This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast.
Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific.

Here we go. It's hour two. We're rolling on a Wednesday. Joel Clat, five minutes live in Los Angeles. It's the hurt. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. We appreciate you making us part of your day. Radio TV, however, we're on a lot of platforms, podcasting, streaming, whatever. Speaking of streaming, watch Netflix last night. Great, great story. Great documentary. I'll tell you what it is later. True crime. About a very popular British newscaster.
but a sad ending to her life.
Very, very interesting.
True crime is where it's at.
I don't need fluff and fantasy.
True crime is what I'm interested.
I don't know what I want to hear more about.
70s baseball players or true crime?
I mean, it's a tough one.
It's a tough one.
But, you know, during the commercial break,
I'm looking up David Spade stuff on YouTube.
Oh, he's a riot.
I have so many questions for the guy.
He is so good live.
Oh, he's excellent.
And he'll work on his act.
He'll be like, all right, I haven't thought this stuff through
after about 30, 40 minutes.
He'll go.
I got 10 minutes here.
That's time I saw him in Hermosa.
That's what he did.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it was funny.
It was just, he hadn't like the arcs.
He hadn't put it all together yet.
You know, he's the only comedian that texts me regularly wants my sports takes.
Really?
Yes.
Is he working him into his actor?
No, he just wants to know him.
Wow.
Yeah.
Just like I want to know his new material.
He wants to know my new material.
How about that?
How about that?
Oh, oh, you're Russell Wilson.
I don't want to be viewed as anti-anything.
I think Russell's group thinks I'm anti-Rusel.
No, I'm not.
Russell Wilson in the first half this year has been excellent.
Five TDs, no picks, 76% completion percentage.
On script, excellent.
Second half, it's been ugly.
54 passer rating, 63 pass rating.
So it's a process.
It's steps.
I think this weekend in Chicago, Russell Wilson and Sean Payton are going to have a really good weekend.
So far, in the development and the process for Russ, the first half significantly improved over last year.
They just got to get post half right.
And again, stuff takes time.
But I will say this.
Xavier and Howard of the Dolphins called out Denver and said it was totally disrespectful to play Russell Wilson in that blowout.
He said, the man did a lot for this game.
They got to do better.
You can't be leaving guys out there like that.
Well, it should be noted.
Daniel Jones, in a horrible weather, getting the, you know what beat out of him, was in until the very end for the Giants.
The NFL keeps it stars in.
Christian McCaffrey in blowout wins.
Debo Samuel in blowout wins.
They're both stars are getting knocked around.
They play physical football.
They're in until the end.
In blowout wins for the Niners.
There's only 55 guys on an NFL roster and 48 are active on game day.
And four of those guys are on special teams.
There's not as much depth as you think.
But here's the important thing.
So when Sean Payton got to Denver, let me ask you, what is the one thing?
immediately he did and wanted to change the sense that Russell Wilson was getting special treatment.
That was the knock Sean had heard in Seattle.
Russell was getting special treatment. Brady got barked out in New England.
Belichick never went to dinner with Brady.
Belichick begrudgingly late in his career gave Tom a game ball.
Tom was one of the fellows.
Russell felt elevated.
So what did Sean Payton do initially?
Took away his office.
What did Sean Payton do repeatedly?
Called him out for not getting plays in on time.
He is trying to make Russell, and I don't think Russell has a problem with it,
he's trying to make Russell one of the guys.
Fair or not, in Seattle, there was animosity more than I suspected about Russell, special treatment.
He goes to Denver.
He gets the office, the mansion, the beautiful wife.
you can see how players get jealous. The big contract.
Listen, jealousy is everywhere.
Envy's everywhere.
But what Sean's trying to do is correct that.
Like, you don't get an office.
I can bark at you too.
I'll call out you too.
And I think it's actually benefiting Russ.
I think it's good for Russ.
I think Russ knows it's good.
I don't think he's losing sleep on this stuff.
But offensive linemen are out there taking hits at the end.
Linebackers are out there getting hurt.
Corners and safeties.
Russell's going to do it too.
So I think you see disrespect.
I see standard, I see expectations.
Sean Payton has been asked to change about five things.
Number one, the Russell Wilson teammate locker room, the culture, fix the offense.
You know, Sean Payton basically kicked people out of the lunchroom from the executive suite.
He's like, what are these people doing in the lunchroom?
What's Russell doing with his own office?
So Sean had a lot to fix, and they have not fixed the offense yet.
It is better.
But in the second half, they kind of, they leave a lot on the table.
So I just think whether it's fair or not, there was a sense, and not everything is fair,
but some of it was probably true that Russell was treated differently than everybody else in Seattle.
And it was the defense that was doing a lot of the work.
You know, I was always an advocate of Russell Wilson, but I think that did exist.
And I think sometimes people do things to you and you, and I don't think Russell has a problem
with this playing late in the game, but I think sometimes bosses or management are looking at a bigger picture.
And the big picture for Mike McCarthy in the Cowboys game was, we got four offensive linemen out.
I'm not letting Dak throw 45 times and get the hell beat out of him.
