Well, we got a New England story with me. Mangini, a jet story. He knows those organizations best. Derek Carr, I was told by two people last night, they think the Jets and Derek Carr is a really good fit. If Derek could be willing to go there.

Eric Mangini, Fox Sports Analysts joining us. He does on Fridays. We love that. Let me start with a Mike Williams story. When coaches are consistent, you create an identity. Okay? Rex Ryan had his critics, right? He's kind of consistent.

He kind of knew what you're getting, right? So I look at Brandon Staley. I don't doubt his intelligence. But he wouldn't play guys starters in the preseason. It's meaningless. Then why are you starting him in week 18? So the messaging to me as a football player as a staff is, what are we?

Last year he was Mr. Big Risk on Fourth Down. This year they scaled back. What are we? Mike Williams now is missing this game. Eric, he's a tough cover. He's a component. What do you make? of his decision to play him. Where do you fall on that?

Yeah, it is hard to rectify when you don't play your guys in the preseason because they're meaningless games. You don't want to get them hurt. And then you have a meaningless game and you're trying to play your guys. And I get it. You don't want rust and you want guys to be sharp going into the playoffs. But it's a meaningless game. And you've got a team that's been banged up all season. Go ahead and take that opportunity to get those guys healthy. And you can't, you can't recover from on Mike Williams losing a guy like that. You can't.

And everybody has a different philosophy. Tampa, they played Tom Brady almost into the, you know, to the end of the second half. So that's their philosophy. But it's, you can get killed either way because if your guys go out in the playoffs and they've had a week off and they're sloppy, then you get dinged because you rested them and they're not sharp. But losing a player that can have such an impact on a game in a meaningless game,

the week before you have the playoffs. It's a tough sell in the locker room, and it's probably going to be a tough sell from ownership perspective. So it's interesting with Seattle, San Francisco. You were with young Tom in the playoffs, and Belichick a little less reluctant to dial it up and let him go. So here's Brock Purdy, and I can see a scenario. It's going to be wet and rainy and windy.

Pretty fumbles it. Purdy turns it over, and Kyle's like, All right, we're going to close up some playbook here. Let's get out of this thing. And I can see Seattle and Pete Carroll. All of a sudden, you get to the third quarter. It's 10-7. You've got house money.

I think Seattle's going to be a... I think they're going to give him everything. Go back to Brady early. And we're not saying purdy is Brady. But rookies, last nine times a rookie started in a playoff game, they're one and eight. It's different. Right, Eric?

Yeah. Remember, in our first Super Bowl run, run, we scored three offensive touchdowns in the whole run. And one of those touchdowns was from Drew Breeze because Tom got hurt and the AFC, or not Drew Bledsoe because Tom got hurt and the AFC championship game. And it was, we did take the perspective of we need to go out and play complimentary football. We need to protect the young quarterback, play good defense, play good special teams. And we were going to win collectively.

And it's different going from preseason and regular season. and going from regular season to playoffs, that's a whole different level, too. The intensity, the energy, everything about it is a completely different level. And what you worry about with a young guy is that they try to do too much. Don't try to do too much. Don't try to go out and win the game for us. Just go out and do what you've been doing so far that's been so successful. I mean, his numbers are incredible for his early run.

So we got the goat, Brady, hosting DAC, who's had a weird year. Dak's never been really a sloppy guy, not a big interception guy, and now he is. So to me, when somebody, I don't think his work habit changes, it's McCarthy, what do you make? Are you concerned with Dak's, like, explosion of multiple interception games? and turnovers. Yeah, really concerned. One of the Decks greatest attributes was protecting the football, and he's got 40% more interceptions than his worst year.

Yeah. And then this is through 12 games, or his interception percentage. It's staggering. And I watched the commander's game, the coach's copy, and there were guys sitting on routes and jumping passes and things that made it look like they truly understand understood where he was going to go with the ball. And sometimes when a guy like Dak gets paid what he gets paid,

the pressure that's on the organization, the pressure that's on them to win, again, we get to that pushing it, that trying to be something that you're not. And when you do that, very rarely does good things happen. And look, the last game of the season, you don't want to limp in the way the Cowboys did. That was about as bad a way as you can go to the playoffs as you could get. You had a 45 quarterback rating. I mean, it was terrible, terrible way to go in. Yeah.

