a lot of them in the playoffs he's a finalist for the Hall of Fame I'd vote him in when you have to game plan against a defensive player to me that's a Hall of Famer Jared Allen not sure if we've had him on the show is joining us live Vikings Ring of Honor. There he is. That is a football player, folks. That's what a football player looks like right there. Jared Allen.

So, you know, it's funny, Jared, about, I said Kirk Cousin's personality. He feels doubted. And he needed an offensive coach. And I said, just get him a guy that believes in him. They're going to do really well. They miss you. They don't have much of a defense. That concerns me.

Jared, I just don't know if you can win a playoff game if you can't control the line of scrimmage. Are you a little concerned? This Giants matchup, I got to tell you, that scares me if I'm a Vikings fan. How do you feel about it? Yeah, I mean, that's been the biggest misstep down the stretch. I've noticed is that on both sides of the ball, the line of scrimmage isn't solidified right now. and, you know, they got some players, at least on the defensive side. You know, you got a couple players.

I know you guys, Zadaria Smith, more of a lineback with DeNeil Hunter's playing kind of out of position. But the interior really needs to step up and really needs to sure up on the inside for them to have any, you know, chance of going anywhere in the playoffs. We used to always say, you know, your front seven on both sides of the ball got to be tough come, you know, November, December, January to be able to go anywhere. So I think it's concerning. I agree with you. I think like he said, you know, Kirk Cousins finally has some confidence. He has a coach that, you know, as a coach, obviously, you know, quarterback can help and go in that direction. I think the biggest thing the Vikings done have really have been balanced. You can tell when they're winning this season, they're balanced.

You know, Kurt might throw 25, 30 times a game. I've been saying for years, if Kurt doesn't have to throw the ball 40 times a game, you guys will be good. And that's not a knock to him. It's just, you know, in this league, you've got to be balanced. and he's able to play action. He's a really good play action quarterback, in my opinion. And so when you're able to not force him to throw the ball 40 times a game, I think you're pretty good, and you have to do that by running the ball,

playing good defense, which comes back to our front sevens have to be good. So I'm concerned that that's the stretch. I like that the fact that they went in to Chicago and won. Yeah. I think that's telling because that's not something we've done very well over the history that franchise is going into Soldier Field no matter what the records are. So that's encouraging. And I hope, you know, the couple bad losses and embarrassing losses they had,

hopefully that wakes them up and they go on a nice run and win the whole thing. So you were in seven or eight, seven playoff games. You had four or five sacks. It's really interesting. The season is three seasons. There's pre- Thanksgiving. Everybody looks good. The weather's warm.

Everybody's track is fat. Everybody's flight. And it's post- Thanksgiving where physicality. And then there's the playoffs. and it's hard, it just looks and feels like different football. So take my audience to the difference between even November, December football and playoff football. How do these games this weekend feel different, Jared? The energy level in the building is just different.

You know, when you're playing to win and go home, it's a different story. You know, the fans really, honestly, I think the fans will make it different because obviously nothing changes amongst, you know, the properties of football, so to speak. the field's the same, the players are the same, the energy level is picked up that the sense of or the, I should say, the sense of urgency comes over you, knowing you have to play. And to be honest, playoff football is totally different from what you said, pre Thanksgiving football. Pre Thanksgiving football, guys are still worried about stats, right? Guys are still trying to make the provo.

Guys are still trying to position themselves and whatever that is. There's contract, you know, incentives you're trying to reach. and then you get, you know, you get into December, now you're trying to win championships. I look at November, December, that's when you're trying to win your, your division, sorry, your division championships. And then you get into playoffs where it generally comes back to football at its core,

where it's team first, because it's win and go home. There's no personal accolades that are going to go anywhere, or that stick with you for the season. And so you really kind of come back to that core of team first, and I think that's what kind of pushes you to that next level, everybody's playing for the guy next to him. You know, it's interesting. I never think Farr of an Aaron Rogers are the same personality,

but they've become a little bit. You know what's crazy, Jared? Hear me out on this. They've become the same guy, and I always call it Packer Quarterback Syndrome. There's no owner, so nobody to call you out for your BS. It's the smallest town in the world, so there's no other pro teams. You are like the Pope.

