Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcast Presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted
Starting point is 00:00:44 amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you
Starting point is 00:01:00 Listen to soccer moms on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be? I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to futas to scheduling sex. Wait, what sex? Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes? They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure. are going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter. Listen to How Hard
Starting point is 00:01:34 Can It Be with Deanna Maria Riva on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season, and I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was part of it. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs.
Starting point is 00:02:03 This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRedia.com or stream us live every day in the IHeart Heart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Well, it's the players, the fans, and even the broadcasters, are running on fumes.
Starting point is 00:02:46 18 innings. A guy who's been around, iconic moments, his whole life, Derek Jeter, five-time World Series champ, 14-time All-Star. That was crazy. You know, it's really interesting. I made this point about you several times over the last 10 years that even great baseball players, their numbers often go down in the postseason. You're facing better pitching. It's harder.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Yours didn't. You were the same guy. So Freddie Freeman's got that ability to just, he's Freddie Freeman. In Atlanta, in L.A., regular season. Is there a trick to it? Because you're facing better pitching. You're in high leverage situations. I mean, the crowd's on you.
Starting point is 00:03:30 how did you like just you were just the same Derek Jeter? I feel that with Freeman. Is there a secret way to do it? I don't know if there's a secret way to do it, Colin. I think it's more of just approaching every game like it's a regular season game. You know, you have to pride yourself on consistency. And it's not like you show up in a World Series game and say, oh my goodness, all of a sudden now I'm playing in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Let me try to do more. You know, Freddy's an unbelievable hitter, you know, And I guess the best thing I can say about Freddie is I'm more surprised when he doesn't come through as opposed to when he does. Because you've seen him do it so much over and over and over. Regular season, postseason, it doesn't matter. And he's the same person. You know, he's got the same demeanor. You know, he's, I don't know, he had 25 at bats last night, whether he got out or he hit a home run.
Starting point is 00:04:25 I mean, it's the same approach when he's in the box. And that's what I appreciate about Freddie. You know, Derek, your great Yankee teams had this ability to take a really good player, like a Scott Brocious, good player, and rise to be a star in the moment. You know, there was Posada and you and Mariano and, you know, there was a core four or five guys, Hall of Fame guys. And then there were good guys that got great in moments. Well, Will Klein was at Tacoma with a seven ERA,
Starting point is 00:04:56 and last night he goes four innings. And I make this argument, it's almost like when you are a good athlete, but you're around great athletes. You do rise. And there were guys on those Yankee teams. I mean, I'm watching Will Klein, and I'm on the internet, and I'm like, who's Will Klein? What do you make of a guy that's at AAA release multiple times doing that? Do you do, have you seen that guy's rise in the moment? 100%.
Starting point is 00:05:25 How about Will Klein, though? I mean, he wasn't even on the roster. He's in Arizona for the last few weeks. Never pitched this many innings before in his career. He's out there on the mound, and he does what he does in a World Series game, a pivotal World Series game. So, yeah, I know what you're saying, Colin. A lot of times, you know, when you're with a group that has had a lot of experience
Starting point is 00:05:46 and a lot of success, like the Los Angeles Dodgers, you know that you don't have to do too much yourself. You just want to play your part and you want to do your job. You know, you don't put everything on your own. And I think when you think small like that, good things happen. So we've had players, you know, like you mentioned, that may have not had too much success with other teams. And then they come and they join our group. And then all of a sudden you see them come up with these big moments because they
Starting point is 00:06:13 know that, look, I'm surrounded by people who are professional and consistent and get the job done. Therefore, all I have to do is play my small part. But let me say this, he played more than a small part last night. I mean, that was fun to watch. Oh. So you got you got Dodgers fans Googling Will Klein all morning today
Starting point is 00:06:33 Yeah during the game I'm like who is and I saw it I grew up by Tacoma I'm like Tacoma rainiers That's why I was a kid Otani's now going to pitch And you know the amazing thing about Otani You can see the gifts right I don't think sometimes people understand
Starting point is 00:06:52 how emotionally draining pitching is Right like it's it's the focus i mean that you go to the laptop it's like what's this guy like what's this guy here and when you watch otani are you more blown away by the stuff at the plate or the pitching um both absolutely both look i mean starting pitchers you pitch every fifth day for a reason right you have four days off because you have to go through your routine you have to get your body ready you get you get your arm in shape. And for him to be able to, look, I mean, he's arguably the best offensive player in baseball,
