Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast. For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Starting point is 00:01:17 With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcasts. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRedia.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Now let's get this party started. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hi, feeling it. Hour 2 of the herd. Oh, you got your coffee now. I'm feeling great. There he is. Big Baby Davis, everybody. Rich Davis.
Starting point is 00:02:11 What's up, man? Big sports baby. Crying he didn't have his coffee. Kavino and Rich. It's a big day. Get to fill in for the herd. C&R show, in for Colin. On the herd.
Starting point is 00:02:22 What's up? Keita. Geonda. To the Fox Sports Radio Nation. to the people that hang with us on the daily and to all the new people. We appreciate you. Hit us up at Covino and Rich.
Starting point is 00:02:36 Now, later this hour, Rich, old school when 50 hits. We're going to go old school. We're going to talk Bob Barker a little bit. What was he doing in his final week? And it might surprise you. So we'll get to that. Aaron Rogers, we'll go over some NFL week one.
Starting point is 00:02:51 A lot to look forward to. And how is finding a wife? Danticle. Name the movie. You know this. My cousin Vinnie. Any other brain busters? That's Billy Madison.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Yes. How is finding a wife identical to finding a franchise quarterback? The parallels are like abnormally similar. And just even your mindset. Thank you again for hanging out. Danny G is on the ones and twos. He's on the phones as well. 818-907-0-062.
Starting point is 00:03:25 So a different number today. 818-907-0-062. and you can play along at home. For those of you keeping score at home. New number. By the way, if someone has a new number, are you assuming they don't pay their bills? Or they deal drugs or something.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Yeah. Something happened. They're dealing some weird stuff. Who's this? Oh, I had to change my number. Ryan, how long have you had the same number? I think like 15, 16 years now. Yeah, you're a normal human.
Starting point is 00:03:51 I hope I'm not offending people, which I'm sure I am. I don't care. I've had multiple burner phones. No. You know, the truth is, if you have that one friend that every year is like, yeah, dude, I got a new number, put this in. After a while, you're allowed one switch for me.
Starting point is 00:04:09 One switch. For a lifetime? If you've hit me a second time to change your number in my phone, you're just deleting him all together. I think our friendships on the rocks. Hey man, you need to update my number. No, I don't. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Nope. But for today and tomorrow, because we're here tomorrow as well, 818-907-0-602 or hit us up at Covino. and Rich. Steve Kavino, Rich Davis, spot on the videos at Kavino and Rich, and Ryan hanging out with your herd line news. But thank you guys for hanging with us. We appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Now, Jesse Palmer, like I said, he hosts The Bachelor. I do want to say this. Before we talk about Tom Brady and what he said about him, being one of the greatest bachelor options, and by the way, would that make you watch? Well, then, we're going to get into it. Are you going to watch this old guy, Gary, this new show, this new spin they're putting on there.
Starting point is 00:05:00 I am. I 100% am watching. This guy is 72. He looks young and they unveiled the 20-something women that are trying to get with Gary. And it's aspirational. All these women that are 60 or 70, if your wife or girlfriend look like that. There's some women that are like 75 years old on this show. There's a couple that you, I'll tell you off the air, because he knows like, I would.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Why would you say that? because you told me. We're on the radio, man. Trying to embarrass me like that. But, yeah, I don't know if you even know the concept. The N.EG. Ryan, have you seen the ads for the golden bachelor? Super old guy. Well, not that.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Yeah, I've seen it. I can't say I will watch it. But it's sort of inspiring because you're like, you're not coming over for the bachelor party? You know what? One of the contestants was in a motorized scooter, which was kind of weird. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. I'll tell you.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Hey, is there an older athlete that you would, tune in to see if he was the next golden bachelor. Joe Namath. Oh, hey. I don't care about the old lady struggling. Yeah, I want to kiss you. I'm going to hand out roses. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:06:10 He comes there with his fur jacket. Oh, man. You know what? That's the number one answer, I think. So, first of all, yes, I think a lot of people are going to watch. I'm struggling to decide. What's interesting to me is that the bachelor. And again, we'll get to NFL and stuff.
Starting point is 00:06:26 So keep your chonies on. Hey, take them off. Thursday's the new Friday. Let's go. Yeah, take off your... We're going to party. This is fun time. Super fun time day.
