You know, the other reason some of these baseball playoff games don't have full stadiums is, like, if your team's not doing well, they're not like the Houston Astros, again, tons of success.
They didn't sell out their first round games.
The team wasn't very good, not very athletic, wasn't a lot of fun to watch.
And, like, things cost more.
We were talking about this this morning.
I go to the grocery store about once a week, twice a week.
I love grocery stores.
They're freshness centers.
Everything's cold and fresh.
I love grocery stores.
So I go there often.
And I get about 12 items.
And it's usually a certain price.
And I swear to God, over the last year, a year and a half, it's 30% more expensive.
And I'm like, was there a peanut butter shortage?
I mean, what's going on with bananas?
I don't.
Wheat thins.
I don't get it.
So some of it is just, you know, everything's expensive.
And unless the quality is exceptional, you know, fans are making choice.
People. Americans are making choices.
Julian Edelman played for over a decade, 12 years, three-time Super Bowl champ, got a new podcast, The Gronkin Jewel Show.
All right.
So I want to start with this.
I was told years ago, you know, after September, by the time you get to October, everybody's, nobody gets out of bed feeling great.
Let's go to your career.
You're a wide receiver.
You're getting guys linebackers coming across, safeties.
Going into week six in the NFL.
What did you feel like?
Week six is probably the time where you hear about the grind of the season.
Six to 12.
The excitement of the start of the season is over.
The accumulation of playing full speed football.
You have five weeks in.
So you got bumps and bruises.
The days are shorter.
So you get to the facility.
It's dark.
You leave the facility.
It's dark.
It's a little colder.
New England. So like your ankles are tight in the morning. You don't want to get out of the hot
shower to go to the installation where you're probably going to get yelled at. So this is when
the grind of the season really begins, I think, week six. There's a light at the end of the tunnel
and that's usually a train that's about to come hit you because there's no daylight. This is the
toughest part of the season. Teams are starting to know what they do well. Teams are starting to
know what, hey, we need to work on things.
We have to completely dump.
And this is the time of the year where, you know, teams start to rise.
Yeah.
I want to talk about, because you know the Patriots well.
And I've always kind of had a feeling, and I'm sure a lot of people do, that really good
coaching staffs, course correct better, see the flaws earlier, are not, are willing to take
risks.
They trust themselves.
And Drake May three weeks ago, it was a hazmat.
spill. Nothing worked. And then the last two weeks, you're like eight touchdowns, one pick.
What do you think, you know Josh McDaniels well? Like, what do you think? I mean, it's gone from
bad to, boy, he looks like he did last year. What do you think Josh tweaked?
I don't think Josh really tweaked anything. I think this is a product of a 24-year-old
quarterback who probably went through his first bit of adversity in his career.
I talk with Josh all the time and he goes,
nothing's ever been hard for this kid.
He goes out and he shoots 78 at Augusta.
He can win a three-point contest.
He can hit Dinger's when he does a home run derby.
He's good at everything he does.
And probably the best thing for him
was to go through a little adversity early into a season
after just going to a Super Bowl.
Very young football team.
They haven't had a lot of continuity on the offensive side of the ball.
you're losing your tackle, you lose your number one playmaker,
a playmaker that you relied on all last year,
Keshaw Booty's in Houston now,
so you're learning new guys,
and he's never had these experiences.
So, you know, I think it's just time on task.
It's another experience for him.
Thank God he has a mentally strong coaching staff around him
that understands these situations like Josh.
There was plenty of times where, you know,
we started this season two and two,
where we weren't very confident, everyone at every position, even Tom Brady,
and that comes through your practice execution,
going out and having a good week of practice,
harping on the little things of taking care of the football in practice,
doing the practice execution becomes game reality.
So I think it's just something that was probably a good thing for the Patriots
to go through a little bit of adversity early in the season after going to a Super Bowl.
You could feel like you're on cloud nine after a season like that for a young football team.
Now they see that there's only a couple things here and there in an NFL game that can change everything.
