This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On The Look Back at It Podcasts.
In 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle grahammed.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast.

Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day in the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR.
Now let's get this party started.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Bucky Brooks, Fox Sports Analyst, former NFL DB,
former Scout Panthers and Seahawks,
saw them all over the NFL network this weekend in Minnesota
with Kirk Cousins, who's in that Netflix docu series,
which has been a lot of fun.
Humanizes all those guys.
All of them come across as adults.
You know, it's interesting.
Fans love Hootspah, Baker, and Mansell,
and James Winston and Jay Cutler.
They like attitude.
And you watch Netflix quarterback.
and it's like, that's not what I want.
I want people that can compartmentalize,
raise their kids, their family,
be available to their teammates.
It really is kind of a profile
in adulthood.
That's really important.
So this is the way that we always viewed it.
When I worked with the Carolina Panthers
in the Seattle Seahawks,
that position is presidential
and field.
It's a regal position.
There was a reason why
you would see Matt Ryan suited up
in press conference.
Peyton Manning and Tom,
there's a feel that that guy outside of the owner of the team, the gentleman and head coach,
the quarterback is everything.
And he has to represent the franchise in that manner.
So his maturity has to be on point, his intelligence, his ability to talk and orate and do all those things.
That's what I see with Caleb Williams.
He comes up to me at the Super Bowl.
Caleb Williams, and he's like, hey, man, I'm not nearly as good as you think.
I'm like, I don't know if you believe it.
That's the best thing I've ever heard.
He told me, hey man, don't get caught up in all the noise.
But it's important because, look, man, you want your best player to be your hardest worker and the leader.
And ideally you want your best player to be the quarterback.
So when the quarterback has a sense of humility while also having a high sense of professionalism,
where everyone else has to fall in line.
You see it already right now with Bryce Young in Carolina and how they talk about him
and how he's handled the machine.
those things. And so as much as we talk about the physical qualities that you need and a quarterback,
it's the maturity and the intelligence and all that other stuff that really, really matters.
It doesn't matter, in my opinion, what the industry is. It could be the airline industry,
the newspaper cable. Even if it's an eroding industry, stars get paid. Jonathan Taylor,
Josh Jacobs are going to have a market. I don't love Jim Ursay's comments publicly,
but my takeaway on this is
Anthony Richardson could quite possibly gobble up
about 20% of the rushing yards.
I would consider they're pretty weak in the back end.
They could use another receiver and tight end.
I can like him.
I think he's got a trade.
Would you consider, like for instance,
I'll give you an example, Bucky.
New England's pretty rich at corner and safety.
Colts aren't and they've got a good B plus running back.
I would consider moving Jonathan Taylor,
because I think running backs, when special, still have a market.
What say you?
They still have a market.
They still are very, very important.
I think what we have to do is separate what they're getting paid
and what their market value is versus their value to the team.
Running backs are still hugely important to the way the offense operates,
depending on the level of quarterback.
I will say the greater the quarterback, the lesser the significance of the running back.
But if you have a mid-level quarterback or a rookie.
Your running back needs to be at a higher level because they have to alleviate some of the pressure on him.
And so what every team has to do is they've got to look at their quarterback and be real honest about where their quarterback is.
Because then that will determine how the domino's fall when it comes to the running back.
The thing about Jonathan Taylor right now when you have a rookie quarterback, he's very important to that office.
But I also understand Ersay's point.
right now the running back position when you look at supply and demand look you can get running backs
anywhere i hate to say it and i love the running back position i think is a big part of the championship
puzzle but let's be honest like when you've paid these guys the last few years the contracts haven't
aged well and so when you have a guy like jonathan taylor he's going to be four years in
look seven years how much are you willing to pay for what could be a depreciating after
asset. And so that's where you are right now. And it's unfortunate. And it's one of those things
where we talk about them. We could talk about Y-Receiver 2s and why do they get paid more than whatever.
But where you're at right now with running backs, you don't have to pay them. And so it kind of
is what it is when it comes to that marketplace with running backs. So Sean Payton was talking.
We have a bite we played earlier. Sean Payton talking about Russell. So Wilson and Breeze
were often comps because of size, but they're very different. One is accurate in the pocket.
not off script. He was the classic Montana Walsh distributor for the genius coach.
