This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer,
Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band
with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Now let's get this party started. You're listening to
Fox Sports Radio.
Here we go at Tower, we're in Los Angeles.
It's the hurt.
Wherever you may be.
However, you may be listening.
Thanks for Megan has a part of your day.
You know, it's getting into late fall.
You get cloudy out there, so I wore a dark gray shirt symbolizing the American weather today.
I want to be aligned with the American weather.
Don't want to be some SoCal Fruit Fu Got out here.
just pretending it's always sunny and nice out of America.
Skies are getting gray.
It's tough football.
It's cloudy out there.
It was a balmy 68 out here in L.A. yesterday.
I wore a tank top to walk the dog in the afternoon.
Well, never worn one of those.
Congrats.
But I will say this.
I was in Chicago.
Beautiful American city this weekend.
Yeah.
Went for an hour and a half walk in Chicago.
Perfect.
You could feel off Lakeshore, off the lake.
It was by Lakeshore Drive.
The wind coming in.
Where you weren't a scarf?
I knew. I was wearing a light jacket. Puffy jacket? I don't do that either. And it was just glorious in Chicago. Now, a lot of people are intimidated by cold weather. I am not one of those people. I like heat, but I like the cool of the fall in the winter. Here at Fox football, college football, a chance for everybody in the Big Ten to get destroyed by Michigan. It's the best time of the year. You know, I'm a hand warmer guy inside the gloves. Really neat. I really need. I really.
really need this creature comforts. I keep asking you to go skiing and you won't go. You're a
hand warmer guy. Yeah, you're inviting me to your houses on the East Coast. I'm like,
eh, I like this warm weather. Let me just say this. Let's talk a little heat, the sun's last night.
So Devin Booker was great. But all I hear is the cynicism. Well, I don't know about their bench.
The hell bench. Denver had no bench last year. What do I care about bench guys? If you got a seven-man
rotation. Phoenix does. You good. Tell me the last team that had size, shooting, and smarts,
and a head coach that's won a title that wasn't really good. That's them. I get Booker. I get Beal.
I get K.D. And I get Frank Vogel who won a title. Frank Vogel keeps getting jobs for a reason.
Chemistry should be better because they moved off Aiton, who's talented, but couldn't get shots.
So I get Sise and Nerkich, U-Banks from Oregon State, KD, Wantnobie.
Booker also, by the way, at times with a point guard spot is a 6-6-6-point and impossible to defend for most point guards.
This basketball team checks way too many boxes not to be special.
I get like veteran smart guys who can shoot and understand the game.
Beal, Booker, KD, Nurkich, veteran knows how to score.
I get shooting, size, smarts, and a championship-winning coach.
Now, the downside is for the top five guys can get hurt.
Okay.
I'm not asking you to play 82 games.
Booker probably plays close to 70.
He's in his prime, 27 years old.
Beal, Nurkich, KD, give me 58.
Will you be good in May and June?
But there's all the cynicism here.
Size, smarts, shooting.
You check the boxes.
It's like the people that criticize Justin Herbert.
Big, strong, mobile, 4-2 major in biology, accurate, productive.
What do you want?
Get him a coach.
Here's Devin Booker after the win over Golden State.
This is game one, and we understand that.
We have the depth, we have the talent all the way around, and just using that.
I had it going in the first half, and we knew that they're going to throw some different type of defense at us,
and they did that down the stretch.
This is a good win for us.
I think a test like that, the first game, how we can see the energy sway and, you know, the game go back and forth.
and then tighten it up down the stretch to get a win.
It was big for us.
That dude can play.
All right.
Controversy.
Sudo-controversy.
Swirling around college football with Michigan.
I, of course, have flexible morality my entire life, and I'm very proud of it.
And talk about it because I think we all have flexible morality.
What we like, we like, and validate.
But let's bring on Joel Klatte, who does not, who is the bedrock.
of ethics and morals at this company.
And he may have a problem with me today
because I have said before,
I wake up some days on the left, on the right.
I am flexible.
I'm like Olga Corbett of morality.
I'm all over the place.
Yeah, that's fine.
You just don't have any principles, which is fine.
Yeah.
Didn't like my principle?
Don't have any?
I'm good with it.
Got it.
Okay, so let me give you my tape.
You have a great game this week.
Oregon, Utah.
Yes.
Great game.
Keep disrespecting Utah, America.
And they'll keep beating you.
That's right.
Okay.
Here's my thing on Michigan.
So there's this piece of Viti out there.
It's very grainy.
It's a sideline shot.
And Ohio State's getting ready to play.
And the Michigan players on the sideline are pointing to the sky.
It's a pass.
It was an Ohio State scored a touchdown.
That's right.
