Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was hiring. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come until he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the I-Heart
Starting point is 00:01:00 Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Your husband is not who you think he is. Your body is not what you thought it was. Your identity is formed by a secret history. I'm Danny Shapiro, and these are just a few of the stunning stories I'll be exploring on the 14th season of Family Secrets. He kind of shoved me out of the way and said, move. And he went out the front door, and he jumped in a car and drove off.
Starting point is 00:01:24 And that was the last time I saw him. Listen to Season 14 of Family Secrets on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
Starting point is 00:01:48 As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. Listening to Fox Sports Radio Well, you know, it's one of the stronger drafts in a while,
Starting point is 00:02:35 certainly better than last years. It is not a quarterback heavy draft. We've got one star quarterback at the top. Todd McShay does this for a living at McShay 13's, the Twitter account. College football analyst, draft guy known for a long time. So, you know, listen, New England went bad to good very quickly based on coaching hires and the ascension of Drake May, who was already in house. I mean, if you look at Clint Kubiak, who doesn't have Vrabel's, you know, pedigree yet, could be great.
Starting point is 00:03:11 Fernando Mennoza, Brock Bowers, Ashton Jentee, Colton Milder comes back. Defense are, they were banged up, but they've, they've, Max Crosby's obviously elite. Let's just talk about the offense. is Fernando Mendoza a good fit for Clint Kubiak? Darnold was, I don't think they're the same kind of player. Is Kubiak and Mendoza, does that work immediately to you? It works. I mean, I think we should start with the jumping off point,
Starting point is 00:03:37 and I hope we've learned from the Sam Darnold situation. Like, talent is talent, right? And I really like Fernando Mendoza. He's tall, he's 65, 220. He's got mobility for his. size, he's got a lot of energy on the ball, and he's smart. But he's not, if we're talking physically, he's not some of the guys we've seen in the last few drafts. He's not Caleb. He's not Jaden. He's not Drake. Yeah. He's not even Cam Ward. So there's that to unpack, right? And then the other part is
Starting point is 00:04:10 what you're asking here is the fit. I think he can be a good fit. I mean, you know, with Kubiak, you're talking about kind of his touch in 2025 on the Shanahan system, right? Outside zone, play action, on the move, bootlegs, you know, getting the ball out. They want to be physical and run the ball. And they've got the running back to do it. They've got to improve their offensive line. They've, you know, there's some things that have to fall into place. I think off of play action is where Mendoza does a lot of really good work. Now, it's an adjustment to, you know, the play action off the outside zone versus kind of the RPO stuff he was doing in Indiana. But both guys, I mean, he's used to, Kubiak, a quarterback who can be overaggressive.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Yeah. And he was able to manage that in Sam Darnold. You'll say, well, during the regular season, he didn't. Yeah, but in the playoffs he did. And you can see Sam Darnold continue to grow and develop. And he had his best game of his career, the second to last outing in the NFC championship game. So I think you'll see a lot of that. And it's the same thing.
Starting point is 00:05:15 When I watch his tape at Cal, Mendoza's, I loved him, and I was kind of the first on the train. He could be a first round pick. But I also recognize it's just far too many turnover worthy plays. Eyes drop when that initial pressure comes and there's this little quarter count of panic in his game. Still has that. But what Signetti and that whole staffer in the end was able to do is bottle up. Make his reads easier. let's read the cornerback on this two by two and let's make a decision if it's not there we can take off and run
Starting point is 00:05:49 but we're not going to get in a position where we're asking you to sit in the pocket go through read after read after read and allow yourself to get into some old habits so kubiak's going to pick up where they left off if mendoza's in fact the pick yeah is there um i mean outside of mendoza usually the rule is for the top 15 picks just take the best guy on the board There's about 15 special players every draft. And then, you know, if they're available, unless you've already got your tackles, take the tackle if he's the best guy. Is there a definitive second best player? Here's your mock draft. You have Reese, who was a remarkable linebacker at Ohio State.
Starting point is 00:06:27 David Bailey's really good. I mean, Ruben Bain, I like Jeremiah Love. I don't think he's a second pick. Is there to you a definitive got to take him at number two? If you're asking me that, first of all, I think it's the best prize. in this class is Rvel Reese. But he is a projection. He's 6-4-245.
