This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Thanks for making us part of your day.
J. Mack, Joel Flatt, in a few minutes.
So yesterday was the NFL trade deadline.
Diana Rusini, last hour.
A lot of moving parts.
I just told you I thought everybody in the NFC North Green Bay, Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago all sent a message.
I thought Buffalo went out, did themselves a big solid.
by getting a very good corner.
Rasul Douglas, tough physical kid, played in cold weather,
total effort, every play.
Bit of a cat pit, but they lost a corner.
Very good move by them.
I'm not San Francisco, Philly.
You know, everybody made a move.
Dallas didn't, because Dallas believes their players
are always better than they actually are.
And we were talking this morning that if you put every Dallas player out to the market,
Micah, everybody would bid on him.
C.D. Lamb, a lot would bid on him.
that's it. I mean, again,
Zach Martin's good. Old guard expensive. You draft a guard.
But I mean, that's it. Micah, the whole league would want.
C.D. Lamb, 75% of the league would be interested.
Diggs when he returns from injury?
He's a risk taker. He's coming off an injury, and he's about to be really expensive.
I don't think, I think he would get offers, absolutely.
But Micah is a no doubt about it. C.D. no doubt about it.
But Dallas didn't make a move because it may, it validates.
all their acquisitions.
And that's what Dallas loves to do.
Dallas, we talk about this.
The only team in the league,
all their best players, they drafted.
So it validates, look at us.
We know personnel.
San Francisco, McCaffrey, Trent Williams,
Hargrave, hey, we missed on these guys.
We're going to go get them.
Philadelphia, A.J. Brown, the safety, both their corners.
Hey, we didn't see the greatness.
We're going to go get them.
Dallas, we don't need anybody.
We've got our guys.
I said, they're the dynableness.
that claims they have the world's best coffee.
Nobody believes that, except the people who run the diner.
And that's fine and cute and adorable.
But the Cowboys are at $8 billion business.
Let's get out of the adorable business.
You have to at some point acknowledge who you are.
And so it's interesting.
Chase Young goes to the Niners for a third round pick.
So San Francisco's three-game losing streak is comically overblown.
Seven of the last eight teams they've faced have scored 23 points or fewer.
Kyle Shanahan gets you to 24 points at least most of the time.
So it's overblown.
But if you look at the contenders in front of San Francisco that would concern them,
Philly, Dallas, Detroit, all with better quarterbacks, all with better offensive lines.
In fact, I would argue Philly, Dallas, Detroit have the three best O lines in football.
So what they're saying is, hey, we have Brock Purdy.
He's not Jalen Hertz, probably not back, not Jared Goff, and we don't have those O lines.
So we got to disrupt stuff.
So let's go get Chase Young.
The rep on Chase Young is talented, a bit of a freelancer, a little endomic and Sue rep,
a little bit of a freelancer does his own thing and has been injured.
But you put him from a tire fire of an organization to a gold standard, will he elevate his game?
I think briefly he would.
So he goes from a circus in Washington to a gold standard.
And I think it could be good.
And if it doesn't work, he's a third round pick.
This is the luxury on getting a starting quarterback with the last pick in the draft and a luxury of being a great team.
can take big swings because you've got Trent Williams and McCaffrey and Debo and Iyuk and Kiddell
and you've got Hufunga and Fred Warner.
You've got so many great players that cover your butt on a bad scheme, cover your butt on a bad
play call that you can take a big swing on this.
But I mean, if you look now at San Francisco's defensive roster with Chase Young, he's not
as good as Bosa or Fred Warner or Hufunga or Hargrave.
he's in the Drey Greenlaw Ward at corner class.
So, I mean, that's like eight elite guys.
Eric Armstead, I mean, it's, that defensive front is dudes, and Dallas didn't upgrade.
So good luck for Tony Pollard trying to sneak through those little crevices.
But Albert Breer yesterday on what the 49ers, why they went and got Chase Young.
You're already strong on the defensive line with Nick Bosa and Eric Armstead.
Bosa has been battling double teams, triple teams the entire year.
How do you balance that out?
Well, you have to have a guy on the other side who can make the other team pay for it.
And that's Chase Young.
You know, Chase Young, even though he hasn't lived up to expectations and he's been hurt a bunch,
I mean, physically, if you're going to man him up with one person,
and that person's like an average right tackle, look out.
You know, so I think that it's sort of, it goes back to like the Jerry Reese Giants,
you know, when they kept drafting defensive linemen, and it's like, we'll find a way to get them all on the feet.
and it's going to be a problem for everybody else,
sort of what the Niners are doing here.
All the contenders in the NFC,
except the Cowboys, took a swing,
and I liked all of them.
With that,
controversy hovering around Harbaugh,
Texas Longhorns don't have their starting quarterback.
SC free-falling, Washington.
Joel Clatt, the voice of college football now joins us in the herd.