You can keep telling me as you put sandwich boards on the sideline with an alligator
and a division sign calling plays that nobody out.
here is taping games, except everybody, and everybody's in the stands. But today, I lack morals,
and I am supporting unethical Michigan. By the way, I said deflategate was wildly overstated as
well and was proven right. So tell me why I'm wrong. I don't think you're that wrong,
Although, like, I would just say, advanced scouting is not allowed.
That's the rule.
And like everybody has a street that they drive down on their commute or taking their kid to soccer practice or whatever it is, that's 25 miles an hour.
And you hate it.
And you're like, why in the world is the speed limit 25 miles an hour on this street?
Well, guess what?
It doesn't matter.
That's the speed limit.
And so if you get caught, you're going to get a ticket.
in this sense advanced scouting is illegal.
If that's what happened, and that's what's being alleged against Michigan,
then they will have to pay some sort of penalty.
I don't know what it is because there's no precedent for this, really.
How about five scholarships less for two years?
To be honest, I have no idea.
I don't know what would happen from a postseason perspective,
from a suspension perspective, from a scholarship perspective.
I have no idea.
I do know, though, that what's being alleged is not legal.
So therefore, see, I know sign stealing exists at a rampant level in college football.
Even in the pros that's still out there.
But it's harder now with the helmet stuff.
That's why they have the audio in the helmet, which I think is actually the bigger discussion about this.
Yeah, it is.
And we can get into that in just a moment.
Sign stealing is rampant.
If you're doing it in game, like more power to you.
Have at it.
You know, it's like a guy tipping his pitches or something along those lines.
That's just what the nature of it is.
Now, if you're doing it in an advanced way through technology, then it becomes more a little bit like the Astros.
And it's like you're gaining an unfair advantage over the opposition who's trying to play by the rules and you're not playing by the rules.
So what's being alleged is illegal.
And if the investigation bears that out, I just want to know four things.
One, what was collected through this quote unquote advanced scouting, who knew and when and who funded it.
And at that point, we can all make a determination about what's going to go on at Michigan in the future.
Yeah, I think this rule was created pre-Iphone.
Yes, it was.
It was created in 94.
Yeah, and I do think there is something to acknowledge that it was created when camcorders and real, like, taping and studying, not an iPhone, but be that as it may.
But what is that, I don't know how that makes a difference.
Well, it's sort of like some things that were, some rules are outdated and you know how you'll see stuff in a state.
If you walk by and sneeze near a cow in Kentucky, you'll go to jail.
And you're like, that's stupid, but it's still on the books.
There are things in life and state.
You could find them in every state.
Well, this brings up the bigger question, right?
This is the big, why are we in this scenario?
Why are we in this gray area where everyone's saying, like, no, this is actually rampant,
but no, they kind of went over the line.
So, like, well, why are we in this?
Well, we don't have audio in the helmet of the players in college football like we do in the NFL.
Yeah.
Well, why is that?
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, let's talk about why that is.
No, number one is a bad reason, but it's cost.
and the reason it's a bad reason is that we're trying to govern college football with a huge blanket, Colin.
That would be like you or me being a parent to an 18-year-old and an infant the same way.
I'm not going to give my 18-year-old a bottle with formula.
I'm just not. It's stupid.
So let's stop having a school that has a budget of $150 million, have the same rules that the school has $800,000 budget.
So cost is a bad.
Helmet liability.
They don't want to have third market, after market.
things disrupting the helmet because of warranty and liability areas and concerns. Okay. And I understand
that kind of. They don't have a collectively bargain agreement. There's more hand you,
helmet manufacturers in college football than there is in the NFL, more helmet models in
college football than there are in the NFL. So that's one of them. But then here's the major one.
And do you know why, really why we don't have audio in the helmet of the players? Coaches.
Lazy.
Lazy. No, no, no. It's not because of lazy. It's because they all.
say to each other, oh yeah, sign stealing is a problem. We need to do something about it. Then they
go to their AD and they're like, no, no, no, no, no, we sign steal. So don't change the rules,
because we're gaining an advantage. See, this is what people don't quite understand. It's like,
if coaches wanted this to change 10 years ago, it would have been changed. We would have found
a way around this. So then coaches who say one thing to each other, go to their AD and they say,
make whatever excuse possible, cost, helmet liability, whatever it is, and then it doesn't change.
So then we bring this all the way back to like, what's the fundamental reason why we're in this scenario in college football is because we don't have an overarching governing body?
We don't have a leader.
So we're constantly reacting in our sport versus being proactive in our sport.
This is why we're in this situation with NIL, transfer portal, non-conference schedules not being aligned, postseason not being aligned, all of this.
I always say it's what killed boxing.
I love boxing.
Poor government.
It's fragmented.
It's why UFC took over boxing.
It had a maverick, an outspoken leader.
All rules go through Dana White.
And when crisis hits, I'll go lease an island during COVID and we'll fight.
Boxing, how can I make the most money?
That's right.
College football and boxing, and I like college football more.