Starting point is 00:06:35 And for Colin on the herd, CNR, Kavino and Rich. Usually the Bachelor is 20-something-year-old hotties that are all getting trashed on cheap chardonnay and they're wearing little skirts or where their booties hanging out. These are classy 60-70 old women? Are they going to be getting drunk? We don't know yet. Are they going to be doing fantasy dates where they're doing all? overnight dates where, you know, Gary has to pop a couple pills an hour or so at
Starting point is 00:07:02 time. The one difference is I think they are, most of these older Mother Hubbard's, are looking for love. No one's getting pregnant, I'll tell you that. Yeah, they're not looking for like online clout or celebrity the way somebody's other younger women are. They're not trying to get Instagram followers? Right. I think so that's the difference. They might be
Starting point is 00:07:18 there for the actual right reason. So that's a whole other show. I think Joe Namath would be a great option for next season of the Golden Bachelor. But to reset what we're talking about, Ron, if you can play Jesse Palmer talking about Tom Brady. Do you think Tom Brady would be a great bachelor? He'd be legendary, and that's another one that would be great because you could use all of his
Starting point is 00:07:37 houses. I mean, we literally could go international. We know he's in L.A. He's driving his Rolls-Royce SUV around. He's got a compound he's building in Miami. I'm sure the guy has a place in Kahn somewhere. That just sounds like exotic dates overnights for me right away. So again, very budget friendly.
Starting point is 00:07:55 Tom Brady would be good. there is the Irene Shaikh issue. But if she's willing to kind of just chill out, you know, just for a couple months of filming, I think we're solid. I think that would be the number one answer. So I think Jesse Palmer nailed it there.
Starting point is 00:08:09 He was sort of given that answer and he elaborated. But no bigger name to be involved if that were the option. But the question we're asking you, I mean, if you can think of a better option, like if you just want to see like Antonio Brown be the guy, that's fine. You know, let us know who you think. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:08:26 overnight dates on day one. Keep your hands off her. No, listen, we've done reality shows with athletes in the past. Do you remember catching Kelsey? Yes. We talked to the Kelsey parents at Radio Row Super Bowl Week. Well, we talked to Kelsey when it was on. And we talked to him when it was on. And
Starting point is 00:08:41 listen, that was sort of a flop. Even though Kelsey's one of the most charismatic guys, do you remember Ochosinko had a dating show? Yes. I think the young guys take him out the mix. The question we're asking here, on the herd, in for Colin. If Tom Brady was the Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Would the guy that usually says, The Bachelor, no thanks. F, that show. I'm not watching that trash. Would you watch The Bachelor if Tom Brady was the guy? Ryan, you seem like a guy that doesn't watch the Bachelor. I do not watch The Bachelor. Thankfully, my wife does not watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:09:15 If Tom Brady was on it, I would watch. See? I would definitely give it a chance. If Tom Brady was on Van Derpump Rules, would you want. I don't know if I would. No, I don't think I could do that. Honestly, if Tom Brady was on just about anything at this point, I'd probably watch. You'd get my buy-in. But hold on, though. Have you seen 80 for Brady?
Starting point is 00:09:31 Because I haven't. Actually, that's a very fair point. No. Right? That was a silly movie. Yeah, but if we're thinking, well, hey, Tom Brady would get us to watch, he didn't get me to watch that. But he also wasn't like a main character in that one.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Yeah. Okay. Yeah, you're a huge Lily Tomlin fan? Yeah, not really. So let me ask you. You get Tom Brady to do the Bachelor, which he wouldn't do. But if he did, I think the ratings would be crazy. You never know. As Ted DiBiase said, Rich, everybody's got a price.
Starting point is 00:10:00 I mean, look at all the NFL money he made and the money that's waiting for him at Fox Sports. I don't think Tom Brady needs to go hang out. You don't think ABC got some real money? You never know. I mean, Tom Brady needs no more money. Tom Brady's, we've seen a different, charming, funnier, more entertaining side later in his career. So, I mean, I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm saying everybody has a price.
Starting point is 00:10:25 You never know. I doubt it'll happen too. So let me go over the layers of this. He would be the best answer. And you can hit us up at Covino and Rich in for Colin on the herd. If Tom Brady were the Bachelor, A, would you watch? I think guys that crap on The Bachelor all the time,
Starting point is 00:10:39 we watch. The moment we bring up The Bachelor, guys, we've been doing radio a long time, and we have a lot of loyal listeners. The minute we bring up The Bachelor, people are like, oh, not like they're allergic to it. Like, they're dying at the thought of it, the sound of it.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Sometimes you bring up The Bachelor. Guys act like you kicked him in the nuts. Right. Oh, no. My day is ruined. I'm just saying if Tom Brady was the Bachelor, I think it would be by far the highest ratings ever. I think guys who, listen, we're watching Hard Knocks.
Starting point is 00:11:09 What's Hard Knocks? It's a reality show about athletes. Tom Brady trying to find love after a big huge breakup of Giselle. If you think you're intrigued by Hard Knocks, you would absolutely watch. You know why you don't watch a Bachelor? Because you don't care about, you know, some dude Pete who's a part. pilot or John who, I'm an accountant, I'm trying to find love. Who cares?
Starting point is 00:11:29 Yeah, you have no connection to that guy. You know Tom Brady. You know about his life. You know about his career. Even if you hate the guy, you're a Tom Brady hater. You might be intrigued to check it out. It would bring a whole new audience to that show, for sure. That's the number one answer.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Would it get you to watch? Think about that. I would watch. I would watch too. Danny G., would you watch? I mean, you already, Danny G., you already watched some weird reality anyway. Well, I think the runner-up would be the Raiders' news.
