This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

On The Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

It's the herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening.
Thanks for making us part of your day.
My mic's not working, by the way, I don't know if you guys can fix this, but it's not working.
Joel Clad will be on in about five minutes.
You know, I was thinking about this.
There we go.
That we were talking about how good the Niners are.
Go look.
I said, if you take their top ten players, five.
Five are Hall of Fame talents, four or Pro Bowl talents, and then Ward.
You know what's really impressive about this?
Look at the different ways they acquired guys.
John Lynch, the GM, former Fox guy, covered him in Tampa.
They get Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams.
They get those guys in trades.
Hargrave and Ward were free agents.
Brandon Ayuk's an early pick.
Nick Bosa's an early pick.
George Kittles, a late.
pick. They've been able to assemble this. Brock Purdy is the ultimate late pick. They've got
trades. They've got free agents. They've got early picks they've hit on. They've hit on home runs on
late picks. That's always been the disadvantage to the Green Bay Packers. They have to draft
and develop very well because they don't get top free agents. They just don't. Players mostly don't
a playing Green Bay.
So you could just take the bar stool, take a leg off for Green Bay.
They don't do free agents.
And they also, because they don't have an owner, rarely take a big swing on a trade.
So, I mean, think about when you have Aaron Rogers and Brett Farr, how many years did
those guys start combined?
And you got two Super Bowls.
And it's like you underach.
Green Bay is well run.
We think, oh, they're well run.
But they've kind of underachieved.
If you have Farrvin Rogers, you should host more than two trolle.
fees. You should hoist more than two Lombardies, right? So it's like what's great about San Francisco,
they're attractive to free agents, they'll make, take big swings on trades, they hit home runs
late in the draft, and then predictably like most teams, they can nail early picks. And they don't
hit on all of them. I mean, again, they picked a running back out of Utah didn't work. A D. Lyman
out of Stanford wasn't a home run. Trey lands didn't work. I mean, they don't hit on all of them.
But that's why the Internet's useless.
Nobody's perfect.
This is the best roster in the league, and they've had several big misses.
Trey Lance was a big miss.
That's okay.
Nobody bats 1,000.
Derek Jeter hit 300, legend.
Like, it's okay.
You can sit in the internet all day.
San Francisco's had huge misses.
All right.
But their ability to accumulate talent, like on different ways is, you know,
there's just certain, Cincinnati, by the way, historically, won't play around in the draft.
They have their picks.
make their picks, there they go. San Francisco is playing around, moving up, moving down.
If you want to create a roster like this, you've got to take big swings, you've got to be
able to move around in the draft, you got to make big. I remember when Christian McCaffrey
ends up. Remember how many people criticize that move? Because they gave up a bunch of draft picks.
That looks like the steel of the decade. And most people didn't like it. Now, we said on the show,
it's like giving Picasso an open canvas, given Kyle Shanahan that kind of chess piece, in our
opinion was, that's a home run. That's what you do. You give McVeigh, Andy Reid, a chess piece.
It's like, they're going to make it work. So San Francisco's impressive. So,
um, Joel Klatz coming on. There is a lot to talk about. But I might as well just spill the beans
right now. I got a call from a very important person. And he invited me to the husky duck game in
the Pacific Northwest this weekend. I conton to.
Complated it for about a second and said, I'll accept your invitation.
So that headlines an unbelievable weekend to college football.
We bring on Joel Clout, the voice of college football for Fox.
I'm not going to say it was the governor who called me.
Yeah, it was my friend.
But it is, for the record.
Very important.
I think we both agree with this.
USC's the third best team in that conference.
These are the two best teams.
Yeah, no, I would agree with that.
I mean, that's what the ranking suggests.
And I certainly believe that as well.
Oregon's probably the most balanced team.
Yes.
And then Washington has this rare ability to be, I think, the scariest team out there just because
of how high end their passing game can be.
This passing game for Michael Pennix, I was actually talking about this on my show earlier
this week.
Colin, he's a great passer of the football, Michael Pennix, Jr.
And there's a difference.
We always talk about throwers.
Oh, you know, he can make every throw.
He's got great armed talent.
This is how we talk about it in the drafts, so on.
so forth. Penix, yes, can do all those things, but he's also a great passer, like a great point
guard. If you actually watch him play, the leverage with which he delivers the ball is always the
proper leverage away from the defender, communicating with his ball placement. It's away from
defense in terms of what the structure of the defense is. He's always giving his guy a chance to win.
It's not just highlights either. It's like you watch his game tape and every throw is leveraged
properly and that's why they're so good. They've got great weapons on the outside.
