Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.

I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves. their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicalife-Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. So somebody in the world of football already feeling the heat. Already feeling the heat. We'll explain who that is coming up here in just a couple of moments from now. Jonas Knox in for Colin Cowherd here on the Herd on Fox Sports Radio. You can always find this show on the IHeart Radio app.

We appreciate you doing so as we take you all the way up until 3 o'clock Eastern time, noon Pacific. By the way, I do a show during the week, if you're not familiar, with LeVar Arrington and Brady Quinn, called Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, which you can hear on these Fox Sports Radio affiliates, 6 to 9 a.m. Eastern Time, 3 to 6 a.m. Pacific time. You can also catch me on Saturdays here on Fox Sports Radio, 2 to 4 p.m. Eastern Time, 11 a.m.m. to 1 p.m. Pacific time. And I bring up Saturday because this past Saturday, you know, doing a show, the Ohio State Texas game is going on. And I'm watching the reaction to Archmanning struggles and then just kind of seeing maybe the overreaction to some things throughout college football. I was making this point earlier.
Starting point is 00:03:44 I said, look, I mean, I like the fact that the college football playoff gives teams an opportunity to suffer a loss. to struggle a little bit early on. I like that because it allows you to go through those difficulties and still not be punished so much that you can't play for something bigger, right? This isn't like boxing where you would be punished if you lost your perfect record, right? They're more like the UFC or like, hey, you got a couple of losses, whatever. If you're next in line for a title shot, you're getting a title shot. Like, look, whoever's next in line.
Starting point is 00:04:23 You got to do the work, but whoever's next in line, you're going to get your opportunity. The college football playoffs allowed teams to do that. So you could lose early on in the season. You could be a Clemson and lose, and everything's going to be fine. You could be in Notre Dame and lose to Miami, and everything's going to be fine. Christ, Notre Dame lost last year to Northern Illinois and still figured out a way to get in. Like you can be in Ohio State and lose to Michigan And you're still going to have an opportunity
Starting point is 00:04:55 And then there's Alabama And then there's Kailin DeBoer And take it over for Dick Sabin And you open up this year You take on Florida State who won two games a year ago And you just get annihilated at the line of scrimmage Which just didn't happen
Starting point is 00:05:20 when Nick Saban was the coach at Alabama, right? It just looked a little bit different. And so they go into Tallahassee and get stomped out, and all of a sudden, Kaelan DeBore is feeling the heat, and he spoke about the performance of Alabama following the loss to Florida State. I choose to believe we got a good football team, but we can't play on our heels. We're not going to be what we think we can be, what we want to be,
Starting point is 00:05:49 if that's the case. And so again, that falls on everyone. Don't just point the finger at the players. You know, gave the, I know the deep, both sides of the ball. I mean, you kind of know what you're going to see, but going into the game, but, you know, with new coordinators. But we got to, you know, we talked in the locker room. There's no excuse about what happened.
Starting point is 00:06:10 We step on the football field. They step on the football field. And we got to play ball. We got to play our style of ball. And, you know, last year isn't this. year and it's going to be an uphill climb for us but you can't think of it in the big scope of things you got to focus on the moment and the next moment is what happens tomorrow that's cayland de boar the Alabama head coach following the loss to florida state all of that makes sense
Starting point is 00:06:36 and all of that is the probably the right outlook to have especially after losing that and as i mentioned earlier look these are difficult games especially if you go on the road if you go on the road in a difficult environment early on. It's what makes the LSU win so impressive. But if you go on the road early on, I don't care what Florida State was last year. They're not a two-win team. I don't see Florida State winning one more game the rest of the year.
Starting point is 00:07:06 That's a difficult place. Everybody's fired up. Fans have been licking the lid in the parking lot for hours at that point. Probably stayed up from the night before. But that's a fiery environment. So I look at that. I go, look, man, it's a difficult loss. I get it.