All right. Read a story this morning where the players support Mac Jones, and they didn't like how Bailey Zappy was handled. And I'm like, I don't know, Sark and Mac Jones, Josh and Mac Jones, look pretty good. I mean, smart people, smart coaches. make mistakes. I don't know.

I think Bill's never lost a locker room, Eric. The story I read this morning is like, I don't know. That's like, Dave Wonstadt always says, you can lose games. Don't lose the locker room. What do you make of that story? Well, it's really interesting what's happening in New England now because he, Bill had the benefit of the doubt from, from ownership to have an unconventional offensive staff.

And that didn't really work out. And Mack Jones supposedly was going outside the organization. to get help, which is understandable because there's nobody really on the staff that can give him insight from a quarterback perspective. So I get that. That's not going to make Bill happy. You know, you keep things in the family. But going back to that benefit of the doubt with the success that Tom's had and the way that New England struggled, you're going to lose the benefit of the doubt in the locker room from those guys, where you run through the wall, knowing that if you run through the wall that you're going to either be deep in the playoffs or have a chance to win

the Super Bowl. And it hurts the benefit of the doubt externally where great players would take less to go. Their great players would be different in New England than they were other places. And that's a hard sell now. It's a totally different equation than it has been because of what Tom's done and what New England's done. Really is. All right, I'm on the Derek car. bandwagon. He leads the NFL and fourth quarter comeback since he's been in Oakland. And, I mean, we can see what Brock Purdy, you can give a C quarterback or a B quarterback a great defense. You get to the playoffs. Can he pick it at the end of the year? That last month, they looked like a playoff team. I don't know. I think the Raiders blame Carr for a lot of their nonsense.

Are you a fan of Derek? Yeah, I know that you guys have adopted Power Hour there. and maybe you have a few cocktails, but I don't think that, I don't think that's the reason that you're saying what you're saying. I agree with you, and I haven't had power hour here yet. I think Derek Carr,

much like you do, is maligned more than he should be. No one's had worse defenses over the course of his career than he has. And he has a bunch of fourth quarter comebacks because the defense has been bad and he's had to have those comebacks. And then you look at this season.

How many of those games, can you really say, okay, this was a Derek Carr problem. Not very many. Oftentimes, it was a defensive collapse that put him in that situation. And it's frustrating because I think not only is Derek a good quarterback, but I think he gets better the second year in his system. And he's had to go through that with changing coordinators. It could have been so much better had he had some more support around him.

from a defensive perspective than I think he's been given credit for. Yeah, I think we don't. Maybe it's because of their rich history, because both Washington and the Raiders, 70s, 80s, 90s, just a rich history. The Raiders are a lot closer to the bears and the lions. And the Texans than the top of the league. Like they've been, I mean, Carr had six coaches.

Can you imagine that as a quarterback in nine? You got six coaches? new systems every year? I don't know. Yeah, and that's what I'm saying is when you look at that progression, too, the second year he's been in the system, typically he's a better quarterback. And Josh's system is tough to learn. I would have really liked to see him a second year in this system

and see where he could have gone, especially if they improved defensively and gave him a chance from that perspective. All right, Eric Mangini, we are strongly under consideration. The Power Hour. You got to get that tolerance up, big guy. All right, finally. We're starting with, sorry, Cowboys looking for their first road playoff win.

Oh my gosh, 1992. Monday night in Tampa, they'll need a bounce-back performance after that tough loss in Washington. Micah Parsons, man, he keeps running his mouth. He and the rest of the team are ready to take their game to another level against Tom Brady.

It's always cool to go against Brady because none of us know when his last game is. So, you know, so hopefully, you know, we get to win, you know, we get the known for being in the last. He's just like any other quarterback. He bleed the same way he throws. You know, he's just a better quarterback than most. So, you know, the challenge is higher.

I feel like, you know, as far as we go, these are going to be my best games. And, you know, that's just because I want it, you know. This is where, you know, regular season is cool. You guys get all hyped up. But this is where the legends is made. It's a good game, man. I like Dallas. I can't wait for your past.

I like Dallas. I'm really genuinely interested. You know what? I was going to save this for... Save it. Save it. Okay, save it. All right. I want to say it.