Three NFL receivers, three. I looked at a mock draft yesterday, two first round,
one third round. And McMillan's coming back. And he's one of those guys that got Polk,
McMillan, Adonzee. They're really, really good. But, but Oregon's super balanced and probably
overall a better team. But if they can win up there in that environment, that remains to be seen.
Yeah, Otson's the loudest stadium in the Pack 12. Washington is second. Yeah. So,
So it is an advantage.
Now, I just saw a stat today in the NFL that home field advantage in the NFL is down to
about a point to a point in a half because teams now travel so much better.
The players are more rest rid hydrated.
And secondly, you can put stuff through the helmet now.
Quarterbacks can hear the crowd.
So the NFL home field doesn't mean nearly as much as it did when we grew up in college
to take a 20-year-old and put him in Husky Stadium.
Massive.
It is gigantic.
It's massive.
And you're right on all accounts.
I talk with college football coaches, they'll talk about how difficult it is to just win on the road,
period. It can be, you know, Washington was in a one possession game with Arizona. Why, it's on the road.
You know, you see the Ohio State Notre Dame, part of what made that such a great win for Ohio State is that it was on the road.
You see how difficult it was for Notre Dame to win at Duke. And then Louisville the next week,
they go out there and basically get blown out. That's why it's going to be so difficult for Oregon.
Here's something to just pay attention to early in the game. If I'm Dan Landing, I'm going to go out,
there and take the ball as quickly as I can. Normally people defer the toss. If you win the toss,
if you're the Oregon Ducks, take the ball, try to quiet the crowd and then limit the possessions
that Michael Pinnock's gets. This is what Arizona did. And this is what they can do with a run game
that's averaging 220 yards per game. Like, they can run the ball at Oregon. They play solid defense.
And their quarterback, Bo Nix, I have him in my top six in the Heisman trophy. He might not be
the high-end talent that Pinnix is. But boy, as far as a game manager and
an operator and playing with efficiency.
This guy's at the top of the list.
The ball comes out on time and on target.
He makes plays with his legs.
Franklin's a really clever receiver.
This is as good a matchup as you'll get in college football, right?
We'll have Penn State, Ohio State next week.
This is right there with that type of matchup.
The winner of this game is a true, without a doubt,
national championship caliber team.
Biggest game in the Northwest in a long time.
there's no surprise that I was called and asked to a visit.
I mean, some would say you were begged to come up there and visit.
I would say that, but nobody else would.
Okay.
I'll back you up.
I think you and I agree.
You get to week four or five in college football.
And then there are just things that are true.
Ohio State's O-line, not great.
USC's defense can't tackle.
A lot of that, in my opinion, is they're asking safeties and corners to make too many tackles.
That's right.
So what's happening is big back, big tight end, breaks a tackle from a 190 pound corner.
I think the reality is Notre Dame this weekend, I thought was a really good matchup for USC.
I think they beat teams with good defenses and a limited offense.
I think they lose to teams like Washington or a team like a Michigan that can drop 40.
But now the weather, 25-mile-an-hour win, raining.
Raining sideways.
USC could be in trouble here.
That weather is built for Notre Dame.
No doubt, no doubt.
And in particular, when you're looking at a defense,
USC's strength defensively, if they have one,
is getting after the passer.
Okay, they can get to the pass.
They got 22 sacks.
That's third in the country.
The problem is, is that when you strip away their sack numbers,
those of you that don't know,
and if you just are in the NFL space,
in college, for some dumb reason,
they take the sack numbers
and put them into the rushing numbers.
So if you get negative yards
because you're getting sacked, then that goes against your rushing yards. Well, same with
rush defense, right? So sacks count for your rushing defense. If you strip the sacks out of USC's defense,
they don't defend a run either. They do not. In fact, they're 106th in the country defending the
run. And now you're going into a place where there's 25 mile an hour wins, there's rain sideways,
and then estimate on the other side, a quality offensive line on the other side with a couple of guys
that could be first round. All certainly a first rounder. Well, Joe Alt-Lock left tackles a top 10 pick.
And like this is not a good matchup for USC at all.
Not in a rain store.
No.
You put it on a dry turf, 74 degrees, I take USC.
Sure.
I literally look at that rain forecast Tuesday and I'm like, oh, USC's in trouble.
The other part of this that I don't think we've talked enough about with USC
because we center so much of the conversation either around Caleb Williams or the defense.
That's what we talk about with USC.
