Starting point is 00:03:24 We've got clarity. Denver's for real. The Bears are for real. Packers probably trending the other way. New England's still fine. But we all knew with New England, kind of still in a rebuild. second half yesterday, banged up O-line, sort of proved it. Well, we do it every Monday at this time.
Starting point is 00:03:44 We take swings. I'm wrong often. And here we go. Where Colin was right? I said all off-season, and I've said for the last month, I think the Chiefs are in a rebuild, not just a retool. Next year, they're 44 million over the cap. They got shut out in the second half.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Isaiah Pacheco was their leading rusher at 21 yards. I don't think they're talented enough. I think they need to address the O line, the D line, the running back room, the tight end room. I had them as a wild card team. And yeah, they've had some close losses, but there was no question watching yesterday. This is not a team that's just, you know, a player or two away. Where Colin was wrong. You know, I've always said Dan Campbell builds a great culture.
Starting point is 00:04:34 I don't consider him a scheme guy, but since he's taken over the play calling, he's been great. Detroit's number two in total offense, number one in yards per play. He has unlocked James and Williams. He's done a great job. Dan Campbell is a much better coach calling plays than I would have imagined. That offense is not the problem. Brian Branch losing him in the back end. That really hurts because you've got to win some shootouts in the NFC the way the quarterbacks are developing. But I've been a little hard on Dan Campbell. I think he's done a great job taking over play call where Colin was right all my concerns with
Starting point is 00:05:14 brian schottenheimer have surfaced with extra time to prepare that offensive performance two for 12 on third down just not good enough six seven and one they're now a bad red zone team 18th in the league and again that's with DAC that's with a run game that's with elite wide receivers They're just not a consistent team. I do think the future is brighter than many believe, but all the things we worried about getting out coast and big spots, situationally being mid, they've all surfaced. Where Colin was wrong.
Starting point is 00:05:53 I was okay with Pete Carroll being hired with the Raiders. I thought he would steady the ship. It's been a disaster. He's lost his fastball. 75 total yards against Philadelphia. on that's that's brutal so his last couple of years in seattle it didn't feel like he was current i don't know what the raiders do well they are they are the worst team in the nfl and there's nothing you can point to outside of max crosbie and brock bowers that you like where colin was right my guy bo necks
Starting point is 00:06:25 outplayed jordan love four tuddies four different receivers four for four in the red zone listen when he was at Oregon. I watched them live twice. Super athletic, got a Steve Young quality, hard to get your arms around, never get sacked, very creative, very deceptive, not a great deep ball thrower, though he was eight for 12 yesterday downfield. Where Colin was wrong. Well, the Jags are a franchise I never trust, but they've won five straight. You can't run on them. Number one run defense. Trevor Lawrence in the last several weeks. 10 touchdowns, no picks in three games. And they're doing that without Travis Hunter, they're star rookie.
Starting point is 00:07:11 So, I mean, Trevor Lawrence has always had talent. The Jags have always had talent. But Liam Cohen, they got him an offensive guy who had some great moments with Baker Mayfield. Jacksonville has drafted at the top of rounds for a long time. There's no question they've got talent. And now it's all coming together. Where Colin was right? I said Friday.
Starting point is 00:07:33 is it possible Philip Rivers will be fine? He was never athletic anyway. I mean, I watched Kirk Cousins last Thursday. He was money. My prediction was he never relied on athleticism. Seattle's going to have a conservative game plan. It's very possible he's okay. I'll be honest, his arm didn't have a ton of juice, but I thought Stuyken with the screens underneath stuff did a great job calling the game. And overall, when you don't rely on athleticism, it makes it easier as you age. Where Colin was right? C.J. Stroud, I keep hearing, well, sophomore slump.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Listen, dude throws one of the prettiest balls in the league. If you give him a little time, he's money. I will defend C.J. Stroud. He wants to throw from the pocket. He's good enough moving. Nico Collison, he's got his number one receiver in the last, since week four. 13 touchdowns, three picks, with a very inconsistent. consistent run game. They've been, you know, hit and miss. They've had injuries around him.