Taking care of the football is one of those things.
I always think your experience is similar to Brock Purdy.
So you're very good in college, but you're unheralded when you come to the NFL.
And I always think the downside to being a lower draft pick is if you have one bad,
day at practice, everybody's like, yeah, well, you know, you got to play at nowhereville.
So you got to be on your game all the time. But, but Brock Purdy, it just keeps getting
better and better and better. So when I watch Brock Purdy play, I can tell he's a good practice
player. I can tell he does that homework. Go to your experience. What are the advantages?
Because there's a lot of negatives. What are the advantages of being drafted later,
unharalded, overlooked? Did you, did you often look at it like, oh, no, these are
advantages for me, not disadvantages?
Well, if you're scared of light, there's advantages because you're going to get a lot less opportunities.
I think there's absolutely no advantage when you're drafted later in the draft.
You're getting less opportunities.
You get a shorter leash.
I remember vividly, we drafted two other guys at the same position, and they force feed these guys to try to make their team look, you know, the scouting department look good like that they were right.
So I don't think there's anything that's an advantage.
The one advantage maybe is that you're comfortable being uncomfortable.
You know, you understand that you're only going to get three reps maybe for the week with, you know, the ones.
And you have to do good in those.
And you realize that there's an urgency about everything.
And that's what Brock Purdy shows.
He's always prepared.
Like you said, he's a great, you could tell he's a great practice player because he doesn't take that for granted from what he remembers when he
as a young guy and Trey Lance was getting all the reps.
You know, so I think, I don't think there's any advantage.
Maybe the only advantage is that you have a guy that's battle tested that knows how to compete,
that will compete to the very end because that's what he's had to do his whole career.
This next question is hard for you to relate because you didn't have a lot of down seasons.
But Philadelphia feels like,
Sireani now's lost control a little bit.
The young coordinator's not working.
Manion, maybe a great coach. He's not quite there. Jalen's got a blood clot won't play. They just
treaded Cam Juergens. Lane suddenly retires. It does feel different. And they've had a hell of a run.
Was there ever a point in your career? And it may have been for a six or seven game stretch.
You're like, you can just tell. Like, did the vibes bad? Players are hurt. You know it in the locker
room. Nobody wants to talk about it. But did you ever experience anything like this last five or six weeks for Philly?
Yeah, my last year.
You know, Tom, out the building.
You know, we got new players in.
There's COVID.
The preparation process was a little different because of the new guys around the facility.
And you get into a rut.
It's very hard.
But with Philadelphia, I mean, we've seen this before.
like what 2017 they went a super bowl with peterson foals slash wents and then they hit control the leap three years later they bring in seriani and they bring in you know hurts and so i i think that they are accustomed to these experiences and because of the leadership of howie roseman i think they're going to be all right he he's a really good leader that sometimes knows when to call it quits or knows when to
he has to make a change.
And so, you know, with the Eagles, yeah, it looks bad right now,
but, I mean, they have a completely new team from a Super Bowl that they won nine years ago,
and they went to, and won another Super Bowl.
So, like, I have confidence in how he Rose and whatever he does and however he feels
that even if they are resetting this year, that they'll probably be back quicker than
a lot of other teams would be.
So you have the distinction, and this is very rarely the case in any sport, I could argue you were better in Super Bowls than even in the regular season.
You were better in big games.
You made your most memorable catches in big games.
Generally speaking, even great athletes, Barry Bonds for a long time couldn't hit in the postseason.
Arod had a bad postseason series or two.
You were the opposite.
You were almost more heroic in big games.
And I think that's a fascinating psychology.
Bo Nick said this week
he's like I overthink stuff
I get anxious
and you know Sean Payton like Belichick
is outspoken and demanding like
in your entire career
how did you avoid that?
You went the other way bigger the game
almost the looser you were
I think that's rare
I mean I know it's statistically
it's very rare
was it your dad's coaching
I mean how did you do and by the way
have you played with guys who were great
but you'd see
them get tight in big games?