He saw a bigger picture.
It's a long season.
I'm not letting Dak get crushed.
I think Sean sees a bigger picture.
I'm going to bark at Russ.
I'm going to call him out.
I'm going to keep him in a blowout because my linemen are too.
I think big picture, Sean gets it.
Sean and McCarthy are responsible for the entire picture, not respecting, saving, protected.
That's not it.
Sean's in the middle of evaluation and culture change.
That's hard, and it goes beyond just, hey, yank him out and let the backup get smoked.
O. Lyman are taking shots.
Dean lineman, linebackers taking shots.
Russell can take a few, too.
And with that, Joel Clatt, the voice of college football at Fox now is joining us on the show.
One of our favorite sessions, I do consider it a bit of a football therapy session.
Yeah, well, I'm glad that you do.
So, you know, you can pay, I take Venmo or cash if you want.
I saw it the other way.
Oh, I see.
I see where you're going.
How are you doing this week, man?
I am, first of all, going to set record.
There's going to be a lot of people watching you.
So, you know what I mean?
This week you've got to do prep.
Colorado USC is a biggie.
I will say this.
I will say this.
I think Colorado, this is my feeling.
This is a proud guy and a proud group of young men.
I think Colorado was humiliated.
Yeah.
I think they're going to, now I don't know if they can win.
I don't know how much that defense can stop.
But my guess is they'll move the ball on USC.
Am I wrong?
I don't think that you're wrong.
Now, just the matchup side of this is that USC, their strength defensively is putting pressure on the quarterback.
It is.
And they do it as well as anybody, by the way.
And it's not just because of aggressive play calling.
In fact, if you look at their pressure rate when they don't buy,
Blitz highest in the country.
USC.
When they don't blitz, highest in the country, 48%.
So their down linemen are getting the job done.
Bear Alexander and the pressure that, you know, like that, that has worked.
Those transfer acquisitions up front, that has worked.
And that's right where Colorado is very weak.
The offensive line is not a strength, obviously.
Chador has been sacked more times than anybody in the country.
22.
He was under an immense amount of pressure last week against Oregon.
Now Oregon's got a defense.
defensive coach, and they have eight years of stacking four and five guys in recruiting.
Yeah, that's true.
I mean, so that was not a fair fight.
Listen, I don't disagree with you.
Where USC is weak defensively is their inability to tackle in space out of the secondary.
And we saw that pop up against Arizona State last weekend, right?
A 14 mistackles is not going to get the job done.
And more so than that is mistackles produce not just like explosive plays.
they produce first downs and touchdowns.
Keep it away from Caleb.
That's exactly right.
And so in order to get off the field, they're going to have to tackle better because Colorado,
I assure you, I assure you, after watching Shudor take the beating he did against Oregon,
that ball is going to be out quickly to all of the playmakers on the outside,
and they're going to force USC to try to tackle in space.
That would be the one area where you're like, okay, if Colorado is going to keep this close,
if they're going to make this a game, that's going to be the area where they have to do it.
Because on the flip side, I don't know if you can stop you at.
see. This is one of the two best
offenses in college football.
Caleb's playing at a higher level this year than
he did a year ago. Their run game
is better than it was a year ago.
And they have a home run hitter in Lloyd
running back. Marshal Lloyd is
a really good player.
Zachariah Branch when they get him?
Oh my gosh. He's the best true
freshman. He's
he is arguably after Caleb
their best offensive player.
I think that with the ball in his
hands in space as a returner or in the slot. He's the most dangerous player in college football
with the ball in his hands right now as a true freshman. He's currently. His high school video at
Bishop Gorman was insane. It's, it was Reggie Bush. It's silly. I tell you, the thing about Caleb
that I marvel at, Caleb, his superpower is what he does outside of the pocket. Yeah. The big
plays. His ability to throw the ball with velocity and accuracy off platform running around.
remarkable. Remarkable. He does it better than anybody in college that I've ever seen. You talk about a kid that
sees the field. Even when he's running around, he sees his head. Left, right, left, right. He sees the
field. But it's the accuracy and velocity. It's the combination outside, you know, off platform that makes him
amazing. Now, here's the thing. If you normally prepare for a guy that's like his superpower is
outside of the pocket, defensive coordinators will be like, we've got to keep him inside of the pocket. We've got to
keep him hemmed in. But you can't do that with Caleb because here's the other part. He's grown
and developed and he controls the game from the pocket as well as anybody in the sport right now.
And so like this guy's ceiling, which I already thought was high, is even higher. He's playing
at that type of a level. They're the number one scoring offense in the country. They've upgraded
the O line. They've upgraded the offensive line. And that's a scary proposition. If Colorado wants to
stay close or win this game, they're going to have to score 45 points to do it.
I want to say that.
I said this, you know, Dan Lennon came out, the coach for Oregon,
they had a pregame speech and people got fired up.
I'm like, folks, if you heard every pregame speech,
oh, yeah.
I mean, give me a break.
I don't think Colorado's overhyped because networks hype everything.
And only few things get ratings.
So it's appropriately hyped.