College football is a great sport.
It's poorly run.
Correct.
UFC, whether you like it or not, and I do, it's well run.
That's right.
Strident, dominating, through me, capitalistic.
You'll get paid what your value is based on your popularity.
And in college football, every entity, whether it's a singular
program or a conference or anything. They're behaving in their own best interests because that's where
the incentives lie. The same with boxing. Okay, let's get into this. Is that a little bit of a meltdown
at USC? Yeah. Okay. More than a little bit. Yeah. So you and I acknowledged about three weeks ago,
we thought they were the third best team in the Pack 12. It so happens they may be seventh. We just don't
know. So I'm still on the Caleb Williams's great train. I think like a Josh Allen, Justin Herbert,
I still see the same talent. I don't see the support system.
Is it, and I'll say this, when Pete Carroll was at USC, they were more physical than SEC teams.
They would go into Auburn and push Auburn.
That's right.
They would go into anywhere in the SEC.
They'd score 70 on Arkansas.
They didn't care.
Remember they hammered Oklahoma and that BCS championship game.
They would go to physical programs and humiliate them physically.
Bob Stoop saying they're way bigger, faster, stronger in person.
That was the rule.
Wait, do you get them in person.
That's what we say about the SEC now.
That's right.
That's what they're saying about Michigan now.
That's right.
Wait to you see him in person.
Since he left, Lane, Sark, Lincoln,
there's a toughness that lacks.
Flashy, fun, fat.
They are small.
They don't tackle well.
How many times over the last 10 years do I have to hear they don't tackle well?
How many years do I have to hear about they can't stop a backup quarterback?
At some point,
which by the way is harder in the West Coast,
because the weather's good.
Who wants to tackle?
We got the surf.
We got the beautiful people.
We got the palm trees.
We don't tackle out here.
Like we don't, we don't, we don't eat meatloaf, we don't tackle.
This is not a tough part of the country.
Pete brought physicality to the conference.
By the way, and then Harbaugh followed Pete by bringing physicality the conference.
Sure.
And you look at who's playing well right now, Utah has won it back to back years.
Oregon, SEC coach.
That's right.
So I think that you are correct.
Now, there's more alarming things that are showing up on the film for USC other than just
like personnel deficiencies.
Like the defensive film for USC is alarming in the sense that they're misaligned.
They don't react to the motions and formations and movement correctly, and they're way out
of assignment.
Like for example, on the Bryson Barnes touchdown run.
This is a third string quarterback.
Well, and to his credit, I mean, he's got some toughness and everything, but when you look
at some of the ways that they scored on your screen right now is a wheel route from the running back,
he's not even touched.
Why?
because they've got a defensive end and coverage against the running backs.
It's like, hold on, we can't do that.
On one of the quarterback sneaks, or not sneak, draw for a touchdown,
they were in an empty formation, so all the running backs out of the backfield.
And USC literally had only two defenders inside the tackle box.
Well, it's a walk-in.
I mean, you can't defend that way.
And the motion, man, he doesn't insert himself.
They're constantly outside of their gaps and misaligned and missed a,
missing assignments.
That's the bigger issue.
And then the other part is, I think that there's a real frustration on some when it comes
to the aggression of the defensive calls at inopportune moments.
Yes.
They're calling blitzes when you should be playing much less intense defense.
Let me give you an example.
Okay, so last week on the last offensive player, one of the last offensive plays,
The Scramble by Utah.
There's 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter, and you have a one point.
lead or two point lead, whatever it was, two point lead. Field goal is going to beat you,
and they're not in field goal range. And your goal at that point is to do a couple of things.
One is you're not trying to create a play defensively. You're trying to prevent a play
offensively. And so you've got to play zone at that point. It has to be a zone coverage so that
you can tackle right away. You can get the ball out of the quarterback's hands and tackle right
way in order to force a 50-plus-yard field goal. They played man coverage with no spy on the
quarterback, rushed four who got out of their lanes, and the quarterback just swiftly ran around
the end. Essentially the opposite of what Nick Saban would have done. And just beats everybody.
There's everyone running in man coverage with their guy, and I'm like, hold on. It's one thing
if you're playing a great quarterback and great wide receivers, and maybe you've got to try to stay
sticky and play man coverage. This is Utah. This is not a great passing team. And in fact,
the one thing that you've really got to be aware of is the quarterback's
scramble, which is what he then ran because of the aggressive play call.
That's the frustrating part is that the schematics for USC's defense right now are really lacking.
You're very good today.
Hey, by the way, Big Noon kickoff is up double digits.
Not going to get into stuff, but the other place, down 4%.
No reason to talk about it.
But nonetheless, Big Noon kickoff has been so good from the day it was created.
But what makes it even better is they hand off to the clats.
There we go.
And he and Gus are all over Ohio State and Penn State.
And we kind of called what the game would look like.