Yeah, I think
a lot of that has to do probably
with my upbringing that
I took practice
as games and
even the
later we got into the season
when the body starts to feel good
we just talked about the grind part, 6
to 12. Well, after week 12
then you get a little shot of life
because you're starting to see seating
and so like your ultra
focus comes in even more at
practice and I felt like that's what was my my power I guess of playing well in the postseason
is where I just I took practice like they were games and I had leadership with our coaching
staff with our quarterback that did the same types of things or you know the harder you practice
in those later parts because it does get easier to to maybe not go all out and practice when
the season gets later, you're banged up.
But I really, I leaned on those practices.
And, you know, everything that I talk about is practice execution becomes game reality.
And the more intense focus that you have during those prep weeks, you know,
I thought it was easier because you're only thinking about one team and it's do or die.
So you study that team to death and do everything with that week's,
some prep thinking about that specific team.
So I think a lot of that has to do with just, you know, our coaches, our leaders on that
team, on those teams, and how we prepared, you know, and, you know, with the whole regular
season thing, like, our team played the game differently.
We were trying to win games.
We were trying to improve each week.
We wouldn't go out there.
Like, if I were to start the season with 30 catch-up.
after, you know, four weeks,
Josh McDaniels and Bill Belichick were going to make the offense not throw to me
because that was a tendency that we couldn't just always have.
We would go to a completely different game plan
because it's like the point we're talked about earlier in week six, you know,
you are what you are, you know what you do well,
what are the things that we don't do well?
Let's work on those things.
And then by the time you get back to the playoffs,
then you go, whatever is our best thing we're going with.
And so that's usually how it formed out or usually how it played out.
So I always work back to everything's about that prep.
Yeah.
Got a new podcast with Gronk, the Gronk and Jewel Show.
How's your life?
Things good?
You look good.
You look healthy.
Things good?
Everything's going well, man.
My daughter's in soccer season right now.
She just started, you know, the holiday session is about,
about to start with Halloween. You go Halloween, we got Thanksgiving, birthday, Hanukkah, Chris.
I mean, it's the Super Bowl for kids coming up. So we're excited.
You know, and I'm enjoying the football season. What an incredible year already with the surprises.
You know, we've had some really great games on Fox to cover. I'm excited for, you know,
just the play out of this year. It's a great time to be alive.
Yeah, it is. Great seeing you, my man.
great to see you all right jules um busy time of the year it has been a great season it's uh i mean
there's there's a couple teams we thought the rams would be better they're not bad but their
schedule's tough uh we you know a lot of people said denver'd be a little better well if they win
tonight they're in a good spot uh kansas city's probably a little better than we thought
uh i think we all thought seattle was good but you lose running backs you're not going to be as
good offensively uh jacksonville remains good uh you know you wait for chicago and kaleb williams
Lions worried me for three weeks.
I think the lions are back being good.
Michael Pennix has been one of the surprises.
We didn't know if he could stay healthy.
When he was healthy, he was outstanding.
I think he's going to play this week.
Philadelphia is obviously disappointing.
I think the only disappointing thing to me this,
I mean, the one bummer to me is Jackson Dart getting hurt.
Because I thought, first of all, I had, that was my improved team.
But I think he's really, really a fun player to watch.
And he's just cocky enough where you kind of root for him or you root against him.
To me, the only bummer so far, and I remember the injury, and I remember thinking, yeah,
he'll be out a week.
And then you get that news, it's like, you know, he's done for the season.
That was a gut punch.
That was tough.
But other than that, San Francisco, you know, we thought they would be capable.
They'd been great.
You know, the teams at the bottom, the Titans, the Jets, Arizona, Miami, fairly predictable.
Most of the teams at the top, fairly predictable.
But outside of Jackson Dard, that was a bummer.

There's great food, comfortable chairs, and attentive stewardesses.
The stewardesses were so beautiful.
But in reality, the stewardess job is far less glamorous than it appears.