Russell's off script sometimes prefers the deep ball, more of a risk taker, elusive, intuitive,
more than classic playbook sit in the pocket. And as Peyton talked about him, he talked about,
well, there's nuances. It sounded like he was breaking him down and building him back up.
And I thought, well, that's not breeze. That's not the words, how do you think it works?
What is your gut on what this year looks like?
Well, I think it ends up working because Sean Payton is a great offensive mind.
And what great offensive minds would do is what you said in the clip.
He said, we're going to play the hits.
And so what he will do is trying to figure out where Russell Wilson is now in his
development of his career in terms of what he can do really well.
Try and put him in an offense where they ask him to do what he does well over and over and over again,
whether that's the bootleg pass game, whether that's deep play action, those things.
I don't believe Russell Wilson is a timing rhythm quarterback.
You talked about Drew Breeze, being able to catch it,
get to the top of the drop and the ball is out,
that's not necessarily how Russell Wilson has ever played.
Never.
And so the frustration that can come with coaching a guy like that is,
if you're an offensive coordinator that wants to run a rhythm-based offense,
he's not a rhythm-based quarterback.
And so can Sean Payton kind of get out of what he used to do at Drew Brees
and look at Russell Wilson for what he is and say,
we need to play like this.
And so you've seen them beef up the offensive line,
talk about the importance of the running game.
You need those things to work because now you can do.
more play action, which isn't as rhythmic as the way that they played in New Orleans with
Drew Breeze at the end of his career.
But yeah, it would take some time.
But Sean Payton to figure out to be the way to put Russell Wilson in the best position to
succeed.
So the quarterback tiers, 50 executive scouts, coaches, coordinators go into Mike Sando.
And it's bottom line.
There's some anonymous quotes.
I thought it was mostly accurate.
I thought the tier one guys were tier one.
The tier two guys were all great.
often more talented but maybe less consistent or there was a but but lamar gets hurt but
Trevor Lawrence has only had one great year I did think Jared Goff being buried in tier three
I think he's a better thrower of the football than Kirk cousins I think he's a more elegant
thrower than Dak Prescott gough was the only guy to me in fact there was a stat he he went at the
end of this year I forget the number like 380 throws without a pick that's hard to do in the
league you know so I when you looked at the tiers
Did anything jump out to you?
So let's talk about Jerry Gough, and I will say this.
I believe that a couple of things did Jerry Gough a disservice.
One, hard knocks his rookie season.
So everyone saw him kind of out of source.
He looked like he was out of his element.
It was too hard, complex.
And so it put him in a bad light.
So now you don't think that you don't view him as a high IQ guy that kind of runs everything.
The second thing, Sean McVeigh's wizardry or the reputation that Shia,
Sean McVeigh had has been an offensive wizard.
People talked about him talking to Jared Gough throughout the thing when they were playing
with tempo so the mic could stay on, the headpiece could say on.
So now that took away from Jerry Gave because now we're saying, oh, it's not him.
It's Sean McVeigh.
And so he's never had an opportunity to really be viewed as a high-end guy.
Despite being the number one overall pick, it's always been like he's been a throwaway
or a byproduct of this offensive ingenuity that Sean McVeigh has brought.
I think Detroit has helped him.
What they were able to do last year, the way they threw the ball all over the yard,
the way they were really, really difficult for people to defend,
I believe there should be more respect put on Jared Gough's name for what he is.
I'm not saying he's a tier one, a quarterback,
but he certainly should be a tier two quarterback because in my mind, he's a pretty good player.
So Jordan loves interesting.
He's big enough, he moves well.
every time he talks, he sounds like a smart kid.
He's been in the system.
They have a good offensive coach, good backs,
very young at skill position outside of Christian Watson.
It's a bunch of question marks.
But I mean, I joke, it's the Loch Ness monster.
I've got a couple of pieces of film or pictures I know nothing about.
But Burroughs' first camp,
Mahomes' first camp, Herbert's first game.
Nobody could hide the fact this was juice.
I got nothing in three years.
I'm going to be cynical on this.
My gut is it's not pretty.
What am I supposed to think?
Three years, Coach?
Three years, Bucky.
I got nothing.
I don't got a piece of video.
We don't have this practice.
Three years.
I mean, we're talking about practice.
I was here about, we're ready to get rid of my God.
Eric Rogers, you were getting.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
So, Aaron Rogers and Jordan loves careers in parallel.