Bad Brady numbers at night. At night. We talked about a little bit. I got the numbers now. It's just not ideal. I'm rooting Cowboys on Monday night. That's maybe a first. I'm not a huge Cowboys guy.

But I do want, you know, Brady to leave after this. Well, I think Dallas is a more interesting story. I think Brady's next stop is more interesting than this version. He won a Super Bowl. here. Nice story. I want to see Dallas move. Well, if Tampa wins, McCarthy maybe we don't know. I mean, and

now you got Sean Payton waiting in the wings. Maybe the Herbert job opens up with the Chargers. We know the Denver job is there. I mean, if I told you. Wait, Jim Harbaugh, would he be of interest to Dallas? No, he doesn't want to deal with that nonsense. He doesn't want to deal with America's team? I don't know.

High profile? Jerry Jones. Gosh, I would love those two together. How much content is that for us? Jim Barbont serious. I don't think Jim likes that content. That's the kind of content he wants. Next up, Cincinnati Bengals. I haven't really talked about them this week that much.

At Super Bowl run last year was pretty incredible. They're hoping they can get to another Super Bowl. Running back, Joe Mixon had a strong message for any team standing in their way. We're the big dogs of the AFC, and everybody knows that. They're gunning for us, and we know we're going to get everybody's best shot. At the end of the day, if we're not turning the ball over and taking care of the little things, we can't be beat. So we just got to go ahead and we're going to take everybody's best shot, but they'd be ready. But they better be ready to take hours.

Tough talk from the number three seed in the AFC. I like Cincinnati. A lot of bums me out. Their offensive lines falling apart. The entire right side of their offensive line is out for this game. Collins and Kappa. You know who's on who's going to be facing the backups, Callais Campbell. He's a decent player for Baltimore. more on the front. I like Burroughs so much. Mixing's doing a lot of talking. There was a lot

of jaw jacking between these two teams last week. They don't like each other. Well, this division is just feisty. This feels like 1916 somebody. And by the way, Evan McPherson's been terrible this season for Cincinnati. What is that? Evan Almighty. He was so good last year. He was great.

What happened? Sometimes Kickers gets upstairs. The Yips, maybe. Regression to the mean, maybe. There you go. But kickers can be a little flaky sometimes. All right, we'll wrap up with your favorite quarterback in the NFL. Kyler Murray. The homework clause last year was a controversial addition

after the backlash the team removed it, but one of Kyler's teammates thinks it was a mistake. A veteran Cardinals player told Mike Silver that it was like they created a monster with the deal and that Kyler was less inclined to study the game plan or meet the expectations the team had for him as the franchise quarterback after signing. Oh, God.

This could be a bottom five culture in the league right now. The Arizona. What's going on in that locker room? Oh, it is a bottom five culture, but there's talent there. I think Brian Flores is the answer. No nonsense. I'm generally not a fan of defensive coaches, but you have an issue you have to fix. Run game, defense special teams.

Flores, remember those. Now, I could be fuzzy on this. But if I recall, not only that he fixed the Dolphins, defense in about six games. Didn't they have a great special teams year? Go back and look at Flores' rookie year. If I recall, I remember they had so much, they had picked sixes all the time. I mean, it was so New England.

It was run defense special teams. So we were talking about it yesterday and you were like, yeah, Kylo Murray should have some input on the head coach, right? What if Kyla's like, I don't know about this guy? I talked to Tua and Tua didn't like him. I don't think I want Brian Flores. Then what do you do if you're the owner? It's not out of the realm

No, but you know what the owner says, hey, Brian will let you run the offense. He's a defensive guy. Part of being an owner, you've got to be a salesman. Say, listen, he's going to do the defense and special teams. That's his specialty. We'll get you a coordinator you like. He's getting a lot of power to a guy who's never won a playoff game.

Sometimes you've got to give power to people. I give you the mic for seven minutes every hour. It's dangerous. It's dangerous. You can take it anywhere. Wow. All right. Are you done?

It's just not ideal. It's not what you want. But I'll say this. The Green Bay Arizona thing is very similar. Both teams are concerned about the commitment, Aaron off-season, Kyler in season. Both have an ego and some drama. Both are, they may throw the two prettiest balls in the league.

