Starting point is 00:03:15 Here we go. It is a Monday. We're live in L.A. See that snow on the screen? Opposite here. 75, 80 degrees. Maybe I should call Ann. Send a plane ticket.
Starting point is 00:03:32 It's good to have you and Matt Hasselbeck in five minutes. It's a beautiful, beautiful day. Beautiful week ahead, weather-wise, Colin. It is. Urban Meyer next hour. Every week at this time, we do Colin Wright, Colin Wrong. Had another good. Blazing Five got Philly tonight, three and one.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Let's go to right and wrong. Where Colin was right? It's time to all acknowledge what we've been talking about. Jordan Love is out of this world good. Three Tuddies, 121 pass-er rating. He was the difference yesterday. Green Bay's defense got really tired. He didn't.
Starting point is 00:04:10 He's finally got a healthy, wide receiving core. Green Bay and the Rams, best two teams in the NFC, and a huge part of it is Jordan Love. Tall, moves, aggressive, not a lot of mistakes. It's time to admit it, folks. He's elite. Where Colin was wrong. I'll scale back on my cowboy.
Starting point is 00:04:34 love. They gave up 44 to Detroit. I still think their run defense, two first round picks. Quinn and Williams is really, really going to be strong going forward. But the truth is their past defense gives up $255 per game. They need help in the secondary. Many mock drafts have them going getting Caleb Downs of Ohio State. They're a really fun watch. I love their future, but defensively, they still need help. Where Colin was right? Said this last, couple of years, Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the NFL, not Patrick Mahomes. Josh is a more transformational physical specimen. Four total touchdowns, 140 passer rating, and he doesn't have a receiving core that's as good
Starting point is 00:05:18 as Patrick Mahomes. So don't tell me that, well, he's got a lot to work with. He's got tight ends. Yesterday, he couldn't trust in the red zone, James Cook. So let's give him the MVP again. He doesn't have the trophy case, but the best quarterback in the NFL is, you know, It's not Lamar. It's not Aaron Rogers.
Starting point is 00:05:37 It's not my homes. It's Josh Allen and has been for two years. Where Colin was wrong. The Indiana Hoosiers are a college football power. Hard to wrap my brain around that because I had a functioning television for the last 40 years. They went toe to toe in the trenches with Ohio State. It's not just Fernando Mendoza because Ohio State Julian Sands a great quarterback too. They, the Hoosiers held Ohio State to 58 yards rushing.
Starting point is 00:06:09 And Jackson's great as a running back. They held them to 10 points. So this wasn't just about a great quarterback and an excellent coach. This was the trenches. This was Indiana going toe to toe in the trenches with the number one program right now in college football. Blew me away. Where Colin was right? I've been defending Aaron Rogers all year.
Starting point is 00:06:32 He's not the problem. him. He's the most redeemable quality. He threw the ball down the field yesterday. He was moving around and scrambling. Seventh game this season with over 100 passer rating and they don't have a run game. Offensively, the O line is okay. After D.K. Metcalfe, what do they have at wide receiver? I've been critical of Aaron before. He's a bit, you know, moody and prickly. But he's been good. 42 years old or not, he's done a good job with what he has this year. where Colin was wrong. The Miami Dolphins have won four straight.
Starting point is 00:07:07 They have the same record as the Chiefs and the Ravens. Listen, Mike McDaniel, I always said I like his schemes. I like his play calling. I don't know if he's a head coach. He deserves a ton of credit to go up in lousy weather and to win the four straight game, and they were the better team physically. I mean, they gave up a long return.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Miami was a better team. Nobody has quit on this team. Mike McDaniel has not lost that locker room. They have the same record as the Kansas City Chiefs. I was wrong. Where Colin was right? The Miami Hurricanes are going to jump over Notre Dame. That's what I said and it's what they did.
Starting point is 00:07:46 The Irish had two games and they had to win one. They started the year with Texas A&M and Miami. You got to win one of them. Miami's got a big win and a tougher schedule. Their wins over Notre Dame head to head. Head to head isn't everything, but when you both have two, losses, it's the thing. And again, Notre Dame, join a conference. BYU did. Miami deserved to be in. Better against common opponents, won head-to-head. I don't really have a problem with Notre Dame
Starting point is 00:08:16 bailing on the bowl game, because I think bowl games are in conference championships are going to be a thing of the past within the next two years. But I thought Miami had kind of won public approval. people coming out, coaches who had played both teams, it was the right thing for college football to do. Where Colin was right? Mike McDonald, said it last year. I've said it this year. He is the defensive Sean McVeigh.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Seattle, this guy is no BS, alpha, smart, player-friendly. This is the second youngest offense in the league. He lets Sam Darnold make mistakes. He doesn't overcoach. He doesn't go conservative. Seattle found themselves the defensive version of Sean McVeigh, and they'll play each other twice a year going forward. With that, 18 years in the NFL, Matt Hasselbeck, as he does on Monday, joins us.