You call what it would look like.
I will say this is that I think I'm being too hard on Ohio State.
And I'm like, yeah, I don't like this, this, this, this, this.
Just take out Michigan.
And they've beaten everybody in the country's pants off except Georgia.
And they should have beaten Georgia because they outplayed Georgia.
That's true.
So I watched this week.
And I'm like, God, this is awful.
This is boring.
And I'm like, it's Penn State.
It's at home they dominated.
That was a good win.
That was a great win.
And by the way, they did it without three of their top five players on their roster.
I mean, they won a top 10 game without their best running back, their second best wide receiver, and their top cover corner.
Maserati, Marvin was there, though.
Marv was great.
And so let me give you an analogy.
You love analogies.
And we're in the postseason now.
We're about to start the World Series right here on Fox.
What did Mariano Rivera?
What made Mariano Rivera great?
What made Trevor Hoffman great?
What made Randy Johnson great?
They had a pitch.
They had an out pitch.
And when push came to shove, you knew you were going to see it.
They knew they were throwing it and they still delivered.
Ohio State had an out pitch on Saturday.
And Penn State didn't.
They either didn't have it or didn't know that they had it and didn't throw it.
Marvin Harrison Jr. got 16 targets in that game.
Again, no Trevion Henderson, no Omecca, Abuka.
They were going to go to number 18 early and often, and they did.
And so what the game plan looked like when you go,
Go back to the film. He was lined up on the ball, off the ball, to the three receiver side, to the single receiver side. They used him in screen passes. They used him down the field. They used him as a decoy at times. They got him the ball all the time. Push came to shove, third down to close out the game. Who's getting the ball? Marvin Harrison, Jr. That's what I love about what Ryan Day and Ohio State did with Marvin Harrison Jr. There's a reason why this guy should be in the Heisman Trophy Love is because everybody knew. You really think Penn State didn't sit with me on Friday?
and say like, yeah, you know, we think he's good, but yeah, it's all right.
We won't really pay attention.
What do they say to you?
Their entire defensive structure was about where's 18 and how do we cover him?
That's it.
And he still went off.
How about this?
You and I make a bit of a push here.
Let's give it to the kid.
I've seen enough quarterbacks.
He is the most feared player in college football.
Yeah.
I mean, last year when they played Georgia, he gets ding.
Remember that?
That's right.
It's like, okay, the game feels different.
Yeah.
And Kirby would probably.
admit, like if he stays on the field.
They beat him. Probably it goes a different way.
Now, it didn't. So you got to, there's a couple
of guys out there that have this threat.
Caleb has this threat. Marvin has this
threat, Brock Bowers. Now, it just
so happens that Williams does not have a great supporting
cast, nor good defense, and Bowers
is hurt. So you bring up something interesting.
I actually think when it comes to the
Heisman, folks, it's about path
and stages. All right? And right now,
if you actually look at the year and
what everyone's going to have to go through and the
path that they have and the stages that they have,
It is not out of the question that when we get to Thanksgiving week,
the actual guys that are going to be the top two in the Heisman Trophy
will be McCarthy and Harrison facing off against each other
and winner might win the Heisman Trophy.
I think that that's almost a likely scenario.
So I don't need to pump this up, but I'm sure college football fans know this,
but there is no doubt the most underrated coach in the country is at Utah,
and it's the most underrated program.
Oh, no doubt.
So we give USC all this love, Utah owns them.
We give Oregon love.
Utah's beating him two or three, beat him last year.
So they're going to play again this weekend.
It's high-powered offense at Oregon.
It's top one or two defense in Utah.
It's at Utah.
I should go to that game.
You should because it's going to be amazing.
And by the way, it is the most underrated, not only program,
atmosphere in college football and one of the toughest places to win.
In fact, in fact, folks, this is what Oregon's going to deal with,
with Bo Nix and experienced guy,
55th start, by the way, on Saturday. Utah has won their last 27 at home with fans in the stands.
The last time they lost was during COVID. I don't count it. I don't count that.
When you actually talk about an environment at Rice Eccles Stadium, they've won 27 in a row at home.
That's what Oregon's walking into.
I think about going to that game.
You should.
You need a spotter?
No, but you should go anyways.
Who do you use as a spotter?
Not you.
So is he good with details because I'm terrible at him.
It's going to be great, man.
And you're right about Kyle Whittingham.
Oh, my God.
Kyle Whittingham is one of the best coaches in America.
You know how lucky, Utah knows how lucky they are?
A program in this country that has had three great coaches in a row is Utah.
Because remember Urban was there?
And then Anderson, was Ron Anderson, the coach of Utah forever?
Is he right before Urban?
To be honest, I'm not sure.
They've had three or four great coaches.
Winningham has been there through that, that whole thing.
He was the defensive coordinator for Urban.
And by the way, you know him.
Talk about a rock-solid guy.