Starting point is 00:08:38 C.J. Stroud, I'll defend him. That's a franchise quarterback. He'll run if he has to, but he's developed a really keen sense of the pocket. Where Colin was right, where Colin was wrong. And with that, Albert Breer, cover in the NFL since 2005. You know, it's funny, Sean Payton texted me the last two years. He said, you guys can pay attention to the other quarterbacks, they're fine. He goes, I've got a really, really good quarterback. I thought last yesterday was a moment where you could no longer deny he's a special player. He was a, he's a special player and you can't deny it. Is that fair? Yeah, I mean, it wasn't perfect. There were a couple of, I think, opportunities for the Packers to create turnovers. But I think part of that is that
Starting point is 00:09:28 the Broncos becoming more comfortable in taking the leash off of Bow Nix and letting him go out there and be a little bit more of a playmaker. And to me, it was the downfield throws over and over and over again yesterday where they were able to get a really good Packers defense. And there was one in particular, Colin, that I think reflected Sean Payton's level of trust in his quarterback. Fourth and two, nine minutes left. Yep. And the Broncos are up by a point.
Starting point is 00:09:54 If they don't pick that up, the complexion of the entire game changes. And you would think with a second air quarterback in that spot, maybe you run the ball, maybe you run a little flat router, you roll them out and give them the option to run or throw. Instead, Sean Payton drops Bo Nix back and takes a shot down field to Cortland Sutton. Bo Nix hits that. The Broncos wind up scoring a touchdown. That gives them the separation they need.
Starting point is 00:10:19 To me, in that spot, on a fourth and two, Sean Payton's confidence to put the ball in Bo Nix's hands, but potentially home field advantage throughout the playoffs on the line, I think tells you a lot about where they are right now, just as far as the progression of Bow Nix's growth and they're trust in him. And the Broncos now look like, I mean, again, two more wins, and the AFC Road goes through Denver. That's a very difficult place to play.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, the Broncos have a lot of things going right now, and the quarterback is very clearly a big part of it. Yeah, even Belichick and Brady didn't want to go to Denver. It's just a tough place to play with the altitude. So I'm watching, you know, I said it's hard to develop a quarterback and win game simultaneously. That's what Ben Johnson's done. There was a time in week three or four, I said on the air, you could watch Ben Johnson's body language.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I think he's the best first time higher since Sean McVeigh. Let's go back to like week three and four in your sourcing where it was a little choppy early. Ben was getting frustrated at press conferences. We forget that, right? I'm going to put this delicately. They didn't teach him how to play quarterback. Like, that's really what it was. You know, and like they felt like we got to figure out, like, how much we can throw
Starting point is 00:11:37 on to this kid, how much this kid can handle, because they felt like he was smart and he had the aptitude to do it. But they got a player who they felt like was really raw. And one thing I really respect about the way Ben handled this, Colin, was going back to this summer. And I think you and I talked about it a bunch, right? like where they were feeding him through a fire hose. And Ben didn't really care if it didn't look good in the summer.
Starting point is 00:11:59 It was we're going to overload him with information now. And then we'll scale it back as we build the offense and we'll lean into what he's good at. And then we'll build him back up from there. And there are a lot of coaches, I think, in their first training camp in a new place that would be afraid to do something like that, right? Especially in a market like Chicago where a player's performance and practice is going to be digested in a different way on a day-to-day basis. Ben didn't care. Ben thought Caleb could handle it. And I think what you're seeing now, and then I just went back and looked at a bunch of that
Starting point is 00:12:32 game against the Browns yesterday. He's calm in the pocket. There was a play in the first quarter he made where he sat back there, looked at his first read, looked at his second read, let Luther Burden come open over the middle, and just delivered a dart. And it was just one of those plays where you see how calm and cool he was in the pocket where he wouldn't have made that throw two months ago. And again, it's like a little thing that you don't notice if you're not looking for it, but it's happening over and over and over again. And so I think through playing good defensive football, through building a really, really difficult to deal with run game, they've bought Caleb Williams time to develop. And now you're seeing the approach that they took with Caleb Williams over the summer started to pay off. And that Caleb has seen a lot now, both in practice and in games, and is benefiting from it and how calm he was.
Starting point is 00:13:23 looks back there. So I will stand by this and die on this hill. I love Brett Veach but I said it earlier Kansas City is like Marvel Comics. They're trying to develop new characters and they're
Starting point is 00:13:38 struggling. They're like Jones and Mahomes and Travis Kelsey and it's like so you've got to keep going back to like Iron Man right? Yeah it's like they're trying to develop new guys and they can't trust Rishie Rice and were these more of a gadget guy and I kind of look at him.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I think it's a bit more of a rebuild than a retool. I'm looking at the Rams' eighth, ninth best player. It could be Nate Landman. I look at their fourth best and it's Travis Kelsey who may retire. I watched yesterday. Herbert was better than Mahomes. I think the Chargers have more elite players. What are you on their future in Kansas City?