He's got his podcast, the college football podcast,
Joel Clat Show.
World's Best Cup of Coffee.
Congratulations, everyone.
Nobody believes it except the diner.
That's right.
No, all I can think about is that scene from Elf.
Okay, we've got a lot of things to discuss.
So I want to go back.
The Harbaugh thing is hovering.
Sure.
Raiders now have an opening.
There's different pictures every day of this kid, this staffer.
He's over at Dunkin' Donuts.
Behind the glazed donut section, sneaking a look at Ohio State.
I feel like we're a day away from getting the Connor Stallion's picture on the
grassy knoll. You know, like it's just
where it's incredible? Where are your
sources saying this puppy is at?
It's
in its infancy.
You know, everyone wants this to come to
fruition this year and
I don't think that there's any
chance that anything comes
to fruition this year. Just by
NCAA bylaws in and of themselves,
let's just say for sake of argument
that the NCAA
gave a notice of allegations
to Michigan tomorrow.
All right.
Bylaws say that they've got 90 days to respond.
That's right.
Season's over.
Yeah.
So like everyone's going to like, well, someone's going to have to do something this year.
No one's going to do anything this year.
This season is going to play out.
And now, by the way, you actually get a cleaner back into the season than what you would
if this didn't come out until after the year.
In a lot of ways, it's better that it came out now versus after the season because now
there's no cloud of suspicion over what's going on from what two weeks ago through through the
remainder of the season i know that doesn't make anybody feel better who feels like they've been
that's not our job but that's not my job right exactly so where are we at i still think it's somewhat
in its infancy i think that the public is is more interested in this than than most because of the
parties involved because it's jim harbaugh and nothing's going to happen by the end of this season
and we'll see and by the way i have heard
heard that the extension is back on the table.
I wouldn't be shocked if he signs an extension at Michigan soon.
I'm so happy with that.
I just wouldn't be surprised.
Now, I don't know if you will, but I do know that their leadership is still comfortable with like,
yeah, we still need to lock them up.
They should be.
Yeah.
I'm comfortable with them thumping Ohio State every year.
You comfortable with that in Columbus?
That's what he's doing.
I mean, he has the last two years.
Yeah, two years, two years in a row. Now, as you well know, I aid you in this 15 minute process every week. I stopped by the booth this Saturday.
You did. That was so much fun. It was to aid you, but Gus said get out of here and you didn't weren't interested either. I did stop by the booth.
Yeah. And there we are. There it is. There it is. One of us was drinking cocktails 10 minutes later. It wasn't Joel and Gus. Okay. It was great to see you guys.
That was fun. I appreciate you coming by. Oh, loved it. So, I,
I've watched Oregon Live twice.
Okay.
They make no mistakes.
It's the best Oregon team I've seen.
The Mario-O-to-chip team was more fun.
This team, very few penalties, very few fumbles.
No interceptions.
I watched them and I thought to myself, I say, without a doubt, Michigan, Georgia, and
Oregon are in the playoff.
I don't know if Texas can get through this stuff without their quarterback.
You'll know this weekend.
But your interpretation of what you saw, that is the most complete Oregon team.
Yes.
I have ever seen.
No, I would agree with that.
In 25 years, I've been watching Oregon football.
Okay, so they've been good to great for about 20 years.
Yeah, a lot.
Oregon has had a really good football program for a long time.
None of those teams, even the ones that played for national championships,
you mentioned Marioita, you mentioned the chip team.
None of them have been built like this.
This is the deepest, most physical, longest, fastest, most, fastest, most national.
national championship ready
Oregon team that they've ever had.
And it's not just the way
the roster is constructed. It's also the fact
that their quarterback is making a very
tough position look really easy.
He never throws to the wrong spot.
That's exactly right. Not once again.
He's started, Saturday was his
55th start. So Bowenix has started more
games than anybody in the history of college football
at the quarterback position. And he plays
like it. He makes excellent decisions.
He's firmly in the middle of the
Heisman trophy race. And the thing about it
is it doesn't always look spectacular, but that's part of what's spectacular about it,
is that he's making the very difficult position of quarterback, in particular with the amount of
decisions that they require him to make, and he makes them very quickly, he makes them easily,
and then he makes the throws. The ball is out. It's on time. He puts an immense amount of
pressure on the defense, and he's got more responsibility at the line of scrimmage than most think.
Oregon is without a doubt in the top two teams that I've seen live this year, and I've seen
a lot of them. And this team, I wouldn't want to play them. I would not want to play them. And I
understand that they lost to Washington. I get it. They also outgained them by 100 yards and had a
poor play call at the end on a fourth and three. Talk to their offensive coordinator about it,
by the way. Will Stein. He's a really good young coach. Will Stein, their offensive coordinator,
I asked him point blank. I said, would you rather have punted or called a different play? And he said,
no, no, no, it was all play call. It was all on me. He says, we beat Washington if I'm more
prepared for that moment and rest assured I'm more prepared for that moment moving forward.
