Well, if very few players can say this,
Robert Ory made the playoffs in each season of a 16-year NBA career,
never lost in the first round.
39 playoff series wins.
Now he does a great job, Laker analyst on Spectrum.
See him all the time talking Lakers,
and he is now joining us live.
Played for Phil, Popovich, Rudy T.
So I want to start before we get to the Lakers stuff, because you know them well, and you had some great comments off the air.
So everybody's kind of banging on Bam out of Bayou, and I know it was fun.
But Robert, he had 31 in the first quarter and 62 through three.
And I remember that Kobe 81 game.
Kobe scored 11 points in the last four minutes, and he was taking all the shots.
So can't I defend Bam out of Bayou and go listen?
When you go into the fourth quarter with 62, your boys are going to take care of you, right?
You're going to get the looks, right?
Yeah, correct.
You know, for me, we all make mistakes sometimes, and the information I was given about the game, I jumped to conclusion.
So I want to apologize for bam saying it should be an asterisk.
Bam, you deserve what you got.
You know, after watching the high license and so on the work you put in, I apologize.
You put it in the work.
It should be no asterisk by your game because, you know,
I'm a big, big band fan because he's only one of the guys that can play a few guys that can do it on both ends of the course.
So what he did was in a greater accomplishment.
So, you know, he should be proud of it and remind me he the organization should be proud of it.
More importantly, his teammates should be proud of it because they got him that, they got him that astronomical number.
Yeah.
So, Robert, I was talking about this earlier is that for 20 years when LeBron played with Adruna Silgoskis, got him to the finals,
when he played with D. Wade and Bosch, four finals.
And then he plays with Anthony Davis and it works.
And so I just thought naturally, oh, he and Luca would be great together.
But the net rating since Luca arrived and the defensive ratings,
Luca and Austin are better when LeBron's not on the floor.
So I thought the Luca thing, well, they both pass well.
They're both smart players.
It'll work.
The data's in.
They're not great together on the floor.
Why? Tell me why. What do you notice that worked other places that doesn't work here?
I think one of the terms I like a use of basketball players is specialists.
When you look at all the other formulas that he had, those guys were specialists.
Luca and AR are kind of the same. And then you throw LeBron and he's similar.
But the problem is when you have those three in the game, they're not great defensive players.
And you consider LeBron is a good defensive player. And Luca and AR OK.
You've got to have really good defensive players when you put that mix in the office because at the end of the day, you have to be able to stop someone.
And I know a lot of times in this game it's about you stop me first and then we just, you know, let the cars fall away.
They may on the other side of go up.
But at the end of the day, you think about it.
When you got that situation where you got to school, you got to have some type of defensive scheme.
And I think that was one of the things that's not talked about enough is about how well you play defense.
Yeah.
I mean, you play with Pop and Phil Jackson.
We think of Phil Jackson for the triangle offense,
but how much did Phil Jackson preach defense at practice?
All the time.
If you go back and look at every championship I've worn,
we would probably top five defensively every year.
And you think about when you have that guy in the middle like a shack,
like a dream, like a Tim Duncan,
where you can get up on guys and run them off the three-point line.
You've got that big dog in the back to block shots and guard the yard.
It's easy, but you look at the Lakers and you look at who's guarding that yard.
DeAndre Aiton is up and down.
You know, Jackson Hayes is up and down.
And there's nobody back there that can really guard the yard like I had.
We know it's Shaq, Dream, and Tim.
The, you know, I've said before, it was different with Magic or Kobe.
They're Lakers.
But, and I say this, I always defended LeBron for being mobile and bouncing around the league on his terms.
I defended him.
He empowered players.
It's sort of the LeBron empowerment of players.
Michael Jordan made the game global.
LeBron empowered players.
You guys, go look around the league.
And so the downside of that for LeBron is that there's not a feeling like magic.
Like magic is a Laker.
When he shows up to the games, people still stand instead crypto.
It's like, oh my God, there's magic.