If you go back and you Google and read up on
what was happening in Greenberg, those first two preseason,
Aaron Rogers was not lighting it up for the Green Bay Pack.
It wasn't to that third preseason that he kind of settled in and came into his own,
where then you thought, okay, well, maybe this could work.
They went around 500's first year.
Then the next year, it took off.
I think for Jordan Love is very similar.
Slow development, slow pacing.
Now he settles in.
Now he's more comfortable as a pro.
But really, to me, this is all about Matt LaFloor and what does Matt LaFleur do.
Because he stepped into a job.
I won't say it's easy.
you had a Hall of Fame quarterback ready to go.
So you could skip steps when it came to installing your offense.
Well, now with Jordan Love, okay, guys, we may need to be a little more ball control.
We need to run it a little more.
We go and get tight ends in the draft because we've got to control the middle of the field.
And maybe we become more of a move the sticks type offense as opposed to the big play
offense that they used to be.
To me, Jordan Love has been solid.
I like what I've seen from him in the offseason in terms of how he's handled the team.
I like what the team has said about him.
Yes, he has to put it in play.
But the Packers would be fine.
The Packers would be okay.
All right.
So during the break, he's very controversial.
I'm not.
Oh, okay.
I'm America's honesty broker.
I put it out.
He's out there throwing haymakers.
Yes.
So he said during the break, he said,
you think Stafford's going to be here?
So there's a lot of talk.
Stafford's got a new fun house on the beach in L.A.
He was beat up last year.
By the way, Stafford acknowledges.
Stafford acknowledges what we reported.
They did try to restructure his deal, soften the blow on the cap space.
What do you may – I cannot see them being horrible.
They have Donald Cup, Stafford McVeigh, Havenstein.
They got good players at key spots.
They'll be fine, not great.
That's my take.
You think they're going to be bad?
No, what's fine.
Fine is 500, 8, 9?
That's what we're talking about.
Yeah.
Okay, let me ask you this.
7 and 10, 8, 9.
Stafford there in a year.
Oh, no, I think they have to, I think, I think that the bill comes to.
The bill comes to, he's played a long time, he's won a Super Bowl, he's made a lot of money.
The salary cap is going to be at some point, we have to turn the page.
They've got to find their quarterback of the future.
Now, I don't believe it's going to be Stetson Bennett, but at some point they have to find.
So you think they draft a quarterback first pick?
Oh, yeah, and I think next year is a year where you may have an opportunity to get some quarterbacks.
There's a nice, intriguing young classic quarterbacks that are coming into the league next year.
I think this is, I think this is it.
This has to be the time where Sean McVeigh, if he's going to continue to do this dance with the ramps,
he has to find the young quarterback, the next guy that can kind of take the baton from Stafford
and get them going into the next phase.
All right.
So, Goff got you to a Super Bowl loss.
Stafford got you to a Super Bowl and win.
So your take is they go.
I mean, listen, Ewers, Caleb Williams, Drake May, Michael Panics.
I'm not as huge on Bowenicks as everybody else.
But they're all to say
The one thing that we know is
As it plays out like
Caleb Williams and Drake May
will be the conversation
There will always be someone else
Who emerges
No one thought about Anthony Richardson
Anthony Richardson.
Anthony Richardson emerged as the guy
So who is going to be
The third quarterback that emerges
In this I would say
Intriguing quarterback class
You talk about Quinn Ewers
We can talk about Michael Penn
So you were a scout
When Andrew Luck came out
Right you?
Yeah
Okay so is Caleb or Andrew Luck
the same class in terms of very few weaknesses?
What did they say about Andrew Luck?
What was the knock on?
I mean, look, man, like high IQ guy, he was a better athlete than people gave him credit for.
His athleticism tested on par with what Cam Newton was, even though he didn't play this style.
I mean, like, you could nitpick in those things.
He stayed around college a long time.
So Caleb would be nitpicked a lot.
So you have to ignore all the stuff that said Dixier and just think about how special he is.
What he is is a little different because he's a high-end.
athlete who was also a high-end playmaker from the pocket. It's rare that you find a guy that
can do those things. So people are talking about Pat Mahomes. He wasn't, he's not the gun slinging
that Pat Mahomes was at Texas Tech. He's more refined. He's more refined. He does it. I know you love
it because you love the Trojans. Like he has Lincoln, Rale, and they go throw it all over the yard,
and they got playmakers abound and those things. And so he's going to look great. I mean, look,
it's his to lose in terms of the number one spot. He is everything that you look for in the position.