People used to say this to me all the time.
Tiger, Tiger is overhyped.
I'm like, no, no, no, no, he's appropriately hyped.
That's correct.
So I watch Colorado.
The other thing I don't like is,
is that it's very divisive.
No, college football
is a sport of tradition.
They hate anything new.
Conference realignment,
NIL transfer portal.
Harbaugh took more heat than anybody
because he was different in recruiting.
And remember,
Harbaugh did those satellite camps
where he would go in like,
you can't have a camp in the South?
You know, it's like, well, why not?
People hate it.
You're right on that.
Now, a couple of things on this.
Like, first and foremost,
on Dan Laning,
this actually, the way that he approached last week's game with Colorado made me more of a believer in Oregon.
My same thing.
And the reason is, is because Dan Lannning knows exactly what it takes.
He saw Georgia.
He helped build Georgia.
That's where he came from.
He knows the size, the speed, the quality of play you got to have at quarterback.
His recruiting's been amazing.
His recruiting has been outstanding.
He doesn't do that unless he knows.
He knows is like, I got to take it.
team that can play on the level. I got a team that can play at the top into college football,
and we're about to house these guys. And so he does that. And that's his job. I don't begrudge
him that. Now, like, do I find it a smidge hypocritical to talk about, you know, clicks while you've
inviting a camera in? Sure, but that's okay, because that's what this sport is about. You're trying to
build up your program and acquire talent. Now, the other side of this is the Colorado side.
Okay, and you touched on this interest and how everyone is against them or whatever.
I do believe that there are people in the sport, coaches and some crusty old pundits,
that don't like the attention that they're getting.
But what they don't realize is that they have not just grabbed the attention of the same fans that watch college football.
No, new people.
This is the Tiger Woods effect to golf.
They have created a whole new sector of people watching college football.
for Colorado and Oregon to get 10 million people watching when the game is over effectively at the 10 minute mark of the first quarter is remarkable.
That's why we cover it as a media.
That's why media companies are constantly talking about Deion Sanders is because everybody else is also talking about Deon Sanders.
It's appropriately hyped for the interest that is out there throughout our country.
Okay, so I want to shift to Ohio State.
Lou Holt said they're a good team not great.
Ryan Day bristled at it.
I got to tell you something.
I think Penn State would smoke them.
Smoke Ohio State?
I think the two teams in this country that are wildly underrated are Washington and Penn State,
and they got that kid, that Penn State quarterback.
He's very good.
He's going to be a number one pick in two years.
I do believe that as well.
Wow.
I believe you heard me say that first.
Yeah, that's okay, though.
You can take it.
It was a couple of weeks ago, which I understand.
And you're right past me, you forget who said things, which is fine.
It's a good take, so take it.
Own it.
Own it.
Now, I don't disagree with you.
They're not a great team.
Wait, Ohio State?
I don't know about that.
Oh, Notre Dame outplayed them for most of the game.
It'd help if they had 11 guys on the field, but nonetheless, I thought Notre Dame...
Can we just appreciate that?
Like, that was two very good teams.
I feel good about both teams moving forward, by the way.
I feel good, as Lou Holt said, I don't feel great.
first of all, Ryan's
emotion after the game
in regards to what Lou Holtz said
had nothing to really do
with Lou Holtz.
I know.
And I do too, by the way.
By the way,
pick what you want.
Coach says, hey, you know,
it gives you a nucleolution like
one game at a time and you're like,
no, coach has never said anything.
Then Ryan Day is like, Ohio against the world.
And you're like, he's too emotional.
Which one do you want?
I like, listen, these coaches are to some degree
sales.
That's right. And by the way, he was speaking to his base. That was essentially a postgame
interview that was a political rally for his base. If you're an Ohio State fan or a player or a staff
member, you loved it. And rightly so, and that's who he was speaking to. If you didn't love it,
you're probably a Michigan fan, which is fine. Just call a spade a spade. So Ryan did what he
intended to do and it landed for the people that it was intended to land for.
And that's what I think people outside of that base don't really understand.
Now, that's that.
I actually think Ohio State is very good, and their quarterback proved that he can take them even higher than that.
You also brought up Washington.
You brought up a lot.
Okay.
Let's say.
You want to go back at this to Ohio State?
You tend to be ice cream for breakfast, guy.
I'm over here eating wheat thins for dinner.
It's a much different world I live in a...
Is wheat thins for dinner supposed to be responsible?
No, it's my blue collar work ethos.
so I'm not out here jetting around.
So you just throw out very good.
I'll tell you it was very good in this cut.
There's no great this year.
There's a lot.
There's some very good.
George is very good.
Michigan's very good.
I mean, do you know that?
Yeah, I do.
Do you?
Who do they play?
Who have they played?
Have they played outside of their home stadium?
Texas is very good.
Okay.
Do we know that?
Florida State is very good.
Okay, timeout.
Time out.
Clemson.
Big game.
By the way, I'm doing what Marcus Freeman should have done.
you should have had another time.
I'm going to call it timeout.
Time out.
Number one.
Ohio State's O-line is average so far.