Starting point is 00:07:26 But you can bounce back. Much like Texas, you can bounce back. But it's Alabama. And that's the problem. And that's the issue. And that's why there are differences here. It's what makes college football great to where I'm not condoning, poisoning a tree that's been there for,
Starting point is 00:07:47 200 years, okay? But that happened, and it happens in college football. Did anybody see the Alabama fan who went viral? Somebody zoomed in on an Alabama fan as they were getting stomped out by Florida State and the guy just literally threw up a middle
Starting point is 00:08:03 finger. He knew he was on camera. He knew it was in the stadium. He was pissed. He was your typical Alabama fan, polo shirt, a slouch hat with the bill curved so much that you could barely see his eyes
Starting point is 00:08:20 camera pops up on him and he just throws him the bird couldn't even care less that's Alabama that's the way they operate as somebody who worked and spent time in SEC country doing radio back in the day
Starting point is 00:08:36 somebody who's been to Alabama that fan base has a certain level of expectation and that certain level of expectation is because of Nick Saban. He's the greatest to ever do it. And Kalin DeBoer has taken over a near impossible job. Because to be the guy after Nick Saban is a real pain in the ass.
Starting point is 00:09:05 It just is. Like that's a difficult task to have to take over that job. And that's why when Kaylin DeBore took the job was like, I get it. He's getting paid. But damn, that's a lot to ask. just to give you an idea, the level of success that Nick Saban had at Alabama, just to give you an idea. Kaelin DeBore already in his time at Alabama has four losses versus unranked teams. Nick Saban had four losses versus unranked teams in 17 years.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Like, we got a problem. It's a problem. okay, there's already people calling for Canada the board's job. All right, there's already, the fans are already out. They're already out in full force. There's got to be some changes here. Things have got to, you know, we got to,
Starting point is 00:10:04 somebody's got to do something. This is unacceptable. And Alabama's probably going to turn out to be a pretty good team. And look, because of the expanded college football playoff, maybe Alabama's going to bounce back. Maybe they'll go on a run in the SEC. Maybe everything's going to be fine. Or Alabama fans are finally realizing, yeah, that's not Nick Saban.
Starting point is 00:10:26 And it doesn't mean that Kaylon DeVore is not a good coach. He did great things at Washington. It doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He is. But that job at that school, with that program and those expectations is a different level. It just is. I was born and raised in Southern California. Right. Now, some people call it the Hado 5, right? But I was born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California. I liked college football growing up. I was a fan of college football, obviously. You know, the great Miami teams back in the day. I like college football, of course, the traditions, all that stuff. But I didn't get college football. I liked it, but I didn't totally get it until I started doing radio in the South.
Starting point is 00:11:18 and I realize, oh God, it's just different here. It really is. And that's not to diminish what USC did with Matt Leinert and Reggie Bush and those guys and Pete Carroll. That's not to diminish them. But even then, at the height of USC and the dominant program that they had, even then, some of the great players and greatest teams we've ever seen, it's not even close. to what it is in the South during college football season. It isn't even, not even a fraction.
Starting point is 00:11:56 And we're talking about like mid-tier SEC teams. Like South Carolina when I was there and Steve Spurrier was the coach, they were okay. They weren't competing for a national championship. That wasn't happening. But they were okay. Fanbase is nuts. What do you think Alabama's like? Alabama then, and that was before Nick Saban put together this legendary run in Tuscaloosa.
Starting point is 00:12:29 That was even then that fan base was crazy. Like they live and breathe and die college football. That's all they care about. So while Kalin DeBore is a very good coach who can withstand a lot of the heat in other places, in Tuscaloosa, that's a tall task. That's a really tall task. Nebraska, great program, right? They couldn't wait to get rid of Bo Polini.
Starting point is 00:13:04 And Bo Polini was winning nine games a year constantly. Not good enough. Not good enough. See ya. Okay. How's that going? I mean, that rule, maybe he has him back to prominence. Maybe he can get him there.