Starting point is 00:06:49 He's one of those guys, like he's going to, if he works out at the combine or at Ohio State's Pro Day, it's going to get a lot of attention. He was a one-year starter at Ohio State after kind of backing up two guys that'll wind up be an NFL guys and playing in a rotation in 2024. His ability to cover and play sideline to sideline, the power he has, the length he has. it's unique, man, for an off-ball linebacker. But what you're doing is you're projecting him as an edge. Now, is it the same career arc as Michael Parsons?
Starting point is 00:07:21 I think people forget he was an off-ball linebacker until injuries happened with Dallas as a rookie. And then he becomes the edge that we all know and love now. I could see a similar arc. He's just not developed as an edge rusher. If you're asking me the best player in this draft, though, I think it's a different question. Prospect is Reese.
Starting point is 00:07:39 Player is Jeremiah Love. but he's a running back coming out of Notre Dame. I think he's just a stud. Oh, man. You think about like NFL films, right? With the music going with that camera view from behind the defenses, they're running like a freight train. It's like this combination of like poetry and beauty with the music going behind,
Starting point is 00:08:02 but also like just like devastation of running through tacklers. That's what Jeremiah love is. He's got this like kind of the weave. in and out the contact balance. You see that long run, obviously, the college playoff a year ago. He's got all the tools, whether you're going back to like Eric Dickerson or, you know, like the Emmett Smith, but he's faster than Emmett. If you go to Mod Bijjan Robinson, like he's that caliber of talent. Most teams I've talked to, if he's not one, he's two or three on their board. Problem is, again, he's a running back. So maybe he falls to Kansas City and becomes a treasure there.
Starting point is 00:08:41 for the Chiefs at 9 or maybe the Saints one pick earlier at 8. Yeah, boy, we agree with that. I could, there are certain teams here. I mean, the Jets could trade down and, I mean, they need multiple players, whereas Kansas City needs a specific player. You know, Tennessee Giants.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Could you see the Giants trading down? Like if I said to you, this team specifically trades up or down, What's a trade that seems feasible to you? Here's the deal with this draft, Colin, right? It is a really good draft. And it's a lot better than some people may think because the quarterback class isn't great. So everyone's already talking about 2027 on the White House lawn
Starting point is 00:09:25 and how special that group's going to be with Arch and Julian Seine and Dante Moore and Brendan Sorsby and all these other quarterbacks, right? This group is really talented at positions that matter that we're reminded of in the Super Bowl. Like edge, interior defensive line. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Offensive tackle. The wide receiver group is outstanding, even though there's not maybe a Calvin Johnson in this class. There are four guys that I think are day one impact starters in the league in Carnell Tate from Ohio State, Mackay Lemon from USC, Jordan Tyson from Arizona State, and Denzel Boston, Boston from Washington. But the issue is if you're trying to trade back,
Starting point is 00:10:09 and I'll be intrigued to see does Tom Brady Kubiak do they look at Mendoza and say he's absolutely the guy or do we want to trade out of this spot to a Jets organization that might want to move up or or Cleveland potentially
Starting point is 00:10:24 do we want to trade out of this spot when we get closer to the draft and load up for next year? That's going to be one story line to fall. The other is I don't know outside who's trading up. I can get this similar level or caliber offensive tackle or edge or wide receiver or cornerback, like later in the first early in the second,
Starting point is 00:10:47 is maybe I can get and pick eight or 12. So that's going to be interesting. I don't know if there's going to be a lot of movement in the first round this year. Yeah. You know, I look at Ty Simpson at Bama, and I do think he has a pretty good arm, but I've always believed you've got to have a wow trait. Now, that's why I missed on Kyler Murray because I thought he had a wow elusiveness.
Starting point is 00:11:12 And I thought because of a baseball player, the sliding, the elusiveness, the quick release. I was like, oh, that's a loose. And he hasn't been that. So I missed on that. I thought he would be better. I thought his trajectory was up. And then stuff that I didn't know about. I look at Ty Simpson and I'm like, boy, they had a great offensive coach.
Starting point is 00:11:30 They had great wide receivers. They couldn't run the ball. So he, you know, he had an unbalanced offense. what is the trait with him that Todd McShay goes, that's a franchise guy. Is it the arm strength? It's not a physical trait. And he's got two strikes against him, right?
