This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcasts. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern 9 a.m. to noon Pacific.
Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR.
Now let's get this party started.
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Labor Day weekend.
Kids are going to be back in school next week.
Pumpkins, spiced.
Everything.
Back to school.
To prove to dad, you're not a fool?
You got to rock your new kicks this week, kiddies.
That's a mandatory rule.
Kids today get way too sloppy with their pajama pants and their crocks.
Get those new kicks.
Pick out your first back-to-school outfit with your little backpack and your trapper keeper.
I'm trying to bring the trapper keeper back by the.
the way. We're so cool. As far as school supplies, you gotta bring your best. I'll give you a top
three before we get into some NFL stuff. Oh, nice. Rich's top three. Before we get into
weird advice you got from odd people a la Andy Reed. If you were going to go old school
school supplies, would you go trapper keeper? Yeah, that's number one. Would you go the pen
with the four different colors that you could change? You try to get them all out once.
I can't do it.
Danny G.
Remember the pencils that you would look like you were giving yourself a needle?
How about the peachy folder where everybody drew a hot dog or something different that the runner was carrying?
Those weren't hot dogs.
Do you remember?
I remember this Scratch and Sniff sticker.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Well, back to school.
Get some new sneakers.
That's my advice to the kids.
And hit yourself over your own head with the crock that you're wearing.
Don't let your kid wear crocs.
better than that.
And by the way, listen, unless you're broke,
don't send your kids to school on day one with dirty-ass sneakers they've been wearing
all summer.
I know.
At least take a magic eraser to those bad boys.
Yeah, clean them up.
So, hey, good luck with the new school year.
You got football coming back.
Kids are back to school.
It's a good time to be alive.
We're happy to be here in for Colin on the herd.
Covino Enrich.
Again, at Covino and Rich.
And subscribe to our podcast if you're busy during the day to listen to our regular
show.
Just search Covino and Rich.
you about Andy Reed. And I'm reading all the feedback.
Yeah. So many
people commenting on
Tom,
the guy that called up,
that said, oh, he told us to hold?
What a bozo. I hate that guy.
I hope he has a bad day. People seem
to love him. Really? Oh, more Tom?
Feedback. Ratings. Tom was hilarious.
You guys handled Tom. That was hilarious.
Tom, Tom, Tom. Who knew?
The guy's a star. You know, hey.
So Andy Reed
says he was once approached by a janitor in Green Bay
who had a play concept for him.
Now, you have to really think about that.
I'm not saying anyone big times a janitor.
In fact, if that's in your character to do so,
you're no friend of mine.
You're a piece of garbage.
You're right, right.
But I'm saying Andy Reid's an important dude.
He's probably trying to get the places, right?
Hey, Mr. Reed.
He stops and says, oh, hi.
Hey, what's going on?
Is this a janitor that, uh,
What's going on, sideburns?
Yeah, is this a janitor that helped get info on Billy Madison?
The car is green.
Right?
Billy.
Yeah, so the janitor says he had a play concept for him,
and Andy Reid not only took time out of his day to say,
oh, yeah, nice to meet you.
Tell me about it.
Because, all right, let's be real for a second.
If some gibrony off the street was like, yo, Kavino,
here's what you need to do.
I might be like, yeah, yeah, nice to meet you, man, whatever.
One ear out the other.
Be real about that.
You might be nice.
You'd be kind, but you're courteous, but you're like, yeah, what do you know about to beat it?
No, he should do on your radio program?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, tell me, tell me, yeah.
All right, all right, later, bye.
Hey, nice to meet you, man.
So I'm not saying I'd be rude, but I'm not taking some guy's advice.
So not only was Andy Reid kind in the moment, he was like, you know,
this guy might be on to something.
He ended up incorporating this play that a janitored him into a game,
and he got a touchdown out of it.
That's Sports Illustrated via Greenlight with Chris Long.
And it's a cool story.
It made us think getting advice from an unlikely source.
And we all have stories.
We all have examples.
You want to share your story.
By all means, 818-907-00-6-2 and at Covino and Rich.
Yeah, let me give that number again.
It's a new number for the Heard Studio.
818-907-0062.
CNN.
In for Colin.
Now, off the air a few minutes ago.
you and I were saying if you watch Swamp Kings about the Florida Gators.
Urban Meyer, there's a whole part of one of the episodes where he said the second he got off a plane.
It was strangers coming up.
And strangers being like, you need to draft Tebow.
This kid Tebow.
Yeah, Tim Tebow.
He said he'd never heard of him before.
You guys need Tebow.
Yeah.
And he's like, Tebow, huh?
And eventually one more random person came up to, hey, coach Meyer, nice to meet you.
You need to draft Tim Tebow.
You know what?
Let me figure out who this Tebow guy is.
And that's how it happened.
From an unlikely source, from strangers.
One too many people said you got to recruit Tebow, get him to Florida, and the rest is history.