Starting point is 00:07:32 along with Aaron Judge and everyone's seeing Vladimir Guerrero. So you can make a case for him being the best offensive player. And pitching-wise, I mean, what he's been able to do, if you just take away everything offensively, you know, he could be the best pitcher in the game, but then to have him do both, I can't, I don't get it, I don't even know how to answer the question, but it's like he's, we were joking about it last night, it's like he's the six foot
Starting point is 00:08:03 two little leaguer that's 12 years old that absolutely dominates in little league and he's doing it at the major league level. You know, it's interesting. I like starting pick. My theory has always been, could be football or basketball or baseball. all. End of the game's biggest moments. Have your best players. Nothing against bullpins. I want my starter. I want, I want Garrett Cole. I don't care if it was Verlander in his prime. Yoshi. I don't want a bullpen. Baseball's changed. It's a bullpen sport. Do you like it? I like my guy. I like A guys in A moments. What do you make of the explosion of bullpens and a batter and inning? What do you make of it? I think it's hard.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Look, the Dodgers showed it last season because they pretty much rode their bullpen to a championship. But that's hard to do, especially when you start playing these long series because the more times you see the bullpen, the better you're going to be offensively. I think this type of baseball that the Dodgers are playing right now, relying on their starters.
Starting point is 00:09:10 You know, this is sort of a throwback to when, you know, we had Clemens and we had Petit and Musina and Cece. Guys that would go out there and they were expected to throw seven, eight innings. And then you go to Mariano and it's game over. It is, I really enjoy watching this Dodgers team. I was joking with Dave Roberts last night, and I said, you look younger. He looks younger because he just sits back and he relaxes and he watches his starters. And there's a couple moves, with an exception of last night, that was a completely different type of game.
Starting point is 00:09:40 But you sit back, you rely on your starters. And it's fun to watch. But the Dodgers are peeking. They've peaked at the right time. from, you know, a health standpoint and from a pitching standpoint. And it's really is a throwback. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, is Covino and Rich from Fox Sports Radio?

Starting point is 00:10:25 hit that thumbs up icon, and comment away. Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, news, news? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas, we invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
Starting point is 00:10:44 But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:11:05 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:11:27 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin. and Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:11:51 I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
Starting point is 00:12:26 So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30, you shouldn't have to share room with anybody. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:12:50 From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real, honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them? Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food.
Starting point is 00:13:12 because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. They're practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you eat if you had to start over? Real simple, poor man's, poor woman's food. Black beans, chicken, rice, plantain. That's poor people's food, man.
Starting point is 00:13:44 But being Nigeria, and that's, come on, a go-to. On the podcast eating while broke, I sit down with celebrities, entrepreneurs, and creators as they revisit the meals they once relied on and the moments that shaped their journey. Named Best Food Podcasts at the 2006 I Heart Podcast Awards, this show is all about real conversations on money, growth, and what it really takes to make it. It was times where me and Lex were, like, definitely getting into it. Because we're not making any money. Like, I need to start making money.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Like, why are we doing this? But I don't know. I think we just always knew that we had something really good. And eventually people were going to catch on. And so we just thugged it out. The full season is available to binge. Right now, listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:34 I thought baseball was at its best. And I was working for another company. It was Red Sox Yankees. and I used to say is there was something about old Yankee Stadium is that it was it it was almost like a bridge it moved a little bit when it got loud it just it felt different but it was also the players is that the Dodgers now off a championship Toronto now backs against the wall
Starting point is 00:15:00 I really think with the Springer injury and exhausting their bullpen I'm like I don't know if Toronto can come back but I also think there is an advantage having been in games like this when you would be with the Yankees and you'd play a really talented team. And it was one of those games that you just won an extra winning game or a highly dramatic game at Yankee Stadium. You won, you go home, you sleep, you wake up. Did you feel like driving to the ballpark the next day?