Starting point is 00:11:48 Because I do believe in what's the physical trait that's excellent, that's different. And he doesn't have the physical trait. The other part is the 15 starts, man. It is, it's real. We've talked about it before on this show. There are a couple guys who are super, superhuman that have 25 starts that are great in the league, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. He's not that. Bryce Young will see. The verdict's still out, played really well down the stretch
Starting point is 00:12:15 this year and you can see some positive things. He's in that like 28, 29 starts coming out to college. Everyone else is like 34 starts or more. And so those are two strikes right there. The thing I will say with Ty, and I'm probably more on board with Ty Simpson than a lot of other people. If you go back and I can't wait for coaches to get involved, OCs, quarterback coaches, head coaches that are offensive-minded, you watch the first nine games of the season. Mendoza was really good. Ty Simpson was the best quarterback in college football. Processing, ballout, anticipation, had receivers. Ryan Williams is supposed to be as good as Jeremiah Love at Ohio State drops. He's got like the yips, man. Like he disappeared. So he's got Jeremy
Starting point is 00:12:59 Bernard, who's a really good player, is his only, like, reliable, consistent target for a while. Run game. I think they finished like 126 or 18. Like, how was that Alabama? And then they faced Venables, Brent Venables, defensive-minded head coach for Oklahoma, and they were able to show, okay, here's how you beat his protections. So now I'm behind the line, and everyone after that followed and, you know, fell in suit. Now I'm behind a line that's not protecting me great.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I'm banged up. I don't have a run game. And my best wide receivers decided to disappear. I'm telling you, this guy's got something in him. Coach's son, dad's been a lifelong coach, 18 years he's been the head coach at Middle Tennessee State. He's different than some of those other young, immature guys that have come out with the fewer than 20 starts.
Starting point is 00:13:50 So I could see him being the exception to the rule. But I don't know that it's going to be, I think with McVeigh, with one year behind Stafford, let's say, in that offensive system with a coach's son's mind, I think that could work. I put him at 13 in this mock draft. As of right now, I don't think that that's going to happen,
Starting point is 00:14:10 but wait for it. Like, too many, I've been doing this two and a half decades as we get closer without other quarterbacks, someone's going to rise. And I can see Ty winning over a lot of coaches in those meetings. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHard Radio app.

What's the news, name? Huge news.
Starting point is 00:15:37 We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:15:54 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:16:22 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. Starting point is 00:17:33 You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody, please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself.
Starting point is 00:17:47 And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Scyke. I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice
Starting point is 00:18:05 known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:18:22 Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the MyCultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what.
Starting point is 00:18:43 He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
Starting point is 00:19:04 He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court,
Starting point is 00:19:19 licking his fingers, why he got the bar. Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out. real quick. Ah, yeah. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a paramedipausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with De Anamereva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
Starting point is 00:19:57 All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with a new guy? That one's kind of hard.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to. try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Let's go back to the Super Bowl, wrap it up with this, Sam Darnold. Listen, when he was in Carolina, and it wasn't working, I was like, I don't know if it's going
Starting point is 00:20:53 work. I really like him. But I just thought, I mean, size, arm, athletic ability, leadership, toughness. Like, it's just too many things, too many boxes get checked. Where were you on Darnold when he was, it was man overboard in New York? I have a show that's twice a week, the McShay show, right? And on Monday, we released Mach 2.0, so I didn't really get into it. I haven't had my bleep you tour like you've, like you've been able to have with Sam Darnel. I mean, he was in my mind, and I put it, like, I planted that flag on Donald in a class that obviously had a lot of talented quarterbacks, including Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, Josh Rosen at the time, and Lamar Jackson, right?
Starting point is 00:21:40 I saw something in Sam that I thought was special. The creativity, the arm, enough mobility in the pocket, aggressiveness. And I knew the turnovers were an issue, but I thought in the right, you. you know, coach the right way with the right supporting cast, we could see something like we're seeing now. And was he brilliant in the Super Bowl? No, but he was brilliant and got him there in the NFC championship game. And here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:22:04 And I'm going to go on a tangent here real quickly. Two things came to mind is one, stay true to your evaluation. It's about the talent, but also you've got to figure out what's here, and you got to figure out what's here. The mind and like that toughness, the heart, all that. I saw all those things in Sam. The other thing is I get so tired of listening to people around draft season saying, well, if you tell me where he goes, I'll tell you how he's going to be.