Starting point is 00:11:55 quarterback. Let me tell you, Jimmy Garoppolo. I'm a Niners guy. I still love Jimmy G. I said yesterday, you both need to stop a low, because I know where this is going. Rich said the other day, I quote, can I tell you Rich's hot take the other day on our regular show? Listen, this is my hot
Starting point is 00:12:11 take, and you can judge me forever on this, but if you didn't notice it, then you're just damn blind. All right, let me try to reiterate what you said, and you could elaborate. Again, it's the CNR show, in for Colin on the herd. Now, if you listen to us normally, five to seven Eastern,
Starting point is 00:12:26 Rich said he had the hottest take of all time. No, literally. I'm going to walk out again. Literally, this was, because it's so hot. Jimmy G.'s so hot right now. He's like Hansel. And he's so handsome. So damn handsome
Starting point is 00:12:43 that his salt and pepper gray in his hair and his beard are sort of like matching with the uniform now. So it's just a perfect fit all together. If women... I'm just saying, you got to be. lie in if you haven't noticed. Dude, it's women, if they did not already love Jimmy G, the salt and pepper
Starting point is 00:13:01 and the hair matches the silver and black Raiders. He's becoming a Raider. Dude, he earned his Raider colors. His raider colors are shining through. I just think it looks matching. Sort of like remember when Andy Dalton just sort of his orange hair matched the Bengals? Hey, you know what though? That
Starting point is 00:13:19 is even more of a possibility. You have to realize, yes, Tom Brady's going to be a broadcaster. We know all that. And probably above this. Jimmy G. Let's say he has three more good years, right, Danny G? That's generous, yeah. Yeah, let's just say. You don't think that would be the number two answer on the board?
Starting point is 00:13:35 I'd want to see what this guy's doing. That'd be fun. That's a great answer, too. I'll tell you why. Jimmy G. Super handsome. They better step the game up with the contestants, too. NFL, champion, super handsome. He better have the most elite women there lined up. I'll give you the reason why. And just so you know, coming up, we are going to talk about
Starting point is 00:13:53 franchise quarterbacks, Aaron Any updates on Nick Bosa? Should the Niners and fans be panicking? We'll get to that. But I'll tell you why an NFL quarterback would not be The Bachelor. When you are an NFL quarterback, that job comes with a lot of money, comes with a lot of cloud. You know how your job may come with stock options? That job comes with ass options.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Booty options. You don't need The Bachelor. You might say a fantasy for a regular guy would be 20-something women fighting over you. that's the daily life of an NFL quarterback. So they don't need to go on ABC Monday nights to have women wanting them. Yeah, I agree with you, but never know. You never know. You never know.
Starting point is 00:14:38 So what it gets you to watch? Think about it. Put it in your Thursday morning pipe and smoke on it later. Nice. All right, well, we got more. CNN, in for The Herd. Collins off today. One more herd?
Starting point is 00:14:51 The herd streams 24 hours a day. seven days a week within the iHeart radio app search heard to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like imagine an olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged it's the enhanced games some call it grotesque others say it's unleashing human potential either way the podcast's superhuman documented it all embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year within probably ten days i'd put on ten pounds i was having trouble stopping the muscle growth Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:15:31 A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Clivert Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
Starting point is 00:16:08 The Cliverts Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me, or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need. to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at a podcast. I'm Sam J.
Starting point is 00:16:47 And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here. unpack what went down and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
Starting point is 00:17:11 We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. People. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You're so gangston, bro. I know. That's Rich Davis. What up. Kavino and Rich. The Kvino and Rich show in for Colin on the herd.
Starting point is 00:17:41 You heard? And Colin's backup storage room B studio. That's what it feels like. There's nothing sumptuous about this studio. I mean, Collins, you know, he's the face of the network. I'm just kidding. He's gone FS1. He's got the studio. So when they said you can fill in for Colin, I'm like, sweet, we're going to be on TV in that sweet studio. Yeah, I did my hair and makeup.
Starting point is 00:18:02 I know. I wore a sweet Muhammad Ali t-shirt for nothing. Anyway, thank you guys for hanging out with us now. If you like what we do, if you love Colin, hey, we love Colin. Good dude. But if you like what we do, please check us out. We're normally on from 2 to 4 on the west side. 5 to 7 on the East Coast.
Starting point is 00:18:20 But when he asks us to fill in and do our thing, absolutely. Let's go. So we hope you're having a great Thursday. Please check us out at Covino Enrich. Check out our podcast and our new podcast, Overpromised. Which you could also watch on the Fox Sports Radio YouTube page. We have a new episode that debuted yesterday. But how do you own the day in sports?