Starting point is 00:15:27 Did you feel like this is an edge? This is what being a Yankee is. Because I honestly, after that game, I think, I think last year's Dodgers, this year's Dodgers, I don't know if Toronto's got anything left. Do you? well I'd be very careful to count them out you know Toronto's had their backs against the wall from you know the majority of the season no one thought they'd win the ALEs
Starting point is 00:15:49 no one thought they'd get to the world series they have a very very talented group that they've overcome adversity look I said it before I think the Dodgers have the best team in baseball I think they're they're playing well at the right time and quite frankly I think they can play better than they are right now and it just goes to show you how good they are and how balanced they are but you know you play
Starting point is 00:16:09 a game like last night, it's one of those games if you lose, it's tough, man. It's a tough pill to swallow because, you know, you always look back and say, well, we had an opportunity and this could have changed the series. So we'll see how Toronto bounces back, but, you know, they've been doing it all year. Yeah. The, um, one of the things, I remember years and years ago, uh, somebody asked you, you were in a slump and you said, you said, man, I don't overthink it. I just go in tomorrow. I want to hit the ball hard. I'm going to go and just hit it hard.
Starting point is 00:16:42 I'm not going to overthink it. Oh, Tani, he couldn't hit against Milwaukee. Like, he was struggling until that one profound game. And there are different guys at different times in the postseason that get into slumps. How do you compartmentalize in the World Series or an ALCS? If last night you left five runners on, last night, you know, Freddie Freeman the other day on a pop-up made a mistake. It's like, man, you got to forget about that.
Starting point is 00:17:08 that. You've got to be dialed in. Did you find it easier or harder in the postseason, the World Series, to compartmentalize the moment after a, you draw the collar, after two strikeouts? I always thought it was easier, you know, because when you get to the playoffs, only one thing matters. Only one thing matters. Every pitch, every bat, every situation, you have a chance to help the team win. So you don't ever get in a box thinking about what's my average this series. It's what can I do in this particular moment? So I always, that's why I love playing in the postseason. I mean, I hit a home run in 2001, the Mr. November home run.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And I think I had one hit in the World Series up until that point. But no one remembers that because every moment you come up, you have a chance to do something. So I always found that it was easier. And I think if you put that pressure on yourself in terms of, you know, I haven't done this or I haven't done that, that's when it sort of snowballs. but if your only focuses each individual pitch, each at bat, each game, I think it makes it a little bit easier. Do you know what you hit in the World Series?
Starting point is 00:18:14 It's insane. This is insane. I know. 321. That's an insane batting average in the World Series because you're facing. It was fun. Yeah, I mean, those are, you know, that's what you dream of. You dream of playing in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:18:32 You know, this is what it's all, this is what, fun is about. I mean, this is what you, when you're in Little League, you sit down and you're in the backyard and you're dreaming that you're up in a World Series. So, look, I was fortunate. I played in a lot of World Series.
Starting point is 00:18:47 I played in Seven World Series, man. So, you know, I've had a lot of at-bats, but I just love it. If there's one thing I do miss, I don't miss playing the game. I don't. There hasn't been a day since I retired where I've missed playing the game. But if you could, if I could wake up and play in a World Series, I'd do it.
Starting point is 00:19:05 You know, I hope you're going to get a nap in here before the ballpark. You don't have to play short tonight. I'm going to try, man. I have no voice. We're going to see what happens. I just, the only thing I'm hoping for is nine innings. That's all I can do today. So am I, actually.
Starting point is 00:19:20 So am I. Yeah, right. All right. Great seeing you, Derek. You too, buddy. Appreciate it. All right. The great Derek Jeter.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Yeah. That's okay. We're all rooting for nine innings. That's crazy. That is when you, 320, was Derek's career average about 309? 3-10 to hit better in a world series.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Like I think some guys are just built for it. I think Freddie Freeman, it's like Derek Jeter said. You're surprised when he doesn't deliver with two men on. Like some guys are just built for it. Some guys, I mean, I always felt Michael Jordan at the free throw line. So I was close. Derek Jeter's career averages 3-10. He hit better than that in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:19:59 That's something. J-MAC with the news. No, no, no. Turn on the news. is the herd line news. All right, Colin, let's start with those Baltimore Ravens who are playing games with the injury report. Kind of sort of joking, but Lamar Jackson is expected to play
Starting point is 00:20:17 Thursday against the Dolphins. John Harbaugh said he's very confident in his quarterback, returning to action, claiming last week's injury report was just a mistake. Colin, from the veteran coach. Lamar is a active, actually a fully participant in practice this week. That's what they're saying. Ravens minus seven and a half in Miami, Thursday night. I don't want to do it again.