They're not in short-yardage there, but they protected when they needed it most.
They can protect with anybody in the country, and they ran the ball decently.
I get it.
The short-yardage issue is an issue, and they're going to have to figure that out.
By the way, guess who also had the short-yardage issue?
Notre Dame, because they failed on a couple of fourth downs as well.
Now, you bring up a couple of other teams, and I don't disagree with you.
I think it's obvious that Texas isn't above-the-line team that can,
compete for a national championship. I'm a big believer in Texas. But let's not all
the sudden hand them trophies when they also were in a 10-10 tie at home against Wyoming.
Like, relax. Didn't you bring up Florida State? And that's where we got to call a timeout.
Because while Florida State might have a great resume right now, they're not a lot of
substance there. They got outgained by 100 yards against Boston College. A hundred yards.
They got outgained by 100 yards against Clemson.
There are 27 undefeated teams right now in America.
27.
In terms of yard differential on the season of those 27, they're dead last.
27th.
If you actually watch the game against Clemson, you'll see that it actually played out
more like an underdog sneaking out a win and an upset win on the road.
You know how I know that?
They got out gained by 100 yards.
They needed a defensive touchdown to score plus a two turnover day.
And they needed Clemson to miss a 20-year.
29-yard field goal.
So this whole Florida State is very good, and I don't know if Ohio State is.
Come on.
Like, what are we doing?
Well, again, I know that you don't like defensive touchdowns, but that goes back to
the wheat thins and the blue-collar ethos that I represent.
Defensive touchdowns and wheat-thens for dinner.
Okay, I want to say this, though, I want to pivot back west.
I know I'm a West Coast Homer, and I know I grew up a Husky fan, so I always push back on
that.
I love Washington.
First of all, and I told a buddy of this, I said, I don't think.
USC can stop Washington. I think
I don't. I agree with that. I think Washington
can make a stop or two.
This offense is a pro
offense. Two NFL receivers,
a first round quarterback, two pro
tackles, an edge rusher that's
a first or second rounder. This is the
most undervalued team in the country.
No question. This coach
and this quarterback.
No question. People, it looks like Miami
dolphins, are wide open.
I will tell you this. Here's the way I've
defined it. Washington
is the scariest team in the country.
Because here's the thing.
If you're Georgia with a new quarterback or Ohio State with a new quarterback
or Michigan with a methodical offense or even, you know,
like Texas with, you know, the questions around if you can play at the top end,
who can actually accurately state with confidence today our offense can score with Washington?
Maybe USC?
That's it. That's it.
At this point.
And they don't have their, and USC doesn't have Washington's receiver.
No, they don't.
And I don't know if they have their own line.
This wide receiver core is, insane.
Is as good or better than anybody.
And I understand what Ohio State is playing with.
I know what Ohio State is playing with.
And McMillan didn't even play last week.
And Adonze went off.
And here's the other part.
Washington, people have said like, well, their defense is not very good.
Look at the, you know, Cal scored this or that.
No, no, no, no.
If you actually look at the point in which Michael Pinnock's Jr.
Exited the games.
Yeah.
I mean, it's 40, 40.
You won nothing, 42, 12, 52, 12.
They are beating people by a margin right now that is substantial.
And you brought up the coach, and I'm glad you did.
His name's Kalin-Dabor.
And Kenyon, Indiana, Fresno State, Washington.
And before that, he was a head coach at Sioux Falls.
So then he's a head coach at Sioux Falls, goes, and he's a coordinator for Indiana.
That's where he meets Michael Pennix, Jr. for the first time.
They form a relationship there.
He goes to Fresno State.
Then he gets Pennix to transfer away from Indiana and land with him at Washington.
So they've got a relationship.
And that relationship was one of the things that allowed Pinnock's to have so much success in the COVID year at Indiana when Indiana had a pretty remarkable season that year. I believe they were six and two. Now, Caleb Dabor has coached over a hundred games as a head coach. Not many people know that because they're just like, oh yeah, you know Fresno and this and that. He coached at Sue Falls. Do you know his record as a head coach? I do. I follow Sue Falls football.
94 and 11. I think it's 94 and 12. Double check. I believe it's 11. Okay. I'm up on Sue Falls football.
I wish I love, by the way.
The fighting kitchen sinks.
But think about that, like, so here's a guy that, like, has a pedigree.
You know, like, Marcus Freeman's going to get drug under the bus this week
about the end of game at Notre Dame.
Guess what he never had.
Years at Sioux Falls to learn how to be a head coach.
That's a good point.
Right?
And so, Kailin DeBore is a good coach.
This defense is a little better than people think.
The offensive line's excellent.
Washington's the scariest team in the country.
Okay, let's go to your top 10.
It's mostly right.
I think you have Penn State undervalued.
I think Penn State is, I think they're the best team in the Big Ten.
I did see him against Illinois.
They weren't great against Illinois.
They couldn't handle Jerzon Newton first round defensive tackle.
Was that game at Illinois?
It was.
It was.
So you went to Illinois.
It's easy to fall asleep there.
Okay, that was a cheap shot.
