Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer,
Starting point is 00:00:18 Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast. For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J.
Starting point is 00:01:11 And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:35 A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:02:46 before kickoff Sunday for your chance to win and for top stories and scores and more go to the Fox Sports app Colin Eagles
Starting point is 00:02:54 Steelers is one of the super six matchups this week. Give us your winner and final score. Oh, 2720 Steelers.
Starting point is 00:03:02 numbers right. It's why I didn't put it in my blazing five. I think short week, Eagles have to travel west back to east. Short week, you lose a day of prep and the Steelers are off a kind of like an unscheduled buy. So Mike Tomlin's like nine and four off buys. So I get a veteran coach, well-rested, healthier team off a buy. I take the Steelers by about a touchdown. Eric Mangini's got multiple rings, three Super Bowls, Wild with the Patriots, Jets, Brown's head coach. He is joining me now from Cleveland, by the way. I'll get to the Browns in a second. So, you know, Tom well, and one of the things I worried about when he went to Tampa,
Starting point is 00:03:38 it wasn't that his arm was shot. I didn't care about that. My question was, he had great protection in New England, and Tampa's O line is average. The second thing is Bruce Ariens is Lucy Goosey and the culture of the organization's kind of been, you know, Ebor City and fun, let's get cocktails early. And I'm like, that's not Tom. Tommy's got a system and he's pretty rigid. and I'm watching last night
Starting point is 00:04:02 and I'm thinking, you're watching what I'm watching last night, right? Like an undisciplined mess. And I think Tom kind of got unglued on the sidelines, right? Yeah, it's interesting in my career. I was with Belichick and then I went to Parcells, and I went back to Belichick. I had one year with Ted Marcher Road in between. Then I was a head coach.
Starting point is 00:04:21 And then I go out to San Francisco and I'm with Jim Harbaugh. And it's a very, very different approach, a very different system. I love them. And I respect the things that he does, but it's very different than what I was used to. And one of the things that Tom, and I'm sure Gronk is getting used to, is that all those issues that were buttoned up in New England that you never had to worry about, whether it was penalties or being reminded about situational football or game management,
Starting point is 00:04:52 any of those things that were so buttoned up, the discipline, you know, it's not the same everywhere. And yeah, you know, you may get, you may be having more fun in the offseason and you may be having more fun during the course of the week. But 11 penalties isn't fun and losing the game because of self-inflicted wounds isn't fun. And Tom's learning about that. And it's, you know, it's a hard lesson sometimes to learn. What about not shaking hands? That bother you? No, I mean, we spent the whole day talking about Mahomes embrace and, and,
Starting point is 00:05:28 and what potentially could have happened and how he could have gotten COVID. And then Tom doesn't shake hands after the game. I mean, I assumed it was more related to that than it was some sort of slight. It's just uncharacteristic for Tom to do that. I assumed it was COVID-based. So Tyron Smith left tackle out. So the center already retired before the season, Travis Frederick. Tyron Smith is out, right tackles out.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I've always had kind of this theory in the NFL. There's certain units in season. If they go sideways, you're toast. You can't correct them in season. People aren't just giving up left tackles in this league because there's about six great ones. And I look at Dallas this morning, and I've got to be honest, Eric, I look at them differently. The offensive line's not the same. I don't think you can correct a bad offensive line in week 7, 8, 9, 10.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Your thoughts on what they're facing? Yeah, the offensive line hasn't been the same all season long. And this is terrible. And you saw the last game, they tried to help some of the guys that they brought in. They tried to chip with the tight end and chip with the running back. And you can do some of that stuff. But you're limited. You're limited in terms of how many times you want to go with an empty formation and only block five on five.
