Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
Starting point is 00:00:49 a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.
Starting point is 00:01:12 This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown if you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole. Starting point is 00:02:22 and on my new podcast, hope from a hypocrite I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help from a Hypocrite,
Starting point is 00:02:41 the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite Wednesdays on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio and noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Starting point is 00:03:15 He's a senior NFL reporter, Monday morning quarterback, and he loves college football as much as I do. And I want to start there with Albert Breer is now joining us live. So, kind of overlooked. the Lane Kiffin situation is the one way to leave Old Miss and not alienate a conference that you could come back to is to go pro and everybody would be like okay oh miss old miss to the jets or old miss of the Giants everybody gets that right wherever he goes in the SEC it's just it's messy especially because it's the great all-time old miss season I believe that he's got NFL interest. Right side of the ball, young, former player, attitude, presence. What do you hear?
Starting point is 00:04:12 Yeah, I think the NFL would be interested in him, quite honestly. The NFL has been interested in him before. Of course, he was a head coach in the NFL for a brief time with the Raiders. We all know how that ended with the overhead projector and Al Davis and all of that. But there was a point where the NFL was interested in him as an assistant. When he was the offensive coordinator in Alabama before he went to Florida Atlantic. I remember talking to a few college scalying directors, guys who were out there on the trail who would tell me like, you know, this is one thing that could be an interesting idea for someone.
Starting point is 00:04:45 And remember, that was when Chip Kelly was in Philadelphia, and there was a lot of fascination with college offenses, right? And here was a guy who had sort of incorporated spread principles into his West Coast background. And so he was sort of doing both, you know, and being able to. to give college kids some grounding in a pro offense while doing the spread things that got them up and running fast. And so this is something the NFL has looked at in the past. Again, of course, he's been a head coach, but they did look at him as an assistant about a decade ago.
Starting point is 00:05:19 And I do think that if word got out there, that he was really interested in going to the NFL, because that pipeline has run sort of dry with all the turnover there is in the pros, I do think NFL teams would show an interest in him. So the teams that can get a Mendoza in the draft or a Dante Moore, either have two
Starting point is 00:05:40 first round picks like the Rams or Cleveland or Dallas. Now Dallas doesn't need a quarterback, clearly. Or a roster that is really loaded and you feel like, I mean, the Colts are like, guys, we're going to re-sign Daniel Jones, our old line's good,
Starting point is 00:05:58 We just solved our one issue, Sauce Gardner. We like our roster. I'm going to throw this out to you. So Seattle's got a stack roster. They like Sam Darnold a lot. But I watched that game, and I thought to myself, and I know John Snyder is going to college football venues, looking long-term at quarterback, right?
Starting point is 00:06:21 You have to. I mean, he looked at Josh Allen when Russell Wilson was going to Super Bowls. What about a team like, What did you make of the Sam Darnold performance? Is it just one of those, hey, Sam is, but you look at that, the game against the Rams last year, the game against the Lions. Could you see a good team now taking a big swing? Because Donald would have, Albert, a massive market. Dante Moore stays in college of a massive market.
Starting point is 00:06:53 What do you make of Darnold in Seattle after that performance or no big deal? I don't think it's a big deal. I think he's got a Rams problem, you know, quite honestly. Like the two games against the Rams, and that's a problem because you're in the NFC West. But there's something that Chris Schull has been able to do against Sam Donald that it clearly is working. It works in the Minnesota game last year. It worked in the Seattle game this year. So there is like a hump that Sam's got to get over.
Starting point is 00:07:19 But I've got the statistics up right now. And this is even with that game against the Rams, the three interception game against the Rams, factored in. He's seventh in the NFL and Pacers. He's seventh in passing yards. He's 10th in touchdown passes, and he's first in yards per attempt. He's elevated Jackson Smith of Jigba, who is already a really good receiver to maybe becoming the best receiver in football. He's helped them mitigate some of the issues they've had on their offensive line.
