This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clivert Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career
in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not
only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
So let's get to it.
Listen to The Clifford show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 is big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild.
I mean, it was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Now let's get this party started.
listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Well, I've known him a long time, Steve Kime, former NFL general manager of the Arizona
Cardinals for 10 years.
They made the playoffs three times.
Drafted many people you know of.
Buda Baker in the second round.
Kyler Murray number one, Tyron Matthew, Patrick Peterson, Kaleas Campbell, who's now
going to be in Atlanta Falcon.
Did you view the draft?
Was it fun?
Was it anxiety driving?
Like, how did you view it?
It was all the above, Colin.
it was exciting and really where my lifeblood started with, you know, being a scout as a young
man and growing through the business. So you always feel like that the NFL draft is the only way
you can have sustainable success at the NFL level. Yet at the same time, nobody wants to feel
like they're building through the draft or in a position where they're trying to fix the future.
You want to win right now. And that's the only thing you can expect as a fan as much money
as you're paying for tickets and things as that nature. Listen, it is, you know, I've said this, Steve,
It's a little like international soccer.
So 10 years ago in the NFL, maybe 12, 15, that you could have a run game and a defense and win a Super Bowl.
It's just not the way it is.
Because of safety, the league is pivoted to offense and quarterback is everything.
And our quarterbacks are now paid like Rinaldo and Messi and deservedly so.
The downside to that is that when you pay somebody that kind of money, it can change people.
I think Aaron Rogers has not been quite as committed.
Kiler Murray, some have had concerns that money changes all sorts of people, not just athletes.
And so you got into a situation.
It was a tough situation that, you know, I guess the question for Arizona now is,
you're into that contract.
He's a very, very good player.
Do you think Arizona is Kyler going to come back motivated?
Because there are people that I talk to around the league.
They don't know if they'll ever get the good Kyler back.
How do you feel about that today?
You know, Colin, I think maybe that I am a little bit of a hypocrite in terms of feeling
strong about what Kyla can do moving forward.
And I think in most situations, you would never want your star player to have an injury
that is of that magnitude.
Yet in this situation, I don't think there is a real, real huge problem in terms of the
guy's going to be in the building every day rehabbing.
He's getting to know the people in the building that are working with him in the training room, the coaches.
Sometimes that from a trust standpoint can do a lot of different things.
And in this situation, again, I don't think the fact that he's going to have to spend a lot of time in there,
getting to know the support staff and his teammates even better is a bad thing.
Yeah.
So when you look at this draft, for instance, I don't personally love the quarterback class,
but there is talent.
Will Levis has a huge arm.
the knee Richardson's a great athlete.
Bryce Young to me feels the most refined.
Yes.
But the size thing,
would,
I mean,
Carolina gave up a lot.
Did they give up too much?
The word is they're going to take Bryce.
Are you,
were you comfortable with how much they gave up to potentially get a non-prototype
athlete at number one?
Well,
again,
the beauty in the eye to beholder column.
And the biggest thing about that situation,
for me is if you feel that strongly about the player go get them, particularly at a position
where supply and demand is such a huge issue. And as I've watched these quarterbacks, to me,
this guy's got some special attributes. Again, the size is a concern. But when we did our analytic
research in Arizona, there was nothing that could tell you that you could forecast injuries
from a smaller quarterback to a bigger quarterback. Because generally, those guys have the ability
and the instinct to whether it's slide, to stay out of trouble, or to be able to get out of the
pocket and use their legs where usually the statue tall,
projectional NFL quarterback is not as mobile, obviously.
So, you know, there are a lot of things.
And the biggest thing with him that is a little different for me than most of the
smaller athletic quarterbacks is his ability to process and see things.
He plays so instinctive, which, again, are things you're hoping most of those athletic
quarterbacks grow into.
Whereas I think those things are an instinctual thing, and he has it.
So when the story came out on C.J. Stroud, who scored low on an S2 test,
which is sort of a, can you pick up stuff quickly?
