah see what that hat said
it wasn't his own brand
it wasn't an advertiser
Cowboys
Dak always knows
who to sell
never see him with one of his own hats
it's Cowboys
I'm selling that brand
Dak's got Jerry's back
Jerry's got Dax back. Nothing wrong with that at all.
No. Just noticeable to me.
Obviously, the injury reports in the middle of the season are huge.
Tyron Smith is the guy to watch this week.
Did not practice Wednesday or Thursday.
Obviously important on the offensive line.
And Jalen Carter is the guy for the Eagles.
Getting pressure up the middle on Dack.
I don't know.
I have some concerns about that Eagle secondary.
They've been burned in the slot.
Remember they lost Gardner Johnson in the off season.
and, you know, if you were to line up CD Lamb in the slot, he could eat in this lineup.
I just don't know if anybody on the outside scares Philly.
Brandon Cooks, Gallup.
What happened to Michael Gallup?
What happened to him?
What did he ever?
What do you mean?
He was good.
He was in line to make some money before that injury.
A lot of guys are in line to me.
I mean, no, no, he was, come on, man.
He was trending toward being like a top tier number two receiver.
And now he's just.
When?
He went to Colorado.
He went to Colorado State.
I'm talking about his early cowboy days.
He was good, man.
He was fast.
He could go up and get it.
Like, you could trust him on Deep Ball.
No, you really thought he was going to be it.
Not it.
Him.
He was going to get paid, man.
Honestly, I was looking at him as a Jets option heading in a free agency.
Then he got hurt.
That sounds like a Jets option.
All right.
Listen, if you're going to take shots, we're going to move on.
This is the breaking news.
So Deshawn Watson returned to practice this week,
and Kevin Stafansky just announced he's going to start this week against the Cardinals.
Nice to have your billion-dollar quarterback, actually.
play. Missing three of the last four games with a shoulder injury. I was looking to see what this
did to the line. What did it do? Let's see here. Move it up a point. It's at nine. It was eight. I think
it was kind of baked in that he was possibly going to go. Listen, if you're going to bring him back,
you might as well bring him back against his garbage cardinals defense, right? They're not good.
Well, it's a rebuilding team. Yeah. Gannon has put up a good fight. They are starting someone
named Clayton Tune against Deshaun Watson. Yeah, I don't know him. Not seen his early work. I'm not familiar with his work.
Bottom line.
Name that tune.
If the Browns can't get some margin here,
now their defense is going to show up, obviously.
This could be a Miles Garrett like three sack game.
Browns should.
Three.
He'll eat.
He should.
Honestly, I mean, listen, it's funny.
Anytime I put out that I'm heavy on a game,
and then it doesn't work out, people put that out there.
But they never want to mention the wins.
I'm fairly big, invested in the Browns.
I had a feeling Watson would come back.
I don't see a rookie quarterback on the road in the dog pound doing it.
That's why I picked the Saints.
I don't pick blowouts in this show.
Almost all my picks are 28, 23 or something.
When's the last time I picked a blowout, Saints over the Bears?
Like it's one of those where we, after about three games of a kid that played division
new football, everybody's got tape.
Gardner Minchew, everybody's got film, everybody, there's limitations, the turnovers ramp up.
Like, backups can, for a game or two, nobody know.
There you go.
Josh Dobbs this week may, but all of a sudden eventually he's going to make mistakes,
press, not have the arm strength, and you are reduced to a BB gun.
T-bag in Chicago against the Vikings.
You know, he looks solid, right?
Maybe it wasn't Vikings.
Oh, Raiders.
He beat the Raiders.
And then he went to face the Chargers, and I loaded up on the charges.
That was an obvious one, right?
He wasn't going to do anything.
So now you got a rookie Clayton tune on the road?
Come on, against an elite defense.
It should be Browns.
I just hope Watson doesn't vomit all over himself.
I have flashbacks of that Colts first quarter.
He threw basically interception and tried to
throw another one there like, yo, get up out of here, bro.
Final story. Oh, let's go to the NBA.
James Harden made his first official appearance as a clipper during his introductory
press conference today. He's taking some heat for this, folks.
Hart spoke about his situation with the Sixers and what went wrong.
He had a lot to say, Colin. Listen in.
Philly is just, you know, changing my role, knowing I can give more, knowing I can do more.
But if you want to be honest, like being on the leash.
and like me knowing in order for us to get where you want to get to,
I was going to have to be playing my best offensively.
When I'm in a leash, I'm not been just shooting the basketball every time.
I meant like I'm a, like I think the game and I'm a crater on the court.
You know what I mean?
So if I got a voice to where I can, hey, coach, I see this, you know,
what you think about this, then it's like, oh, okay.
Like somebody that trusts me that believes in me that understands me
that I'm just not a, you know, I'm not a system player.
am a system.
Yeah, maybe five years ago.
Not with Embed and Maxie.