Starting point is 00:13:19 but that wasn't good enough. And whatever Kaelin Dabor does short of Nick Saban is not going to be good enough. He took on an impossible task. He's expected to take over and replace the greatest ever do it. And on top of that, in a place that is obsessed with that program, obsessed. They care about football in the South more than you care about your kids. they are obsessed. And so whatever Kaelan DeBore says after the game,
Starting point is 00:13:58 and maybe they'll bounce back and maybe they'll respond and maybe they'll go on a heater, there's still going to be majority of Alabama fans that are like, yeah, but he's not Sabin. And I got news for you, he's never going to be Sabin. He's going to feel the heat because he took on the impossible task of replacing the greatest ever do it.
Starting point is 00:14:21 And more often than not, That never ends well. At the Jonas Knox on X. We have some big news. What's the news, news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:16:04 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:16:21 And we were thinking I'm originally calling it, one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing,
Starting point is 00:16:35 a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.

I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Genshin win. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. It's the herd here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox in for Colin. By the way, coming up here a little over 10 minutes from now in the herd line news, we've got a proof that there is one fan base. And one venue in the NFL, that goes harder than the others.
Starting point is 00:19:25 We'll get into that for you again coming up here, a little over 10 minutes from now. So Calvin Ridley of the Tennessee Titans, he spoke recently. He was talking with ESPN. And I don't know if you remember Calvin Ridley. I called him the People's Wide Receiver, because while he was away from playing football, the guy was out there doing like seven leg parlays and all. sorts of fun stuff like that. I'm like, you know what, man, he's one of us. Look at that.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Guy's just like us. That guy's just like us. It's like when Christian Bale was seen driving like a Tacoma, like something like a like a 2005 Tacoma. If you're like, look at that. He's a celebrity. He drives a pickup truck. Yeah, it's just like us. Calvin Ridley out there doing seven leg parlays, just like us. But Calvin Ridley spoke with ESPN and talked about the suspension. Quote, the suspension gave me time to rest, get physically better and mentally stronger. After that year, I was ready to come back. He talked about the gambling he took part in, said I downloaded the app sitting there
Starting point is 00:20:38 and not knowing that I was breaking a rule or anything. And he bet on two NFL games. There were two NFL games. None on his team, I don't believe, but he bet on two games. He said, yeah, those are the only two that I bet on. It's like, okay. You know, maybe instead of like making Calvin Ridley explain himself, maybe instead of making Calvin Ridley sit here and be criticized and judged,
Starting point is 00:21:03 maybe instead of being a wise ass and looking at Calvin Ridley and saying, you know what, man, how could you, how could you urinate away, potentially your NFL career? You talk about loving football as a kid and blah, blah, blah. You know, maybe instead of taking that approach, we could give Calvin Ridley a round of applause and say, you know what? Guy was ahead of his time. That guy was ahead of his time.
Starting point is 00:21:30 No, keep it going, man. I'm serious. And that's enough. Let's say judgment-free zone here on Fox Sports Radio on this show when I'm hosting. I'll tell you why. According to an estimate released by the American Gaming Association, NFL betters are expected to wager approximately $30 billion on the league this season with legal sports books in the U.S.
Starting point is 00:21:57 By the way, it's not even legal in every state. There's like 12 states that are still holding out. California is too. What a shock. What a stutter. California? No, you can't go. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:07 What a stutter. $30 billion. That's an 8.5% increased from last year. Okay? That's what we're talking about. Calvin Ridley was just ahead of his time. You know, he saw what was happening. Just like a lot of people saw what was happening.
Starting point is 00:22:32 And when you think about how much people are going to, and look, there's a, and I get it. There are some people who do have issues, all right? Shohay Otani's interpreter, that guy had some problems, right? Got some problems. You know, he's betting on, like, you know, Indian Premier League cricket. and, you know, horse races overseas where the horses run backwards. Like, it's just like, I get it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I understand. Some people have a problem. And I've heard some people say that this is concerning. If we're opening this up, you know, people could get into financial trouble. People get it. Okay. All that's true. But I'm not going to walk by a liquor store and say, you got to shut down, sir, or ma'am.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Because so-and-so has a drinking problem. No, I'll walk by and say, hey, so-and-so's got a drinking problem. But if they got cash, I mean, I don't have to tell you. Like, somebody's got to scratch the itch. It's not my job to tell the NFL or anybody else or anybody that wants to partake in gambling. Hey, you shouldn't do that. And here are the pitfalls. Not everybody falls into the open sewer that somebody took the cap off of.