Now, Ryan, you were saying it doesn't always work.
Well, I think probably the most infamous story going back to the Browns and their rotation of quarterbacks that they've tried to bring into the fold over the years.
Are you insinuating the Brown's quarterback position hasn't been stable for our lifetime?
It's been a bit tenuous. It's been a bit tenuous.
So as the story goes, reported by Sal Palantoneo at the time,
Jimmy Haslam was walking the streets in Cleveland,
and a homeless man on the street came up to him and said,
you need to draft Johnny Mansell.
And apparently, that's what provoked him to making the decision,
overriding the front office who had been recommending,
I believe it was Teddy Bridgewater at the time.
Don't you think like that's like his way of being like,
I'm a man of the people.
Like, you know what?
I'm putting my ego and billions aside.
That is a really funny story.
Hobo Williams.
You know you love it.
Hobo Williams is the old homeless guy with the golden voice.
That was a story years ago.
I read the macaroni and cheese commercials.
You know you love it.
You need to draft Mansell.
So, again, want to show you.
your stories and it's a reminder
that hey you never know where
life changing advice
could spark
an epiphany perhaps or a
life changing moment for you.
You know it took the time to listen to
what that person was saying
and you know we've all been given advice
throughout our life throughout our career
could be from an unlikely source. It's not always
from your best pal. It's not always from
your father. Your pal Antonio? I'm sorry
your Sal Palantonia. It's not always
from you know someone that you know
really well. Being a radio host, you have people hitting you up all the time through social media
to tell you you you suck. Where's Colin? All that kind of stuff, right? But every once in a while,
too, you'll get someone that hits you with some good advice or says nice things. And Rich and I've
been doing radio for, man, for a long time, let's say that. And we've all gone through ups
and downs throughout our career and throughout life. And one time I was going through marital issues,
which led to a divorce, which a lot of people could relate to that.
And I remember I was just in the worst spot possible.
But I was doing my best on the radio.
Hey, my guest bedroom is not the worst spot.
Yeah, I ended up in Rich's guest bedroom.
I mean, it's a whole story, right?
It's not the worst spot.
But I remember, because you're looking for inspiration.
You are.
And you'll grasp at anything.
But this really did mean something to me at the time.
Reading it now, it's like, all right, whatever.
But at the time, I remember how low one.
crappy, I felt.
A listener by the name of Cloveman hit us up and he's like, hey, Steve, check this out.
Because it really helped me when I was going through a tough time.
I'm like, oh, okay.
And I didn't know Clove Man personally, but I knew that he was a listener of our show.
And it was just a meme of an arrow.
And it said, an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards.
So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you
into something great.
so just focus and keep aiming
and I'm like yeah man I can't be dragged back
any further than I am right now
I'm living in my buddy's house
you know I have a family that's falling apart
everybody hates me I'm the worst right
is that why you got an arrow tattooed on your butt cheek
why do you think I got this arrow
no I think it's weird that it's pointing you know
dragging you back which means you're going to be launched
so I was just like you know what
it's a good quote just getting ready to get launched into
something bigger. Whatever I was
involved in before wasn't right for me.
This is all meant to take me
somewhere bigger and better. And it did.
Hey, here we are all these years
later on the herd Fox Sports Radio and life
is good. And anyone
struggling. No, but you got
to see at a low point. Like right now
what I just said may have
inspired someone else who's like,
you know what, that's a kind of good way
to look at this crappy
situation, whatever it may be. Everybody
goes through things. Yeah, I remember I was
And again, unlikely source.
That wasn't a close friend of mine that said that.
Yeah.
I mean, I have a story.
I have a quick story I'll share.
But if you want to chime in on this, the number again, 818-907-0062, and you could also say unlikely advice.
But would you think it's a cool trade or an odd trade?
If you found out your general manager, your coach, the team you rue for, I'm a Niners fan.
If he told me, yeah, Kyle Shanahan, you know,
that play he ran last week that, I don't know, fell flat or all that sweep to Debo Samuel that,
you know, put them ahead in the third quarter.
He was the guy at Chipotle, told him.
It's not impossible.
No, but do you like, is that a good character trait?
Listen, I'm not too good to listen to someone else.
Yes, that's also the point of this conversation.
You're not a pretentious.
I know everything type of guy.
But you also don't want to be the guy that's like, I get all my advice from, you know,
Randos.
No. I mean, not everybody's giving great advice, but that's for you to decipher.
This radio, this topic right now, I got from a dude at the sauna at the gym.
No, but when I was in my 20s, Ryan, I was dating a girl that was, she was good looking.
She was cool, but she was, how do I put this?
A pain in my ass.
Pain in the ass.
Yeah, she was cool.
And, you know, I still communicate today, you know, 15 years later.
But she wanted to get married.
And I knew that she was difficult.
Loving, beautiful, smart, but difficult.
And I would take the bus.
Listen, when you live on the East Coast in New York,
people take subways, buses.