Starting point is 00:20:45 So last week and Monday night football, I took the Chiefs and I took four favorites and my favorites went five and oh this weekend. I missed it an over-under. There's one over-under I like this week, but I'm looking today. I'm liking a lot of favorites again. There's two underdogs I like and there's four fans. favorites I like. So the dogs have been barking on Thursday this season. Obviously, we saw the Bengals last week. It's just tough to make a case for Miami, man. They're not good despite that win over the Falcons.
Starting point is 00:21:17 By the way, can I just say, I know that you love the Falcons so much, so deeply, every season you tell me, avoid them. Like, no Drake London, no panics, they couldn't do anything. So are the dolphins suddenly good, or did they just have a great situation last week? Well, here's why I like the Ravens as a favorite. Yeah. So the band's back together. So, like, they don't have any time to waste. Like, that game Sunday with Tyler Huntley, like, they had to win it. The Bears didn't.
Starting point is 00:21:45 So Baltimore is one of the few teams in the league. They've got to win the next five games. They can't mess around with this stuff. So my take is Miami comes in feeling good, but to your point, they had some help. And I think Baltimore is playing hair on fire. I think Baltimore is going to roll Miami. I can't disagree with you there. All right, let's move on to interesting subplot here.
Starting point is 00:22:12 The Minnesota Vikings, Colin, have a big game Sunday at the Lions. It's a huge game on Fox. It feels like season saving time. Here's the big story. So Carson Wentz had been filling in for JJ McCarthy. We've now got word that Carson Wentz had a torn labrum other issues, but it happened two weeks ago. So they were playing and starting Carson Wentz despite these injuries.
Starting point is 00:22:36 Of course, they get so bad now he's out for the season with shoulder surgery. J.J. McCarthy is going to start this week. But interestingly, he was the emergency quarterback, Colin, the last two weeks. So there's some speculation. Well, wait a sec. If McCarthy was the emergency quarterback and the Vikings knew Wents had a torn labrum, why didn't they just start McCarthy? Like, if he's good enough to be the emergency, shouldn't he have just started for whence?
Starting point is 00:23:04 And it's becoming a thing in Minnesota. I'm being told via text that essentially the emergency quarterback essentially goes in and just hands the ball off. He's not throwing the ball because he's not healthy. So maybe McCarthy was hurt. Is McCarthy playing this week? He's starting this week. But to go from emergency for two weeks to starting, did he magically get healthy? I don't know how you don't like the Lions this week.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Well, it's tough to not lay it with the lions at home. Now, Kevin O'Connell in a, you know, they've got to have it game. Can they show up? I mean, the defense has not looked good. They got destroyed by Justin Herbert and company. I don't know, Colin. Essentially, JJ McCarthy has one good quarter in the two games he's played in his career. And that was the fourth quarter against your bears.
Starting point is 00:23:50 Remember that one? Yeah. Detroit gets back. They're not my bears anymore. They were my bears earlier. Is that because you're bashing Caleb Williams? this week. They're not returning your phone calls.
Starting point is 00:24:00 I'm offering contextualizing. Yes, I'm contextualizing. I'm not bashing. Yeah. Okay. Final story, Colin. Yeah, here we go.
Starting point is 00:24:08 It's Wembe time. I know you were watching last night. Look at this. 360 lay from the 75 Wemby. Oh, my. Look at this. Look at this. He just erases shots at the rim.
Starting point is 00:24:19 Colin, the spurs are 4 and 0. Wemby had 24 and 15. Didn't have to play much last night. Because the, who's that the Raptors? Yeah, they stink. Look at Wemby in transition. They're starting five. Stefan Castle.