Starting point is 00:23:53 Not everybody falls. Some people are aware. Yeah, this could be a problem. Got to keep my eyes open. Head on a swivel. And you look at those numbers, $30 billion, and it's not even legal.
Starting point is 00:24:08 In every state, I talked about it earlier. You saw the numbers of the preseason. You saw the preseason numbers, like the viewership, 2.2 million, like up 17% on last year, et cetera, et cetera. Like, you don't think that there were some people gambling on the preseason.
Starting point is 00:24:25 there were. Want to know how I know? Because I'm one of them. Like this? I don't think people understand. And look, they've welcomed gambling in and I get it. There's going to be some athletes. I think the Cleveland Guardians, you know, they used to be called something else, but listen, we're not going to go down that road. You can watch Major League if you want to see that, right? It's a damn shame. But the Cleveland Guardians have got two pitchers who are on leave, and they're investigating, like really good pitchers, and they're investigating them because they're like,
Starting point is 00:25:01 man, we really saw a spike in betting. Yeah, what was it? You know, people betting whether or not the next pitch was going to be a ball or a hit-by pitch, and then lo and behold, the very next pitch was way outside, like a lot further outside than normal. It's like, oh, okay, yeah, that might be an issue. That might be a problem.
Starting point is 00:25:21 But that doesn't mean you just stop. That doesn't mean you say, no, no, no. Nobody can partake. Nobody can be evolved. And I think that the NFL, and I think that people are slowly pulling back on the restrictions. You've seen how they've adjusted the punishments to athletes who get popped. You've seen how it used to be all.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Everybody's gone for a full season or everybody's gone for six games. And then it's like, eh, kind of work with you on this. It wasn't that long ago that Tony Romo, before he was golfing and part-time broadcasting, it wasn't that long ago that Tony Romo wanted to set up a fantasy football convention in Las Vegas, and the NFL said, no. No, you can't.
Starting point is 00:26:11 We don't like the idea of gambling getting involved here. 10 years later, 30 billion. 30 billion is going to be gambled on the NFL. And I think the NFL realized there's an opportunity to make money, but I think they've also realized, yeah, there's going to be the potential that guys are going to go sideways. Like, there is the potential of that. You've seen it happen in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Was it John T. Porter? Like, you've seen, listen, like, yeah, there's the potential of that. But it doesn't mean that you just get rid of it for everybody. Like, Calvin Ridley served his punishment. He learned his lesson, quote, unquote. other guys have, you know, gotten pop for it. And they've been punished for it. But the fact that you see so many people taking part,
Starting point is 00:27:07 so many that you're looking at $30 billion up 8.5%. And I get news where 8.5% of $30 billion is a lot. That's a lot. But when you're seeing those numbers and it's still not legal in over 10 states in the country, it's only going to get bigger. that lead we mentioned earlier the NFL has on every single sport based on the ratings that came out for preseason games that leads only getting bigger there's going to be more of this there's going to be the potential of more players coming up or popping up that are gambling on games or partaking in games i don't think it's the worst thing in the world i'm one of those people who takes pete rose's side from the this standpoint. If he didn't
Starting point is 00:27:58 bet against his team, I do look at that different than betting on your team. I'm sorry. I do. Because there's nothing wrong with supporting your team and betting on your team. Trust me, I've rooted for awful teams.