Starting point is 00:09:13 You know, I said this about dynasties. They don't fall off a cliff. They look like the Chiefs. They dominate, and they win big, and they win Super Bowls. Then they start winning close. And then the next year, they start losing close. And they're old players, you can see the age. and I'm watching Travis Kelsey
Starting point is 00:09:30 and I'm, you know, I kind of look at him and I thought last night, Houston had more like special players. Like I kind of think this is how it was going to look and to me this is how this is how dynasties end. Are you surprised? Well, yeah, I don't know if I'm exactly surprised. I think the rest of the league's gotten a lot better.
Starting point is 00:09:50 You know, they don't look as big, strong and fast and healthy as they've looked in the past. I think I've said it many times though. Details and discipline are the difference in the NFL. It's not always that. big of a gap in talent. And then when your star player doesn't play his best, and because of the reason guys around him, maybe it's drops, maybe it's throwing late down the middle, it's stuff you used to get away with. I mean, the three turnovers are uncharacteristic. They're really bad
Starting point is 00:10:13 interceptions that he had yesterday. But details, discipline, drops, third down, there's a lot of blame to go around. Listen, they've had continuity on the offensive staff or really on the staff in general for a long time. That can be a blessing. It can also be, you know, an opportunity to get complacent. And obviously, you know, we're used to them making the best decisions in coaching, game management, kind of that kind of stuff. And that wasn't the case last night as well. So a lot of blame to go around. This clearly just doesn't seem to be like their year. So Packers Bears was wildly entertaining. Green Bay dominates the first half. Bears had a very good second half. You know, I think everybody's sort of waiting to say, okay, the Bears are legit. They beat Philadelphia
Starting point is 00:10:55 in Philly and a lot of people said, well, the Eagles are broken. I don't know. I said earlier, I thought this was about as good a loss. I mean, Green Bay was favored by a touchdown. They're at home. They've been great for three decades. Chicago doesn't get in games like this where it matters. They don't get into these big games.
Starting point is 00:11:10 They had a bad first half. I watched that second half and I'm like, Green Bay is tired. Like Chicago does what good teams do in second halfs. Do you feel this legitimized the Bears, even though they lost? I mean, I think the bears are legitimate anyway. I just, last week I said, listen, I love this team. I really do. I'm not sold on their quarterback and I don't think they're the one seed.
Starting point is 00:11:32 You know, and the amount of hate I received for that, those two statements is, is wild. I feel the same. I feel the same. I think Ben Johnson's special. I, like, really, really special. I actually love the play call at the end of the game. I think it's a game winner. If not, it's a first down.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Like, I believe in this team. I think the Packers have something special, too. There's going to be another epic matchup. I was part of this rivalry. I understand it for three years. It's wild stuff happens. This was a wild game. There's going to be another matchup.
Starting point is 00:12:01 I think it'll be even better. You know, the handshake's funny to me. And like all this trash talk from the head coaches going back to the press conference when Ben Johnson got hired. It wouldn't even surprise me if secretly these guys are like best friends and going on vacation together in June. It wouldn't surprise me. This is going to be a great rivalry for years to come.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Be a great matchup. The next one. I do think, I say it again, I hate to pile on because a young player and a talented player, but Caleb does the stuff that scouts absolutely drool over, and he does the stuff that coaches pull their hair out over. You know, it's like, so he's just got to grow up to the speed of a team that's trying to hoist a Lombardi.
Starting point is 00:12:39 He's got to grow up quickly. Yeah, the, you know, it's funny, Matt, for the previous five or six, seven years, I thought the AFC was better because they landed all these quarterbacks, Herbert and Allen and Mahomes and Burroughs, and they hit on all. of them, C.J. Stroud. But I watch the NFC now, and I'm watching
Starting point is 00:12:57 the Bears, and I'm watching the Rams yesterday. Good God. And I'm watching, and I'll watch Philadelphia tonight. I do feel like the NFC's better. I'm watching this game. I felt like watching Ohio State, Indiana. I'm like, I think the Big Ten has the two best teams.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Maybe Georgia. I watched Green Bay, and I thought in Chicago, and I thought, yeah, I mean, this is the kind of thing we watch in the AFC. I mean, let's talk in Green Bay. I could see them winning the Super Bowl. Like, they're polished.
Starting point is 00:13:32 I don't know a lot of flaws. So what's Green Bay's flaw? Well, yeah, I mean, you mentioned those teams. You mentioned the Rams. You mentioned Green Bay. I would throw Chicago in there, too. Teams that are really, really good at running the football. Green Bay, they didn't get too cute last night.