It's not like weirdo behavior.
So I would see the same guy on the bus every day in Brooklyn.
And he's like, man, the way you talk about this girl is identical.
Well, because she would break your chops, bust your chops on all sorts of little.
jealousy this where are you what are you and he's like you're describing my ex-wife i promise you
beware and he's like goodbye i'm like what's your name he's like tom bus tom is sort of the reason
i broke up with this girl after five years he planted that scene he planted the scene like bus tom is
he was sent to me and like i said in these moments of confusion or you're just looking for something
um it just hits you a little harder in those moments
right so rich was looking for some sort of advice or inspiration or a moment from somebody a sign
and it was some random guy on the bus thank you angel wearing jeans like we said before and rich as a
result kept that advice close to him didn't marry that girl and you know what it worked out
better for both of you yeah she found a guy way more handsome than you i mean she found a guy way
I mean, she found a guy that treats her great, puts up with her, loves her to death.
They have beautiful kids.
And you found your beautiful wife and you have beautiful kids.
So, again, and it was from an unlikely source, but you were in a place to listen.
And that's part of the story here.
And that's cool about Andy Reid.
I don't know if you realize this, that Doug Peterson, you know, the Philly Special Play.
He got that actually at Gino's cheese.
No, get out of here.
By the way, do you want whizwit?
You're making that up.
By the way, you should run this thing where the quarterback is the wide receiver.
So advice from a random source.
Oh, remember that little ring around the rosy play they executed this year?
That was from a school kid that Andy Reid ran in too.
All right.
I just have one question going back to the girlfriend conversation.
So when you are going to break up with her, did it start like this?
It's not you.
It's bust Tom.
It's bus Tom.
It's Bus Tom.
He's responsible.
She's probably hating Bus Tom.
I didn't necessarily bring up Bus Tom, but in my head, I was like, yeah, like, in my mind, I'm like, she's great, but this is not, it's just something's not right.
Bus Tom was sent to me.
Don't ignore it.
I'm not Jimmy Haslam.
I'm still talking to a hobo.
But still, much like Andy Reid, getting a good play from a stranger, sometimes good advice can come from an
unlikely source. Listen, we're going to take
your feedback, we're going to take your calls.
Everybody on the phones, hang tight. We'll get to your phone calls.
818907-0062.
We got more. Coveino and Rich.
In for Colin on the herd. Next.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd

Do you remember when Diana Ross
double-tap little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little camp?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you,
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed correct.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

and honor. And for Colin
on the herd 818-907-0-0662.
Now, a few people on hold, Rich.
And then we got to talk more football.
So we talked about a lot today, but
to wrap up the whole
advice from unlikely people,
I wouldn't say base
the big decisions all the time on some random person.
But like Andy Reid getting a pretty good play from the janitor.
But it could be a sign, though.
Could be a sign.
You got to pay attention to those things.
Don't ignore those things.
But also don't make all your big life decisions based on, you know, the random person you
bump into on the street.
No, of course not.
We learned that lesson.
We heard the Johnny Mansell story.
Exactly.
Okay.
So let's talk to Hank in Virginia.
I think he wants to talk Aaron Rogers.
Hey, what's up, Hank?
Yeah, man. What's up, buddy?
You guys are awesome, man.
I've been listening to y'all for a couple of months.
I used to bust your chops a little bit, but you guys always took it in good fun.
And I think it's the reason why I like you so much.
You know what it is, Hank?
You know, because we get it, bro.
We understand that you turn on the radio.
You expect to hear something.
You're like, who are these guys?
And then your instinct is to be like, I hate them.
And then you're like, all right, I don't hate them that much.
I mean, who likes the understudy, right?
I mean, I don't, I wouldn't say that I hated, John.
I'm just like, can we start talking about?
I think football season was coming up, and I was just ready to jump to it.
And you're still stuck on baseball.
And, you know.
Trust me.
I'm all in on football now, Hank.
Don't you worry?
You're going to be annoyed at how much I just can't get over so much.
I want to talk about football nonstop.
We have our own style.
We do our thing, but we're glad you like us now.
Thank you, Hank.
What's up, Hank?
I didn't say I didn't like you before.
So let's not do it.
Let's not make it that way.
It's just, like you said, it's just an adjustment period.
Like, y'all got mad at me because I said, you know, I thought Jeter was
overrated. That's why I purposely
misspell his name whenever I
I saw that. He spelled it G-E-T-E-R.
You know what? By the way,
I saw that. I'm with you. I think he's
over-r-ed. Anyway, what did you want to talk about
today, man? Well, I mean, that's why.
That's why Aaron Rogers, man, think about it.
You know, he's got to go through
Josh Allen. He's got to go through Joe Burrow.
He's got to go through Mahomes, through Herbert.
You know, it's not like he's over in the N-S-C.
You know, shucking and jiveing with a team
to Duny and know how to draft, you know, any kind of
wire receivers are running backs for him the whole
time he's there.
