This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.

Thanks so much.
I'm Doug Gottlieb in for Colin Cowherd.
Friday, Selection Sunday is two days from now.
Not even two days from now.
It's like a...
I guess two days from now.
Do you count the first day?
It's a great question.
we don't count the lights anymore.
Remember we were kids?
You're like,
oh, where I go?
You go up six lights and take it right.
And then you pull away.
Do I count this light that I was?
I don't know.
We got great stuff.
A lot of football for you.
Adam Kaplan will join us in 15 minutes.
He's not only our Fox Sports Radio insider,
but he's also hosts the Inside the Bird's podcast.
We'll ask him about the Philadelphia Eagles and what their offseason looks like.
A lot of free agents.
And then, of course, there's the Jalen Hertz and the first round draft picks that they
have is a lot to talk about. The, the, the dolphins apparently have freed up $50 million in
cap space. So even though they have, have said, hey, we are fully committed to Tua Tunga
Vialoa. The reality is there's a couple of guys out there that could be on their radar. If that's
the, if that's the choice that they're, that's what we'll get to that with Adam Kaplan upcoming.
I want to start with this though.
This is a big story.
Big story.
Charles Robinson is Yahoo Sports Senior NFL reporter.
He quotes anonymous agents saying the following in regards to Lamar Jackson.
With Lamar, if they got a $250 million deal over five years, but it was only $130 million guaranteed, that's their view of him, what agents said.
At one point, at that point, the nuance would be in the negotiation details.
Can we cut off a year from the deal so he gets the free agency sooner?
Can we have a no franchise tag or no transition tag clause at the end of it?
We're talking about the mechanisms that allow him to make even more money, get to the market sooner.
There's always ways with an agent to skin a cat.
But when it comes to how Lamar valued himself, what we think as his agent does
mean an effing thing.
What you think in the media doesn't mean an effing thing.
What other players think doesn't mean an effing thing.
A player values himself in a certain way.
And sometimes that's the only way you can see it.
Eventually, that's what he's being blinded by.
Lamar doesn't want other people's opinions or perspectives on his value.
He has made that clear for five years.
Here's what another agent had to say.
The last thing you want to do in this situation is back a team into a corner.
where you're so far apart, you're basically saying no and asking them to negotiate against themselves.
Owners aren't going to react well to that, especially if you're repeatedly asking them to do that.
And with players, their ego is important in negotiations.
You never want them to feel like they're eating a blank sandwich during the process.
It makes them feel bad about a negotiation and the job they've done as players.
There has to be some flexibility in the process.
so you know look this is in every job that has an agent this stuff has been like do i really need this guy
do i really need this lady do i need this person to help me get my value and how do i balance
that over the and this is this is a real thing in in our field is yeah i mean
they'll help me get a deal, but, and maybe I could get a little less, but, like in broadcasting,
standard rate is 10%. It's not that high in, in professional sports. It's between one and three, I believe,
in, in the NFL. But obviously, the numbers, the scale is, is far different. But, you know,
you balance out there, like, all right, I can make more money if I get an agent, but can I make 10%
more? It's a hard call sometimes. And, oh, yeah, by the way, like,
Sometimes you feel like, can I just get this thing done?
Do I need to call on a third party?
We live in a society now that so much of what we learn.
People don't read books as often, although they listen to podcasts.
But they, we take things on TV, you know, and DIY, the do-it-yourself era is upon us.
You know, maybe some of it is you feel like contractors,
They're going to do as little as possible and charge you as much as possible.
And you want, some of us are control freaks.
Some of us want to save money.
Some of us just like the idea of, hey, man, I want to do something with my hands.
I want to do it myself.
But I'll tell you, that doing yourself idea, it's a hard one.
Right?
It's a hard one.
Because can you paint that wall that you've, man, I got to paint that room.
You want to paint that room?
Fine.
First, you got to figure out what color.
So you got to go down to the paint store.
You got to go down to Depot.
You got to go to Lowe's.
And you got to come back.
Bring back.