I agree. It's fine to talk like that
around your buddies and your bros and your
hanger honors. Saying that a
press conference, I am the system?
That's a lack of awareness.
Like Tyrone Liu and Kauai Leonard and
Paul George are watching that. What do you think
Kauai is saying? Hey,
you're not the system anymore.
LeBron. He's right, though.
LeBron is the system.
There you go. Ty Louie,
he's probably saying, James, you're right.
Four years ago when you were shooting 24 times a game
and scoring 35 points a game, that's fine.
Yeah.
We need you doing what you did in Philly,
10.7 assist leading the league.
That's what we want, setting the table.
Not good vibes based off that.
You're shocking.
This thing's not going to be perfect.
Listen, there's so much I like about the clippers.
I like people in the front office.
I like Ty Lou.
I think Balmer's brilliant and passionate,
but this is trying, I mean, this move,
is all about opening a new arena
and needing headliners.
They got to have a band.
They just can't have a bunch of Terrence mans.
Nothing against Terrence.
I like Terrence, too, by the way.
They didn't give up much for him.
By the way, Joel Embed, we didn't mention it.
But Joel Embedd, what did he say to that?
He kind of raised his eyebrows, like, what?
And then said, you know,
he didn't seem thrilled, so I'm sure Darryl Moore.
He's like, yay, Joel's happy.
Sixers.
So did you see who they started in the back court last night with Tyrese Max?
He was like a couple jokers.
I was like, this thing, this is not it.
How much are the Celtics winning about tonight, by the way?
25, 30?
No.
They're killing.
They're murdering teens up.
We said this two weeks ago.
Boston and Denver are clearly the best two teams in the league right now.
It's not close.
Lakers look good.
No.
Wambiama?
Nope.
No.
J. Mack with the news.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here.
unpack what went down and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black.
black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in
American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
get your podcasts. Sunday on Fox, it's one of the biggest games of the year. Dallas versus
Philly, Dak versus Jalen, and America's Game of the Week. The next chapter in this historic
rivalry kicks off Sunday at 4 Eastern on Fox. One of the reasons I was excited watching Will Levis last
night for the Titans. It looks like we have our next guy. Now, I don't know how great he'll be,
but Big Arm, moves well enough, thick, smart kid, tough. It's like that, you don't have to
convince me like Packer fans are doing with Jordan Love or Steeler fans are doing with Kenny
Pickett or Giant fans are doing with Daniel Jones. That's him. That's it. Big Arm, A plus arm,
seize the field, operates quickly, behind a terrible O line, almost let him do a win. When you have
to start talking about play calling and receiver drops. You don't have the guy. This kid working
against nothing on the road, nothing, almost pulled out a win last night. He's really good.
There's only four games this weekend, to me, that you have to watch. I get paid to watch
all of them, and I will to some degree, but there are four really good games this weekend,
and they're all based on good quarterback play. There's Miami, Kansas City, Seattle, Baltimore,
Dallas, Philadelphia, and Buffalo, Cincinnati.
Those are exciting games where you got eight quarterbacks.
Yeah, I'm going to count Gino and Deck, and that they're two in that.
You got eight quarterbacks who can sling it, who can make plays.
At times, if they have to carry a little bit, they can.
And Jerry, Jerry says, forget about this measuring stick stuff.
This game's about winning.
I've heard someone say, well, this will be a good measuring stick.
This isn't about measuring sticks right here.
there's a time when you have to quit measuring
and just try to go get the wind
because the win itself means so much
the win not the measuring sig
not the makeup so much of how we did it
that happens earlier and that does happen
but man this is what you're supposed to be doing it all for
this is like playoff
all right i like philadelphia so every week when i do my blazing five
i'll take you behind the the curtain a little bit
and j smack knows this i asked my
staff on Thursday night to prepare six games, and then in the morning, I wait the very
latest I can on injuries or instincts, and then I drop one.
Unfortunately, the game I drop, I think I'm like five of my last six.
I swear to God, every time I drop a game, I win it, and the game I put in, I lose.
Whatever, we've still been pretty hot.
So the game I dropped that I really like, I like Baltimore minus five and a half hosting Seattle.
The reason I dropped it is the two best coaches in the NFL as underdogs or Pete Kemp.
Carol and Mike Tomlin.
Defensive guys who rely heavy on emotion,
their teams tend to play almost better as a road dog.
I saw him go to Detroit and win.
Seattle's got away, and Pittsburgh's done this through the years.
They just figure out ways to play over their head when they're an underdog.
They're not always the greatest favorite.
But I really, this is the game I did not pick.
I would have taken Baltimore.
First of all, Lamar Jackson is 16 and 1 against the NFC.
if you've not faced Lamar Jackson in the last calendar year, good luck.
It's very, very hard to prepare for.
I also think their defense has allowed the fewest touchdowns this year.
I think Baltimore is the best team in the league,
but I did watch Pete go into Detroit as a dog and win.
I saw him go outplay Cincinnati lose, but outplay them.