I got to do that to Illinois.
I love Illinois.
Okay, Georgia won.
I mean, Penn State is sixth.
Where do you want me to put them?
You want me to put them over Ohio State?
You feel like I'm overrating Ohio State.
State is absolutely better than Ohio State today.
It's a good thing that we're going to be able to find that out, and I can't wait to call that game.
What is that on?
I believe that's on Fox, M-O-X.
Maybe you've noticed.
We have most of the good games.
That's right.
I'll say this.
I think you have, and I'm not trying to be a homer here, because I don't like that.
I think Oregon is underrated on that list.
So do I.
I think Oregon.
Isn't this crazy?
The Pac-12 had five years.
I'm a Pac-12 guy.
I gave up.
This is easily the best they've ever been.
No doubt.
I mean, Oregon, this Oregon between depth of players, dude, they were just cycling guys in.
It's like, they got four-star guys everywhere.
That's right.
I think Oregon and Penn State are underrated.
I think I probably wouldn't have Washington, too.
I think Ohio State, you've got them overvalued.
Utah cracks me up.
It is interesting, though, when you put this up, and we should state this, you said it in a way,
you said, we don't have great, we have very good.
Yeah.
But because the greatness has maybe receded just a touch and other programs have built themselves up,
I believe that we have more teams this year in college football that are actually legitimate national championship contenders than ever before in my career.
Listen, if when Utah can get consistent healthy play at quarterback with that defense,
you think that you'd be shocked if they beat Washington or Oregon?
I would not be shocked.
And at the same, but here's the thing, in the same vein, if Rising doesn't play this week,
At Oregon State, Utah will get beat.
Because Oregon State is really tough.
Oh, no, really good.
So, Washington State.
That league is in, it's the best it's ever been.
No doubt.
It's what's the best in the country this year.
That's what I keep telling Fox.
This show's the best it's ever been.
You better make sure we just don't disband.
You got to keep J-Mack here.
Disband.
You got to, by the way, Kellyn, hold on, hold on.
Hold on.
Was it 11 or was it 12?
You threw a number out there.
It was 94.
We got Google.
Kailin DeBore was.
67 and 3 at Sioux Falls.
Boom.
That's insane.
That is.
You know what it is?
Great.
Not very good.
It's great.
All right.
It's good seeing you.
You've got USC in Colorado.
Yeah,
it's going to be good one.
Now it's Saturday,
noon Eastern.
That's right.
Meaning all you West Coast Swifties.
It's 9 a.m.
Swift.
No,
no, you guys are in Colorado.
You're in the mountain time.
What time is it on here?
10 local.
10 local.
That's right.
J. Mack, you got to tell the peeps.
It's mountain time.
So it's 10 local.
Come on, J.
It's noon Eastern.
I don't know if I've ever been in the mountain time zone.
Maybe we need to change that.
Well, you need to remedy that because Boulder's awesome.
Can I jump on the private jet with you to Boulder?
Wait, is Colin flying out?
There's a private jet going on?
I certainly don't have it.
That's the only way this guy flies out.
How? 27 C on Southwest every weekend.
With the wheat thins.
And the blue collar works out.
And the blue collar ethos.
That's right.
You know what I'm going to do tonight, J. Mack?
Wheat thins for dinner.
Yep.
It's the only way to do it.
Good seeing you, buddy.
You as well.
Joel Clat is doing USC at Colorado.
It's 10 in the morning west.
Whatever it is in Colorado.
And the eastern, it's about noon.
All these damn time zones.
We got four.
Well, yeah.
I mean, it's tough to keep them straight.
Four time zones.
Adding and subtracting by three is difficult.
Yeah.

I have a great parlay for you this weekend, thanks to Draft King Sportsbook.
New users use the code heard, H-E-R-D when you download the app.
All right, here's my parlay pick of the week via Draft King Sportsbook.
Commanders plus eight at the Eagles.
Philly on a short week due to Monday Night Football, commanders division game, they run the
ball, humiliated by Buffalo, teams humiliated, play better than next week.
Eagles may win, I'll take the eight.
Browns at home minus two and a half against the injury riddled Ravens.
Browns, the best team in the league nobody's watching or cares about.
I don't know how Baltimore moves the ball consistently.
I'll take the Browns minus two and a half.
I'll take the Rams plus one against the Colts.
Gardner Minshu feels good.
What a story.
Rams played very poorly.
They'll get the details and the run game back.
They're a better team than the Colts.
Rams plus one.
If you want to take the herd parlay, check out Draft King's

It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care which I'm saying.
Yep, that's me.
Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college.
football or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-taped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for fishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, tired of take a nice cold showers, try a navian, 15-year limited warranty.
Tankless made simple.com, federal.
tax credits as well. Navion at tanklessmade symbol.com. J. Mack with the news.
Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. By the way, were you doing full-on cold showers?
Do you like a 30-second cold shower at the end? I don't do freezing, but I do, I try to do mostly
very cool showers. You don't strike me as a cold tub kind of guy. Well, it's, um, I've done that
before. I like cooler showers, but I would say in the, you know, like when I go skiing,
which I'm prone to do in the winter.