Starting point is 00:28:14 Awful teams growing up. And if there was an opportunity to bet on him, I was going to do it. I would never bet against him. Wanted to be loyal, but I was going to... So I'm one of those people. I know it's a little crazy, but I'm one of those people who looks at this. Well, you know, if he didn't bet,
Starting point is 00:28:30 like, I can understand the punishments and all that, but if he didn't bet against his team as a manager, I think we do look at that a little bit differently than betting on your team. Calvin really getting punished and opening up about it and all that, all these other guys that have been punished, this stuff's going to continue
Starting point is 00:28:45 to pop up. I got news for you. It's going to happen. When the Super Bowl was in Vegas a couple of years ago, I thought it was ridiculous that the NFL was like, oh, were banning anybody on either team. Anybody on either team that is seen in a casino, they'll be banned from the game. They're tired of all these punishments.
Starting point is 00:29:08 And I remember at the point being like, so wait a second, you mean to tell me if somebody walks up and Jake Moody's playing a penny slot at the Luxor? Like, you mention it like you walk by, hey, look, it's Jake Moody. He's playing penny slots. He's playing the double dolphin game at the Luxor.
Starting point is 00:29:25 or Buffalo Stampede at the Luxor. You mean to tell me he's not going to be allowed to play in the Super Bowl because he's betting at a slot machine? And I think the NFL is starting to loosen some of those restrictions as far as, yeah, maybe it's not the end of the world. But it's also not the end of the gambling and fusion in the NFL. If it's 30 billion this year, it's only going to be more next year. especially when you've got 10 plus states that still don't allow it.
Starting point is 00:30:00 This is only the tip of the iceberg. There's going to be more of it, and there's probably going to be more paranoia that comes along with it. At the Jonas Knox on X. At Jonas Knox Show on Instagram is where you can follow along if you'd like to. By the way, we are going to tell you coming up here in a little over 15 minutes from now, we are going to tell you about a front office executive. in the NFL who missed a pretty obvious, pretty obvious detail of his assessment on his starting quarterback.
Starting point is 00:30:34 We will have that for you again here a little over 15 minutes from now. But right now, it's time for the second installment of the Hurtline News. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Hirdline News. All right, Lee DeLap, what do we got? By the way, Lee, you're a degenerate flunky gambler. Are you still betting on horse races at dive bars?
Starting point is 00:30:54 Oh yeah, that's my favorite thing to do. Just, you know, minimum bet. Hey, let me just tell you something. For anybody listening across the country, I know there's the racetracks all around, you want to go have a damn good time during the NFL season? Go to Santa Anita.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Oh, yeah. That's a damn good time. Let's go live to our, I have a thought on Gambling Insider, Chris Profet, for the latest. I think I'm actually taking a weekend off in October to go to Del Mar. for the Breeders' Cup.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Yeah, it's, like, that's, yeah. It's, uh, love football on the phone. It's just, Santa Anita Racetrack is one of the most underrated venues that there is to go to. It's just a tremendous time, especially during football season, people out there, you know, betting their life savings on the three horse in the fourth race. There's nothing better than that. My dad learned how to drive chauffeering my grandfather up for carriage racing.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Yeah. In, in Toledo. That's right. Like, carriage racing. is some real dirtbag stuff. Hey, let me tell you something. The late great Frank Pollock, Fox Sports Radio legend here. Frank used to go to bet the races all the time.
Starting point is 00:32:00 That guy used to fish, eat terrible food, and gamble on horses. Nothing wrong with that. What do we got, Lee? Well, what goes great with a little gambling on the game? How about a little cold beer? For the NFL fans, they might be coughing up a pretty penny, depending on what stadium you're going to during the game. Can you guess which stadium has the highest-priced beer?
Starting point is 00:32:21 Oh, highest priced. So fine? I mean, it's a rip-off out of it. I mean, it is up there. It has $14 beers, but there is a few that are a bit more. That being Levi Stadium, which is actually also 14, so it's the same. But Raymond James Stadium, 1425. Allegiant Stadium, 15 bucks.
Starting point is 00:32:42 But the top and highest-priced beer is Washington Commanders at Commander's Field 1650. 16. Now, are we talking domestic beers or IPAs? Because if you're going to go IPA... You know, what is it? It's going to go. It's going to go. $25 for an IPA?