It's not an IQ, it's not a wonderling.
Are you caught?
And that, by the way, that's a skill for quarterbacks,
which I think Mahomes is the best I've ever seen.
And Bryce Young, that's the one thing he has in common with Mahomes.
He sees it and sees the field brilliantly.
Would you have already known it by the time the story came out yesterday?
Or is that like groundbreaking?
And are people get, when the story comes out on him and a lower score,
do you think that's known in the league or has caught everybody off guard?
No, I think it's known in a league, Kyle.
And obviously, to some degree, as an old school scout,
I think that that's private information that the team should know,
not necessarily the fans.
I know the more access to the NFL draft,
the more popular it is for our leagues.
But there are some things, whether it's all-field concerns,
or whether it's some things that a guy can do or can't do in the classroom,
doesn't necessarily make him a worse prospect.
You know what I mean?
Sure.
Just like my first year in Arizona,
when we drafted Tyron Matthew, I knew I was going to take a lot of heat for that pick.
That pick now has come out to look like one of the best picks in my career.
So, again, the fair weather fans and the people who are armchair GMs, you can't get caught
up in that process during the draft.
You have to have used tunnel vision and feel strongly about your instincts.
Don't get me wrong, though, when that information comes out or a team understands that
information to be correct, at this time of year where we generally overthink things, that is
a concern.
I think Jalen Carter's the best overall football player.
I should say the most dominant I saw in any situation.
I think Will Anderson's very good, but I don't think he's a Bosa or maybe a Chase Young,
but he's very good.
I thought Carter was, I mean, Part Fletcher Cox, Aaron Donald, just completely utterly disruptive.
But there's the stuff.
And there's the, there's.
So how do you weigh that he's not a quarterback.
He's not a face of the franchise, Steve.
he is a bit of a unicorn physically.
There's not a lot of Jalen Carter's.
I mean, there's seven or eight good edge rushers in this draft.
There is one Jalen Carter.
How do you weigh that?
Do you go to the owner?
Do you have to ask, I mean, how do you weigh that?
Do you go to the coach and say we got red flags?
How's that decision on a guy like Carter?
We obviously have to go through all of that information with ownership,
and they have to be okay with it for the check that they're going to have to write.
You have to talk to the head coach about it because he's got to be okay coach
the player and be excited about him. But more than anything, Colin, I think there's two questions
as a GM you have to ask yourself, which is, is he a bad kid who just made a mistake and how much
does he love the game? Because loving the game to me is a deterrent to not make future mistakes
in the NFL. Whereas Tyron Matthew was a great kid, got to know him, loved his infectious personality,
had a great smile. So he wasn't a kid to me that failed so many drug tests at college. He was a kid
that just grew up in a certain culture, and that's the way he saw things. That's not the way
NFL GMs have to think. You have to think, what is going to keep Tyron Matthew out of trouble?
It's because he loved ball. He either loves ball enough or he's going back to the projects.
Yeah, yeah. The, um, when you, I want to talk, get off the draft. So the Aaron Rogers thing with
Green Bay and the Jets, listen, Aaron's telling people I'm going to the Jets. It comes down to what we
think is the Packers are saying, we'll take a two this year, but we're demanding a one regardless
of what Aaron does. And the Jets are saying if he retires, we're not giving you a two and a
one, let's say you're an agent here.
Who's more realistic?
The Jets are the Packers here?
The Packers.
In my opinion, if you're the New York Jets, number one, you don't have the leverage other
than the fact that the player wants to play for your organization, which may come into
some help, whether it's contractually or just the fact that he's motivated to want to play
for you.
But the standpoint of the team signed that contract with him, so both sides committed to
this relationship.
And again, it's the team's rights.
And if there's anything else, I mean, you're Joe Douglas and you're in New York.
You want to make a splash.
It's a point in time to get your team over the hump.
And what does that?
I don't care if it's for a year or three.
To me, it's Aaron Rogers.