I can't wait to get it again. And I'm like, oh, okay. Well, you know what? Oregon's for real.
I think Oregon is one of the three best teams in the country. Absolutely. So do I.
seen them from the end zone. I sat in row three. I wanted to hear boat nicks. We got you good tickets.
We got you good tickets. Fox got me tickets. I mean, I could have gotten them, but the company did.
And so I sat next to Utah fans. And I told them, you guys are going to get boat raced.
Nice to meet you.
And that's what happened.
I was gone by half time.
I bet you they thought, well, what a nice guy.
So, let's talk Ohio State, or as I like to call him, the second best football program in the Midwest.
Wow, they're number one in the country.
I know.
But it doesn't bother me.
They're not the best team.
I think Oregon, Washington both beat them.
I think Michigan beats them.
I think Georgia beat.
Washington doesn't beat Ohio State.
Oh, watch out.
No, no, no, no.
They're going to beat them.
Okay, all right.
Washington shouldn't have beaten Arizona State or Stanford in the last two weeks.
I love the fact that the playoff committee honored what happened on the field for Ohio State.
So am I. You know what? I thought Notre Dame had them beat, but they didn't.
But they didn't. That's exactly right. And Penn State was ugly, but they won.
And this, here's what, think about this for a moment. Bear with me here. Okay. So for three years, Ohio State has tried to have a top five offense.
and a middling defense, and they've tried to win a national championship.
They win a lot of games that way. They won a lot. Don't beat Michigan, Georgia that way.
And even went to the national championship game and went to the playoff and took Georgia to the wire.
Okay. Didn't work. So now all of a sudden, this Ohio State team is built totally different.
They are number two in the country in scoring on one side of the ball and number 38 in the country scoring on the other side of the ball.
It just so happens that this year, it's flipped.
They're the number two scoring defense in the country.
They're very good up front.
Now, they don't get to the quarterback a lot, but it's a lot more due to their philosophy
change and not giving up big plays than it is a lack of production from their
defensive line.
They've got a great elite wide receiver who's the best in the country.
Their run game is coming along and certainly performed well against Wisconsin with
Trayvion Henderson back.
And then they're nursing along a quarterback.
So everything's backwards from the last three years.
And this is all I would say to Ohio State fans.
Wouldn't you want it that way?
Because it didn't work the other way.
And it didn't work for Oklahoma.
It hasn't worked for USC.
It's like you have to have a defense that can get some stops.
But the problem is Michigan has that plus a lottery pick quarterback.
I don't disagree with that.
He loves this guy over here, J. Mack.
I'm a big fan of McCord.
No, I'm not talking about the kid at Michigan.
J.J. McCarthy.
Oh, McCarthy.
I'm sorry.
I was thinking.
Yeah.
No, I think.
So Ohio State's like, yeah, that's great.
We have a good defense.
but now Michigan's got the NFL quarterback.
Yeah, I don't disagree.
I think Michigan's got the better quarterback this year.
I think that they have the better offensive line.
They have the, I think the defensive line is probably a wash.
They probably are better as a whole defensively.
They've got the better run game.
Like Michigan is one of the best teams in the country.
Yes.
They've been the most dominant team in the country.
They've been the most consistent team in the country.
I believe that the playoff committee put them third and not second solely because of the
allegations and the investigation. Well, that scene, how about they haven't played anybody?
Neither is Georgia. Georgia's got the 100th ranked schedule in the country. 100th. Michigan is 111th.
It's like, I mean, are they really that different? Well, they're not. Two and three. I mean,
they put it, didn't put them two and eight. I understand, but they clearly, they, they went with
resume in one area and then they said, okay, well, the eye test is going to serve us for Georgia and
Michigan over Florida State and Washington. Okay, so just think of it from the undefeated's.
You've got these five undefeated. How are we going to rank them? Well, they said, like, what's the best resume, Ohio State? Well, then they didn't go resume for Florida State in Washington because they put them behind Georgia and Michigan. So they said, well, I test with Georgia and Michigan. And yet, within Georgia and Michigan, they didn't use the eye test because the most complete and most dominant team has been Michigan versus Georgia. It's just the inconsistencies from this committee that always drive me crazy.
You worry about the details. I don't. So let's get, I saw something completely different, Joel Kleff, is that you are a man of the,
the people. I, of course, am not. And so, and this is why people resent me and love you.
You're so proud of that. So I'm just, you know, I'll tell you right now. Last night I had an
expensive cocktail and a filet. That's the breaks you didn't. So the point being is when I looked at the
top 12 yesterday, here's what struck me. And I loved it. 11 of 12 by next year, our big 10 or SEC.
clarity, no confusion, no little indie band.
I'm not interested. For my entire life, I've been hearing you tell me how great this team,
this directional school is. And then they go to the playoffs.