Starting point is 00:13:47 They just said, this is going to be a Josh Jacobs game. We're going to play great defense. We're going to put this. We're going to be physical. We're going to run the ball at the one yard line, that kind of stuff. And then if you want to come at us, we'll Jordan Love will make you pay. So I think this is a young team in a lot of ways, but I think they're building for December and building for January. And I think Sean McVeigh is doing the same thing.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Listen, Matlifflore, Sean McVe, they're kind of cut from that same cloth. And I think the difference is going to be one of these teams with the strong run game, good defense, their quarterback plays above the X's and O's. Matthew Stafford has been. So can Green Bay do that? Can Jordan Love kind of like step into that potential that he has? I think he's ready to do that. But this should be a great, great playoff run for the NFC side of it.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Yeah. Hey, I've got to ask you about a couple of things. I want to ask you about a call in the Steelers Ravens game. So it was my understanding in the middle of the field, non-end zone. Ball security number one, do you have the ball? two feet down and then a move forward. And because the NFL, I was told this years ago, they don't like fumbles.
Starting point is 00:14:57 They don't want the game played in between the 30s with fumbles. So they want that move forward. But in the end zone, Matt, there is nowhere to move to. I see that as a touchdown. What do you see? Yeah, I mean, online, everyone is going nuts. And I think I get it. You know, they were going nuts.
Starting point is 00:15:18 I thought the best description of this was Gene Sterer, tour, the former official, he got on Twitter, X, whatever it's called now, he got on there and said, hey, here is the rule. So everyone's mad at the officials. You need to be mad at the people that are writing the rule. And like for me, this goes back to, you know, the NFL struggled with what is a catch and all this stuff for years. Right. I think this goes back to you catch the ball, the ball's over the goal line. I think we all would agree. If we're doing this in my front yard or in the driveway as kids, we're saying, hey, that's a touchdown. I do think this is something that I'll get addressed. Again, I don't think it's the fault of the guys in the stripes. They're just
Starting point is 00:15:53 carrying out what the sort of how it's written. So when you think about Buffalo, here's the good news. We saw this weekend. The weather's getting horrible, right? And when it's horrible, you know this. You got to run the ball. Forget your vertical passing game. Buffalo runs the ball. the quarterback does, James Cook does, and they're very tight end centric. I mean, they're receivers. Gabe Davis had two catches. It's all Kincaid. It's all Knox. I look at Buffalo and I think, actually, for the first time ever, I want Josh Allen playing in snow. Because if the weather's good, they could lose to anybody on the back end. I mean, Joe Burrow went up and down the field in the snowstorm with an average offensive line. Do you worry, I mean, I look at him and I said, it reminds me of LeBron and Cleveland.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Josh Allen has had to score six touchdowns, four touchdowns, four touchdowns, three times this year. They're three and oh when they've allowed 32 or more. The rest of the league is 6, 61, and two. It's hard for me to believe they're a Super Bowl team, but Burrough, Mahomes, Lamar, you know, they're not going to make the playoffs, maybe. Where are you on Buffalo? I hear what you're saying. I would just say as a quarterback, though, like when your defense struggles, statistics,
Starting point is 00:17:14 it's almost more fun for you as a quarterback. Like you can just kind of cut it loose and play like you're at recess, which is how Josh Allen likes to play anyway. You said you weren't sure if you liked him in the snow. I love Josh Allen in the snow. You know, the Wyoming Cowboy, the Buffalo Bill, like I think it works. I've been very critical of Buffalo's defense. I agree.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I think there's a lot of room for improvement. However, they have created turnovers. You know, the two borough turnovers in this game, got them back in the game, and then you get that sudden change opportunity for Josh Allen. Here's what happens as a quarterback. You're sitting on the bench. You're thinking Joe Burroughs out there.
Starting point is 00:17:51 And all of a sudden interception happens. The stadium goes nuts. You're like, boom, sudden change. Now there's like this like momentum that you have. Josh Allen's got the ball touchdown. Touchdown. Like it's an excitement thing. So as long as this defense can keep creating turnovers, it works.