Finally, what is the easiest position, Steve, to assess that your hit rate was highest on?
And what is the position that you would acknowledge that is,
you're sweating, you're crossing fingers before you get to the first camp.
Are there positions, or maybe there's not, are there positions that are easier that you always felt good with?
Well, I don't think there's any question that, even though I felt like I had a pretty good feel for quarterbacks,
that is obviously the most important position to get right.
But at the same time, when you look at analytics and you look at past drafts,
you can really point to the running back position because of the traits that those guys have to have that are so easy to see.
There are some things that you don't see, and there guys have been some guys that have missed.
I would say a lot of those guys probably missed because of injuries.
Yes.
But at the same time, at the same time, analytics showed us that the best NFL running backs were picked from rounds three to five generally.
Guys like Frank Gordes down the line, guys like priest homes that were undrafted.
Guys who had tremendous success that you didn't have to pay a high price for.
Yeah, isn't that interesting?
Okay, so Rob Stone, Jay Glazer, LeVar Arrington, Steve Kime, next Thursday, Fox Sports Radio.
round of the draft, eight Eastern.
I got to sit in a draft room once with the Chargers.
I thought it was exhilarating.
It was the most fun I've ever had in sports in my life.
Will you, will you miss that?
Do you miss that?
What was draft day like for you?
What was it like?
The owners there, you're there, the scouts are there.
What was it like?
Yeah.
When the clock's running down and you have to anticipate who's going to be there where you
pick, to me, there's nothing that you can compare to walking out of a stadium
as a player and feeling that energy to beginning of a game.
There's so much excitement and anticipation that it really is your game for an NFL draft.
I also missed, you know, experiences, Colin.
I have a funny story for you when Cliff Kingsbury and I got together, you know,
to go to see players and have dinners.
We went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and had dinner with Nick Bosa before, prior to the draft.
And loved him, obviously.
Our highest graded guy on the board, amazing in every way.
the only thing you had to even say was a negative was probably if he got injured in the future,
which you couldn't forecast.
So we were leaving the dinner, and we're walking out of Maestro's in Fort Lauderdale.
And I'll never forget, he puts his arm around me and Cliff Kingsbury, both of us,
in basically a headlock.
And he said, I think you guys are probably going to end up taking that little quarterback.
And if you do, and if you do, he looked over me, said, Steve, I will haunt you for the rest of your career.
I love that.
And, at college, we got into the SUV, Cliff and I did to go back to the hotel.
And I remember we both looked at each other with wide eyes and said, man, I just said to Cliff.
I said, God hope he can't catch him.
And he really never did, which was a good thing.
Steve, good luck to you.
Can't wait to listen to you Fox Sports Radio next Thursday with the guys, Jay Glazer, LeVar, Errington, Rob Stone.
Good crew.
Good seeing you again.
Hey, dinner next week, it's Think 44.
Let's do it.
All right, man.
All right.
Steve Kime, good guy.
Yeah, I've had dinner a couple of times.
Steve will tell you stories about the NFL, the draft, and the personnel stuff.
It's all really, really fascinating.
I guess he said running backs the easiest to pick.
Do you see where he said the best running backs in the NFL come from rounds three to five?
Isn't that fascinating?
I bet you no other position in the league the best players come three to five.
Should go grab Bijon Robinson 10 then.
Joel Clatt.
It's a dig.
I can like a guy and not want to draft him, Tim.
Obviously.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that.
sentence.
I don't think there's a more important
year for black people. Really?
Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years
for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart
Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

J-Mac with a news.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
What do you think happens if Nick Bosa
puts you in a headlock? It's over.
It's over. Choke you out instantly, right?
No, I would flip him over the turnbuckle.
He just suplex him right to the cement, right?
Let's start with the Toronto Raptors.
They fired, well, sorry, parted ways.
That's the new politically correct term.
Parted Ways with head coach Nick Nurse.
He had been with the team for the last five years.
They got their only title in 2019.
A bit of a lucky title.