Starting point is 00:24:32 They're starting five's good. I don't know about their bench, but they're starting five's good. Yeah. With the win to Spurs are now for another best start in eight years. And, you know, I don't know, man. I think Wembe Nyama,
Starting point is 00:24:45 we're talking first team all NBA. That's how good. I mean, he's made such a freaking leap. Look at these numbers. So Yokic is the best player in the league. My take is Wemby. will surpass Luca at some point because he has so much dexterity and presence on the defensive end. I mean, Victor can do more than Luca can do.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Luke can give you 38, but he's not doing much in the defensive end. I mean, he's almost at five blocks a game. So let's look at this. So Yokic is the best player in the game. To this moment, Luca's number two, but Wembe will probably be two in an hour. Yonis would be four. Oh, okay. Janus 4, Wembe 3. SGA 5.
Starting point is 00:25:29 I guess I'll give you that. Okay, who's 6? Well, Anthony Edwards is hurt right now. LeBron's hurt right now. Tatum's hurt right now. You know, League's got a lot of injuries. It's certainly not your boy Cooper Flagg. It's not Anthony Davis.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Anthony Davis. Yeah, I think you're right, Steph. By the way, is Anthony Davis, I'm just going to throw this out there. Is he put on some weight? Yeah, they're calling, yeah, I don't want a fat shame anyone, but it looks like just. He looks heavy. Put on a couple. Well, you know, I had a busy summer eating in Dallas.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I guess I haven't been to Dallas in a few years, but the food is good there? Yeah, ribs, steaks everywhere. Luca gained weight in Dallas. Remember, they started to fat shame him. And now he's all skinny out here in L.A. eating avocado toast and everything. I mean, listen, they're saying you look like you may have put on a few pounds since moving to the Midwest. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:19 Let me tell you something. Eaton's good out here. Very good. J. Mack with a new. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. That was very nice of Derek Jeter to stop by.
Starting point is 00:26:33 He did not have to go on our show today, and he's working on about 35 minutes sleep. So I appreciate that. That is just wild. It is wild. What we're watching. I don't know. 18 innings.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Isn't that spectacular? I think one of the craziest stats is Otani, last couple of weeks. has reached base every time. Seven for seven and six walks. It's like beer league stuff. Like what? He's facing the best staffs.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Just incredible. It's the herd. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the iHeart radio app. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new?
Starting point is 00:27:23 Huge news. We've created our own podcast. called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
Starting point is 00:27:36 But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going to. down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the
Starting point is 00:28:00 podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam. It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:28:32 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:28:53 And then he has to give us every. everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball, like,
Starting point is 00:29:09 after you go through a training camp with that, I say, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Agency, the ability to, know that we're the experts in our own body.
Starting point is 00:29:27 On the podcast cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. I wholeheartedly think, you know, you hit 30. You shouldn't have to share one with anybody. Mm-hmm. From navigating friendships and healing to setting boundaries and prioritizing your mental health. These are real honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right?
Starting point is 00:29:54 Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them? Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. That's not realistic. I'm standing and handing my children food. Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. They're practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. What would you eat if you had to start over? Real simple, poor man's, poor woman's food. Black beans, chicken, rice, plantains. Yeah. That's all, that's poor people's food, man. But being Nigerian, that's, come on, a go-to. On the podcast eating while broke, I sit down with celebrities,
Starting point is 00:30:42 entrepreneurs, and creators as they revisit the meals they once relied on and the moments that shaped their journey. Named Best Food Podcasts at the 2006 I-Heart Podcast Awards, This show is all about real conversations on money, growth, and what it really takes to make it. It was times where me and Lex were, like, definitely get into it. Because we're not making any money. Like, I need to start making money. Like, why are we doing this?
Starting point is 00:31:06 But I don't know. I think we just always knew that we had something really good. And eventually people were going to catch on. And so we just thugged it out. The full season is available to binge right now. Listen to Eating While Broke from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcast. Game 4, World Series tonight.
Starting point is 00:31:38 It was interesting. I was watching the NFL and the favorites just dominated as the weather turns cold and more defensive players than offensive players get hurt on average in the NFL. That's why it's important to be a young team
Starting point is 00:31:53 like a Seattle or a Green Bay. You don't want to get too old because young players tend to heal more quickly. So there are some teams in this league that are old and feel old. And when you get banged up, when the weather turns, guys take four weeks, not two. But I thought last week,
Starting point is 00:32:09 the most interesting game was Bears and the Ravens in Baltimore. And then Lamar couldn't play. And it was funny. I thought about going to X and say, okay, I'm pulling that out of the Blazing Five. But I thought Harbaugh off a buy. Huntley's been around a while. They're getting really healthy.
