This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,
but celebrated.
So let's get to it.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And for more behind the scenes,
follow at Clifford and at TikTok's podcast network on TikTok.
Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast.
Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio
and noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific.
Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRadio.com
or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app
by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR.
Now let's get this party started.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Cam Jordan, eight pro-Bulls, 13 years, just played his 200th game at the Colts.
He's going to be a Hall of Famer.
He's joining us on Halloween.
Okay, let's start with this.
You got a new quarterback, and Derek's very outspoken.
He's screaming at this guy and screaming at that guy and young guy.
Nobody likes to be screamed at.
It's just the reality of Tom Brady would be screaming at Josh McDaniels and barking at receivers.
Drew Breeze wasn't really kind of that guy from what I could tell.
Does it take a while to get used to Derek who tends to be very vocal, very loud and verbal on a certain place?
How is it working?
Don't you want a competitive quarterback?
Look, I get it.
We're in 2023 where the world is a lot more sensitive to everybody's feelings.
If this happened in 2007 or even when I started playing high school football, you know, back in the early 2000s, nobody would care.
Shoot, you know, people, the fire and brimstone way is now overbearing.
And that's not even close to what Derek is.
I mean, if he has fervor because he wants to a receiver to run the right way, like, I'm sorry he's a very emotionally intuned person and wants to compete at a high.
high level. That is just a part of football for me. So I'm on the other side of this. I'm like,
what are you talking about? If he's upset, shouldn't he voice his opinion? Like, if anything,
let's talk about it now and get it right the next time. Yeah. So you have games like, you know,
this past game in Indianapolis where you see the offense put up 30-some odd points. We like that
part. Yeah. So you had Dan Campbell. You know Dan. I didn't like his opening press conference
when he talked about eating kneecaps, but I will say those dudes play so hard for him.
And by the way, there are a couple of coaches out there.
Mike Tomlin's one of them that they have a physical presence.
Mike Vrable has this.
Like they look like players.
Tell me about Dan.
He's really hit it out of the park.
He seems like the sweetest guy in the world, the gentle giant.
Are you surprised by him?
General Giant.
He played, what, 10 years at the tight-in position?
It's Dan Campbell.
He's got, you know, the resume to back it up as a former player, Anthony Browner,
say the leaving resumee, you know, he has, he has that.
He's put in the work as a player.
He's now put in the work as a tight-ins coach, as an offensive coach.
And then as a head coach, you know, the guys were down on them the first year out because of a press conference.
But all I saw was energy and the love to compete.
Yeah.
And he buys in.
You know, he's so bought into it.
You can't help but know that it's infectious to where players now, what is he,
his third year over there?
Yeah.
Yeah, they love it.
Third year over there, guys are fully bought in.
They're sort of led.
You know, you pick up an Alex Anzalone from the Saints, bring him with, and he's a captain,
and he's making big impact plays.
You draft well, Aidan Hutchison over there, making big plays.
You saw Jemir Gibbs, you know, go off.
They call it a breakout game for him, but you knew the talent that he was from Alabama.
so it makes sense for their third year's stride.
This is probably the year that you want to see their team makes strides.
Now, they're led by a Cal quarterback, so you can't knock it.
That's right.
That's right.
Those Cal quarterbacks, they're very smart.
Cal guys are always smart.
Okay.
So Sean Payton, who you know well, goes to Denver.
Now, that was a bit of a mess.
You got a lot of things to clean up.
and Sean's really blunt?
He doesn't suffer fools gladly.
It was really turbulent.
It does look like the last couple of weeks.
He's gotten everything right.
It takes a while.
You know this.
New quarterback, new coach.
Can't solve this stuff in an hour.
Were you surprised by the turbulence
of the Sean Payton, Denver stuff for the first six weeks?
No.
No, not at all.
You have to be able to shake it out sometimes.
and Sean's definitely a shaker.
If he doesn't feel that things are going the right way,
he'll shake things up, as you can see.
But again, this is year one.
Do you expect immediate success?