Starting point is 00:06:47 But they have, they have Zeke. And if they'll commit to running the ball consistently, game in and game, out, you've got a chance to help that offensive line the most. We talked about last week how it would help the defense, but running the ball helps the offensive line significantly. I remember in 97, we played Barry Sanders, and I'm not saying that Zeke is Barry Sanders, but we had a chance to go to the playoffs, and we did everything in the world to try to stop this guy, and he still broke a big play late in the game.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And Zeke has that capability. He has the capability to break a big play at any point. it slows down the pass rush. It helps the defense. And it gives those guys who struggle in pass rush, you know, a much better opportunity than they're going to have if you want to go out and sling it, you know, 50 times a game. So, you know, you're a coach, you're Anthony Lynn,
Starting point is 00:07:40 and you want to start Tyrod Taylor, then the medical guys mess up and you feel some guilt. And then you put Justin Herbert out there and he's like, oh, boy, this kid's slinging it all over the yard. I mean, it's a situation for Anthony. Anthony Lynn, I don't think he wanted to be in it, but how could you go to the team and go back to Tyrod Taylor? I mean, players, you can't lie to players. Justin Herbert, to me, is, I mean, it looks like the Rose Bowl. I mean, he's just controlling, he's controlling the offense. I mean, I'm surprised how good he is.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Do you have any sympathy for what Anthony Lynn goes to? Didn't he have to make that move? Yeah, you know, that doctor has probably done hundreds and hundreds of injections, and it's sometimes one player's misfortune is, is a bunch of players' fortune, and it's a difficult thing because as a head coach, you want to be consistent, and you want your guys to know that they're not going to lose their spot due to injury, and especially an injury that had nothing to do with anything that the player did. But the guys also want to know that you're really committed to playing the best players.
Starting point is 00:08:45 And when you say you're doing what's in the best interest of the team to win the game, it has to be meaningful. And Herbert's come in. He's got over 100 quarterback rating. He's completed over 70% of his passes. He's looked better than I think anybody expected him to. So it's hard to then go sit in front of the team and say, I'm going to do everything I can to allow us to win the game,
Starting point is 00:09:09 but I'm not going to play this guy because I want to be consistent as a head coach. Guys understand the business element of it. Yeah, they do. So I watched that Monday night game. Brian Hoyer struggling and Cherit Stedham. And I thought, I thought Cam Newton may have gotten himself a contract extension for not playing because you couldn't take away how inept they were. And Eric, I don't know if Cam is a rental.
Starting point is 00:09:36 I think they're going to be too good to get a top 10 draft pick. They're not going to get one of these quarterbacks. Nobody in the AFC is going to give them a break and let them have somebody. And I'm like, I think Cam may end up being a solution for a while, maybe right? It's possible. New England hit the football lottery again. We hit it with Tom Brady when we get him in the sixth round. And then you bring Cam Newton in for $500,000 guaranteed. He's better than anyone could have expected coming off the injury.
Starting point is 00:10:09 He's able to do what he did with his feet in the first game and then throw the ball effectively the next game out. And to say that New England knew something that everybody else did, I don't think that's true. the contract itself tells you what they thought about Cam's potential. But he comes in and he's changed the trajectory of the season post-Tom Brady, and everybody in New England and everybody in the league got to look at what it could be without Cam Newton. And if they had to live through the growing pains of Stidham.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Yeah. So it's funny. You know, when you were in New England, New England, you got used to big wins. So if you win a big game on Sunday against the Baltimore, you know, emotionally, that's the standard for New England. But Cleveland's different. When you were at the Jets, that's different. And you win a big game, and everybody pat you on the back, and Cleveland beats the Browns, or the Browns beat the Cowboys, excuse me. And everybody now is like, oh, my God, look at this team.
Starting point is 00:11:12 Stefansky's brilliant. Objay's amazing. And I have this, I said this this morning, is one of my picks. I said, I'm always leering. of losing cultures that win their biggest TV game in years and then the next week they actually play a much better team the Colts this week
Starting point is 00:11:30 and the Colts aren't flashy and nobody's talking about it so I like the Colts over the Browns but in your life in this NFL cultures are different and teams that aren't used to winning win big games were you ever in Cleveland or the Jets you won a big game and you did every trick in the book and they were still flat the next week
Starting point is 00:11:49 yeah unfortunately i got fired in new york because because of that and look teddy atlas the the boxing trainer always would say success is like a martini it relaxes you and and when i was in new york and we had far when we were rolling i think we were seven and two and eight and two and then we won you know one out of our last four or five games and it was you could see it you could feel it the guys were doing a million interviews and all kinds of things on the day off, guys were showing up late, there were mistakes that were made at that point that hadn't been made before. And you're giving this constant speech of, look, we're not as good as we think we are. And suddenly, you know, reality sets in and it catches up with you. And it's hard. It's hard to teach guys
Starting point is 00:12:44 how to deal with success because we spend so much of our time with athletes teaching them how to deal with adversity. But it can be just as difficult a thing to navigate through. Yeah. All right. Well, enjoy your fall in Ohio. I will enjoy your beautiful steak dinner tonight by the beach. And I don't resent you for it.
