This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.

For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84's big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year,
unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians,
and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

Tristan Thompson, by the way, had a great game this year against Yokic for Denver.
Totally shut him down.
We'll get to that in a second, though.
So because Yokic has become, you know, it's interesting.
You know, it used to be when I was growing up.
You'd watch a guy playing college for four years, like D. Wade.
And then you'd watch him in March Madness.
and you had a sense who they are.
And what happens with a lot of international players is, like, if they're good,
they go to a bad team that we don't watch a lot, and we didn't watch them in college or high school,
and then they get over here, unless they're like, you know, Luca good,
where he's like good instantly, you know, they take time to develop.
And the Denver Nuggets don't get on national TV a lot.
So the bubble, we're seeing Yokic way more than we've ever watched him.
He is the best passing big man ever, and I covered Arvetus a bonus.
And he's better than Arvetus.
And Arvetus was an unbelievable passer.
Bill Walton was also a great passing big man.
And Jack Sigma, Sonic's reference.
Let's bring in Tristan Thompson, nine years in the NBA.
NBA champ, four straight finals with LeBron James.
So first of all, let's start with this.
Game three, Lakers look disengaged early.
Should the Lakers be concerned about last night's performance?
No, not at all.
I think it's the Western Conference finals.
I think the Lakers know this is going to be a dogfighter.
If you look at what Denver has done in the last two series,
especially against the clippers, come back from 3-1,
that just shows you that this team has heart,
and they're not going to back down.
It's a chess match.
Mike Malone, who's a great coach in our league,
that definitely needs to get more recognition,
made his adjustments,
and now it's on Frank Vogel and his staff
to look at the film and make those adjustments.
This is the Western Conference finals,
and that's what you got to do.
By the way, you did play Nicola Yochich, very good.
And a lot of people,
we don't watch Denver Nuggets basketball a lot in America, and now we are.
You shut him down, four for 11, eight points in 32 minutes.
It was March 7th.
You Cavs won.
What did you do?
We beat them twice, by the way, in Denver, any Cleveland.
So when we played him in March, it was in Cleveland.
Jokers, we all know how great offensively he is.
But one thing about Denver's ball club is that defensively, you know,
they don't really do the best job in terms of blocking shots or protecting the paint during
the regular season.
Obviously in the playoffs now, they've done a better job.
But for me, I would just keep running him up and down the floor.
You want to wear him out, you know.
Obviously, you know, he's not the best-shaped athlete in our league.
So for me, with setting screens, rolling to the rim, always going to the offensive glass, just be a pest.
My mindset is almost when I play against anyone is that, you know, if I'm running against a brick wall,
I'm going to break the brick wall before I break my face.
So I'm going to keep attacking the rim, keep doing everything to just.
just wear him out. And it showed when we play him when he was four for 11, eight points.
And that's what their bigs have to do. They got to be active. They got to be active.
Dwight Howard's got to be active. AD's got to hit the offensive glass. Put pressure on him.
He's very comfortable offensively. You've got to make him play on both ends.
By the way, AD only had a couple of rebounds last night. He's obviously a great talent.
I've always said he's a tad soft to me, doesn't have a ton of dog in him.
I've never felt that he really wanted to be, he doesn't want to be a five. He wants to be a four.
He wants to run up and down the floor.
Did you think last night it was just conscious that he just, you know,
he just didn't want to battle last night?
With two rebounds, 80 knows, everyone knows that's unacceptable.
He knows that he's got to, in this series,
he's got to be getting 25 and 10 every night.
And the most important thing is offensive rebounds.
I think, like I said about Jokk is to wear him out and fatigue him and make him tired,
80's got to get at least four offensive rebounds of games,
just to wear him out.
foul trouble on him. That's how you wear out big men in our league, whether it's Joe Kitch,
M. B, DeMarcus cousin when he was at when he was at his peak. To get those guys off their game
offensively, you've got to be extra active when your team has the ball. So whether it's the glass,
rebounding, setting pick and rolls rolling, that's what A.D. needs to do. And yes, you know,
everyone questions, does he like playing the five? But in this series, 80 has to accept that
roll at the five, which I think he's doing, but he's got to have more than two rebounds.
that, you know, he knows and he'll tell you himself, you know, that's unacceptable.