Are you saying me or just the royal, just the whatever?
Uncle Colin likes dominance, consolidation, and power and on my television on Saturday.
I want USC Ohio State, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, Georgia,
Oklahoma. Everybody does, the ratings prove it.
but nobody will acknowledge it.
They go out and say, I love the indie band.
I don't.
I like you too.
Okay, so who's the indie band?
The indie band are the Cincinnati's and Boise States,
and I grew up in that territory.
I get it.
I went to a directional school.
But look at your top 12 now.
It is big dogs, and that's who drives the sport.
I love this.
That's always who the top 12 is.
And you're saying what you love what's about to happen next year.
It's two conferences.
I don't mind Clemson.
I don't mind Utah.
If they get in, I'm for it.
But this is the future of the sport.
NIL transfer portal,
$8 million a year coaches,
and that.
I think that we're just scratching the surface
on what this sport is going to be.
If you really,
like, if you really asking me,
like, Joel, what does the sport look like in 20,
or 2030?
And not 2023 or 2025.
I think we're moving towards a breakaway from the NCAA.
Thank goodness.
What an awful organization they are.
And I think,
think that we're moving towards basically just like an NFL light. It's going to be a minor
league football. And a lot of these problems that we have right now will actually be solved
when we get some better leadership involved in the sport. Because right now it's such a silo.
And you're seeing those silos consolidate. And they see the need to consolidate because
apart, they're not going to generate the interest in revenue that they will together.
And so that's what you're seeing is like these consolidation of silos.
Well, the fewer of these that we get, then all of a sudden you've got these two silos that
are going to have all the power in college football, the SEC and the Big Ten.
And they're eventually going to look around and be like, well, yeah, this needs to break off.
We need to go in a different direction and not have 130 FBS schools.
So it's going to be very different.
I don't disagree with you on this.
I think that the schedule and what the viewer is going to get next year, they don't even realize
how great it's going to be
when the Big Ten schedule
comes out.
Even the SEC, like the Big Ten schedule next year is unbelievable.
I've thought about this before.
And I'm going to get to Kansas State at Texas in a second.
That's your game.
And by the way, we called it on the show.
Upset alert with Oklahoma.
We called it.
But I will say this.
I'd say some of this tongue in cheek.
But I think the reality is,
and I've gone to my therapist about this.
People that can't change,
I love to irritate them.
And these people, NIL I'll never watch again.
Transfer Portal, I'm done with Saturday football.
Ratings are up 12%.
Is that people will not be honest about the truth.
Yeah.
You dressed up as Ken and Barbie last night at Halloween, a big brand.
I mean, I didn't.
Well, but what did your son dress up at?
We were dude perfect as a family, huge brand.
It's like the number one internet brand out there.
So my point is,
guys love your stuff.
College football, for years I've been complaining.
Give me more big games.
Not Alabama against Buy and Citadel and roast beef 10.
Yeah, no, I don't disagree with that.
Okay, so you have Kansas State at Texas.
Yeah.
Texas now is Malik Murphy.
They go and backup quarterback.
Yeah, Quinn Ewers has a separated AC joint.
I dealt with this and he won't probably be back.
And so backup quarterback against the defending Big 12 champs.
So let me ask you, Kansas State's got a lot of experience.
Yes.
I called the upset alert last weekend.
This feels like an upset alert.
I don't disagree with that.
And I don't think Kansas, people don't understand how good Kansas State is.
All five linemen returning from a year ago.
Now they're using a little bit of a dual quarterback system with a guy named Avery Johnson,
who's a younger, really fast player and Will Howard.
And Texas has struggled with running quarterbacks during the course of the year.
And every time these teams play, like six the last seven years, it's a four-point game.
Yeah, it's a close game.
That's what Kansas State does to you.
And they don't make mistakes.
And they're really good in the red zone, both offensively,
defensively. Texas is going to have to play really well. If they think that they can just sleepwalk
through this and it's like, oh, it doesn't matter that our backup is in there. This is going to be
a very difficult game for Texas, even at home. And we could be seeing a little of this all shake
out. By the way, OU goes to Oklahoma State and the last bedlam. That's going to be,
Oklahoma State's four and one all of a sudden in the conference. They've got the leading
rusher in the country. There is a plausible scenario where at the end of the day, both Texas and
Oklahoma could be looking up in the Big 12 race and being like, we can't make the Big 12 championship
game. I mean, Oklahoma State wins and Kansas State wins. And all of a sudden you're looking at an
Oklahoma State, Kansas State, or Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Big 12 championship game.
Okay. So last night as I was having a filet, medium rare with broccoli and one cocktail.
With the upper crust of society? Not really.
But the point being, it was brought to my attention by somebody who likes to game.
amble large amounts of money.
Jay Mack, you may like this.
That the Washington USC spread is remarkably close considering the world likes Washington.
Hmm.
And that somebody knows something.