And yet, what we've missed is in the last couple of weeks when they haven't been themselves on the offensive side of the ball,
they've been missing that sensational true freshman Zachariah Branch.
Oh, he is, he really changes the offense.
A hundred percent.
And what you saw last week against Arizona was a wide receiver core that could not get open
against man coverage.
They did not have Branch.
They missed him.
He's been practicing.
It's unclear whether he's going to play in this game.
Obviously, the conditions won't lend itself to a guy trying to come back like that.
But if he's not on the field, then Notre Dame has the advantage in a major way.
The only thing that I would point to from the Trojans' perspective is that Notre Dame is at the tail end of what has been a bit of a gauntlet over the last four weeks.
Ohio State, Duke, Louisville, two of those on the road.
Win one of them, lose two of them, and now all of a sudden you've got to come right back and play at a high level.
All right.
Texas, Oklahoma.
So first of all, I thought Oklahoma had a better game plan.
They got blown out last year.
They played with a chip.
I thought they were smart, not as many turnovers.
But in the end, I'm like, okay, Texas lost on the final play.
They butcher that first and goal.
They had three turnovers.
If they played again, I'd take Texas.
And so are the odds makers.
But in the end, what do I do?
Because I think they're going to play again.
Yeah.
I do too.
I do do.
The big 12 is bad.
They're going to play again.
They will play again.
And it'll come down to the same exact things.
Turnovers and situations.
And Oklahoma was better, Saturday.
And Oklahoma was better in that regard on Saturday.
I thought that Dylan Gabriel played
a sensational game.
Way above what I thought he was.
How about that final drive?
The final drive was tremendous.
He makes quick decisions.
He hurt Texas with his feet.
They've got to fix that.
And he outplayed Quinn Ewers.
Now, I don't think that this is a sign that, oh, yours can't play in these games.
Yours, outside of a couple of mistakes, played really well.
I mean, he was, I think he was like 31 or 38.
I didn't think he was the problem.
He wasn't.
Their failure in the red zone?
They turned the ball over in the red zone, and they get a four.
and goal that they don't get. Let's be honest, what really hurt Texas was, they couldn't make stops
in the second half when they needed to. That final drive by Oklahoma deserves credit. That was pathetic.
That was seven on seven. It was five plays in 75 yards. Well, that's the strength of OU is that
outside. And Andrew L Anthony going down for them. He got hurt his knee. That's not going to
help. I just give Oklahoma a lot of credit because I thought Texas, my sentiment before last week was
not about Oklahoma. It was about the fact that I really believed in Texas and what they were and what
they had shown during the course of the season. No, I do. I just think that's what makes it so impressive
what Oklahoma was able to do. I think Texas, everything's still in front of them. If I'm Texas,
think about it this way. Think about it this way. There's nothing off the board for Texas.
Now, do they have margin? No. So they're backed into the corner a little bit. If Texas has a win over
Alabama. They win the Big
12, only have one loss.
Last play of the game. And the championship
is over the team that they
lost to. They're going to the playoffs.
Absolutely. So nothing
is lost for Texas other
than the fact that they now have no
margin for air. You can't go lay a stinker
at some road environment that
you're not prepared to play in. Yeah, Oklahoma
didn't get on the phone and dial up that
game, so they have to beat Texas a second
time. Which is really hard. Stop.
I've seen this. Baylor's down. TCU's
Well, you were, I thought that was, was that a knock on the schedule?
Yeah.
Okay, well, they had Georgia scheduled, and they had to take that off because of the conference
realignment.
So they had Georgia schedule.
They had Georgia's schedule.
Oh, you, I'm not going to let them just take a shot at your schedule.
You had Georgia scheduled.
Didn't come to fruition.
That's why Georgia's schedule is so cake.
No, it's funny.
Texas still figured out a way to play Bama.
Oh, boy.
Okay.
You know, it won't be going to Oklahoma in the near future.
Okay. I, first of all, I,
um,
John, Jim Harbaugh is more valuable to college football than pro football.
I agree with that.
So I want him to stay at Michigan.
Here's the thing.
Oh, you pretend you're Harbaugh.
You're good looking successful guy.
I'm going to be the athletic director.
No, no, no, no.
Let's reverse it.
Okay.
I'm Harbaugh.
You're the athletic director at Michigan.
Ring, ring, ring.
You'll be a, you.
the athletic director about a new extension.
Hello?
What's up?
What can I help you for?
You want the new extension.
Wait, I thought I...
You're the athletic director.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, whatever you want.
You want 10 years?
That's funny, because the last time we talked,
you wanted me to take a pay cut.