Starting point is 00:22:33 We don't put enough emphasis on where he lands and too much emphasis on the player. It ain't my job, man. Talent up here and down there. And Sam Darnold was the best player in that class, in my opinion. Now, Josh Allen has developed more than I thought he would, and Lamar has developed more than I thought he would. All three are phenomenal. player. So is Baker. But I always saw this in Sam. And so this is my little chance to, like,
Starting point is 00:22:58 I haven't gotten any fruit baskets or like apology letters in the mail from the media or from like all the people that were just ripping me during his jets and Panthers Day. So I'm waiting on those, Colin. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't, I wouldn't hold your breath. No, not. We know how this works. From the ringer, Todd McShay. Great seeing you, but as always. Love your insights. All right, man. I appreciate it. Talk to you soon. Yeah. It's the Arvel is an interesting player.
Starting point is 00:23:26 You know, like he's what he's going to do in the NFL. He may not be currently doing now. That was, I like Bain from Miami. Like that game just translates. I think both those early Miami guys, hurricanes are really good day one. Carnell Tate's another one.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Really good day one. But it's a good draft. Good receivers, good tackles, good edge rushers. And again, I think I like Mendoza. He wasn't the best quarterback in college. football in the first month. He was in the first month or two. He was in the last two, three months.
Starting point is 00:23:57 I think a lot of that is his ability to improve and be coachable and listen and lead. And he's not going to wow you with his athletic stuff, but may seem big and athletic and coachable and a leader and tough and gets popped. And I like him. I think he's really good. He may not be an A plus plus, but I think Mendels is a really good, really, really good high-end quarterback prospect. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
Starting point is 00:24:29 So we haven't talked about your guide, Caleb Williams. It's been like two weeks, the Sam Darno Love Fest. I wonder if Caleb is not feeling the love, but man, what a good season he had under Ben Johnson. Just tremendous upside for Caleb and Ben Johnson together. Well, Bears legend, Brian Erlacker, love what he saw from Caleb, adding that he should be in Chicago's future for the next 20 years. I think that's a little rich.
Starting point is 00:24:54 But we did pull together some stats here, Colin, in the last 15 starts, Caleb and Ben Johnson. 11 and 4, 255 yards per game. Look at the touchdown interception ratio. He was exceptional. And you can only say they're just scratching the surface. This is year one. We believe, you and I believe,
Starting point is 00:25:14 Seattle and the Rams were the two best teams in the league. Yeah. I think Chicago's got an argument with about four other teams, depending on the Sunday, with Caleb Williams' growth, is Chicago third. They gave the RAM. I mean, the Rams remember, no penalties, no turnovers, didn't drop a pass. Maybe it may have had a one penalty. Rams played perfect in Chicago.
Starting point is 00:25:37 You know, in Green Bay, again, last time they beat, they beat Green Bay. If you start looking at the third best team in this league, you say, oh, Philadelphia, Ben Johnson's a better. coach. Caleb's a better quarterback than Jalen Hurts Nick Sariani. I don't think that. Caleb will be better. Is he better now? Oh, God. Go look at the numbers. He can throw over the middle. He can see. Super Bowl MVP. I don't think it's wild to say Caleb Williams is on a short list. If I said to you, by Thanksgiving, Caleb Williams top five quarterback, that's not a reach. That feels I thought at the end. are basically cemented, right? We would agree.
Starting point is 00:26:18 The big food. Five has been open. I thought it was hurts after the Super Bowl MVP when he was great. Some people thought Jayden Daniels. Justin Herbert's always been lingering.
Starting point is 00:26:29 But we have new information on Jayden. He struggles to stay healthy. That's new information. He's got hurt last year. Boy, I've been hurt. First year. Dinged up. Yeah, I mean, so there's new information
Starting point is 00:26:38 on Jalen Hertz. He's not great in the room. He really struggled seeing the field. There's new information on Kyler Murray a couple years ago. He's not really. I mean, so this idea that I get new information and don't change my opinion, if you're a pilot, there's a lightning storm, 28 miles out.