Starting point is 00:14:16 You know, we always make the parallel to Brady, right? because of like the heights that Mahomes has reached early in his career. And I sort of think that you can learn some stuff from what happened when Brady tours ACL, which by the way, like, interestingly enough, was almost at the same juncture of Brady's careers as has happened with Mahomes now. Look back, right? So 2008, Brady goes down. Matt Castle wins 11 games.
Starting point is 00:14:42 That causes the Patriots to say, okay, we're going to lean in and try to win with this aging roster one more time. It doesn't work in 2009. Then the beginning of 2010, Belichick goes in and literally tears all sorts of evidence of any championship football off the walls and says, we're starting over again. And then they really got on a heater from a draft perspective, right? That draft in 2010, Devin McCordy, Rob Grunkowski, Aaron Hernandez, they get Nate Solder to the left tackle the year after that, the year after that, Chandler Jones, Dante Hightower, and they're off and running. And so I think that's sort of the juncture the chiefs are at now where this is going to give. them an organic opportunity to look big picture at where they're at, right?
Starting point is 00:15:23 We'll see the extent of the ligament damage beyond just the ACL and what that means for Pat in 2026. But I think it's incumbent on the chiefs now to look at it and say this isn't just about 26. This is about 27 and moving forward and the next iteration of the chiefs. And so where does George Carloffes fit into that? Where does Nick Bolton fit into that? Where does Trent McDuffey fit into that? Those guys are going to be kind of the veteran players on the next iteration, right? How do we put ourselves in position to draft really well over the next few years? And when do we separate from Travis Kelsey and Chris Jones? Because at this point, you're looking at it and saying, well, if Mahomes is only out there for half the 26th season or three quarters of the 26th season, do we want to have the older guys around?
Starting point is 00:16:10 So there are all these big picture questions. I think that the chiefs probably had to answer anyway that now they're organically going to be faced with, because of the injury their quarterback has. And so, again, like, I think this actually provides an opportunity for them the same way maybe Brady's ACL injury gave the Patriots some clarity and really, I think, served as the first step towards them building the second version of their dynasty. So, listen, Josh Allen is four-and-o this year when he has to score 30 points.
Starting point is 00:16:45 When they score 30, they're four-no. Because he has to. and yesterday another example he goes into the phone booth comes out with a cape saves the citizens of Buffalo like I've seen this I want to see it in the playoffs I just look at him and I think to myself
Starting point is 00:16:59 this is not a conference championship team they don't have the defense of Houston I don't think they have the coaching of New England I thought it was a great win for them but New England still let's be honest they're kind of still a little bit of a rebuild and they don't have the depth on the O line
Starting point is 00:17:16 right now that if they're missing a starter, their backups just aren't going to be great in those spots. So I looked at it yesterday and everybody's like, oh, big win for Buffalo. That doesn't look like a defense that can end up in a conference championship. And I, listen, it's not Cincinnati where I felt Joe Burrell almost feels like nobody's here to help me. But you can only ask Josh Allen to be John L.A. Plus Plus, plus, plus so many times before the star quarterback, says, I need a new guy, right? Yeah, I think there's a psychological element, though,
Starting point is 00:17:54 to what Josh Allen has done to that Buffalo team. He's the best player in the league right now, right? So I think he provides you with a certain level of belief that allows you to fix things as the game goes on. Does that make sense? So, like, I look at it, and I have some of the numbers written down here, the Patriots rush for 177 yards in the first half.
Starting point is 00:18:14 In the second half, they rush for just 69 and 65 of those yards. yards were on one play. Drake May only threw for 47 yards in the in the second half. The bills were able to run the ball more effectively in the second half. Why does that happen? Well, it's because they aren't panicking when they're down 21 to nothing because they have the best player in the planet. And it gives the coaches and the players the leeway to fix things on the fly, which I think has really empowered them and almost become the identity of the team. And like, look, like you look at the last five weeks, right? Four wins in the last five weeks. they played against the bucks.