Is that I do think, maybe I'm wrong, Robert, but you could move off LeBron, give him a statue.
I don't think Laker fans would be outraged.
Like I think they realized he was a mobile guy.
He went to the best situation.
He did what was good for business.
He doesn't feel like magic to me as a Laker.
I think a lot of times fans forget that it's a player's choice to go where they want to go.
And we get caught up and oh, he's a Laker, he's a cavalier or he's a heat.
You think about when guys in the real world, they don't like their job, they move to another job.
If they don't like to pay, they go to another job.
But when as an athlete, it's kind of, you know, it's like, no, you can't do that because you're this and that.
And I think the choice.
And I think LeBron, you know, him, KD, those guys have had the choice.
You know, everybody wants somebody to be like a Dirk and the Colvin State for 20 years and Tim Duncan.
That ain't the case with everybody.
They want to explore options.
And I think if he does get a statue out there, he's deserving.
He should get a statue in Cleveland.
He should get a statue in L.A.
He should get a statue in Miami because you think about what he's done for every organization.
Sometimes it's not about the wins.
It's about the butts you put in the seat.
And wherever he goes, he puts butts in the seats.
And so he's iconic in that situation.
So, you know, I think he should be, you know, praised more than years.
I think we give him a lot of grief because of the passes he makes sometimes.
Like, he shouldn't have did this.
But think about it.
The dude's been in the league longer than half the league's been living.
You think about it.
All the guys are in the league now, they were born when the day he stepped on the court.
And I think that's one of the things we have to look at tomorrow.
He's just a great athlete.
He's a great human being.
And more important, he knows how to keep itself ready for each and every game.
at 41 years old.
Austin Reeves, can he be a number two star on a championship team,
or do you need another guy and he's a three?
How do you feel about Austin?
I love Austin.
I think he can be, but it's going to be very important that when you have
Austin on the floor with someone,
if that other number one out there can play defense,
it's very important.
You know, you look at why San Antonio is so good.
You got Darren Fox, who's kind of like Austin Reed.
He can create his own shot.
But he has Wemby and his own shot.
and vass on all those guys who can play defense
that makes them able to shine.
And I think that's the one of the things that you can
go back at looking at a couple series.
Like when Dallas would play Lakers
and they would just ISO and go at AR.
Because what you do with a great
offensive player, you go at him defensively
to try to wear him out.
So his legs are tired, and he can't shoot
his especially as good as you normally.
So I think that's one of the things
that a lot of players like to do at Luka and AR
because they're not great defenders.
And if you go at them, it kind of makes
his legs a little tired, so their shots on as effective.
The, you know, the numbers are pretty clear when Luca LeBron and Austin are on the floor together,
it doesn't work for the reasons you've mentioned.
They don't have a defensive stopper.
But I also think there is something, you know, I was saying this, you could put a bunch of young actors in a room.
But if Denzel Washington walked in, all the young actors, and they could be the hottest people in Hollywood,
they would look at Denzel and they'd all say, okay, it's Denzel's room.
because so
LeBron is such an iconic figure
that I feel that sometimes,
and it's not LeBron's fault,
but when Austin and LeBron are on the court together,
like Austin's not as aggressive.
It's like, well, like LeBron,
I mean, he grew up watching, idolizing LeBron.
And so this is not a LeBron fault,
or nor would it be a Denzel fault
with a roomful of young actors.
But I do think it's time
to make it Lucas team
and Austin's team.
and LeBron kind of takes the oxygen out of the room sometimes because he's so big.
Is that fair?
Well, you know, the sports, a lot of teams have that hierarchy.
Who are you going to go to?
What you do is you go to the guy who has a mismatch.
And nine times out of ten, LeBron has the mismatch.
And you sacrifice your game for the betterment of the team.
You know, and if you look out, you know, think about Dwayan White, sacrifice his game.
Steph Curry sacrificed his game for KD.
And the great players do that in order for those guys are exceptional,
the upper echelon pounds like LeBron, to be able to shine.