You get really powerful, and you kind of, you can hold the team a little hot, hostage. Whereas, Jerry Jones, you know, with the owners, if you ticked them off, they'd just get rid of you. And so, Favre at the end was like, I'm not going to do this. I'm not going to do this. He talked retirement. And he's great. But Aaron now is, I don't know if I want to play. I don't know. And I said, well, heck, I could get what happened the last three years at the end of the year, I could get that out of Jordan Love. Like, if you're going to make me walk on eggshells, you've got to give me a bigger payoff than losing it Lambo. What do you make of this

Aaron Rogers situation? Is it time to rip the Band-Aid off? Well, I mean, it is, right? I wouldn't, I mean, yes, you've got him hostage, but I mean, first of all, let's just say, I mean, Aaron Rogers is phenomenal player, right? I mean, Brett Farr, phenomenal player. So take

that out, take all the games that they've won out. You got to go look where their cap is at, right? I mean, if it becomes a math game at some point, you keep throwing all this money at the guy and he himself isn't going to take you to the promised land you know what i mean i mean he's going to win you three four five six maybe games a year uh you know he played decent i think you know kind of to get them back the packers back into the situation get back into the playoff hunt there to win and get it but i mean here you are

win and you're in at home and you lose um you need he needs people around him right i think he's saying that without saying that but when you go and hold the team host is you make and you get what i mean i'm off about people getting paid give as much money as you can get but you know when the team you know into you for 300 million or whatever it is and you have you don't have a surrounded cash you though you then didn't don't get to go griping bitch about not having a surrounding cash where's help you right and i think that's where they're at in green bay right now they have so much financially tied to Aaron rogers and he's earned every dime of it but you look at tom brady tom brady wants to win rings tom brady constantly worked his contract you have players around

to him. I think he understood the role players and how to have those around them. And I think for a long time, Green Bay, I mean, Aaron Rogers would have benefited from having a solid run game in Green Bay. You know, they show spurts of it. They have it at times. They have players at times. But I can't remember over the past, you know, 10 years where they've had a really, really good run game. And you go back to looking at Brett when Green Bay, when he won the, when he won the Super Bowl with them, they had a great run game. Yeah. And, you know, so I think no matter how good quarterback is, you've got to be balanced, you've got to be able to run the ball, and he needs help. And so unless Green Bay or unless Aaron Rogers is willing to completely work contracts and rework,

you know, whatever it is to get the right players in there to help him, I mean, they might as well part ways and just start fresh, let him go somewhere that's got players. They'll pay him all much more money and let him go and try one another Super Bowl. You know, you're going to be a Hall of Famer, I believe, and should be. And you've been in this league. You played at Idaho State, if I remember. I'm from the Pacific Northwest, so I think it's the Idaho Vandals and the Idaho State Tigers, Bengals or something like that. Bangles, there you go, yes, you got it, Bangal. Not too many people know that. Montana Grizzlies, Montana State Bobcats, Eastern Eagles, I'm from up that territory.

So you spent some time with the Vikings. You spent time with the Chiefs. And one of the things I love about the NFL is the Midwest is represented. You know, the Vikings are in, the Packers are good, the Chiefs. Kansas City is a blast. What do you make, you still have a lot of contacts in the league. Mahomes is insane. He lost, he's insane.

