Greg Jennings is a Super Bowl champ, a multiple pro bowler, 10 years in the league. All right, I thought Jalen Hertz was pretty special. I think he's a little bigger than people think he is when you watch him run and takes hits. He can knock a guy over.

Do you have any doubts or concerns about his injuries, his size? What do you make of him going forward? Would you pay him now? I would pay him right now. I've seen everything that I didn't expect to honestly see in that Super Bowl loss yesterday. For me, the expectation of Jalen Hertz was to establish the run and be good in the passing game. Well, he was great in the passing game. He was greater in the passing game than what his team.

was in the running game, which is why, and I heard you talk about it, they were even in this game and they had an opportunity to win this game. And that is on a shoulder that we saw towards the end of that in that Hell Mary throw that was really bothering him and limiting what he was able to do. So I loved everything that I saw of Jaylen Hurts last night. As an offensive player, I was just struck by those two red zone touchdowns by the cheese. and how they manipulated a corner, go back to the best offensive coach of your life. Like to me, as a fan, I look at that and go, okay, everybody, that's what coaching looks like

when you see a tendency. I mean, those were, you can't get that open in the red zone. It's virtually impossible. What did you make of those plays? Well, number one, I love the plays, but I think more what's really being overlooked is their ability to run that play twice with two different players because of the type of personnel that's on this roster. Like you got Cadarius Tony, you got Sky Moore.

Two guys that have run jet sweeps can beat you with the ball in their hands immediately, who knows what they need to get done, who are interchangeable. And so when you see it from a guy like Cadarius Tony, it's like, oh, he's the guy, gadget guy. You see him going motion, you automatically think, okay, something's up.

and then you see it with another guy. They both are guys that they've used in jet sweep opportunities and handed the ball off. So you've got to honor it. You got to respect it. A little formation variation and it turns into two touchdowns. That's just, that's football one-on-one. If it works, you don't have to throw it out. Okay, we've used it.

No, you retool it and you reframe how it looks to a defense. And they did exactly that. That's why Andy Reed is the best coaching football right now today. Yeah. So the past interference call, I generally think in playoff games, NBA, or NFL, the longer you go, the further you go in the playoffs, don't tic-tack me. Like, I do understand in the preseason a lot of times, the NFL will call something, Greg, and they'll call it a point of emphasis. You know, they'll over-call something in the preseason or September. They want everybody to see.

We're not allowing it. By the end of the season, listen, we're going to let you play. And I didn't initially love the PI call until I saw the video of a grab out of the break. And my takeaway is, well, that's when a receiver separates. That break is the, that's why they grab you. So I didn't have a problem with a call, did you? So I didn't have a problem with the call. And so there's a difference between pass interference and holding.

And if you are a receiver, you prefer. the pass interference because typically it's further down the field is going to give your offense more yardage. But in this case, it didn't matter. Holding or pass interference, it was going to give them an opportunity to run out the clock. My issue with this is it just robbed us of what we were all hoping to see. And then it's like it happens. If you look at it, it happens behind the line of scrimmage. And I'm like, yes, I understand you can hold and you get holding.

calls called behind the line of scrimmage. But a receiver in a DB, there's a window, a five-yard window where you can tussle and wrestle and do whatever you have to do to either impede that receivers, progression of getting forward and getting off that line of scrimmage, or you can do whatever you need to do from a receiver to negate him from impeding your progress. And I just felt like in that moment, let that just be combative, like back and forth. He was literally behind the line of scrimmage. Behind the line of scrimmage for the majority of his entire route.

And then, yes, he did get held. You make your case. You see, look at J. Mack shaking his head. Yes, Cowherd, you've got to listen to Jennings. So are you surprised at all that Tyreek Hill leaves, and it's actually a more productive offense? Did that surprise you? No, it actually doesn't surprise me. I think we were all shocked at the fact.

that they were able to still be as explosive. But as far as the production of that offense, you have Patrick Mahomes and you have a coordinator, BN and then a head coach, who's really your top coordinator and Andy Reed, who knows how to get his guys the ball. And it just showed us the importance of really listening to even what Patrick Mahomes said,

him trusting his guys. Travis Kelsey was their number one receiving option. Tyree Kill was their biggest playmaker, but Travis Kelsey has always been their number one receiving option, and he opens it up for everyone. You build around that. That is why you can get a guy who's speedy on the outside, who's gadgety get the ball in his hands, who can still run routes and put all these pieces together, another glorified receiver tied-in and Juju Smith-Schuster, and you have exactly what you need.