Starting point is 00:18:41 You make incredible plays. But how do you own the rest of the day with Irish Spring? When the spring hits you, you're ready to own the day. So look for the Irish Spring at your local. retailer today. Now, later this hour, Rich, in just about a half hour from now, we do it every Thursday on a regular show. Old school when 50 hits. Oh, we're going to talk some Bob Barker. What was he doing in his final days? You'd be sort of shocked, I think. Old school, when the clock hits 50, we throw it back, and we want you to be a part of it. Again, the number, the new number
Starting point is 00:19:15 we're using today is 818-907-00-62, 818-907.007.007.000. and at Covino and Rich where we're getting a lot of feedback. A lot of great feedback. So shout out to Jim 187. He said, yeah, loves what we're doing. Refreshing. Just saying, thanks. It's the Irish Spring.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Thank you. Smell good. Let's see. Hard knocks, guys, is real. These stupid love shows are not, period. That's from We Should Talk. Or is it? Tell that guy to keep his choney's on because there's an update to some of the
Starting point is 00:19:50 things Aaron Rogers said on hard knocks. And maybe it is a little acting. Maybe it's a little forced. Stevie Meatballs. I want to hang it with this guy. His name Stevie Meatballs. He said, Charlie Sheen is the Bachelor. Think about it. We were talking about that before because Jesse Palmer said Tom Brady would probably
Starting point is 00:20:09 make the best athlete Bachelor if it were to happen. And off the air, I want to throw Ryan under the bus since we just met Ryan and all. He seems like a cool guy. He said Justin Herbert would be the lamest. Ryan, I'm with you. Ryan Musicills what's up. There's nothing wrong with that. You can sell me out.
Starting point is 00:20:25 It's all good. I see how we run things. No, listen. Great quarterback, great talent. Not a great personality. No, no. You know what? Completely agreed.
Starting point is 00:20:33 That's why I think Tom Brady would be the best answer. And it would get the hating guy. And there's a lot of guys that hate on, I mean, not only us, but The Bachelor. And they probably would tune in to see Tom Brady. Let's see. Jiminy hit us up on Twitter. And we were talking about infomercials first hour. You could catch on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:20:51 He said, don't forget this sweet dude, Esteban pitching his signature guitar. Oh, when you bring up Esteban, it makes me think of Zamphir Master of the Pan flute. That was another one. I wanted that. I'm like, Mom, I got to get that CD. Dan Romanowski said, The Socket Fan? Yes, I know that. Yeah, we were talking infomercial items if you missed any of that because Aaron Rogers didn't know what the floby was on Hard Knocks.
Starting point is 00:21:14 What about those packs of CDs your parents would buy? All the 50s and 60s hits on the same? compact disc set. Well, let's tie it back to sports and give Jock Jams a little shout out. Jock Jams. Nice. That's the most rocking Rich ever did was with Jock Jams. But anyway, thank you guys for hanging out with us.
Starting point is 00:21:32 We appreciate it. Now, since we're talking about love, Rich, and finding love and the Bachelor and the Golden Bachelor, you have this theory. Yeah, my theory, before we get to the herd line news, I know Ryan's got some good stories lined up, I hear a lot of sports radio, watch a lot of talking heads giving their takes on franchise quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:21:58 And it made me think, the way people talk about franchise quarterbacks is the same way men talk about finding a wife. And the parallels are identical. You know what? It's a great question. Finding a great woman and ladies, finding a great man or whatever you're into. Because sometimes you think you found him, but you're like, oh, wait. Well, it's not what I thought. The commonalities, let's go over them, right?
Starting point is 00:22:23 Everyone thinks they deserve a 10 or a 12, right? Everyone thinks, like, I deserve the model that's also smart and a great mom. Everyone thinks they deserve the perfect woman. Everyone thinks they deserve to find themselves a Mahomes or a Josh Allen or a Joe Burrow. Everyone thinks that, right? That's the goal. Like, you know what? I'm going to get myself a perfect woman.
Starting point is 00:22:51 But you know what? What do most end up with? The best they could get. Yeah. Settled. Like a six. They're okay. I like them.
Starting point is 00:23:02 I'm not sure I want to commit to them. You know what? You're much like dating and franchise quarterbacks, you're reluctant to commit because you're not sold on them. Dak Prescott. That's the issue with today's world in. general, not only in sports, but in dating. There's so many single people out there
Starting point is 00:23:20 because they're always looking for that upgrade or that next better option because there seems to be so many options in social media. I know it's not the plan, but there's rumblings because Trey Lance went to Dallas. It's like, man, Dax's days might be numbered. Much like most people who
Starting point is 00:23:36 end up with the best they could get, like I said, like a DAC, what happens? You often regret when you do commit to that person because you inevitably have to commit at some point. And then you're like, oh man, we committed to this person. The big contract sort of like signing the marriage papers
Starting point is 00:23:55 because then you get divorced. You have to pay out the rest of this contract or give them half of everything. So a lot of people will commit reluctantly to someone they're not sure of. Is the heartache the same though when they don't work out? It could be, I guess, when you look at it that way, right? Kyler Murray. A lot of hopes and dreams there, a lot of goals.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Kyler Murray, 160 million guaranteed. I mean, Ryan, are you feeling this? I mean, it is really finding a wife and finding a franchise quarterback. I mean, your hopes and dreams all hinge on the fact that you expect this to be a lifelong partnership. It should be sunshine and rainbows 24-7 and it almost very rarely happens. So good at the beginning. And then the true colors come out. Tyler Murray looks good in that sports bra.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Wait a second. I mean, look at the Jets. They thought they had their happy future with Zach Wilson. It didn't work out. They had to go with the mistress and Aaron Rogers. You know what Zach... The gum on. You know what Zach Wilson is equivalent to.