Starting point is 00:07:45 He's been everything they wanted, and he's relatively affordable. He's getting paid just over $30 million per year for 26 and 27, so they have them under contract for a few years. And you look at where they are. And yes, John Schneider's always looked at these big picture ideas. And one of the things I remember hearing that the Seahawks were doing all the way back in the day, right? Like when Russell Wilson was on the rookie quarterback, they even considered the idea, do we churn quarterbacks? Like, what would that look like if somebody tried to keep taking advantage of that benefit of having a quarterback on a rookie contract?
Starting point is 00:08:22 So they've thought creatively on these things in the past. but I think Sam's done too good a job for them. He's too affordable for the next couple of years. And there's too much in a window now with the group of players they have. I think a really good team there to turn the Apple card upside down a quarterback. So I don't mind the idea, and I'm sure John has thought of everything. I just don't think they're going to do it right now. All right, throwing it out there.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Okay, so Nick Wright said something this week I thought was really interesting. He said because of Shadur's history, the speeding tickets, the iffy, judgment, you know, tanking some pre-draft interviews, that this start against the Raiders, if it goes sideways, it's really ugly. Does he get another start? Like the whole league is watching this game. The Raiders aren't good. That he has done himself a bit of a disservice with a lack of self-awareness, some immaturity,
Starting point is 00:09:18 likable kid, that this actually means a lot for Shador. Like he needs to be mid or up. Do you, do you, do you, I mean, I think the default for Kevin Sifansky is just to turn to Dylan, turn back to Dylan Gabriel and Dylan Gabriel is healthy. So I think Shador's got to overcome that in the short term to get a shot to continue as the starter, right? So, yes, this is an audition, but I think there's a relatively high bar to clear there. Like, he's got to play well.
Starting point is 00:09:48 It can't just be so-so. And part of the problem, Colin, is all the things that you heard scouts talk about before the drafts and stuff that I was trying to tell people back then that I was hearing from all these people, like all of that stuff showed up in the game against the Ravens. He doesn't have great sense. He doesn't see it fast enough. He bails out of the back of the pocket and tries to run away from the rush that way. All of that stuff was showing up.
Starting point is 00:10:13 And not only is that not good for the team, it's not good for his own development if bad habits are being reinforced in game action. So I think the biggest thing you're looking for from Shador is breaking some of those habits. Can he do that on the fly? Can that happen with the Browns having a chance to build a game plan around him and a relatively weak opponent on deck this week with the Raiders? I think that's what you're looking at here is can he move past some of the things that he was criticized for before the draft? If so, maybe they think about continuing to start him.
Starting point is 00:10:46 If not, then I think they put him right back where he was as a developmental player on their roster. They got their look at him. and then maybe they look at them again in 2026. But I don't have any reason to believe that the Browns quarterback for 2026 is on the roster right now. And I think for Shador, this is as much about just getting another chance to show what he can do in December more so than it is about establishing anything for the future.
Starting point is 00:11:14 So I have to end with this, and it's a real story. I mean, Josh Allen got hit 12 times. They don't have a deep threat. they couldn't get the plan on time. Even Houston ran on him in the first half. And Brandon Bean got very spicy with local media this offseason when they ripped him for the draft. And they said, all you did is draft defensive players. Josh Allen needs more help.
Starting point is 00:11:40 So, I mean, this year, Josh Allen has lost to last night, Tua, Michael Pennett, and Davis Mills. That's just not good enough. and it's a standalone game and you know Albert that matters I do not see this as a Super Bowl team I thought the Texans have a better roster and I did not feel that two or three years ago I think the heat's getting ratch though
Starting point is 00:12:05 I don't think you can keep losing to see level quarterbacks I think that loss means something last night I really do to you I mean it depends right like what happens the rest of the year and is this a blip or is it something more because we now have four losses to go on. And, you know, really, like, I think
Starting point is 00:12:27 going forward, the way you look at this, Josh Allen turns 30 in May. And, like, how much more of this can the bill's ownership take and looking at where they're at? I view it a little bit, and I think the right comparison here is Tony Dungee in Tampa, where, like, when When Tampa was, when Tony Dungy first got to Tampa in the mid-90s, he completely turned that organization around. They were able to flip it on the strength of a historic defense with John Lynch and Warren Sapp and Derek Brooks. And they kept knocking on the door and everybody loved Tony Dungy and he'd done such a great job.
