Coaches now David Tepper fires a coach, and now everybody's looking over their shoulder.

So, Diana, it's great to see you. I want to talk about a coach that I have defended on the air because I do think he's done a good job with his side of the ball. There's a lot of moving parts with the jets. You're really connected to this situation. Is Sala safe? Where do you land on that? What do you hear? Anytime you want to talk about the Jets Colin on your show,

just say, does Aaron Rogers want this to happen? Because that's the way this organization operates. If Aaron Rogers wants it, if he wants Robert Sala, Robert Sala's good to be the coach. If he feels like Robert Sala is a good communicator, he's a good listener, he connects with these players really well, then Aaron Rogers is going to want to stick with him. And from the sense I get around the building, the staff feels like they're going to be safe.

There's an understanding that Woody Johnson understands that the season completely changed once Aaron Rogers was injured, right? Because that's really the storyline that the Jets organization wants fans and people around the league to understand. Every single thing on this team was built around Aaron, going back to how they handled their free agency. We know that they hired Nathaniel Hackett because of Aaron Rogers. We know that free agency wish list he had. Everything has to do with making sure Aaron Rogers is not only happy, but he's empowered, right? They want to make him feel that he's not just the quarterback on this team, but he's part of this franchise. And he has the control, and he is given that control.

Now, look, there's a collaboration. They all have conversations. But bottom line here, if Aaron Rogers wants it, Aaron Rogers is going to get it. And if he believes that Joe Douglas and Robert Sala are the right guys for next season, these guys are safe and it seems like that's how they all feel in the building. All right, I want to bring up Jim Harbaugh. So I was told last night from somebody that was connected and was this weekend at Ohio State Michigan. There's a feeling at Michigan.

This could be it, especially if he wins a nattie. All your sources. Are you hearing his name, Diana, being bandied about when you talk to people? Absolutely. Ever since Jim left the NFL, his name is always in the mix, but it certainly has heated up a lot more over the last week or so. So let's just start with Carolina, right? You mentioned David Tepper makes that firing this last week with Frank Wright now out. If you remember, Tepper and Harbaal had conversations last year, right?

He was a – it obviously didn't pan out, but this was something that they discussed. So that's a name that I'm hearing again. The Chicago Bears are another organization. I have heard has had some conversations about that, depending on what decision they make with this coaching staff that is in place. And of course, what they do with that quarterback situation. But Jim is certainly a name that is respected in league circles in the NFL. Ownership is definitely obviously very interested in what he could bring back to the NFL. So I certainly think this is going to just continue as we get closer to the end of the NFL regular season.

when ownership can start beginning that process of the coach search. Okay, so you have an article at The Athletic about Mike Vrable. Now, his name has been mentioned as a successor to Belichick. That's well documented and often discussed. I can't see Tennessee letting him walk out the door. Your take on Vrable, one of my favorite guys in the NFL, one of my favorite coaches, what are you hearing? The sense I get from the Titans organization, and this is just talking to high-ranking sources there, just about how they feel. Let's just start there about their head coach, right? Because

they're not having a good year at all. They don't look good on either side of the ball. And Vrabel's done a really good job the last few seasons of putting together a pretty good product considering the roster has never really been that great. But that being said, they know what they have. You know, sometimes with owners, you wonder if they understand that the talent that they have on the coaching side is that good if they're not winning. And that's really why I started to dig on that story because he's a type of coach where you do talk to people around the league. They consider him to be a top 10, top five head coach to the league, despite the fact that he hasn't won a Super Bowl with the Titans just yet. Everyone that competes against him knows that they're going to

be a really tough team to beat. So the sense I get out of Tennessee is they want to keep him there. Now, in terms of the New England side of this, and I think the rumors really started to pick up when Mike Vribal was up in New England, he was inducted in that Patriot Ring of Honor. And we saw him, right? During the game when the Patriots played the bills, he's sitting in a sweep of Robert Kraft, and they looked comfy, right? And you have to wonder what those conversations were. Of course, that would be tampering, so they wouldn't be doing that. But one of the takeaways was, you know, the New England reporters up there were saying that Vrable was emphasis. sizing to craft. It's not like this in other places. This place is really special. And I know

that stood out to me, and it made me think, hmm, maybe that's something he would want. Maybe he wants to go back to New England. But after doing some digging on that last week, bottom line, he wants to be in Tennessee, and Tennessee wants him to be in Tennessee. So I think this is going to be a marriage that we're going to see work out and continue over the next few years. All right, so I don't think Carolina is going to win much going forward. So the Bears have their pick. They have the number one pick. My guess is Caleb Williams.