Starting point is 00:24:58 He's the next category, Ryan, which is you see some young hottie, and you're like, ooh, I'm going to go after that. And you put all your time and energy into her. And you realize there's so much potential, but she's a pain in the ass. Or she's just not working. it or it's like, yeah, this is not what I thought. She's not ready for a serious commitment. She's not ready for a serious relationship. Or you date her and you're like, oh, this is not what I want. She wants to go to the club on a Wednesday night. And you're like, I'm 40.
Starting point is 00:25:26 You're right. The similarities are endless. So you can make a million analogies, but finding a franchise quarterback is. What's harder though? Honestly, think about that with social media options. And we've said for years, don't be a pilgrim. Never be a pilgrim. Do you have buckles on your shoes? Then don't be a pilgrim. Don't settle. Don't settle. right and like you said there's just a lot of people that are settling they're not the one but they'll do for now
Starting point is 00:25:53 is kind of the thought process there think about the NFL there's a lot of when you really think about it there's a lot of people who are probably just there to fill time they're not really the one and think about sometimes the owner is the guy that
Starting point is 00:26:09 so they're settling sometimes the owner's like the guy that should commit because he's got a good girl and it's like you're going to lose that good girl if you don't commit a la Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens were almost it's almost like, hey Ravens, a good girl's hard to find. You might want to give Lamar the ring. So it's just so funny. I just thought of this because the more and more you hear people talk about, man, find a franchise quarterback is such a key part of the organization.
Starting point is 00:26:40 I'm like, it sounds like everyone's just describing trying to find a wife that's going to be a good mom. not cheat on you. So let me ask you, I mean, so let me ask you this to hold on. So when your ex-1, your ex-wife moves on, a la Jimmy G, do you root for him? Yeah, in a way you do,
Starting point is 00:26:59 because if they're miserable, they'll sort of just... They'll make your life miserable. Yeah. But then again, you don't want your ex much like that. You don't want your ex to be too good in the new situation. Like the Niners, I'm a Niners for.
Starting point is 00:27:12 I'm a Niners for the Raiders to, make the playoffs at 10 and 7 is a wild card and shock everyone. I know there's a lot of people down on the Raiders. I don't think the Raiders, I love the overbet for the Raiders in Vegas where I think their win totals like five and a half in some places. I think the Raiders are
Starting point is 00:27:29 a 500 team or better. As a Niners fan, I want Jimmy G. to do great. But I'd be lying if I said, I don't want Jimmy G to do so great. What if Jimmy G. is doing all those things that he never did for you, but he's doing for them now. Oh, you're
Starting point is 00:27:45 that for him, huh? Yeah, exactly. You said that was not what you were into. What if Jimmy G. has all these new tricks that he didn't know before, but now he's doing it with the Raiders. And much like dating, the last analogy, if I could add one more in. I know Colin loves a good analogy, so this is right up the herd's alley. A lot of times, much like dating, there could be someone that was miserable with you,
Starting point is 00:28:11 and then you see him on Facebook and they're married with two kids and they look happy. better fit. They found their fit. They found where they should be. They found what works for them. That's another good one. Wow. The similarities between finding the right quarterback and finding the one and finding a wife, the one, very similar. Again, it makes you think what is harder because we do live in that fleeting, fickle world of, well, I want the upgrade. What's next?
Starting point is 00:28:39 You know, I was expecting something different. And much like when you think you find the one, the Jets, when you watch hard, You see Sala, you see all the coaches, you see everybody. They're like, this guy's incredible. Look at this guy. Look at them. I mean, we got ourselves like water that. During times we're Robert Salas fanboying a little bit.
Starting point is 00:28:55 And what happens, though? He's like the hot woman, right? Aaron Rogers is like the beautiful woman who's almost too good for that guy. Don't take advantage. There you go. So what happens in that situation? There's a bit of a power struggle, right? That hot woman gets away with murder, essentially.
Starting point is 00:29:12 She does what she wants. I'm going to do what I want. The guy is just so thankful. to have her that he deals with the lot. Is that going to happen with the New York Jets? We'll see. Like, Aaron Rogers might be a pain in the ass. We just don't know it yet because early on in the honeymoon stage of this
Starting point is 00:29:27 marriage. Much like a fat ball guy that's just happy to have a beautiful woman. The jets are just over the moon to have Aaron Rogers. So there you go. That was my quarterbacks are like finding a wife. That was my Kavino and Rich, the herd herd in for Colin analogy of the day. Let's get to the herd line news, shall we?