It was the most sexist job I think you could have.
In this era, the airlines told these stewardesses, they have to be single.
They had no good excuse for why they wouldn't let women be married.
They have to be skinny.
We were starving ourselves.
And they have to be young.
You would retire at age 32.
But one day, a group of stewardesses said,
this has got to stop.

J-Mack with the news.
This is the Herdline News.
Colin, getting whiplash here,
trying to keep track of all the quarterback injuries.
Let's go to the Jalen Hertz blood clot
when he's been ruled out.
Tanner McKee will get the start.
Andy Dalton was so bad in that one pass against the Bears that it's going to be the Tanner McKee show.
This is what's interesting.
I was just tiling it, Colin.
Jalen Hertz will be the seventh quarterback in the NFC to miss a game.
Yeah.
Seven.
AFC only has one.
We'll get to him shortly.
But this is not good news.
The line at some of the sharper books is now Carolina favored by three and a half in Philly.
No word yet on Sequin Barkley.
or Devontas Smith.
So now we're looking at a backup quarterback with likely a fourth string running back.
Remember, Will Shipley hurt, the backup Biggsby hurt, and take one out.
Remember, with a lot of these injuries, it's a long season, you're not going to risk it.
If you go to the last five or six Super Bowls, by and large, 97% of the roster is intact.
I think if I recall the chiefs a few years ago when they got beat, we're missing the left tackle.
here it is but by and large a lot of this stuff like like by the way jalen hurts
abundance of caution they could play him so now jackson dart that's different but a lot of
these injuries as the season gets extended are could play probable doubtful but what's the point
so like i i did the idea that oh this sport it's i've never seen all the injuries i have
every year 60 quarterbacks play we've lost one really good one um i think hurt
could play, but I think the Eagles are being smart.
Lamar is going to come back.
I'm surprised Justin Herbert still standing up with all the sacks.
But every year, one of the predictable cries is, oh, this league, they're falling apart.
I got all those old Niners players are, you know, they're hobbling, they're wobbling, but they're still playing.
You know, if you look big picture, Colin, for the Eagles, so they've lost three in a row.
They are, by some metrics, the worst second half team in the NFL this century.
Yeah, they're terrible.
Sean Mannion is apparently clueless as an offensive coordinator.
Siriani Hotsie.
I do wonder, they traded Cam Juergens, Lane Johnson retired.
There's a lot of like, well, they're not going to the playoffs, right?
We would agree with that.
Well, you don't know.
It's not a great division.
It's not a great division.
But at two and three, they're now underdogs to fall behind two and four.
We don't know.
I was trying to look up, play doctor on Google Gemini here.
It's unclear.
Hertz could be anywhere from one to four weeks.
Well, look at this.
Look at the.
coaches they face.
They got a Brian Schottenheimer coming up.
Dan Quinn in the hot seat.
You look up and you got, you know,
shoddy and then Lafleur in Arizona and Shane Steichen could be under the gun.
Like, there's a lot.
So the schedule's favorable, but we don't even know if Shane,
you know,
if Siriani can like chew gum and eat with his left hand with a fork or stuff.
Like he looks absolutely lost,
sitting on the sword or falling on the sword,
however you say it for that Jacksonville.
Like,
Remember how they had to get, what was it, like an Easter bunny they put in the locker room last year to turn things around?
What do you do now?
I'm just saying, I think it's over for the Eagles.
You're saying they got a shot, huh?
I'm saying in that division, that division could be settled in week 17.
There's no great teams.
I thought the Giants could have been with Dart.
He's gone.
Dallas doesn't have a strong enough staff to be great.
Philadelphia now has some, I mean, they've got real.
Like, Lane Johnson, Cam Juergens, like that's a different offensive line now.
Yeah.
This isn't these,
this is,
the NFC East is starting to look like the NFC South
where somebody's got to make the playoffs.
And it may just be attrition.
Philadelphia gets healthy and hurts is good enough.
So I have no referendums or proclamations on that division.