Maybe because of Sean Payton, the answer would be yes.
But, you know, he's on a new team.
He's going to sort things out, get things going his way,
and get that ship's sailed going the right way.
I'm just, you know, thinking like there's a lot of expectations for a year one head coach.
Let's give him two, two years.
years and, three years and see what happens there. That being said, yeah, it's Sean. Sean's going
talk the way he's always talked and walked the way he's always walked. And I assume the ship
will be right. Yeah. So it's trade deadline today. Has there ever been in your 13 seasons?
Were you ever part of a team that added somebody at the trade deadline and it was beneficial
that it worked because we've gotten a couple moves today and we still got an hour and a half.
are you a fan of the trade deadline?
Are you a fan cam of adding somebody to your team almost mid-season?
I stay in my lane, Colin.
On that one, I stay in my lane.
I'm happy that I have never been a part of the trade deadline.
And when I see, you know, teammates come and go,
I think the Vikings just traded for Josh Dobbs.
You know, I don't know if the Saints have ever made a major trade during the deadline
in a positive way.
I think the last super major change that we saw was probably Jimmy Graham leaving to go to Seattle.
So I guess we got Matt Unger and he was a heck of a center.
Yes.
But you lost a perennial pro bowler and Jimmy Graham at what was his beginning of his prime.
And then he goes to Seattle and you're not going to see that much the success that he had here
because they tried to make him a blocking tight in when he was a thousand yard receiving tight end.
But I mean, either way.
So, you know, we cut a good job.
We got a good deal there, I guess, if you're going to say who got a better version,
we got Max Unger.
Yep.
And we knew how to use him versus we sent the Jimmy Graham off to Seattle who didn't know how to use them.
Right.
By the way, that was my least favorite Pete Carroll move at the time.
I love Max Unger.
He was great for you guys.
You nailed it.
Graham was a pass catching tight end, not a blocker.
And he was ineffective in Seattle.
So the danger to it is the personality, what is the fit?
It's hard in this league to throw people into a room and create inertia and momentum and get along with guys.
It's just hard to win.
You guys were at the Bears this week, so you don't know much about their quarterback situation.
You know, it's interesting.
Your career, you've got Drew Breeze, you've got Derek Carr, you've had good quarterback play.
You're going to Chicago.
They've never had, and I'm dead serious, in the history of the franchise, they've never had like a pro-bowl-level elite quarterback ever for,
extended period.
When you face teams...
They had Jay Cutler.
Well, for an hour.
The guy that could make all the throws.
Just didn't enough.
That's how I'm going to leave it.
They guys would make all the throws.
So when you face these young quarterbacks,
can you tell Cam instantly or over the course of a game,
if the kid is afraid, over his skis,
I mean, what can you tell with a young quarterback?
Can you look at his eyes?
Listen to him.
Do you have a sense very early?
This is going to work or this is not going to work?
No, not at all.
You have no idea.
You feel like a young quarterback, I don't, I'm not excited to play a young quarterback
because you don't know what's going to happen in it.
What film am I breaking down?
His college film?
That was when he probably had the bento line that he's ever going to have going to
had going against some guys that have talent, but not pro-level talent.
You know, I don't even know what school he came from.
Some school in West Virginia.
Yeah.
That's a B-2 joint.
I was reading about it, and I was like, so I don't know his level of his level of play anyways.
So I'm trying, I'm breaking down his last game.
Like, all right, so he scrambles a little bit.
He can move well.
You sort of want that veteran quarterback that you know his tendencies.
You know where he likes to be.
the last four weeks of it you know we've played less this season alone you know we played three or four
quarterbacks that i knew nothing about yeah um the college film just doesn't give what you do in the
pros you know you're like oh he can move well no he can move really well you know you go against
the brys yons the c j strouds um you're catching these quarterbacks that are getting the ball out
because their coaches are trying to make their load management easy which is frustrating as a rusher
yay another week of a quarterback who this guy last game was averaging release at what like
like 2.2, like it's frustrating.