Starting point is 00:26:54 You want to go around it or right through it? You get new information. I got new information on the Patriots. They stink against good teams. Well, that's a bridge too far for you. All right, let's go to the next story. Colin, I love this preface. Okay, so the Seahawks entered the season as a massive 60-to-one underdog to win the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:27:13 So our staff found out the newest Super Bowl odds for next season. Super Bowl 61. Now, obviously, we have the draft and free agency. Here are the top Super Bowl odds. Rams and Seahawks are tied for the best Super Bowl odds next year. Followed by the bills, no surprise. I think Patriots are way too high. Eagles are up there and the Ravens.
Starting point is 00:27:37 I don't know what they're doing there. Here's my thing. A year ago at this time, If I had told you, hey, Seahawks, you got to bet on them to win the Super Bowl, you would have laughed, and you did like them. So, Colin, for me, I'm looking at, okay, so who are some long shots? Chargers. That's not a bad one. I don't know if their defense losing Minter is going to be as good.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I don't think their defense will be as good. I think their offense will be significantly better. They have a ton of cap space. They really like the receiver, Trey Harris. The tackles come back. Upgraded O.C. I think the Chargers are the Seahawks. Okay, I'm going to give you one.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Now, just remember if anybody had said Seattle a year ago, you would have been, come on. Sam Darnold, the Viking just kicked him to the curb. All right. I'm ready. Okay. So looking at cheap quarterback with upside, cheap quarterback with upside. Amazing defense, great defensive coordinator who is in high demand. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:35 And they're 60 to 1 right now. And that's a Minnesota Vikings. Oh, come on. See, I knew you do that. Why wouldn't I say Denver? Denver's not 60 to 1. They're going to be one of the favorites. Well, we know the favorites don't deliver.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Denver is a good bet to me. Cheap quarterback, great coach, excellent pass rush. Denver is going to be really good. I'm just going to remind you who just made the Super Bowl. Drake May, after last, Drake May's rookie year, nobody would have said that's the team, I think. Well, if you're going to give me a long shot, what are the bears? Bears are not a long shot. Broncos, by the way, are 1800.
Starting point is 00:29:09 That's not a long shot. Okay, what are the bears? 60 to 1. Okay, well, that's an outlier. What are the bears? So the Seahawks are an outlier. What are the bears? Bears are 25 to 1.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Oh, I'm going to, I'm going to bet a lot on Chicago. I don't hate that. 25, I can get 25 to one of the bears. Yeah, and you know. You know, my son's got another year of college. I think it's time to roll the 5, 2, 9. Take it to Vegas. Why you sell some jet skis by Bears' futures?
Starting point is 00:29:37 Bears at 25 to 1 is a bargain. Right. But again, so you. You scoff at Vikings 60 to 1, right? You just say absolutely no sound. I wouldn't put a nickel on that. Okay. Ryan Flores is back in Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Who's the quarterback? JJ. Maybe Aaron Rogers. I think Aaron Rogers. No, I don't want JJ. He'll be fine. Kevin O'Connell. Can I bet Aaron Rogers to the Vikings on any platform?
Starting point is 00:30:03 I mean, I'll take your money. I'll book your action. Oh, you'll book. Final stories to the NBA. Listen, this should have been first hour story call. This is spicy. Last night, James Hardin and Darius, not Darius Scarlett, James Hardin and Donovan Mitchell went off and beat Yokic in Denver,
Starting point is 00:30:19 a great win, a monster fourth quarter. Listen, Hardin and Mitchell all of a sudden is a dynamic back court. You could stop one, but you can't stop both. Colin, after the game, Donovan Mitchell talked about integrating Hardin into the offense. Gene found something that he liked when they played the offense. Him and J.M. He would phenomenal. Obviously, Sam, Jalen, and then it's tough.
Starting point is 00:30:41 you know, to pick. Do you guard him? Do you guard me? Do you help off Sam? Like, there's so many different things. Jaylin hits a big, their top of the key. Jay is getting his flovers. I come down throw Jay and love. Like, there's so many different things that we found and we still haven't practiced. We're just hooping off vibes right now. Like, you know what I'm saying? Just figuring it out. I like Donovan Mitchell. I think this is a... They won by two. I don't think the Nuggets are a great
Starting point is 00:31:04 defensive backcourt. Well, they don't have Aaron Gordon still, but that's a great win. Nuggets fans are irate at the coach. for not playing Yokic more. He's on like still a minute's restriction. He just came off an injury. Yeah, well, you didn't give that leniency to Austin Reeves. Also, you're not, you don't,
Starting point is 00:31:20 how do you scout guys that haven't played together? This is one of these, Denver's like, we have to watch them play because we don't know what they want to do. So give me your top three in the east right now. Detroit, Celtics, Knicks. What's your, I don't know what's going on with Jason Tate. There's so much chatter that he may come back,
Starting point is 00:31:40 30 games, but I hope he doesn't force it, but I think the calves are a dangerous. in a seven-game series, give me the Cabs over the Pistons. You fell for James Hardin. You fell for the Caves last year. Well, I didn't fall for it. They were number one, I know, I know. They were a good team.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Yeah, I got Nick's Cabs in the conference finals. No Pistons? No Pistons. Fools Gold, my friend. Sorry, Kate. I like Cade. Yeah, I don't buy that at all. They defend.