They all play smart. They all understand their role, and they're going to be best used in the best positions in their roles that they play. Okay, finally, Aaron Rogers starts this four-day darkness retreat. For one, I wish him the best. I like meditation. I think it would irritate me if I was the GM and I want some closure on what you're going to do. What do you make of it? Yeah, I'm on that end of it.

Like, the Green Bay Packers are waiting. They're waiting. While everybody else is making decisions and trying to figure out their future and moving forward, they're in a holding pattern once again. And rightfully so, because he's their best player, he's their best option that quarterback right now that they believe. But if I am Aaron Rogers, if I'm even the Green Bay Packers, I just say, you know what, I had a great career here. Obviously, he wants to end his career there. Or I shouldn't say obviously.

He's spoken that he's wanted to end his career as a Green Bay Packer. But you have Jordan Love. You got to see what the future holds. And if there was any season to just rip the Band-Aid off, it's now. Because you took a blow that you didn't think you were going to take this season. You took a step back. You didn't make the postseason. Just rip the Band-Aid off and move forward.

I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah.

You know, when Jennings was talking about the flag and how it was behind the line of scrimmage, I was watching the video, Colin.

I didn't even realize this. The ref at the line of scrimmage did not throw the flag. It came from the guy of the end zone. The guy from the end zone 20 yards away. I think he saw it because he saw the gap. But the guy right there didn't see it? And then he, you know, the ball was not catchable. We didn't even talk about that aspect of it.

It was uncatchable. Over the head. There's no way. It was a throwaway. Yeah, well, holding is different than pass interference. This was, yeah, before the pass was thrown, there was holding, defensive holding. But the referee didn't throw the flag until seconds after that. It's just, you don't want to get conspiracy theorists.

I'm not going there. Yeah. It's not a bad call. I don't know if you're ever going to recover from this. I'm concerned about you. So the Chiefs got the dub, and according to Fox bet, they are the early favorite shocker to win the Super Bowl next season. Casey currently, best odds at plus 500.

Follow up with the bills, Niners, Eagles, Bengals, Cowboys. Cowboys? Silly. Say it again. Time out. Say it again? Kansas City, plus 500. We got the bills, the Niners, the Eagles. They're going to be worse. Because they know there's Cowboys fans out there who are going to be, Oh, come on.

Come on. Cowboys. I put the money down on Dallas. Jaguars, Chargers, I'd take in a second over now. By the way, if we did this last year after the Super Bowl, the Eagles would not have been top six. Somebody will emerge. Well, I think you and I, even though I have friends in the Chargers building, I've been very reluctant to embrace them.

This is the first time with Kellyn Moore. I think the Chargers are going to be in the Super Bowl bubble to start the year. So the only problem with that is you have the gone. of Borough, Allen, and Mahomes. Like, what if you have to beat three of those guys to get to the sooner? Raiders could very well be a mess. Let's wait on Sean Payton. Maybe you get lucky and you get an opener with them.

But I think the better value would be find an NFC team that you think will pop. The NFC road is much easier. No, that's a good point. You know, you only have to go through the Niners. We don't know their quarterback situation. What if Seattle, like, landed Garoppolo? Stop. Come on. You don't.

Where's Gino Smith going? What are you talking about? No, Vikings was a good call by you last year, right? They just melted down. How about this? Aaron comes back. Green Bay gets the tight end and the edge rush. That makes sense.

Yeah, I would put Green Bay in that. Now, if you want to get real hot takey, Detroit Lions, how spicy are they? With Jared Goff, they can ante up in free agency. They've got a top six pick, I think. Got to fix that defense. And they got a bunch of draft picks. So they got draft capital. And I don't know what their cap space situation is, but they have a great O line.

I like their running backs. They have a new edge rusher. I buy coaches now, right? I think you and I both agree. Andy Reid was unbelievable. Brian Daibel was tremendous. That's one of the great. Shannon was tremendous.

You could argue. Ben Johnson. Two of the greatest Super Bowl performances ever by a coach are by Andy last night and Doug Peterson from the Andy Reed tree a few years ago. Those are two of the all-time great offensive Super Bowl performances, where they fooled Belichick and fooled the Eagles. defense. I mean, literally fooled them. Let's see what happens with these retirements.

And he's out retired. But Philadelphia could be back here next year, right? I think the favorites have to be Philly and the Niners. Oh, absolutely. They're not going anywhere, short of a massive quarterback injuries. Next up, Justin Fields. That was funny during the break, of course, I said Justin Fields to you. I'll mention why.