Despite the win, you know, 33 starts in the NFL. I watched C.J. Stroud by the second half of his first week. If you're good, you see it and you see it pretty quick. My guess is Chicago is moving off, Justin. And I do think he has a market somewhere like Atlanta. Has that decision been made, according to your sources? I don't believe it's been made. I don't think it's been finalized.

you know, anytime you talk to somebody in the Chicago organization, they'll tell you, you know, we're still evaluating. And in terms of the power and the control there, Kevin Warren has been brought in there. He really started doing the work in Chicago. He was hired in January, but pretty much April. So he's really trying to take that time to take a look at all of it, a quarterback position, the coaching staff, and really try to make an unemotional decision in how he's, sees the Chicago Bears organization, not just have success in the short term, but of course,

the long term. So depending on how he sees it, but for me, just from staying on that story and following it all season long and obviously having those conversations, I do see Chicago not only moving on from their head coach, but I do see them getting back in the quarterback market. And figuring out where Justin Fields lands next, to me, why not the Eagles? That looks like a trade that Howie Rosen would make, you know, perhaps like a, like a Tray Lance type situation where we saw this past off season, right? That would make a lot of sense. We'll see if they'll come up with that. Jay Mack, Atlanta and the Philadelphia Eagles, Jay Mack mentioned that yesterday. It's interesting. It's an offensive culture. Maybe he'd be more comfortable, better offensive line and weapons.

Okay. When the Niners went and got Chase Young, it didn't get a lot of play because Chase Young was seen as somebody who would sort of underperformed. But if you look at the United States, at analytics since he arrived. He's actually helped their defensive front. Guy's a baller. So Shaq Leonard may be, uh, it was over an indie, but for 30 snaps, you can't tell me he doesn't matter. What is the market on Shaq Leonard? You hear all sorts of stuff. What's the latest? Yeah, it's interesting how you surround yourself with studs, how you, the, the, your productivity really goes up. And it really seems like with Chase that that's been the case here, change of environment. But for Shaq Leonard's, it's a, I think it's a different scenario, Colin.

You know, he's obviously a really disruptive player. I remember another player telling me, when you play this team, you have to know where he is at all times. I don't necessarily believe that's still the case. I don't think he's done. He's obviously not washed. You're talking about two top teams who are bringing him in for a visor, right? He met with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. He spent the day with the coaching staff. He had a physical. He left without a deal, though. and Philadelphia hadn't set up that visit until yesterday afternoon, really, because they thought Dallas was going to be able to get the deal done. And I was told that Shaq really wants to take some time here to decide where he wants to go.

So he's in Philadelphia at this moment, and I was told he'll take this weekend most likely to decide where he wants to go. So in terms his level of play, I mean, both teams talking to both of them, they obviously feel like they can make a difference. And he can make a difference. And these are both teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, who were making phone calls during the trade deadline at the end of October to try to find a linebacker, right? Both of them were in the market for it and weren't able to land anyone. So it actually makes a lot of sense why they would bring in Shaq at this point. And if he can just resemble a little bit of what he was doing and say like 2021 with seven force fumbles, then yeah, this is quite the addition.

late in the year that he would be. But obviously, we know he's dealt with a lot of injuries. Finally, in Los Angeles, they're not a big brand, but they are a big talking point on Mondays after close losses, the Chargers. So there was a story today. Spanos is generally, they don't spend a ton of money on coaches. They'll let it play out to the end of the season. A lot of people here talk about, you know, Kellyn Moore. My question is, would they consider a hardball and then Harbaugh would want personnel control. What do you hear? Would it be Kellyn Moore? Would it be big money?