Starting point is 00:13:09 That's funny. Coach, it's good to see him to get out to California sometime. All right, let's see you soon. Eric Mangini, one of the good guys. He goes and has steaks with me every time he comes into town. We sit and talk X's and O's, and so boring to all of America except us. We sit and talk draft picks and left tackles, and he's the best guy to go to dinner with. It's just unbelievable how much you learn from him every time I go.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Great stories, many of which you can't talk about on the air. How do you get your steak? I go medium rare with horseradish. Horse radish all over it. Yeah, medium, medium rare. My daughter told me last night. She goes, Dad, that's your British background. The horseradish?
Starting point is 00:13:46 She said that feels like Great Britain. And I'm like, I don't know. I like horseradish with oysters. Oh, so do I. That's what I'm going to have tonight. Oosters are so good. Oh, the best. They're acquired taste, though.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Everybody doesn't like oysters. I grew up next to a town called Oysterville. Well, yeah. So I learned how to eat oysters later in life. I grew up in Pittsburgh. Not a big oyster place. You wouldn't want to eat the oysters from Pittsburgh. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal,
Starting point is 00:14:11 but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you'll say. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment. and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
Starting point is 00:15:24 So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Starting point is 00:15:51 Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because. of crack.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really?
Starting point is 00:16:30 Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tript Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Starting point is 00:16:56 Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Starting point is 00:17:18 Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose
Starting point is 00:17:33 on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free, our heart radio app. Search learn the hard way and listen now. Joy with a news. No, no, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, Ben Rathesberger and the Steelers had an unexpected buy last week when their game with the Titans was postponed. Big Ben said it's been a challenge to work through the last minute change to their schedule.
Starting point is 00:17:58 And of course, we've got a short-hand mistake. Well, it's tough, you know, especially for something like myself, who's just kind of starting to get back into the flow of things. It's not easy, but you've got to adjust, you got to adapt and do the best you can. So the Titans Steelers game from last week was rescheduled for week seven. Okay. The matchup between the Steelers and Ravens originally in week seven moved to week eight. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:20 There's a lot going on here. Yeah. Patriots Broncos moved to Monday, 5 Eastern. I love that. Two Monday night games. There's no, yeah, that's great. Awesome. No new positive test from the Patriots today, which is good.
Starting point is 00:18:30 And the team is holding virtual meetings instead of practice today. Titans' bills moved to Tuesday. Okay, I'm totally down with it. At 7 Eastern. Love it. Chief Bill's coming, this coming Thursday was moved to Sunday, but it will be moved back to Thursday if the Titans' bills game gets canceled. The Titans players had another player test positive on Thursday, but no new positives today. Listen, we knew we weren't getting the perfect world.
Starting point is 00:18:56 This is a highly regulated non-bubble, so we're going to have some of these. Yeah, I did not give any of the panic a second of time or... Can I say this? I kind of like this. Two Mondays, a Tuesday. Well, I'm sure the players and the coaches hated. I know, but it's fun for the consumer. But for us, it's great, football every night.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Tuesday night, I get the NFL. Yeah, I mean, it's tough for, it, Ben's right. It's tough for guys, it's a complete change of routine. Yeah. You're anticipating one opponent and studying that film. Now you've got to flip to the other. It's a lot of adjusting for the players. And I know that obviously everyone's going to have a complete freak out moments.
Starting point is 00:19:34 There were going to be positive. Yes, same thing that happened with the Marlins and happened with baseball. They're not in a bubble. Adjust the way that you're looking at this. I've seen media members literally say it's time to suspend the season. Oh, God, you're out of touch. Stop it. The NFL's not stopping anything.
Starting point is 00:19:54 It's also just completely unrealistic. You're not just talking about players not playing. There's coaches, there's staff, there's stadium personnel, there's broadcasting. Like it's We're not, the NFL's not stopping. You have to get over that. And why when you have to manage it? I would never stop. By the way, zero
Starting point is 00:20:15 global athletes, professional athletes have died. Like, these are the best athletes in the world. We have to be realistic about this. Well, it's not just obviously, like, it's not just them. Right. Like this is contagious. The staff and the code. You have to be very careful with it. But the reality is like they're not
Starting point is 00:20:33 in a bubble. So they are in somewhat, exposed to the virus in the ways that the NBA and the WMBA and the NHL were not because it's a bubble. So like the NFL is managing it however they will and we'll keep up with the schedule changes. American media. Offer perspective, not panic. The NFL season is not going to be suspended. You're going to have to come to terms with that if you're a member of the media that is
Starting point is 00:20:56 somehow rooting for that to happen. It's not going to. I don't. I don't know. I don't have time for unrealistic conversations. Let's talk grownups. They're not going to suspend it. We're going to have probably a game a weekend moved around.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Maybe two. It's unfortunate, obviously. Obviously. It's not what anyone wants. But I like to function in reality. You and I don't get outraged. It's like you go to Twitter for five minutes, everybody's outrage. Well, I'm just a solution-oriented person.