The Kauai shot against the Sixers in Game 7.
Also, the Warriors fell apart.
Sorry Raptors fans.
That's a reality.
No, the Warriors literally physically fell apart.
The whole team fell apart.
Yeah.
But they have a title.
So enjoy it.
Now he's going to be a top candidate, apparently for the Rockets job.
You think he's going to be clamoring for James Hart?
Well, you're going to have.
It's a fun job because you've got a bunch of young kids.
Oh, really?
That's fun.
That's like herding cats.
Have you heard about some of the rumors in that locker room?
Have you heard about it?
You haven't heard this?
No, what are they doing?
It's crazy kids.
I mean, well, Houston is a nightclub party town.
Yeah.
So if you have a bunch of kids, it's like Miami.
Miami's a nightclub party town.
Nobody goes to bed in Miami.
And so it's like it's harder.
There's an old thing in the NFL.
Port cities.
Miami, New York, the Bay Area, New Orleans.
Port cities, stay up longer, more restaurants.
Houston is known for strip clubs.
And they like to party and get after it in Houston.
The athletes do.
That's very well known out there.
No, it's a party city.
Yeah.
My guess is Nick Nurse ain't taking that job.
That's my guess.
Now, if he can guarantee Hardin and some grownups,
their entire starting lineup was like 2300.
I know, no, no, it was kids.
They got some talent, but it was just...
It was like an old college team.
You're 22-year-olds.
Yeah, imagine if I was like 22 and you had to wrangle me all the time.
That would never work.
You're 40 in your heart.
I'm a mature, grown man.
I can handle stuff like this.
I don't know.
Is that a Raptors?
Is that a good job, the Raptors?
They got the Fred Van Vleet stuff.
Not right now.
Not right now.
Yeah.
cultural mecca if you will
when I shut down this career
I'm going to go spend a lot of time
in very international
cities I've made my life
Florida? I know Florida's not a city that's a joke
backgammon
All right it is the power hour
So let's go to the next story
Patrick Mahomes got that extension
Since then other quarterbacks have signed
deals with higher
average annual values than Mahomes
GM Brett Veach says the team
will eventually have to revisit Mahomes' deal.
We have a special relationship with him and his agent,
and we're in constant communication, as you mentioned, Pete.
I mean, it's one of those things,
and I think Coach hinted on this his last press conference
where as soon as one guy gets done,
it's kind of the blueprint and the model,
and two years later it's jumped and exceeded.
And so, but, you know, I think that this organization
and the relationship we have with Pat will always be working
to make sure that we're doing right by everybody,
and, you know, there'll be a couple more contracts that still have to get done,
you know, Burrow and Herbert.
And once they do, I think, kind of look at everything and assess where you are and what you can do
and take it from there.
Smart guy.
Between Veach, Reed and Mahomes.
Got a lot of brainpower.
You feel confident if you're a cheese fan.
You got nothing to worry about.
And the Hunt family.
You never had a quarterback with the Bengals.
Now he's got Joe Burrow.
He's got nothing to worry about it.
He's just walking around here, happy as a clam.
We've got Burrow.
We've got Burrow.
We've got.
The Hunt family's been top five ownership group forever.
And here I am dealing with being a Jets fan
where they shuttle in the GM and the coach every two years.
It's unfair.
I mean, if you look at it.
A good owner.
Never had a franchise quarterback.
Sorry, Sanchez.
He was close, but it was just disappointing.
Sorry to put a pall over the power hour there with Jets talk.
But final story, the Birmingham Stallions.
They'll have to defend their title without their starting QB.
Jamar Smith injured his ring finger on his non-throwing hand in week one.
He will be out for the rest of the year.
What?
Alex Magoo will take over the starting job.
Ring finger on the non-throwing hand?
Yeah.
Well, I don't understand that.
I guess when you're taking snaps, it might be tough with a big cast on your finger.
I don't know.
I don't guess.
Non-throwing hand.
Yeah.
I mean, like, did he sever it or ripped up or?