And all these young dudes are going to be gunning
after him. I mean, anytime you could beat
in Aaron Rogers, that's some bragging rights.
But Hank, you're right. I mean, if Aaron Rogers,
if he had the personnel
that he has on the Jets and let's say
the NFC South,
he'd win 12 or 13 games. He'd just happen to be
it's like when Russell Wilson
went to the Broncos, hey, welcome to a division
that has Justin Herbert,
you know, two-time Super Bowl champion and best
quarterback in the league, Pat Mahomes, and then, you know, the Raiders who aren't that bad,
and Jimmy Grubbles got a hell of a smile. So, yeah, it's, it's a rough, it's a rough scenario
that Aaron Rogers put himself in, but. And if you just joined us, we did say, it was a good
chance there'll be three and three, the first six games of the season. You know what, game by game,
but it's, I feel like we all sort of felt that way. Now, Steve in L.A., what up, Steve?
Steve wants to talk about yesterday we were talking about infomercials because
Aaron Rogers said on hard knocks he didn't know what the floby was.
That's the only Aaron Rogers' criticism in the last six months.
Well, it's a head scratcher.
It's like, well, how did he miss that?
We all missed something along the way.
He didn't know what the floby was, the infomercial item that cuts your hair.
And Steve in L.A. had something to say about.
What's up? Steve.
Cavino and Rich, in for Colin.
What's up?
Hey, thanks a lot for taking the call.
Yeah, I was just talking about this item that all of us little years had.
Now, I'm 72 now, so we're talking, you know, long time ago.
Yeah.
And there was this item called the Larry Sherry pitchback, and it was the first of its kind that I ever knew of.
And basically, you're just throwing the ball against a net, and that ball just comes flying back to you.
I mean, it was the greatest little thing.
Of course, you know, always somebody's...
That's the lonely kid's best friend.
Yeah, no doubt.
Lonely kids' best friend is right.
You know what? Our buddy Mike, who runs this place, hit us up yesterday with the same thing.
He said it was a big part of his childhood.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So thanks for calling, man.
That was a big one.
I appreciate you.
Thank you, Steve.
Thanks for chiming in.
Again, the numbers 818-907-0-0-062.
And a lot of people listening back in the future.
What up, future dudes?
A lot of people listening to the podcast.
If you want to chime in, you have something to say, you can always call us.
But, again, hit us up on social media at Covino and Rich.
Now, Rich, it was a story.
I want to talk about girl fights a little bit.
By the way, girl,
I feel weird even saying girl fights.
Is there a problem?
Should we go at ladies scuffle?
I heard Ryan say ladies scuffle.
What is the proper way to say this?
Because they're women.
Sometimes I think the women fights are more exciting than the actual men fighting.
That's the truth.
Lady scuffle?
I don't even know.
I feel weird.
It's got a little softer edge.
It's a little more delicate, but it's not necessarily reflective of what some of these lady scuffles are.
You know what I say girl fights?
When I say girl fights, it sounds like, you know, when a woman calls you a boy, how do you feel about that?
A lot of girls like, he's such a stupid boy.
Right.
So when I say girl fights, you know, there's a girl fight.
Namibunis fights this weekend.
Is that a girl fight?
Or are the women getting in the act of guy?
It's the women's division.
We're talking about, if you have not seen it yet, the porta potty brawl.
The porta potty brawl.
At PNC in Pittsburgh.
Oh my God.
So that a Morgan Wallin concert.
And look, look.
Let me be clear.
I will watch any fight.
I love any scuffle.
And I say this all the time.
I watched a fight between a praying mantis and an aunt the other day.
And I thought it was fantastic.
I love when animals fight.
I love when hobos fight.
I watch bum fights.
I watch every fight.
So this is just another one to add to the list.
This was a good one because there was two girls in front of the porta potty and they go at it.
Yeah, but then other people join in and walk.
I know.
But you know, it's funny, dude, there was one point where some innocent woman just walks out.
of the porta potty and all of a sudden the fight goes into that porta potty.
And there's one girl like, ah!
Think of how gross portopodies are.
And ladies, women, girl fight.
There's something different about females fighting.
I'm not trying to be pervy and say it's hot.
I'm not saying like it's gorgeous ladies of wrestling.
I'm saying when women fight at a sporting event or a concert, you grab your popcorn.
There's something next level.
They're almost...
Hair pulling.
It gets wild.
Almost more brutal than men.
I know we saw that big 9er, 49ers fans fight recently.
The guy wearing the Jerry Rice jersey, almost knocked the dude out.
Yeah, those get too scary.
Women have a different layer, and that layer is hair.
Right?
I mean, they, think of how much that must hurt when some girls drag another girl.
That one girl in this porta potty fight, if you haven't seen it,
oh, the one with the white cowboy boots, she goes buck wild.
Look it up on social media, PNC, Morgan Wallen concert.