And they've been reluctant. Anthony Lynn, Brandon Staley. They've taken young up-and-comers. Harbine the discussion, big name. What do you make of it, Diana? Well, I can tell you, the Kellynne Moore situation, he's been given an opportunity to show what he's able to do on the offensive side of the ball and bring out the best in Justin Herbert. So we've seen it. And I'm not necessarily sure

that's helped him this season. I think Kellan Moore's value was a lot higher last year when he was with the Dallas Cowboys. When he met with the Panthers twice, he almost got that job. He was close to getting that job. So I would be

shocked if they went with Kellyn Moore, who obviously is on that staff right now. And I know there's a report right now that they're going to clear house. And that's the sense around the league that Brandon Staley will be done at the end of this year, pretty much no matter what happens here over the next few. weeks. Obviously, if they were able to go all the way of the Super Bowl, that's not going to change.

But with that in mind, I do think Jim Harrow is a name that they'd be crazy not to at least take a meeting with him, knowing that, look, we haven't been able to figure this out and get this right with the people that we put in place that don't have as much experience. Why not bringing a guy who knows how to develop a quarterback? And yeah, maybe the control thing doesn't agree with how you normally run business, but Sometimes you see these teams going in a different direction, knowing it's probably for the better, and that could be for the better for the chargers.

All right, J-Mac with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So somewhere along the line, I don't know, I became a Steelers fan this year. some preseason money on make or miss the playoffs. I don't know. Maybe it's a flashy offense then.

So over the weekend, you know, Deontay Johnson in the game against the Bengals, if you see him there on the screen, number 18, not even moving at the snap. The ball's fumbled. He doesn't seem to care. I know. And it goes viral. He's just standing there, like, checked out on the play. Look, everybody's running around scrambling.

He's just like, ah. Immature. I'm, you know, too blessed to be stressed. Anyways, Mike Tomlin has addressed this during his weekly press conference. Here's what he had to say. We got to take care of the ball. It is our desire, is how we construct victory. And so Jayland's got to do a better job there.

You know, Deonté can't let the emotions of the previous down affect his next down. But I'll give him an opportunity to address that with you guys. I'll give him an opportunity to address that with his teammates. I'm not going to add any additional color. I think plays like that are best described and outlined by those involved and less. by guys like me. Such a good quote. Yeah, he's basically going to let the player defend himself.

Listen, the Steelers, through the years, because of Tomlin's gravitas and respect, had been willing to take players emotionally that can be viewed as difficult at other teams like take off the board. And that's a credit to Tomlin, is that he can coach these guys and get the most out of them. And so that's why you get, you know,

Labian Bell, Antonio Brown, I mean, Big Ben had his own drama, right? So I think with Pittsburgh, because of Tomlin's presence and respect in the building, they have rolled a dice on some of these players. They're often incredibly productive. And so the way the Steelers look at at J-Mac is, yeah, we've done this before, and it's always worked for us. And so, like, not every culture is the same.

He may not work with certain coaches, but he works with Tomlin. Tomlin. Tomlin always gets these guys, at least early in their career, figured out. I'm a little, I think he's been through this with Antonio Brown and let's be real. Johnson's good. He ain't no Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown at the height of his powers was a superstar in the NFL. So you put up with a lot for a superstar Johnson and Pickens, man. These receivers, they get a lot of flags for celebrating first downs and like run their mouth.

Some of that stuff's got to change. I don't know. You like the Steelers this week, five and a half against the Cardinals? It's a big number. I like the Cardinals. Better quarterback, they'll lose but cover. They also, Cardinals got blown out. Teams that get blown out usually play. Yeah, they'll play a spirited game and lose to the Steelers.

I'll just point out, AFC has, I don't know if it's 60%, but they've dominated the NFC head-to-head. This is another AFC versus NFC. Yeah, AFC is better. No, no question. Except at the top. Next up, Gino Smith. Oh, boy.

It's got that elbow injury suffering in Week 11. Showed it in the loss of the Niners. I mean, San Frang was just killing them after like two quarters. But with a full week of recovery, Gino's off the injury report, Pete Carroll had this to say about his QB. Difference night and day. Night and day. He's out there running practice and putting on a show for us as he does every week.