Then you paint on the wall.
And you see how it looks.
And, of course, it looks different at different times of the day.
Then when you commit to doing it yourself,
okay, now I've got to cover the rest of the room.
Now I've got to worry about the borders.
Now I've got to buy the brushes.
Now I've got to have the time.
Now I got to, how much paint do I actually need?
Just the idea of getting a roller and rolling it on and being done.
or getting a sprayer and that sounds great and then of course if something goes wrong then you have to
fix it and fixing it sometimes screws it up even worse you get done you're like yeah i saved a couple
hundred bucks but man i lost a whole weekend i made a complete mess i didn't really know what i was doing
is there a reward in doing yourself yeah or you can just hire somebody who knows what they're doing
and not think anything about there's a value to that the time save the energy save
and if somebody, if they screw it up,
let me just redo it.
You know, you don't pay them everything up front.
You withhold some of the payment until it's done.
It's done right.
When it's done right,
then it's done.
Who doesn't watch DIY?
I'm like, man, I can do that myself.
Yeah, I could do the demo.
Even demo when you do it.
Sometimes you get a hammer,
you're like, I'm going to just destroy stuff.
One of my jobs was I was in college.
My college coach helped me get a job doing demo for a guy that was redoing houses.
here's the thing okay i'll ask you rye music what do you think the hardest thing about doing demo
in the summer in oklahoma's the heat yeah because when you're doing demo to a house
and you're redo it a house they're not turning on the air conditioning you go into some dump
that they're going to knock down a bunch of walls that completely gut you're not throwing on the AC
HVAC unit no no no no now it did teach me
why people like coal beer.
Like I've never been like, I like beer.
It's fine.
I like Mexican beer more than anything.
I've never been like a Coors Light or a Bud Light guy.
But I'll tell you what, you work eight hours inside some ungodly heat,
just destroying stuff, taking a big hammer and beating the crap out of walls and taking
out cabinets and generally creating some sort of fun mess.
You get done at 5 o'clock and you run down to the get and gallop and you open up a buttlock.
or a Coors Light, you're like, man, that, that actually does taste like heaven.
That actually is, the high life actually is the high life.
But, I mean, you know, all these things which you think you want to do yourself, you're like,
yeah, I don't really want to do myself.
You know?
How many times you started a DIY job?
You're like, yeah, I can't really do that.
I don't, I can't do electrical, I can't do plumbing, I can't do all this stuff.
Marr's trying to do it all himself.
And whether it's out of ego or being cheap.
or just trying to create your own path.
Like, I think it screwed this whole thing up.
And the other thing, and people who are or have been married, they'll tell you this.
Don't do projects with your wife or your girlfriend or whatever.
Like, nothing leads to a breakup quicker.
Because either you or the other person are not working at the same level of energy.
And you or the other person doesn't have the same acumen.
and nobody wants to be bossed around,
especially when it's not your job.
It's just bad.
Doesn't it feel,
doesn't it feel
like on some level
Lamar's been embarrassed?
You have all these
former players,
current players, like, man, this is crazy.
I don't know what's going on here.
And then you have people who actually dive in deep
and like, look, all the Ravens are doing is
let's find out what the market looks like for you.
anybody can offer you a contract.
Now, they got to give us two first-round picks if in five days we decide.
And all of these teams that need quarterbacks are like, I'm out.
Now, when they say they're out, it doesn't mean they're all out-out,
it just means they're out at five years fully guaranteed.
As Collins said, was that last week?
My week's coming together.
Or is that this week?
I think it was this week.
It doesn't have to be conclusion.
It doesn't have to be collusion to all come to the same conclusion.
It doesn't have to be collusion.
We all come to the same conclusion.
Is the Deshawn Watson contract a good contract?
No.
Is the Russell Wilson contract a good contract?
No.
Like you kind of go through these contracts.
You're like, these are not good contracts.
Why would I?
I mean, even the Kyla Murray contracts, a terrible contract for the team.
Why would I say, oh, Deshaun's contract, terrible.