You say I love the travels.
Oh, my God.
It's just a love fest over here with the Trojans.
All I do is report the love fest.
A love fest.
Well, they're pretty.
I'm waiting for you to go out with traveling, just walk him out and just bring them out.
Like, one of those games early in the year, like in the college, I see you just trotting them out.
I'm a journalist.
Big J.
Journalism.
No favoritism.
Bucky Brooks, Fox Sports, NFL analyst.
So you were hanging out at the Vikings practice because I flew back and I watched.
I watched the whole thing.
Boy, Kevin O'Connell could talk.
Hey, man, that's my guy, Kevin O'Connell.
Holy, moly.
Look, he's great.
And what I love about Kevin, like, having watched him first,
got him as a player, and then, like, got to start together.
We were on the opening tour.
He was coaching high school guys, and now he goes, and he gets it.
A couple things that he has.
He has been blessed a few different ways.
One, he's been around, Shannon Hans and Sean McVeigh and all that stuff.
So he has all of that new stuff that everyone wants.
But he played in New England.
So he has that old-school thought about complimentary
football and how would all the pieces of the puzzle all go together.
And so the Vikings, I know everyone expects them to take a step back because of some of the
veteran losses.
We talked about this.
People are selling their Viking stock.
So they're selling stock because they won 11, one score games.
But here's where he benefit.
Brian Flores coming over, having another head coach would experience another high-end,
like high- IQ defensive coordinator.
They're going to be fine.
They're not as talented, but the toughness is going to be there from the defense.
and he is really good in terms of putting Justin Jefferson in a spot to be able to get the touches.
I think they're a playoff team.
Oh, yeah, I wouldn't count them out.
He has it.
And year two, four more comfortable as a head coach play call it than year one.
It's hard.
I forgot about Brian Flores.
Yeah.
Brian was a, we've said this before.
Brian was intense.
Now, he may have worn out to a, but it's like Vic Fangio.
You can't tell me he's not a great coach.
No.
Some guys aren't quite.
ready for the room, but Brian was unbelievable.
Unbelievable defensive coordinator.
I would say he should be a head coach, but you get that present.
So now what it does is he can entrust the defensive side of the ball to Brian Floyd's
and really focus on being a great offensive play caller and head coach.
It should work well in Minnesota.
Buckney, what a pleasure.
It's great, man.
You keep it up.
Spent a minute.
My two favorite guys that like to stir it up.
No, no.
That's what he does.
I'm here to keep it right on journalism.

J. Mack with the News.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
I don't know, I kind of like that.
He said we stir it up.
Maybe we come in with chef's hats.
We're cooking up some problems.
Is that our new brand, chef hats tomorrow?
We got a lot of stuff cooking.
Bucky, love it.
By the way, Bucky's podcast, if you listen to it with Daniel Jeremiah.
Good stuff.
Yeah, I like it.
Mark, guys.
All right, we've seen a lot of lists this offseason, Colin.
Let's, you know, ranking the top five and top 10 players.
Mike Evans of Tampa was asked about who is the top receiver in the NFL right now.
And you might be surprised to hear what Mike Evans said.
I know where I'm at.
My opinion matters more than anybody else because I watch all these.
guys. And there are a lot of bleep, great players. But I'll take myself over anybody. If people
were in my situation, there's only five to ten guys in history who have done what I've done.
It's been a battle, so I enjoy it. Well, Marcus Lattimore gave him problems. I think Justin Jefferson
won, Devonte Adams two, Jamar Chase three, and then we can talk about four.
Stefan Diggs maybe. I think, I think Justin Jefferson. We're just talking right now, right?
Yeah, no, Justin Jefferson is the best receiver in the league,
and I think Devonte Adams is two, Jamar Chase, three,
and then we can argue about four.
It ain't Mike Evans.
Probably Stefan Diggs.
Yeah.
Tyreak Hill is not sexy.
He's good.
Tyreek Hill is very good weapon.
But Andy Reid would not have gotten rid of Justin Jefferson.
I don't have, or Jamar Chase.
Interesting.