Now, there's a little principles.
I love Kyle. I love Kyle.
He has morals and principles.
I shouldn't say this, and this is not going to be a knock to other coaches.
But there are only a few that I would feel really comfortable letting my son go play for.
Kyle's one of them.
Yeah, my son doesn't like football.
But your son, you would let him go play for him.
Yeah, I would.
I mean, that's just the highest compliment I can pay you.
I would love to have played for you or I would let my son play for you.
He can handle divas.
So it would be okay.
So it would fit for us?
That's a nice thing to say about him.
Well, I mean, it's true.
It's true.
Because I wanted to have your son as an intern.
You wouldn't let him near me.
No, not a chance.
Not a chance.
Morally flexible is the future.
Definitely not for Acho.
Maybe you, definitely not Acho.
Okay, this guy's got a top 10.
Let's look at it.
Michigan, Ohio.
I don't even care past two.
The fact that it's Michigan, Ohio State, it's fantastic.
Well, I moved Georgia down because they don't have bowers.
It's not the same team.
Ohio State has the best.
resume in the country now, so they should be one, but they can't beat Michigan in the last two years,
and Michigan looks dominant. Michigan's the only one in the top 10 that never struggles.
Pennix and Washington have to get a pick six late against Arizona State. Texas needs a bad
spot against Houston. I mean, think about the Oklahoma, UCF had a two-point conversion to try to
tie. Penn State loses. What network has the Big Ten? Oops, it's ours. Those two teams right now are the
best two teams in the country. Okay, the Joel Clatt, by the way, he has a podcast. So does everybody,
but Class is great.
It is. A college football podcast. It's just fantastic. And you do a really good job on that.
He has a studio. It's got lighting. You are very old. Imagine that.
We have a microphone. You know what the thing about you is that the audience, you can tell because of your broadcast.
You are the most organized person. Basically, if you're on television, you're a wacko and you're crazy, except Clat and Rob Stone.
I like that. I like being grouped with Stoner. Burckhardt's pretty reliable. Burkhardt is very
Nice. But me and Gus, we're going to throw stuff out there. It's a little sideways.
You know, sometimes you just got to be ready for anything. You just, like, that's how it's going to be.
All right. Love listening to you guys. Yeah, but I appreciate that. You should go to the game.
That's going to be a fantastic game. Probably best of the day, Oregon, Utah.
We'll have the best game of the day again. I have a great parlay for you this weekend.
Thanks to Draft King's Sportsbook. Let's have some fun. New users, please use the code heard.
When you download the app, it takes about 90 seconds max to download it. Now my parlay picks
of the week via Draft King Sportsbook.
Jags minus two and a half at the Steelers.
I like Pittsburgh, but they've been outgained in every game.
Jaguars are a bit undervalued.
I think they win by about a field goal to four points.
I'll take the Jags.
Saints plus one and a half at the Colts.
Derek Carr's been struggling.
He's hearing about it.
There's too much talent not to beat a backup.
Colts come on of a very, very trying, difficult, physical game against Cleveland.
I think they pull back. I'll take the Saints plus one and a half.
49ers at home minus five and a half against the Bengals. I like Cincinnati, but they're winning
and being outplayed. Forty-niners in a bad mood after two road losses, come home and lean on
them. I'll take the Niners by about 10. Jags, Saints, Niners. You want to take the herd parlay.
Check out Draft King Sportsbook. New users, the code is heard. H-E-R-D. When you download the app, have some fun.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full.

10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.

A win is a win.
A win is a win. I don't care
which I'm saying. Yep,
that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions,
my journey from basketball to college
football, or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way,
this platform became bigger than I ever,
ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you
behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about
life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a
space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing
something bigger. So if you've ever
supported me or you're just chasing down a dream,
this is right where you need to be.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind
the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network

Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye
said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're
thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the look back.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but yeah, yeah, literally.
But just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Boy, Joel Clad is really good.
Big Noon kickoffs, great, by the way.
I said very few TV shows ever are good right out of the shoot.
It takes a long time for shows to get the chemistry and get it right.
Momentum.
Big noon's been great the first day it was on, and it's having a huge year.
And Michigan, Ohio stayed at the top of the food chain and college is great.
And Klatte really discussed that Michigan situation beautifully, articulately.
Me, I'm all emotion on that thing.
And I think it's nonsense.
I think you go to every state in the country and there's stuff on the books that we just roll our eyes at and that's silly.
But, you know, it probably is a law.
and I think the idea of watching an iPhone and having signals, it give me a break.
But, you know, if it's illegal, as Clatt said, it'll be some punishment if they find out there's advanced scouting.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Less than a week away from the NFL trade deadline.
Some people looking at improving their rosters for a Super Bowl run, the Eagles made the first move with Kevin Byard, adding
to the secondary. Jerry Jones was asked how the Cowboys will approach the deadline.