They're beautiful. both are kind of like, I got this guys. Like when you push back in them, they're like, Kyler's like, I got this. Aaron can be RELAX, relax. They both kind of have this sort of. Yeah, but one of them has multiple MVP's and a Super Bowl. And one of them has what?

Okay. What does Kyla Marie have? Seven years of prime. Aaron's out of it. So they all come with their stuff. But I've said before, if Aaron would commit to the off season, you don't want to move off him. he just won't and so you know green bay is drafting two things they're going to get another

receiver and a tight end almost every mock draft projects them getting the tight end from notre dame so they have two really capable tight ends it's one of their needs they need they need another tithe mercedes is more of a mercedes lewis a blocking mays old right so and they're going to get a receiver fairly they don't have a lot of needs they green bay does not have a lot of needs here another edge rusher tight end receiver i think they went heavy into the O line last year. So maybe a tackle at some point mid-round's. But their question is... Aidan Hutchinson ate their tackle up in that final game.

So I don't know what the status of Bakhtiari and the off. Maybe the offensive line is of concern. I think it is. I think it's getting old in a couple of spots. They spent some money on... They have an interior O-Lyman. They spent some money on. We'll see. And that division's only getting better with the Detroit lines coming on. Strong. So my argument is you need more weapons.

You got to give Aaron... Running backs are fun. Fine. Dylan and Aaron Jones. Aaron Jones is great. So you got one tied-in and two young receivers. So what you've got to do is you've got to fortify Aaron. It's going to be some shootouts now. You've got to give another tight end.

There's like four really good tight-ins. I like how easily you can fix the Packers. I don't think they need fixing. They don't need fixing. They don't need their quarterback to show up in June. How do you fix the Arizona Cardinals, Colin? Well, that's a tall order. It is.

Let's begin. Tomorrow's headlines today. That's what we call it. Seahawks and the Niners, windy, wet, and rainy. Yeah, weather's going to be a problem. You like Seattle to cover, Colin. I think we disagree slightly. The headline will be,

I want to brook and roll all night and party every day. Yeah. I think the 49ers. I think the 49ers take control here. But this isn't really about Purdy. This is the San Francisco defense. Listen, Seattle could not drive the ball on them twice this season. The only touchdown they had was in garbage time a couple weeks back at home.

Colin, you look at how they get home with four, right? They don't need to blitz. They don't need to blitz. Gino, they sit back in the zone and mess things. And Gino really struggles against his team. Colin, I even gave out props last week. I said, Cam Acres is going to eat on the ground. through the air. McCaffrey,

Debo, they're fully healthy. I just cannot make a case for Seattle. By the way, I saw the stat that Seattle rookies started 70 games this year. I know. Tied an NFL record. I know. That's how young this team is. And we know rookies kind of wear down when it gets to the playoffs. It's a tough, tall order for Seattle. San Francisco

prevails. All right, this is a tough one for me. Tomorrow's headlines today. No Mike Williams, Chargers head to Florida and the Jazz. Yeah, you were flip-flopping like a one Mike Williams was ruled out, but not going to happen to me.

The headline will be two to tangle. Chargers win. Hair and square. Battle of the young quarterbacks with the hair. Colin, for me, a big injury that people are not talking about. The right tackle of the Jags. Cam Robinson out. Yeah.

Bosa is going to dominate that side. I really do not like the Jags vibe going into this. You see the quarterback's they face lately? I got the names here. Josh Dobbs, Davis Mills. Zach Wilson. Are we that excited about this Jaguars team? This defense is going to crumble against Herbert. Keenan Allen is the guy I would target.

I looked at his receiving yards prop. Remember we talked about it? Because slot receivers have dominated the Jags. They ranked 31st defending the slot. Keenan Allen's prop was at 74 yards yesterday. It's up to 80 today. He's going to be the guy that Justin Herbert looks at. I also think Everett has a good game at tight end.

I like Josh Palmer. I know the Williams injury is devastating. I hope you're right. Well, I know a lot of charges. fans telling me, hey, this is a good thing if we lose, we get a new coach. I'm like, guys, I have some Chargers futures to steal something in the AFC, get to the Super Bowl. I know, it's a long shot. We're going to watch this together tomorrow night. Perhaps, yeah, I think, I think if you invite me, I mean, I'm available, you know, I'll just run it by the wife first, but it should be good.