Starting point is 00:13:10 And then eventually after seven years, it got to the point where okay, like we're not there. Ownership started courting Bill Parcells. they wind up trading for John Gruden and the rest is history. I don't think the bills are there yet, but I would say, like, when you've got a talent like this, like Josh Allen is the bill's version of what Tampa had in that defense, right? And you keep knocking on the door and he's getting older. The pressure, of course, is going to be on everybody
Starting point is 00:13:36 to continue to put the best team they possibly can around him, to put him in this best situation possible. And I think a couple of things that really stuck out last night was the bill's inability, to deal with the defensive front of the Houston Texans. I think the bill's got out coached on that side of the ball. And then you see no Dalton Kincaid, that added an impact. Keon Coleman, who is a high second round pick, isn't out there with them. Like, all of those are issues, you know.
Starting point is 00:14:07 So I think as you go on, you can say, Brandon Bean and Sean McDermott have done a fantastic job, completely rebuilding that bill's organization, and changing who they are and helping that stadium get built and being the ones who brought Josh Allen in. But of course, like having a talent like that on your roster and Josh Allen getting older does create a sense of urgency for everyone involved. Now, J. Mack and I had a disagreement earlier.
Starting point is 00:14:34 I said in Philadelphia, the media is hyper-aggressive, and they keep going to A.J. Brown's locker and asking aggressive questions, and he won't bite. Like one of them was, you know, your numbers are down, What does that say about you? And he said, well, Sequans are down. That doesn't mean he's a bad player. I thought that was totally appropriate.
Starting point is 00:14:55 J-MAC is like, this guy's starting fires, and I'm like, listen, the Philadelphia media is aggressive. Newspaper, TV, sports radio. I wonder what the fissures like. Is it overplayed by people like me that aren't there? And for the record, Philadelphia is noisy in a good year. Isn't it? The fissures are there.
Starting point is 00:15:17 but they've been there. And I would just tell you that that's sort of been the sort of cadence for this team over the last few years. That locker room's got a lot of big egos in it. There are a lot of mouths to feed. Jalen Hertz hasn't always been the most well-like person in that building. A.J. Brown can be volatile. Jalen Carter isn't the easiest guy to deal with either. They've been able to bring all these personalities and egos together in the name of building the most talented roster possible.
Starting point is 00:15:46 This is where the value of Nick Siriani is, though, Colin. I mean, his value isn't as a quarterback developer, it isn't as an offensive schemer or play caller. His value is in his ability to manage people and to bring people together and to deal with these sorts of brush fires. And I think that's the one thing people miss on Siriani is he'll put the fire out with A.J. Brown. He'll manage Jalen Carter. He'll deal with what Jailen Hertz.
Starting point is 00:16:11 All of the big personalities, all the big egos, all of the big money guys that are in there, not everybody can manage that. And I think in that way, Siriani is even a little bit like Mike Tomlin. So I think for the time being, the Eagles deal with this as it comes. And Nick Siriani does a good job of leaning into what the team is good at,
Starting point is 00:16:31 which that team has a fantastic defense. That's what no one's talking about. But that defense is one of the best in the league right there with the Broncos and the Texans. And you ride it out and you see where you can go with this team. And then you make a decision on AJ Brown after the year. I'll be interested to see what his trade value would be too, but they were never going to trade them in season
Starting point is 00:16:50 because they're chasing a championship. In the off season, the dynamic changes because you have the wherewithal to replace them on your roster. You don't have that in season. So they manage it for now, and then I think they revisit it after the year. Albert Breer Monday morning quarterback. Good stuff.
Starting point is 00:17:06 Good stuff. I love that Lane Kiffin info. Good seeing you, buddy, as always. All right, thanks, Colin. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd, weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, we're Kavino and Rich. Fox Sports Radio every day, 5 to 7 p.m. Eastern.

Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:18:44 I honestly don't remember I think it was on a call about what we should call it And we were thinking I'm originally calling it One of the early names of our band Before Jonas Brothers This is how you guys remember it going down Yes I have a very different memory of this

I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen should win. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
Starting point is 00:21:07 She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina. is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:21:26 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Hey, I'm Diana Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:46 How hard can it be with the Adamia Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that mess was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Wait, what sex? dating at 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:22:42 No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Heard Line News. All right, well, Colin, quick thing, he said something interesting there about Jalen Hertz. Like, he's not loved in the locker. That's what I told you last. I keep hearing that. No, that's what I was told.