Giants have the Saints this weekend and with a chance to move to 4-1 and 1.
All right,
let's move on to another quarterback who's hurt.
And that's Lamar Jackson.
Practice is happening at this very moment in Baltimore.
And Lamar's not there.
We don't know if he's getting treatment.
no word yet. The coaches will speak afterward.
Colin, they're listing Lamar is questionable for the matchup against the Browns.
I mean, you guys can go do your homework on the Browns at home against Lamar and the Ravens.
I wouldn't touch this game.
Wouldn't touch it.
I don't know if Lamar is playing.
Cleveland's got a lot of talent there at home.
They beat the Steelers at home.
I'm not surprised by it, but I think one of the surprises in the league is the Browns have a real punch.
It does not surprise me.
I think Todd Munkin, we didn't know if he would be the guy.
He's done a great job with Deshaun Watson.
He's done a tremendous job.
You never know if these longtime coordinators are going to work at headcoat.
David Cully was a disaster.
You didn't know what you were getting from Todd Munkin.
I watched that Cleveland offense, those rookies, Boston, Concepcion,
those guys have come in and been nice players.
So I wouldn't touch that game.
I would not be surprised by anything in Baltimore, Cleveland.
Yeah, I'm with you is to stay away.
The Brown's injury report, by the way, not great.
I think it was Concepcion got knocked out.
out by Pink of Fitzpatrick.
Yeah.
I don't, the guess is he's not going to be back.
They're running back.
Judkins is out.
The linebacker from UCLA, Swinsterger.
He's not practicing.
Tremendous player.
He's excellent.
So they got a lot of injuries.
This could be a Derek Henry, 29 carries for a buck 86.
Ravens win 13 to 6 or something.
You know, that to me is where we're headed.
Now, finally, good news, Colin.
Let's go to college football for the final story.
And it is breaking right now, according to Pete Thammell and multiple reports.
and multiple reports.
The college football playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams.
Thank you.
Thank you, college football.
They're saying this new format will start in 2027, which is, I mean, we're getting close, Colin, a year away.
I love this.
You love this.
The internet, of course, is melting down.
No, how could we?
I'll just, I'll say it again.
I was told NIL was going to ruin the sport.
It didn't.
I was told the transfer portal was going to ruin the sport.
It didn't.
So this will be, it will ruin the sport.
It will not.
College football with a 2014 playoff,
you're going to get into your conference schedules faster.
You're going to get rid of these directional school, silly September games,
which are God-awful.
I mean, I think that my staff, Jason gave me a stat a couple of weeks ago on like top 30 teams,
their margin of victory or something.
It was just ridiculous.
48 to 10 was the average score.
Stop telling me how great the regular season is in college football.
There are great games in it, but there's four times as many unwatchable games.
This is just going to give us, at the end of the season, more sudden death wins.
It's a smaller version of March Madness.
And the other thing over the – so I grew up in the West Coast.
So I grew up as a Pac-12 fan.
And when that conference disbanded, it was like, this is terrible.
I got to be honest with you.
The Big Ten, I got USC and UCLA and Oregon and Washington.
And the Big Ten, I'm watching games I never watched before.
I didn't need to see Cal and Arizona play again.
I didn't need to see Oregon State, Washington State.
I'm getting more big games.
And I think this will ensure at the end of the year,
we're going to get Power 4 versus Power 4 more big games.
I don't.
So what if I see Michigan?
Michigan, Ohio State played twice in a year.
It's quality.
If they make the playoff, they're both good.
What do I care?
I think we romanticize certain things.
People are like, I missed the good old days.
I don't.
I was around in the 70s, 80s, 90s.
Medical advancements are better.
There's more cool resorts.
Travel is easier.
There's more food is better.
This thing's not bad either.
This iPhone that they created is decent.
So top 20 AP teams this year are winning.
by three touchdowns on average, 21.3.
So what that means is that number is going to go down over time
because you're going to have more good teams facing good teams.
This weekend's a prime example.