No, I've given you an extension since then
and increased your pay, and now we're obviously rolling a little bit.
Pay cut.
Well, we got it back in the form of incentives, Jim,
and you bet on yourself.
Incentives.
I needed to prove.
You bet on yourself and you certainly succeeded.
And now, and now I'm willing to make you the highest paid coach in the Big Ten.
How about some incentives from my side?
I'm incentivized to get you out of here.
No, no, no, no.
I actually...
Do you think their relationships rocky?
No, I think it's actually improving of late.
It's improving.
And I would not be surprised if in the very near future there's a pretty hefty extension announced.
That's good for the sport.
It's great for the sport.
Now, I'll be interested on what the bottom.
buyout is, you know, from Harbaugh's side. So let's say the buyout is, is lower. Let's say he
signs a deal. And, and I've heard it's going to be north of anyone in the Big Ten. So that'll be
about 10 and a half million a year. That's like second to Sabin? That would be about second to
Sabin right in there. I think that Kirby and Sabin and Dabo and Ryan Day are the top four. They're all
about 10. I'd like to get more than Ryan Day since I own him. Okay. So I think that's,
that's part of this. What you'll want to watch for, once this
extension is announced at some point. And I don't know if it's imminent, but I know that it's
in conversation. What's the buyout number for Jim? If it's less than $10 million, then I don't
know, because any NFL organization is going to go and swoop in there and offer more than that
and be willing to pay more than that. I know people think it's outrageous to pay a football
coach that. That stadium was half full with Brady Hoke. They are Michigan football right now.
In Los Angeles this weekend, I saw six Michigan.
Well, that guy, Michigan football is back.
This notion that these coaches are paid too much is false.
And the numbers bear that out.
I'm not just a football guy.
The numbers bear that out.
You go look at, and I've brought this up before.
Student enrollment.
Student enrollment at Alabama, since Nick Saban became their head coach, has gone up drastically.
In fact, they've got around 11 or 12,000 more students now in undergrad than they did in undergrad when Nick Saban became their head coach.
At 50 grand a pop.
Well, and even conservatively, if that's around 20 grand, you're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars annually, a quarter billion dollars annually to the university.
University of Colorado, their applications are up 50, 60 percent because of Dion Sanders.
That's hundreds of millions of dollars to the university.
So the fact that people balk at like nine or ten million dollars for a coach that means that much to the university,
and in particular when the football program is the front porch of the university when you're enrolling applicants,
pounds sand. That's a drop in the bucket for these institutions.
Let's go look at your top 10 here.
No, let's do it.
Now, you don't like it?
You don't like it?
A little reactionary with Texas.
You don't think they're as good as USC?
I mean, I may have rewarded the undefeated's a little bit more than Texas.
But when you lose, you lose.
Let me see.
Well, I mean, USC didn't lose.
Penn State above Ohio State.
I did.
I switched that.
I moved Georgia from three last week back up to one because they proved that they've got fifth gear again.
You know what Georgia reminded me a little bit of last week?
Do you remember Usain Bolt in his prime?
Remember he wasn't a great starter because of his long legs?
And so, like, he would be like fourth out of the blocks.
Right.
And then all of a sudden in the middle of the race, you were just like, oh, oh, that guy's faster than everybody.
That's a little bit of what Georgia did last week against Kentucky.
They're like, oh, wait, is everyone doubting us?
Oh, really?
Okay, I tell you what, Kentucky, ranked team.
Everyone thinks very highly up.
Come on over here to Athens, and then they're like, lock the gates behind them and watch this.
That's what Georgia did last week, and that's why I put them back up there.
I could pick on Mario Cristoball.
I'm not.
I want to talk about this.
The Big Ten released their home and away in matchups for post realignment.
And I said this last week, college football, if it's a stock, buy it.
So this is a big thing for me.
Here's what I don't.
I'm not a far left.
guy or a far right guy. What I don't
like is the left and the right politically
selling fear. NIL's
going to ruin the sport. Transfer portal
is going to ruin the sport. Conference realignment
is going to ruin the sport. I looked
at the Big Ten schedule next year. Oh, my gosh.
There's like
10 games I'm going to schedule my
Saturdays around. Nothing against
USC Oregon State. Because I
love Oregon State. Great program.
Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan,
Michigan. Look at the
These new matchups I get, I'm not even, I didn't even mention UCLA, who by the way now is playing
real football.
That's right.
You start looking in some of these.
These are late night networks fighting over them.
Fox, whatever network.
These are massive.