And I think he's in a bounce back.
Well, there's three, let's shift to the Clippers.
So earlier, I played detective on the show.
I said, something's going on with the Clippers.
We have three different stories that have leaked on Paul George,
that his teammates rolled their eyes when he said,
hey, it's not about this year, it's about long-term.
We have stories that he was arguing with teammates.
A lot of this stuff wasn't visible.
this is people within the organization,
somebody leaking stuff.
And I said, Tristan,
stuff gets out because somebody wants it out.
Somebody's not, like the Clippers maybe are getting these stories out
because they're about ready to move him
and they want to protect themselves when they move him.
They can say, look, look, look,
he didn't get along with anybody and his teammates bailed on him.
What do you make of all these Paul George stories coming out?
It seems to me it's almost planned.
Now, I'm very familiar with,
team meetings that become on my Twitter, on my phone,
and 30 minutes later,
and it's either shams or woe's talking about.
I'm so used to it.
I'm like, I sort of the team meeting.
Who is calling their agent or who's friends with the media?
But I think I know Paul George really well,
and with him having that talk after the game,
Paul George's heart meet is in the right place.
I know he wants everyone to feel better after the game,
but for me as a player,
after, you know, we tricked off a 3-1 lead and lose,
The last thing I want to hear is, you know, a speech that, you know, that, hey, you know, guys, you did a good job, but there's always next year.
Like, I'm furious.
I'm upset.
The last thing I want to hear is, hey, guys, you got next year.
I know what he's trying to do in terms of like, hey, guys, you know, we didn't get to where we want to get to.
Let's guys stay locked in.
Get better this summer.
Let's work on our game.
The timing is just not the right moment, especially with, you know, him getting in the verbal altercation with Tres and all that.
I think his heart's in the right place.
Just the timing was off.
But like you said, people put stuff out there to get the noise going.
But I think Paul George isn't the problem.
I think they just got to find a better way to make everyone mesh.
But if somebody's, let me ask you this.
If you, when you're in Cleveland and a bunch of stuff leaked about you,
wouldn't you question, okay, wouldn't you question if those guys have your back?
Like if I'm Paul George this morning, I'm thinking, I got three different stories leaked on me.
These guys don't have my back.
This staff doesn't have my back.
How can a player trust his teammates when three stories from three different reporters leak out?
I think, you know, being around when we had Kyrie, Braun, and Kay Love, you know, they gave Kev a hard time.
And even Kyrie, I think the key is to kind of have thick skin.
Of course, you know, you could definitely go in the locker room and send a text to me like, man, like, you know, who's talking?
Like, like, Braun's definitely said that in our locker room.
Like, what we do in-house is our business.
Don't be going out and telling people.
Like, you know, like, obviously it never always works,
but the fact that if you say it one time,
at least makes a guy think and wonder.
Yeah.
But, yeah, it's definitely a weird feeling.
But it's part of the game.
I think for PG, it's just, you know,
control you can control, which is, you know,
get back in that gym,
show everyone that you're working hard.
You know, of course he had a,
not his best game
and the style of fashion
that they went out in terms of his performance.
So just control, you can control PG
and just get in the gym.
So next year when you're in the situation,
and you're up for you,
you don't have to worry about that.
You guys handle business
and get to the next round.
By the way, you may have given me
some good information.
Now, you have to be totally honest with me.
Did LeBron occasionally leak stories?
Occasionally?
No, LeBron would never,
I don't think LeBron ever leaked a story.
I feel like most of our stories
might have came from guys
that don't wear the jersey.
So you cross out about 12 guys.
I think most of the stories came from people
that were probably maybe wearing
the suits.
With our team, with our team, we were kind of more straight shooter.