And that this is really the season.
This is the season for USC.
Oh, yeah.
And many suspect somebody who knows this sport, who I lean on and was a couple of cocktails in,
so it's all fuzzy.
But the point was, he said, USC is winning that game.
He goes to Vegas knows it.
People know it.
They're winning that game.
What do you make of that game?
We never circled on our calendar.
USC had to win it or the program's in chaos.
Well, yeah.
Part of the importance of this game is that they have to go to Oregon next week.
You're not winning Oregon.
And so it ramps up the point.
pressure on this game. You know, they are still in the Pact 12 race, by the way. They have,
you know, only one loss in the conference, and that's out there in front of them. And you get the
sense of like, okay, if we're going to be a team that's going to lean on the fact that we have
to go outscore people, then we need to be able to do that regardless. Okay. And now we're going to
see a Washington team that is not strong defensively. And we've got to be better than them
offensively. And this is a Caleb Williams, Michael Pinnock's showdown. It's going to be a
It's going to be a great TV product.
A hundred percent.
And by the way, it's going to remind me a lot from a college perspective, at least.
Remember years ago, a guy that you really hated but has turned out to be a very good player,
when Patrick Mahomes and your boy, remember when your boy Baker and Patrick Mahomes battled Texas Tech in Oklahoma?
That was an epic game.
There's like 1,200 yards of offense in that game.
I think we could be in store for that.
And part of, I think what the pros, yours is kind of the smart money knows about this game,
is that Washington without McMillan at wide receiver.
Now, they still have Polk and Adonze,
but when they don't have all three of those guys,
they're not the same.
They weren't the same against Arizona State.
They certainly weren't the same against Stanford.
And at least even with USC struggling the last couple of weeks,
their offense has still been able to go score points.
Heck, USC just won a game giving up 49 points.
Granted, it was to Cal, but they gave up 49 and one.
I do have this sense that it's like,
you're going to get the kitchen sink from Lincoln Riley on Saturday.
There's no doubt.
They don't have a special teams coach.
Hopefully they can block a kick.
Let me show this picture again.
When you see this picture of Clat, Gus, and me, here's the thing that should jump out to you.
Two broadcast professionals and a guy that looks like he just backpacked Amsterdam.
What in the heck am I wearing?
And I want to tell you something, folks.
These guys, these guys, clat is the most prepared analyst I've ever seen.
you have this labyrinth of stats.
I use a music stand.
I use like a speech stand.
I put the board out there.
And Gus out there is living in his own space.
Oh, I love it.
It's a magical space.
And here comes this hitchhiker who jumps into the booth.
Well, when you walked in, did you realize that both of us just looked back and we were like,
who let, like, who is this?
Security risk.
Yes, exactly.
Gus looked and then he looked back to his notes.
And then he looked back and he kind of looked at me.
And I whispered to him.
I was like, Colin.
And he goes,
Oh, Colin, what's going on?
Anyway, the fans at Utah are amazing.
That view is why that state is remarkable.
You're good.
Your homework is not only admirable and redeemable.
It's awe-inspiring and intimidating.
I got four notes in a yellow marker here.
You're out there like Encyclopedia Britannica.
I walk in there and I'm like, how do we work at the same company?
You're good, buddy.
World's best cup of coffee, everybody.
Congratulations.
I loved it that.
That was so good.
And right.
That was right on, by the way, what you said.
Dallas is the world's best cup of coffee.
It is.

All right, I've got a great parlay for you this weekend.
Thanks to Draft King Sportsbook.

Now for my parlay pick of the week via Draft King Sportsbook.
Dolphins at the Chiefs, Kansas City,
overseas minus two and a half.
Andy Reid off a loss. Mahomes off a loss.
Kansas City has a much better O-line and defense.
They rebound and I will swallow the two and a half points.
Seahawks at the Ravens minus six.
Better quarterback at home, better defense.
I like the Ravens here.
Ugly win over Arizona.
They're a tough, tough home favorite.
I like them here to beat Seattle in cover.
Bingles minus two and a half.
I like them hosting the bills to cover.
I think Cincinnati's defense is more consistent.
Burroughs situationally at homes better than Josh Allen on the road.
Three favorites, Chiefs, Ravens, Bengals, I'll take all of them.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, CliverTaylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.

Do you remember when Diana Ross
double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84's big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack,
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Still October, holidays are coming fast.
I want to remind you again, simply safecollan.com.
40% on a new system with their fast protect plan.
J-Mac patiently putting up with my nonsense is here with the news.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Cowboys Eagles, I don't know if you heard.
They're playing this Sunday on Fox.
Very exciting.
Jerry Jones set the tone for the matchup with this cuss word.
Wait for it.
That we're dealing with up here Sunday, man.
We've got to really have our game face on.
And Philadelphia is a tough place to get your momentum going.
But it's all there.
and to me this is all about just what the NFL could be.