Starting point is 00:18:07 But if they don't get the turnover part of the puzzle, then no, they're probably not hoisting the Labardi this year. So the Eagles did something. Sequin Barclay sort of rolled his eyes. They brought a positivity rabbit into the, you know, they're trying to change the vibe into the locker room. And it feels like one of those things management does that thinks is cool, and everybody's like, that is cringe.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I think tonight Philly turns a corner. I kind of have a feeling they're going to get it, right? Where are you on the positivity rabbit and the Eagles? Yeah, I don't know whose idea this was, but I will just say in the NFL, like the season gets long and usually there's a lot of, I don't want to call it rookie hazing, but there's usually a lot of responsibilities. Usually the O-line is the kind of behind some of this stuff and you, you know, the rookies decorate the meeting room or decorate the locker room or they're responsible for bringing quote-unquote holiday cheer to the building. And so, you know, I don't know where it comes from,
Starting point is 00:19:13 but teams can't jump on stuff like this. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that the Eagles jumped on the whole underdog thing, you know, like, and wore the masks and all that because people were counting them out. So if they get on a roll and they get on a tear, like I could see, what is it, the positivity, Bonnie? Hey, whatever it takes, I could see it. You know, it's like the playoff beard. You just, you do it if it, if you need something. But the origins, I mean, the rolling of the eyes, this thing, I mean, I could tell.
Starting point is 00:19:43 tell you story after story after like quote-unquote hazing opportunities for for young guys that some of them turned out to be awesome and you earned the respect to the team and you were one of the guys others they were like get this dude out of our locker room don't ever come back go play for somebody else uh it's it's a real thing that can happen okay i know it's not not all franchise quarterbacks or josh allen um but i mean there's a lot of mids and i watched the doer Sanders again this weekend. And I'm like, I don't know, it looks like the Colorado kid. I don't think he has a great trait, a great arm, great athleticism. I do think he's better than a fifth round draft pick. I mean, I watched Kenny Pickett get drafted in the first round. I watched
Starting point is 00:20:27 about six starts, and I'm like, that's not a franchise guy. It's not a big story, especially because at least Tebow was winning, but I think he's a lot better than Tebow. What are we to say after a few starts on Shadoor Sanders. Bad weather, 400 yards, not a very good receiving core. It's something, right? Yeah, it's something. I think they're going to be encouraged by it. I think they're going to say, hey, there's something to work with here. There's a lot of things that stand out that are uncoachable, and then there's the stuff that we can fix. Listen, you got him, you got J.J. McCarthy, Cam Ward. Some guys, they're young guys. They're just out there running plays. Playoffs are done. They're just out there running plays. And the teams are saying, hey, let's see what we can find out about this guy.
Starting point is 00:21:09 can make a decision on our quarterback room for next year. You know, Tyler Shuck, I think, is an example of another guy taking advantage of that. Ironically, Jackson Dart, who had the best year of the class, he's out, and Riley Leonard's going to be the guy playing relevant snaps at the end here. But with all that being said, all eyes are going to be on Shador. Everything's going to be under the microscope, but I do think they're going to give him the opportunity. I think it's going to be his to have the rest of the season. And, you know, they're going to say, okay, can he make the improvements
Starting point is 00:21:39 that we're asking him to make, much like the way that Caleb Williams, last year it was taking sacks. It was body language. He really improved on those things, and let's just see, can we get him to the next level? Shadur, for me, is doing a lot better than a lot of people who were counting on him doing.
Starting point is 00:21:55 By the way, Stefanski just announced that Sederer Sanders will start the rest of the season. So you just called it. There you go. So if you look, it's interesting. Sometimes you get a reputation. and it sticks. So because Sam Darnold threw a lot of picks with the Jets,
Starting point is 00:22:15 and because of last year at the end, people are like, you can't trust him. In the last two years, two different teams, two different coaches, two different O lines, two different coordinators, he leads the NFL and wins. It's like second or third in passing touchdowns. They now have six times this season blown a team out. This doesn't happen much in the NFL by 14 or more. I'm watching them yesterday, and I know it's Atlanta, I know. But I'm watching them.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Nobody, it feels like nobody's talking about them. We're talking about the Rams, and we're talking about the Eagles, and we're talking about the Packers, and we're talking about the bills. You've been high on Seattle. This coach, this defense, Sam Darnold is so aggressive. JSN's unguardable. Are we all sleeping on Seattle? Yeah, no doubt.
Starting point is 00:23:02 And it used to be sleepless in Seattle now. it's sleeping on Seattle. Their defense is the real deal. Real deal. JSN might be the, might be the best wide receiver in the game right now. I would say even possibly an MVP candidate. And listen, I watch all their games. I mean, Drew Locke's played in a ton of games because it's like we're just blowing you out. We want to just get Sam out of the game. I think Sam Darnold's a really good quarterback. What I love that he did yesterday is that he used his legs. I think sometimes I mentioned this, quarterbacks, they wear like a different color jersey in practice and they almost forget about, especially the guys that are dropback passers,
Starting point is 00:23:37 they forget about using their legs as a weapon. He's really good at that as well. So, you know, for this team, it's going to come back down to a Rams versus Seattle matchup near the end of the year. And then I think they finish with the 49ers. Those are two, you know, nine, 10 win type teams right now. And it's going to be, it's going to be a challenge for them. They could absolutely, I think they actually control their destiny to be the one seed, have the buy, host home field, all that stuff. So it's right in front of them, and Sam Darnel gets to quiet those critics,
Starting point is 00:24:08 and I think he can't. Yeah, right now we're showing our television audience. The Rams are a one-seed, Green Bay 2. Those are excellent teams. If you're asking me, I'd say Seattle is the third best team I've seen in the NFSA, they're a five-seed. And look at that list right there, Colin.