I think sometimes it's up to the, you know,
if you know, sometimes LeBron be like, no, go, you cook, you do your thing.
But it's up to the player to look at or sit on the bench and say,
yo, man, I got the advantage night.
I'm hot, let me cook.
And I think AR has finally gotten to that point after coming back from the injury
saying, you know what, LeBron, I have this.
miss smash. You know what? Luca, I had the mismatch. Even last night's game,
Luca, kind of was like, okay, do your thing. Because we know how balled down the
Lucas being, because he has the advantage, you know, nine times out of ten when he has the ball
offensive. So I think that's a big factor in the communication part of the players and say,
yo, you know, I'm not getting in your way. I'm going to go stand in the corner and knock down
this three if you pass it to me. So I think that's what they have to do. Be sure to catch live
editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1,
and the IHard Radio app.

Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And we were thinking I'm originally calling it.
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers
was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down
on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title
for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris.
Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay.
Jenchian win.
I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, are you surprised?
Wemby looks like he's going to take over the league.
He's an international player.
The last six or seven MVPs have been international players.
The academy system overseas puts a lot of young players against older men, so they come
in to America, they've played against older dudes, they are highly skilled.
That doesn't mean we don't produce great young player. Cooper Flagg, Aunt Edwards.
Are you surprised, however, over the last decade how international players have taken over the
NBA? Not at all, because I think the way they have their system set up is so great.
I think our AAU system and our coaching system on a high school level is flawed because
The great guy, you just roll the ball out, then you let them play, and you get out of their way.
And you think about how many international players, you look at, just take their form when they shoot the ball.
Their form is almost perfect.
You look at American players.
Coaches are so afraid to coach now because the parents are in the ear, like, don't touch my kid's shot, don't disarm.
And then they don't like what's happening.
They jump ships.
They go to another school.
You know, you think about it in college.
NIL money is making guys jump school.
Nobody is learning the game, dude.
They're going for their money.
They're going for the best situation for them.
And that's why I like coaches like Izo.
Isso, he has that situation when he's trying to teach players.
He's getting players to be to go to the next level.
And for me, I just think we're jumping ships so much because when we face adversity as
players, we don't like it.
We want to go to the greener grass.
And the grass is not always greener on the other side.
And so it starts at the bottom in our farm system, sort of say, that we're not able to teach
players because players now are so sensitive when you yell at them or try to teach them they think
you're being mean and they want to move on with someone's going to pat them on the back all the time
sometimes you need to kick in the butt to get you started not a pal on the back so you played with
a keem you played with duncan you played with shack what do you make a what do you make a wemby
this is new iteration of the big man what do you make of him a wimby is uh extraordinary
you know he keeps saying using a term alien and i i when you watch him
he's getting better and better.
You think about how he started the season now.
He was more trying to take a lot of jump shots.
Yeah, we know you can shoot the jumper, but you're 6-7.
I mean 7-6, just jump-hook someone, get pains, you know, do everything because you can do everything.
And it's hard to find players like that.
You know, when I look at Wemby, I just, I see Dirkner whiskey at 7-6.
He's able to handle the rod.
He's able to, even though Dirk didn't play no defense, but when Wemby does, he's able to block shots.
He's a game-changing, you know, and I think when you look at systems and you look at the
coaching staff over there and, you know, you talk about culture and you talk about what was cultivated
in San Antonio, what guys just play hard each and every night.
That's why that team wins because those young guys came into a situation where they know
the cultural in San Antonio's play hard each and every night and good things are going to happen.
Yeah, Robert Orie, 16-year, seven titles, 16-year NBA veteran.
You won almost 70% of your game.
So you won.
Let's see, I'm going to look this up again.
This number, J-Mack, you couldn't believe this number.
So hold on.
Okay.
Third most career playoff series wins.
39 all time.
Give me, man, that's a lot of series wins.
Give me the loss.
Give me a series loss that you, that for years,
years you couldn't get over.