Oh, boy, okay. So he likes the chargers. All right, tomorrow's headlines today. No Tua. Bill's Allen probably eat. What's the headline for this one? Is this the least exciting of the games this weekend? By the way, Buffalo in the old format would have a buy, and Miami wouldn't be in. That's a good point. The headline will be fish out of water. Dolphins can't land on their fins as a Buffalo Bills fan. Suplexes a table into oblivion. Colin, listen, I'm looking at the injuries here, Miami.

Oh, no, it's incredible. Like seven starters. They're on their third string left tackle, back up right tackle. Most are they're running back? Hasn't practiced all week. And now you got Skyler Thompson inserted. Buffalo is going to be very fired up. I saw, I think, I'm not sure who it was that tweeted that Hamlin could lead them out of the tunnel this weekend because he's out of the hospital.

Like, it's going to be a great spot for Buffalo. I mean, home favorites of at least nine points are 11 N0 against the spread in the wild car. That's true. I got to lean on Kurtzins. cousins over Daniel Jones here. The numbers are staggering for first-time quarterbacks in the playoffs. I think it's 17 and 37 against the spread. It's just, it's a thing. The lights come on in the playoffs. Defenses are a little better. Coaches don't want to make mistakes. A lot of ground and pound here. Now, I know a lot of people like the Giants, right? A lot of people are telling you, yeah, you got to take the Giants. It feels like a last possession. Somebody wins by three. So I would attack more the prop market. I think this is a Justin Jefferson and Hawkinson, big game

against a giant secondary that's overrated. Now this next one, I think I know what you like. Tomorrow's headlines today, beat up Bengals O line. Can they survive the Ravens? The Ravens and John Harbaugh, who's decent in the wild card round? I'll tell you about in a second. The headline will be White Knuckle Claw. Burrow barely holds his seltzer.

Joe cool. I got the Bengals winning a very close one. Okay. This is going to be close. That's what I think. You know, you're putting vibes out asking people, what are they hearing? What are they? So I said, you know, Ravis just looked so bad last week.

Jason, did you watch closely? Did you see the offensive game they called? Nothing. They put nothing on tape. No Andrews, no Dobbins, no gimmick plays, nothing. And now everybody's back this week. that we've forgotten by now? The headline will be! not their first rodeo. Cowboys finally roped the goat. Look at Dak getting it done. Here's the number that I've been, you know, teasing all week. Tom Brady in his last 16 night games, two and 14 against the spread. There is something there.

I don't exactly know what it is. Maybe he's not drinking his milk late enough in the day. I know you're a milk guy. But this Tampa offense, did you realize they scored the second fewest points in the NFC? The second fewest. And by the way, there's some bad offenses in the NFC. I mean, Washington played three different quarterbacks. I mean, the NFC's bad, and this whole narrative,

oh, Tampa's getting healthy. They're healthier than ever. Like, so they beat Carolina. They had to come back to beat Carolina last, or two weeks ago, right, to get into the playoffs. I think Dallas puts it together. Full game, Pollard, Zeke, C.D. Lamb. This is the game McCarthy has had on his radar for at least three weeks. They've been known they're going to play Tampa.

I give a big edge to DAC and the offense against Bowls and a Tampa defense. It's not very good, Colin. I'm going Dallas here. Okay. So we agree on. Dallas, the Ravens, and the Bills. Yeah. So we have three to two.

Three out of six. Well, three out of five, I didn't touch the Giants Vikings. Because I think you're right. But I had such strong feelings and instincts about the Giants. And then by the end of the week, I'm like, sometimes I change my Jaguars, Chargers bet without Mike. Because I said early in the week, I watched every charger game. Mike Williams is really a matchup issue. Those contested catches, red zone, he's a real matchup issue.

This happens to baseball pitchers. So old team, long playoff run. It's like another, it's like 20 games. Yeah. You come into the season. You have that Draymond pool thing, a little tense, a lot of road games early, right? And they struggle defensively. They're terrible on the road.

And you can still, they're still trying to kind of bridge old guy, new guy. Yeah. Are you going to doubt Wiggins? Steph, pool, clay, Draymon, Looney. That's a good starting five, man. They'll probably be back in the finals. I think they will be.