If you look at our roster, we had a more straight shooter guys and guys that really weren't
cool with the media like that.
So because they'd always talk bad about us, so we're like, you know, screw them.
So we kind of kept stuff in-house because we had a lot of stuff that we went through.
We'll hopefully get a Netflix special like The Last Dance so we can talk about some stuff.
Okay, so the Miami-Boston series, they're very young teams.
You have two great players, Jimmy Butler and Jason.
Tatum. It's very easy to look at those two and say they'll decide the series. You have two very
competent coaches, Eric Spolstra, Brad Stevens. So you got two stars, one each team, two great coaches.
Is there a key beyond the coaching, beyond Butler and Jason Tatum? What is the key going forward
in your opinion of this series, Miami and the Celtics?
So the key for Miami, I feel in the first two games, was Drag. I think if Miami wants to
win this series and go on to the finals, it's Drogic.
If you look at Drogic's numbers, last game, he didn't play too well.
The first two games, he had 20 points, made big threes, made big plays.
He's the key for Miami because when he plays at a high level and he's creating,
he's finding guys in the threes and a pick and roll, finding BAM on the Oops and making
threes, they're definitely tough to guard.
But for Boston, they figured out something.
Miami does a really good job running a zone, but the problem with their zone is that
like any zone, the middle is always open, and I feel like Boston realized, let's attack the zone.
The first two games Boston were shooting, threes, and settling, they realized that let's get in the middle
of the paint and let's put pressure on them because at the end of the day, if you go guard for guard,
Boston has Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Marcus Mark, Campbell Walker, four starters on almost every team
in our league against Miami's guards that are, you know, they're good, but if you look at the,
if you have to compare, people would say Boston with the edge.
had winning this series.
But the question is, it's a chess match.
Bosset, I think, figured it out in terms of attacking the zone, and just, they have big
guards.
Be big and attack their big.
Attack their guards.
Attack Drogh.
Attack Tyler Hero.
Attacked Duncan Robinson.
Those guys aren't top-tier defenders.
You got to attack them.
You ever notice something like that shirt Tristan Thompson wears looks great on him.
If John Goulet and I wore that shirt, we would look ridiculous and you wear it.
and you looked like some style maven, some style.
Now, where did you get that?
Give somebody props for that.
Where did you get that?
It's actually a friend of mine, Jack McClain.
He played for the U.
He played for the U.
So he gave me this shirt, hooked me up.
I always take the free $99.
So I was like, you know what?
Let me wear it, support my boy.
And it's, you know, I feel like I get the Tommy Bahama
yacht club feels.
So I was like, why not brighten up the room?
Yeah.
If I wore a shirt with big birds on it,
I mean, people would say, listen, you can't come into the room.
I'd be a security risk.
You wear it and look like a million bucks.
Tristan is good at seeing you, buddy.
Always good to you, Colin.
Thank you.
All right, good stuff.
When it comes to reaching my health goals, it's about changing mindsets and habits.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.

Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because.
of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack
all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point,
this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see
there's a through line.
We also have AIDS
on the table right now.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important
year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important
years for black people
in American history.

don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
I would honestly be concerned.
No, I would be a security risk.
If you came in here with that shirt on, which is a very nice shirt.
Yeah, it was.
But you know, oh, you always wear buttoned outs.
Like, the craziest you will get with colors is like you had a mint on the other day.
No, they came, they came, when I first came to Fox, they came with, uh, I don't know.
do dots.
Well, dots aren't good for television anyway.
I'm not a dot guy.
They look like they're moving.
Today, I have very, I'm not, I don't like a lot of colors and stuff.
I mess with my hair, big mistake.
Now I'm messing with my face.
I'm 50-50.
That works.
Don't screw with shirts.
I don't want, when you watch the show, I don't want you to watch my shirt.
I want you to hear what I'm saying.
That's fair.
I go a little more wild with the colors.
So there's been a huge debate about whether this year's NBA title will have an
aster next to it.
And Kevin Durant picked the side he's on when he was asked about
whoever the champion is in the bubble.