Starting point is 00:32:26 And I don't trust the Bears on the road. And I don't trust NFC teams against the. Ravens in Baltimore. And you end up watching that game. And there was a really bad interception. Caleb threw from his own end zone. And, you know, the coach is like he shouldn't have thrown it there. Caleb's like, oh, a guy jumped the route.
Starting point is 00:32:44 It was a really bad pick. And you notice in Chicago, I've had multiple people say, you're too hard on Caleb. And I saw a column today that said, you know, he's fine, relaxed. Well, the difference is when you get Ben Johnson, the hottest coach and have the 30s schedule and spent a hundred million on your O line upgrades. And honestly, Roma Dunzee, DJ Moore, Loveland, Luther Burden, DeAndre Swift, the Bears have really good offensive skill people, like way above average. Well, fine's not good enough.
Starting point is 00:33:18 And I think he has been fine. But, you know, I mean, like, you want to see a notch above fine against the bear's schedule. I mean, even playing the Ravens, they got a huge break. They didn't have to face Lamar Jackson. So now their defense is a bit overrated too. It takes the ball away, but yards per play, they give up about five and a half, six yards to play. It's not a great defense.
Starting point is 00:33:41 It's a playmaking defense. But Nick Wright, who was a fan of Caleb, you know, I think he had the Bears last year or this year in the Super Bowl, I think, on the idea that everything with Caleb and Caleb, he's fine. Caleb Williams being just fine is a disaster. And I would have eliminated that as going into last year. I would have said that the only chance Caleb Williams is not, at the very least, very good, is catastrophic injury. He is a year and a half in, still shaky at what should be the easiest stuff. And that is concerning.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Yeah, I mean, it's we all, you know, the other thing is when you watch Jaden Daniels last year as a rookie chop it up and you watch Drake May or Bo Nix, there's a comp. I mean, you're looking at people to the same age. So, you know, and a lot of it's where you land. Like Bo Nix, it's an advantage getting Sean Payton. Patrick Mahomes gets, you know, Andy Reid. By the way, Josh Allen, the bills made the playoffs the year before he got there. Sean McDermott's more than capable. Lamar Jackson got, I don't think it's a coincidence,
Starting point is 00:34:58 Lamar Jackson got the Ravens infrastructure. The Bears don't have any of that. We think Ben Johnson's really good, but the ownership's weak, the front office is, eh. So, you know, Caleb did not inherit Andy Reed and I think there's a real, a linear line. There's a real line here between where you land
Starting point is 00:35:16 and how well you do. I like Kyler Murray. Who would be great in Arizona? You know what I mean? like, so like almost everybody would work if the Rams drafted you or Kansas City drafts you. I think it's, I mean, I think it's very difficult to be good in Chicago at quarterback. Ownership front office, it's not ideal. It's one of the poorer ownership groups.
Starting point is 00:35:39 Not to mention it's Chicago, a lot of cold weather games, windy and cold. So that adds to it. But overall, I don't think everything's fine. And if it is, that's not where you want to be, you know, 20-some games into your career. So watching that, we just had Derek Jeter on, there's a line from the office, and I don't know exactly what it is, but it's like it's too bad. People don't know they're in the good old days until they're out of the good old days. It's kind of a classic line from the office. And what we are watching in baseball right now, the quality of talent,
Starting point is 00:36:20 it's never been like this. So first of all, NBA is very global. soccer is very global. Football is very domestic to this point. But I mean, O'Tani and Yoshi, I mean, Yoshi is throwing games, his last two starts, complete games, unhittable. And what O'Tonnie is doing, I've always wondered, will the NFL ever become more international? You know, football everywhere else but here is a different sport. But it's just, I'm so glad that O'Tani ended up going. He was considering, I don't know if he considered the Yankees. He considered the Blue Jays, Toronto, International City. He considered Los Angeles. And Los Angeles was a better fit because he was with the Angels. But it's just incredible. I always thought like the best team athlete I ever saw was Michael Jordan in terms of he was the best score.
Starting point is 00:37:15 He was the most relentless. He was the most clutch. He was a great on-ball defender. He didn't elevate necessarily every teammate like LeBron does. but Michael was the best team athlete. When you consider the pitching, I think Otani is the greatest team sport athlete in the history of America.