He was throwing the football over the place. And he did that exactly. He was full go the whole time. And that was not the case in Dan. So, you know, we want to make a big deal about it. It's pretty obvious. You know, there's a big difference. This number keeps climbing, Colin.

Seven, seven and a half. Well, Dallas has been the best home cover team. last couple of years in the league. And I think it should be noted. We touched on this yesterday. Dak is having his best year and Mike McCarthy's his coach. Aaron had a better win percentage with Mike McCarthy in the playoffs than Matt LaFleur. I mean, I am critical of McCarthy, but I will say Dallas, however he motivates, does anybody

in the league crush the teams they should crush like Dallas? And the answer is no. Correct. All right. You ready for this? I just knew there was something I needed to look at. What does Dallas play after Seattle? Oh, would you look at that? The rematch with the Eagles is next weekend. Is there a chance? Dallas feeling themselves after multiple blowouts are looking on that calendar. They've got it circled. We want revenge on the Eagles. Here's what I see.

And do they possibly overlook a reeling Seattle team? Philadelphia loses to San Francisco, since his urgency, goes to Dallas and beats him again and plays better than they did the first time. I thought Philadelphia won that game, and there was a lot left on the bone. The Dallas game?

Yeah, I mean, I thought Dallas mostly outplayed him and played about as well as they can and lost. Philadelphia played okay and won. I think Philadelphia loses to the Niners, comes back, plays very, focus football and beats Dallas. Dallas doesn't beat good teams. So you got Dallas covered in this week against Seattle?

I'd probably stay away, but listen, every time I doubted Dallas against commanders, Dallas wins these games and wins them comfortably. It's tomorrow night. They won 45-10, 33-10, 49-17, 43-20. I mean, if you're not good, they're going to smash you. Yep.

And if you're struggling a quarterback, they'll really smash you. I'd be careful here. I'm going to tell you something. No back from me yet. That's Shaq Leonard News. You're not paying a fortune for him. If Dallas could add, and by the way, when the Niners went and got Chase Young, they didn't need Chase Young. They had a pass rush. It was an additive.

You're adding strength to strength. The Cowboys don't need Shaq Leonard. They have Micah. You're adding strength to strength. Pass rush. Well, I thought didn't Van Derresch get hurt? Like, they're going to need somebody to stop that Eagles run game. Jalen hurts running up the middle is like...

I'm just telling 30 snaps for Chase Young, 28 snaps a game for Chase Young. 28 for Shaq Leonard. Yeah, I'll take that. I'm not asking him for 56 where Shaq can get hurt. 25, 28 snaps for Shaq Leonard at Dallas. I think it makes them a better football team, absolutely. Okay. I honestly, if Dallas adds Shaq Leonard,

no, I honestly think they're not only in the Super Bowl bubble, I think they're a top five team. I think he's the kind of guy. Is Shaq Leonard putting him over the top against the Niners or Eagles? It puts them right in the same octagon. Octo. Okay. It goes Kansas City, Baltimore, Dallas, Philly, San Francisco. In that order?

No. Oh, okay. And again, I know Shaq Leonard's probably not worth half a point, but I'm saying is, from a personnel standpoint with a great defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, you give him another piece. I mean, when you give these defensive coordinators who have been around, another piece. And he's going to be motivated after just basically getting kicked off the team in Indy, Like, dude, dude, Shaq is long, big, fast, physical.

Like, dude, he's just not a 59, 69, 63 snap guy that you build around. You know, that's not what he is. I'm okay with it. I don't need a three-hour show. Give me a good opening rant. Final story is the NBA. Mark Cuban is selling his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks. Cuban will remain the governor of the franchise and in control of all basketball operations.

He's owned a math since 2000. He purchased a majority share for 285 mil. The team is currently valued at $3.5 billion. Now, a lot of people are speculating, hey, he's leaving that show Shark Tank. And now he's selling his stake. Oh, my gosh, Mark Cuban's going to run for president. And I don't know. I talked to someone last night.