Oh man, my last game
as a Laker. I was in my last
series that we was playing San Antonio back
in 2004 the year they won.
You know, I had, I
would think I was like three for 39
from three for the series
for the playoffs. I wasn't
shooting it very well. I remember
Kobe kicks it to me in San Antonio
in my favorite spot.
I miss a shot of the buzz and we lose that game.
Then we go home to L.A. for game
six, the Spurs beat us, and they go
to win the championship.
And that haunts me for a bunch of reason because if I make that shot,
you know, we probably win that series because it gives us life.
But in the other flip side of that, the Lakers don't pick up my option.
And I lose a lot of money because they let me go.
Well, yeah, a hell of a career.
I watch your regularly on all the Lakers stuff.
And congrats in your success.
And thanks for coming on, my man.
Thanks for having me.
Also, you know, I want to appreciate you for having you for having me.
I've always been a big fan.
You should always kid you about Alabama stuff, man.
So I want to appreciate you for letting me come on and have this platform.
You played for four years for Wimp Sanderson.
I remember, I remember.
That's what guys actually stayed in college.
It didn't bounce around.
I remember it well.
Good seeing you.
Yeah.
Good to see you, brother.
All right, Big Shot Bob.
Robert Ory, seven-time champ.
That did just an insane number to me.
39 playoff wins.
Playoff series wins.
It's incredible.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So that shot against the Kings, the three over Weber.
I was at a bar in Dewebich, Colin.
It went bananas.
Dewey Beach, Delaware.
It was amazing.
I'll still remember that to this day.
People were going crazy.
What a big shot, Bob.
Such a legend.
All right, let's get started with Max Crosby and the backout in Baltimore.
Ravens say no.
Raiders are like, oh, well, we'll just trade him to someone else
who's going to offer two firsts.
And I think the discussion next becomes,
like, what do you do if you're the Raiders?
I think you've got three options, Colin.
Door number one, take whatever you can get,
get him out of the building.
Door number two, hey, man, you're not healthy.
We're not taking peanuts here
for a guy who may not be healthy to start the season.
Option three is you could trade him at the deadline
if things are going sour.
You know, rookie quarterback, you're not great.
Let's see whatever we can get.
A contender needs an edge rusher.
We get something there.
Is there maybe a door number four I'm missing?
or which one are you leaning on these options for Crosby?
My guess is, I mean, he was in the facility today, so it's not hard feelings.
I think, you know, Albert Breer said this earlier.
You could move him in the season.
I don't think it's as chaotic as everybody thinks.
I mean, again, he was in the facility working out.
He loves the Raiders, the fans love it.
And I said this a couple weeks ago.
I wouldn't have traded him because my take is you've got so many draft picks.
I think they have 11, 12 draft picks.
Right.
Your team's going to get really young.
And you, I mean, if I said to you, name the dependable Raider veterans.
You're like, Max Crosby, Colton Miller, and that's about it.
It's a young team with a lot of their, you know, like San Francisco's got some young players,
but their best players are all old players.
Trent and Christian and Kettle and Bosa.
It's like most of the players for the Raiders that we really like outside of Max
Prosby are these ascending young players.
So that's why Tyler Linderbaum, that's a good get.
That's an older, you know, four or five years in the league veteran guy.
So if they couldn't move Max, I'd be okay with it.
But they also got some veterans who have playoff experience, right?
Taran Johnson, the cornerback's been a lot of playoffs.
Linderbom, as you said, Quay Walker's been a lot of.
in the playoffs.
You had the,
uh,
Nikobi Dean,
a lot of wars in Philly.
Like,
these aren't just experienced guys,
but they've got the chops.
They've been there before.
I think there's a world where the Raiders kind of surprised folks.
Oh,
I,
I have,
seven,
eight games.
Oh,
I,
I think I would not be shocked.
You think it's crazy,
but we,
we watched New England last year.
If Clint Kubiak works as a head coach,
I would not be shocked if they sneak in as a wildcard team.
You know it's good.