Starting point is 00:18:47 They came from behind, finished on a 23 to 6 run. Steelers, they fell behind, finished on a 23 to nothing run. Against the Bengals last week, they fell behind, they finished on a 21 to 6 run. And then yesterday against the Patriots, in a raucous environment, Patriots are ready to take the AFCEs from go up 21 to nothing. They finished that game on a 35 to 7 run. It's sort of become who the bills are, and they are going to get some pieces back. And that's what's interesting about this.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Ed Oliver could come back in the playoffs. Best defensive player. They haven't had them for most of the year. Terrell Bernard, going to be back at linebacker. On offense, does Brandon Cooks get a little bit more comfortable? Dalton Kincaid's healthy now. I'm with you. I'm not sure they're good enough right now to run the table in the playoffs and win it all.
Starting point is 00:19:37 But I think this is a team that's getting better. And I think Allen's allowed them and bought them time to get better. And so this may look like a different team. five or six weeks from now than it does now, because I think it looks like a different team now than it did a month ago. By the way, nine field goals. It's the most entertaining nine field goal game, I would say, in league history. I could not take my eyes off of Philip Rivers.
Starting point is 00:20:00 I know. I said last week, I watched. He was carrying the flag for all of us out there, Colin. I mean, listen, you plan for the rest of the year. They're not, you know, they're obviously Houston and Jacksonville are in a different space right now. this is the final Philip Rivers run right there this is just really fun it's eye candy it's a great time but in in a few weeks it'll be over right yeah I would think so I mean like that what I like about this story more than anything else I think it's happening for really pure reasons there's no
Starting point is 00:20:34 ulterior motive here this is I know Philip actually retired five years ago because he wanted to coach his son and his dad coached him and he wanted to to coach his son and his son was getting close to high school age and so he wanted to go on coach. And the reason that this opportunity made sense for him is actually because his high school season was over. And so he had always, over the last couple of years, kept it in his head that if this ever happened, like, and I remember if you go back years and years and years ago, you remember this happened with Josh McCown and the Bears, I think, in like 2013 or something. And he always had it in his head, like if one of two teams calls, I've got to listen.
Starting point is 00:21:14 That's the Chargers and the Colts, right? Like, if one or two teams calls, like, I want to at least be in shape where I can think about this sort of thing. And so he kept him, he kept throwing. You know, he kept himself young by being around the high school kids and working with some of the young kids getting ready for the draft. Riley Leonard was one of the kids he worked with last year, actually. Bo Nix and Drake May the year before that.
Starting point is 00:21:36 And I just think it's a really good story for that reason. And, man, like, you know, you think about the long field goes in this one, right? a 60-yarder and a 56-yarder, which is another topic for another day and how a game has won that way. But if that 60-yarder stands up as the game winner, we're all talking about the back shoulder throw that he made to Alec Pierce at the end of that game, put them in field goal range, which to me, like, that's a rhythm throw, that's a timing throw. How crazy is it, Colin, that this guy after a five-year layoff is able to make that throw in a high-leverage situation against what I think is one of the three or four best teams in the league.
Starting point is 00:22:16 It's a really remarkable story. And I hope everybody can just take it for that. You know what I mean? Like I hope everybody can just take this as a good story about a guy who loves football that much, who is coaching his kid, who's season-ended. And now, you know, one of his best friends in all of football calls him because they have a catastrophic quarterback injury situation. He steps in and he's able to play another month of football.
Starting point is 00:22:39 I think it's a really good story, no matter how it. turns out. But yeah, I'd say this is probably hit for him. I'd be surprised if he were back in any capacity next year. Finally, Dolphins tonight. So they got rid of their GM. And I think I've always said, Albert, I don't like interim coaches. They go on a winning streak. And suddenly everybody's like, let's give him the job. It's like, no, keep Mike McDaniel in. He's a good guy. He's a clever offensive guy. They've got on a winning streak. They've played well in cold football. If they beat Pittsburgh tonight and win all but maybe one of their remaining games, is there a chance Is that because now they're physical.
Starting point is 00:23:13 That was always the knock. They're running the ball. Yeah. Can Mike, can he save his job? Yes, yes. And like, you know, it's actually interesting. When you go back to Halloween, when they fired their longtime general manager, Chris Greer,
Starting point is 00:23:27 the question I asked was, what's the barometer now for Mike McDaniel? And I think what the front office wanted to see was, like, is this team locked in? Does he still have control of the locker room? Because that was the biggest question, right? Like early in the season, it was, is his coaching style still working? Does he still have command of the locker room? And, you know, I think if you look at what Mike did is he leaned even further into who he is as a coach.