So yay us, it's going to be up to us to put together a game plan to make him ineffective
and also make sure he doesn't escape the pocket.
And I can tell you where he likes to escape the pocket.
You know, these young kids, they don't have mannerisms yet.
They're forming their habits now.
Yeah.
All right.
Cam's got a new podcast called Off the Edge with Cam Jordan.
It's an I-Heart Radio, their app.
That's where you're going to find the best podcast.
Drew Brees, Vaughn Miller, Max Crosby.
I love Max Crosby.
the way. Max Crosby is like a martial artist on the edge. He's one of my favorite guys in the
entire league. He's crazy. Do you ever watch like a Max Crosby, Cam, and take a move and watch
his hands or feet? Do you ever steal anything from another edge rusher?
So, Max is my guy. I still moves from everybody. And I love, you know, when I was younger,
just getting to the league, I was watching, you know, the Darnell Dockets, the Cleas Campbell's
coming from Arizona, of course. You know, I used to watch Carlos Dansby. Oh, and you know, I used to watch Carlos Dansby,
or whoever it was, Brooks Reed.
Then out of my own draft class, I was watching Vaughn,
and I was watching Alam Smith,
and I was watching Ryan Kerrigan,
and of course, Justin Houston,
you know, Muhammad Wilkerson at the time, Cam Hayward.
I was looking at Marcel Darry's getting jiggy from the nose position.
I'm here to watch any and everybody get after the quarterback
and see what I can take from it.
It was Calais's arm over that I already had.
I was like, how do I make that more clean?
It was, you know, Von Miller with his, once he established his speed,
he'd go to that long arm, he had great long arms.
You look at, you know, me growing up, I was watching Chris Dolman and John Randall as a kid in Minnesota.
Like, there was no way I couldn't not want to be a defensive lineman and not know how to
rush the passer and take all these moves away from people.
I need all of them to enter my bag.
Yeah.
All right, Cam Jordan.
It's called Off the Edge with Cam Jordan.
You're watching them right there.
I Heart Radio App.
wherever you get your pods.
Buddy, we got to run.
It's great seeing on the trade deadline day.
Continued success for the Saints.
I appreciate you guys having me on.
You know, I don't know how you do this daily.
Like, I'm doing this weekly now.
And I'm like, huh, this is sort of trying to talk about, you know,
to talk about football, to talk about, you know, to talk to people every day.
I'm like, okay, I see what you did there.
So, you know, off the edge is simply that.
I'm off the edge too because I'm also influenced by my emotions of whether we won or
lost and I'm trying to be neutral.
And I don't have that in me.
Neutral's overrated.
More way.
Neutral's overrated.
To more wins and better rants.
Yeah.
You just be you.
People want you.
That's my secret to broadcasting.
Be you.
Be emotional.
Be honest.
People will love it.
Off the edge.
Good seeing you, man.
Appreciate it.
Take it easy.
Trade deadline.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because.
of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
Podcasts.
Exciting stuff.
J. Mack with the news.
No.
No.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Okay, dokey.
There was another trade in the NFL.
We'll get to it shortly.
Not a big one, not a big one.
Let's start with the NBA
DiAngelo Russell.
How about this, Colin?
Huge for the Lakers
down the stretch last night.
12 of his 28 and the 4th.
L.A. comes back for a
too close for comfort
win over the Orlando Magic.
D. Lowe had eight
assists, made 10 of 14.
shots, Anthony Davis, 26 and 19, only took three free throw attempts.
I don't love that. I need my Anthony Davis down low, banging, getting to the line.
He doesn't like that.
That's not going to work.
LeBron played on a back-to-back, scored 19.
Lakers, they didn't look good on the back-to-back.
It's tough in the NBA.
Well, it's really tough for LeBron because he probably at this point should not be playing back-to-backs ever.
Again, coming into the season, my take is 58 games for LeBron.
I'd take it right now.
Yeah, the league does not want that.
I know, but the play, you know, the league's trying to stop that, but it's not working.
Have you noticed?
Guys that want off take off.