Starting point is 00:32:55 Yeah. You can put that a layaway. So a domestic beer at a commander's game is 1650? Yeah, and I assume that's a tall boy, you know, tall can. 24 ounces. Could be 25 if you, any of which brand you're going with. Lee, would you break down just so people understand the vernacular? Could you break down just the different beer sizes based on ounce if you could?
Starting point is 00:33:17 Well, your regular standard beer is going to be 12 ounces. Yeah. From there. But who goes 12 ounces, especially at a game. Typically, if it's a draft beer, they'll offer you 16 ounce pour. Some do 20, 22 ounce. But if you're going with the can, that's a 24 ounce. But oftentimes now they give you that extra ounce, 25 ounces.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Those are tall boys. Those are tall boys. And then you get your 32s and your 40s and all that. It's like we're talking about guns here. Now, do you know, or can you guess, Which stadium has the cheapest beer? Oh, that's a good one. Cheapest for domestic beer.
Starting point is 00:34:00 I mean, it's probably somebody who want, I'll say Jacksonville. I got to think like Atlanta with their whole push to go cheap on food and stuff. Jacksonville is middle of the pack. Atlanta is also somewhere in the middle. Well, kind of near the bottom. But Jacksonville is $10, about $10.25 of beer. Atlanta, $8.50. Now the cheapest is Cincinnati, 680 for domestic beer.
Starting point is 00:34:24 No wonder they drink so much. There was a report that came out that Bengals fans drink more than anybody else at games. Now I get it. Six bucks for a beer? That's a steal. You can't get that anywhere nowadays. For domestic beer? That works.
Starting point is 00:34:37 Yeah. All right. I mean, look, you know, at least, I mean, they're not paying their players, but at least, you know, they're not shortchanging their fans on, you know, on their beer. Maybe they should charge a little bit. bit more and then they could, you know, pay their players. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:53 So, Trey Hendrickson, if you've got a gripe against the Bengals, once you tell them to double up on the prices for their domestic beers and there won't be an issue there. Yeah, they could double the price and still be middle of the pack on price of beer. It's got $16.50 for a beer to watch the commanders. Good God. For like a Miller light. What else we got, Lee?
Starting point is 00:35:12 Guys, this might be news for fantasy football players out there. Jalen Warren reached two-year extension. details aren't quite out there yet. He's going to still make $7 million this year, but does get $12 million guaranteed. This probably is the last day for a lot of fantasy football drafts. Oh, God, I knew you had a spin on this. I knew you had a spin on this.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Caleb Johnson is typically going before Jaylon Warren. I remember I was at my draft this weekend, and somebody said, Jalen Warren, I said, don't you mean Tyler Warren, the rookie tight end for Indianapolis? They're like, no, dude, Jalen Warren. I was all, yeah, I forgot about him. He's probably pretty good value still.
Starting point is 00:35:48 He's probably going to be, you know, he is the starter. So you've got, now, for people that are not familiar, Lee's in, like, how many different fantasy leagues are you in this year? I am in five. All right. And I've completed three. I got two more today. Now, we do know, based on discussions with Lee on the morning show,
Starting point is 00:36:07 two pros and a cup of Joe with Brady Quinn and Labar Arrington, who aren't here today. We do know that in having those discussions that Lee still owes his league money. No, wait. Because you were the commissioner. of the league. Everybody paid you and then you used the money they paid you with to spend on other things. Typically for my other leagues.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Okay. So I collect dues for my one league and then I use those dues to basically pay for my dues to the four other leagues. You're doing a fantasy football pyramid scheme? Basically. You know, they try to hold my feet to the, well, they don't know exactly what I'm doing, but what we were talking about doing
Starting point is 00:36:42 is taking all the buy-in money and putting it into stock. And then, you know, typically... Oh, for Christ. Lee, you got to stop. He is the burning made off of fantasy football. What is going on? Lee, you got to stop.
Starting point is 00:36:55 This is not an... It's not a get-rich plan. Everybody gets paid. It's all above board. It's not above board. Because people are asking for their money and you spend it on booze. It's not above board. Hey.