Starting point is 00:29:45 No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. You guys talking about Aaron Rogers there. Let's talk about Aaron Rogers' former team. The Green Bay Packers is going to be Jordan Love's first season as the man in Green Bay. We've seen him in some preseason action. Take from that what you will.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Maybe it means nothing. Maybe it means everything. At least that's according to the general manager of the Packers, Brian Gutakunz. Here's what he had to say about what he's seen from Jordan Love thus far. There's things that maybe not everybody sees, but little mistakes that, you know, I think he's going to really grow from, you know, just in there are things that maybe didn't affect the play. And then there's successes that he had, too, the same thing. You know, that gives him confidence to move forward. So I think it was just really, really, really, really good.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Really, really good. Really, really good. You know, Ryan, when you think about getting that franchise quarterback that we were just talking about, very few times in NFL history, do you go from? Like stud to stud. Like Montana, Steve Young's in the wings. Aaron Rogers is waiting there behind Brett Favre. You can maybe name a couple more, maybe not even a couple more. So for them to strike gold three times in a row,
Starting point is 00:31:00 I'm room for Jordan Love to be good, but I don't know. I'm with you. It seems even if you just take, you don't know anything about Jordan Love, because we don't. It just seems like it's like winning the lottery twice. You're like, that's just not going to happen. No way that's possible. It just doesn't seem like the stars could align that way for the Green Bay Packers.
Starting point is 00:31:20 But we'll turn our attention to the Buffalo Bills now. It's been an interesting off-season and pre-season for the Bills as they look to regain that top position as contenders in the AFC alongside the Chiefs. Now, despite all the discussion in the media about how good they may or may not be this upcoming season, their star quarterback, Josh Allen. He's not worried about all that discussion whatsoever. One thing I do know, it's hard to win in this league. It's hard to win consistently in this league.
Starting point is 00:31:47 But the type of men that we have in this facility, in this locker room, you know, it's a special group. So, you know, I don't really hear all that outside noise. I know the type of guys that we have, the energy and the juice that we can bring, and how special this team can be. Special things on the horizon for the Buffalo Bills? You know, Josh Allen is insinuating that him and Stefan Diggs are like better than ever. Like they made up, they went out to have a drinks, talked it out.
Starting point is 00:32:12 He makes it seem like everything's great. In fact, he's a captain right now. That's right, yeah. So maybe we, as the fans, as we hate to accept the fact that men and women that love sports, we do treat it like a soap opera sometimes. Maybe we overstated the problems in Buffalo and they come out and go 13 and 4 and they're right back in the postseason and everything is the same. Sure. I mean, I think outside of the Diggs drama, obviously you guys talking about Aaron Rogers with the Jets and we have the rise of the dolphins of Tuica can stay healthy,
Starting point is 00:32:43 That's probably going to be one of the bigger challenges. Their bigger problem is like, look at it like this. If you're a guy that's in shape and you're pretty ripped and you hang out with a bunch of out of shape guys, if you stay ripped but they start working out and you're going, yeah, you guys are getting pretty ripped too. That's sort of how it is in the AFC East. Like Buffalo is like the one guy that worked out hanging out with his fat buddies at the bar.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Now his buddies are doing P90X. Tony Horton style. That's right. Yeah, you're right. The bills are still good. It just everyone around them got better. It's gotten much better. We'll wrap up with this.
Starting point is 00:33:13 Danny G. and his beloved Raiders. That's right. Josh Jacobs, one of those running backs who pushed back against the franchise tag, held out, ended up with a one-year contract worth a couple million more than what the franchise tag would have got him, bringing him into the fold for the start of this season. Now, are there any hard feelings between Josh Jacobs during some, you know, what ended up being some contentious contract negotiations? Here's what Jacobs had to say. I mean, we hear. We made it happen, so it ain't all her feelings now.
Starting point is 00:33:43 I mean, I feel like, like I said, we made it happen. So it's a clean slate with me. It was never like really just like, you know, no hate on each side. I understood it. But at the same time, I understood my value too. So it was just about meeting in the middle. I don't know about that. You know what?
Starting point is 00:33:59 I don't know about it. If he had like some six-year, $100 million contract, I could be like, hey, no hard feelings. I get it. Like, this was clearly a compromise that was sort of like an arranged deal where you were like, All right, we got to figure this out. No one's happy about how this turned out. Hey, Ryan, between Sequin, between Josh Jacobs, between what's going on with Jonathan Taylor,
Starting point is 00:34:22 I heard some rumblings that next time they have the ability to go over this with the Players Association, the whole franchise tag in general might be something they push to do away with. Sure, yeah, I mean... Especially how you can leverage it now against a running back. Absolutely, yeah. Look, it just becomes a matter of if that's what the union wants to fight for. They've had some wins in some areas, fewer padded practices, shortened preseason.