You can keep finding them, but the league wants its stars to play because analytics prove
playing fewer games doesn't prevent injuries.
It doesn't.
We've already seen the quotes and the data.
It doesn't.
But stars are now used to it.
It's like if you give your kid an allowance and then you decide to cut it off.
And you said, you know, the allowance does not prove that you're going to spend the money wisely.
And your kids are like, yeah, but I'm used to it.
So is there a psychological aspect to this?
I know you're a big time athlete.
Yeah, sure.
I like to think I am.
So I have a whoop, you know, that tracks all your sleep and everything.
And sometimes you'll wake up and see that you had a crappy night's sleep.
And they're like, you need to get rest.
You need a nap.
No.
And what if my guys are playing pick up basketball?
Do I say no?
Because my body is telling me, AJ, don't play.
I mean, I want to play with my buddy.
Should I not play?
Like, can you imagine now LeBron in the NBA?
His body might be telling him, I shouldn't go.
I shouldn't go.
But the rules say I need to play.
We just have so much more information than we did 10, 20, 30 years ago.
And I think some of it's very valuable, and some of it.
The NBA is saying we looked at load management.
It does not prevent injuries.
Well, maybe not prevent injuries, but, you know, are you going to play as good if your body is worn down?
Time out.
Time out.
Of playing and you're not good.
So you only get a play when your body's perfect?
You're not a pro athlete.
Not perfect, but everybody in the NFL's banged up.
Play.
This idea I'm only playing.
Let's not compare NFL to NBA.
Okay, well, the idea that NBA guy is making $30 million a year, you know, I'm going to be a little less efficient tonight.
Yeah, and I'm going to be a little poor for paying for the tickets to watch you play.
Get out there.
What does that mean?
Like, you only play, you don't think baseball guys with 162, you got a hangover, you got a little pulled hammy.
They need a second baseman.
You got to go play.
Hockey guys, you're getting bang on the boards all night?
This whole thing about, well, there is data that shows if you play back-to-back, you're not quite as efficient.
So what?
How many of us are efficient for the eight hours a day we work?
Can you play back-to-back days of tennis?
Can you do that?
I can do back-to-back anything.
I ski three days in a row.
Now, the third day, yeah.
And by the way, each night I'm out partying.
You're living it up.
Yeah, so I've never ever gone skiing and not had a beer after skiing.
That's customary.
That is annual.
That's perpetual.
Well, LeBron does the red wine.
Colin does, what do you drink?
What do you, Bud Light, Heineken?
I drink my own beer.
Drafts.
Her draft picks, that's right.
Oh, geez, he's got his own beer.
Geez.
Okay, all right.
Let's go back to the NFL.
Teams coming off a Super Bowl appearance,
appearance often struggled to find that same success the next year.
Eagles, though, not impacted.
Seven and one.
One of the best teams in the NFL,
Nick Siriani, spoke about how they've stayed so competitive.
You just take it one step at a time.
That's what we call our dog mentality.
We're just completely locked into the moment and nothing else.
Our guys don't blink.
That's easier said than done.
Eagles three-point favorites against the Cowboys this week.
Like him.
You like who?
First time in my life.
I told the staff this morning that I am a underdog fan.
Took a lot of underdogs in week one.
Terrible week.
Worst week I've had in years.
I've been taking favorites and the better quarterback.
Whenever I can, I have like five out of the last six weeks or four or five winning weeks.
I won again this week.
I won with the Cowboys.
I won with the Lions.
I took the better quarterback, the healthier quarterback.
I looked at the games this week.
I do not remember ever thinking this.
I liked five favorites.
Interesting.
And the Eagles are one of them.
Yep.
Now I like Houston's a favorite.
I like them.
That was one of my better picks.
That's yours yesterday.
I like Cincinnati against Buffalo.
Did you see that line move?
It opened, I think, Buffalo minus one.
And everybody in their mom was betting on the Bengals,
except to three.
So I got to tell you, this is weird.
So you don't want to wait and see injury reports for Jalen Hurts and Jalen Carter?