Will they be respected as much as the champions from any other season?
Yeah, of course.
You still had to play against these dudes.
I think it's going to be respected for sure.
Probably more respected.
It's tough for them boys in there, man.
They've been away from everybody for that long.
You're the last one standing.
That's going to be tough.
Totally agree.
I think this is unbelievable.
So ask yourself that we've talked about this.
My entire life, here's what the NBA.
playoffs look like. The old guys take over and the young guys shrink. For the only time in my life,
the young guys have exploded and the old guys outside of LeBron have been shrinking. Why? Because
the old guys aren't around their kids and their family. And they're much more conditioned to playing
in front of these crowds and playoff crowds, their routine going into the playoffs. How long has
LeBron been? How long have the Lakers old team been there? Okay. So game seven of the finals was
originally expected to be on October 12th.
It could be later if the
conference finals both go into seven games,
which we don't know, but we'll see.
If the four remaining teams,
the four remaining teams arrived in Orlando on July
7th through the 9th. So if the finals go to seven games,
the two teams would have been in the bubble just over three
months. Folks,
I go to a resort
with my wife. After six
days, I'm going, I need to go home.
Six days is too long for vacation for me.
Like, people go, you should go on a
cruise. I'm like on a boat for seven days. What am I, Gilligan? I can't do. I can't even go
to a boat for seven day. You're in a hotel room. And by the way, Disney's got nice stuff. I've been
in Disney World with my kids a zillion times. I can't go there for two weeks. Yeah. Look, no one's saying
that I don't have top of the line accommodations, food. Yes. They can go fishing. They can go golfing.
They have little activities and DJs and they have a pool and they have spikes. They have stuff to do. Okay.
So it's not like they are, you know, camping in the wilderness for three months, you know, naked and afraid or something.
But they're away from their families.
They're away from their routine.
They're away from their homes for three months with nothing but basketball and their teammates.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no, they're not hanging out with media.
The media is on the other side of the complex.
Like, this is a lot.
And it's not, no one's asking for sympathy.
It's just the facts.
Like, they're away from their family for three months.
This is not normal.
This is not what they sign.
signed up for.
It's very difficult.
Would this be something that an NBA player would have to do?
So,
and yes,
they're being compensated because as soon as everyone talks about this,
they're like,
they make a lot of money.
They get paid for this.
Yes.
But that's not what,
when they were like,
oh, I want to be an NBA player.
Once a year,
I'm going to have to go away from my family for three months.
That wasn't what they signed up for.
This is a very unique situation.
It's very stressful.
And we saw what happened with the clippers.
By the way,
it's stressful on coaches.
Yeah, we're only stressful on the players.
There's staff.
There's coaches who cannot bring their family.
in, right? The coaches may be able to, but
I don't know, I don't think the staff can bring
people in. How many people can you bring in?
Hey, listen, if LeBron wins this,
it's not a deficit.
It's a credit. It's another
credit. To whoever wins this, it's going
to be a credit because this has been an extreme
situation to deal with as a player.
LeBron gets to the final.
His fifth coach, he's gone
to the final with. Michael
Jordan got to the finals
with one. Could never get
with a second coach. Michael couldn't win with a
second team.
Okay.
I'll tell you, it's a big chessboard, and LeBron's knocked all the pawns on.
The king remains.
He's definitely knocking down some critics, especially doing it in the West this year.
So Tom Brady is still working on getting on the same page with the rest of the buck's
offense, and he admits it's going to take a while before he's fully in sync with his new team.
Well, I think we're going to be building it all season.
As much as we'd love for everything to come together instantaneously, we all realize it's going to take some time.
We're all getting to know each other, getting to know each other personally, getting to know each other professionally, figuring out how everyone can play a different role and play it well.
So it's going to take us a little bit of time and we're going to work our ass off to get it right.
If they think about this, if they improved 5 to 6% every week.
Now that sounds granular, right?
Like that's it.
By Thanksgiving, you're 50% better of its football team.