Very viral clip right now.
This porta-potty fight resulted in a girl dragging a girl by her hair.
Oh, it's vicious.
And looks like she's trying to put that girl's head in the porta-pottie.
That's called a swirling, I believe, something like that.
One of Rich's weird search terms.
Stop it.
But here's where I'm going with this, too.
There were rumors that Ronda Rousey was planning her last fight in the UFC for UFC 300.
because we all love a good woman fight.
I recently watched.
But Dana White recently put those rumors to rest saying,
no, as far as he knows, that's not happened.
And maybe just trying to keep the hopes down.
I don't know.
But he put the kibosh on those rumors.
But between those rumors,
between the Nama Yunus fight this weekend,
you know, the fights that I've seen recently,
I saw that Zhang Lemos fight recently in UFC 292.
this porta potty brawl.
It does pose the question
are the women fights, the ladies' scuffles, the girl fights?
Are they sometimes, are they becoming more exciting than the men fights?
I think at stadiums, yes.
Maybe in the octagon ring to.
The viral clips?
The viral clips.
Dude, I'll tell you what, man.
Prior to Sugar Shone O'Malley,
went in that fight, the women fight was the fight of the night.
You know, I recently, I don't know,
how you go down these little rabbit holes of just looking at different videos on YouTube and
Instagram and TikTok.
I recently watched the video in Rhonda Rousey lost for the first time to Holly Home.
Yeah.
And it gave me that same sense of 1990 when Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson where the whole time
you're like, oh wow.
Oh, she'll turn it around.
Oh, she'll get her footing and win this.
I had that.
I remember Tyson knocked him down.
So you're like, oh, here it comes.
Oh, here it comes.
The same way where you're like, wow, Buster Douglas is, well, he's hanging in it.
He's a bunch of Douglas, the wonderful man.
He's a very wonderful man.
Some people forget that I wasn't in the best shape and that he was fighting for,
his mother had recently passed away.
He had a lot more to fight for.
I didn't have the fighting guts.
I wasn't prepared.
Such a great, Mike.
I watched that fight, and even though I know Buster Douglas won, you ever watch a sports highlight
and you're like, oh, maybe the outcome will be different this time?
Every time I watch Buster Douglas, I'm like, oh, Tyson will some.
Don't you think Red Sox fans watch Bill Buckner?
This time he'll catch it.
In hopes that he caught that ball this time?
This time he'll catch.
But he never catches the ball?
As a Mets fan in 06, I watched that and I'm like, oh, Beltran won't look at third.
Wainwright, oh, he's going to rip a double.
Somehow it's going to be like a movie and destiny's going to change.
Well, Holly Home.
It was her night.
The whole time you're like, oh, Rousey will get her footing.
It's really interesting, guys, what Rich is saying, because you had this belief that...
No one could beat Ron DeRalryl.
No one could beat Ron DeRouse.
So you weren't even paying attention to the fact that Holly Holme was whooping her ass the whole time.
Same thing.
If you watched that fight now, Buster Douglas whooped his ass.
From round one.
From round one.
It was just boxing him.
Bow, bow, bow, bow, bow.
So, you know, with these women fighting, are they more exciting?
When you think about the hype, look.
Dude, the fact that they even said Ronda Rousey's coming back for a last ride, people are like, no way, what?
And again, that rumor seems to be not true.
What are your thoughts?
And as a guy, by the way, how do you step into this?
Because in today's world, it's a very touchy situation.
Like, you don't want to get involved and it gets vicious.
You're getting sued or you're involved some out.
You're never going to put your hands on a woman, but you don't want to get involved because you don't want to get in.
How do you stop that?
This porta potty brawl was sort of vicious.
What if that was your wife?
for girlfriend or your sister, who knows?
I think the lesson here is just watch that video
and enjoy. Yeah, enjoy it guys. The lady scuffle. That's gone viral.
Is there any... You know, you can end it with this.
And then we'll take some phone calls, get to the herd line news.
Is there anything more humiliating
than losing a fight
and the fight results in your head being put in a porta potty?
That might be the way to put a little bow on this conversation.
I don't think there's any more humiliating way.
What's more insulting? Aaron Rogers saying,
I don't know you.
or getting a swirley from a woman in a port-a-border car.
I'm going to go with that one.
I think you're right about that.
Let's do it up.
Heardline news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd-line news.
Yeah, I'd be totally fine with someone saying I have no idea who you are versus getting my head thrown into a porta-pop.
That is, you know what?
That is probably the worst.
That's going to be the worst.
All right.
Let's do a little bit of NBA before we go back to some NFL.
Everyone has their eyes on Damien Liller.
as we try to figure out whether or not the Trailblazers will give in to his trade requests and where he'll end up.
A little bit of an update here from Mark Spears, noted NBA insider.
Jason Tatum, the Celtics superstar, put on a full court press to try and get Lillard to consider the Celtics as a potential landing spot.