I'm going to wait.
Yes, I'm absolutely going to wait.
But I'm telling you, my initial look, I liked five, I liked five favorites.
The two dogs that I'm interested in, Jets plus three, but I won't bet the Chargers in a big spot.
And then I thought the Bears plus seven and a half, they'll lose to the Saints.
But that's a lot of points.
Well, who's starting?
Is Justin Fields back or is it still T-bag?
The tea bag kid gets first downs.
I don't care who's better.
He gets first downs and keeps Derek Car off the field.
I don't know.
So, I mean, I just, I don't remember ever looking.
I always, like on Monday, Tuesday, I look at the Lions.
It's all favorites.
Now, I have no big favorites.
This week I took the Lions was my favorite bet.
Like it, I love it.
It was a big favorite, and they won.
So I don't like favorite.
I will say Baltimore minus five and a half at home is a fairly big favorite.
I like Baltimore.
That's my favorite pick of the week.
On Eagles Cowboys, I got a question.
Is this the same Dallas team that we saw against the Niners a few weeks ago?
Yeah, who did they add?
Who did they surprise?
I'm just saying, does it look to you like the same team?
Dallas.
They had an awesome game against the Chargers in prime time on the road, and they smashed,
and I mean destroyed the Rams in quick fashion.
Like, that was over quickly.
Is this the same Cowboys team, or have they changed?
Is a mindset changed?
Something's going on.
They do not look like the team that looked overwhelmed in Sanfran.
Something, I don't know what happened.
Maybe McCarthy was getting all the players.
They played the rebuilding Rams.
That's what I was.
Well, they played the Chargers before that.
Chargers are good.
No. Okay.
Interesting.
You're going to take Dallas over Philly and Philadelphia.
I did not say I'm doing that.
I don't like to get...
Who's going to guard A.J. Browns.
I don't like to stand in front of trains, Colin.
And the Eagles right now that are a train.
Final story.
So the NFL trade deadline quickly approaching Albert Brewer or breakdown stuff for us shortly.
The latest move was Minnesota traded guard,
Ezra Cleveland, young kid out of Boise State,
who has played well this season.
He goes to Jacksonville.
What's that?
Whoa.
The producer just said, is that real?
Chase Young?
So Chase Young is going to the 49ers?
He's going to the 49ers.
Wow.
Another edge rusher.
See, Jerry Jones, hey, you better level up here.
San Francisco says, our defense stinks.
Let's go get a guy.
Bring in Chase Young.
Chase Young.
Holy cow.
Don't they have to move off somebody?
Listen.
You restructure, Colin. That's what you do.
San Francisco, oh my goodness.
Now, Chase Young's been good this year.
Chase Young's a big-time athlete.
So you got both on one side, Chase Young on the other?
John Lynch has taken swings, baby.
Cut.
This is what you do when you're a contender.
And Jerry's up there, like, I love Tony Powell.
We're good enough.
Go to Philadelphia and get smoked, and maybe you're not.
Chase you.
So Washington.
If I'm Jerry Jones and I look at that move, Chase Young,
to the Niners. I'm getting Derek Henry. I want somebody that can run right between the tackles.
By the way, so Washington deals two of its front four guys, and their secondary is getting
shredded every week. They're getting a new coach, a new quarterback. They want picks.
Wow. Who's Washington? I got to see who they're playing. Oh, no, they might be on a buy. If they're
playing anybody, I'm betting against Washington. Like, you lose two of your front four. So if you're in the
NFC and Chase Young goes to the Niners, are you not going to make a move? We got not, we got 80 minutes
here to do something. If you're the front office,
Detroit, we got to do something.
Detroit's got good tackles. I don't worry about Detroit.
You can always find somebody somewhere. Find a cornerback.
If I'm Dallas, Chase Young and Bosa,
how do I neutralize that?
A power run game right up the middle.
Derek Henry.
Oh, you feel good.
Devante Adams, opposite CD Lab?
They can't afford him.