It's just if you're 5, 6 better, just a little better every week.
You look at Thanksgiving, you're like, oh, there.
a significantly better team. It's just don't take
these big jumps. The first thing
they have to work on is
start, I would say the next two or three
weeks, acknowledge tight end
is a position and throw to it because they've got
three guys that can play and they're not even
looking at the tight end. It's
going to take some time with Tom Brady
and the Bucks. But
the unique situation with Tom Brady and the Bucks
is they don't really have time.
So yes, you're right. It probably
is a
gradual growth
situation, but it's Tom Brady.
Here's another thing. Atlanta's
a hot mess. Carolina's
clearly in a rebuild. And New Orleans
isn't as good as we thought.
So this, again, this is like Philadelphia.
You've got a little bit of runway here. You're not
in a division with Baltimore or Kansas City or Seattle where you look up
in there 8 and 0 or 7 and 1. Like
New Orleans plays Green Bay this weekend.
Yeah. Well, so New Orleans looked
great in the first game.
And now they're without Michael Thomas.
And that performance. Here comes Aaron
Rogers, we know Michael Thomas, so it's like if the Saints are 1 and 2, you've got some runway here to get it.
Yeah, capitalize on the situation.
So we're big into facial hair around here now.
Yeah.
It's a showdown between Fitzmagic and Minshu Mania on Thursday night football tomorrow.
I'm going to watch that, actually.
I'm excited for it.
The two quarterbacks are known for their strong choices and facial hair, and they traded some jabs ahead of their matchup.
Brian Fitzpatrick started off.
He was asked why beards are better than mustaches.
The mustache versus the beard.
I mean, I think the beard is a cooler look.
And I think guys that grow mustaches a lot of times have patchy sides for their beards.
So they just stick with the mustache.
Gardner mentioned she has a pretty strong mustache, but he was not phased by Fitzpatrick's comment.
So here was his response to Fitzpatrick.
Yeah, I think I've strong.
I can grow a beard with no patchy sides.
But, you know, I'm going to have respect for my elders.
You know, especially when they're much, much elder.
Minchu, look, you know what I want to say something?
I want you to watch tomorrow night with Minshu.
So I've made this comment before.
I do not want this to come across as negative.
But Minchew and Baker Mayfield played in the same offensive system in college
with the exact same numbers.
The difference is Baker had much better teammates at Oklahoma.
Watch Gardner Minshew tomorrow.
Tell me the difference with him in Baker Mayfield.
Tell me the difference.
And I'm not knocking Baker.
because I've said Baker's a franchise quarterback.
When you watch Minchoo play, I see Baker Mayfield.
He can run around a little bit.
He can be a little loose sometimes, a little looser than I like.
But this kid ran Baker's offense.
Remember, Mike Leach was his coach, Gardner Minchew.
Mike Leach is sort of the godfather of what Lincoln Riley runs.
So Baker and Minchew did the exact same college offense.
Go look at their numbers.
Identical.
And both had a different path.
Baker was a two-time walker.
on. I think Minchu was,
Minchu wasn't a walk on, but he bounced around
a couple of places. Minchew is
Baker Mayfield. The difference is one guy
got picked in the first round and has
you know, progressive commercials
and the other guy is, you know, nobody from
Pullman. Well, similarly, they
both play with kind of an
unapologetic confidence. Yes.
So, they're a little raw.
Right. But Minchu
has arrived as a
franchise quarterback. Like he's playing well
enough to be, to have that job.
I mean, he's gotten cosigned by everyone in the league now.
Like, he's, he is, that is his job.
This is an interesting game for Jacksonville, though, because, and for Miami, because
if Miami loses this game, especially after Singh Harvard, and now we've seen Joe Burrow,
that, that, Tua noise is going to start building in Miami really quickly.
God.
Actually, if I'd have told you before the season, Jacksonville, Miami, but you watch it,
and Greg Kosell set on their show 10 days ago, and he said it like,
Not smiling.
He's like...