But according to Spears, he was denied.
Lillard remains solely focused on joining the heat.
So no interest in going to Boston for Damien Lillard.
Boston's fun to hang in, but I feel like that.
Those fans, Miami, I feel like the fans are way more casual.
Think about it.
Dame's been a star, but Portland's fan base, while passionate, is not like brutal.
Boston, if you're not good and things don't go right, it's like New York and Philly.
Sure.
That northeast, tough.
Absolutely.
I mean, they right, wrong or indifferent, they got Kyrie Irving out of their quick.
No doubt.
They were not having any of his.
No, digity, no doubt.
They had no interest in that.
The other part to this that I find interesting is,
how many times do you think in Jason Tatum's life has he ever been denied like that?
You know what it reminds me of?
It reminds me of when Tom Cruise, remember like a month ago,
Tom Cruise, wanted to go on a date with Shakira?
And she said, no thanks.
I remember thinking, when was the last time someone said no to Tom Cruise?
Yeah, seriously.
All right, we'll turn our attention back to the NFL here.
Expectations, a little low for the Cardinals this season.
They're also waiting for Kyler Murray to return from injury,
but they have a new front office and a new first-year head coach in Jonathan Gannon.
Now, the popular thing we've seen from NFL head coaches and some of these inspirational speeches,
we saw Robert Salas on hard knocks talking about crows versus eagles.
Now, we've also seen Lions head coach Dan Campbell do these, Mike Tomlin.
So I want to get your guys' thoughts on this.
This was Jonathan Gannon.
and put out by the team's own social media,
here was his version of an inspirational speech to his team.
Welcome back.
Who drove over here?
Wait for you to miss your hands.
Who took the bus?
Did you have fire in your gut?
Did you?
We're here for a reason.
Don't get that twisted.
Okay, we're here for a reason to win games.
So if you didn't have that fire in your gut,
you better light the fire pretty fast.
be who you are
just understand
I'm looking for
killers
he's not as motivational as
bust Tom
he is that take away
that music in the background
that music got me fired up
it's the music you got it
otherwise it was a pretty flat speech
yeah that didn't that didn't go over so well
and I know Colin for those who follow the show
closely Colin's big on
head coaches their ability to
command a room to command respect
to lead men
I agree with Colin 100%.
And that just felt that felt flat.
That did not show a lot of promise.
We'll see.
We'll allow Jonathan Gannon to play a real regular season game and see what the Cardinals have.
I'm not fired up after that.
I'm fired down.
In fact, I just got tired.
Well, let's try and fire you up because we know Dan Campbell likes to fire people up.
The Lions, they've been down and out for a while.
But they popped up on the radar last season, finishing with a winning record for the first time since 2017.
Now things are different in Detroit.
They're slated on opening night to take on the chiefs.
Taking on the chiefs and playing on opening night comes with high expectations.
But their general manager, Brad Holmes, he's not worried about it.
We're not scared of those expectations, he said.
The expectations are earned.
And I think what we've built, what we've done up to this point in terms of how we finished the end of last season through our player acquisitions,
we're just going to be there to prove them right.
If you had that music under you, man, I'd be fired out.
All right.
Yeah, for sure.
Let me tell you, it's all about timing.
right? You get little windows
in the world of sports, in your career
in life. And right
now, Aaron Rogers, farewell
Green Bay, Minnesota,
everyone, you know, her cousins in that team
they get there, but they get
to the postseason, don't get it done. The Bears
while Justin
Fields looks like he'll make, you know, steps
ahead, this might be the opportunity for the
Lions to have a couple years now
where they're the team. When was the last
time you thought the Lions were going to be the team
in that division? You know, I
It sucks starting week one against the Chiefs, though.
I don't think you're going to win that game.
But hey, we'll see.
Thank you, Ryan.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
All right.
Well, we're going to get to some weekend hobnobbing in just a little bit.
That's where we go over all the hottest things to watch in the world of sports and entertainment over the weekend.
What's streaming?
Who's fighting?
What games are on?
And who hobnobbs more than Rich Davis.
He's the king of hobnobnobbing.
I'm out and about doing my thing.
Guy never stops.
We'll get to all that in a little bit.
Let's like two quick phone calls now, though.
We'll start with Dave in Pennsylvania on line three.
What's up, Dave?
What up, Dave?
Hey, how are you?
Is this where I tell you to hang on for a second?
No, no, yeah.
We already went through that.
What's up, buddy?
Okay.
Hey, you probably know my uncle, Greg.
I'm Dave Popovich.
Just kidding.
Anyhow, Aaron Rogers, he's living a dream.
Just remember this.
There's just a little difference between a dream.
in a nightmare.
And his nightmare, his dream is going to turn into a nightmare
because the Jets will not make the playoffs.
You know, that is true.
I listen to a lot of Fox Sports.
And it is possible.
I listen to a lot of Fox Sports Radio.
I listen to other networks as well.