It's going to be big.
I cannot wait for it.
And the ratings have been good in the NFL, but this is.
And you know, it's funny, we've watched the Cowboys this year.
Dominating win over a rebuilding team crushed.
Dominating win, disappointment.
Dominating win, uh-oh.
Is it an uh-oh moment for the Cowboys?
I tend to think they'll play close.
They'll lose, but they'll play close.
Are you on Eagles 3?
I'm not really.
You know, I've tried to stay away.
I've told you this before.
hate big favorites, and I try to avoid the big TV games because I think emotion plays a role,
and I try to find boring one o'clock games where the crowd's not as big a factor, you know,
TV lights. I think it's a stayaway game for me, but I do think Philadelphia is the better overall
roster and just got better at safety by making a move at the deadline. It's a Sunday night
game, well, Sunday afternoon game. Here's the thing about being in that 4 o'clock window,
East Coast, 1 o'clock out here. There's only three games, because remember,
Chiefs Dolphins is in the morning.
There's only three games.
The other two games are Vegas Giants, Aiden O'Connell, probably against Daniel Jones,
and then Indy Carolina.
So it's going to be all eyes on Dallas, Philly.
Like every play is going to be broken down in granular fashion.
I think you'll have some money on this one, ultimately, right?
You've got to have some skin in the game.
Well, it's, this is a very interesting year.
Last week, the best quarterback won every game except the Mahomes,
Russell Wilson game.
Just because that happened last week doesn't mean it's going to duplicate itself.
I think, okay, in my life, I predict playoff teams.
This year is the closest I've ever been halfway through the season.
So 11 of 14 teams I have and two of the three that aren't in it are close.
All right, why?
Am I suddenly get smarter at football?
The league is getting more predictable.
Well, the better quarterbacks in this league now are winning divisions.
macro levels never been easier to protect.
And I think after my first week, the first couple weeks,
I've just gone, I've tried to find the matchups.
This past week I was two, one and two.
I try to find the matchups where I get the better quarterback.
And I look at the games this weekend.
I've never liked all the favorites.
I do.
And it's why I like Philly because I think I get a slightly better quarterback at home.
The spread, of course, like picking teams and playoffs.
That's easier than betting against the spread.
You know, the three is the great equalizer here.
What do you think?
I'm leaning Dallas, but I hate going against Philly.
One of the best bets in the league this season is Eagles' first half.
Like Jalen Hurts, the game plan, they come out, and it's just unstoppable.
But full game, I don't know.
I mean, I'm probably getting sucked into Dallas because of what happened last week,
and I shouldn't.
Late afternoon game in Philadelphia.
I haven't checked the weather.
I'm not on that game yet.
That crowd's at least worth a couple points.
Okay.
If you say so.
Next up, Jags.
they've won five straight. You love this team.
Heading into their byweek six and two, tied with the chiefs,
Ravens, and Dolphins atop the AFC.
Trevor Lawrence is keeping a cool head and had this to say
when asked if Jacksonville should be considered a Super Bowl contender.
It means that we still got more to work for.
You know, we're not the best team in the league.
So we still got more out there for us.
That's all we know.
And honestly, it means nothing.
It means what we've had a great start of the season.
We're in a really good position going forward.
But we got a lot of big games ahead of us after this buy.
of really good teams too. So we're just getting started and we know that we know what's in front
of us. So we can't look too far ahead and think we've done anything. He's such a mature kid.
Always says the right stuff. Out of the by hosting San Fran. Then they get a couple wins. But then it's
Bengals, Browns, Ravens. That's a tough stretch. Well, in the AFC, they're all tough stretches.
It's the SEC for football. They're all tough stretches. You don't get six weeks. You don't get
four straight easy weeks. This is the reality of the AFC. NFC.
a whole different ball game. Look at the Viking schedule
for the next month. It's a lot
of Taylor Heinekees. The interesting thing
is, you know, like January football,
tough to win in Cincinnati and Buffalo.
You have to go to Jacksonville or Miami. It's a different story.
There's no intimidation factor in those stadiums where it's like
70 degrees in January on the weekend.
I don't think they have much of a home field advantage of.
Final story, NBA last night, Colin. Not a lot of action
on the hardwood. Crazy. I didn't see this. I saw
the YouTube highlights this morning. So here's the end
of the game if you're watching. One B with the dunk
and then an inexplicable brain fart by Kevin Durant, who, I don't know,
guess he's trying to get the foul or run out the clock, and he gets stripped by Kelden Johnson,
who goes in for the layup, and the Spurs shock, shock the Sons.
Look at Kevin Durant is just stupefied.
Why didn't he call it a timeout?
There's a clean steel right here by Kelton Johnson.
How about Wembe?
Four blocks.
Dude, so Wemnih Mianmas just.
He's going to be, is he in the running this year?
Do you think by the end of the year for defensive player of the year?