When you talk to your buddies in the NFL that ever face Mahomes, because you have some of your heart in Kansas City, what do you make of that story in Mahomes? What do they say about that kid? You know, so I don't know anybody, most of my people I know in the league now are like personnel people, right? That's all I'm getting. uh, you know, trainers and that kind of deal. Um, but I think when you look at Mahomes,

you look at what he does is he's, he's a really good fundamental quarterback that can do some crazy, unfundamental things, right? Um, and you just, I mean, I don't know. I honestly, when I talk to people and how they want to defend him, I look at, you know, kind of when the bills play him, where people that have had success with them, uh, agate pressure is, is huge against him. Yeah. You know, you don't, as great as he is out of the pocket, I'll always take a quarterback on the run versus being able to sit back there and just just make plays in the pocket that'll kill you so i mean i think if you can if you're de-tackles if you're just talking about for us if your de-tackles can get pressure on mahomes up the middle then your edge guys can can actually rush and contain

and and and really i mean it's it's so cliche but you have to just collapse that pocket whether it's agap blitz whatever it is um but he's special i mean that's i think that's you look at the difference between you take go go back to erin riders and mahomes right both of them are good in the pocket crazy good out of the pocket but mohomes has Travis kelsey my homes has you know uh Andy reed who's Andy reid yeah you got but I mean you got you got layers of of people around him making him better and and I hopefully they keep it that way right hopefully as he gets older that doesn't progress where they keep putting more and more on him yeah but um I like the way because I think I think mentally and competitively he handles things right um I just you just don't see a moment too big

for him. You know what I mean? And they win the game. What I like it most about Kansas City is they win the games they're supposed to win. And I think that's indicative of a really good team is, you know, yeah, you're going to have some close battles at the NFL, but you should absolutely beat the teams handily that you're supposed to beat like they did in, went out to Oakland and whipped on them and took the number one seat. All right. Finally, Jared Allen. So the Giants, hey, they rested their quarterback. They rested defensive linemen for the playoffs. The Chargers said, now, we're going to play him, and Mike Williams is hurt, and Bose has dinged up, Murray, the linebacker. In your time in the NFL, Belichiko has played guys, other coaches, rest guys.

Where do you stand on play a guy, rest a guy going into the playoffs when you're already in? I'm a play him type of guy, at least for a quarter, at least for something. I mean, I understand you don't want guys to get hurt, but football, there's such a rhythm. I mean, I guess based on your player, right? If one of your starters is like, I need to rest, I need to sit, you'll let them do it if you, that guy. But for me, there's a rhythm to the game. There's a rhythm to the week.

And sometimes, you know, when you come back of a bi-week or you come, you know, from not playing or not having that game experience, even though it's a week, 10 days, whatever it is, in my opinion, it can, it can cause some issues. So it'll be curious to see, you know, what the, you know, what the Giants look like going into Minnesota because you're going into a hospital, hostile environment. He's not a young quarterback, but he's, you know, he's really his first year having much

success. I don't know. I probably would have played him a few snaps. Just kept that rhythm going and kept, you know, kept the mojo of a good season going. By the way, are you in Idaho right now? Are you in Minnesota? Where are you? I'm in Tennessee.

We live in Nashville. I'm about an hour north of there, but my farmhouse was actually roping. Roper on there. I had my dad pulling the rope and dummy. I was doing a little roping when you guys. But I realized, you know, oh, crap, I got an interview 15 minutes. I still on the horse. My dad, my dad grabbed both the horses.

I had them tied up to the fence. We were getting after it. Jared, congratulations on an amazing career. Finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I hope you get in. You should get in. Any defensive player who you have to scheme against and change your game plans, a Hall of Famer.

Good stuff from Jared Allen. Big fan of his work. Oh, God, he was great. And by the way, if I have to go to a game and I have to identify Ed Reed, yeah, we can't go. Or Sauce Gardner, we can't throw to that side. Jared Allen was, we have to chip block him. If you have to design game plans around a defensive player for 10 years, that's a Hall of Fame.

Let's start with a team who has one of those guys, T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, they didn't make the playoffs, but Tomlin did finish 9 and 8, extending his unbelievable streak of winning seasons to 16. They said it couldn't be done, Colin. He and Pete Carroll, Kenny Pickett and Gino Smith. How about that? That's coaching. It's an unbelievable coaching job.