Why would I do that?
When Lamar's missed 15 games the past two years and as you get older,
the way in which he plays, the likelihood is of more injuries.
You don't know how, remember, they just got rid of Greg Roman.
You have no idea how he's going to look or play in a new system and what the ceiling is there.
How much of their limitations was based upon Greg Roman?
Because he won the MVP in that system.
You don't know.
So why am I going to give him a five-year guarantee deal?
At top of the market, passed an outlier deal.
You're not going to.
Agents have told you, and GMs have told me.
Like, look, this deal could have been done a long time ago if you have an agent.
If you have an agent and they're at 1.30 guaranteed and you want 2.32 guaranteed.
Like, there's a way to bridge that gap and get it closer.
There's creative ways in which you can walk away where not everybody's doing backflips,
but everybody's essentially happy.
They have their quarterback and you get your money.
But instead, Lamar listens to people who tell them what he wants to hear.
Hey, man, this is what you're worth.
You are worth what someone's willing to pay.
you. And to this point, no one's willing to pay him five years completely guaranteed contract
at a rate of, you know, in the $50 million a year variety. It just hasn't happened. Hasn't
happened. And these agents are telling you why. I mean, think now. The reason you have an agent
on some level also is so that in negotiations, those things don't become tenuous. It doesn't become
personal. But instead of it looking like the Ravens were the one team that didn't want to
a pony up all that money.
Now it looks like the league doesn't.

I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on The Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84's big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that.
sentence.
I don't think there's a more important
year for black people. Really?
Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years
for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart
Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

Doug Gottliebant for calling it's the Hurt, Fox Sports Radio,
IHart Radio app.
Welcome in.
We got a lot of hurtline news to get to.
We got a good best for last.
Let's welcome with Adam Kaplan.
He's our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider.
He also hosts the Inside the Bird's podcast.
I've got a lot of things I'd like to get to.
Have you seen this that they're restructuring some deals in Miami?
They had a bad cap situation.
Now apparently they have $50 million in cap space.
Now, publicly, they've said, hey, two is our guy.
But is this opening up cap space for one of these quarterbacks?
Well, it's been a jet to the whole understand it.
Okay, so the Lamar Jackson thing is fascinating, right?
You have all these teams that have said,
we're not in on Lamar Jackson, but is it we're not in on Lamar Jackson, period?
Or we're not in on Lamar Jackson five years fully guaranteed upwards, you know,
more than Deshawn Watson's deal?
Well, I'm going to take it to Mark Jackson, but they don't pay, not exclusive.
That could change it if they're willing to.
Okay, so do you think he plays for the Ravens next year?
percent it was about two weeks ago.
Yeah, you read these articles, and it's on par with what I've heard from GMs.
Charles Robinson has one, says basically you have agents that are like,
a lot of us could have been avoided if he had an agent.
Yep.
Is that what you've heard?
Particularly.
Where are we with Aaron Rogers?
My understanding is it went really well.
So if Rogers moves, we wait on Lamar, Derek Harman.
already signed.
Then you have this Ram
situation where Michael
Lombardi, who
he's been in this thing for a long time,
he goes on with McAfee and says,
hey, Stafford's being shopped.
They want to get out of the Stafford business.
The Rams, of course, have refuted that.
What happens with the Rams?
The problem is this contract.
And I want to put less need in a bind.
Yeah, folks, the dead money
on the cap is so big
if they trade them right now.
Now, in two years from now, it would be the big...
Last thing, I know you get a run.
We do, too.
The Birds, team you cover, you got your own podcast,
inside the Birds.
What do the Eagles look like with all their free agents
and the possibility of an extension with Jalen Hertz?
Yeah, boy, they've got to come back.
They don't have a starting quarter opposite.
James Bradbury.
So many got Miles Sanders.
They're not going to be as good.
Now, they'll be good.
And then the hope is...
Adam Kaplan, check out is Inside the Birds Podcast.
Of course, he's our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider.
Cap, thanks a much for joining us.
Thank you.