But with the first overall pick, Chicago, you know, they could trade it. They could draft a rookie quarterback. Justin Fields spoke with Rich Eisen about the potential of the Bears moving on from him. He said he hopes to be kept in the loop about the team's decision. Everybody would love honesty in the process. So I would definitely like to know that. And it's a business, so I totally understand. No hard feelings.

But like I said, I control what I can control and control my work ethic, control how I carry myself each and every day. Well, they'll probably, if they want, get Will Anderson the edge rusher. It's a need. And they have a defensive coach, so you know he's lobbying potentially for that. Their tackles aren't as bad as I think. They have capable running backs, capable tight end.

They need another receiver and to clean up the O line in the middle. But this year, there's no more excuses. Because if they can, and they have cap space. So let's say they went out right now. They have Mooney Claypool, Cole, Colquemette. So you go pay. for a really good number two receiver. Do you go get it?

Go pay for a one. Absolutely. He's going to be trade-baked. You know what I like, though? If you go pay for DeAndre Hopkins, that's a good call. It will clarify if Justin Field is the guy. Because if you have him, Darnell.

Yeah, Mooney, he's okay. No, he's a good solid two-three. Then you get Claypool. Then you have come at in good backs. And you throw D-Hop into that. Then I'll have clarity on. If you can't move the sticks with that, Then we don't have the right quarterback.

But here's the thing, and this, I think we'll be talking about this in the coming weeks. So Fields has had two years. Bears are not going to be picking number one again, right? They're not that bad. Do you just reset the quarterback spot and trade fields? There's a market for Justin Fields. He's on his rookie deal. If Caleb Williams or.

No, no, no, no. Drake May was available, absolutely. So you would not take Price Young. No, no. C.J. Stroud. No, none of these guys. No, no. Now, next year, I take the top two quarterbacks.

I would absolutely consider that. In fact, I would do that if I could. Because I think those guys are generational. Those guys are, you know. Yeah, the only thought is if you can reset the quarterback clock that all of a sudden starts over and you can move fields, what could you get for Justin Fields? Would you get a two and a four?

Oh, absolutely. I don't think you're getting a one. A two and a four? Oh, I think somebody would give you a one. For Justin Fields, that kid's, a big, strong athlete, and also what his agent can say is, look at the O-line. Look at this organization. Look at the front office.

They can't even draft offense. So you could, if I'm his agent, I'm like, go watch the film. This kid's running for his life. You give him the right coaching? Tell me, why can't he get on the Jalen Hertz track? If Justin Fields is running, he is super dangerous. I don't know if the touch is there with the past. Well, also, the GM for the Eagles is great.

the coach is offensive. The ownership is amazing. Eagles got a lot of things going for him that Chicago doesn't. I'm trying to think of a team that would make a move. Frank Reich. Atlanta. Frank Reich and Carolina?

Isn't Justin Fields from Georgia? I think they like Ritter a little bit. Oh, give me a break. Give me a break. If I'm Atlanta and Justin, I get Justin Fields. He's the best quarterback talent division. But you have to give up your first round pay. Who gives a rip?

It's quarterback. Wow. I'm Atlanta. I didn't he from Georgia? I'd do it in one second. in that division, he'd easily be the best quarterback talent. Now, if Derek Carr comes, then they're both very capable. Bears are interesting with the number one pick.

I think we'll be talking about that a lot. Your point, you can reset the clock. There's something there. It's something there. But I also think they need an edge rusher because they gave them up. Yeah, they need a ton. Final story, the Mavs. I was getting texts about, because I said I'm rooting for the Mavs.

My friends are like, don't do it, don't do it. The Mavs had Luca and Kairie on the court together for the first time. Saturday night. 55 points combined. But the Kings, my Sacramento Kings, still got the overtime win. Despite the loss, Lucas said after the game, it was really fun playing with Kyrie Irving. The honeymoon is great. Everybody has an awesome honeymoon, right?

Do you remember yours? Yeah, of course. It's a great honeymoon. When does that end? I'm still living it. Still living it. Great wife. Three months in?

So, by the way, 133-128. So you do acknowledge that Luca and Kyrie gave up 133 points. Nobody played defense. Apparently, this is an all-star game. Nobody plays defense in the NBA. And also, the Sacramento Kings are no joke. Boston does. Milwaukee does. Cleveland does.

A lot of people play defense. Just not that group. By the way, how about the Sacramento Kings? Can we do a segment on them? No, ever. Ever? Not one ever. And I like their story.

This team is fun. Like the beam, baby. You don't even know what that means. I don't even know what that means. You're missing out. They are an exciting young team, the most exciting Kings team since Jason Williams, White Chocolate, and Chris Weber. And those guys, that was exciting.