I told you that was the bet to make before the season.
He's everywhere defensively.
And offensively, you know, he's not really hitting his threes lately.
He's been a little bit of a struggle.
But this is the second game in the fourth quarter.
They've, like, leaned on him.
Okay?
Nine, two, and two in the fourth, 80% shooting.
This guy's really good, man.
He's going to be, you know, we talk about the future of the league.
Like, Durant's getting up there in age.
LeBron's getting up there.
Curry.
Wembe Nyama's going to be the guy for the next decade.
The spurs are in great shape.
And by the way, I've said this.
look at the faces of the league in recent years.
Wemby's a good kid.
And that matters.
Steph Curry, good guy.
The stars in the NBA.
You know, the NBA's always, you know,
because I think it's the money in the shoes and the load management.
But you get really lucky when you're the NFL.
When your go-to guys are Trevor Lawrence, Mahomes, Joe Burrow,
you're really lucky in the NBA when your next decade is going to be dominated by this kid.
And Luca Donchitz.
We've got to add him to this.
Well, he's got a little.
fiery attitude, but I think this kid will be the face of the league.
Over Yokic? That's a joke. Come on.
But by the way, Yokic, Janice, Wemby. If I told you,
by the, if I said right now, the four best players in the league over the next decade
are Yonis, Wembe, Luca, and Yokic, all international players.
None played a second of college basketball.
Yeah.
And you love college basketball, but folks, what I just said is probably almost guaranteed
to be true. What American could even crack that?
Zion Williamson? I don't know.
And why...
Not John Moran.
The international players come in hungry.
They don't want to move off teams.
Fundamentally sound.
Fundamentally sound.
Play against older players earlier.
Team players. They're good passers.
Yokic, great passer.
Luca.
Double-digit assist.
I think the AAU
life hurts our American.
I think AAU basketball is more for parents and bragging than it develops players.
Yeah.
Over under two and a half championships for
Benyama.
Over.
Wow, that was a confident.
Well, he's got the coach and the structure.
Well, Pop is not going to be there forever.
He's like 70-something.
Have you noticed Pete Carroll?
We've got to change the way we look at age.
I'm dead serious.
Is that an agist comment by me?
Well, no, no.
I don't.
What are there?
Agist?
I do think my whole life I looked at 70,
and I'm watching Pop,
and I'm watching Pete Carroll.
And I'm like,
then Scully was doing play-by-play
like in his 80s.
Well, wait a second.
Play-by-play is not coaching on the sideline
and getting your team all.
all fired up.
You think play-by-play's easy?
So Popovich is 74, 75 in January.
Fiery as heck.
He carols out there, Sabin's 70.
I'm telling you, you don't get, to me, you don't get, how old's our president?
I mean, well, I'm just saying, it used to be, I looked at 70.
He's not going to be coaching in the NBA.
I think he is.
No.
80 years old, you think he's flying on a plate?
How old's Hughie Brown, he's still calling games.
And he's great.
I think, you know, you young Sparky's look at seven.
You look at seven as the, whoa, like we're all sitting on the porch, eating pudding.
I think 70 is the new 55.
Nutrition's better.
People just, nutrition's better.
There's better medications.
Yeah, people aren't smoking cigarettes every day and knocking back whiskey.
They're drinking wine.
Hubey Brown is 90 and still not only lucid, excellent on the air.
90.
I tell people this all the time.
You better get used to me.
I'm doing this till I'm 88.
By the way, would you ever want to call,
announce an NBA game, like on TV?
Is that something that I ever would appeal to you?
Because you did call baseball?
That was a baseball play-by-play guy.
Play-by-play is exhausting and I don't like travel.
But what if Fox came and said,
you know what, we're going to throw McIntyre and Cowherd
on this Pac-12 basketball game just for like schick?
And I'd say why?
Why would I do that?
Well, probably because McIntyre would enjoy it and like he's a good teammate.
Well, then find a new partner.
Oh, God.
You and clack.
You are cold blood.
How many drinks did you have?
last night. It's like your third dig-at-me. We're only an hour, too. Damn. Is it the mustache? Do I need
to get rid of it? What's going on here, bro? I'm just in a mood today. Clearly. You got
Halloween sugar through your veins. I do. I've been guzzling candy the whole stuff. I know.
J-Mac with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.

Hey, we're Kavino and Rich. Fox Sports Radio every day, 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern.
But here's the thing. We never have enough time to get to everything we want to get to.
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called Overpromised.
You see, we're having so much fun in our two-hour show. We never get to everything.
Honestly, because this guy is over-promising things we never have time for.
Yeah, you blubber lips.
Blame in me.
Well, you know what?
overpromise. You should be good at it because you've been over-promising women for years.
Well, it's a Kavino and Rich After Show, and we want you to be a part of it.
We're going to be talking sports, of course, but we're also going to talk life and relationships.