No, he said it with conviction.
He said, Gardner Minch who's a franchise quarterback.
Like, you guys can talk about all the other college guys.
He is an NFL franchise quarterback.
Now, I'm not saying Jacksonville still wouldn't take him,
but we are running out of teams that need a quarterback.
Like New York Giants, Daniel Jones struggles next two months.
They may just bail on him.
Trevor Lawrence in New York.
Oh, my gosh.
Well, they don't have anybody else now that's Seqon's out.
There's nobody to market.
Nope.
Nobody in New York's watching the Jets or Giants.
The ratings came out last week.
They were shocking.
They were the worst in the league.
New York was the worst ratings in the league of any city.
Making you blame them?
No, jets are unwatchable.
But they're both unwatchable.
They're awful.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Lye News.
All right.
We'll play ready or not.
Things around the NFL,
I'm ready to admit,
or not.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we
don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
We don't know when we've done enough.

MDrive for men. Check it out today. Lean muscle.
Walgreens, Rite Aid has it. Take a supplement every morning. Okay, we're going to
play in best for last. Ready or not ready? We're two games in. Some things look pretty
obvious. Joe Burrell's pretty good. Gardner Minchu's better than we thought. Trabiski
is still struggling. There's other things that are not so obvious. Is Dallas this much of a mess,
or will they get it together? Or the Rams this good?
We're going to play ready or not ready with 10 different topics.
Here we go, Joy.
The 49ers are done for the season.
Ready or not?
Not ready.
First of all, they still run the ball, top five running team.
They don't turn it over.
They have one turnover this season.
They're getting Garoppolo may play this weekend.
And outside of Bosa's injuries, these are people that are coming back.
Their schedule is actually fine for two or three weeks.
They play the Giants this weekend.
win. It's brutal week six through 13, but outside of Bosa, all these guys should return by week
five or six. Justin Herbert should start for the Chargers, ready or not? I'm ready. Listen,
I like Tyrod Taylor. He has one 300-plus-yard passing game in 47 career starts. Justin Herbert has
one start and pass for 300 yards. This is an operation in the Chargers in Los Angeles between the Dodgers,
between the Lakers, between the clippers, between the options for people, the beach, the mountains,
doesn't have much of an identity.
They're the second most popular NFL team in the same stadium.
Herbert gives them juice.
And just watch him.
He's a big, strong kid with a big arm can move.
He's got a lot of burrow.
He's got a better arm than burrow.
So let him play.
The Jets should move on from Adam Gase, ready or not.
Okay, not ready yet.
But in two weeks, they play Denver at home.
You better win that football game.
they do have an egregious amount of wide receiver and running back injuries.
They have no starters.
Everybody's hurt.
Labian Bell, Jameson Crowder, Breschard Paraming, Denzel Mims, now they're centers out.
The Niners and the Jets literally have lost combined a dozen good players.
But in two weeks, Denver at home without Drew Locke, if that game's not competitive, it's time to get rid of him.
Russell Wilson will win his first MVP, ready or not.
I'm ready. Remember, the last two winners, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, have had great September's and got off to a lead.
And as you know, MVP's about story. It's hard. I remember when Carson Palmer in college won it and nobody talked about him for the first seven weeks.
And it was shocking because it was the last time I remember a Heisman winner that nobody discussed three quarters through the season.
Then he got really hot late and everybody and he won. Usually the way the MVPs go, you get a lot of discussion early.
you get a lead on the discussion and he either pull away or you hold everybody off.
And Russell's September is going to give him, plus the narrative he's never gotten involved.
I would say he's easily the front runner.
Tua should start for the dolphins, ready or not?
Not ready. First of all, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo is a good team and the good defense.
Ryan Fitzpatrick once again was pretty good against Buffalo's defense.
So Ryan can play.