Let's get to Ryan Music with the news.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, Doug.
We got a lot, a lot happening.
So real quick, we'll make reference to this.
We're going to go all NFL and pick up right where you and Adam had left off.
This just coming down in the middle of your guys' discussion,
we won't call it breaking news.
because it is mostly expected, but it is something new here.
Mike Garifolo, NFL Network.
The Dolphins have informed their quarterback to a Tungaviloa that they are picking up his
fifth year option.
Sources say once executed, Tung of Iloa will be fully guaranteed $23.2 million for the
2024 season.
Another indication that Miami is confident, Tung of Iloa will be their quarterback for a long
time.
So that just coming down as you were talking to Adam.
So they're out on Lamar Jackson.
That is what that appears.
to telegraph you.
If they're doing it, they're out on Lamar Jack.
You're not paying that.
You're not moving them.
And look, I mean, I went to that Chargers Dolphins game,
and the difference between the two quarterbacks was so incredibly obvious.
But remember, you're only paying them 23.
So now the proof in the pudding is,
is there another contract offer after that in terms of extension?
you know, once he gets through next year, or do they let that expire?
You know, what are they?
They can also franchise, tag him afterwards.
But the big news is Lamar is no way.
Lamar is not going to Miami, despite the cap relief that they've gotten with these new deals.
Correct.
So with that bit of news just coming down, let's sort of dive in on some of the other stories that we had prepared here.
Something that Adam just mentioned briefly at the end there.
it was being reported that Darius Slay was requesting a trade
and that he had been given permission to talk.
Adam pointing out that the Eagles is trying to refute that,
saying that they have not given him permission to talk to each other.
There are other various reports about this mostly has to do with the fact
that Darius Slay wants a new contract.
So whatever the case is, somewhere along the line,
there is a break in the chain of communication and relationship
happening between Darius Lay and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Adam also laid out all the pending free agents that they have to come to deals with.
You mentioned the Jalen Hertz situation.
They could be losing their other starting cornerback, James Bradbury.
We haven't necessarily heard officially either way what Jason Kelsey, their star center,
whether or not he'll be retiring or coming back for another season.
Oh yeah, not to mention, they lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs.
I like what the Eagles have done over the years.
They've built up two Super Bowl rosters with two different quarterbacks over the span of four to five years.
They won one of those Super Bowls.
They came up just short this year.
They have a great front office.
I like what we've seen from Nick Siriani, but I got to be honest,
if there's a team that you have to look at as the quote unquote Super Bowl curse of huge regression after losing in the Super Bowl,
the Eagles look like a prime prime candidate to come back to mostly average as opposed to a truly special Super Bowl contender.
No question. No question.
I mean, and it does feel like they're going to repeat that, like I like Jalen Hertz.
And I think at a reasonable rate and a contract extension, he's a lot better than I thought most anybody thought.
Absolutely.
But that thing was built as an ensemble cast.
the defense was outstanding.
The offensive line was great.
And they got some age on that offensive line as well.
Got great wide receivers.
But you have a complete...
Shane Sankan was an awesome offense coordinator.
I think that's something that has been somewhat overlooked.
I do not want to take away from Nick Siriani
and have this be some sort of referendum on him as a head coach.
What I find interesting about this is,
is if you go back to his tenure in these two seasons as the Eagles head coach,
it was very rocky in the beginning of last season when he first got his opportunity as the head coach.
And then there was a pivot.
They made that late season push and ended up actually getting into the playoffs.
The big change that was happened, if you go back and read the reports,
Nick Siriani gave up play calling.
He initially was the head coach and the offensive play caller.
Once he gave up play calling,
They changed the offensive approach.
The team took off.
They went on a winning streak, made the playoffs,
and then that continued into this year.
Shane Seichen's gone now.
So I'm not saying that this is all doom and gloom
and they won't hire another coordinator
or maybe Seriani takes thought,
whatever they're going to do.
But that was the catalyst for what got that team on this hot streak.
And now that's completely gone.