Ohio State, Indiana, you're like, that's a great game.
In the NFL, even though you only have like 14 games,
like nine of them end up being great.
In the college football weekend, you're going to have 60 games,
and five are great.
What this will do is it will increase.
the number of quality teams facing quality teams.
I would have been happy with 16 playoff, but 24 is fine.
It's a mini-march madness.
I know I'm in the minority.
The internet hates it, but I like it.
I think you're right.
And listen, what people fail to realize is there will be more teams willing to play good
teams.
Because two losses is not a death sentence.
And as a matter of fact, Colin, you'll be able to get in the playoff with three losses.
Now, you can't lose to direction on you, but you're not playing them.
You're playing Notre Dame against, I don't know, Michigan State or good games.
I'll give an example.
Notre Dame has discovered this because Notre Dame is not a full-fledged member of a conference.
They have struggled since the Big 12, since the Big 10 and SEC have expanded.
You add Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC.
Now it's a power conference.
You add four Pack 12 teams to the Big Ten, Power Conference.
Well, Notre Dame is calling all those schools for games.
And they're like, no.
You can't afford a loss.
They're like,
we have to play Texas and Oklahoma too now in the SEC.
We're not playing Notre Dame.
So when USC pulled out of that,
everybody's like,
oh, have you seen USC schedule this year?
Back-to-back weeks, Indiana, Ohio State.
Not to mention UCLA is now good.
They've already played Oregon,
which didn't turn out to be good, lost Washington.
So the idea,
this now, Notre Dame's going to get on the phone
and teams know, okay, we can play Notre Dame.
Now, Notre Dame has really been a test study on this case study, is that they have privately said,
that's why they signed BYU so quickly.
Like outside of that Miami BYU game, their schedule is brutal.
But when you're baked into a conference, you're not willing to take those chances anymore with a 12-team playoffs.
Yeah, and by the way, Oregon fans out there wish that were the case this year.
Oregon season's over, right?
They lose to Oklahoma State.
They lose to UCLA.
It's done.
But in a 2014 playoff, hey, we've got to change.
chance. Let's win out. We got this. We're in.
Just think about this. When you
didn't have, when you only had a four-team
final, a four-team playoff,
90% of the sport was done by October
10th. A 24-team playoff means
you're going to be, half the sport
is going to go into November with
still a shot to get in. So you're saying
there's a chance. The sports has got its best.
When you can give everybody
a longer tarmac
to end up fighting for a national championship.
We're not that far removed by you knew Bama was getting in
and Georgia was getting in and probably Ohio State was getting in
and there was one or two spots open max to get in.
That's not good for any sport.
This is great.
I mean, Missouri is kind of a plucky team this year.
Missouri has no chance.
Well, I don't know.
Indiana, Ole Miss, everybody's got a chance.
Like, I like this.
More teams have a chance.
The other thing is, like Kentucky's really good
five and one. So Kentucky's a team that would go into a 2014 playoff with no pressure. No
team. Yeah. And if they had to face, you know what I mean? So the idea at 24 is you're going to
let some of these teams in, these smaller teams that are actually good, and they're going to go in
with no pressure. And the big dog is going to come in with all the pressure. So you watch that
2014 playoff. This is not basketball. It's attrition. Who stays healthy? You're going to end up,
it's going to take four or five years. You're going to end up loving this. There'll be new
traditions. It'll be wonderful. Jay Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping
by. The herd line news. The other thing is demographically, college football has an older fan base than the
NFL. Older people tend to hold on to tradition and habits. You know, young people are willing to
kind of make it up as they go. They've formed fewer habits. Older people, myself included,
we have certain things we eat for breakfast. There are certain things we do every day working out. There are
certain places we go.
Like as you get older, people tend to, like, get more conservative with their life.
You know, they don't want any more taxes.
And, you know, that's just the way most people are.
They get more conservative as they age.
And so college football's got a very large older plus 55 fan base, and they're going to
grumble about it, and they have every right to grumble.