Starting point is 00:21:21 There's always going to be a problem. So I can't deal with people that just bring problems and no solutions. So they're just, you just told me something I can find out myself on my own. And then I'm going to, so now I have the problem and I have to figure out the solution. We can all work together and get to the bottom of anything if we just take a deep breath. We'll figure it out. So the Dodgers completed the sweep last night, being the Padres 12 to 3 to win the series 3 zip. This is the Dodgers' fourth trip to the NLCS in the last five years.
Starting point is 00:21:49 They look for their first World Series championship since 1988. Yeah. Manager Dave Robert says he believes this is the best team that he's had in his five seasons with the Dodgers, and they will face the Atlanta Braves who swept the Marlins. in the Divisional Series. When the NLCS begins next week, the NLCS will air exclusively on Fox or FS1.
Starting point is 00:22:10 The Astros will face the winners of Yankees raise in the ALCS. Well, they added Mookie Betts to a loaded team. They led baseball on homers and ERA. You know, I will say this about San Diego. Tatis, Machado, Eric Cosmer. They've got talent.
Starting point is 00:22:25 A really fun team. Yeah. Padres have real star players. They're not going anywhere. Winner Take All Game 5 tonight is between the Yankees and raise. Oh, boy. Who are the network execs rooting for? Goulet, game five tonight. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:22:38 I'm feeling a lot more comfortable with Garik hole pitching for the Yankees because their whole plan is when the games he starts and hope you get lucky in the ones he doesn't. Finally, the Heat and the Lakers play tonight. And the Heat's run to the finals as the five seed. Has been very impressive. And many in the league
Starting point is 00:22:55 believe that this is just the beginning in Miami. According to the ringers, Kevin O'Connor. NBA execs believe the Heat have become the league's top destination for the next star with a wandering eye. They're positioned to acquire virtually any superstar that's on the market. They could create max cap space as soon as this offseason. Why? If they renounce the rights to Juan Dragich or Jay Crowder.
Starting point is 00:23:19 I don't know if I'm, it's nothing against Milwaukee, but if I'm Janus, I get Tyler Hero and Duncan Robbins. So I get two great shooters and a co-star. And ban. And an aqua water. and I can live in a high-rise conduct. I don't even understand why I would think, too. I mean, I know everybody's into this loyalty thing. Loyalty doesn't exist in professional sports.
Starting point is 00:23:40 It just doesn't. Actually, the heat are one of those organizations that I would say is actually quite loyal. Like, they bring people up within their organization. Eric Spolstra is a perfect example of that. Edonas Haslam, Alonzo Morning. People are increasingly less loyal, the more options in life they have.
Starting point is 00:23:57 You got to come to, if you're like guys bragging about loyalty, You don't have a lot of options. Well, I mean, when it comes to Janus, is obviously the main star that everyone is talking about. I would go to Miami over the Warriors. Yeah. By far. Here's the other thing.
Starting point is 00:24:12 State tax, none in Florida. California 13%. If I sign a seven-year deal, that's $10 million. I'm getting to California. I'll never forget that moment. I learned that was really a thing. No. I mean.
Starting point is 00:24:23 Oh, we're kidding about the taxes. I would go. Listen, nothing against Golden State. but if I can go to the Miami Heat and pay no state tax, get better winter weather than even California, I'm in it in one second. I don't know that Yonis will leave. And I know that there's obviously Bucks fans are rooting for that,
Starting point is 00:24:40 and there is a certain part of the media that's rooting for that. I think it would be great if Yonest days. It's just going to change the course of his career. I don't think he'll win a championship in Milwaukee. No, I totally agree with you. I don't know loyalty. These guys have 12-year careers. They're not attorneys.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Everyone's not built like that. though. Like that certain players just really like to stay with the same team and they really want to try. Listen, 40% of America never leaves the area code they grew up in. Yeah. I mean, yes. I'm from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I know many people
Starting point is 00:25:11 that would never, ever move out of Pittsburgh. I left at 18. And then you went to Miami and then you left there at what? 28? Yeah. Yeah, 29. And you came out here at what? 29.