Unclear what the injury is.
What a bummer.
Question.
If my men's league basketball team wins the title Sunday, can we get a spot in the hurdline news?
If you have a piece of video,
It's 15 seconds or less.
Well, we have to win.
You have to win.
I'm not showing video if we lose.
And I'm thinking about the third hour of Herdline News last story.
I think first hour for a story.
If we were underdog, the equivalent of, I saw Warriors are now seven and a half for game four.
What timeout?
Yeah.
Well, you like Kings last night.
That was a whiff.
I did.
Warriors are seven and a half-point favorites, game four.
I think I saw seven and a half.
I'm taking Sacramento all day long.
Even though Draymond Green is back?
No, I,
First of all, the zigzag theory, when you get beat up, a good team that gets humiliated or beat up plays their arse off the next game.
The one concern I haven't mentioned, I saved it for the final hour.
Sacramento Kings, I believe, are shooting 27% from three in the series.
I know.
That's a...
Davey and Mitchell is great off the bench as a defender.
They do need another shooter.
Yeah.
It's like, Trey Liles had a game where he hit four of six and Malik Monk went off.
Yeah.
They combined, they were like one for 15 last night.
No.
Like, it's a little trouble.
We were, the Warriors were in trouble.
They rebounded and looked good.
They didn't look great last night.
Oh, I thought they looked pretty good.
This was the lowest they shot from the field in a game all season and won.
But they're 40%.
They're rebounding, their hustle.
Yeah, Devinchenzo, Cumminga, the role players.
Devinchenzo, hair on fire.
He was everywhere.
Yeah.
If your game looked like that, I'd be more accommodating to your asks.
I know what your game looks like.
It's Jordan Poole.
Oh, no.
I don't not have Jordan Poole's handle. I will be
Devencenzo in the national championship game. Remember when he hit like six threes for
Villanova? At best, that's me.
Hey, can I, one quick note on the men's league? I know you don't care.
Nobody cares, actually.
A guy on our team just said, Jason, I've got terrible news.
We're having a baby shower Sunday. I've got it back out of the game.
And I honestly thought he was kidding. And then I said, are you joking? And he hasn't replied.
A baby shower. I'm putting you on the spot, buddy. A baby shower?
He's one of our good players
The baby doesn't remember
Did you go to your baby shower?
Any of them?
I didn't go to my wife's baby shower.
Come on.
I grounded my kids.
They still like me.
Like a baby shower?
I'm a little ticked.
John, come on.
Got to be there.
You got that.
Championship game!
They won the four straight titles.
I'm on your side on this.
All right.
J-Mac with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lide News.
What is a baby shower?
I mean, you know, I know showering a baby, but a baby shower is presents or something?
The wife is pregnant and all the friends come over and, you know, do some stuff.
Oh, thank God, I didn't go to those.
That's my worst nightmare.
I didn't. Never. I don't think I've ever been to one.

on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the look back at it
podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it, including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but yeah, yeah, literally. But just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see
there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. So.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right, Jason McIntyre used to be a newspaper man, a veteran journalist.
He kicked that career to the curb and became a gambling analyst and the herdline news guy for this show.
show, but he knows all about headlines.
So we've been doing this now for about four or five years.
It's her final segment on Friday where he projects and predicts what's going to happen.
So our topic this week is the draft.
It's very saucy.
I'm very excited for this.
So here we go.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's going to be the headline for the first overall pick in the draft?
So the last time I mentioned the first pick, I had Anthony Richardson about a month ago.
Clearly, that was a little inaccurate.
The headline will be Bryce, Bryce Baby.
Young Star collaborates with Carolina.
I don't know about that photo of Bryce Young.
But the gambling markets have been here for about a week now.
Bryce Young's going to be the guy.
He will go to Carolina.
We'll see how it works out.
Listen, you're a little more bullish on him than I am.
I think it's a tough, just a tough situation for like a 5-10,
195-pound quarterback to go in.