Starting point is 00:24:27 I mean, you've got the Seahawks as a wild card as the five-seed, but I believe if they win their next four, they're the one seat, and that's all it takes for them. They control it. Yeah, they get the Rams in Seattle. So to your point, listen, we're all forgetting the Niners are off a buy. I mean, the NFC is, I mean, the number one offense is Dallas. They're not even close.
Starting point is 00:24:50 I mean, they're six and six, so there is a lot of depth in the NFC. Matt, as always, buddy, great seeing you. See you, Colin. I'm watching that Seattle game and yeah, Sam throws some picks but you know, this is the year kind of a redemption. Like everybody sold their stock on Trevor Lawrence. You're like, well, it's been pretty good. Everybody's like
Starting point is 00:25:12 Sam last year, get rid of it. He's been great. It's, you know, Jordan Love, a lot of doubters. Oh, he's been unbelievable. A little bit of a redemption year for quarterbacks. Yeah, I would largely agree. You asked me about the lines for this week and the Colts are going to see. Seattle. Darnold should cook against the against the Colts. But then Darnold has the real game of the season
Starting point is 00:25:33 against the Rams at home rematch from when he had four picks. I think this will be like the end of last season for him. Remember he really struggled and everybody sold their stock? This is his chance. Hey, guys, I'm for real. I show up. I don't know, man. Rams' defense
Starting point is 00:25:49 looked pretty feisty yesterday. Did you see them getting after Jacoby percent? I mean, they look nasty up front. Like they were embarrassed with the Carolina result. The two best fifth round picks that I that pop into my head Pooka Nakuwa and George Kittle. Yeah. Pooka Nakuwa yesterday?
Starting point is 00:26:08 Dude, it's, I watched him in college. He didn't do that in college. No, no, no, no. I mean, I watched him at Washington and BYU. Sometimes, and I know these NFL GMs and all these scouting departments, I watch him and I'm like, did I miss something? I remember when he was drafted. And you said you knew.
Starting point is 00:26:27 Stafford. Stafford was telling everybody in camp. Dude, we have a superstar receiver in camp. Yeah. I'm just curious, can Puka catch JSN for the offensive player of the year? I know it's like a war. We don't really care. Because he gets dinged up more.
Starting point is 00:26:41 He does. Remember Jonathan Taylor was the leader for a while. That ship has sailed. It's over now. Taylor had a rough game against Jacksonville yesterday. But I think it's going to come down to a receiver for sure. I mean, between Stafford, their tight ends. Now Blake Corum, have you noticed?
Starting point is 00:26:55 Blake Corum is hot yesterday. now cooking. So. They have a, and they're all healthy. The Rams are healthy. Are your top three teams, Ram, Seahawks, and I think you got to say backers. Packers.
Starting point is 00:27:07 They're all NFC. Well, no, I think New England's somewhere in that group. How? The NFC. New England's in that group? Dude, I've watched them go to Buffalo and win. Everybody keeps down. One game.
Starting point is 00:27:16 One game. What else I got? I think they went to Tampa and one. I think they've won. They're just winning. The team that I worry about is Denver. Now, again, yesterday. I've never seen a 24-17 game that was that big of a blowout.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Denver offensively. Raiders covered. Unbelievable. Denver had long time. I mean, they were really trying to get out of the stadium. Denver was just like handed off, eat the clock, let's get out of here. Nobody gets hurt. I worry a little bit about Bo Necks in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:27:48 I worry. I don't know who's coming out of the AFC, Colin. The AFC is crazy right now. Like, honestly, if you're Josh Allen going up against the top, You're not scared of any of those three. Look at the quarterbacks. Bo Nicks second year. Drake May's second year.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Trevor Lawrence, I like him, but Aaron Rogers, 47 years old. I mean, are the Houston Texans? Could they be in the Super Bowl? Listen, the Houston Texans D-line, because the Patriots, Jags, Steelers, bills, chargers do not have great lines. If the Texans ended up in the AFC championship against Denver, Denver's got a great old line. Houston could win.