Starting point is 00:22:55 What I haven't heard is, why? Okay, I told you this. Last summer, I was told by somebody very close to the executive suite. Jalen is not hang out with the guys. Jalen can be a little, you know, a little robotic, you know, his, all his stuff. You know, his executive team, all women, doing his own thing, not about hanging out with the guys. He's very mature for his age. He can be, and by the way, this is exactly what I was told.
Starting point is 00:23:24 It's not Russell Wilson, but he's got like his prepared lines. And he's, I'm just telling you what I was told by an unimpeachable source. And now Albert's hearing it. Yeah. And now you're hearing it from Derek Gunn. So you're hearing it now. This is exactly what I heard. He's not the most well-loved guy.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Doesn't mean he's disliked, but he's not one of the guys. It's just weird. Hey, hey, Jaylen, hey, we're going to this jiggle joint downtown. You want to come hang out? You know what? I got a life. I don't need that stuff. So what he doesn't hang out with?
Starting point is 00:23:54 I just, I don't like this because Hertz seems like a great guy. All right, I'm rambling. Let's move on. All right, let's go to Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. Colin, listen, I know you're kind of lukewarm on this drama, but now another source. This one, to Diana Rusini of the Athletic, saying there could be some friction between Caleb and Ben Johnson.
Starting point is 00:24:14 Rusini says an NFL GM told her that he can't bring himself to fully buy in on Caleb, adding she was told, I just don't think he's consistently playing on time within the scheme. I got to wonder, what does Ben Johnson feel about that? He's got to be really patient for now. So this is now multiple reporters are saying the timing issue with Ben and Caleb is not working. we've said from the very beginning, it's not a perfect fit. It's winning. They're beating bad teams and average teams narrowly. It's not a perfect fit. I mean, if you're asking me what Ben Johnson would like, it's 67% completion percentage, play with Instructure, but enough
Starting point is 00:24:57 mobility, Drake May mobility, to escape if needed. That's what he wants. It's very Kyle Shanahan. Here's my play, run it. And there's a lot of times with Caleb, he doesn't. If the first guy's not open, he's moving. Now he's so exceptional at that, but this is not a perfect fit. It's never been a perfect fit. So do you think, it sounds like you think this is maybe a process over results. Hey, we're winning, but Caleb, you're not really
Starting point is 00:25:21 doing everything we want the right way. Otherwise, maybe then we're blowing people out. Or, we can't keep winning this way. If you would do it my way, we would then make the real jump to light speed and be a serious contender. You've got to remember, Chicago is, uh,
Starting point is 00:25:37 they're so depraved offensive. for a hundred years, that the fact that Caleb is exciting and winning, they haven't even had that. I mean, they had Jay Cutler, which was a pocket guy, but kind of surly. Rex Grossman, big arm, pocket guy, but, you know, nobody saw him as, like, iconic. Caleb is winning. They're better than the Packers, it looks like, or certainly in their class. They finally have a good offense. So Caleb's getting really popular, really quickly in Chicago, but it's never been a perfect
Starting point is 00:26:08 fit. It's not early. It's been, what, 11 games? So the other thing is the tackles for the bears have played well this season. This is a big timing game because you know Watt and Highsmith coming off the edge. You better have your timing down. Jalen Ramsey could be hunting stuff in the secondary. I like this game. I still am with you. I'm on the bears here. Next up, Colin, let's go to the New York Giants. They got some bummer news. Jackson Dart did not clear a concussion protocol. He will be out this weekend. That'll be I mean, James Winston gets his second straight start. He was serviceable against the Packers last week.