You know, Sacramento is a state capital of California. You know, you'll learn something new every day. Should we go do the show from there when the Kings are hosting the Western Conference Finals? All right. Gridiron grade Super Bowl edition. A lot of facets to this one. Let's give out grades J-MAC, Super Bowl edition, pass-failing, ABCD-F. Here we go. You are a notoriously generous grader. I wish you had a teacher in 11th grade. I could have you.

I have a substitute teacher feel. You do kind of have that. I kind of give people a little benefit of the doubt. Guys start goofing off as soon as you show up to class. class. All right, here we go. What grade would you give the Chiefs run game? Pacheco had a good game, Mahomes, McKinnon in Super Bowl 57? Among my highest grade, A, first of all, Mahomes had his second most attempts and rushing yards of any game this season. So that is spectacular. And they outgained 6.1 yards of carry against this vaunted defense. So what it did, how many crucial like

first downs and chain movers did they have on run place? Remember? Remember, Kelsey started fast, kind of disappeared in the second half. So that run game in the second half provided them several openings to pass. All right. Let's go now to the Eagles run game, which was a bit of a disappointment, 115 total yards. Yeah, a B to a B minus outgain, 28 rushing yards in the second half. Now, I can't give it a C because Jalen Hertz is part of the run game, but I felt it was heavily weighted toward Jalen Hertz.

they've been the number one rush team in the playoffs. I said it last week, what Casey's defense did the Joe Burrow, let's just be honest now. This Casey defense at the end of the year is way better than people think. It wasn't great yesterday, but situationally in the second half, they did a good job to stop the run. Yeah, Bolton was everywhere. Let's go to Travis Kelsey, six catches, 81 yards and a touchdown.

Only six targets, but what's his grade? A B, he didn't do a ton in the second half. He was great throughout the playoffs, but he did lead the chiefs in receiving yards with 81, so it's a solid grade. He should be happy. But I think to some degree, I mean, Philadelphia did better than Cincinnati did against him. He still, what I find remarkable, it's not just the catch is how often he's wide open. That's coaching.

All right. A.J. Brown, I had a MVP ticket, caught the touchdown. apparently there's some reports he was unhappy with his target usage in the second half. Six catches, 96 yards. Yeah. B-plus, second half. Second half's the difference in Super Bowls. I mean, he had more receiving yards in the Super Bowl than the previous two playoff games combined.

So I think he's a little unhappy, but Devonte Smith to me and they're tight ends. Philadelphia's tight ends. It's a conveyor belt. They've always got like three guys, Goddard, just the latest. So I think if you play for the Eagles as a wide receiver, you have to come to terms with, you're much more productive. Jalen Hertz running in the tight ends. You're not going to be a 120 catch guy.

You're not going to do a Cooper Cup. It's just not part of the offense. All right, Devante Smith, good game receiving seven for 100 yards on nine targets. Quick kid. I like him. I like him a lot. A to A minus had a catch taken away. I thought it was a no catch, but many thought it was a catch.

He led the Eagles in targets. He led the Eagles in receptions. He led the Eagles in receiving yards. he had 54% of all the Eagles' catches in the playoffs. Wow. He has been really, really phenomenal. All right. Now, you've been gassing them up all day.

The Chief's defense, how do you grade them? Well, it's a C because the first half, they couldn't get off the field. But they only allowed 11 points in the second half, and they did have a couple of moments where situationally, they were pretty good. but I don't think this will be remembered as one of the great defensive Super Bowls in our time. All right. Now the Eagles defense. Oh, I thought it was terrible. I thought it was a D. I thought it was the only reason it looked good in the first half is because Mahomes wasn't on the field.

Mahomes had one incompletion in the entire second half and he threw it away out of the end zone. Mahomes in the second half was 13 of 14 and they allowed 160 yards rushing in 6.1 yards of carry. But I did think his willingness to aggressively run Jalen Hertz first series, I thought they'd protect him for a half. Nope. They went right at him. And I mean, going against Andy Reid, there's a lot of pressure. You're a favorite. I think he's, I think, unlike other coaches in this league where I'm not sure what their identity is,

when I think of Seriani, I think aggressive. Remember Brandon Staley, we thought that for year one by year two. He stopped going for it. This guy embodies Philadelphia. He's tough. He's aggressive. He likes physical football. He's got a buy-in.

I just thought their defense was. It's a little generous. All right. Let's see. would have been more appropriate. I'll just say that. And we'll wrap up with Andy Reid. How would you grade his Super Bowl? Highest grade A plus. I thought it was a clinic.