Camp Randall, the shoe, the Coliseum, Husky Stadium.
And if you're watching right now, the matchups that are on the screen, those are just the
matchups that now include the West Coast teams.
That doesn't even include Michigan, Ohio State.
State, Michigan. You know, all these different
matchups, it's really
incredible what's going to happen in college football.
I would also buy stock in this sport.
And to your point about NIL
and Transfer Portal, it has been
remarkably good for the sport.
Think about Michigan,
who I'm about to go cover this week.
In large respect,
the reason why they are so deep
and veteran is because of NIL.
Now, they don't, and I don't want
to say this definitively, but
they would rather pay their current
players, really good NIL dollars, rather than promise NIL dollars to a high school recruit.
I totally agree with that system.
Philosophy, right?
And so, well, because of that, Blake Corum hurts his knee last year, and he has a choice.
Am I going to go to the NFL?
His coach tells him to go to the NFL, both of them.
Mike Hart is running back coach and Jim Harbock.
Go to the NFL.
You're ready.
You have nothing left to prove here.
But coming off a knee injury is probably going to be a fourth or fifth round pick.
Now he's a second round pick.
Now he's probably a second round pick, but it's not just where you're picked because it's also about the money you can make this year.
He can make more in NIL dollars at Michigan being Blake Corum Heisman contender than he's going to be as a fifth round draft picket.
You name the NFL City.
So what we're going to get is some of these star players who are really good players, the opposite of college basketball,
where anybody just has a glimpse of good, they're out.
That's right.
Now, if you're great, but it's a loaded class at your position.
You can stay.
I can stay free.
So college football is doing the opposite of college basketball.
You think there's all this mobility, but more good players will come back.
I mean, Sheddoer Sanders could be drafted.
He can make $10 million dollar.
And this is such a loaded quarterback class.
Mark my words.
A really good quarterback is going to come back to college next year, maybe multiple,
because the class is so loaded.
And they're sitting there thinking to themselves, I know what I can make.
Why be a middle round pick when I can go.
improve my stock, stay here, make the same money I would make in the NFL, and be a college quarterback.
So NIL has been big, and then also Transfer Portal. I think Transfer Portal has allowed more teams to play
at the top end because you've got a bigger, what's the word, a bigger impact in transfers all over
the country. How about this? This will sound like a cheap shot, but it's honest. Uh-oh, uh-oh. So get ready for
this. Buckle up. What changed in college football,
is now everybody can pay their players, not just the SEC.
Am I wrong?
You know, that's what's happened.
Everybody's like, the SEC is weaker.
No, everybody else is buying guys now, too.
Not through the church, through a car dealer.
Am I wrong?
The church one is so good.
I'm not naming any names,
but they would literally pass the hat in a church,
and then it would cross by a booster,
and it was just like,
went into some bat tunnel and you ended up to a running back.
I'd tell you, man.
I'd tell you.
But I don't think you're wrong.
I'll just say that.
And I know that that sounds hyperbolic and everything.
You are not wrong.
Other conferences govern themselves very different than the way the SEC
govern themselves.
Now everybody, I mean, literally the coach of Kentucky is like, we just want to buy more good players.
And he said it after the game.
And you can do it.
Yes.
I don't think that was a hot take.
It might have been your most.
It's accurate.
It is.
Everybody can now buy players.
It's true.
It's right up front.
It's absolutely true.
Okay, Klatte, you delivered today.
Let's rethink that Texas is suddenly now the 38th best team in the country.
I mean, I had them at 11, not 38.
That was a bit of a...
But that's okay.
That's our, you know...
By the way, can I just mention one other team?
You briefly mentioned them.
Sleeper, Sleeper, Playoff team.
UCLA.
If they beat Oregon State this week, they've got the easiest path towards the Pac-12
championship game of any of the Pac-12 contenders.
And as their quarterback, young quarterback, Donthe Moore gets better and better.
They've got one of the best defenses in the country.
Like, Chip just sits out there.
No one talks about them anymore.
And it's like, man, Chip Kelly and UCLA are pretty good.
Hip-hip for Chip.
He's pretty good.
All right, buddy, good seeing you.
Joel.
Great to see you.
Michigan, Indiana this weekend.
I'll be there.
I have a great parlay for you this weekend.
Thanks to Drafking Sportsbook.
New users.
Use the code heard.
H-E-R-D when you download the app.
Here's my parlay.
I'll take the Jags at Home minus 4 to win and cover against the Colts,
who are going with a backup quarterback.
Colts outplayed them in week 1.