So Seattle just has a way with Pete Carroll and Pittsburgh does with Tomlin.
They play well in these games where you feel a strong tendency to lean the other way.
But Pete Carroll knows what he's in for.
talked about this Ravens team.
I'm so impressed with this team
that we're playing and really the way John has done
a great job of coaching these guys for a bunch
of years. They're just so well
rounded and they're just good in all
phases and so they make you realize
what it's like to play in the championship matchup
whether it's offense and all of the firepower
they have with Lamar and Andrews
or their defense, this is kicking butt.
Special teams they got Tucker.
It's an amazing team we're playing.
Yeah, I think Baltimore is the best team in the league.
So there are tendencies in this league that if you deep dive PFF for numbers,
you see offensive lines are better when you have an offensive coach.
That's no longer disputable.
The best old lines in football right now are Philadelphia offensive coach,
Dallas offensive coach, Detroit offensive coach.
Whatever it is, many of the worst offensive lines are defensive coaches.
The other thing is defensive coaches are often very good as underdog coaches.
Why?
It's not as much about scheme.
It's about emotion.
Mike Tomlin gets you to play hard.
Those speeches.
He looks like a player.
He's very physical.
Huge energy.
Pete Carroll, big energy.
Great speech giver.
So the two guys in this league is underdogs.
Just bet on him.
And so I really should bet Seattle.
If I was a sharp or a wise guy, Seattle's the side.
I just think Baltimore is so good.
and we're so used to just talking about how great Philly is and San Francisco and Kansas City and Buffalo,
and then we get flashy Miami.
We're ignoring what Baltimore is.
Pass rush, takeaways, run game, Lamar, fast, perimeter.
They finally gave Lamar perimeter weapons.
I think this team is fantastic.
Right now, I think they're the best team in the league.
And because if they go to a Super Bowl, you will not have played Lamar, the chances are,
he dominates NFC team.
So their biggest dilemma is getting through the Cincinnati's in the Kansas
cities that have seen a lot of Lamar.
Once he gets to a Super Bowl, it lights out.
Two weeks is not enough.
You've got nobody like him on your roster.
16 and 1 against the NFC.
So I think Baltimore wins again.
Well, the problem is he's got to get out of the AFC first,
and I think he's struggled in the postseason with the Raven since he's been
quarterback.
Let me play pretty good teams.
Let me back up, though.
A few weeks ago, Baltimore was home against Detroit, and they were three-point favorites.
And I loved it. It was one of my bets for the week.
They crushed them. Why are they now laying six against Seattle? Seattle did go to Detroit and win earlier this season. Are we saying that Detroit is that much better than Seattle? This line for you, you're buying Baltimore at the top of the market, right?
That's right. You're paying like a tax because you have the number one in the herd hierarchy. Everybody else thinks they're awesome.
Historically, the wise guy should take Seattle here.
Seattle is the sharp side, but the wise guys are split, and the reason their split is,
is Baltimore significantly better than we're giving them credit for?
They win, and earlier this season, they lost a game to Pittsburgh because of,
and people judged them harshly for it.
They outplayed Pittsburgh.
They had two touchdown drops.
I'm telling you, this team, there's so many things that distract us.
Kansas City's receiver problems, Philadelphia's Tush Push, Miami's Track Me, Dallas Cowboy,
Quietly in small Baltimore, they are, it's like Pete Carroll said,
special teams great, defense great, pass rush great, offense great, run game,
everything they do, coaching. There's no hold on this team. Everybody's got a hole.
Everybody's got even in Philadelphia. They got a little hole. They went and got a safety,
Jalen Hertz. Hell, everybody's got a little hole. I don't think Baltimore has one.
Well, that's the thing. Baltimore's defensive coordinator, the guy who came, I think, from Michigan.
McDonald, people have looked at the numbers, and usually teams play a lot of man or a lot of zone.
He's doing both.
And Gino Smith, we know struggles against man.
He can't throw guys open.
He can find windows.
And there's a scenario where Gino just kind of struggles big time in a big spot here.
You talked about the gap between Zach Wilson and Justin Herbert.
Lamar Jackson and Gino Smith is a colossal gap.
But Gino's shown competence.
Okay, Zach has not shown competence.
Jets right now are overjoyed.
Zach's just not throwing picks.
Well, Gino's throwing picks.
Last year, I think he had no red zone turnovers or interceptions,
and now he's still, I think, two or three already this season.
I just wonder how much Pete trusts him here,
or is they going to lean big on Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker?
Listen, Pete at USC loved liner, but he wanted to run with Reggie and Lendale White.
Pete wanted to run with Marshaun Lynch.
Pete drafted another running back.
He and John Snyder this year when they had a start running back.
Pete's style is, I want to run the ball, throw sparingly, no turnovers,
and get a pass rush.
This team is what Pete likes.
He don't want 42 throw.
That's not who Pete is.
Hour three next.