Tyreek Hill, not that he's gadgety, but it's,
It's world-class speed.
It's certainly valuable.
But I like Mike Evans a lot.
Some robust career averages.
Also, our stat teams here says he's the only player in NFL history with 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his first nine years in the league.
Like, he's good.
I'm not denying that.
To be the best receiver, to be a top five receiver, it's never been deeper.
There's so much talent.
I think the problem here is he's going from Tom Brady to Kyle Trask or Baker-Mayfield.
That is a collabinous drop-off.
I mean, I could see Evans complaining more and asking out at the deadline as opposed to, like, putting up big numbers with Trasker Mayfield.
Well, they have some receiving talent.
They're going to sell pieces.
I mean, that's one of my, that's one of the easy ones.
At the deadline, Tampa's moving off dudes.
They're going to be like one in six.
And they're going to want to lose games.
And in that division, it could be hard because Atlanta, you don't know what Atlanta is.
So maybe Evans is on the market.
He's still very good.
He gets dinged up a little bit, but he's still very productive.
Deadly in the red zone.
All right, we talked about Nathaniel Hackett's time with the Broncos.
But now that he's with the Jets, there's a funny story going around
about how he gets players to remember the playbook better.
I'll let Alan Lazard explain it to you.
His style of teaching makes things so easy to remember.
I mean, he gets a room of grown men to make animal noises.
and it may not make too much sense, but like it's pertaining to the play, whether it's a name,
whether it's a whale, a kangaroo, a pony, a shark, you know, you'd have to sit in the meetings to hear.
But he's the only person that can get grown men to do something like that.
I've never experienced something like that ever in my playing career.
Well, it's interesting.
Ready for an exclusive plot line on Hard Knocks?
The Nathaniel Hackett image rebranding.
He is an awesome guy.
Look at how he gets these receivers in the room with animal noises.
That's going to happen.
They're going to make Hackett look good.
Did they say shark noises?
I didn't know sharks made noises.
It's a mammal.
What's a shark noise?
Blood curdling screens.
Yeah, it's what is he's chomping on somebody's.
Yeah, I think Hackett's going to be portrayed in Hardin.
Knox as like a nice guy. Well, Aaron's going to make a point of making Hackett look really good
in Hartnoggs. He'll make a point of it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets went to Hard Knocks and we're like,
hey, these are the things we want to show. Like, only positive Zach Wilson stuff. We're off
the negative. Nathaniel Hackett must be portrayed in a positive light. Like, it's going to be
kind of fluffy, I would expect. You know, the Jets, I just, I'm so excited. And I'm
rarely, you know, there's football tomorrow night on TV. Who? Jets, Browns.
Zach Wilson's officially starting. They just said it. Is that the Hall of Fame game? Yeah.
Are you not excited for this?
I didn't even know it.
I'm in a baseball mood.
I got a shift right now.
So the Jets Browns play tomorrow.
I'm almost certain it's tomorrow.
Did somebody give me a heads up on that?
So Zach Wilson's going to start.
Yeah, they said he's starting.
No Aaron Rogers, sorry.
Well, yeah, he shouldn't play.
I don't want to see one snap in the preseason.
Not one.
All right, let's wrap up with baseball since you're so obsessed with it now.
The Nets had that fire sale shipping away Justin Verlander to the Astros.
Max Scher was also dealt a couple days ago, and he broke down why he approved.
his no trade clause and accepted a move to the Texas Rangers.
Had to talk with Billy.
And with Billy, you know, he asked, you know, kind of what's going on,
what's our viewpoint of the deadline.
And more importantly, what's the view for 2024?
And his answer was that the team is now kind of shifting vision
and that they're looking to compete now for 2025 and 2026.
in that, you know,
2024, it was not going to be a reload situation in New York
and that it was going to be more of a transition in 2024.
I think Mets fans were excited about that.
And also there's video here of the Mets losing last night.
I'm sure you watch this since you're watching so much baseball.
I'm not watching so much baseball.
They went down to the Royals on a basis-loaded walk.
The Mets did.
Yeah, here's a video right here.
That's a tough way to go.
I told you this year about a year ago.
I don't know why it was.
I'm sorry, bases loaded balk, not a walk.
Oh, that's even worse.
Oh, dear.
Poor Mets fans, man.
That is brutal.