Starting point is 00:34:49 They fought for the, you know, drug testing, things like that. So maybe the franchise tag is the next thing. The whole union gets behind. And if that's what they want to push for, good luck. Because they historically don't have a great track record negotiating against the NFL owners. Yeah. NFL owners get what they want. As as Tom Brady said in Man in the Arena, when you're fighting against,
Starting point is 00:35:10 remember when he got the suspension for it? Fleetgate or all these things. He said, it's me versus 30-something billionaires. You're not going to win. All right. Thank you, Ryan. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Welcome back to the Kavino and Rich show. C&R show, in for Colin on the herd. You know, earlier Ryan was talking about that kicker, Lou Headley, 30-year-old. It's like the forest gum of the NFL. He's owned tattoo shops. He's played the Australian football.
Starting point is 00:35:43 He's traveled the world. He's 30. Making his way into the NFL now as a kicker. You know, I get a lot of my herd line news, courtesy of TikTok. I don't know about you guys, but I get all my jokes and news, courtesy of TikTok. That's where I get my dance moves, too.
Starting point is 00:35:59 TikTok. By the way, yeah, yeah, you could follow us. We're on TikTok. See our dance moves. We're on everything at Covino and Rich. Danny G., you could attest to this because you're with us every day in the afternoon. Covino will sometimes get tricked by something that he sees on TikTok. I mean, who does it?
Starting point is 00:36:13 And he'd be like, yo, did you see the story? I'm like, you think that's real? And then he tries to be like, no, I'm just playing. I mean, yeah, I'm the only guy. One time, Kavino was like, did you see this guy? He had certain shoes on. And what was it called? Liquid and mountaineering, right?
Starting point is 00:36:28 Liquid and mountaineering. Kavino believed that this guy could run across water. Well, for a minute, for a second, until I said it out loud. I just kidding, guys. I believed it until I said it out loud. I'm like, God. Did I just say that? I don't think I should have that.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Are we on the radio? people are like, yeah, they're walking on water, you idiot? So it just made me think, though. You were talking about the Lou Headley guy and how this is the feel good story. Man, what a path tattooed up, Australian guy in the NFL, kicker for the Saints. And then I thought about this video I saw on TikTok, which, again, you think you know everything, but you don't. On a throwback Thursday, I'm just throwing this out there to tie it into kickers real quick. So does video about the NERF football?
Starting point is 00:37:12 Oh, no, different one. I'm sorry. Oh, okay. I had a kicker story I saw on TikTok as well. Again, we are on a throwback Thursday. And believe me, we're going to throw it back in about 10 minutes, old school and 50 hits. We're talking Bob Barker. But a toy, I would say is a top three toy. I would consider it a toy that we all played with growing up in the 80s, 90s.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And today, the Nerf football was invented by a kicker. Fred Cox, Vikings kicker, I believe he was the franchise leading score. But a lot of people, according to the story, is like for something that's so popular, not everybody knows because he never really got the credit. And his story's kind of interesting. You know, he passed away a year ago,
Starting point is 00:38:00 Jim Bouton. Jim Bouton. Jim Bouton, but a lot of people don't realize he created Big League Chew, which is something every kid that played Little League had Big League chew. But former Yankee pitcher Jim Pountain, He was on the pouch. He was on the back.
Starting point is 00:38:13 The story was there. You know, every kid had that Nerf football. It changed lives. NFL players that we admire today all pick up a Nerf football and are like, oh, yeah, this is my childhood. I loved it. But not everybody knows that this legendary kicker. I wonder if our boss man knows. He's a Vikings fan.
Starting point is 00:38:28 You know, you think he knows that? Is it common knowledge? I don't know. Look it up. But the story goes that old Fred Cox was sitting there, right? And some young entrepreneur came up to him. He's like, I got this backyard game. I just want you to look at it.
Starting point is 00:38:42 And it was just a plastic upright. And the whole point was to see if little kids could kick field goals. And he said, well, what kind of ball you're going to use? And he's like, oh, I was thinking something heavy so it didn't go into the yards and everything. He's like, now you got to use a foam rubber ball. Here's what you got to do. Nerf football, throwback Thursday. Bull bam, just a quick story that I, which, by the way, has to be true.
Starting point is 00:39:01 Did he go with Mr. Wonderful or Barbara? He went with Damon John. He took the offer. Yeah, 20%. Yeah, Mr. Wonderful wanted too many royalties. Yeah, no, no, didn't he say I'm going to take it behind the barn and shoot it? No, yeah, Robert Herzvec wanted in on it. But no, so a cool story, which like I said has to be true because I saw it on TikTok,
Starting point is 00:39:22 but throwing it out there on a throwback Thursday, a toy we always enjoyed playing with. We have more. Kavino and Rich, and for Colin on the Herd next. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Dynasty the King. What's good, y'all? Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do a little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam Jett. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
Starting point is 00:42:45 I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack, so I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:04 For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for having us. We appreciate it. Kavino and Rich. Steve Kavino, just a kid from Union, New Jersey. You remember me, Union. A kid with the pumpkin pie haircut, hitting all those home runs.