And if Rich and I are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time, it will continue on our after show called Over-Promised.
Well, if you don't get enough, Kavino and Rich, make sure you check out Over-Promise and also uncensored, by the way.
So maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's going to be the best after-show podcast of all time.
There you go.
Over-promising.
And remember, you could see it.
See it on YouTube, but definitely join us.

The Rangers put their offense on display, jumping out to a 10-0 late in game four last night.
Despite a late rally from the Diamondbacks, the Rangers held on for the 11-7 win.
I watched that.
Arizona had a little comeback late in it.
Yeah, 3-1 series lead.
Tonight on Fox, the World Series continues with Game 5.
Rangers, one win away from their first championship in franchise history.
Corey Seeger.
Coverage begins at 7 Eastern 4 Pacific on Fox.
Yeah, I mean, we didn't expect these two.
Texas was good for a long time and had a bunch of hitters, and this team comes from nowhere.
Corey Seeger, boom, they're blowing people out.
Former Dodger, Corey Segar, right?
Yep, so maybe MVP.
So, you know, they're very good team.
By the way, Lakers Clippers tonight, I got to tell you,
So what I do with the NBA is this is for me, I watch a lot of college football on Saturday.
I've gone to a few games.
I watch a lot of NFL.
And then I try to sneak in half of NBA games.
So at 435, I'll get in the treadmill.
I'll watch a half of an Eastern game.
And then at night I'll try to watch half of a West Coast game.
I don't see the ending to a lot of West Coast NBA games.
I go to bed by 9.30 or something, you know.
And tonight, Lakers Clippers, I think I'll probably stay up and watch the end of it.
And my takeaway is, I think, you know, there's always about six teams in the NBA, I think, have a chance to win the championship.
Boy, do I think Boston and Denver look like a notch above everybody else.
I really do.
Milwaukee's good.
I'm interested to watch Philadelphia now with all these pieces and better chemistry, and they'll make a move at the trade deadline.
Lakers are interesting.
Clippers are a bit of a circus, but Cardin won't play tonight.
It'll be fun.
I think the Warriors are very interesting.
I don't think they're great, but I think they're really interesting.
But I've got to tell you, Boston and Denver, they kind of remind me of each other,
where you've got four really good players.
And the four, whether it's Aaron, Gordon, Michael, Porter, or Porzingas, or Drew Holiday,
the four on any given half can dominate and take over a game.
So I think we've got two real favorites, and the players are in their prime.
and are we going to go in a little nugget Celtics run here?
But I got to tell you, that Porzingus move, everybody just, yeah, it's Porzingus.
Tatum, Brown, Holiday Porzingus, we're going to look back at that thing at the end of this year and go, yeah, when you're 4 can drop 30, that is a big time team.
If Michael Porter's been like a prodigy in high school and college, and Porter's not my favorite player.
I like the other three guys there, but he's talented.
So tonight we get Lakers Clippers.
I'm going to watch that puppy.
I said this yesterday.
I always were in big markets, the New Yorks.
I don't think it's a coincidence.
There's so many bad teams in Chicago and New York right now.
Washington.
When you get into these big wealthy markets, the owners,
there's so much money to be made that winning sometimes becomes secondary to business.
And I think Harden, giving up draft picks, players, expiring,
contracts for Hardin feels like to me, Steve Balmer is worried about opening his arena next year
in Los Angeles and he wants star power. I could not believe how many people thought Hardin
and the Clippers won that deal. Where has Hardin worked in his last three stops? Who is he worked
with? Now, it'll be interesting. They'll have great halves. They'll have interesting nights.
But this whole league is about getting stars. Philadelphia has got the best player of the two teams.
getting ascending stars.
Philadelphia has got the best ascending star maxi.
Cap space, Philly will have it at the trade deadline,
expiring contracts, and number first round picks.
Philadelphia got everything.
Clippers got none of that.
Clippers have stars that are divas.
Don't play well with others.
Pass their prime and expensive.
The Sixers have the best player, the best young player,
draft picks, expiring contracts,
and cap space at the deadline.
I don't understand all these Clippers won the deal opinions.
Now, again, I think there'll be moments that the Clippers will look fantastic,
and I think because the guys the Sixers got, you know, they're role players.
And it takes a while for role player.
A star can get his points.
Hardin could score 30 his first game of the Clippers.
The role players for the Sixers are going to take time to get ingratiated into the system.
But I think Philadelphia over the course of the season, it makes me like Philadelphia more.
and it makes me think the clippers are more of a circus than ever.
But yet the overwhelming feeling among NBA scribes,
Clippers won the deal.
It felt like a business move to me.
I understand.
It was like I'm on the exact opposite of everybody.
Could be wrong.
So one team added an all-star, an all-NBA player,
a guy who led the league and assists,
and the other added expiring contracts and future draft picks.
Which team got better?
The latter.
Better chemistry.
Better room, hour three.