But my take is, NIL didn't ruin the sport.
Transfer Portal didn't ruin the sport.
This just, it just takes a while to get used to it.
There'll be some turbulence.
There'll be some bumps.
I think in the end, the consumer wins, more big games.
That's what I'm rooting for.
Because in the end, I'm a consumer.
It doesn't matter what you do for a living.
I'm turning the TV on just like you are.

Cyberstalking, swatting, extortion, impersonation.
And then the text threats escalated.
Someone's not going to make it out of this alive.
Yes, department.
It's playing.

They risked it all, turning a fight for fairness into a revolution.

Sunday, it's a great day of NFL action on Fox as the Bears take on Beijon Robinson and the Falcons or the Cardinals face Matthew Stafford and the Rams or other regional action.
It's all part of Fox Toberfest Sunday on Fox.
We noted this earlier.
There are downsides to having a big payroll.
Number one, most very, very big contracts go to older players.
That doesn't mean they're not in their late prime or prime, but their older players.
they get hurt more.
Older athletes get hurt more.
Their recovery is more slow or
they recover more slowly.
The second thing is when you have these massive contracts,
all these baseball contracts now,
I mean, Vlad Guerrero, 14 years,
you can't get out of them.
And you always, at the end, they're awful.
Right now the Dodgers, and they're considered well-run,
have five players under contract to 2029
who make at least 27 million or more per season.
And three of these contracts,
you cannot move.
Shohei, Mookie Betts, Blake Snell,
Kyle Tucker, and Yoshi.
I mean, Kyle Tucker, when they signed him,
I'm like, that's the one that freaks everybody out.
That's a bad contract.
The Mookie deal now.
It's a bad contract.
Blake Snell, nine starts all year.
Bad contract.
Now, Shoy Otani, my take on Shohei is
eventually they will make a determination,
both Shohay and the Dodgers, no longer pitches, just hits.
I think it's asking too much.
I think it was fun.
It's like Travis Hunter.
be a DB.
Eventually, that's your strength.
I think they're going to take the pitching away.
Don't negotiate it with Shohei.
And you'll have Shohei's bat and Yoshi's arm.
And those contracts will be great.
You're not getting bargains, but they're great players.
But the mokey, Snell, Tucker, and this is the downside.
And we said this when they went and got Terrick Scouble.
We're like, he's great.
But man, that is another massive contract.
Better hope he's healthy because Snell's not and Glasno's not.
And, you know, this idea, remember, the Dodgers are the outlier.
They're the rich team that keeps winning big.
The Padres don't.
Yankees don't.
Yankees can't beat anybody except American League Central teams in the playoffs.
The Mets don't.
Phillies don't.
Cubs are good.
But, I mean, just think of the payroll the Cubs had.
They still didn't have any pitching.
So you can think you have all the big money.
I mean, why is Milwaukee's pitching better than Chicago?
Or, I mean, why is it?
that? Who's got more money? And the Cubs are fascinating. They don't hit home runs. They don't
pull the ball. And they hit the ball in the ground. Analytics is like, bad, bad, bad. Yet they're
a machine. So read Jared Diamond's article in the Wall Street Journal today about the Milwaukee
Brewers. They're kind of the anti-analytic team. And it works. It's great. It's a fun watch.
They put the ball in play. I'm not a big fan of home run strikeout baseball. I like stolen bases.
I like base runners. I like plays at second. I like plays at third. I like plays at the play.
I want base runners.
That's what I grew up with.
That's more fun to me.
It's more activity.
So not going to be easy for the Dodgers.
Shohei, Mookie, Snell, Tucker, and Yoshi.
Five players under contract through 2029.
You're not moving those deals.
Two of them I don't want to move.
Three, I'd love to, and can't.
All right.
Seahawks at Denver, 2824, Seattle tonight.
Dodgers, hosting the Brewers.
Milwaukee leads the series.
three none today at 70s, turn on FS1.
It's the herd.
See you tomorrow.