Starting point is 00:28:25 I'm telling you. When the playoff numbers come out, I'm betting Houston. Well, the other team is those in the hunt teams? I don't even think they're dangerous at this point. They're not good. Like honestly, Daniel Jones, if you feel terrible for them, that season's over for the Colts. They're not getting, I don't think they're getting to the playoffs. No.
Starting point is 00:28:41 Riley Leonard? No, no, no. Riley Leonard, also known as the next Josh Allen. Who is coming out of the AFC? That's a, I don't, it could be the Texans, but they'd have to win three straight. Oh, listen. That defense travels, though. Oh.
Starting point is 00:28:55 But admit it, last night when the chiefs are coming back in the second half, you're like, oh, I've seen this movie before. No, no, no. I felt early in the game. Straight incompletions, I didn't. Have more good players. When you are, if you turn this down and just watch the athleticism, Texans are better. They got to let Stroud cook. Too many handoffs into the line of scrimmage.

Listen, Lena Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this.

Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Season's greetings from FS1. I mean, what, I got to tell you, what a weekend. Bears, Packers, Ohio State, Indiana, sometimes as a network. I'm really interested to see the Bears Packers rating.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Are you off the Buckeyes now because of that loss? No, God, no, no, no. Ohio State's going to win the Natty. I think Ohio State, oh, the three best teams I've seen, and I think there's a gap. No particular order. Indiana, Georgia, Ohio State. I'll still take Ohio State to win the Natty. When Ohio State lost to Oregon and Michigan last year, I said on the –
Starting point is 00:34:51 And that lost to Michigan was bad. I think everybody knew that. That team was loaded. This team has a young quarterback. No, no, this quarterback's great. Was Ryan Day coaching to not let him make a mistake? He didn't throw the ball down the field. No, no, I didn't like the fourth and two field goal attempt.
Starting point is 00:35:06 I would have gone for it. Jeremiah Smith is one-on-one, like half the game. How are you not just throwing some jump balls to him? I did not understand the game plan from Ryan Day. Maybe he didn't want to unveil things before the playoffs. So who cares about the champion? Well, you care about it, but J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Turn on the news. This is the her. line news. All right. We need to fulfill our contractual obligation to talking about Bo Nix. Collins' favorite quarterback in the AFC. Hey, listen, 10-game win streak for your guy. Look at him, just dropping dimes against his...
Starting point is 00:35:40 He was good yesterday. Well, Raiders play a soft zone defense. I mean, hell, you could have... You were QB1 back in the day. You could have carved these guys up. Anyways, Bo Nix moved into a tie with John Elway for third longest streak. Winstreek in franchise history. Here's Bo Nix, the hero, on the streak.
Starting point is 00:35:57 It's amazing. Ten's a long streak and we've won 11 games that's really tough to do at this point of the season and I mean 11 and 2 is not many things that you know you want to be negative about because you want to be appreciative of this opportunity and be appreciative of the wins no matter how they come. He's a good player and he's a heady guy that I think Sean Payton admires his toughness, his athletic ability. he is like Caleb to be a bit of a roller coaster over the course of three and a half hours. Yesterday it was it's very rare when you watch a game and you can tell one team
Starting point is 00:36:38 knows how much better they are and they're just doing a did you notice Denver run the ball short throws keep the clock running Denver just wanted to stay healthy and get out
Starting point is 00:36:50 because they know right now the Raiders don't look well coached I mean they don't they're doing nothing well But watching this game, it was like, oh, they just want to get out of the stadium. A lot of catchable stuff underneath running the ball. They have a nice running game yesterday. This was not a 24-17 game. If you watched it, it was total domination.
Starting point is 00:37:10 So sometimes I forget to give props to people who do what you have to do, right? I mean, they got to win this game and they won. Yeah. Rams went to Carolina. They didn't win. You know, they lost that game. That was a tough one. But Denver just keeps winning.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Colin, what matters most here? Here's what they got next? Green Bay. That's a top three team in the league. Jacksonville. That's not going to be an easy one. I'm sorry, that's not going to be easy. At the Chiefs, they're not dead yet. They might be by that point. And then they close out with the Chargers. Three or four, high altitude, cold weather. Home. Jacksonville in Denver weather? Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence were built for that one. Denver's going to, oh, they're going to roll.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Really? I had Jacksonville. Jacksonville's not going to Denver and a snow. storm and winning. It's so cold in Chicago. You may be here for a few weeks, so you'll be around for that Jacksonville, Denver game. We'll have, like, a dinner bet on that. I'm blindly taking the Jags there, unless Trouple Lawrence isn't. All right, let's move on to the next one, and that is
Starting point is 00:38:08 Schoer Sanders, Colin. Obviously, why are you laughing? The big news is he's been named the starter for the rest of the season. He makes big time throws. No cap. He was outstanding against the Titans. He had a great touch past it in Joku in the corner. Could I argue he was better than Cam Ward yesterday?