Could the 49ers, if I told you
the 49ers will go get Chase Young? They can't afford them.
Well, they don't pay Brock Purdy anything.
That's fair.
By the way, nobody, I didn't see any reporters speculating Chase Young to the Niners.
Well, it does a lot of stuff.
Hey, that's a shocker.
I'm the only guy that can predict stuff.
Oh, yeah.
Don't you love this live stuff that's coming in?
I hear the producer, I'm like, that can't be right.
Chase Young to the Niners?
For a third round pick?
So Washington, Washington's telling you, we want to get picks.
We're moving off our studs.
We're moving off our defensive coach.
By the way, you know the coach doesn't like this, so they've moved off two defensive
lineman who Ron Rivera is a defensive coach, see ya, they're not listening to him.
So I think what Washington's doing smart.
They're getting picks.
They're moving off howl.
They're getting a new offensive coach.
Nothing against Ron Rivera, but you know he didn't like him moving off sweat and young.
So Washington now has a first two seconds, two-thirds.
That's the way to do it.
Bring in an offensive coach, get a new quarterback loaded up.
This is Washington that just drafted Mosley, the young quarterback over Christian
Gonzalez, who looks like a stud for the Patriots.
All right. Let's take a break. It's the trade deadline. Albert Breer next, The Hurd.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

All right, seven minutes.
Albert Breer, we get him for seven minutes,
and then he's got to make some phone calls.
He's working the phone.
Okay, so Washington clearly selling off a defensive lineman
to the Bears for a second round pick.
Chase Young goes to the Niners for a third round pick.
I'm sure Ron Revere didn't love that,
but you can see what they're doing.
It's a comp third round or two.
Colin, it's a comp third rounder, too,
which means it's probably going to be around the 100th pick in the draft.
So let me ask you, what are the Niners saying, I mean, they got BOSA, they've got expensive players.
I mean, are you surprised San Francisco went defense?
No, because I think the idea here is to build strength on strength.
And, you know, look, like last year you could have argued they didn't need another skill position player,
but there was a guy out there who was an excellent fit for what they wanted to do in Christian McCaffrey
and who could help enhance the guys around him in Devo, Samuel,
Brandon Iuke and George Kittle.
I think the same idea holds here, which is you're already strong in the defensive line
with Nick Bosa and Eric Armstead.
Bosa has been battling double teams, triple teams the entire year.
How do you balance that out?
Well, you have to have a guy on the other side who can make the other team pay for it.
And that's Chase Young.
You know, Chase Young, even though he hasn't lived up to expectations and he's been hurt
a bunch, I mean, physically, if you're going to man him up with one person and that person's
like an average right tackle, look out, you know?
So I think that it's sort of, it goes back to like the Jerry Reese Giants, you know,
and they kept drafting defensive linemen.
And it's like, we'll find a way to get them all in the field.
And it's going to be a problem for everybody else, sort of what the Niners are doing here.
Okay.
I got to ask you, Leonard Williams to the Seahawks didn't get a lot of play.
I think it's substantial for Seattle that now has a pass rush on the edge and great young corners.
How did that puppy come together for the Seahawks with the Giants?
Yeah, well, for the Seahawks, they had been looking around and looking for health.
And they've looked at several edge rushers, Josh Uche, the commander's guys, they kick tires on a lot of guys at that position.
Leonard Williams isn't exactly that.
He's more of an interior guy who can play outside as well.
But, you know, I think certainly somebody you've got to worry about if you're an opposing offensive line and an opposing offensive coordinator.
And so, you know, for the Seahawks, it sort of leans into Pete Carroll's desire always to have a fully stocked defensive line with guys who can get into the backfield.
Leonard Williams is certainly that.
For the Giants, it's really interesting because they wind up getting a two back,
which I think most people would say is more than the Giants would have been able to get for Leonard Williams.
Well, how did they do it?
This was sort of a money ball trade.
They picked up almost all of Leonard Williams money.
And so that means the Seahawks basically have them for the minimum for the rest of the year.