Yes. Now, people forget they were in the playoffs last year. They got destroyed, but Tomlin was not supposed to make it this year. They finished 9 and 8. Look at this streak, Colin. This is incredible stuff from Tomlin. And again, if you're looking for a buy low stock in the NFL, Kenny Pickett is on a rookie deal.

They have money to spend on that offensive line. You're right. I feel like the tight ends in place, the receivers are in place, you like the running back? I thought Pickett over the last five weeks, five or six weeks. He was doing back shoulder throws. It's like, all right, we got something here. I think the biggest question is the offensive coordinator. Left a lot to be desired.

A lot of first down runs into the line of scrimmage. I just, you know, you remember how we talk about Miami has dudes wide open all the time? I just didn't see that with the Steelers. Everything is a contested catch. No, it's fair. You got to work really hard on offense. So Tomlin, work on the offensive line. Yeah.

Next up, Baker Mayfield, your guy, Colin. Rough start to the season in Carolina, but we could say he finished strong, right? Yeah. Came to the Rams, a couple nice victories, decent performances. Baker Mayfield thinks he can still be a starter in the NFL. I know I'm good enough to be a starting quarterback. I have no doubt about that. You know, today I'm not real happy with how I played.

You know, I'm going to kick myself over and over for not putting that ball on the side. line for Van on that last play. But no, I know I'm a starting quarterback. I'm confident in that. And we'll just see what happens. Well, I mean, let's be honest about it. If McVeigh is retiring. If I was Baker, I'd probably leave, right? I'd better go, I'll take the bag if I don't get McVeigh. But here's the other thing to think about. If McVeigh retires, what's Stafford do? Yeah, maybe you stay if you're Baker. Well, didn't Stafford go to L.A. for McVeigh? So if McVeigh bolts, I'm Stanford, I'm like, I'm not here for... Trade me, you guys need picks, you're rebuilding?

Right? I don't know. It just seems to me the McVeigh thing starts a lot of dominoes. If I'm Baker, I stay with McVeigh. If Sean leaves, then I'll go to Houston or wherever. I'll make my money. Chase the bag. Right.

If I'm Matt Stanford, I came here for McVeigh. I've got my ring. I'll just throw this out there. Am I crazy to suggest this? We're talking about all the... player moves. The Rams need draft capital. What if the draft, what if the Rams to get draft capital, reboot, and move Jalen Ramsey or Stafford? Or both. I mean, no, seriously. If McBey leave, Stafford probably goes to less need and says, guys, I got banged up this year. I'm not sticking

around here in a rebuild. I got no interest. And Aaron Donald talked a lot about retirement, got paid. I mean, maybe you just start over. Now, I will say this. People are going to start bagging on McVeigh. Oh, he got the Super Bowl. He got all his guys. Then he's going to leave. Hello, you know who did that in the NBA with a lot of success?

This guy named LeBron James. Hey, come to Miami. He sees it falling apart. I'm out. The smart guys know when to get out, right? I got no problem with McVeigh leaving the Rams. A lot of people upset. I don't.

I don't. He's tired. He's exhausted. It ran its course. Let's get to the final story here. New York football Jets. Have it talked a lot about them, you know, the end of the season with a six-game

losing streak. They were at 1.7 and 4, though, looked playoff bound, but the playoff drought continues after the loss to Miami yesterday. Ugly game, I know you did not watch it. Robert Sala apologized. I watched some of it. Before the team's collapse. I say sorry to everybody. Woody, Christopher, Ira, Jaime, all the players, all the coaches, all the fans, because I know it's been a long, long ride, but of not being in the playoffs. And I know it was raiding our fingertips and we're not going, but at the same time,