And everyone, I've noticed there's two divisions that,
you know, we have this theory, Ryan, that if you ask someone,
give me your top four, I hate to say Mount Rushmore,
But when people say, give me your top four Tom Hanks movies,
no two people will have the same four.
None.
It's not.
You might be like, Bachelor Party.
Then I'll be like, that's why I chose Splash.
Or, oh, you know, happy Gil.
Far Scumph.
Someone else will be like, well, I'm going to go more, you know, maybe I'll go big.
I don't think any two people have the AFC North and the AFC East in the same exact division.
I saw Nick Wright saying that he thought the Steelers.
were going to win and the Ravens were going to miss the playoffs.
I saw other people that, oh, Lamar Jackson going to the postseason.
I think when you look at that AFC East, Buffalo, Miami, Jets, I think the only thing we could all agree upon is the odd man out is New England.
But then again, it's Belichick and who knows?
Would you be shocked if Belichick found the way to get this team to nine and eight and be competitive?
You want to be that shocked?
And is Elliot a difference maker?
You don't know?
You don't know yet.
So, hey, your feedback at Covino and Rich.
In for Colin on the herd, and we get to it next.
All the things you should be watching and checking out,
sports and entertainment, all that next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.
I'm the king.
What's good, y'all?

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

A win is a win.
A win is a win.
Yep, that's me.
Clever Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skis.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we picket here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you're not.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed correct.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's the difference between me and Rich?
I'm cool.
He's not.
CNNR on FSR, I'm just kidding.
Rich is my guy.
Kavino and Rich.
Thank you guys for hanging out with us on Fox Sports Radio.
Let me give Danny G a quiz because Danny G is the music guy.
Who sampled this in the 2000s?
Oh, after exhibit?
Yeah.
Blue Cantrell.
Oh, that's right.
Remember that?
Yeah.
Random.
Man, I haven't heard her name in a long time.
I don't know if I should be pumped that you know that or like a shame.
I just know everything.
Don't be intimidated by me knowing everything.
CNNR, in for Colin on the herd.
We're at Covino and Rich on social media.
Shout out to the IHeart app.
All the affiliates.
Everyone's checking out our podcast.
And remember, if you leave a nice review, we're bribing people.
So search Covino and Rich.
Hit follow.
Leave a nice review, even if you hate us, because you qualify for a Nerf football.
A CNN on FSR on FSR Nerf football just in time for your nose-picking kid and football season.
Did you just say, even if you hate us?
Because you can go, even if you hate us.
Just fake it. Leave a nice review, and hey, win something.
I don't care. Win something.
All right, it's time for some weekend hobnob.
Let's go.
For the weekend.
Your winning bets for talking points if you get stuck socializing.
You ever done anything dangerous?
You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
That is dangerous.
Friday brings us.
Weekend Hobnobie.
The whistle go, whoa.
It's Friday, which means hopefully you got some plans, right?
Before the kids go back to school.
maybe hitting the beach, grilling in the name of.
Well, this is what you need to watch in a world of sports and entertainment.
Not a good time to start a juice cleanse.
No, no, definitely not.
So let me kick it off again.
I'm Kavino.
Thanks again, everybody.
I'm going love is blind, dude, on Netflix.
It's back.
I love it.
Yo, you got to pick and choose your trash TV.
I picked this one.
It's great.
You know, it's the after the altar sort of reunion, like the update on what's happening.
from season four.
Do I remember the people on the show?
Chelsea and Kwame.
Quame.
Remember Kwame?
Oh, dude.
Yeah, you got Tiffany and Brett and Bliss and Zach
and updates on all the single people too.
So if you love,
love is blind like I did.
This is the update on what's going on.
I never got a chance to see Indiana Jones in theaters.
So on Amazon,
you can check it out this weekend.
Dial of Destiny,
me a huge, Indiana Jones fan.
It's time to watch it.
How could you deny Harrison Ford, dude?
Come on, let's go.
And UFC fight night.
Cyril Gons fighting.
Excited about that.
And like I said before, Nami Yunus, one of my favorites.
So check that out.
Enjoy some UFC.
Now, enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
I'd say some college football, but we know we start week one with a lot of teams playing a lot of bunk teams.
The points spreads are pretty hilarious.
A lot of 30 and 40 points spread.
So maybe some fun gambling with some.
some parlays and teasers, but
college football, no game in particular
is on my radar. But you know what? You
recommended Big George
Forman, the documentary? Dude, it's on Netflix now.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm a boxing fan.
Let me make this clear, though. I'm not saying it's
great. But for a movie that
nobody talked about is definitely
worth to watch. Everyone could appreciate
the story of Big George Foreman.
But you know, if you want to watch Caleb Williams, USC
see you've put up some big numbers against
Nevada, that's on Saturday
afternoon. A couple other things.
the ultimatum on Netflix.
Trash TV at its finest.
All these young couples that are like,
I want to get married.