I want a hot shower then because I've been on the cold all day.
So I like both, but I think, Tony Gonzalez told me I need to have cooler showers.
So I listen to him.
That's a thing.
Okay, let's move on.
Aaron Rogers, obviously lost for the season after four plays.
And many believe that the four-time MVP would call it quits.
I don't think he'll return.
But Rogers made a definitive statement yesterday saying he has no doubt he's returning next season.
sitting my bleep down to watch a whole game on Sunday
that was kind of every confirmation I needed
that I'm not done and I want to keep playing
because I'm not just ready to find something else to do on my Sundays
I'm still invested I still love it I'm living and dying with every play
watching our boys and pulling for them to figure it out and stick together
and get through this tough stretch
well I like that he wants to play
you know that's better enough
he's a guy who went into a darkness retreat because he didn't know if he was done
well let's let's let's let everybody's different I will say this though
Aaron Rogers and Sala are taking one for the team here.
I have not been a Kirk Cousins guy.
But if they do go out this week and I'm not going to,
Zach Wilson's not going to be great because he's not.
If the defense quits, that's what worries me.
I can live losing.
And I don't, let's be honest,
Zach's not going to be great against that defense.
But if the defense says I'm out,
like the Steeler defense ain't getting a lot from Kenny Pickett.
but the offense is getting a little better and the defense plays with great energy.
When a defense is great and quits, that's when you have a problem.
That's what I'll watch this week.
Because Kansas City should not score 30 points against this defense.
It's just too good.
How much ayahuasca will A.Rogers need to watch the Jets offense this weekend?
On Sunday night football, because it's not like you could change the channel and go watch, you know, Ravens Browns or whatever.
We don't need to take shots at it.
This is not a shot.
Like, as a Jets fan, it's tough for me to watch.
It's offense, dude.
Did you watch them against a Patriots?
No.
They get the ball and you're like, can we just not turn it over?
Can we not give up picks?
Well, yes.
It's the same thing with Chicago, and that's why both are going to get a new quarterback.
Yeah, but Chicago didn't have, like, legitimate Super Bowl expectations.
I don't know who the meat balls were betting on the Bears to win the Super Bowl.
You like them?
I said wild card.
Wild card was realistic, and like...
It is?
It was.
What, for an hour?
Well, listen, they got the talent.
I didn't realize a coaching staff would be.
I don't think they have the talent, you think.
Here's what worries me.
I mean, the defense is beat up.
The offense...
Here's what worries me.
At least the Jets, their coach, has mastered his side of the ball.
Like, their defense, the minute Sala got there got better fast.
So Sala may have issues on the other side.
Sean McDermott, Buffalo.
I've been critical at times.
He figured out the defense in Buffalo very quickly.
Okay?
The problem in Chicago is the defensive coach, two years?
I think it's worse.
Like, you've got to solve your side of the ball.
Brandon Staley with the Chargers.
Dude, you're a defensive coach.
Coach, your defense is getting worse.
Like the guy from Minnesota,
the new guy, O'Connell comes in.
And their defense wasn't great, but he made
Kirk Cousins about as good as Kirk Cousins
can be. Right, he's good. We like him.
So you got to be. Brian Flores in Miami
may have failed, but he made that defense good
overnight, make Daniel offense. The problem
in Chicago is the defensive coach.
The defense, I think, is worse.
You've got to master your side
of the ball within two years. So
I just need to ask you. Let's say Solic gets
K and they win five games, okay?
He's not going to get canned.
Would you like to place a wager on that?
Yes.
Okay.
If the Jets win five or six games, he's done.
No way.
Okay.
He's getting his job.
You name the price.
I'll let you set it.
There's no way.
Okay, you name the price.
First of all, they need a...
You've got to eat...
You've got to bring a box of wheat thins on the set and eat it every hour.
I'm not going to do a food stunt.
No, dude, just eating wheat thins on the set.
Like, come on, clatton.
You had this thing?
That's not a...
That's not...
Let's not...
Letus.
What?
You have to give me your best...
football pick every week privately.
I do that already.
No, you don't.
I wish you did.
Let's do something public, honestly.
I'm not saying fire solid.
Because Saul has proven
great energy,
defensive wins.
Okay, where's the energy?
Where's the defensive stops?
Well, they're three and out.
You can't do anything with this offense.
Oh, okay.
Excuse me.
Well, why weren't you ready?
Why weren't you ready if something happens
to your 40-year-old quarterback?
Now you're sounding like guy with the
fire hat on.
I'm not fireman Ed, okay?
I'm not into that.
I'm into winning, and they haven't done any of that lately.
We'll talk about a wager, but Colin, I'm sorry.
You've got to get rid of it.
Seven games last year, one.
Come on.
With a bunch of jokers of quarterback.
Come on.
You can't keep firing coaches.
Why?
You haven't made the playoffs in over a decade.
The longest stretch.
And that's why, because the best coaches take their name out of consideration.
They don't want anything to do with the Jets.
Fine.
Let's talk about something positive.
Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift.