I just, I know we've come a long way over two years. And I'm excited about what we've got ahead of us. When you end the season, their final 33 drives, Colin, zero touchdowns. They didn't score touchdown on their final three games. That's not. I mean, look at these numbers, final three games. Now, they did have three different starting quarterbacks,

and they played Strevler against the Jags. Okay, I was thinking, nothing against Skyler Thompson, dreadful. The gap in this league, there's three levels of quarterback. There's the Mahomes class, there's about six guys, six, seven guys. Then there's the more than competent guys, Kirk Cousins, Dack. And then there's, you're in big trouble. The quality of athletes is so good in this league that the gap between the greatest quarterbacks and the bad

quarterbacks, it is so large now because even if you were great in Joe Montana's days, you could be rag-dalled, there were limitations, the numbers the great quarterbacks put up now, the gap. I mean, it used to be you'd have a really great quarterback, and then

Jeff Hostetler. That's right. One was better, but it didn't feel like the Grand Canyon. I mean, Mahomes, Alan, Herbert, these guys are so much better. If they're the top, five, but the time you get to like 12, the gap, the sport is built now for great quarterback play and wide receiver play. I mean, there are teams this weekend that are hard to watch.

Miami Jets. That was brutal. I'll say this. Garrett Wilson looked incredible. It's basically like Garrett Wilson's awesome catching passes from anybody except Zach Wilson. And Colin, for the Jets fans who are down in the dump, we've talked a lot about maybe Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo. Listen, if Matt Stafford is available, we know Shanahan and his system loved Matt Stafford. Well, you got the Shanahan system in LaFleur with the Jets. Do the Jets say, hey, you want picks? Give us Matt Stafford. Matt Staffer to the Jets for a slew of draft picks, and the Rams are like,

all right, McVeigh's gone, we lose our quarterback. And all of a sudden, the Jets have a quarterback, and a top flight defense in a division with Josh Allen, Bill Belichick, Tua, Can the Jets? They need a quarterback, Colin. They got to make a move on somebody. Carr, Garoppolo, Stafford? Matt Stafford.

No, you think it's crazy? Matt Stafford. If McVeigh leaves, Matt Stafford had, he got crushed. He's fresh. He didn't play much this year. Look how much money Matt Stafford's make. He's from the South.

He's from Texas. His wife is from Atlanta. He has no loyalty to the West Coast. Big arm. Cut through in that bad New York. York Weather, Detroit played in the NFC.

Let's start that as a rumor. Stafford to the Jets is something to think about. If McVeigh leaves, Matt's got no, he doesn't want to be part of a rebuild. He lost all those years in Detroit. He got a lot of teams that want Stafford.

The Jets have the draft capital, and they've got every, not every position, but they're really well built except for quarterback. And left tackle. Yes. Although, Mackay Beckton talked to the media today.

I know we know everybody cares, but he looked thin. He looked thin. He didn't, he's not trying to eat his way out of the league, which is what many people, speculated. Jay Mack with the news.

I mean, it's, Gino was way better pre- Thanksgiving than post-Thanksgiving. giving Seattle, three and five in their last eight games. It's just a bad matchup personnel-wise. Their best players are young kids.

The Niners' best players are veterans. I think it's kind of a place. Is this a beat down to Magic 8 Ball? Don't count on it. I mean, it's a convincing win. Yes. Next up, Magic 8 Ball. Will the Jaguars beat the Chargers?

Ask again later. You know the Jags didn't gain a single first down on the fourth quarter against the Titans. So, again, it's a big spot for a young team. Also, Chargers, Mike Williams, we don't know if he's going to play. Let's just watch the injury report

for the next week. All right, next up, Magic 8 Ball. This is a tough one. Will the Dolphins, who might have Teddy Bridgewater, a quarterback, upset the bills? Magic 8 ball says, my sources say no. Eight of the last nine times they've played, Buffalo's won.