It'll have to come our way. I don't want to preclude it in any way, but it always does.
The initiation of an opportunity to make a trade at this time that would help us.
Principally has to start over on the other end. That's not showing a lack of aggressiveness.
It's just that's where it starts. I like where we are with our personnel today.
And so I'm not thinking in any way that we need to upgrade our roster.
I have areas of the team that we could, if certain circumstances happen, that you might improve.
That your best chance to get it done is when it comes by you and you grab it.
Yeah, I don't think there's a move they could make.
I do think they're very reliant.
Dak is very reliant on CD-Lam and to his credit, he goes to CD-LAM a lot.
So I don't think the Gallup thing has ever been materialized post injury.
They lost Dalton Schultz, the tight end.
So I just kind of feel like they need.
If C.D. Lamb twist, ask yourself this.
You're warm.
C.D. Lamb twists an ankle. What's the offense?
Okay. So you're on to something.
We do occasional hot takes around here, right?
But informed. Love them.
Backed up.
Where's Dallas's biggest struggle offensively, Colin?
Well, there are all lines pretty good.
In the Red Zone, remember?
How about tight end?
They could use more production.
They could use a tight end.
But in the Red Zone, they have struggled to get touchdown.
Is Tony Pollard a thumpper?
No.
I don't think he's in between the tackles guy.
Tennessee Titans started to unload with Kevin Byard.
They've got a nice backup in the young kid Spears who caught that screen pass.
He's a really bouncy player.
What if Tennessee says, Derek Henry, you had a great run?
And Dallas says, well, damn, we can add Derek Henry?
Well, how many years left in his deal?
How long you got to pay them for?
That's the front office's job to dive deep in the contract, how much you got to pay it?
I don't think it's a bad idea.
And you think, well, damn, San Francisco looks a little susceptible.
Detroit, we're not fearing them.
Eagles, they got a tough defensive line, but we've got to win in the Red Zone.
We've got to get touchdowns, not field goals.
They're moving the ball.
They're not getting...
Do you kick the tires on Derek Henry and say, listen.
I think that's actually one of your smartest takes ever.
That's not a hot take.
That's not even a mildly warm take.
If Tennessee is...
unloading stuff, which they are just, they don't even know who they're going to start this week
at quarterback. They're like, will Levis? No, it sounds like it's going to be Levinvin. I mean, they don't,
they don't know what they're doing. The bottom line is they are going to be bad, probably getting
their quarterback or so I think that's actually a very smart take. That's exact. They could use a
thumper also. It makes them less reliant on DAC. They're always better with a lead playing
downhill than they are coming from behind. So this gives them time of possession advantages,
red zone advantages, less reliance on DAC advantages.
I actually think it's a great tale.
And McCarthy has said, we want to run the football.
Remember in the off-season?
We want to run the ball.
Not all this throwing.
We need to rest our defense.
Derek Henry solves a lot of those problems.
Now he's not going to come cheap.
But if you're Jerry Jones, and what was the last time they went to a Super Bowl?
Like almost 30 years ago?
It's been forever.
It's not a terrible take a look at Derek Henry.
Yeah, shoot high, right?
You know, if you go look at the big swings teams that may be it,
Farr, or Aaron Rogers, if you look at the big swings people make on aging stars, you almost always
get a pop for a year or two.
Almost always.
There's no question that when Farr was in Minnesota, he took the franchise to a new level.
When you go for the big pop on the aging receiver, the aging back or quarterback, the
question is, always just don't get trapped with a contract.
But it almost always pays off initially.
Stars are stars and there are very few of them.
So Derek Henry to Dallas, you know this year and probably,
probably next year, it would benefit them.
If the money's right, I would kick the tires on it.
I think it's really a good idea.
Okay, that's what we do around here.
All right, next up, you're going to love this.
So the trade deadline obviously is going to be very, very interesting.
Reports indicate that the Broncos will not be having a fire cell,
but they'll listen to offers on anyone, Colin.
It continues to sound like they want to move on from one player in particular
after an anonymous GM said Sean Peyton would quote,
Trade Russell Wilson right now if there was a market for him.
And I had a discussion with somebody in the league that I think is very not only in the know, but very smart.
And they said to me in the last 72 hours, what was your initial reaction, Colin, when Russell Wilson or when Sean Peyton signed
this was four days ago, not three.
What day is that today? Wednesday? Okay. Saturday.
What was your initial reaction when Sean Payton signed with Denver?
Was it great move or, oh boy, he's got to make that work?
He said, didn't you initially think Chargers better fit?
And then there were three other teams you thought Washington new ownership.
he said the question was with Denver,
if the Russell thing didn't work, you were trapped.
And smart coaches generally don't want to be trapped with goofy owner, bad contract.
He said, it had a trapped feel to it if you couldn't get it right.