Starting point is 00:37:32 It's just insane. Just being a great pitcher. It's just Derek Jeter on Otani earlier. He's arguably the best offensive player in baseball, along with Aaron Judge and everyone's seeing Vladimir Guerrero. So you can make a case, for him being the best offensive player. And pitching-wise, I mean, what he's been able to do,
Starting point is 00:38:00 if you just take away everything offensively, you know, he could be the best pitcher in the game. It's like he's the six-foot-two little-leager that's 12 years old that absolutely dominates in Little League, and he's doing it at the Major League level. Yeah, and pitching is so, as Derek Jeter pointed out, you've got to take four days off after you pitch. It's mentally and physically exhausting.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Here's Dave Roberts. Here's his locker room speech after the 18 inning win. We're going to need every single buddy. This is just not rhetoric. This is just not talk. Tonight proved that we're going to eat every single person on this roster to help us win a baseball game. Those guys gave everything they had tonight to beat us.
Starting point is 00:38:47 And none of us wavered, quit. We continue to fight. That's who we are. Hey, we got a game letter tonight. I'm starting with you was on base nine times. That's right. Hey, leave it all out there.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Be ready to go tomorrow. There's no letter. You don't see a lot of baseball locker room speeches. I didn't even know they had them. That's pretty good. No, it's, here's the line, by the way. I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you actually left them.
Starting point is 00:39:19 We are in the good old days of baseball. I mean, what guys can do now, because it's a global sport, You get these international players. I mean, just look at the Dodgers roster right now. I mean, it's just incredible how good it is. You're watching, this is the most talented baseball team of all time. By far, multiple guys throwing 100 miles an hour, international stars, power hitters. It's just, you know, Tommy Edmund is classic.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So he was a, I think he won a gold glove in St. Louis. And he was like a 260, 265 hitter in St. Louis. and you bring him to the Dodgers and you surround him with these great players. Tommy Edmunds last night. He, once again, Tommy Edmund makes a great defensive play. Like he would be a high-end player on any team. Like that play right now, we're showing you on TV. That is a great Major League Baseball World Series play.
Starting point is 00:40:13 I mean, Teoska Hernandez gets lost in this lineup. Remember last year they went to New York, the Dodgers did? Teoska Hernandez, like, own the series. Teoscar Hernandez is the star on many teams in this sport. Tommy Edmund's the best defensive player on most teams in Major League Baseball. I mean, the idea these guys with the Dodgers, they get overshadowed. The talent's insane. And Freddie Freeman, he's almost better in the postseason than he is in the regular season, Jeter, earlier on him.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Approaching every game like it's a regular season game. You know, you have to pride yourself on consistency. And it's not like you show up in a world series. series of games say oh my goodness all of a sudden now I'm playing in the world series let me try to do more you know freddie's an unbelievable hitter you know and and uh I guess the best thing I can say about freddie is I'm more surprised when he doesn't come through as opposed of when he does because you've seen him do it so much over and over and over regular season postseason it doesn't matter between the Braves and the Dodgers I mean
Starting point is 00:41:20 it feels like, and then that wild series against the Padres, I feel like I've seen every Freddie Freeman postseason at bat. It feels like they've all been big. You know, it's not like he ever, you know, between the Braves, because when he was with the Braves, he was in so many big games, and now he's with the Dodgers, and they're all big games. I mean, Freddie Freeman has really become a household name. Obviously, he's helped the Dodgers,
Starting point is 00:41:46 but the Dodgers have helped make him. I mean, the Braves are a massive, franchise, but they feel more regional in about a six-state southern footprint. It's just Freddie Freeman has become, he has got a Jeter quality. He feels like a better player in the playoffs, and he's a Hall of Fame player in the regular season as well. That is really rare. Blue Jays, Dodger Stadium tonight, game four.
Starting point is 00:42:14 We're all rooting for nine innings. It's a hurt. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:42:24 We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We get to ask other people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey.
Starting point is 00:42:55 And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Starting point is 00:43:13 Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got it. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry. You just understood.
Starting point is 00:43:36 That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come in, he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Diana Maria Riva, and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be?