Starting point is 00:25:27 What are you? 33. Mm-hmm. Yep. I've been here almost five years. You're young. Thank you. Quite a future. But yeah, everyone doesn't, everyone's not interested in that kind of, you know, mobility and change. And it would, it would bring a certain level of expectation to Yonis. Because now if he doesn't win a championship, you know, some people will look at his career differently, but he'll still be, you know, a great all-time player.
Starting point is 00:25:50 But if he goes to Miami, there are going to be expectations of championship. By the way, there are expectations now. Win more games in the playoffs. Sure. I mean, no one's outraged that Yonis is not in the finals. I am. I am furious. Then we finally found what Kong gets outraged about. Janus is not winning enough.
Starting point is 00:26:08 I mean, really, I can't sleep at night. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd Live News. All right, his NFL bats. Jason McIntyre. Tomorrow's headlines today is coming up.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the IHard Radio app. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
Starting point is 00:26:43 embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at It podcast. I'm Sam Jette. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode,
Starting point is 00:28:25 with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:48 I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Keer Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience
Starting point is 00:29:12 in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have
Starting point is 00:29:51 real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Rec tech more than a grill a lifestyle. Smart grill technology allows for an even heat built by grillers for grillers. R-E-C-T-E-Q.com.
Starting point is 00:30:12 That's rectech with a Q.com. Jason McIntyre. Straightfire with Jason McIntyre's, his daily podcast. He is now joining us for tomorrow's headlines today. All right. I had a bumpy week last week. Let's not waste any time. the game everybody's talking about is, you know, the battle for Pennsylvania.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Tomorrow's headlines today. What's the headline for the Eagles at the Steelers? Well, you know, the rallying cry for the Eagles, Colin, is Fly Eagles Fly. I think that headline will be cry, Eagles, cry. I love the Pittsburgh Steelers. You know, we talk about our favorite bets every week. And Pittsburgh, I've been locked in on them all week. This is a horrible matchup from an X's and O's perspective.
Starting point is 00:30:55 for the Eagles. They've got that offensive line held together by duct tape, essentially. Carson Wentz was running for his life against the Niners last week. Now he faces the team number one in Blitz percentage, third in sacks. I mean, this Steelers front is going to dominate this game. The only case you can make for the Eagles here is that Big Ben comes out rusty off the by week. You know, they didn't play last week because Tennessee can't get COVID together. And maybe the Steelers let him hang around. But this Pittsburgh team, Colin, I know you weren't huge on them early. They are a buy-low team right now for me in the AFC.
Starting point is 00:31:28 I know it's tough to say three and oh, how are you buying low? But everybody has Chiefs and Ravens. I'm telling you, I think the Steelers are much closer to the Chiefs than the Ravens are right now. Yeah, Greg Kosell told us earlier, they're the best defense on film in the NFL, plus they're coming in very well-rested. Tomorrow's headlines today Rams out east again third time this year at Washington. So I've had a good read on Washington this year. I'm three and no betting on or against them. The headline will be Washington packs golf a sack lunch.
Starting point is 00:32:03 And listen, every week you've got to find an upset. And I had Peter King on my podcast this week, and he's very close with Ron Rivera. And he explained the logic behind this Kyle Allen move. And it makes 10 sense for two reasons, Colin. Number one, Kyle Allen was with Ron Rivera and the O.C. Scott Turner in Carolina. So there's three years of familiarity with the offense. Whereas Dwayne Haskins only has like three games, you know, just not there. And the other one, and this is big, Washington looks around the NFC East and says,
Starting point is 00:32:31 geez, the giants stink. The cowboys aren't any good. You know, I think we could maybe win this division. Let's make the move to Kyle Allen. And if you look at the Washington schedule, they play the Giants twice coming up. Dallas. They play the Bengals, the Lions. And you're like, wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:32:47 This could get interesting if you're Washington. Chase Young returns, obviously, for the defensive line. That's huge. and I just worry a little bit about the Rams. Colin, next week, Rams 49ers, huge divisional matchup. I wonder if the Rams, again, sleepwalk through this one and either win a close one or lose outright. Yep, you and I both. I think Washington's going to upset them. Tomorrow's headlines today, what's it going to be for the Raiders at the Chiefs? That was surprised you told me Vegas here likes the Raiders. I'm stunned. The headline will be Groodd Awakening. Colin,