Starting point is 00:32:05 James Hardin, you know what he's going to do in the post season. I do. Not get the whistle and complain. J. Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News. Wow, there's a lot going on today.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Nick Wright and Todd McShay and, man, it's just the shows are flying by. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, new? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:32:41 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:32:58 Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing. a bit for the podcast for people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential
Starting point is 00:33:20 title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior. And that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. Starting point is 00:34:23 Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than that. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network available on the I-Hart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do.
Starting point is 00:35:41 So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How Hard Can It Be with the Adamania Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex?
Starting point is 00:36:09 Dating at 45. How high can it be? I'm getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask,
Starting point is 00:36:25 how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura Podcast Network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? fam, it's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:36:56 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:37:20 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court,
Starting point is 00:37:36 and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the Eye Heart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Well, Clint Kubiak just took over as the Raiders' latest head coach. We've seen this year a team that rarely replaces a coach, the Pittsburgh Steelers hire Mike McCarthy, and a team that regularly does the Raiders choose an offensive guy replacing an Antonio Pierce or a Pete Carroll, and here's Clint Kubiak. The main thing is, this is no ordinary job.
Starting point is 00:38:11 You know, this is the silver and black. This is the Raiders. This is a historic franchise. It's something that I'm very excited for. You know, when you say commitment to excellence, and you look at the walls around here, you look at the players on this wall, and there's a history of Hall of Fame players here.
Starting point is 00:38:32 There's a history of Super Bowls. And that's what the ultimate goal is, but you have to be about the work if you want to get there. Yeah, I mean, if they were in an easier division, I could see them double in their wins easily. This is the first time and a long time between the quarterback, the offensive coach, Bowers, they'll get Colton Miller back. They were all banged up last year. Aston Gentie, draft another running back. You know, we talked about maybe a Rashid's Heid.
Starting point is 00:39:02 You know, can they go out and get a deep threat? I think they need a volume receiver. but the Raiders, again, if they were in the NFC South or AFC South, I'd say they could win 10 games. I don't know if they're there. I like Mendoza a lot. So, SpyTech, the GM, I think you got a shot here. He's an impressive guy.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Immediately, though, the Sam Darnold is now going to fall off the flat earth. Everybody's now bailing on their Sam Darnold. And I said this. The AFC's got the best quarterbacks. The NFC's got the best roster. But what do we do with Sam Darnold in the NFC now? You tell me, who would you take it quarterback over the next three years? Nick Wright came on two hours ago and addressed that real question.
Starting point is 00:39:50 If the question is, hey, NFC quarterbacks you want for the next three to five years, Stafford's out of it, and then it becomes, like, would I rather have Darnold or hurts? I would rather have Darnold. Would I rather have Darnold or Purdy? I would rather have Darnold. Dak is a question. I think Dack has shown more, but Dack has never had anything close
Starting point is 00:40:17 to the NFC championship game Darnold just had, and he's older. So then it becomes Darnold against the younger guys. Darnold or golf, that's a coin flip to me. And then the younger guy is Caleb, Jaden, Jordan Love, who's about his age but feels youngs didn't play much. So those are all debates. I mean, if you look at DAC and Darnold, Darnold has a better arm, and Darnold's more athletic.
Starting point is 00:40:44 I would take Darnold. And I like Dack, but what do I talk about? Traits. Well, Darnold's got a bigger arm than Dack. And Darnold's more athletic. And Darnold doesn't have as many injuries. So, and I like that. But, I mean, the last month of playoff football,
Starting point is 00:40:58 well, I mean, Donald has a great team. Well, you weren't saying that when the season started. You weren't saying Darnold could win the Super Bowl. So they're there. I mean, Caleb Williams has a stronger arm than Donald and is more athletic. I think you can say, and that tells you how great. Caleb is. Josh Allen's probably got more horsepower.