Starting point is 00:23:52 They're running the ball really, really well. Like you said, they're more physical now. They've taken the ball out of to his hands to some degree. And I think it's just Mike saying, screw it. Like, I'm going to do what I believe is best for this football team to win games on a week-to-week basis based on how we're built right. now with no Tyreek Hill with a quarterback who's somewhat limited and I think what you've seen now is like a a real look at how Mike was able to reel all this in even with a different personality and put the team in position to win and it's actually interesting if you go back to when this
Starting point is 00:24:29 first happened again like one of the that that thing i heard about him having control a locker room well one of the things that kept Steve Ross from pulling the plug on McDaniel back then you know, back then was he kept hearing from people, this guy's going to be a great head coach when he gets his second chance. And I think Ross sort of thought to himself, well, why would we fire him then? Why don't we give him a second chance now and see how he does? And so I think giving him that opportunity has given him some new life. And my guess would be, this is just a guess, my guess would be they hire a new general manager, they pair him with their cap guy who now is in a little bit of an elevated role on Brandon Shore. And then Mike McDaniel goes into 2026 under
Starting point is 00:25:13 evaluation. And let's see what you got. Tua, that's the 26 is the last year of guaranteed money in his contract. So they aren't married to Tua beyond 2026. And it kind of gives them a new general manager a chance to come in, work with Brandon Shore. Again, a guy who's very close to ownership there, work under the president, Tom Garfinkel and with Ross and his son-in-law. And you get to see now what that new setup looks like and how Mike McDaniel fits into it. And you go forward from there. And I think you've got to give Ross some credit here. Having patience with McDaniel when he got rid of the general manager certainly seems to have paid off.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Albert Breer on a Monday Monday morning quarterback. Thanks, Albert, as always. All right, thanks, Colin. A lot of these coaches, Brandon Staley got a little stubborn, you know, certain coaches like, this is who I am, this is what I am, I'm going to be right. You got to give the Miami guy credit. He takes a step back and says, you know what? we've got to be a little bit more physical.
Starting point is 00:26:07 We can't rely on Tua. The weather is now lousy, and they look like a different team. They have been running the football. I actually think it's going to be a really competitive game. They got into Pittsburgh. I think it was like Saturday, and they had a late night practice. They're all playing in the snow, and it's like, exactly. That's what you got to do.
Starting point is 00:26:23 One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the IHeart radio app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. Check us out on YouTube, subscribe, hit that thumbs up icon, and comment away. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name?
Starting point is 00:27:07 Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special.
Starting point is 00:27:22 So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:27:47 And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about Defying the Odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin
Starting point is 00:28:22 Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the bar like, after you go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it. out real quick.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Oh, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Joe Dono. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody!
Starting point is 00:29:13 Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian.
Starting point is 00:29:32 I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream, cream a chicken suit.
Starting point is 00:29:53 This is help from a hypocrite. The worst advice from the dumbest. people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down. Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. I like the bougie style of Housewives of Housewives
Starting point is 00:30:23 show. I think it looks like to be interesting. On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real Housewives franchise, the drama, the alliances, and the team everybody's talking about. As an executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it. I understand the game.
Starting point is 00:30:45 As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this. At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment. To hear this and more, Listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown
Starting point is 00:31:18 and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practices that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier. We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown. from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome back. I'll tell you, New York football is an absolute hazmat's bill. It's awful. The coordinators for the L.A. teams,
Starting point is 00:32:15 I mean, Jesse Minter and Chris Shula are better than the head coaches in New York. They're just, I mean, New York can't get football right. I mean, Aaron Glenn, he fires Steve Wilkes. Well, Steve Wilkes was a bounce around the NFL guy. Like, this is the New York Jets. Like, Steve Wilkes was the best candidate. He'd been bounced out of San Francisco.
Starting point is 00:32:40 Like, they just don't know what they're doing. It's bad. Ownership's not very good. Front offices aren't great. The coaches are over there skis. New York football. Chicago's got it going now. I mean, there's just a lot of the big cities
Starting point is 00:32:54 the NFL, like, finally got it all going. New York has two gigantic tire fires. They can't keep Jackson dart out of the blue tent. Aaron Glenn, I mean, the defense, I thought he was a defensive coach. It's just awful. Jay Mack with the news. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I'm such an egomaniac that when any time you take shots at the Jets, I feel personally aggrieved. Like you're just dogging me out. It is bad. We are down bad. You know who's not right now? The Pittsburgh Steelers. They are on top of the world, leading the division.