And so this person Saturday I talked to, I told you I went for a two-hour walk.
I was on the phone.
And this person said, your initial reaction to that move was what?
And I'm like, kind of surprised, but they were very well.
wealthy owners. So what's happening is now in the building, Sean realizes he's a bit trapped.
So your initial feeling about a move, whether you're a fan, a media person, your gut feeling
on stuff. It's generally, it's thin slicing, but it's kind of on target. Like, is that going to work?
Does that make sense? Now, a lot of times people solve problems.
Right. But it's my initial take was, why didn't he wait for Herbert? Why did he leave Fox? Because I had
dinner with Sean, he loved Fox. He loved being here. He loved Manhattan Beach.
I thought Bradshaw had an interesting take that the Chargers didn't want to pay, Peyton.
They've been notoriously cheap. That was Terry Monday in our show, said that.
Well, that's bad news if you want, Chargers fans are waiting for Jim Harbin.
They haven't historically paid their coaches.
At some point, you've got to, you know, go out of character here.
I did write down some teams where Russell Wilson could get dealt to, obviously not at the deadline.
Let me hear this. But in the off season. Okay.
These are teams that don't have a quarterback or have a quarterback question.
Let's start with Belichick in New England.
Belichick coming back.
We know that.
He doesn't like that big fact.
He wanted Brady to take pay cuts, no way.
Okay.
If the Tennessee Titans are not bad enough to draft a quarterback in the top like eight.
They've been trapped with Tannahill's contract.
They don't want to be trapped again.
Seems unlikely, but there's now a quarterback controversy between Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones.
Does Brian Dable say both these guys are?
He's already overpaying for a quarterback.
He doesn't want to overpay for another one.
Sean Payton's got a problem.
A couple more.
The Washington commanders, Sam Howell is, bleh.
They're not going to be like one of the eight top eight picks.
Well, the problem being is you're going to hire a new coach.
And if you have Russell and the contract, would that offensive coach say,
I just watch Sean Payton with that guy that didn't work?
And I'm like, I'm a kid.
Okay.
That's a legend.
He couldn't make it work.
Very unlikely.
Don't say Seattle.
It's not going on.
No, no, they're not on you.
Green Bay Packers.
No.
Well, Jordan Love's done there.
We know that.
He ain't the guy.
Anybody who's watching.
Okay, no, timeout.
Let me rethink this.
Now, we're just saying of all the ones you've listed.
So it's interesting.
They're not paying Dobbs, Watson, two rookie tight ends, and they're going to draft
the next box tiari.
So the only person they're spending money now is Aaron Jones.
That's the only guy they're spending money on offensively.
Yeah, the defense is supposed to be good.
It just hasn't performed to the level of the talent.
They have talent, man.
I've been hearing about Green Bay's defensive talent for seven years.
I think he had like six first round.
So the one thing where it works with Green Bay is, Detroit's better.
Minnesota's going to reboot and has an offensive coach.
Chicago's going to get a star potentially Drake, May or Caleb?
You want to drag your feet, or do you want Russell in the building?
By the way, would Denver pay some of the deal?
Just to move off?
Just to move off.
And remember, Green Bay's been spoiled of like 20 plus years of Farvin Rogers.
You can't go into a wasteland now with Jordan Love and we don't know what we're doing.
So Russell will be a Band-Aid bridge.
If Denver would pay some of it, I'm paying no.
Nobody on that offense right now except Aaron Jones.
That's it.
So there are just three more quick ones.
The Minnesota Vikings, if they're not, they're moving on.
Cousins and his is not staying.
Vikings fans, sorry.
I know.
But they already feel like they'd like to get cheaper at quarterback and go by players.
Atlanta Falcons, they're going to keep getting mentioned.
Nobody trusts Ritter.
Taylor Heineke.
It's second to Green Bay because they're not paying anybody on offense.
And finally, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Baker ain't the guy. Sorry, guys. He's not. He's a backup. They're going to start fading here.
They've got some expensive pieces there.
Like, they've got, I mean, that roster is pretty darn good in Tampa.
I think they need to get cheap at quarterback to make it.
If you want to keep Good one.
If you want to keep Mike Evans. If you want to keep Mike Evans, if you want to keep some of those guys, can't do a Russell's contract.
The Green Bay one actually makes a little bit of sense.
If Denver would pay a bunch of it and you're like, could we do a deal to get Russell for two years with Matt Lafleur?
give Matt Lafleur an extension to let Matt know we love you
we're going to experiment for a year and a half to two years with this
if Denver eats half the con or whatever Denver could
I don't know what that number is
all right final story to the NBA tonight I told you how excited I am for
Wembe's debut look at Victor Wembenyama
he plays tonight against my guy
Luca Donchich and the mats I saw a post on IG
Wembenyama's up 19 pounds since the draft I saw you told me that
he doesn't look as thin as he did on draft night now he looks wiry
in these highlight videos.