Starting point is 00:26:43 I think he did some things that caught them off guard. I'm just curious. Brian Daibol, one of the big knocks on him, was he was running Dart into the ground. Like he can't take these hits. Do you think there's an edict? Hey, Kafka, we like Dart. We don't want him injured.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Let's not rush him back. You think that's at play here? Yeah, I mean, it's a dicey situation. So Daibol needed a play him. That's why he's rushing the blue tent because he didn't want to get fired. and then he gets dinged up and Kafka wants to be you know a guy gets fired the interim guy usually does the opposite of what the coach does
Starting point is 00:27:18 so he's going to protect Jackson Dart he's going to hold Abdul Carter responsible so generally the interim coach comes in and either lightens up the room or adds some intensity to the room you kind of go the opposite the pendulum swings to one
Starting point is 00:27:38 but wasn't winning. So my guess is Kafka with Joe Shane, you know, they're in unison. He's saying, listen, Joe, what do you think? And Joe's probably like, protect Jackson Dart and Kafka buys into it. So does Kafka, is he able to save his job if he goes, I don't know, one and six? No. Well, that's the thing. So Kafka's going to be forced into playing Dart.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Sorry, you're not winning with James Winston. Lions, by the way, you see it 10 and a half on the screen. Since Dart was ruled out, this has jumped to 12 and a half. I'm seeing some 13s. I'm with you. Lions smash spot against the G-Men. Final story, Colin, man, we love to talk about quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:28:15 J.J. McCarthy has been something of a pinata for you. Vikings, remember last year they were 14 and 3 with Sammy D? J.J. McCarthy, yeah, not good. 52% of his completions, more picks than nine interception. Sorry, more interceptions than touchdowns, and he's had the ankle injury. But McCarthy, listen to the optimism dripping here. ahead of a big divisional matching.
Starting point is 00:28:39 I kind of make the analogy of just like, you know, a cork about to come off a bottle. Just understanding that it's, you know, one to three little things that I need to change about my game that is going to make a huge difference in the outcome of every single drive in the game. So, yeah, I feel like it's really close, but it all comes down on the consistency
Starting point is 00:28:57 of the fundamentals and the little details. Well said. You got it made. Josh Allen was like 50-something percent completions as a young friend. with the Buffalo Bills. Remember that? He turned it around. I'm not selling my McCarthy stock, but it's down bad, kind of like my crypto portfolio right now. You know, right now, I mean, you posted the stats earlier on McCarthy. He's dead last, and there they are. Boy, look at this staff.
Starting point is 00:29:23 I mean, that's pretty bad, Colin. And here's the big knock. You remember Chris Carter, obviously, the great Vikings wide receiver back in the day. He went online and kind of was like, Did you watch the first 59 minutes of McCarthy against the bear? He was terrible. McCarthy's quarterback coach went after Chris Carter calling him some choice words, shall we say, and then had to rescind him because it's like, oh, well, I didn't know if it's Chris Carter, who's a Vikings legend. Things are just not going great for JJ.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Once GMs and coaches get defensive, somebody's gotten a little too close to the truth. Yes, indeed, my friend. Jay Mackle of the News. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News. Off a 50 heater, J-Max Picks next. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Starting point is 00:30:16 On Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:30:31 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
Starting point is 00:30:44 I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say,
Starting point is 00:31:03 hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notes. Notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Starting point is 00:32:41 The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis. And I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs. And on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen should win. I mean, she went down at three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me.
Starting point is 00:33:07 And she likes Clay. Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
Starting point is 00:33:32 And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
Starting point is 00:34:00 lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man,
Starting point is 00:34:16 hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to point game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:34:40 Well, it's that time of the week when J-MAC sees if he can keep up with our picks this year that are at a 62% clip. Last week, we went 5'0. J-Mack up for the challenge. So tomorrow's headlines today, Giants at the Lions know Jackson Dart, what say you? Yeah, this line's been moving up after the dart news. This is a layup, Cullen. The headline for lions, giants will be. Gough the top rope. Lions claw their way back. Love the little wrestling theme.
Starting point is 00:35:15 Obviously, Scataboo and company showing up this week. Listen, folks, I don't see how you can actually back James Winston in this spot at all. Jared Goff and Dan Campbell off a loss. 13 straight wins, 13 straight covers. Now, I know the bad news today as Sam Leporta is out likely for the season. Colin, that is a huge hit to their offense. He is like an elite tight end, probably top three tight end in the league. That being said, the Giants defense is a joke.