He looks small in this video in college.
I'll never.
get over Sean Payton sitting here telling us about size mattering at quarterback, especially at the top
of the draft. It's one thing to get Russ in the third round and Drew Brees excelling, I think he was
a second round pick. And he was on his second team when he fit in. Good luck to Bryce Young,
but he's going first overall. All right. Tomorrow's headlines today. What about the Texans,
new coach, D'Amico Ryan's. What's the headline for the number two pick?
A lot of drama swirling here. There's a lot of Stroud chatter. Can they trade? What's going to happen?
this may be the headline will be what a quarter. Texans add extra beef to the menu. I've got
Jaylon Carter here. Listen, I wrote about this for Fox Sports.com. He was plus 4,000 to go second this
week. Everybody had him dropping, as did I earlier. You know, he had that bad workout way to stop it
early, it gained some weight. I think my gut tells me, D'Amico Ryan says, this is a project
that I can take on. Demico Ryan's a new head coach. He's going to get time. There's no need to force a
quarterback here, right?
I know Davis Mills, people don't like him.
Case Keenom, I believe, is the backup to him.
They're not going to be great.
But, as you have pointed out a billion times, looming next year, are two really good
quarterbacks.
Build the infrastructure, just like San Francisco did, around the quarterback, then get
your guy.
I think Jill and Carter, who's been dominant at the college level for two years now,
goes number two.
Yeah.
Tomorrow's headlines today, keep your eye on the Colts.
They need a quarterback.
What's the headline for Indie?
So be very controversial if this happens.
Cowherd will have very strong feelings.
The headline will be quarter back and biceps.
Colts use willpower to workout deal.
Will Levis, four to the Colts.
There are a lot of reports coming out of Indy that the coaching staff prefers him to Anthony
Richardson.
Then the question becomes, do they prefer him to Stroud?
We shall see, I believe Levis with two years in an NFL system at Kentucky.
I know he didn't put up great numbers, but he was with former NFL offensive
coordinators, a lot of short passes, quick reads. He's got a big arm. He also tests like Bryce Young
very well on the S2 test. Yeah, and the short stuff, he can deliver that. Anthony Richardson can't
do that. He's just not ready for that. I do believe Will Levis could probably start from week one.
Now, I don't know how great they're going to be. The receiving core is shaky. But if you are
Will Levis and you go to Indy, you think there's a good chance. They end up getting DeAndre Hopkins
to add to that. Remember, quarterback on the rookie deal, you could spend some money.
That's right. Already got Pittman on the outside. It wouldn't hurt to kick the tires on
Andre Hopkins. I think he's really good.
You got the good running back. Jonathan Taylor?
Yeah, no, no.
I'm not saying you're going to win the division, but that division is kind of sort of out there.
Jacksonville's the team to beat, but I think the Colts can be something with Lovey.
Yeah. Shane Stike and the new Colts coach is a brilliant offensive guy.
Go ask Justin Herbert or Jalen Hertz.
Yeah.
He has, those guys will speak volumes of Shane Stuyken.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
Now, the Seahawks are fascinating.
This is the one I think they are in a great spot.
They can move down if they want.
They don't have a ton of needs.
What's the headline for the Hawks?
you get that trade, you know, this is from one of the trades they made.
They were not expecting to pick this high at number five.
The Seattle Seahawks will go.
The headline will be on Stroud nine.
Seahawks sky high on C.J.
Yeah.
I think this is as good of a fit in the top ten as you'll find.
CJ Stroud will not have to start this year, right?
All these questions about reading and decision making and what they were doing with him at Ohio State.
Yeah.
You know, he looked at the sideline.
They give him the play, and it's like Bing, Bing, Paint by numbers.
It's very easy.
Yeah.
He can sit behind.
behind Gino for a year. I think we agree that Gino Smith might have been a bit of a fluke.
Last year, I mean, nine years in the league and he was nothing special.