Yeah, but I mean, that's just their...
So if you're a Mets fan and, you know, they spent a lot to pump up for this season and it's a failure and they're like, oh, we're just going to have a transition year in 2024.
You're a Mets fan, you hear that?
You're like billionaire guy.
Does he have any clue what he's doing?
Spending now transition year?
What's a transition year for you?
I don't know.
really have transition years. I don't even know what that means. In pro sports, with that payroll,
transition to what? So I think you've got to figure out where the bad eggs are in the locker
room, expunge them. Well, shouldn't you do that before you acquire people? You can't do a little homework?
They thought they had something good and they just like, oh, let's spend some money and they try to
throw money at their problem. It's so funny. Met fans, I'm sure, lash out at all their critics.
They all disappeared once it went south. It's very easy to be a fan and never be accountable.
If you want to talk trash, where's Metfan today?
Once again, you're a laughing stock.
Own it.
We've got to be out here every day.
Got to own it a little bit.
They're the laughing stock of the sport.
Again, they are.
Their payroll is insane.
J-MAC with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Aaron Rogers needs to win.
New York Sports needs an over-achieving team.
Yankees underachieve, Mets underachieved.
That's what I'm saying.
Jalen Brunson for the next 10 years could be the star in New York.
Let's be real.
Everybody needs to win.
You look around the league.
I know, but it's like...
Justin Herbert needs to win.
New York has been underachieving for a decade in everything.
Yankees, Mets, Brooklyn Nets, the KD.
Kyrie. Kyrie.
Like, that city is in a bad run.
They need the Jets to win.
I mean, that's why I keep saying this.
New York, oh, it doesn't necessarily have a bad run.
bunch of great players, but they've always had kind of a Jeter or an Eli. There's Aaron Judge.
There's a centerpiece. Jalen Brunson to me is the centerpiece potentially of that city for the
next 10 years. Smart, Villanova, hardworking, really good player. Just don't take the ball out
of his hands. Give him shooters. Give him defenders. He's kind of a small average defender. He could
be the star of that city for a long time. So what do you say? Just Jalen Brunson get in the
next to the playoffs? That's a win? No. I think they're one smart move.
from being a very, very viable team.
They're a good team now with a lot of movable pieces and movable draft picks.
You could say the same for the Jets.
Seven and ten last year.
We're one quarterback away.
Yeah, but Aaron's not going to be there forever.
Brunson could finish his career in New York.
Aaron Judge could finish his career.
Aaron's there max three years.
I'm talking centerpiece.
Like, L.A.'s got so many great players.
There is no centerpiece.
I mean, Chipper Jones forever in Atlanta, you know, was the centerpiece of Atlanta sports.
I think Jalen Brunt, Aaron Judge or Jalen Brunson, but the difference is, I think, whereas the Yankees, their roster's not very good.
The Knicks are very interesting.
They are one move.
If you've got Mitchell Robinson, whoever it is, if you put Carl Anthony Towns on that team tomorrow with Jalen Brunson, you'd probably have to move Randall.
Are they still better than the Bucks or Celtics, though?
They're real close.
Like, I'm excited.
I love Jalen Brunson, but they're not better than the two top teams.
They're just not.
And if Miami gets Dame, they're not better than Miami either.
So, like, I could argue that Aaron Rogers makes the Jets the centerpiece of New York for the next two years.
He may.
What's a bigger story in New York than Aaron Rogers?
I mean, they might sign Dalvin Cook here.
Who knows?
Next 48 hours out of them.
You're trying to talk that puppy into existence.
That's not what they need.
They need more protection for Aaron.
Go get a right tackle.
There isn't one out there.
There's not a right tackle that's just a shiny and perfect city.
You know what?
Tampa Bay by week five.
Go get one.
Tampa's selling parts by week five or six.
Go get one.
And you know what?
The Jets might say shucks.
By the week five,
we could be one and three.
The Raiders may be selling parts.
Call Colton Miller,
left tackle.
I'm just telling you that you got to get that tackle.
But there's a lot of maybe out there.
Daven Cook is out there to be had.
And they've got two running backs that are more than capable.
One of them's coming off a major injury.
And who's the other one?
Michael Carter.
No,
it's a nice run.
It's a good backup back.
Come on.
He's a nine carry two cash guy.
He's a nine carry running back.