I'm 20.
I'm like freaking slow down.
But it's trash TV at its finest
if you need something to watch with the wife or your girlfriend.
If you were a John Cena fan and the comedian Lil Ray, who's funny,
Vacation Friends was a movie that went straight to Netflix a year ago.
That is now a sequel.
Part 2.
You can check.
Actually, I think that's Hulu.
Or Amazon.
Make up your mind.
Or Disney Plus.
or peacock.
And there's a good baseball game on tonight.
We mentioned it earlier.
Urius versus Freed.
Maybe a National League championship preview.
You know what?
I'm probably going to check that out.
And you know what?
There's one other Netflix show that I think
should get all of our attention because it looks interesting.
It's not trash.
It's not nonsense.
It's called Live to 100.
Secret of the Blue Zones.
They found these random areas around the world
where everyone in the community
lives to like 100,
and it's based on their diet.
what they do, and this guy does a whole
breakdown of why do Americans
not live to 100
for the most part? Speaking of diet, I think I'm
most excited to watch you ruin yours
this weekend.
Yeah. I think they said the key is
juice cleanses. Ryan, what you got, man?
All right, well, you
didn't speak very highly of
college football, but I actually am going to
try and sell you on this. Oh, please do,
because I need a game point. That's the point.
Yeah, let's hear it. We're going to try and sell you
on number five LSU, taken on number eight FSU.
See, that's a good one. You know what? You're right.
So, you know, you got Brian Kelly, his second year at LSU, came over from Notre Dame,
immediately hit the ground running. A lot of people had questions, whether or not he can do it in the big, bad SEC.
Now we're looking to see what he can do in year two.
Collins got LSU in the national championship game this year.
As you said, a very soft launch to college football last weekend.
Now you can see their quarterback, Jane Daniels.
Maybe he can make a run for the Heisman.
It's really hard. Caleb Williams,
already out to an early lead, but you haven't had a back-to-back
winner since Archie Griffin.
You know, Ryan, that's a great one.
You know what it was?
I was looking at all the Saturday games.
It's a sneaky Sunday game.
That's a sneaky Sunday game, which is why I was like,
is there any good game on Saturday?
This is a sneaky Sunday game.
And LSU favored by less than a field goal.
So if you believe in what Colin said,
maybe take LSU giving those two points.
That's right.
Brian is very sneaky.
He is very, very sneaky.
Very, very sneaky.
Anything else on your radar, Ryan?
I'm always terrible on keeping up with TV shows.
This is actually an old show that my wife and I are trying to binge and catch up on.
We're on season two of the bear.
Oh, the bear's great.
You know, my wife, I think the guy looks like a doofist.
My wife said women on social media love him.
Jeremy Allen White?
Yeah.
We've interviewed him.
Good looking guy.
He looks like a young, handsome Gene Wilder.
No, but he's ripped, dude.
He's in great shape women do life.
They call him chef daddy?
Yeah, yeah.
Danny G. What do you got, buddy?
Let's see. You stole my Dodgers game.
So I'm going to go right to Disney Plus in honor of our afternoon tech producer Ramos.
Sci-fi nerds are hyped, a new Star Wars series with Rosario Dawson, Asako.
Ashoka.
Ashoka.
Asoka.
Asoka. Is that how you say it?
She's a former Jedi Knight who investigates an emerging threat to a shaky galaxy.
I'm hearing, yeah, I'm hearing it's a high.
I got to, you know what, I got to check it out regardless.
We got an extended weekend.
Yeah, there's lots of memes where they're showing Rosario from the backside.
I saw that.
Why are they doing that?
Oh, reasons to watch and they show, boom.
Yeah, bab boom.
And Danny G.
Are you going to say it?
Or should I say it?
Asoka.
Asoka is that what you name?
Yeah, but we're forgetting one show.
We all forgot.
Oh, winning time.
There it is.
Come on.
That is automatic.
Sunday night.
Yes, that makes your Sunday night right there.
Lakers, baby.
Danny, my kids take swim lessons.
and the woman that gives them lessons is like,
I'm a big Lakers, 80s girl, and I'm like,
are you watching Winning Time?
And she's like, what are you talking about?
And I felt like I was Christopher Columbus for her.
I was like, whoa, do I have the show for you?
So winning time might be the best show.
HBO Max, even if you don't like basketball,
even if you don't like the Lakers,
so worth to watch.
And the casting is incredible.
That's what really puts it over to top.
I did not watch last week's episode.
I'm saving it.
I want to do a double dip on Sunday night.
that we have two hours.
There you go.
If you're not on it, get on it.
Thank you to Colin Cowherd for letting us fill in.
Ryan, thank you, my friend, for being so welcoming here on the herd.
And we'll see you guys.
Monday.
And for Dan Patrick.
Until then, Kavino and Rich, Arribanerci, baby.
We'll see you in the Promise Land.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
Enjoy.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.

We do some retirement homes.