It sounds like he's bringing on Adelson from Vegas. You know what he did in Vegas? Casinos. Very conservative family. Big time casinos. And that's what Mark Cuban wants to do. He wants to bring gambling to Texas, be part of the team. that does that, and all of a sudden

he's got this destination. You build an arena, hotel, casino, and he's got this complex, and Dallas is like a big-time destination. So I don't think he's running for president. I think he's just trying to make more money. Well, that's what rich guys do. They like to make more money. It's not a bad idea.

Thank you for finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really?

We have to go to a watering hole and check that one out. I'll go to a watering hole. I know which one I'm going to. Join me if you'd like. It's a big number. Okay. So there's a story out. Aaron Rogers officially today starts what they call a 21-day practice window. Now, the Jets play Atlanta, Houston, Miami, I think in that order, all with significantly better offenses. So if you start looking at the schedule, they're not going to win at Miami,

I doubt. They face some offenses here that can move the ball. Even Sam Halen, Washington can move the ball a little bit. So my take is this team is going to end up probably a five to a six-win team, six and 11. but Robert Sala talking about Aaron now can he's ready to go. Do you have to be able to activate him after the 21 days? We're not there yet because there's still like, you know, he's like a lot of guys coming off.

They're usually not ready to play football. There's still a little bit of health concern there. And so, you know, you use these 21 day windows to see where they're at. So we're so far away from that. But like I said, the mindset for this is more of a progression. in his rehab. And like I said, he's been cleared for functional football activity. Functional football activity.

What does that mean to you? Now, you're a Jets fan, the resident Jets expert. Oh. You don't want to have him play. I think it would be a huge mistake. I think it's been, you know, he fashions himself. Aaron likes you to think that he is, you know, not conforming to society's rules, and I don't need vaccines, and I, you know, I mean, I think I'm saying something

that it's kind of understood, you know, he views himself as not a traditionalist. He's going to push back on mandates, government, media, anything that's traditional. Anti-establishment. That's fine. I'm not against. I think we need people like that. And if Aaron's one of those people, I'm fine with that.

I think a lot of this is interesting, but I don't believe he's capable of playing in the NFL this year. I think it just, I could see him coming back. Remember, he got hurt in the fourth play of the year. Your take on it is. Yeah, I don't want to see him out there. He's going to get hurt again. Now, listen, is he an upgrade? Is Aaron Rogers on one leg an upgrade from Tim Boyle?

Certainly. But do we want to see Rogers end his career like this? Achilles comes back quickly and then gets hurt again? What's the point? I don't know, man. This is the Jets franchise. I don't know why it's... Would you move off him?

I would explore all options. Like I've been saying for two months, like, what can you get for Sauce Gardner? Like, he's awesome, but I think you've got to get better is you've got to look at everything. You have a business currently. you look at all options all the time. Yes.

The Jets have to seriously consider. Maybe this is not happening. It's not a thing. Nathaniel Hackett's been a disaster. Who's the resident? Alan Luzard. Like, what's he done? Healthy Scratch last week.

Nicole Hardman. Everything Aaron Rogers has touched has kind of turned to poo. But Diana Rusini is saying basically it all runs through Aaron. That's not great. No, it's not. You're letting an anti-establishment, 39-year-old run the show. Now, you could argue, listen,

the Jets haven't been good for a while. They've got the longest playoff drought in the league. What do they have to lose? And I'll just say dignity, maybe. Well, they haven't had a bunch of that. Also true. Wait, Woody Johnson, if you're paying attention, get a clue, bro. This is bad.

New York sports is a mess. Terrible. I mean, what's going on with the Yankees this off season? It's a mess. New York sport. At least Jalen Brunson's there carrying the torch for the next. But they're not a title team. Well, that's because Julius Randall's playing like garbage.

All right, Joel Klatt. So the college football playoff came out. Now, I don't spend too much time on the rankings because all these teams have a very good team coming up next. But it's like, you know, Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and Florida State. Florida State now, their star quarterback got hurt. They have a backup quarterback. They would be an underdog to the first seven teams, eight teams. Oregon would be favored over them.

Texas, Bama, Washington, Ohio State. Georgia, they'd all be favored over Florida State. And what happens in college football, there's this battle between resume and reality. The reality is we all know who recruits at the highest level. Those teams win the Natty every year. The average margin of victory in these games in the playoffs, it's been like over two touchdowns. So the media pushes for it.