Starting point is 00:33:22 a car, 0 and 6 on the road in his career against the Chiefs. Pat Mahomes has owned the Raiders, 4 and 0, 11 touchdowns. I mean, this Chief's team, Colin, I speculated this week that if you look at the schedule, there is a real strong case for Casey to go 16 and O. Now, I know people are going to laugh and say, oh, they barely beat Brian Hoyer in the Patriots. They play down to folks' level. They also can play very up as we saw against Baltimore. Colin, the Chiefs have two teams remaining on their schedule with a winning record. Tampa Bay, which lost last night, and then one more. And then you toss in the Saints. They're pretty good. Next week's game against Buffalo is a big one, obviously for KC. But they steamroll the Vegas Raiders this weekend.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Tomorrow's headlines today. What's it going to be Colts Browns? I really like Indy here. Yeah, it's one of those situations where we both are on the same side. It's not as fun when we both are on the same one, Collins. The headline will be. Baker cries a river. Obviously your guy, Philip Rivers. I know you're big on the Colts. And listen, we have nailed the Browns this season. Last week, I think we called it on the show. It'll be an Odell Beckham game. And we were texting when Odell Beckham goes off against Dallas. But this is a Colts defense game. And some people are going to say, hey, they haven't beaten anybody. They haven't played anybody. That's okay. That's fine. Schematically, they should be able to handle the Browns.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Take a guess, Colin, what the Cleveland Browns, do well on offense. They run the football. Well, guess what the Colts are the best in the league against? Stopping the run. So now you've got to have Baker Mayfield try to win the game for you. We know he's erratic. He can only really go one way like the point guard who can only dribble with his right hand. I have some concerns about the Browns here. I like the Colts. Now, big picture, Colin, we both agree. The Browns are a playoff team this year. But Indy is just a sleeping giant this year in the AFC South. Yeah, they are. And by the way, you can't get to Philip Rivers. He's getting
Starting point is 00:35:20 hurried like 12% of his throws, and he's not mobile, that leads the NFL. So the offensive line for the Colts and their defensive front now are a real story. Tomorrow's headlines today, Vikings at the Seahawks Sunday night football. Yeah, Sunday night football. This is an awesome one, Colin. Your guy,
Starting point is 00:35:38 Russell Wilson, he'll probably come on the show next week. Maybe upstage me a little bit. The headline will be Russ Cooks with high heat. Viking Zimmer. So sorry, Kirk Cousins. Colin, how many times have you bet on a game? And then within the first half, you're like, why on earth would I back Kirk Cousins? In primetime, he's off seven and 15. We know he's just not a bright lights guy. And I like Kurt Cousins. Very strong player as a quarterback. He has a top 15
Starting point is 00:36:06 quarterback. But in these primetime games, historically, he's just soiled himself. And on the other side, you've got Russell Wilson, who's just an awesome human being, a great quarterback. And when the lights are brightest. He's dominant. And I just, I know the Vikings are looking good here, winning two straight, but I'm not going against Russell Wilson anymore. I just refused to do it. I did it last week. Remember, with the dolphins? And I'm just kicking myself when Russell Wilson comes through. So I'm done betting against elite quarterbacks. I won't do it. Wow, you and I agree. We both like Washington with an upset. We both like the Colts. And then we just disagree the rest of it. It is Jason McIntyre. He has a show of Fox Sports Radio Saturdays at 10 in the morning. Very good. Full of

Lean muscle, muscle mass. Don't let age define you. Check out MDrive for Men.com today. Lakers play tonight. I'll take them to win by about 15. It's one of these games that it'll be pretty close early, but my guess is Lakers' third quarter, pound the ball. You know what? This is going to be, you're going to have a realization on Friday night, LeBron is going to the finals with his fifth head coach. He's going to win his third title with his third franchise.
Starting point is 00:37:23 And I just don't know what the LeBron haters are going to do with themselves by tonight at about 9 o'clock. What are they going to do? Third championship on a different team. Jordan couldn't win on a second team. Couldn't win games on a second team. There's a part
Starting point is 00:37:42 of America is just convincing him to I don't like to get into arguments. I'm going to lose. But I mean, we're not, are we having the goad conversation? or the career conversation? No, it's just all the critics of the Bron. I guess we can do it next week. He just, everywhere he goes, just wins championships.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Miami wins him. Cleveland wins him. And by the way, he's incredible. Two of the three are dysfunctional organizations. And Lakers, when he got here, was dysfunctional. It still got some dysfunction. I'm holding out hope for tonight, Colin, still.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Just a little bit. I think it'll be a hard fat, hard contested battle. All right, for Goulet and Joy Taylor, and everybody, have yourself a great weekend. going to be a lot of football. I'll be on Fox kickoff Sunday real early. We'll see you down in the herd.