You know,
you know,
we've done the Washington commanders, awful to NFC championship.
If the quarterback can play and you're not paying him
and you can surround him with B plus guys,
this Raider roster is not going to look anything.
Opening game, opening weekend, early September.
This roster is going to have like New England,
20 new players and 12 new starters.
And you also know how life works, right?
Sometimes you miss out on a job and you're devastated
and six months later something better comes along
And you're like, wow, I'm glad I didn't get that other job.
This could be a blessing in disguise.
You know, keeping Crosby.
Maybe it becomes a leader.
All right, let's move on to Bam out of bio and his 83-point game last night
against the hapless wizards, the tanking wizards.
Some people are, I don't know, not that impressed with Bam as, you know, at points last
night, Washington was like triple teaming him so he wouldn't get the ball.
They didn't sub him out up 20 late in the game, missing free throws on purpose.
Here's Ime Udoka, the coach of the Rockets, on the last night's 83 points.
Yeah, I mean, first thing you think is how, you know, because of, not because of him,
but because of the way he plays, you know, and I saw only made six threes,
but 40 free throws or something like that tells the story right there and the Washington Wizards.
Yeah, I mean, he averages five free throws a game, he got 43.
Yeah, I think you nailed it with the, hey, this is a special, impressive performance,
all-time stuff.
I think when you have 62
at the end of three quarters,
everybody just looks down the bench
is like, bro, we got to take care of our guy.
Let's get him to Kobe's number.
I think that's what happened, and I'm okay with it.
So I think it was Jalen Rose.
I'm not sure. Do you remember who the defender was
when Kobe scored 81?
Someone on the Raptors, and we remembered it for years.
Now it's been, you know, 15 years.
But there's nobody on Washington
who we even know because they're actively tanking.
Have you looked at the guys?
played last night?
Their ages were 20,
2020, 19, and 21.
They're playing two-way guys in hopes.
They're playing college guys. Yeah, exactly.
Michigan was probably
older than the starting lineup that Washington
trotted out last night. So, I mean, I get it.
It's fascinating. Still, it's 83
freaking points, man. Final Story,
Kong, Team USA Baseball.
We've got to hit it just one more time.
USA's playing the waiting game due to that loss to
Italy last night. It's very
clear. They need... Italy need to
beat Mexico tonight or Mexico scores five runs.
That's how the U.S. advances.
Here's Mark DeRosa after the loss last night.
Tough game, great game by Italy, jumped on us quick,
a couple big homers to kind of stifle the crowd a little bit.
And just a little, we had the right guys that the plate at the right time,
just weren't able to get it done.
So, again, I, you know, I'm not really up on Nolan McLean.
Colin, this is Team USA.
Nolan McLean had eight MLB starts, according to our staff.
Eight.
Why is he pitching in that spot?
Nolan McLean?
Team USA baseball.
That's a tough one for the young guy.
Well, I mean, he got bombed by Italy.
Well, you know, you get to these international competitions.
Yeah, listen, if the USA soccer team at the World Cup, you know, gets shelled for nothing in the group stage,
trust me, you're not going to handle it that way, you know?
Well, World Cup, it feels a little different.
Yeah, but World Baseball Classic is popping off.
It's doing huge numbers.
Yeah, I know. It is.
People are obsessed with the, I mean, the games are great.
Yep.
Yeah, I agree.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
we created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say,
Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world.
right now and I actually can win on any surface.
Because if she's serving, well, good luck.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes

So I
You know
Everybody's
I mean bam out of by you
I can't believe he did
I remember the guy's been a two-time gold medalist
Three-time All-Star
Five-time All-Defensive player
I will admit, I would not have guessed
Bam out of Bayou would drop 83.
But it's, I mean,
you go back to the Kobe game.
That Laker team in the fourth quarter,
Kobe has taken all the shops.
And they were blown out of a bad team.
I think a lot of it is people are just surprised
to Bamadabia, but he is an elite player.
If you're an Olympian, you are an elite
length.