Also, and this is one of the reasons I picked Miami to come.
cover the spread last week. In fact, I thought they would win is this was a really good team at the end of
last year. We like them. And through two games this year, New England, if you just buy into this
argument, New England's better than we thought, why wouldn't I look Ryan Fitzpatrick? I got another five
games with Ryan Fitzpatrick. I just, this team is going in the right direction. Just, just, the schedule
softens up in October, November. Then if Fitzpatrick struggles, we can move to it in. The Eagles will miss the
playoffs, ready or not?
I'm not ready to go there.
First of all, last year they started one and two, and they made the playoffs.
This division's horrible, or at least in the conversation for one of the two weakest in the
NFL.
We've got a lot of runway here.
You get a lot of time to fix your problems.
Also, they're without three of their top five offensive linemen.
It's why the Steelers last week struggled a lot against Denver, despite facing Jeff
Driscoll, but the Steelers were missing three offensive linemen.
let's let's let's let's let Philadelphia's offensive line get itself right physically then I can make
more proclamations and have a more conviction on what's wrong with it right now carson wends is off
just give me two or three more weeks let the offensive line get help and they have the bangles this week
yeah browns need to trade odal beckham junior ready or not i'm ready okay d'andre hopkins
kiner murray worked instantly like it doesn't take this long i mean by the way tom brady and mike
Evans, week two, it clicked.
So Beckham has gone,
O'Dell Beckham, Jr., 12
straight games without 100
plus receiving yards, five
touchdowns in 18 games.
Now remember, with the Giants,
he had 44 touchdowns in
59 games, and we
didn't think at the end, Eli was
giving him enough love.
So I just think
they have so many weapons, they're really
going to become a power running team. That's what
Cleveland's going to become. They're a power running team. I think
They'll do very well.
And so I just think they've got some issues on the back end of their defense right now.
You could solve.
Don't kid me.
There's several teams in this league.
I think Seattle and OBJ, you know, New England, if you gave Cam one vertical threat,
New England's a handful.
There are people.
And OBJ, to his credit, has not been disruptive.
He's been a good team player.
I don't feel this situation where, oh, he's got to blow up this culture.
Well, B.J wants to win games and make catches.
When he goes into infrastructures that are a little loose, like the Giants of the end in Cleveland, he struggles with that.
Brady shouldn't have left Belichick, ready or not.
That's slow down.
First of all, Mike Evans had a hamstring first week.
Chris Godwin last week missed concussion protocol.
Gronks just out of retirement.
Let's let it work.
And also, again, as I said with Carson Wentz, if the Saints lose to the Packers this week,
We know Carolina's rebuilding, and we know Atlanta's kind of a mess, and Dan Quinn's about to get canned.
If the Saints lose this weekend, Tom's in first place if he wins, and this is not, this division is not quite as good as we thought it would be.
So we've got time here to let this thing bake and work out.
The Packers are Super Bowl contenders, ready or not?
I know what you're going to say you hate Aaron Rogers.
I'm not ready.
Minnesota's not good at all.
In fact, Mike Zimmer's on the hot seat now.
They replaced, they lost two corners, their best pass rusher, and they've had injuries.
And then they played Detroit.
Well, I mean, they're a mess.
Detroit's a mess.
Matt Patricia's done.
So give me two more weeks.
By the way, their schedule coming up at Saints, at Bucks, at Niners, then we'll know more.
Cam is a good fit with the Patriots, ready or not.
Yeah, I mean, I'm ready.
Listen, the Julian Edelman Cam thing was so good.
you have to literally have blinders on or be anti-CAM
to not acknowledge
Nikiel, Harry and Cam works,
and Edelman in Cam works. It's like, okay,
if I can get those two to work, it's going to work.
Because I know the defense is good,
and I know they'll run with Cam.
Derek Carr is the quarterback of the future for the Raiders.
Yes, let me give you a stat on Derek Carr.
Third Downs matter.
He has 141 pass-a-rating on third down this year.
Derek Carr weapons at work.
Derek Carr can play.
Derek Carr can wing it.
There's a lot of Tony Romo there with him.
All right, everybody.
Love the show.
See you tomorrow for join everybody.
The Hurd.