Starting point is 00:33:34 And I had to triple check this stat. Are you ready for this? Mike Tomlin hosts the dolphins tonight, Monday night football. He is 22 and O at home on Monday night football. That is unbelievable. There's a lot of noise about Tomlin's future in Pittsburgh. Aaron Rogers. All he's doing is praising Mike Tomlin.
Starting point is 00:33:51 every team is looking for that special sauce of a coach who can lead and be consistent and and uh you know be involved understand how to delegate lead when it needs to be done and uh you know have a unique perspective and guys who played else who have a neat perspective coming in here but the guys that are here should understand how special uh it is to have a guy like that leading the team yeah um i kind of feel like all steeler seasons look the same i i love what's happening with Miami right now. I think it's a great story. What I don't like is interim coaches.
Starting point is 00:34:30 I like when you're like, no, we're going to stay with this coach. And very rarely do they turn it around. Pittsburgh, I don't know what I'm getting because week to week, I mean, Aaron will be fine, but week to week, kind of you get a different team. I'm surprised to hear you saying nice things about Mike McDaniel. Boy, when they were down bad at like one in five. They looked lost. You were hammering that guy.
Starting point is 00:34:56 You like him now, huh? Well, I like that somebody said, looked in the mirror, own their stuff, and course corrected. I'm not into rigid people. He obviously said, let's stop this charade leaning on to him. We're going to be physical and run the football. They have, they look different. A. Chan looks like he's a go. And the young kid, Jalen Wright, has some pop.
Starting point is 00:35:17 This was three and a half last week. You and I got three and a half. It's at three now. I don't love it as much. T.J. Watt officially out, and it will be under 20 degrees tonight. But I'm sure you saw over the weekend, Miami went early to Pittsburgh,
Starting point is 00:35:30 and I think Friday night or Saturday night, they were in the stadium with the snow on the ground practicing. Mike Big Daniel. He's all grown up, right? We like that. All right, let's move on to, let's stay in the AFC North and go to Joe Burrow. Listen, I think this is going to be the topic dejor of the offseason. Forget fixing the Chiefs. What do we do with Joe Burrow? And I know Bengals fans say there's no way we're losing him.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Colin, you texted me yesterday. They look like they quit. And I'm a thousand percent behind you. It's interesting that the team, I mean, Jamar Chase had a bad early drop. The team would quit a few days after Burrow made some, I'm not having fun comments. This is, this is, like, you think the Chiefs are a big rebuild. One of the lines have nothing. One of the linebackers for the Ravens was quoted after the game saying they weren't ready to play first.
Starting point is 00:36:21 series. I mean, classic bingles. It snowed in Cincinnati. And the NFL owner wouldn't clear the seats, which goes against NFL policy. They're just, I mean, it's, I feel I was thinking about this yesterday. I mean, I always say, chase, great management, not money. You can make money if you're talented in any field. Joe Burrow was essentially trapped. Trap with a coach, trapped with a bad old line, trapped with this ownership. He's trapped. There's nothing he can do. I mean, what are you going to do? Demand a trade? Well, we'll speculate in a second. Here is Burrough officially after the Bengals were eliminated from playoff contention. Here he is talking to the media. We haven't been a good football team.
Starting point is 00:37:04 You know, bad football teams do losing things. And, you know, if you're wanting to compete for championships and being in the playoffs, then number one, your quarterback has to play better than I did today. Okay. Yeah. So over the weekend, and I don't usually take a lot of social media stuff at all. Somebody said to me, Jay Mack, ask Colin this. What if the Bears and Ben Johnson said, hey, could we get Joe Burrow for Caleb Williams and a couple of draft picks?