He's been around forever, and they're playing a tanking
crappy Washington team.
Here was Janus on a,
his performance.
Incredible. Incredible.
Spick, podium,
seeing his hard work. I haven't seen
the game. I have to watch the game.
It's 36 to 43 from the line.
Get to those? Yeah.
It doesn't matter how you get
all the minds that you got it.
10, 20, 30 years
from now, nobody's going to remember how many
a free throw, he shot.
I don't think I remember how many shots,
Kobe shot, or how many three that he made or
all you remember is 81.
Yeah, that's exactly how I feel.
But it's funny.
We celebrated Kobe's 81.
We still talk in Hershey, Pennsylvania about the Wilk Chamberlain 100.
I mean, if John Morant, who is not nearly as good as Bamadabai,
if John Morant dropped 83 last night, everybody would be like, wow, he was cooking.
That's unbelievable.
Bamadabu is a much better player than John Moran.
if Zion
scored 83
and Bamah to buy you is a much better
player than Zion Williamson
I think people would have liked it
but when Bam does it
it's like well it's a lot of free
throws here was
wemby didn't seem quite as excited as
I am
did you see
at 83 tonight
and does that give you
any inspiration to go for some of the bigger
scoring numbers in the history
Yeah, so I think there's
We're playing in a league
where there's plenty of inspiration
To look up so
I don't think was that impressed
I do think
You know
When people say well
I mean there's tanking and the wizards are terrible
Just
Let's be honest
All dynasties
Usually come from a place
Of weakness
Is that the minute
Harbaugh gets
hired by the Chargers and Sean Payton gets hired by the Broncos.
Now, the Kansas City Chiefs don't feel quite as dominant, right?
Like, that's the reality of, like, LeBron used to get to the finals every year in the east.
He goes west.
He's not quite as dominant.
Nick Saban dominated the SEC.
And then one of his assistants, his best assistant ever, Kirby Smart goes to Georgia.
and then Texas joins the conference,
and Nick Saban is not as dominant at Alabama.
And so, you know, when anybody has a great dynasty or a great run,
I mean, Tom Brady, and we all love Tom.
The jets were in the toilet most of that 20 years.
The bills were absolutely in the toilet,
and the dolphins were always average.
The minute the Buffalo Bills got Josh Allen,
suddenly Belichick wasn't as dominant.
against the quarterbacks in his division.
He could not stop Josh Allen.
So, you know, I mean, the way I look at it is Kobe did his number against the lousy
Raptors team, and they kept him into the end of the game to chuck up threes,
and Wilk did it against a Knicks team that was 18 under 500, and Bam did it against the lousy
wizards team.
I mean, this is the reality of the NBA, and, you know, you go back to that Kobe.
It's just funny how we celebrate the Kobe game.
Oh, God, it's unbelievable.
He scored 11 points in the last four minutes.
They kept him in the game.
Here's JJ Redick on what happened last night.
I'll have to watch the tape.
I mean, it's incredible what he was able to do.
They've been playing great basketball lately.
And I said to my coaching staff,
oh, the heater rolling.
They all kind of looked at each other.
like, are you kidding right now?
I was like, no, what's up?
They're like, they're 36 and 28 or whatever they are.
They're getting ready to be 37 and 28.
And they're like, no, Bam has 77.
And I was like, huh?
And then I watched the last three minutes and that was a different type of basketball.
Yeah, they doctored it up a little bit.
It's okay.
But to me, 83 is 83.
You know, it, it, I just, we do this all the time.
People choose what they like and they defend what they like.
People loved Kobe.
Kobe could be a total ball hog.
Kobe was very difficult to play with.
I mean, I read that Jeff Perlman book, A Three Ring Circus.
I mean, it was hard to like Kobe when you got that kind of revelations and insight about Kobe Bryant, the teammate.
Like he wore every, he wore Phil Jackson and Shackout, other stars.
So I think it's we just, you know, BAM's not a guy.
I'm telling you right now.