Starting point is 00:37:09 There's nothing right about this. The commission needs his fuel, man. You're going to get dragged before Congress. But you've got two other leagues you're going to be drafting in today? Yeah. Two other drafts? And for those you know, Roberto, he's got me, I told him not to do this, but he's starting my draft about a half hour into my other draft. I told him, don't do that.
Starting point is 00:37:27 It's the only time we can, fool? Yeah, exactly. That's what he said. And so, yeah, I got two basically going on at the same time, which is a problem. Wow. All right, well, at least Jaylon Warren would be available. What else we got, Lee? Well, maybe some more news for those who are interested. Tyreek Hill is not going to be a captain on the offense for the Dolphins.
Starting point is 00:37:48 He says he still has to prove himself. So quarterback Tua, center Aaron Brewer, and fullback Alec Ingold are the current captains. That'll teach him. You don't get to wear a C on your jersey. Yeah. That'll teach him. Yeah. God.
Starting point is 00:38:01 By the way, I think they had an outside linebackers coach who got arrested for a domestic dispute earlier this weekend or something like that. Like, there was that that popped up with the dolphins. Obviously, that's a different level of offense as opposed to, you know, Tyree Kill not getting a captain. announcement next to his name. But I just get this vibe that this is going to be a rough year for the dolphins. I just
Starting point is 00:38:27 get this feeling that things are going to go off the rails here in Miami. They already kind of have. But, you know, the Tyree kills stuff, they're basically raking him over the coals, trying to get him to do, oh, he's got to make nice, he's got to do this, he's got to do that.
Starting point is 00:38:44 I mean, he's been apologetic, but, you know, then there was a, a report that came out that he was talking about teammates needing to be on time. And then he was late for like stretching or something. It just feels like it's only a matter of time before Tyree Kill and the Dolphins have an issue again.
Starting point is 00:39:00 That seems to be the way things go there with him. Yeah, lots of injuries still there on the offensive side too. Yeah. Yeah. It's not an ideal spot to be in and what, you know, it's probably going to be a runaway for the Buffalo Bills in that division. That was the herd line news.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Well, that's the news. Thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News. Jonas Knox in for Colin Coward here on Fox Sports Radio. You can get me on X at the Jonas Knox, or you can follow along on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. You know, there's a front office executive in the NFL. He made a statement recently,
Starting point is 00:39:38 but he's missing the most obvious part of the issue with his organization. I'll tell you what it is next. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new? Huge news. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:40:15 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about... what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:40:31 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast.

Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio, in for the herd here. You can also find us on the IHeart Radio app. Coming up, top of the next hour, about 15 minutes from now, there are debuts. Starting point is 00:43:42 So the NFL obviously kicks off this weekend. And one of the interesting, compelling games that we're going to get to see is, you know, a couple of old friends reintroducing themselves to each other. These Steelers and the Jets. And you got two quarterbacks swapping places. Like they've swapped, you know? Aaron Rogers is now Pittsburgh Steeler. Justin Fields is now a New York jet.
Starting point is 00:44:11 And so there's been this thought that, look, Aaron Rogers started. to play better down the stretch last year, which he did. And based on the production, the Steelers have added quarterback since Ben Rothesberger retired. And probably actually, if you think about it, maybe the second year, like two years maybe before Ben Rothesberger retired, like before the last one. Because the last one, I think everybody acknowledged that he was, you know, starting to slow down and it just wasn't the same player.