Jags will not overlook Indy, Jags minus 4.
Seahawks at the Bengals, Cincinnati found their groove.
This game is urgent.
They're in a very tough division.
Every game matters now after a rocky start.
I'll take the Bengals minus 3 to cover.
And the commanders with extra prep off a blowout loss, humiliated, get points two and a half at Atlanta.
Atlanta beat Houston.
I don't think they're better than Houston.
They just beat them.
I'm going to take the commanders plus two and a half.

Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

This is the herd line news.
If I recall in the offseason, you were bullish on Frank Reich and the Panthers, and they're the last remaining winless team in the league.
It's been a rough start for Reich, and now he's revealing that something's going on with his relationship with owner David Teper.
I don't know if you've heard these comments, coward.
Take a listen.
Talk to him every week, multiple times.
You know, usually talk either Monday or Tuesday.
after a game. And, you know, he's super competitive. He wants to bring a winner to Carolinas. He
wants it now, you know, wants it now, and pushes me and pushes us to that end. He wants to do
whatever it takes and turn over every stone. And listen, it's only been a short experience,
but it's been a really good experience. It hasn't been fun. You know, it's not fun. Those
meetings aren't, I wouldn't characterize them as fun meetings.
but those meetings make me better, and I trust they make us better.
Well, I mean, discomfort is important.
There's nothing wrong with a little discomfort.
They gave up DJ Moore.
For the record, they feel like a fit with Jerry Judy or a Cortland Sutton or somebody.
Like they're not paying the quarterback.
They're not paying the quarterback.
I would go get a legitimate number one or a 1A receipt.
They don't have anybody to throw to.
When do we start the...
Well, Teper wanted Bryce Young
and I, Frank Reich, I was a C.J. Stroud guy.
When does that begin?
I think they like Bryce Young.
I think people are saying that.
Based on what?
Good intel.
I think they like Bryce Young.
I think Bryce Young is going to be good.
Now, C.J. Stroud is better than we thought.
That happens all the time.
No, no.
So far, C.J. Stroud's better.
But what have you seen in five games that lead you to believe Bryce Young is good?
I do not believe anybody.
Like Daniel Jones isn't very good. The O-line's wretched.
Now, he still makes mistakes, but there are times.
Justin Herbert had a terrible O-line.
Justin Herbert's a top-five quarterback on the planet.
Bryce Young's not that.
This kid needs help.
He is more of an accurate, smart manager of a game.
He's not going to pull a bad franchise down the street to win.
So you just need to get him an offensive line and receivers.
Let's get him some receivers.
One of them at the trade deadline here.
I think they should go out and call Denver and say, let's do some
talking on Jerry Judy.
Okay.
Because Denver needs draft capital and they need a player.
All right.
Do you want to guess the line?
Panthers at Miami on Sunday.
14 and a half.
Good.
It was 14 and a half.
Now 13 and a half because Miami's got some injury issues with H.A.
and the running back going on IR.
Well, Miami's probably going to sit some guys this week.
Wait, you just rest up for the Eagles game.
Yes.
Treat this like the UMass game for all.
Yeah, I can see Miami resting.
If guys got a little dinged up, I can just.
see him resting three or four starters. They're good enough to do that.
For Philadelphia, you better not be dinged up.
I'm surprised you're not a little more concerned with Bryce Youngster.
It's like five games. He has nothing to work with.
It's not Jordan Love who sat for three years, learned the system.
Certainly, certainly.
And it has like...
Who looks better dropping back in the pocket? Looks more control, confident.
Well, Jordan Love does because he's not running for his life on every play.
And they also have Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs, good young tied ends.
I mean, there's
Green Bay's got some players.
They're just kids.
Who do you feel better about today?
Today, Bryce Young or MacDoh?
I don't feel great about either one.
I want to see as Carolina can deliver some players.
Who do you feel better about today?
Bryce Young is a much better prospect than Jordan Love.
If Bryce Young was going into year four and look like this, I'd be like it to miss.
It's over.
All right, right.
All right.
Next up, Denver Broncos.
They're one and four looking to get back on track tomorrow against the Chiefs on Thursday night football.
History not on their side.
Denver's lost 15 straight to Kansas City, dating back to 2015.
Russell Wilson wants the Broncos to create a new history.
I think the important thing is that we've got to create a new history.
You know, and we've got to be able to do that with one play at a time,
one moment of time, one game at a time.
Obviously, over the past, you know, however many games that we haven't been able to win,
that's, like I always tell you guys, every game's history of its own.
And we've got to be a focus on this one and go win this game.