If John Morant, who's half the player of Bam, got 83, everybody would be celebrated tonight.
That would feel fitting.
We just don't like that it's bam.
And, I mean, to get 83 in basketball, who are we kidding here?
You got to be playing a crappy team and things are getting doctored.
You're taking shot.
You're staying in the game that's a blowout.
That's the way it works.
Do you think that, like, you know, there's a lot of pushback online.
against this. I wonder if that's authentic or people just realize, hey, that's the only way
my comments can break through and go viral is if I trash a guy scoring 83 points. Because I don't
know, I'm seeing stuff like, oh, the Miami heat culture is done. I don't want to hear
heat culture anymore. Heat culture is forcing 83 points against a tanking team with some subbing
bam back into the game. And I don't know, people are really hammering the heat. People are saying
Eric Spolstra. I don't want him near team USA. No, it's nonsense. People are losing their minds over
this. Well, people don't have much of a mind to begin with that they're losing their minds over
this. Yeah. It has not. Spolstra is a great coach. And, you know, it's a moment against the
tanking terrible team of basically teenagers and one year older than teenagers. And they kept Bam in,
and he was getting to the free throw line. And it's, uh, if this were Anthony Edwards, Colin,
If this was Anthony Edwards who shot 43 free throws, everybody would love it today.
Everybody would think it was so cool because ants cool and Jommerant's cool.
And Bam's just a quiet, soft-spoken, hardworking, defensive warrior.
And he doesn't fit what we want our 83 points to come from.
That's all this is.
And there's probably a little pushback.
Well, Kobe's at 81.
We don't want anybody topping that.
Obviously, Kobe very well-loved, you know, merch.
just a awesome human being and career.
And it's like, I don't, people aren't really in on BAM.
He's like a center scoring 83 points, but shooting, he's got 22, three-pointers, Colin.
Is that, that's a little goofy?
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I think the stat line that's amazing is he had 31 points in the first quarter.
Now, I don't know if that's an all-time record.
It's got to be close.
That is a ton of points.
that's basically that's a big night for Luca
in 12 minutes
well Luca scored I think 70 or 71 in a game
Devin Booker had over 70
80s 3rd
Lucas scored 71 in a game
I guarantee you he didn't play a lick of defense
nobody cared hey
settle down bashing Luca
somebody stepped up their defense with LeBron out
I don't know if it was Luca Reeves
Jackson Hayes
Rui Hachymour
Lakers are playing defense against the Knicks and the wolves
might be Luca.
And by the way, now that we know
Lucas going through some stuff off the court,
family related, I'm sure you saw that story.
Like, hey, maybe we should settle down
bashing him for yelling at the refs.
You know?
People got stuff going on at home.
You don't know, and he's taking it out on the refs.
He's been yelling at the refs from his
first day in the league.
That's not a trouble at home.
Now I'm angry yelling at the refs situation.
I always think,
like, to me,
arguing with the refs is just,
not only is it time-consuming,
it's energy sapping.
Like anytime you argue with anybody, it's energy sapping.
It's like Luca, you barely have enough energy to play defense.
What do you talk?
I mean, it would be one thing if he was a Michael Jordan could sometimes bark at the
refs, but Jordan was relentless.
He'd play 18 holes of golf.
He was great offensively.
He was great defense.
I mean, Michael had weird energy, like beyond even like a great athlete energy.
Like I remember years ago when he played baseball and he was in the south like Birmingham
and he's wearing one of those jackets in the South taking bradding practice until he had blisters on his hands
because he was trying and he had he had one of those dark jackets on to lose weight and I'm like
I couldn't be outside for five minutes and it was 90 in the heat it's Alabama and he's out there
taking wax so you know Jordan is one of those guys where you got it on both ends so I don't have a problem
barking at refs Luca plays no defense it's
like, bro, save the very limited extra energy you have when you don't have the ball to, you know,
man a guy up.
All right, we're done.
Albert Breer, thank you for stopping by Robert Orie as well.