They were at Arrowhead Sunday.
Maybe he'll be at the Jet Stadium.
stadium.
So rooting for this.
Will you see Taylor Swift like laughing at the Jets ineptitude?
I mean, look at her.
She's a true fan.
Listen, I hope she doesn't bring her mom to the game.
Zach Wilson might make a move in the, oh, I should not.
All right.
Anyways, so Kelsey talked about his weekend with Taylor Swift and the rumors on his new,
new heights presented by Wave Sports and Entertainment podcast.
We've been avoiding this subject out of respect for your personal life.
but now
we got to talk about it
yeah my personal life that's not so personal
I did this to myself
Jason I know this
how does it feel that
Taylor Swift has finally put you on the map
I just thought it was awesome
how everybody in the suite had nothing but
great things to say about her
you know the friends of family
she looked amazing everybody was talking about her
in great light to see the slow motion
chest bumps to see the
high fives with
mom to see how, you know, Chief Kingdom was all excited that she was there.
That shit was absolutely hysterical.
And it was definitely a game I'll remember.
That's for damn sure.
Oh, our editing team missed something.
I think they're very, they're very.
Have you seen what's happening, Travis Kelsey's like Instagram following, of course it's
endorsement?
He's the Blake Griffin.
He's a better version.
But he's like Blake Griffin.
It's like he's on every commercial.
So let me ask a real question.
Is Taylor Swift the most famous female in the world right now?
She's up there.
We had this discussion at the dinner table.
You know, my family, we're all in on Swift.
Okay, I think she's way up there.
I don't know who are like...
Oprah.
Oprah and Beyonce.
But again, does Oprah appeal to the, you know, the tween crowd the way Taylor Swift does?
No, I think Taylor Swift is probably the most famous.
Everybody, I mean, yeah.
I like how he's like, oh, everybody in the press box liked her.
What do you expect?
I mean, what's not to like about?
She's a true fan.
She's been a fan for years.
We finally got to see it.
Yeah?
I think you're all in on T. Swift.
You know, I'm not, I know what I listened to yesterday.
I go to YouTube about once a week and I'm in the car and I just want music.
You guys would laugh at me.
YouTube?
I went and listened to Usher and Justin Timberlake.
To get excited for the Super Bowl?
I just wanted to hear the music.
Best Usher song that you know?
I don't want to get into the name.
Timberlake has a song called Mirrors, which I think sounds so unique.
It's a great song.
I don't know if it's a great song by critics, but it sounds different.
I'm not a Timberlake guy.
Howdy are you not a Timberlake guy?
I don't know.
I just never got into him.
I didn't think he was like that cool.
Why did Usher?
Usher was great.
Usher was the man.
And then he stopped and started producing.
It's like, dude, you had another 20 years to be great.
It was less work and more money, right?
When you're producing, I'll give you guys all songs.
I don't have to go touring.
Touring's where the big bucks are, but that's exhausting.
Any other Taylor Swift questions before you move on?
No, okay.
Well, the final story.
I know you're friends with him, but I might take a shot here.
Eli Manning had his entire 16-year career.
Eagles were the biggest rivals in the NFC East when he was with the Giants.
And he had some thoughts on the Eagles and thinks they're the team to beat in the NFC.
I think the Eagles are extremely dangerous.
And I think really probably haven't played their best football yet are still 3-0,
which I think shows that they're a good team.
When you're able to maybe not be hitting on all cylinders yet, find ways to win games,
that means that's a pretty good quality and a pretty good trait.
And so I think there's still the team to beat in the NFC, you know, them in the 49ers.
I think the Eagles are the team to beat.
They, you know, showed that last year and then, you know, making the run to the Super Bowl.
They're off to another good start.
Yeah.
The Eagles are extremely dangerous.
Way to go out on a limb there, Eli.
Eli's not.
Oh, my goodness.
He's not a hot take artist.
He gives you the meat and potatoes of sports.
What do the people out there like?
They want takes.
They don't want to hear the Eagles are extremely dangerous.
Everybody likes Eli Manning.
Nobody dislikes Eli Manning.
You think he's got a high Q rating?
I think he's very liked.
I think the Manning family are American football royalty,
and on this show we don't criticize them.
There are the Manning family.
There are no sacred cows on this show.
You know that.
Everyone is fair game.
Well, I know, but I do like the Manning's.
long. Do you like, I care more about
his take. The Eagles are extremely dangerous.
Tom could be very, very careful about
ripping Tom Cruise. My wife doesn't like him,
but I do. No, no, he's got a, his catalog.
Derek Jeter's also kind of a different level.
Those guys, you can't. But if I came on this show
the first weekend, I said, Colin, the Eagles are extremely
dangerous. You'd be like, do we need to replace
back and tires? It was just a bite from Eli
Manning. Why did it have to be sensational?
We need it. You ran it. I didn't
choose it. Well, you know,
it's your herd line, not mine.
I did so I could take a shot at it.
Why would you do that?
Well, you know, you played for the Giants.
I'm a Jets guy.
Hello, add it up.
Come on, Tiki Barber.