Yeah.
Any interest in wager here?
I see 10 and a half.
You know me well enough to know.
So does the audience.
I like usually three out of my five picks are underdogs.
And I just avoid.
I did consider strongly Detroit last weekend, but I talked myself out of it.
Big favorite against Carolina.
I just stay away from those games.
I did, during the commercial, I went and bet Denver getting 10 and a half.
I know Denver's been wretched for years.
The last three times these two have met,
Kansas City's been awesome. Denver stunk,
and they've been one-score game.
Four out of the last five, one-score games.
Divisional matchup, Denver's going to try really, really hard.
Kansas City's probably going to go through the motions, right?
Get a 21-3 lead and just coast.
Kansas City has the Chargers on deck.
That's a real game next week.
I don't know if they overlook Denver,
but I can definitely see them taking a foot off the gas third quarter.
Kansas City wins games in their division,
but they win a lot of them narrowly.
They're in a lot of close games in the division.
Especially when they're a big favorite.
Mahomes has never been a great...
Mahomes with better weapons has never been a great quarterback against the spread
when he's a huge double-digit favorite.
What were they against the Jets?
Weren't they huge favorites like a touchdown?
Yeah, and that game was go either way.
It was 17-0 and then it screwed around and whatever
and the Jets cover.
Final story is...
What more Cowboys accent? I've got to say,
I do take some glee in Dallas's struggles.
Why is that?
Because all their fans are unreasonable, and they think that the cowboys are awesome, and they're just not.
C.D. Lamb did not hide his frustration Sunday.
As the number one receiver saw just five targets in the beatdown against the Niners, he even questioned the identity of the offense.
I think that was your Monday morning take.
And that prompted Mike McCarthy to have a great visit with C.D. Lamb and had this to say.
I'll just say, if he's not pissed off that he's getting the ball.
then I'm pissed off at him for not being pissed off.
I mean, he's an impact player.
I mean, he should feel that way.
But, you know, I just think like anything in life, you know,
how you handle things and how you move forward is, you know,
how you affect others.
You know, there's so many things that, good things that can come out of that.
But yeah, I mean, yeah, fully aware of it, you know,
and it was frustrating.
You know, it was frustrating not doing your part, you know,
in offense.
And, you know, and I felt that just, you know,
I felt frustration also as a play caller.
I will say this.
Dallas did not get a scheduling break.
So you go west, you get trounced,
and teams generally after they play the Niners are a little beat up physically.
Now you've got to go back out west.
The Chargers off a by week with an offensive coordinator that has taken Herbert to a new level,
and they get Austin Echler back.
Well, I got a check.
Dallas might stay out west.
I don't know if they went home yet.
I'll look it up.
But this is a tough spot.
So the Chargers, and again, it's a defensive coach.
I always think offensive coach teams do better off buys.
Maybe I'm wrong on that, but it feels like the offensive coach implements new tricks.
But Kellyn Moore now gets extra time with Justin Herbert, and they get their chest piece back.
This is a rut.
Now, Dallas may very well win this.
Generally, teams humiliated with talent come back and play very well.
I'd probably, if I had to take a side, I guess I would take.
The world tells you everybody sold their cowboy stock.
They're not that bad.
And the Chargers' home field advantage is maybe half.
a point at most. It'll be a cowboy crowd.
But Echler, if you've watched the Chargers, what have they struggled?
One and two yards situational, that they're not, Echler solves that.
Echler's very clever in small spaces.
So the thing they've struggled with us, it's fourth and one.
They don't have a play, or they don't have a player.
Echler is that player.
So they should be a very, very tough out for Dallas here.
Echler changes that offense, especially with Mike Williams out for the year.
Yeah, like you said, they had the buy week.
So with Williams out, they're going to implement some new stuff, maybe Johnson and the young kids from DCU.
It's very possible.
I don't think they're going to get blown out here.
I don't.
What if they get whacked?
Do you know if Derwin, James, and Bosa are going to play?
I don't know.
They sat out the Raiders game.
We'll see.
Now, if they get whacked, then that might be best for this show.
No, I mean, I'm not rooting for anything, but Dallas getting beat again, it's Mayday.
Then you got real issues.
We saw what Tyreek Hill did to the Chargers in the secondary.
there's a chance C.D. Lamb goes off here.
Like, you know, he's going to have some opportunities.
I just, I'm out on Dak Prescott, dude.
I'm just, I'm not a fan.
Now, there's a Monday night football game.
This is finally a good game.
I've been some clunkers in prime time.
I know, they're half.