Starting point is 00:43:25 That's me. No, that's not how they remember you. That is, that's it. And that's Rich Davis. Together we form the Covino and Rich show. Again, in for Colin on the herd. Spots on the videos at Covino and Rich. And of course, Danny G. Super Producing.

It's our after show every Wednesday. You could also watch on the Fox Sports Radio YouTube page. So search Kavino and Rich and of course Kavino and Rich overpromised. Has anyone got a sense of Nick Bosa and what's happening in San Francisco? John Lynch said no updates in a monotone voice.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Shattahan was all monotone. saying, yeah, no updates. They're going to stick to that. No updates. There is communication, and that's a good thing. I'll leave it at that. I thought that Trey Lance money was going to go to your boy. Yeah, what did they get?
Starting point is 00:44:38 They only got like another million or two, but still, what? Do you think the hang up is typical for these big, no, because quarterbacks usually, they get that done quick, but I don't know, man. Is Bosa asking for something absurd or the Niners dilly-dally? I can't imagine the Niners knowing. I can't imagine the Niners knowing that they could win now are dilly-dallying. And they knew that they had to put aside big money to keep boasts.
Starting point is 00:45:03 So I'm so curious as to what the hang-up is. They're saying the rumor of them trying to trade him, that's not happening. And by the way, I don't know if people know. I'm a Yankees fan. I'm a Yankees fan. And clearly their seasons are done. So you can't imagine how excited we are for football, especially Rich, who's got money burning his pocket waiting to throw it down on his Niners.
Starting point is 00:45:24 So if you believe that the. the Niners are trying to get this done with Bosa. Kyle Shanahan said they're working tirelessly around the clock and they're hoping to get Bosa back sooner than later. So, Chanahan said he thought a deal would come together
Starting point is 00:45:40 around this time, but we'll see. Nick Bosa, cross your fingers, Niners fans. I'll cross some fingers for you, but Rich, look at the clock. Let's go. There's a search. What we're going to do right here is go back. Back into time.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Throwing it back for a Thursday. Old school went 50 hits. At 50 after, CNNR give you the time capsule topic, and we reminisce together. Love throwing it back on a Thursday. It's just part of what we do. We as people, too. I think YouTube changed everything. Yeah, this is the generation that loves to reminisce, loves to look back.
Starting point is 00:46:18 Do you think about sports? You're thinking about your old school starter jackets, all the baseball cards you had. Like, if I was thinking about all the wiffleball you've, played watching an episode of what's happening. Oh man remember that one where rerun was dancing. That was just a memory we had but now we could look at, hey
Starting point is 00:46:36 you know what, I'm just going to go to YouTube and look it up right now. So we became the generation that just loved nostalgia. Live for nostalgia. Love to throw it back. Love to reminisce. Know what I looked up the other day? What? You know you go down these little rabbit holes and looking up stuff? I
Starting point is 00:46:52 looked up every Monday night football intro from season one until, you know, remember the pinball machine when we were kids, the pinball machine opening, and then, of course. You mean the one that went, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. No, that's a different one. You know, multiple pinball machine openings. The NFL pinball machine. By the way, which is available?
Starting point is 00:47:12 I saw that you could buy that pinball machine all the way to the Hank Williams Jr. stuff to now the current Monday Night Football. So what used to be just a fond memory, hey, you remember, right? Now you just look it up, you're living it. you live for those nostalgic moments. So on Thursdays, we throw it back old school when 50 hits on the clock, when 50 hits in life, you feel a little old school.
Starting point is 00:47:32 And we lost an old school legend. And I was surprised how everyone described the same feeling. I didn't know we all shared in the same feeling of Bob Barker who passed away at 99, just under the retail price. That was my favorite meme. And you're allowed to make fun, lighthearted jokes when someone lives to 99. There's nothing tragic.
Starting point is 00:47:51 If you live to 99, if I live to 99, make all the jokes you want. Rod Roddy was there welcoming him. The Pearl Lee Gates with his sequenced, his white sequenced jacket. But Bob Barker watched a specific TV show in his final days. So we want you, Fox Sports Radio Nation, to start thinking about, well, not necessarily your final days. But if you had to choose. What show would you watch? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Would you just watch sports? Would you watch a show? Would you binge something? Bob Barker will get to that plus some NFL, week one, all coming up next. CNR. In for Colin on the Earth. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:48:59 or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put it.
Starting point is 00:49:21 on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:49:33 From 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
Starting point is 00:49:42 and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild, I mean,
Starting point is 00:49:50 It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed human.