I think it's something that hasn't necessarily been discussed yet,
especially considering how much Shane Seichen was able to get,
out of Jalen Hertz.
It's a huge, huge issue that they need to address,
in addition to all of the impending free agents that they have.
I mean, I don't know who the team is in the NFC East.
Remember, they played the easiest schedule in the NFL,
and many of the top teams they played,
like the Cowboys, when they beat him,
they didn't even have Dak Prescott.
Correct.
And I'll grant you, they went and ran rough shot,
but, I mean, they played the Niners together at the Super Bowl,
and the Niners have zero quarterbacks.
So I think this year is going to be far different.
You know, I would short the Eagles.
No problem.
Now, we'll also point out how he's built it before.
He has the power to do it again.
He has a couple first round picks.
The likelihood is you probably trade one of those and get more picks and go.
And when you have, when you assign Hertz, you know,
then you load up with young players that aren't making much,
much like what the Chiefs have done.
You got a hit on those picks.
That's a big thing.
You've got to hit on those picks when you do it to rebuild when you lose these veterans.
So Howie's done it before, he's proved people wrong before,
but I feel like we all see what's coming for the Eagles,
and I'm not sure it's a train that they can avoid.
Sure.
One final note on the Eagles, to your point about Howie Roseman,
what he's able to do, as savvy as he is.
They have that rare, rare, rare situation where they,
just played in a Super Bowl, yet have the 10th overall pick in this upcoming draft.
So probably an elite player coming their way for this next season based off of who they
take in the draft.
All right.
Let's move it along here.
All eyes on the Marr Jackson, Aaron Rogers, in this quarterback market merry-go-round that we
are monitoring.
There is another QB lurking in the shadows.
NFL network insider Ian Rappaport is reporting Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans,
Las Vegas Raiders, all targeting Jimmy GQ, Jimmy Garoppolo, Doug.
Now, Garoppolo has his connections to the Raiders and their head coach Josh McDaniels back in New
England as his offensive coordinator.
Similarly, in Houston, the general manager for the Texans, Nick Casario, was in the New England
front office with Jimmy.
Where are you on Jimmy G and as a franchise quarterback these days?
I mean, like, look, Jimmy G is one of those guys.
you know what you're going to get, right?
He's probably going to get hurt.
And when he plays, he's solid, but there's a ceiling there,
and he's going to throw a ball or two a half,
where you're like, where are you throwing the ball?
And you hope the other team drops it, or it's to nobody.
Sure.
I mean, I think when you watch Jimmy G.
Play, what we've seen is he's a facilitator, not an elevator.
If you have all the right pieces, he can go in there, run your offense, win you a bunch of games.
Look, I think the Raiders are the best spot for him because he knows Josh that relationship there
and because they have they have Devon, they have dudes.
Yeah.
That's it.
You know, offensive line obviously an issue, but they have dudes at the skill position and they'll elevate his play.
I think he's a little bit better than just a game manager,
but I don't believe he's an elite quarterback.
And that's right.
Music with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
All right.
This is a real honest question.
It feels like, like everybody's going to fake it starting Sunday and next week
and people will be calling and text to me and I'll do, you know,
I do Westwood won all the studio coverage for the NCAA tournament.
But it does feel like they're,
is a supreme lack of buzz when this is generally every dude sports fans favorite time of year.
Is that fair music or do you think it's the same as it's always been?
I completely agree with you that there is a serious lack of buzz.
Okay, I'm going to offer up a couple reasons why.
Let's hear it.
The first thing is like the football, football just so overwhelms all basketball,
but especially college basketball.
That's part of it, right?
You don't even begin to pay attention to it on a college campus until far later,
let alone in terms of mainstream.
Like, we're still, the NFL offseason has really changed
with all this quarterback movement or just discussions.
So there's a lot more post-season post-NFL talk than there used to be.
I think that's part of it.
I think losing these big-name coaches, like, it's hard to hate Duke now.
It was so easy to hate Duke for so many people.