Tyree kills her, Terran Armstead. Austin Jackson. So the dolphins would have to be at full strength. Backup quarterback, O-line injuries, I think it's Buffalo in a route. All right. So Magic 8-Ball wants to take on the biggest game. Will the New York Giants upset the Vikings on the road? Most likely. How about that? Listen, Vikings' worst point differential by any team to win 13 games at a season. Kirk Cousins has struggled in big games. All Minnesota games are close. The Giants are healthy and rested. And Brian Dayball is the coach of the year. Upset alert. Take the Giants. Okay. Rematch from week 18. Will the Ravens upset the Bengals on the road, Magic 8 Ball?

Magic 8 ball says, no, that's probably, that's probably not going to happen. Outlook not so good. Ravens are 3 and 8 without Lamar Jackson. And since week three, the best quarterback in the National Football League since week three is Joe Burrow. Situationally excellent, unbelievably accurate, plus the run game and a better than you think defense. I like Cincinnati again. All right. I think this is the only one we disagree on, but what does the magic eight ball say for

bucks upsetting the Cowboys? Home Dogs is Tampa. Signs point to yes. Dallas has never beaten Brady. Dak has seven straight games with an interception. And Dallas has had multiple. giveaways. They're getting sloppy in four of their last five games. You don't win playoff games if you're loose with a football. I think Dallas should win. The Magic 8 ball likes Tampa.

Interesting. All right. Let's look forward to February Magic 8 ball. Will the Chiefs make the Super Bowl? Ask again later. No confidence. Okay, now Andy Reed is 21 and 3 after a buy. So they'll win their first round game. But the defense is a little It's a little inconsistent. I worry about their matchup with Cincinnati along the way. I think Cincinnati matches up very well with this team. Beat them three times. All right, Magic 8-Ball.

NFC, really a two-team race, but will the Eagles make the Super Bowl? Again, ask again later. Now, Jalen Hertz has won 17 of his last 18 regular season games, but they're a little banged up here. Lane Johnson-Right tackle, one of their top defensive tackles. This is not the September-October Eagles. They are beat up a little bit. I think a couple of these games are going to be tight.

All right. Next up, Magic 8-Ball. Josh McDaniels, will he remain head coach of the Redis? Most likely, they've had a lot of chaos, but it's the end of a Derek car era, so it's the beginning of the Josh McDaniels and his own quarterback era. Now, they lost five games with a double-digit lead, so they've got to clean that up. Some of it is. They're secondaries a mess.

They are not built to maintain leads. They have a lot of picks potentially. Could get another one with Derek Carr. Draft corners, safeties. That secondary is the biggest problem of the team. Secondary is a mess. Yeah, next up, we've talked a lot about this today. Will Sean McVeigh remain head coach of the Rams?

Hold on. It's very fuzzy. Ask again later. Four playoff appearances in six years, but now he doesn't have a roster that is close to San Francisco, his rival. I don't know if it's a burnout, but Amazon, maybe Fox,

some of these broadcast entities. If Sean Payton takes a job, does he come over here? He's got a lot of options. I don't think Sean McVeigh wants a rebuild. Next up, Magic 8-Ball. Will Brandon Staley remain head coach

of the Chargers? It says wait until next Monday. If they lose. I mean, he's night. 19 and 15 with Justin Herbert. 19 and 15, and that's with the chaotic Raiders and the Nathaniel Hackett mess. So it's not like the division's been as strong as it could be. Now, Herbert and Staley have been okay against the Chiefs,

but 19 and 15 with a really solid roster? I don't know. Is it crazy to think two coaches are coaching for their future in the Wild Card round? McCarthy and Staley? It feels unfair, but... I think you're right on the Cowboys, but the Magic 8 Ball... We'll wrap up. Let's see if the Magic 8 ball can get right with TCU, big underdog.

Upsetting Georgia in the college football Natty tonight. Right here at SoFi? Yeah, very doubtful. Yeah, okay. Georgia is a recruiting powerhouse, number one rush defense in college all season. They don't have a formula to win. They had games where they played poorly offensively in one. They had games where they were outplayed Ohio State in one.