The Giants wind up picking up $9 million that they had budgeted anyway and that was part of their salary cap anyway.
and they buy up that pick.
So where that pick might have been a three, you know,
if you were looking at this as an even-handed deal,
the Giants throw some money to Seahawks way
to alleviate the financial burden,
and they wind up getting a second round pick and return.
And I think it tells us what the Giants management has really told us
over the last couple of years,
that they don't feel like they're there yet,
that they're a ways away.
And even coming off of the last year's playoff year,
if you look at the way that Joe Shane and Brian DeBall operated,
it was we're not going to overextend ourselves
to go for it this year. We're going to sign some of our own guys, but we're going to keep building.
And this is another move that kind of, I think bolsters that sort of strategy.
Okay. If I'm the Cowboys, and I know how good Philadelphia is, and I got blasted by the Niners who just
added Chase Young, I'm looking at it and thinking, okay, we need a power back. The Niners are going
to be so good against us on the edge. If we trail the Niners, how do we supplant our offense?
I still think Derek Henry works for them.
Do you think a move by the Niners would create some inertia for the Cowboys to maybe get on the phone and make a deal?
I personally think the Cowboys, yes, they could use another back, no question.
Like I think the fact that, you know, Tony Pollard was what he was the last few years.
The fact they had Zeke Elliott to manage his workload really helped.
So I don't think the idea of going and at least exploring a trade for Derek Henry would be the worst idea.
in the world. They have other needs too. I think that that's the main thing to look at.
And if they were going to make something, and I'm not sure I'd expect something over the next
hour from the Cowboys, but if they were going to do something, my guess would be it could be
a coroner. And so if we're looking at Corner, Jalen Johnson, obviously his name's been out there
from Chicago, Dante Jackson. If you really wanted to swing for the fences, and they're already
invested in Trayvon Diggs, they probably won't do this. But do you call the Broncos about Patrick
Sertan? I think Corner would be a more.
more pressing need than running back. But that doesn't mean you can't see a special opportunity
with a Derek Henry, at least give it a shot. All right. One more minute left. We got lucky.
We predicted Dobbs to the Vikings. Does it tell you that Kyler Murray's coming back here in the next
couple of weeks? Yeah, I think that they want to gather more information on Kylo and Murray. He was
rusty. He's, I mean, this is kind of an underrated thing, Colin. He's only played one offense his
entire life. Like, the offense he ran in high school was the same as the offense. He ran at the two
colleges he went to was the same as the offense that he ran in Arizona. And so it's not just physically
getting him ready. It's also getting him ready to run an offense that's different, far different
than anything he's ever run before. My understanding on where they stand on Kyle and Murray,
they want to gather information on Tyler Murray over the next two months so they can make smart
decisions at quarterback going forward. Everyone and their mother expects them to be drafting
first or second overall and wind up with Caleb Williams or Drake May and Kyle and Murray somewhere else in
2024. And that certainly could happen. But I do think that they want the most information they can
possibly get on where they're at the position. And you do that by finding a way to get Kyla Murray in there.
And again, like he's got a lot of rust that he's had to knock off. And it's not just the physical
rust. It's also, you know, the mental rust and the mental mountain that he's going to have to
climb and getting himself in a place where he's ready to run an office. It's completely different than
any other one he's run before. Monday morning quarterback Albert Breer covered this league for 20 years.
Great seeing you, which doesn't look possible because he looks 24 years old.
But Albert Breer crushing it.
Good seeing you, buddy.
Albert just continues to crush.
So Dobbs to the Vikings, it tells you they think they're a playoff team.
Leonard Williams to the Seahawks.
They think they need more power to match up with the Niners and the Eagles and the NFC.
Bears have a corner Jalen Johnson who's seeking a trade.
Really good player.
We'll see there.
Derek Henry Cowboys feels right to me.
Niners swing big and get Chase Young opposite side of Bosa.
How much fun is this?
Happy Halloween and stuff.
I'm going to be grinding in the night.
And eat in the Snickers.
All right.
We'll see you tomorrow.