But I'm just telling you,
end of the preseason, bro,
he was doing things at both ends.
Like this, the excitement is capable.
In the preseason,
he averaged 195 and almost three blocks a game.
He said he hopes to play every single game this year.
I'm assuming Popovich has other ideas.
I did bet Wembenyama pretty long shot
to win defensive player of the year.
I think there's a world where the media falls in love with him.
What's the odds?
I saw 21 to 1.
So not bad.
odds. A little more than Pids a money. It'd be a great story in the NBA awards. They love stories.
They love stories. Whenbenyama's a great story. He's clearly the future of this league.
Like, like rookie of the you can bet, but the odds aren't as good. So DPOY for Wenbanyama,
I'm very, I have to coach girls soccer today. I'm going to have like the phone on and

Start Saturday Strong with Big Noon Saturday on Fox. Dylan Gabriel leads the sixth ranked Sooners in a showdown on the road against the Jayhawks.
It all starts with Big Noon kickoff at 10 a.m. live from Lawrence.
Then it's Oklahoma, Kansas. Noon Eastern on Fox.
Be careful, Oklahoma.
Upset alert.
Be careful.
Upset alert.
Kansas, not only go to basketball now.
Okay, so earlier today, you never want a promise you can't deliver on.
You get in big trouble.
So I told you I had a great little nugget about the Arizona Diamondbacks.
And I saw it last night on that stupid X thing.
And then I gave it to the staff and I said, I swear to God, it's true.
And the staff's like, they look for like an hour.
And they're like, it's kind of disputable.
And I was like, all right.
Well, here's what's not disputable.
Bryce Harper didn't deliver.
Game six and seven.
It came down to this.
The Phillies big hitters, Trey Turner, Harper, Schwabber.
Castiano's couldn't.
They were one for 28.
I watched last night.
Arizona's pitching.
One, two, three, one, two, three.
Go to the pen.
They didn't hit.
Does it bum me out?
Yeah, because I really,
really, really think Bryce Harper is good for baseball.
I've said there's three people that get me to a TV.
I talked Shohei Otani.
I talked six, seven segments this year on him.
Aaron, Judge of the Yankees.
I mean, it looks like Paul Bunyan and plays like him.
And then Bryce Harper.
But this series came down.
The bank was closed last night once you got in the later innings.
As Arizona's pitching was great.
Baseball is so hard to predict.
I remember when I used to work at the other place, you'd go to the postseason predictions.
And I'm talking about people like Buster Only and Tim Kirkson.
These guys really know their stuff.
You know, Peter Gammon's.
It was all these legendary guys.
And you'd look at their postseason predictions.
And it was like, you're flipping coins.
Guys go down.
Guys can't hit.
Some of the greatest players ever have gone into a series.
And Barry Bonds, when he was in Pittsburgh, all of a sudden you go to a playoff series.
You're like, where'd he go?
Arod with the Yankees.
They drop them to eight in the order.
It's like what happened.
You know, NBA, if you got your stars,
unless somebody really gets hurt, they deliver.
In the NFL, Mahomes is going to be good.
In baseball, your batting order can dry up if the pitching's right.
There's weird momentum in baseball where teams get hot at the end of a year
and play well above themselves for three weeks.
And so there's your story.
Games six and seven, you know, they go back home and they just can't hit.
And so I had what I thought off that stupid X,
I had what I thought was the greatest little nugget in baseball history that would ever be delivered
on a cable television network.
And my staff searched for an hour, found it, did homework on it because I was hosting the show.
And then they said in my ear like 10 minutes ago, it's just too disputable.
And there's none, it's not enough concrete and stop believing anything on that crazy app.
And so I promise they didn't deliver, but either did Bryce Harper.
So, I mean, like, I'm in a good, you know, territory on this.
So it happened, Jay Matt.
Quick breaking news, NFL.
What?
Kevin Stefansky has announced that PJ Walker will start this week for the Browns.
In Seattle.
In Seattle.
So listen, if you were listening first hour, we talked about this.
We liked Seattle this week.
It was two and a half.
That's not going to be two and a half.
It's three and a half now.
You've got to watch all three hours, folks.
You got to lock in.
Deshawn Watson out.
PJ Walker.
PJ Walker. Hey, and this Seattle defense, I'm not kidding. They're real.
This kid, Wetherspoon, the kid from Illinois in the second year.
He's nasty. I mean, they are good. I'm worried.
Corner's the one position in football, the whole position. You can come into the league in like 10
games in. You're like, that guy's the top five. Christian Gonzalez, Patriots.
By the way, Sauce Gardner. There's something about Corner. You can either man up or you can't.
Like, Sauce Gardner's six games in. You're like, he's a top two corner. Patrick Sertan early.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, this Witherspoon kid, wow, hit her too.
Hour 3 is smoking next.