Starting point is 00:35:42 The secondary is pathetic. I think Amunrah, James and Williams have big games. The Giants ranked dead last in run defense, Colin. This is a Lions team that should get an easy dub here. The only question, though, and you brought this up, is the look-ahead spot. Thanksgiving against the Packers. I don't know. I can't imagine Dan Campbell, who's a big motivator.
Starting point is 00:36:03 I can't imagine him just letting his guys think about things. Thanksgiving and not focused on the task at hand. Good call. Tomorrow's headlines today. Seahawks at the Titans. That one feels ugly. These are too ugly games. This one's ghastly.
Starting point is 00:36:19 That being said, Seattle's fun to watch the headline for Seahawks Titans from Nashville will be Jibigsaw puzzle. Seahawks attack corners to solve game. Oh my gosh. JSN should have a field day against Tennessee. Colin, if you're, we look at the bottom of the NBA, There's a lot of teams that are already quitting. The Tennessee Titans have to lead the charge in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:36:40 They're bad across the board. They have no weapons offensively. The defense is terrible. And last week, they suffered a brutal loss to the immortal Davis Mills. I think there's a great bounce back for Sam Darnold and company. How about this? McDonald and Darnold on the road this year? Five and O against the spread.
Starting point is 00:36:58 They're the best against the spread team in the league overall. I do wonder if maybe there's a slow start, a little hangover from the Rams loss, because they did fight hard to come back. But ultimately, like, if you want to dabble in Tennessee first quarter plus three, go for it. But Seattle will win this game. I don't think they're going to run away the way. You know, they beat Arizona by a million at home. And the Saints, they smothered them.
Starting point is 00:37:19 I don't see that happening here, but this feels like a 30 to 9 kind of route. Seahawks take care of business. This is a legit Super Bowl team if Sam Darnel can avoid mistakes. Tomorrow's headlines today. New England Patriots at Cincinnati. Burrell hung around practice this week. Well, it's more than hung around. He's listed as questionable.
Starting point is 00:37:40 They don't know if he's going to play or not. Zach Taylor's making us play the waiting game. The headline for Patriots Bengals will be. Drink it to you make it from small startup to big digs eruptor. Yeah, baby. Listen, I'm a Patriots hater growing up a Jets fan. And Tom Brady just put it on us for decades. That being said, there's a lot to love about this team, Colin.
Starting point is 00:38:05 Drake May, by the way, the best deep ball thrower in the league right now. He is having an amazing MVP caliber season. You want to guess who's the worst secondary in the league? Cincinnati. Bengals, there's some analytics that say they're one of the worst defenses all time, Colin. Trey Hendrickson, not playing. Sounds like he's probably going on the shelf. I don't even think he's going to go.
Starting point is 00:38:26 And if you look at Cincinnati, like anytime they play a good team, it's just a beatdown. I mean, they struggle to play with the Jets and Bears. This is a bad team. No Jemar. chase. So if it's Joe Flacco and T. Higgins, give me Christian Gonzalez locking things up. I like Patriots to cover a big number here. Tomorrow's headlines today. This will win no beauty contests. Falcons. You love betting Falcons games at the Saints. I was betting on the Falcons. One of my big misses was that this team thinking
Starting point is 00:38:55 they were going to be good. Garbage. The headline for Saints Falcons will be. Dunkirk. Saints go to war on Falcons. Yes, New Orleans is favored here, Colin. Yeah. This is easy, okay? The last time we saw Kurt Cousins play without Drake London, both Pennix and London are out this week. They got destroyed by the Miami Dolphins at home. Well, guess what?
Starting point is 00:39:20 Both those guys are out again. People are not falling for it again. By the way, Kirk Cousins, last six starts, 0 and 6 against a spread, just one in five straight up. This is not difficult. Saints, load the box, stop Bijon Robin. Dair Kirk Cousins to throw down the field. He can't. I don't see how the Saints don't win this, possibly with margin.
Starting point is 00:39:40 By the way, Tyler Shook, remember, went to Carolina and had a pretty good game. Outplayed Bryce Young. He now has a bye week. So I would expect Kellyn Moore and Shook to cook up some stuff. I like the Saints here. I'm on an island. They're not very good. But Atlantis, by the way, played two back-to-back games.