Starting point is 00:44:39 But they've not had high-level production at quarterback since probably the second to last year, Ben Rutherspurger was there in Pittsburgh. And so you look at the Aaron Rogers signing for the Steelers and you go, all right, well, if they could just get that, it's a major upgrade at that position than they've gotten. And Justin Fields reportedly had a chance to go to the Pittsburgh Steelers, or stay with the Pittsburgh Steelers, sign an extension there and decided he wanted to go elsewhere because the Jets had reportedly offered him a little bit more money. And so now Justin Fields is the quarterback with the Jets. And you're hearing these reports about him struggling at training camp. And maybe it doesn't look all that good. And Aaron Glenn's got a player's only practice that they called
Starting point is 00:45:27 and everything that comes along with it a couple of weeks ago. And you've got the Jets GM, Darren Mugie, who was talking recently. And he was asked by members of the media like, hey, you know, you've seen sort of a revival for certain quarterback in the NFL, you know, guys like Baker Mayfield, guys like Sam Darnold, who have gone elsewhere and turned into the player, everybody
Starting point is 00:45:51 thought they were going to be when they were drafted high. Do you see Justin Fields being one of those guys? I do believe Justin can be one of those guys. And I like, like I just mentioned, I've seen the progress during this camp and look forward to seeing the progress throughout
Starting point is 00:46:08 the season as they all come together. Obviously, it's his third stop in three years with three different coordinators and a lot of moving parts so it does take time but I like where it's at and I look forward to watching the progress yeah so that was Jets GM Darren Moogie saying look I do feel like Justin Fields can be one of those guys I feel like he can be like a Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold the problem is Sam Darnold was a jet like that's that's a problem okay like that's I feel like you've kind of identified
Starting point is 00:46:45 one of the real issues. All right? And I know that, look, Aaron Glenn's there, brand new jets, Darren Moogie's there. It's brand new jets. I know, because we've heard this time and time again. All right, we heard it with all these different coach, GM combinations, et cetera, et cetera. But him talking about Justin Fields being another Sam Darnold,
Starting point is 00:47:08 when Sam Darnold had to become the real Sam Darnold by leaving your franchise, speaks volumes about the situation that Justin Fields is in. With Woody Johnson there, good luck. Like, good luck. Like, have fun with all that.
Starting point is 00:47:33 The Baker-Mayfield comp, I understand that that's really the one you look at and go, all right, that could be something there. But again, those guys leave those organizations because those organizations are ran poorly. Baker Mayfield left Cleveland because Cleveland turned their back on Baker Mayfield because he struggled during an injury-filled year. Like that doesn't get talked about.
Starting point is 00:48:01 He tried to play through injuries. It didn't go well. But Baker Mayfield had actually played to a high level before that. They won a playoff game with Baker Mayfield. Like he did good things in Cleveland. but they thought that Deshawn Watson was going to be the upgrade and they thought Baker Mayfield was damaged goods and said no no no we're we're up with we're finished here everything's fine
Starting point is 00:48:26 and what's ironic about that is that Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold's next stops were in the same place Carolina who also is run poorly which is why you got a lot of people going like hey man if you're Bryce Young just survive through this year and hope you get an opportunity with an organization that can develop you
Starting point is 00:48:52 the right way. Even though I like Dave Canales, I think he said, I look at the ownership, I go, that's the problem. So Darren Moogie's saying, yeah, well, we think Justin Fields could be the next. It's like, no, Baker, Mayfield, and Sam Darnold had to do that because of the organizations they were in.
Starting point is 00:49:09 And one of those organizations they were in is the organization that you work for. that's the problem so whatever Justin Fields was decision and they gave me more money and they gave me this and that okay but that's part of the issue
Starting point is 00:49:30 Baker Mayfield Sam Donald had to get away from terrible situations and it doesn't mean that Sam Donald's going to go to Seattle and he's going to continue to light it up like you know one of the other guys who had to go somewhere else to get an opportunity you know what one of those other guys is gino smith where gino smith come from oh the jets too you don't say god i feel like feel like there's a common denominator here there might be a
Starting point is 00:50:01 part of the problem feel like there's a a common thread here through this whole discussion so best luck to justin fields but the situation he's in might dictate his outcome just like it did sam Darnold and just like it did Gino Smith. Jonas Knox in for the herd here on Fox Sports Radio. And there are debuts in the world of sports. And then there's this. I'll tell you what this is next year on FSR. Hey guys, it's us and the Jonas Brothers.