Yeah, I don't think this is a bad pick. I think he and Gino are similar and that they're big
strong guys who can deliver the ball accurately. Yeah. They're absolutely. And by the way,
Gino, because of his career arc, may be a great mentor for C.J. Stroud. Could be a great
mentor. That's a great point. And, you know, if Stroud is ushered in there, you got Metcalfe, you got
lock it, you got weapons. I know some Seahawks fans will say, no, no, no, no, we're a
contender. There's got to be a player here we can get. They have two first round picks,
two seconds and two fourths. And in the confidence you have in the franchise,
after last year's draft, I think you can take, you're not going to be drafting this high
again, right? No, this is it. No, I, this doesn't bother me as a pick. Okay,
how about the Patriots? Oh, boy, middle of the round, they don't like
Mack Jones, or they do tomorrow's headlines today. What say you on New England's
draft?
So the New England Patriots have not drafted receivers well.
Bill Belichick has really struggled.
Remember you put the list up?
It was like 12 guys.
It's embarrassing.
I mean, two of these guys are delivering DoorDash right now.
The headline will be lights camera Jackson.
Matt gets his new fancy flash.
Jackson Smith Najibuff from Ohio State.
I like it.
The Patriots, this would be a home run for Belichick.
They picked up Juju Smith in the off season.
Kids great.
Juju Smith-Schoo-Shooster.
they've got Bourne and Parker.
Who are...
They've got a bunch of twos and threes.
I think Jackson Smith and Jigba could be a one in New England.
And if you're Mack Jones, maybe this quickly men's defenses.
He brought in Will Levis this week.
You know, Mac Jones, what do you call him, McEnroe?
It's McEnroe Jones.
He's probably heated and not happy.
Well, this is going to make him happy.
Getting a good receiver who can get separation.
He can win on the outside, win in the slot.
This would be a great pick for the New England Patriots.
Yeah, boy, Ohio State has just become wide receiver you.
I mean, they're saying that Harrison kid next year is going to be the number one pick.
Well, no, Caleb won, Drake May, and then Harrison.
I mean, that's the top three in next year's draft.
That's how good.
Man, they, all right, finally, all these projections, give us a wild card.
Tomorrow's headlines today, the surprise pick in the draft.
Well, I don't know how surprising it is.
I've been hyping and I told you off air.
I know this guy was in the building yesterday, meeting with the GM for the second time.
The headline will be Achilles Hendon.
Vikings dig heels into Hooker.
Listen, the Vikings like him.
They do not have a second round pick.
Again, I'm not saying the coach in the front office doesn't love Kirk Cousins,
but we've seen how to build a franchise.
I like this pick.
You need a quarterback on the rookie deal.
Kirk Cousins making a lot of money.
He has one more year before they can get out.
Oh, certainly.
And this is a veteran.
There's a 25-year-old guy now, even if he sits for a year.
He had 37 starts in college, Colin.
This is this guy who can go in there and should be okay to run the offense.
And you've got, you know, one of the best receivers in the league.
You still, Dalvin Cook, very good.
I think they can regroup pretty quickly.
You know, remember this was a team for a few years.
It was like a contender in the NFC.
They could never really get over the home.
I like that pick.
You get that quarterback, and I believe next year, or 2024.
This year, you know, they'll be good, but 2024 would be the year to target.
quarterback on the rookie deal.
You get Kirk out of there.
A lot of cap space.
Plug some holes.
I am really interested to watch Hendon Hooker as a pro.
Yeah.
Dude, first of all, big, mature, big arm, and can wiggle a little.
I don't worry about his ACL injury.
He's a quarterback.
He's not a receiver.
Yeah.
I think he's a fascinating player.
I don't know what he's going to be, but boy, you watch him against Alabama.
It's like Marino.
That was incredible.
You lit them up.
And they have some pros in the secondary.
All right.
Jay Mack, I like that. That was a good job by you.
All right. We'll see you Monday. First things,
first around the corner. Live in L.A., it's The Herden.
Another podcast from some SNL,

Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