Breeze Hall's 12 carries three.
We don't, it doesn't, listen, listen,
The Jets are being KG.
It doesn't sound like he's going to be there like weeks one or two or three.
And you know the season could be lost.
You gave the stats.
You start 0 and 2.
What, 12% chances?
You're done.
I was listening closely.
You guys lose to Buffalo?
Stop.
Just don't put that bad energy out there.
Be positive.
That's a U issue, not me.
I'm being positive.
I got to be honest.
They're beating the bills.

is a six-point favorite
opening up against the Rams.
Looks like some places, Colin, it's
minus five and a half for the Seahawks.
I'm taking the Rams plus five and a half.
Rams on the road, week one.
You don't even want to wait to see what's up with Cooper Cup?
He's going to be fine. It was
hamstring. So I
think... I already bet that game. That's done.
Okay. So... Blasing five,
I've already... It's down at Blazing four.
I would be careful with the Rams.
My only word would be look
at the totals for the Rams, because their defense is
to give up points to everyone, but we agree
Stafford can match them on the scoreboard.
Okay, give me, can you look up?
The total's 46.5.
That seems a little bit light, in my
opinion. That's a lot of
points to give up for a 46 point line.
Five and a half in a
2320 game. Five and a half,
that's what it's going to look like. McVeigh,
offensive coaches in openers,
Andy Reed, tend to bring out tricks and be
clever. That's way too many points
to the Rams. What is the opening
line, Colts, Jags.
All right. Fox has them all listed, so I got to find
the game. Colts, Jaguars, Week 1,
Jags minus 3 and a half.
Oh, Colts plus 3 and a half at home.
Already bet it. I'm down to a blazing 3.
And you don't care who the starter is, whether it's
Minshew or Richardson.
It's going to be Richardson, and we have no idea
what it's going to look like.
So you don't know the quarterback or Jonathan Taylor
situation, and you like the Colts.
The Colts have a very good O line. The Jags D line is
okay, ball control.
Division rival over a field goal.
Colts plus three and a half, Rams plus five and a half.
Now I'm probably going to screw the lines up now because I'm giving you money in America.
So these are on Fox Sports.com.
How about this one?
New England.
What are they getting against Philadelphia?
New England is they are at home?
Let's see here.
Yes, home.
Patriots at home and the Eagles are favored by four on the
road. Okay, so that, I got my three underdog picks for opening week. New England plus
four. Again, no Shane Steichen, Belichick, great, great, very good against younger
quarterbacks. Jalen Hertz isn't a kid, but he's still a pup with a new O.C.
What about the Patriot struggles against running dynamic quarterbacks? That's been an issue
the last couple years. Give me one more, Pittsburgh, San Francisco.
Well, that's the game that I've circled.
Get me, I'm all over that one. Pittsburgh's getting what?
Well, the line has come down.
I'm currently seeing 49ers minus two and a half.
You love that way more at three if you can get Tomlin getting a field goal.
Can you give me one more?
Yeah, I'll give you the Jets.
Cowboys.
Oh, Cowboys Giants. That's got to be a big spread, right?
Cowboys.
What are the New York Giants getting?
Much better team.
And why am I not finding Cowboys?
Oh, Cowboys, minus three and a half on the road.
So I get the Giants at home three and a half.
Yeah.
I think you got to take Giants there.
My Blazing 5 is done.
I don't even have to show up until the first Friday of the football season.
Have you seen Matthew McConaughey 2 for the money?
No.
So he goes on this heater and does awesome.
And then he gets all cocky and he's like,
I'll give you next week's picks.
And then he just looks through and circles his picks.
And he bombs and goes like, you know, one for 10 or whatever.
It feels a little irrational to be doing the Blazid 5 on August 2nd.
Can we wait for a couple preseason games to happen?
I mean, what if Bailey Zappi's supposed?
prizes it as a starter week.
I don't want to.
No gambler has ever said,
what if Bailey Zappy?
Those words have never been uttered by a
You had pins for Bailey Zappy in my favorite segment.
They didn't sell, so I got rid of them.
Nobody wanted them.
Don't play like crappy or it's
Bailey Zappy.
Okay, we're done here. I'm done talking.
Good stuff. Bucky Brooks was money.
Tom Berducci's a Hall of Famer.
We'll see you tomorrow.
First things first coming up next.