The committee pushes for resume and they deserve to be here. And that team always gets smoked. So Florida State would get smoked if they got it and played, you know, Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Bama, Texas. Texas, Ohio State, Florida, whoever they play. You know, they had 200 yards offense against Florida this past week. But Joel Klatt says, don't be surprised if after this weekend they don't make it. If you believe that Florida State has earned a spot in the playoff, I'm fine with that.

Because you know what? It's hard to go undefeated. And I don't care exactly what your conference makeup is, as long as it's in the Power 5. They played LSU in the non-conference. They beat Clemson at Clemson. But without their quarterback, for you to suggest that they're one of the four best teams is silly. I think that we have to be prepared for the fact that the committee usually takes the path of least resistance, and I think Florida State with a win is going to go.

And I don't think that would be good for college football. I think that it would be good for them. Yeah, good news is next year we go to a 12-team playoffs, and we won't have these arguments. I wouldn't care if a team gets in as a 12. It's like people who get worked up over the 68th team in March Madness. But when you have a small number of playoff teams, take the best teams. Vegas is the truth. Florida State would be a two-touchdown underdog to all the teams in the top six or seven in Clats poll or my poll.

But, you know, be that as it may, this is the final year of the playoff. And if it's true to form, they'll put Florida State in. That's what they do, the path of least resistance. You know, it's whatever. So, I mean, you know, Texas lost a game. Ohio State lost a game. Bama lost a game. You know, don't lose the game.

We wouldn't have an argument. I think Washington's going to lose Friday to Oregon. So, you know, somebody, usually what happens on this weekend is somebody gets upset. Now, Iowa's got a great defense. Michigan came off a wildly dramatic win. Harbaugh's back on the sideline. Could Michigan lose? Could Oregon lose?

Yeah, Washington's got, like, NFL players and a great coach. So usually, a lot of people think Bama can be. Georgia. I don't. I think there's a huge... I think they both have great athletes, both have great coaches. Georgia's got a much better quarterback. But Bama last week obviously was looking ahead to Georgia because they almost lost to Auburn. Probably should have. So that's kind of where we're at on that thing. Where's the game this year that Alabama has looked good? Give me one game. Like they haven't played well at all. I could be, if my memory serves me. Didn't they beat Ole Miss and look pretty good, if I recall.

All right. Ole Miss, whoopty damn do. Come on, man. The only reason they were to discussion is because their name is Alabama. Well, they've been great forever with Saban. They did win all their games except Texas. Yeah, okay. But I don't like the fact.

I don't like the fact. Ohio State lost on the road. Bama lost at home. That matters. Where you lose matters. They got spanked at home by Texas. That was a spanking. Well, Oregon lost, tough stadium on the road.

Ohio State lost. Tough Stadium on the road. That matters. Bama lost at home. In college football, you rarely see teams go into top 10 teams and win on the road. So the idea, when you lose matters and where you lose. Bama lost a home game and got pushed around by Texas. How about this?

Alabama beat Texas A&M 2620. That's the A&M. The Fired Jimbo Fisher. I know. I watched Bama play five times. They beat Arkansas. Mighty Arkansas. 24-21.

By Auburn. They were outfitting by Auburn. I watched, they were outplayed by. It's just not a good, it's okay to say that. I'm not a hater. They're just not a good football team. Well, there's a lot better. They're a good football team.

You're right. They're not a great football team. Yeah. Michigan, Oregon, Georgia are exceptional college football teams. This is the best Michigan team I've ever seen. It's the best Oregon team I've seen. It is not the best Georgia team I've seen. You know, we don't love to bet favorites, but you could parlay Michigan and Georgia this weekend and feel great about it.

You can just go out and spend the money before the games are even with. Iowa's going to ugly that thing up. They're not going to score much. They may lose 9 to 6, but, you know, Iowa's got... Wow. Okay, go ahead. Take the points. I double dog dare you.

It's not scintillating football, but it's a lot of guys in the NFL. You can find special teams touchdowns to keep this thing close. I'm just saying some favorites probably going to lose this weekend because that's the way it usually works. FSU. A man can dream. A man can pray. All right. We'll see you tomorrow.