Starting point is 00:38:25 sure go for it i mean listen the titans defense is is a joke one of the worst in the league and shedore lit him up as he was supposed to do he throws the ball down the field act that was a great throw he throws a bad interception now here let's we got to be balanced fair and balanced how a bad pick 23 of 42 that's a cut above 50% and there's he had the second most time to throw of any quarterback this season and what the titans notice is he pats the ball before he throws he does he does this pat and you can adjust as a cornerback and that like led to a lot of breakups. Anyways, the big controversy is they score a touchdown, great drive by Shadour. They had to go for two to tie it. Yeah. Now, Shadour had dropped the fumbled on a two-point
Starting point is 00:39:05 conversion earlier. They pull him off the field. And they go to their wildcat. A little trick play. Judkins forgot the play. It was all excited. Oh, it was a disaster. But everybody's coming after Sofansky, like, this is the last straw. You've got to fire him. Do we need to take a deep breath here? Cleveland fans, I mean, do you look at that fan base as reasonable and nuanced. Stephansky'd have the job. Well, listen, there are some media members out there who are trying to lead this charge.
Starting point is 00:39:32 We don't need to name names. But people are like, what is Stefanski doing? He's hurting Shadur. There is a weird Shadur cult out there who are like, I don't want to say like it's in the political realm, but they're all in on Shador. No matter what he does, they're going to just defend him.
Starting point is 00:39:47 I watch this with Thibu, and Shadur can actually play. So I've seen this before. It's called Tim Tebow. And Tebow was winning. Shadur is not winning. But Shadour's a much better Oh, the Tim Tebow thing was insane.
Starting point is 00:40:01 They did Saturday night live skits on it. It was insane. They had a great defense and Matt Prater was kicking 58-yard field goals. Shadur's throwing the ball down the field. Shadur to me, I said this. When Shadur went in the fifth round, I said in my career, I've never gone
Starting point is 00:40:17 on the air and said, that's a first round quarterback and they dropped to the fifth. Usually, I'm pretty close. So he's obviously more of a franchise quarterback than Dylan Gabriel. Because I was not a Gabriel guy out of college. This isn't like you're pregnant kind of. You're either a franchise quarterback or you're not. And my take is he is.
Starting point is 00:40:37 Shador? Yeah. Holy hell. So the Browns are probably going to be drafting top three. They may get a shot at Mendoza. Oh, no. Are you saying you pass on Mendoza for Shador? No, nobody said that.
Starting point is 00:40:47 If you can get Mendoza, you get him. So that's the question. Browns fans, a lot of them like Shadoza. a lot of them like Choudure. They're going to be ticked if they draft Mendoza. Oh yeah, really ticked until they go in a four-game winning street. So last thing, I don't know if you're watching these, but Stifansky looks exhausted answering Chadour questions.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Have you seen these? He's like... This is why they didn't want to draft it. Exactly. And I just wonder, I just wonder if Cefanci is almost like, you know what? I don't want to deal with this garbage for another year. Because whoever gets the job, there's like a cult of Chadour.
Starting point is 00:41:19 This is a thing. It's called Thibomani. I mean, that's why when Denver moved off Tebow, they went and got Peyton Manning. Yeah, kind of an upgrade. Okay, so you can move off Shadour, but you better not do it with Ty Simpson. If you do it with Dante Moore or Mendoza,
Starting point is 00:41:39 any reasonable person with a functioning brain would be like, yeah, those are higher-end prospects. But, or, you know, go, you know, I just... Again, Shadur was good. We got to give the man of flowers. He's a franchise quarterback. Is he going to be an all-timer? No, but I think he is a franchise quarterback.
Starting point is 00:41:57 I watch Kenny Pickett play three games as a pro, and I'm like, yeah, it's not a franchise quarterback. Penix. Is he a franchise quarterback? Well, I thought. He hasn't played it a lot. We'll see. Huh. This may warrant further discussion. All right, let's go to the NBA where LeBron James, the goat.
Starting point is 00:42:12 The greatest basketball player ever had an unbelievable game last night against the Sixers on the road. Remember, the last time we saw him against Toronto, he didn't get 10 points. Last night, oh, he put on a show, Colin. 29 points on 12 of 17. He scored 10 straight in the fourth. Clutch City. Here's LeBron after the game. The end of a road trip.
Starting point is 00:42:36 You know, it can be a lot of tired legs or whatever the case may be. So I feel great. You know, I figured in the fourth that, AR, you know, his legs may have been a little bit tired. Obviously, we know the cross-country that Luca had to endure. So I had an opportunity with some pretty good legs. My legs felt pretty good tonight to try to, assert myself a little bit offensively. Yeah, good win for them.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Somebody in the crowd yelled, hey, you don't have any hair, LeBron. And LeBron said, yeah, but I got a lot of something. Money. LeBron. Did that really happen or no? Oh, yeah, I clapped back at the crowd. Got a big laugh. I did not hear it.