Especially what Sunday night football is?
What?
Giants bills.
Just go ahead and take your wife out.
Well, I'll watch the bills.
What, for a quarter?
Well, I'll watch the bills.
Come on.
Well, without Milano and their top corner, New York can move the ball a little?
Oh, really?
Can they?
I think they have three points off.
Offensively in the first half or six points all the season.
A couple first downs.
In Orchard Park, there's going to be guys jumping off tables.
Where are all the giant fans when you and I said Daniel Jones' contract was a whiff?
Cowardly.
Where'd they go?
The power outage?
Where'd you go?
Internet not working in the Apple?
Gotham?
It's funny.
They all go and flee and hide.
They're not calling him Danny Dimes anymore.
It's Daniel loose change.
Because he's just not.
He's not throwing dimes.
He's just not.

feeling good about themselves?
What do you make of that Bears Vikings game?
I saw it dipped under three after Justin
Jefferson went on.
It's got to be a Vikings play here, right?
I don't know.
Winning streaks don't happen in Chicago
in recent memory.
I don't think they're great teams.
It's a good watch.
I think Chicago and Denver, a little tire-fire quotient.
They're kind of interesting teams to watch.
Speaking of that, Sean Peyton says, I'm not a door-to-door salesman,
but I will pick up the phone.
Here's Sean Peyton.
George and I talk every day, three, four times a day.
We're not looking to do business with any of our players.
That doesn't prevent teams from calling at times.
you know and so um you know we just you know you pick the phone up but um that's kind of where it's at
so listen it's last year i predicted minnesota would be the most improved team we got it right
this year i predicted denver got it wrong uh they're just it's not a quick fix there's a lot of things
to fix so they they got a little clearance sign i think outside they're willing to move people
at the trade deadline let me make this argument it's a great year to stink
It's a great year to stink.
Why?
It's a tremendous draft.
Like all the executives I talk to,
this is a really best draft in five years
and the best quarterback draft potentially in 10.
It's a good year to stink.
I'm going to throw a second thing at you, J. Mack.
Here's another reason why it's a good year to stink.
Because San Francisco appears to be so much better
than the rest of the league.
They have overwhelmed Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh,
and the Cowboys.
Talented teams look like JV against them, overwhelmed.
That the good teams around the league are looking and saying,
we could use Cortland Sutton.
We could use another weapon.
That San Francisco looks like such a dominant heavyweight
that it's going to force Kansas City.
We could use Jerry Judy.
Wouldn't that offense look different if they had a legitimate Cortland Sutton?
That San Francisco is so overpowering.
that I think the good teams, not the dogs, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Buffalo are sitting
there thinking, we need another piece. Pittsburgh at home was shelled. Dallas humiliated.
Those are top seven, eight rosters. Couldn't compete. I think San Francisco's dominance has the good
GM saying, hey, when we face San Francisco, we can't be bad at right tackle. We can't be,
we have to have a third receiver. If I'm Kansas City, I'd go get Cortland's.
Sutton if I could afford him. I'm serious on this. That receiving core against that
nineer defense, Kansas City's thinking Super Bowl. I'm Buffalo. Could I get another dependable
number two receiver? Now I miss up my linebacker and my top corner in Buffalo. My defense won't
be as good in Buffalo. Well, how do I solve that? Go get another offensive piece.
Wouldn't you rather go after Patrick Sartan, who's on his rookie deal? Now, Denver's not going to want
to part with him. The price may be high, but Patrick Sartan is an incredible cornerback.
Tradeeus White out, Patrick Sertan, in.
I don't know.
That's probably going to run you a first round pick.
Oh, that's a first,
and that's a first round pick and something.
Yeah.
That's a first round.
If you could give me your number three corner,
who's on the second year of his contract.
No.
I mean, again.
Well, the problem is the number two corner in Denver right now
is an abomination.
This kid Mathis,
he's like graded out as one of the worst in the league.
Teams are just targeting him.
So nobody's going to want him.
I don't know.
What are you giving up for Cortland Sutton?
If I'm if I'm if I'm if I'm if I'm Kansas City some pick
in the division are you helping a team in the division
you know what I got to get me fixed
I'm not in can I'm not in Kansas City's galaxy
I got to get my crap fixed I'm a big believer in that
I'd trade in division tomorrow if I'm a wreck
it'd be one thing if we're viable and I'm right you have my
homes I don't and my my roster's bad I need picks
I trust my ability to land picks
we got a good last hour power hour it's back
to be and called that. Data indicating
it is indeed a power hour next.