Starting point is 00:41:20 There's a couple of guys with more horsepower. Not a lot. Not a lot than Donald. He's big, strong moves, arm. He's got big time talent. Not Josh Allen, not Caleb Williams. But then he's in a class of that, you know, maybe not Mahomes. and we start at four or five, and then you're like, no, no, he is better than most of these guys.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Well, Jalen hurts. Jalen's not as good in the pocket, and Jalen doesn't have the arm of Sam Darnold. So he's a really good player. It is interesting, though. People are already immediately discrediting him. Well, he didn't do much in the big game. Well, he's losing Clint Kubiak. Can we just admit, since November 27th of, what, 2022, when he was benched by Carolina,
Starting point is 00:42:02 came back, got the starting job. from that point forward he's got the highest winning percentage in the league with four teams Carolina San Francisco and Minnesota Seattle there's a lot of coaches a lot of coordinators a lot of teammates I thought Christian McCaffrey
Starting point is 00:42:17 said it this week at the Super Bowl J-Mack I don't know if you heard that Christian McCaffrey said I've played with him twice my first takeaway is dude that's one of the best players I've ever played with and he played with Luke Keeckley yeah heard it what was your response to it?
Starting point is 00:42:34 Well, I mean, I also heard him come on our show and gas up Brock Purdy greatly. I think he defended Brockford. Oh, come. I wouldn't say he went overboard. Listen, I get it. I wish my wife loved me as much as you love Sam Darnold. I mean, goodness gracious.
Starting point is 00:42:48 I'll stop here. I mean, I've gone to maybe a little overboard. Maybe not. Put up the Super Bowl odds again. I thought that were very accurate. I think the Chargers are going to move. Denver and the Chargers feel like top six or seven. They've got New England.
Starting point is 00:43:04 But the value, Colin, is in teams that did not make the playoffs, a.k.a. Seattle and New England. Like the Ravens, to me, and I like a rookie head coach. Lamar wants a new contract. That's not a Super Bowl team. They don't have a lot of good players on that roster. Well, they had six pro bowlers. Okay. And what's going to happen next year?
Starting point is 00:43:22 Are they all going to be back? I mean, I don't know. Kyle Hamilton will be. One or two standouts on defense. That's it. Are you sure they had six pro bowlers? I think they. Derek Henry. Sorry, timeout.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Pro Bowl doesn't matter. Shadour Sanders was in the Pro Bowl. Just because Shadour made it doesn't mean it doesn't matter. I mean, the Patriots couldn't have anybody in the Pro Bowl. The Broncos couldn't because of their playoff game. So, like, I'm not, let's not go to Pro Bowl. I just don't think the Ravens have a talented roster. Ravens, League High.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Oh, my bad. Nine Pro Bowl. Nine. Okay. You've got them being the Titans. They've got nine Pro Bowl. I mean, okay, they're not the Titans. I just don't think they're.
Starting point is 00:43:59 I don't have a pro. The Pro Bowl now is. Isn't it some like competition or something? It's nonsense. Come on. Well, we know that. Yeah. These Super Bowl odds, where are the bears?
Starting point is 00:44:10 Where are the Broncos? Where are the chargers? That to me, those are the three. I would take those all over New England and Baltimore. Where are the Vikings? New York Giants. A hundred to one. Wow.
Starting point is 00:44:22 There's one for you. You love the Giants. You said they're doubling their win total. From four to eight. I didn't say. You're cheating John Harbaugh like he's split And I'm serious. I think the Bears at 25 to 1.
Starting point is 00:44:35 I don't hate that. Your kids don't need college. They could easily do a vocational school. Don't go crazy on a 5-29. Yeah. A lot of good jobs down the block. Kids need to work hard these days. What are the Jaguars with your guy, Liam Cohen?
Starting point is 00:44:52 Interesting. See you tomorrow. The herd. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick.
Starting point is 00:45:01 And guess what? We created our own podcast. called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano.
Starting point is 00:45:29 It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come in to him, he's like, you know I love you, dog.
Starting point is 00:45:47 You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball.