Starting point is 00:43:10 Wow. The NBA, stars talk to the fans all the time. I love it. So, Luca, after his wife gave birth, 31, 15, and 11. Unbelievable. Now, he was right. Reeves has struggled. But Reeves is carrying the team against Toronto, Boston.
Starting point is 00:43:23 He's doing everything. Reeves only had 11 last night. Lakers Spurs Wednesday. Your staff is telling me Wembenyama may play. This is the NBA Cup. Big game. I know you're going to angle for some tickets to that one.
Starting point is 00:43:37 We're going to see you courtside with Kim Kardashian or whatever? Yeah, no. No. No. Ann would not allow that. J-Mack for the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.

We've got a huge SEC Biggies battle on Fox College Hoops Friday, as Texas takes on solo ball and fifth-ranked Yukon. and all fits off Friday night at 8 Eastern on Fox. I'm just looking at, yeah, people are mad that Alabama got into the tournament because they haven't played particularly well.
Starting point is 00:48:37 But, you know, Alabama did go to Georgia and beat Georgia, beat Tennessee, beat Missouri, hammered Vanderbilt. They had more quality wins. The two things that the committee showed you, and right now for our radio audience, I'm putting up the 12-team playoff, I think they got it right. I wouldn't include James Madison or Tulane, but I've never been into that hokey, small-school thing. I think it's great in March Madness when you have 68 teams. It's not good in college football when you have four or now 12 and eventually 14. Maybe if you get to 16, you can have one of them, but they don't recruit the same type of players.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And even if they did pull off an upset, they'd get boat-raced in the second game. football is a game of violence and attrition, and you just need more NFL bodies. But I think they got it right. I think the top four seeds are Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas Tech. I think they got it right. They got Notre Dame over Miami. Notre Dame had a marginal quality win at home. Notre Dame didn't beat A&M or Miami.
Starting point is 00:49:44 You got to win one. So you can complain about all you want. If you take Tulane and James Madison out, they mostly got it right. I think there's an argument where Texas gets in over Alabama because Texas beat Vandy, Texas beat Oklahoma. Texas, you know, they beat A&M. I think the best argument that you don't like what happened is Alabama out, Texas in, I think that would, in my opinion, Texas has more good quality wins.
Starting point is 00:50:20 that's my take Texas also has a horrible loss to Florida although it's an SEC team it's not that horrible but mostly I think you know it came down to the end and they took Miami over Notre Dame and you know Notre Dame now
Starting point is 00:50:36 I was talking to my friend John Middilkoff about this and I said this happens all the time you're seeing it in streaming and television you're seeing it at AI that we have massive change very quickly what used to be the death penalty and college football was paying a player. Now you not only do it, you brag about it.
Starting point is 00:50:56 College football is now about 35% pro football. If there's free agency, you pay the players, the coaches make 10 million. And with that, head to head is going to be more important when you come down to an end of a season. And the other thing is the bowl games are done. So everybody is banging on Notre Dame getting out of the bowl games. They will not be the only team to do it. I think bowl games are the latest thing everybody's clutching to that will go away mostly. Nobody's going to go to these games. They're not going to be able to sell tickets. The games are going to be awful.
Starting point is 00:51:26 The ratings are going to be terrible. Nobody's going to watch these bowl games. So bowl games are going away sooner the better. And I think conference championships. This is not an excuse because Indiana was better than Ohio State, but I don't see the value in conference championships. You play 12 games, and then you have the 12. team playoff. And I think bowl games are done. So Notre Dame, I'm not going to criticize them for saying, yeah, we could get some practices, but we thought it was messy at the end. And let's be
Starting point is 00:51:57 honest, bowl games don't matter anymore. The other thing to remember is a lot of the top players don't want to play in bowl games. Right. Like, they don't. Like that happened years ago with Christian McCaffrey, Four Nett, people freaked out. I mean, if you've played three or four years in college football and you go to some second tier, you know, credit union bowl game, what's the point in playing? So you got star players not playing. They don't matter.
Starting point is 00:52:25 You know, they don't necessarily help recruiting. The whole sport now is regular season playoffs. And so a lot of the change is happening fast. They blew up the PAC 12. They're getting rid of bowl games. It makes people uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:52:41 I totally get it. I'm not a traditionalist. I'm okay with it. I think we've never had more fascinating games. But I thought this weekend with a conference championship, that's on the way out as well. Urban Meyer around the corner. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers.