Because for whatever reason, you were told, you know, when you're told Mike Shoshchewski is the greatest and you don't like Mike Sheshefsky, like you just instinctively hate Duke.
Now they have, obviously I know John Shire, but I don't think most people know who John Shire is.
They haven't drawn an opinion of him yet.
Like we're in this weird post-Roy Williams, post-Mike Shishvsky.
Now will be post-Jimbeheim Syracuse.
There's just, there's not anybody to truly hate.
The players are all, they all chishevich.
schools like I don't have any
you know it it was bad enough
before when guys were just one and duns
but now the one
and done's with the exception of Brandon Miller at
Alabama
those guys
they contribute but
there's not a Durant there's not the level of
Anthony Davis or not the level of stars
that there have been as one and duns
and then you have all the transfers
and guys or elsewhere I haven't got a chance to know a guy
over a couple of years
I don't know. I'm thinking, why do you think that, like for you, your fandom, why isn't it as big as it used to be?
I think you absolutely nailed it with those final two points. You know, college basketball, when we reflect back on, you know, the nostalgia of the best days, I mean, just like the first ones that come to mind is the Christian Leitner, Bobby Hurley days. And it was the year over year of,
okay how good are they okay they won a national championship can they do it again okay they
you know they didn't can they go back you know that development of following them over the years
is always instrumental to being invested and feeling the need to tune in and follow what's happening
now that's been gone for a while now and then to your point the transfer portal has
almost eliminated that completely in addition to the one and done
And then even over the years after that had occurred, you always knew like, okay, well, I want to see Roy Williams versus Coach K, Tom Izzo, even Jay Wright.
You know, you bought into the head coaches as the faces of these programs over the years.
And that's what you felt invested in.
Now it's almost like a blank canvas that you're waiting to see what's going to stick out to you.
And all you really have left is what, like is John Caliperi going to finally win another title with Kentucky?
Can Tom Izzo get another one at Michigan State?
I mean, outside of that, you just don't have these big stars that you feel invested in drawing you in to see what the results can be.
I mean, I do think once the tournament gets underway, people have their brackets.
You see the seating numbers on the screen.
Sure.
If there's potentially an upset, even though you don't know what the upset is, because it's not like you followed Purdue basketball to feel like, oh, they truly are one of the great teams that are being upset.
but I think once it's occurring, it'll feel a little different,
but it still doesn't stack up to how it's been in years past.
Nope, no, no.
All right, here's what we're going to do coming up next, okay?
I'm Doug Gottliebis, the herd on Fox Sports Radio,
The IHeart Radio app.
OBJ is going to work out for teams.
We know five things that you will absolutely see
if you were able to be a fly on the wall during an OBJ private workout.
Want to know what they are?
Find out next in The Hurt.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Horde, weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, it's Ben, host to The Fifth Hour with Ben Mallor.
It would mean a lot to have you join us on our weekly auditory journey.
You're asking what in God's name is the fifth hour?
I'll tell you, it's a spinoff of the Ben Mather show,
a cult hit overnights on FSR.
Why should you listen?
Picture, if you will, a world when we chat with captains of industry,
in media, sports and more every week, explore some amazing facts about human nature,
and more.
Listen to the fifth hour with Ben Mather
on the iHeart radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, CliverTaylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,

and for people who are chasing something bigger.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
We pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack,
so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Florida Atlantic, believe it or not, is 29 and 3.
And they just survived.
Middle Tennessee State.
Middle missed a couple of drives at the rim.
One was blocked.
One was a layup that was missed.
And then Florida Atlantic hit two free throws.
and middle ran a nice end of game play to get a three with 2.6 seconds to go just missed.
And the Owls will play in the championship game against the winner of North Texas and UAB.
Why does that matter?
You're like, why are you talking about Florida Atlantic?
Well, you know, if you're a fan of one of the big schools,
if Florida Atlantic loses tomorrow, then that will, in fact, take away a spot from any of these teams that are on the bubble.
They're going to the NCAA tournament at 29, what it would be 29 and 4.