Starting point is 00:39:57 One of them was in Berlin that went overtime. They're in trouble. Finally, this is an interesting one. I considered taking the box after the Rams came off a big divisional shootout. Tomorrow's headlines today, Tampa Bay beat up at the Rams. They gave Buffalo troubles, but now they go back cross-country. I don't know. A lot of travel for a fatigue team.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Fourth road game in their last five plus a buy week, and you know they were traveling on that one. The headline for Tampa Rams from Sofi will. B, the Stafford ability crisis. Rams inflated by quarterback value. I love Stafford here against Todd Bowles. Now, we talked earlier this week. Todd Bowles loves to blitz. That's in his DNA.
Starting point is 00:40:44 They blitz at the third highest rate in the league. Matt Stafford destroys the blitz. Two games against the Bulls blitzing defense with McVeigh, seven touchdowns, zero interceptions. Listen, Stafford is going to eat these guys up. He's got the healthy wide receivers. I am concerned. tight ends for the Rams, Colin, went on IR this week. So they won't be able to go to the three
Starting point is 00:41:05 tight end sets that they've been using. But Tampa's just, Bowles is up against it. When they have stepped up in class the last few weeks against good teams, Detroit, Buffalo, they're losing and not covering the spread. Bucky Irving just ruled out today. Not great for the run game, although Tucker showed well last week. Everything on my paper here says Rams continuing to look like one of the best teams in the league and a legit Super Bowl contender. Boy, you and I, Both, and you did this more than me, but I've never been a fan of taking favorites. And last year, I had a very average year because I've always been take at least a B-level quarterbacking points. This year, I take an over, three favorites and one dog.
Starting point is 00:41:47 It's really changed. The NFL is, whether it's the kickoffs have enhanced field position, I think it's part of it where you only need a couple of field. First of all, you only need a couple first downs to get into field goal range because everybody now can kick a 53-yard field goal. So the kickers, there's just more points being scored. Now, a lot of that's baked in, but it does feel like to me, even backup quarterback plays better. I mean, Davis Mills last night, Mac Jones is a backup. Not only the Davis Mills play, well, played exceptional.
Starting point is 00:42:17 Mac Jones was exceptional. So it used to be your backup was kind of like Tyrod Taylor. There was limitations. You could win a game, but you weren't going to win a shootout. Well, Matt can win a shootout. Last night, first half, Houston in a shootout. The quality of even backup play is better. The rules all tilt offense.
Starting point is 00:42:35 The kickoffs now, we have four kickoffs this year return for touchdown, so better field position. And that field goal kickers had better legs. Something happened about three years ago, and it wasn't Cheerios. Everybody can kick a 58-yarder now. So I just find myself, even in games in which you think you're on the wrong side, it'll go over late because somebody boots a 57-yard field goal. And you love to go against bad quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:42:58 These are the quarterbacks I just went against. James Winston, Cam Ward the rookie, Joe Flacco, the backup, assuming he starts, Kurt Cousins, and then, you know, Baker Mayfield's kind of good. Fade the bad quarterbacks. That strategy has worked for you. Well, there is a, I looked, I think it was Monday or Tuesday, I went home, and I just, I wrote, I looked at the draft, and I, there are 10 teams, it used to be much smaller where you'd have three to four maybe unwatchable teams. It's 10 now. I didn't count, I did not count Miami. I think they're watchable.
Starting point is 00:43:30 And they can, you know, I mean, there's, I still think their schemes are excellent. I still think they can move the ball. Just don't put them in cold weather. But there's a, it's like the NBA, and I said this two years ago, when the quarterback became that important, if you don't have one,
Starting point is 00:43:44 you can't compete. And I'm, we're not even to Thanksgiving yet. And there are lions will win by blowout. Seahawks should win comfortably. Ravens are going to smash. Look at the spreads in the NFL. They look like,
Starting point is 00:43:57 college spreads. And that's because the league is now so quarterback reliant for success. 100%. All right. Good stuff. Want to thank Albert Breer for stopping by? Julian Edelman taking time for the herd on a Friday. First things first around the corner.
Starting point is 00:44:17 Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:44:24 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