Last month.
Maybe the show does have sacred cows.
We don't have agendas.
That was a bit of an agenda.
I got no problem with the day.
By the way, the last time I took a shot at a giant, Lil Wayne sent me a DM on Instagram.
You know, Lil Wayne, the Big Dubs.
He's like, man, you went after Tiki Barber.
Bigotiki's another fine.
Can we stop picking on local broadcasters, too?
Let's be nice to people.
Here we go.
All right.

Yo, of course you know us as the host of the number one rated show in all

Yeah.
Now, the suits at Fox Sports Radio gave us this air time,
because they wanted us to tell you how great our show is.
Why?
Yeah, instead of us doing that, let's just let our millions of fans do the talking.
Yeah, play the tape.

For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All eyes are on Coach Prime in Colorado for the game of the year this Big Noon Saturday.
Quarterback, Shedur Sanders, Lisa Buffaloes against Caleb Williams and the Trojans.
It all starts at 10 Eastern with Big Noon kickoff back in Boulder.
USC Colorado Saturday at noon eastern.
So betting against the point spread is one thing.
But picking winners going into an NFL season, division winners, conference winners, that kind of stuff,
I think it's getting easier as the sport becomes more quarterback and coach-centric,
especially offensive coach and quarterback-centric.
So as of right now, you can tell better very quickly in this league.
As of right now, we're just through week three.
So tomorrow, Detroit plays Green Bay, start a week four.
So as of right now through three weeks, and I may not get my picks right, but it does show
you, I think, that half the league is either so bad at quarterback or so poorly run, you can
eliminate half the NFL from the playoffs.
And I'm not joking.
Start counting and doing the work yourself.
There's some bad owners, bad executives, and bad quarterbacks.
Sometimes they're all in the same place.
But right now in the NFC, for instance, through three weeks.
Let's put it up there, the NFC.
So we had Philly and Dallas in the playoffs, that's where they are.
If Detroit beats Green Bay Thursday, they will lead the division.
That's where we had them as the only playoff team from that division.
Right now, the Falcons and Saints lead the NFC North, our picks, the Niners, and the Seahawks do, our picks.
So we are just a lion's win over Green Bay.
favored from having seven for seven right NFC.
Now, it's early, but I don't think it's hard.
The teams have capable quarterbacks or offensive skill people or like in the
NFC South Atlanta's just in a bad division.
Let's go to the AFC.
Now, we don't know what the hell's going on with the AFC South.
I can't explain the Jaguars.
That's a miss by me so far.
They're just a mess.
But again, AFC East.
We had Miami Buffalo as playoff teams.
AFC North.
We had Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
Right now, it's all on Joe Burroughs' cast.
it gets better, they'll vie to the end.
AFC South, we're lost.
AFC West, if the Chargers beat the Raiders and they're favored by almost a touchdown,
we'll have the AFC West, Kansas City and the Chargers.
So again, NFC, we've nailed, AFC, we need the Chargers to win, and Joe Burroughs
calf to get right.
Again, I think Jacksonville will get it right, I think, but they got housed at home by Houston.
I don't know what to make of that.
They're just a weird division that has been for years.
but my point being is
is as the leagues become
very much about the quarterback and who's
coaching the quarterback and because
it's such big business now in the NFL,
if you come in as a rookie quarterback
and you're not good by Thanksgiving a year
two, teams bail on you.
It feels like, I mean, Zach Wilson's
dumb, but it feels like Justin Fields
got to win like six, seven games, or maybe
eight and they're done. So there's where we are
this week. I
Detroit
is the team that
Jacksonville's bad and I can't figure it out.
Cincinnati is, I can figure it out.
It's a calf.
Detroit, I think, wins tomorrow night.
I think they have a better team overall.
I think they have a more veteran quarterback.
I think they have generally a more consistent pass rush off the edge.
So I'm going to go with Detroit to beat Green Bay.
But I'm like J-Mack.
I don't know what to make a Jordan love.
I can't have a definitive opinion.
He's been great in one fourth quarter, terrible in another.
and I think that's what you get with young quarterbacks.
You get the roller coaster.
Kenny Pickett, Anthony Richardson, you get a roller coaster.
Generally, as a quarterback gets older, you kind of know what you get on Sunday.
I mean, Derek Carr before he was hurt, that's what you get.
Jordan Love, it depends on the week.
Let me ask you about a team that I think you're overlooking.
Okay, so you had Miami number one in your herd hierarchy, right?
Who played them toughest so far through games?
New England.
No.
Chargers.
Chargers led them in the fourth quarter.
might have needed a miracle comeback from two-over-two-third-down conversions and the Chargers
had a chance to win. Chargers Raiders this week. Then Chargers, Cowboys, Chiefs, Bears. The schedule
starts to loosen up here. If the Chargers can get healthy, Colin, I'm just going to say,
keep an eye on them. I know we don't love Staley, but I trust Herbert, man.
Austin Echler may get his money after all. Pay that man. No Mike Williams. They need in the red
zone. Austin Eckler, no doubt about it, short-yarded situations. Hour three.