Starting point is 00:37:38 No. I know that sounds crazy, but hold on, hold on. The Bengals are cheap. Caleb Williams is on his rookie deal, and he ain't getting no Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen type to. Why in the world, the bears are on fire, Burrow can't stay healthy? Well, he fits that offense, read and react, release quickly. None of this backyard football stuff. No, you're not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:37:58 I mean, people are into Caleb Williams. Turn on the talk ready on this town. People, you want a guy that's had three surgeries and is super expensive or a guy on the cheap for the next four years? Look, you're not getting out of that game. Okay, I thought you would take that in a heartbeat. No, God, no. Caleb Williams right now is more dynamic, not as accurate,
Starting point is 00:38:18 but that throw to DJ Moore yesterday was one of the throws of the year. That was a luck box. Come on. That should have been picked off by two different guys. Come, wait a bit. Really? You don't think Ben Johnson would be like, yes, I'll take that instantly. No.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Wow. Okay, okay, I'm shocked. All right, let's move to the final story, Colin. And it's Shindor Sanders. You got an up-close look at him in Chicago yesterday. Not good. Yeah, not great. That's a perfect summation.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Here is a pass to Jerry Judy. Boy, Jerry Judy can't catch a cold. Oh, my gosh. Jalen Johnson with a great pick there. The other two picks were not as good. good for Shadour. He threw three in the game. Here he is talking about afterward,
Starting point is 00:38:59 the interception to Judith. It is what it is. I'm not one that you know ever kick somebody down when he's down. You know, like he understands. That's a big play. And I'm sure he's hard on himself. So it's no need for me to be extra and do that.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Yeah, listen, that was a bad spot. They're out manned. Green Bay and Chicago are vying for the division lead in Detroit. So you had a very motivated Chicago Bears team with a lot more quality players. But it is interesting when you see Shadur and Caleb on the field at the same time, there's the A plus prospect and the B prospect. They don't love the same. You know, our colleague Chris Bouchard, obviously, we love him.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Yeah, he thought Shadour would be better than Caleb. Like, come on. like Chador, marginal starter at this stage. And this idea that he could open camp as their number one quarterback, stop it, folks. That's definitely not happening under any circumstances. And for people saying, can you believe they're still bagging on Kevin Stefansky, Colin?
Starting point is 00:40:09 Brown's fans, I think they're, what my kids say, Dululu. They're losing their mind here. They think Shador's the answer, and we just got to get rid of Stafansky, and everything will be fine. You watch that game, like, I don't see it, man. Yeah, go ahead, fire Stefansky. He'll get hired in Cincinnati and beat you for the next 10 years. Who wants that job, by the way?
Starting point is 00:40:29 Is that even an attractive job? Well, I mean, if you're a coordinator and you get seven times the salary and you get Joe Burrell. Yeah, and you'll be back on the street in 18 months with a lot more money in your pocket. No, because the Bengals do not fire coaches early. No, no, this is the Browns, though. The Browns are, they're impetuous. They're moving off guys instantly. That's true.
Starting point is 00:40:47 J-Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lod. news. Did you, for the record, OKC's big winning street got snapped last night by Wendy, who came off the bench. Wemby was unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:41:01 The Spurs won that game. So, OKC is, I said this last week, the NBA paralyzed by dynasties and tanking. Well, they've got one in OKC potentially by the end of this year. At least baseball's version, the Dodgers are interesting. I mean, I've never seen a team in the NBA in my life as great and dominant as OKC. and unless you're a diehard, none of the casuals care. None care. So you can be like anti-dynasty.
Starting point is 00:41:30 They happen in skiing, soccer, tennis, golf, college football, pro football, women's basketball. Get over this fear of dynasties. The NBA probably has another. What would you rather have? A Shaq and Kobe dynasty, a big trade with Orlando, or a KD dynasty, a big move by the Warriors or this one. Dynasties are going to happen. You just hope they're more interesting than the Tim Duncan dynasty, which felt kind of sleepy. But they're going to happen in sports because people are not even. By the way, did you watch the end of that game? That was a hell of a basketball game starting.
Starting point is 00:42:09 The Thunder are winning. They're good. By 17 a game. Yeah, I think the Spurs match up great with them. And San Antonio Wemba Njama late in that game, whof. Hey, speaking of dynasties, doesn't Wembenyama have the potential to have one? They're not trading Castle. They're not trading Harper. They look really good, man. Nick Spurs tomorrow night, NBA Cup final. Lock in, Cowherd.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard Radio app. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own. podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:42:54 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys. remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Starting point is 00:43:30 Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam. It's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:43:45 And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron Head and, into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
Starting point is 00:44:02 I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:44:21 And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah. You figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court,

We got a big East, Big Ten battle on Fox College Hoops Friday as Villanova takes on Wisconsin. It all tips off Friday night, 8 Eastern on Fox.
Starting point is 00:47:53 So, you know, yesterday, I really do think between Brable and Josh McDaniels, you have a really elite staff. You know, it just, they outschemed the bill staff so badly. They jumped out to a 21-0 lead, and they beat him earlier this year in Buffalo. And then Josh Allen, I mean, his December numbers, he steps into a phone booth, outcome Superman, in December, 68% completion percentage, 68 total touchdowns, nine interceptions.