But right now, it's a moot point.
Let's get to the best for last.
After almost three hours, Colin apparently hasn't gotten to the point yet.
Quit holding out on us, cowherd.
It's the best for last.
All right, the best for last.
We have five things you will absolutely see at OBJ's private workout.
Like, if you were fly on the wall, it's O'Dell Beckham Jr.
you know what you're going to get.
Let's go to number five.
There'll be a segment of just one-hand catches, right?
Matter of fact, maybe the entire workout is one-hand catches.
But, you know, you have to lean into your strengths.
What he's most known for, that's it, one-hand catches.
Okay.
There'll also be a portion of time in which you can run your questions.
through his associate,
Lil Wayne.
And then Little Wayne can, in turn,
Asco Del Beckham Jr.
Doesn't that just feel like the most OBJ thing ever?
I came out.
I wanted to ask you about your,
we got to go through a little way.
There'll also be a portion,
okay,
a portion of the workout
where he poses on a yacht with your jersey
just to see if the color scheme fits.
There'll also be at least a,
portion of it, a session of it, in which he helps you understand why he's going to be paid in
cryptocurrency. And lastly, there'll be a part where he explains how to properly handle yourself
after a nightclub when treated unfairly by a flight attendant because you're not responsive.
They decided to go against the hotel room portion of the workout in which there'd be substances laying around.
The hair color dye is optional.
But I think we can count on those five things for OBJ's workout, private workout with teams.
All right, Colin is back on Monday.
You heard from Adam Kaplan that we're very likely to have some sort of closure on the Aaron
Rogers to the Jets deal by next week because that's when teams have to have their cap in order.
There continues to be no apparent movement on the Lamar Jackson front as of now.
And the Dolphins, one of the destination teams everybody thought because the talent, because he's from there.
And because no one actually thinks Tua is a great quarterback.
That's the thing.
I love Dolphin.
Like, why do you talk bad about Tua?
Like, I don't have to talk about it, but he's always hurt.
he doesn't have a particularly strong arm
he's not particularly mobile
and you know
they got Tyree Kill reworked his deal but I mean they
they put dudes around him
and there's just a ceiling
he's not terrible but he's not great
it's not like the rest of those guys
so it will be fascinating to see
what happens with Lamar
I've gotten messages
and by the way you can message me at Gottlieb show on
Twitter on Instagram, Doug Gottlieb show fan page on Facebook.
Why are you so fascinated with Lamar Jackson?
Like, you're not interested in this Lamar Jackson thing?
Guy wins the Heisman Trophy, wins the MVP.
And what should have been a reasonable contract extension,
falling in line with everybody else,
the Deshawn Watson thing threw this thing out of whack and then doesn't have an agent,
et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
I think the whole thing is fascinating to see exactly.
does he sell? And look, if you've ever been in a contract negotiation with your employer,
this is a lot of times how it goes, right? Where their first offer, you feel like you're lowballed,
you feel like they not value me, what is going on here, right? That's what you think. And I just think,
man, this is how negotiations go. You'll get a new deal.
It won't be in line with Deshaun Watson, but there's no reason it can't be in line.
It can't be in line with all of the other young elite quarterbacks.
I don't think Joe Burroughs are getting five years guaranteed.
I don't think Justin Herbert is either.
And Burroughs won playoff games, plural.
Herbert is not, completely fair, but there will be extensions.
In regards to college hoops, you're going to hear a narrative.
that they're, all the teams are the same?
No, they're not.
You know?
Alabama is basically Kentucky.
Only the jerseys in the front say Alabama in terms of incredible talent.
They have a really good team.
And they have the best freshman in the country, Brandon Miller.
UCLA, problem is major injury.
I'd sell that stock in terms of a deep run in the tournament.
But the teams that have won are dominant in their own conference.
They just may not be the teams that you're.
used to.
It's not as much parody as you're led to believe.
Collins back Monday.
I'm Doug Gottliep.
This is The Hurt.
Another podcast from some SNL,
late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer,
Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