Starting point is 00:48:23 This is in December since 2020. This is what he does. And, I mean, we joke about Superman, but if this keeps going, DC Comics will sue for infringement. This guy is just absolutely the best football player on the planet. And they're 4-0 when they've scored 30 plus points.
Starting point is 00:48:44 They have to regularly. They get out schemed. And, you know, I just, I watch this and I'm like, I want to see it in the playoffs. I know what they are. Now, now, here's Josh after another come from behind shootout win. It's the love that each man in that locker room has for each other. The willingness to put their body on the line in order to not let their teammates down. And I think that's the driving force.
Starting point is 00:49:09 We're not out of it. You know, we're going to continue to fight one play at a time. no matter what the score is, if it's in the third quarter, it's in the fourth quarter, whatever it is, you know, if we've got a chance and we got the ball, you know, we feel like we like our chances. They've only had two receivers yesterday catch a pass, very Allen and tight end dependent. The AFC is not as good at the top, but you have no Mojomes in the playoffs, no Burrow, Herbert's got a horrible offensive line. The Texans are not full of a lot of offensive firepower.
Starting point is 00:49:42 So I think all of us are looking at it thinking, can one player and a couple of nice pieces around him get to a Super Bowl? This is the year to do it. This is the year to get to a Super Bowl. Whoever comes out of the NFC, I think is the better team. But Denver yesterday proving they belong. So Buffalo is going to have to go somewhere. See, Jacksonville can run the ball. That's not good for Buffalo.
Starting point is 00:50:12 New England, Trayvion Henderson, had a couple of huge runs yesterday. Why? I think a lot of it is Buffalo doesn't defend the run particularly well. Now, Albert Breer took the optimistic angle on this Bill's team going forward. They aren't panicking when they're down 21 to nothing because they have the best player in the planet. And it gives the coaches and the players the leeway to fix things on the fly, which I think has really empowered them and almost become the identity of the team. I'm not sure they're good enough right now to run the table in the playoffs and win it all. But I think this is a team that's getting better.
Starting point is 00:50:48 And I think Allen's allowed them and bought them time to get better. And so this may look like a different team five or six weeks from now than it does now, because I think it looks like a different team now than it did a month ago. And they do get Ed Oliver back, who on that defensive front can be kind of a splash player, but he's their best player. But just watching this thing yesterday, and I'm thinking to myself when they lead 21, nothing and 24 to 7, I'm like, New England's still in a rebuild. And they're missing two starters in the left side of their offensive line.
Starting point is 00:51:18 This can't be happening. You know, it's funny, I was thinking about this when this game went on. Who would you really be disappointed in if they got knocked out first game in the playoffs? And even though I think the Bears have more good players in Denver certainly does, I think it tells you where we are with Josh Allen. this would be the team I think with a limited roster we would all go
Starting point is 00:51:42 okay you gotta replace the coach we wouldn't do that in Chicago we wouldn't do that in Denver we wouldn't do that in Jacksonville we wouldn't do that in New England we wouldn't do that with Harbaugh we wouldn't do it with Demico Ryan's but Buffalo despite
Starting point is 00:51:57 because that's they've wasted earlier opportunities when they had a better roster and they weren't paying Josh so if you look at those AFC teams what is the one team that if they lost their first game, you would say time for a coaching change.
Starting point is 00:52:13 And that's why, A, you got a strike when the iron's hot, and B, you have to take advantage of those tiny windows in the NFL when you have a great quarterback and a really good roster. I don't think Buffalo does. So, I mean, Trayvion Henderson, a couple of huge runs. They escape yesterday. If you go back to 2020 and look at Josh Allen's numbers in December, I mean, he's got so much horsepower.
Starting point is 00:52:41 I mean, look at those numbers. Sorry to the radio audience, but this is in the worst weather. This is in Buffalo. He doesn't play in a dome. That's a lot of games at 21 degrees and windy. He can't wait for that new stadium that cuts down on that. I'll say, my feeling is Denver and the Houston Texans today, I would take in the AFC championship.
Starting point is 00:53:03 Did you see that matchup? Hypothetically right now be Texans at Payser. Patriots in the first round. Who you got in that one? Let me sleep on it. Well, remember, first year quarterbacks in the playoffs, or first time quarterbacks in the playoffs, often struggle. Drake May, Caleb Williams. Careful.
Starting point is 00:53:19 Yeah. Hour three. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
